Surprise Visitor: Froggie
Several times now I´ve seen this cute little European tree frog (Hyla arborea) sitting atop my garden water-connection underneath the makeshift cover (needed to protect the device from the harsh UV radiation).

(Foto = 3er Stack aus der Hand). au scenario: vertin suffers from blindness as a result of side effect from the storm. sonetto is her companion aid.
"Sonetto!" An enthusiastic voice called, and Sonetto finds herself at the lake, fairly far from the main building of the school. With a heavy sigh, she slowly approaches the girl in the bushes. Vertin is kneeling on the grass and leaves, cupping something in her hands. Sonetto already knew what was in them from the muffled croaking.
Its the Hyla arborea, 'foreteller of the rain'.
Next to Vertin was a simple dark cane, while a checkered bandana is wrapped around her head at the eye level. They started putting her hair up to a full side bun to make tying the bandana easier.
Just because she couldn't see most things didn't mean she couldn't see strong light. The blindfold was temporary, and eventually Vertin would move to glasses to get used to the bright light
"What is it?" Sonetto asked, tone still as serious as she could be.
"Come here." Vertin says, and Sonetto obliged, crouching down next to the ash-haired girl. She brushed her shoulder, indicating that she was near. Vertin turned and slightly opened her hands, showing the little green frog within.
"Its another Hyla arborea! The first one I've caught in a while..." Vertin smiled, and even without her eyes showing it, Sonetto recognized that this was the first time she was ever happy since the incident. The smile was a genuine one, and Sonetto recognized it immediately. There was something gentle yet so bright about it, and it highlighted a lot of details on her face that would've never been noticed the first time. Her hair, the roughened skin, the freckles on the bridge of her nose—Wait, where was she going here?
She shook her head, standing up. As much as she wanted this moment to last, she could not abandon her responsibilities. "We have to go back for class..."
"I know, but..." Vertin paused, focusing back to the creature she felt in her hands. It's croaks sent a few vibrations through her hands, a feeling she liked.
Sonetto sighs the same way she has done countless times. "There's many frogs that you could find later, after classes and training."
"I still hate the classes,"
"But you cannot refuse it."
Convincing the Vertin to go back to the building with her became a challenging task already, yet this happened to be the easiest part. The hardest one was guiding her back to the classroom. But at that moment, it didn't matter. Vertin's focus was on the precious frog, much to Sonetto's insistence of letting it go.
After back and forth, Sonetto let Vertin keep the frog to make her happy. Vertin clutches the frog close to her chest, while her free hand takes the cane and she helps herself up.
Sonetto couldn't help but smile. To see her deskmate be happy like this, it brings a gentle warmth to her. One unfamiliar after such a long time, but not unwelcomed. Despite being taught to abandon these meaningless feelings, she could not bring herself to.
That was a flaw that she had, the only one for that matter. Yet it was something she didn't plan on fixing yet.
Sonetto starts heading towards the school, and Vertin follows closely. The croaking slowly quiets down as they arrive to the more familiar white and marble.

A Mediterranean tree frog [Hyla meridionalis] poses nicely for photographer Jihene Ben Hassine in Ouarzazat, Morocco. These frogs can be found from southwestern Europe into northwestern Africa. They are larger than the European tree frog [Hyla arborea], with deeper, slower croak.

Angy Jason Toad as Red Hood strangling Tim Drake. I’m so tempted to do one version of this per permutation of characters/costumes, because, let’s be honest...

Through the Years → Mary, Crown Princess of Denmark (761/∞)
17 May 2023 | Crown Princess Mary of Denmark holds a frog jumping out of her hands as she takes part in the counting of Denmark's smallest frog in Geding-Kasted Mose near Aarhus The tree frog (Hyla arborea), which is Denmark's smallest frog, lacks places to live and lakes to breed in. Therefore, breeding lakes, rock formations and gravel piles are established, so that the little green amphibian gets better conditions to live and breed in Geding-Kasted Mose near Aarhus. 10 seed hotels have been set up and 16 breeding lakes have been established in Geding-Kasted Mose. At the same time, 300 frogs and 2700 tadpoles have been released in 2022 - and now the number of frogs is being counted to get an overview of the population.
