Straight up self insert

meet Hannah, she’s a Hider artist, she’s a self insert character because of reasons.

Hannah is a kind and soft spoken girl who doesn’t do well in social environments, she’s usually just hiding out in the Studio room of the Gloomy Manor, though don’t try to rush her, she will get mad. She loves all things artistic ranging from painting to music, dance, modeling, woodworking and even just plain ‘ol regular drawing, she loves it all, she even sewed her shirt and smock from fabrics she found in Evershade.

Before the events of Dark Moon, she was only really known as just the one painter Hider in the Studio, not much is really known about her, she never even mentioned her name so no one even properly knew her.

When the Moon broke, she is one of the first few Hiders Luigi encounters, she’s seen painting the portrait of another Hider, though this Hider is rather impatient and gets on her nerves, so she painted a mustache on him out of annoyance, she then spent most of her time in the vault. {Like how I do whilst playing the game, like seriously I love the vault in LM DM}

After the moon is fixed, she realizes that maybe she should probably express herself more, since she now knows that living humans are also present in the Valley she calls home. She consults the only women she knows in the entirety of Evershade, The Three Sisters, only one was available to ask at the time though, Lucinda. Hannah basically got the idea of Accessorizing like how she did when alive from her, though since Hannah never wore any hair accessories, she had to compromise, so she searched for some medium cyan and Forest green fabrics and threads to make a tee-shirt and smock.

Seeing a lot of debate recently on if bowuigi is a 'healthy' ship or how to make it 'work' and be 'non-problematic'.

Friendly reminder your ship doesn't have to be healthy. You dont need to justify why you want a evil turtle and a plumber to fuck. You don't have to do a redemption if you don't want too. You can keep Bowser a raging asshole if you feel like it. Or make him sweet as pie. You can make luigi like him for any reason you want.

Your ship doesn't have to be squeaky clean pure-or hell-even follow anything with canon. You can make a AU so detached from canon its basically its own new property if you want.

Shipping is supposed to be fun. If you find yourself sitting there trying to draw or write and find yourself trying to write your characters as pure as possible so you don't get backlash remind yourself the first rule of creating: the audience is YOU first, everyone else second.

Some People hate my human Bowser. I'm still going to draw him. Some people hate my comic. I'm still going to write it.

Drawing and writing is only fun if you allow yourself to tell the story you want too. Remember that.

First off, I LOVE your Mute Mario AU it's amazing! Especially your recent post of Mario worrying about his girl going through the same things he went through.

I had some questions about Mute Papa Mario and his daughter actually (forgot her name if she has one yet). What do you think Mario's relationship with her daughter would be like? I imagine it would be very wholesome based on Mario's supporting her and she admires and loves him so much! (I also bet Luigi's the awesome uncle she blabs about while Mario looks at her pridefully and signs something like "That's my brother all right" while Luigi is sobbing tears of joy and laughing happily.)

What would be Mario and his daughters' favorite activities to do together? Sports? Drawing? Go-karting? Or something else?

Also, if her daughter gets picked on or attempted to be kidnapped by Bowser (or any villain really), how do you think Mario will react? No doubt he'll save her obviously, but I can imagine the villains feel this chill as they see Mario's face and NO mercy is shown.

Oh, Mario adores his daughter, more than pretty much anything else. She’s his everything! He takes Mia everywhere with him, showing her the world around them and fostering an explorative nature early on (she’s just like him after all—so curious!). He’s insanely attentive to her every need, and definitely has a tendency to spoil her a bit 🤭 (a very common sign in their household is placing a finger to his chin, then moving it away while shaking his head and gesturing to Peach—“don’t tell mom.”)

But she also loves him so much too! Peach and Luigi both make sure to regale her with tales of Mario’s heroic adventures, so she learns pretty quickly just how amazing her dad is. She looks up to him a lot, and wants to be just like him. She definitely takes after him, and they love spending time doing sports and art together (he’ll maybe take her karting someday, but he’s a little worried about her getting hurt from it).

And I think a lot about what would happen if she was kidnapped! I actually have a narrative for it I’ve been turning around a lot. I think it would only ever happen once, because the result was so bad, for everyone from each side. Bowser kidnapped her (maybe when she’s around 5 or so) without thinking much of it, seeing it as a simple political move. But it makes Mario absolutely lose it. That’s his world. That’s his everything. Peach and Luigi have never seen him so violently angry over anything before. He wants Bowser to understand, and to pay. He’s so overcome with grief that he does the unthinkable.

It’s bad, but I think he’d be sent into such a panic that Mario would seek out Bowser Jr. as collateral, maybe luring him into a trap or storming into the Darklands and just bringing him as a hostage into Bowser’s throne room. Peach would tell him not to, Luigi would tell him not to, he would know it’s a bad idea. But he’s furious and terrified and he doesn’t know what else to do, because what if Bowser hurts his baby? He can’t risk it. He has to make the king understand what he’s doing.

It culminates into a standoff between the two fathers, both unbelievably angry and scared and trying to assure their own children while they have another child in their grips. Nothing would happen. Mario knows he would never actually be able to hurt a child, and it even pains him seeing how scared he’s making Bowser Jr. (and his own daughter from across the room). It becomes evident pretty quickly that Bowser feels the same, and seeing his own child in Mario’s hands makes him realize how much he fucked up.

Bowser doesn’t apologize, but they trade the children, and Mia is never kidnapped again. Mario also holds a lot of guilt and regret over the incident, but he doesn’t apologize either (except to Junior).

A Slice of Orange Regret

Some of the crew is hanging out in the castle foyer as usual, when Meggy trudges in, a haunted look in her eyes and some sort of poster in her hands. Tari's the first to notice her.

"Hey, Meggy! Are you...okay?"

Meggy doesn't answer at first, which draws the attention of the rest of the room, "...I messed up. I messed up real bad."

"What do you mean?"

"You know how Mario's been trying to recreate that orange spaghetti Domain and I made?"

There's a scattering of gestures and noises of general acknowledgement, a few of them a bit annoyed. It had been a bit hard to miss, given how obsessed and desperate he'd been getting, and more than a few of them had gotten caught in the crossfire of his more chaotic attempts, especially recently. And with Mario being who he is, it isn't likely that he'll be stopping his crusade for the perfect spaghetti any time soon, no matter how much some may have wanted him to.

"Well, the other day I was grabbing lunch with Desti and we ended up talking about it, and-and I wasn't thinking about where we were or who would overhear even though I really should have, and now..." she trails off and stares down at the floor, holding out the poster for someone to take.

Bob's the one to grab it, and when he sees what's on it his eyes bulge out in shock, "Sweet holy tits, you're completely fucked."

She lets out a pained whimper, and the rest of the crew crowds in to see what it says for themselves. There's several shocked gasps, a nervous 'mama-mia' from Luigi, and Saiko even clasps at her chest and says some things under her breath that go untranslated.

Finally, the poster is revealed in full...as an advertisement for a new Orange Pizza at Peppino's Pizza.

Anyone who knows both men is aware that, despite their friendship when off-the-clock, when it comes to food Mario "Jumpman" Mario and Peppino Spaghetti are bitter rivals, always seeking to one-up one another and claim the Mushroom Kingdom as their pizza restaurant's turf and theirs alone. Of course this would be how the eternally anxious pizza chef reacted to hearing about Mario's struggles with his signature food. And this was Peppino, so there was no way he'd ever be willing to tell anyone, especially Mario, how exactly he pulled it off.

Finding out that his culinary arch-enemy had accomplished what he could not no matter how hard he tried would be bad enough, but finding out that his closest friend was partially to blame for it?

SMG4 is the first to recover, shuddering at the possibilities before grinning nervously, "N-now let's not be too hasty guys. Maybe it's not exactly the right orange. I mean, restaurants make their food look better on ads and menus all the time!"

Meggy shakes her head, eyes still vacant, "Already tried it. It was just as good and orange as the spaghetti." She sighs the sigh of the damned before finally looking up again, "I have to tell him."

"Are you nuts!?" 3 grabs her by the shoulders, "Do you have any idea just how pissed he's gonna be!?"

"Well, it'll be worse if I try to hide it and he finds out himself! And that will happen, you know as well as I do there's no way to keep this from him forever." She brushes him off and starts pacing, "Look, I already texted him to come over so we could talk, he'll be here any minute, I just needed to tell you guys first to psyche myself up."

They all look around at each other nervously, then Saiko gets up, "I'll start planning the funeral."

Meggy deadpans at her, "thanks for the vote of confidence."

It's at this point that Mario bursts in, his usual stupid grin on his face, "WADDUP, PARTY PEOPLE!"

There's some scattered greetings which sound a bit nervous rather than annoyed like usual, but he doesn't notice the difference. He also doesn't notice Meggy snatching the ad back from Bob.

He hops over to Meggy, "So, you needed to talk to Mario?"

She very decidedly does not gulp in terror, thank you, "Y-yeah, uh, 4? Could we use the game room for this."

"Sure thing." As they head that way, he frantically mouths 'soundproof' to Emulator. She gets what he means and does so, reinforcing the room with Invisible Walls as well for good measure.

They enter the room, the door left slightly open for now to gauge what might be happening, and after a minute or so Lily speaks up, "maybe he's taking it well?"

This, of course, is when Mario shouts "YOU DID WHAT!?", voice rapidly taking on an eldritch echoey quality as an eerie red glow appears through the doorway-

Tari, being the closest, quickly shuts the door the rest of the way so Emmy's protections can actually...well, protect them, "That's a no, I think."

Everyone else had gone back to what they'd been doing before, albeit now with a tense atmosphere and the occasional nervous glance at the game room.

A few hours in, Lil Coding's the first to address it, "Do you think they're done yet?"

"Let me check," Tari gets up and opens the door a bit to-

"-THEN REDIRECT PIPE 43-B TO THE WELL OF DAMNED SOULS AND FLUSH THE SYSTEM-"

-she slams it shut again just as the air starts to ripple around her, "Nope."

"Were those some kind of demonic plumbing instructions?"

Luigi shrugged, "Yeah, we've actually been studying to finally renew our plumbing licenses now that our lives and his sanity are somewhat stable again."

"And that involves damned souls?"

"Have you seen what the sewers are like in the Mushroom Kingdom? Plumbing around here isn't just clogged toilets and leaky faucets."

"Fair enough."

Boopkins lets out a nervous whine, "This is kind of overboard even for Mario, isn't it? I mean, Meggy just made a mistake."

3 juts his thumb towards the door, "hey, you wanna go in there and try telling him that, be my guest."

"-IF THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT OR DRAIN-O AREN'T AVAILABLE, MARINARA SAUCE WILL SUFFICE-"

Everyone looks over at Tari.

"Sorry! I figured it would be a good idea to check in every few minutes in case anything changes."

They all settle into the nerve-wracking, now slightly painful for their mortal minds routine for another 30 minutes or so, until finally...

"-AND STRANGLE THEM WITH A PAPAIA!"

The eldritch shouting and reality warping and red glow die down, and after a long few seconds Mario stomps out of the room in his Baked color scheme, each footstep leaving a glowing red boot-print that quickly dims to a scorch mark.

"I need to cool off. Do not follow me." His voice, while no longer as loud, is still just as intense, and everyone gives him a wide berth as he leaves.

Meggy's the next to come out, clearly exhausted and emotionally wrung-out but unharmed and un-"The-Abyss-Stared-Into-Me-And-Found-Me-Wanting." Tari pulls her into a side hug in case she loses her footing.

Her voice is small and shaky when she finally says something, "Well, he took that better than I expected."

For the most part yea! He’s just, observing from a distance, on occasion. He’s like the little voice in their heads that acts like a lil devil on their shoulders <3 whether or not they actually listen and act out what he says is up to them tho (they do end up listening to him eventually)

He’s the most involved yet completely absent father they could ever ask for!!

He doesn’t become like, a physical part of their lives until Felix fucking. Murders some bullies with Mason LMAO after that he would manifest physically more often and would have direct conversations with his kids

Watching Jacksepticeye's playthroigh of Luigi's Mansion 3 while making paper Rose's, why paper Rose's, because they are nice and pretty and it keeps m occupied okay?

Anyways I have a newly found hatred for the fucking ghost cat, it's so annoying. Also I didn't realise how many levels and Boss's that the game had, imagine my surprise when i find out Luigi had to fight a skeleton T-Rex with a caveman, some weird gym bro that now comes in swimming form, and a cool disco lady

(Some of you may be surprised to learn that this is actually the first time I've watched any content from Luigi's Mansion... It's also the first Mario game that I've watched all the way through (excluding Mario Kart and maybe Mario Party if my memory serves correctly))

But honestly I do love the game it looks so full of life (ironically) and Luigi is just the cutest, absolutely adore Polterpup, and E. Gadd seems like a very... Interesting character, he's a bit of an ass but I kind of love him for it. Like my man really went "do you really have to save your friends and family? Like can't you just leave them here?". Helen was absolutely fabulous, I almost feel bad for her, key word almost.

so i got a wii and a 3ds at the same time which were like, basically my first ever consoles. i was like four or something. and i got a bunch of games, and i remember getting mkwii, mk7, galaxy 1, mario party 8, and super paper mario somewhere in that time (along with skyward sword, oot 3D, and twilight princess, lol.) my dad was making a biiig push for me to get into, like. mario and sonic and zelda and all the franchises he grew up with (which i. i think it worked a little too well) while my mom was pushing me towards barbie and disney princesses. and i enjoyed both because i was like four but video games held a special place in my heart and mario became my first ever hyperfixation.

and like. a big thing for me when i was little were characters with red hair. bc i had red hair, and all the media i was exposed to either gave characters blonde or black or brown hair, or itd be an unnatural red like princess ariel (which is cool asf now but it wasnt what i was looking for). it made four year old me super frustrated bc i wanted there to be characters who looked like me and it felt like there just. wasnt. i wanted more options for halloween costumes like everyone else did basically

so when i found out about daisy via unlocking her in mkwii i freaked the fuck out in the best way possible because she LOOKED LIKE ME and she was TOUGH and she PLAYED SPORTS but she also LIKED FLOWERS and most importantly SHE WAS FROM MARIO! SHE WAS A VIDEO GAME PRINCESS AND SHE KICKED ASS and when youre a four year old girl thats just like the most mindblowing thing ever. i memorized every bit of info i could get on her, id watch amvs of her on my elementary schools computers, id spend hours on daisy circuit and daisy cruise just looking at the track details, id talk to anyone whod listen to me about the mario character who was a princess but WASNT peach and who was dating luigi and and and etc etc blahblahblah. point is i fixated on her haaaard

anyways, daisy is still very very close to my heart after all these years. shes still my main in mk8, i squealed when i found out she made it into smash ultimate, and i own a lot of her merch because for a long time there just Wasnt Any unless you were like, a collector or something. and now shes finally going to be playable in mario bros wonder!!!!! do you know how long ive wanted playable daisy!!!!!!!!!

Today i wanna talk about one of my hyperfixations i've got even before i knew what an hyperfixation is.

Megaman but not only Megaman, the Starforce Saga

I wasn't such a fan of the Blue Bomber i played some of the games yeah but they didn't catch my attention at all unlike others like Sonic, Mario or even Crash Bandicoot (i think?)

Until i got my first (and only) DS i got many games (and also thanks to it i started to play the Mario & Luigi saga games) and one of them was this

At first i thought it was something boring like idk what i expected but

Oh gosh how wrong i was, remember that one Max Steel reboot? Well mix it with Evangelion and you get this criminally underrated gem of a game (or should i say GAMES cause there's 3 parts there was about to be a fourth but it was sadly cancelled)

One of the things i liked as that i'm a sucker for interactive RPGs pixelart type of games and my fav part is that you can turn into Megaman whenever you want and not when it's necesary and ofc feel OP the more Battle Cards and experience you get and it has difficult bosses (seriously difficult FUCK YOU ANDROMEDA)

The plot is simple you get this boy Geo Stelar (Hoshikawa Subaru as they say in Nipon) who's father was working on a Space Station called Peace (i think that was the name?) The father and the station dissapeared out of nowhere and since then Geo became an edgy angsty kid who can't make friends cause he's scared of being hurt (Shinji Ikari is that u!?) However Geo meets an Alien called Omega-Xis (or War-Rock) who is like a Symbiont made out of an energy that makes him invisible to the human eye this being called EM wave (Electromagnetic Waves) the two join forces and became Megaman fighting evil guys and becoming strongee together their relationship is like if Eddie Brock and Venom got a more Little Brother/Older Brother type of relation instead of a toxic Yaoi one

You also get some funny characters like Luna (aka Asuka Langley Soryuh) Patrick (aka Mr Femboy) or Solo (aka Edgelord_Mu)

The games are fucking underrated and it pains me as hell so if you have the time to play them, do it.

1. Did you add any F/Os to your list this year? Were they from new media or just a newly discovered love?

Here's every romantic F/O added to the list this year, or at least that I can remember adding this year. Years are long and my sense of time is very warped so it may not be fully accurate.

Most are from new media, or just new parts of media, like the end of the Owl House and the New Pokemon Games. The ones that are new loves from re-visits are Heracross, Smeargle, and Keckleon from Monster Mind, Mario and Luigi from Super Mario, Makarov from Fairy Tail, and Jill from The Wayward Children series.

Though Mario and Luigi are also what I consider my first F/Os, they weren't officially on the list until the movie came out, so I'm counting them in the 2023 yearly wrap.

2. Did you reconsume any of your F/Os’ source media this year? How did you feel about the rewatch/listen/read/etc?

I rewatch Assassination Classroom every year in March and it makes me cry every time. I also replay Hatoful Boyfriend and Holiday Star every December for Kazuaki and Hitori, watch Baka and Test sometime around late Summer most years to ease my seasonal depression, and rewatch Mushishi at least once a year.

Other than that, nothing super meaningful. I rewatched a few LPs of Mario games, replayed through Paper Mario myself, watched Romantic Killer again, Reread Manly Appetites every other month or so, watched The Cat Returns once or twice, played more Pokemon, Restarted Monster Mind (still haven't finished it), and skimmed the Ouran Manga at the library while waiting for them to replace the volume they're missing.

HOWever, this latest reread of Down Among the Sticks and Bones is what got me to finally put Jill on the F/O list, so that feels worth mentioning. I love that book <3

4. Was there anything on your blog that you were particularly proud of this year?

No, not really. My drawings were all very incomplete and sketchy this year with long gaps between them, and my writing really flaked off suddenly, I haven't written more than a paragraph at all this year.

I wouldn't say I'm particularly proud of them, but I did really enjoy making moodboards last month and am kind of waiting for my health to settle so I can get back to them. Making stuff for other self shippers is a lot more fun than writing/drawing for myself atm.

11. Was there new media for any of your F/Os this year? If so, what was your opinion on it?

Yes FNaF Help Wanted 2 came out and gave us New Sun Content and I LOVED IT!!!!! He's such a bitch!!!! A shit!!! A snobby theater kid!!! He's so controlling and harsh I LOVE him <3 So happy to know more about him honestly and that he's not all UwU Caregiver that the fandom made him. I like soft characters, but he's a HORROR character he needs to be a little fucked up!!

18. Did you have a favorite trend in the selfship community from the past year?

I'll be honest, I don't pay much attention to what other people in the selfship community are doing. I follow the tags but if there's like a popular trend thing going around, I miss it every time.

My LEAST favorite right now though is the whole "Stolen from an Anti" thing. I have no qualms about stealing posts it's whatever, but I hate when it's says that in text at the bottom of the post. Just tag it as such so I can filter it please
