Old Scars and New
word count: 3.3k warnings: blood, injury tending, disaster bisexual werewolf being cringe af tags: bandaging/stitching up wounds prompt
this is a slightly altered/updated version of my most popular piece of writing for this verse and thought I'd share it in my continued journey of rebuilding my relationship with my og works!
“Alright, who’s up first?” Nadya announced once everyone filed into the motel room.
Skye flashed a sly grin at the sight of Nadya putting her glasses on. “Ooh, are we gonna play doctor?”
Jayde rolled her eyes and dumped her bag onto the floor, barely holding back a wince. The scent of her own blood invaded her lungs and she already felt bruises forming, but the aches and pains were far from uncommon occurrences. She dismissed any concern. “I’m fine.”
Nadya ignored their comments and pointed at both of the siblings. “You two. Sit.”
“Are you going to tell me to roll over too?” Skye remarked.
At the same time, Jayde reiterated grumpily “I said I’m fine.”
The human threw them a stern glare. Nadya may appear soft and approachable most of the time – even meek to those who underestimated her – but the wolves quickly discovered that she had a hidden talent for intimidation when she wanted to. Jayde and Skye simultaneously took their seats at the edge of one of the beds without further protest.
Satisfied with their obedience, Nadya turned to Toby. “How are you feeling?”
“Right as rain,” he replied.
She made a spin motion with her hand. “Twirl.” He held up his arms and turned in one slow circle, showing her that he was unscathed. “Nothing’s hurting?”
“Nope.”
She concluded her thorough scan with a pat on his shoulder. “Okay, you’re good.”
Toby gave the sisters a childish smirk like he won a game and said “Ha.” Then sauntered over to a chair.
Well, if the game went to whoever got hurt the least, then Jayde would never win. She almost scoffed at herself because the competitive side of her that came out around Toby hated the fact that she’d lose anything to him. She even made a mental note to be more careful the next time they encountered hunters just so that she could rub her success in his face. Maybe that was his real motive – to try a tactic that would work on a toddler simply to get the reckless blonde to take better care of herself. Jayde wouldn’t put it past him.
Nadya addressed Skye next. “You got hit on the head pretty hard. How are you feeling?”
The young wolf widened her eyes. “I can see new colors now.”
Nadya laughed and fished out a small flashlight from her bag. “How about dizziness or nausea?”
Jayde watched on as Nadya carefully combed her fingers through Skye’s hair in search of any damage hidden in the light blonde waves. Skye kicked her feet like a little kid getting a check-up, but Jayde noted how her crooked smile evened out to something more… genuine.
Skye was rarely ever anything but mischievous, as if life were just one big joke to her. Of course, there were precious few moments when her serious self would shine through, where there were no jokes to be made and she acted fairly mellow, much to her older sister’s relief. Jayde was shocked to see that happen more often when she interacted with Nadya.
“I feel fine,” Skye answered, then flinched when Nadya touched the sore spot on her head. “Ow! But that hurts.”
“Sorry.” Nadya winced apologetically. “I don’t see any blood, at least.”
The tip of her finger tapped under Skye’s chin to get her to look up. It was then that Jayde noticed she had been chewing on the inside of her cheek. Skye went still as Nadya shined the light in her eyes. It felt like an eternity to Jayde. To see Nadya be so close to her sister, touching her in ways that Jayde longed for. The older wolf realized – with a hot flush to her cheeks – that she was jealous of Skye. That made her bite her cheek even harder as she forced herself to look down.
Nadya stepped away, allowing Jayde to finally breathe normally again. “You don’t have a concussion, but I suggest you ice that for tonight.”
“Sounds good, doc,” she replied with a wink.
Just when Jayde thought she might get over the momentary lapse in her emotions, Nadya blushed. It was subtle enough that she might have been able to convince herself that she imagined it, but her thoughts took what she saw regardless of rationality and ran.
The possibility had never occurred to her until that moment, but Jayde started to wonder if maybe Skye had feelings for the human, too. Jayde certainly couldn’t blame her if she did. It was Nadya, after all. This girl practically had Jayde wrapped around her finger the first day they met. The thing that ate at Jayde more than that were Nadya’s reactions to Skye. She wouldn’t have that hard of a time believing she also felt something for her. Her sister – in all of her annoying glory – was just as much of a catch.
The concept felt nearly unbearable to consider, but Jayde knew that she would never stand in the way of her sister’s happiness or Nadya’s. Especially if it meant Nadya would get to be with someone far more worthy of her affections. Deep down, Jayde has been looking for a good, rock solid excuse to let her go. This possible outcome might be the easiest to accept. That didn’t mean it wasn’t exceptionally painful.
Wallowing in a pit of her own creation caused Jayde to tune the rest of the world out until Nadya’s voice brought her back down to earth.
“Crap, I grabbed the wrong kit,” she grumbled as she sifted through her bag.
Skye gasped dramatically. “Language.”
“You’re right, I’m sorry,” Nadya said with an amused scoff and backed up towards the door. “I’m gonna go back to the car. I’ll pick up some ice for your head on the way back, too.”
“Toby,” Jayde commanded with a purposeful glance. Despite being clear of immediate danger, she didn’t want anyone going anywhere by themselves. Not even to the parking lot.
He nodded in understanding and got up. “Yeah, I’ll go with her.”
Before they left, Nadya locked eyes with Jayde. For that single second, all of her worries were utterly nonexistent. “We’ll be back in a few minutes. Try not to get into any more trouble.”
“No promises,” Skye replied. Jayde looked to see that the devious smirk had returned to her face.
The siblings remained seated on the musty motel bed once Toby and Nadya disappeared. The comforter felt scratchy, but Jayde still balled her fists into the fabric and stared at the worn carpet underneath her blood splattered boots. Something metallic tickled the edge of her tongue and she sighed at the sting that shortly followed, releasing her flesh from her own vengeful teeth.
“So, what crawled up your ass?” Skye asked to break the awkward silence.
Jayde gave her a brief side-glance. “Nothing.”
“Right.” Her words already dripped with sarcasm. “You’re just acting like you have to take Old Yeller out back for no reason.”
Jayde felt a brief spark boil in her chest, but it died out as quickly as it came. She didn’t have the will to be angry or defensive. She only sighed again and forced her question out. “Do you like her?”
There was no hesitation in Skye’s answer. “Yeah, of course I like her.”
“No, I mean… Do you like her?"
Confusion twisted the younger wolf’s features as she blinked at Jayde for several moments. Jayde wordlessly begged not to make her spell it out. The question alone was already mortifying enough. As soon as her meaning fully sank in, Skye’s expression promptly turned incredulous.
“Forget it,” Jayde said curtly.
But Skye already jumped on it. “No, you know what? I do like her. I really, really like her. Yeah, I want her to have my babies.”
Jayde had to fight the urge to growl. “It was a genuine question, Skye.”
“And you’re a genuine idiot,” she fired back with no remorse. “I don’t want your girlfriend, Jayde.”
“She’s not my girlfriend.”
“She could be.”
“She shouldn’t.”
Skye raised an eyebrow. “That’s not very progressive of you. You’re sounding like Miranda with that old world bullshit. Who cares if Nadya is a human? Just be careful not to break or bite her. That simple.”
Jayde shook her head. “It’s not that…”
The slow nod she saw out of the corner of her eye turned into a shrug as Skye leaned into her. “What if you’re wrong about yourself?” she whispered like a kid telling a secret.
They fell back into another prolonged silence as Jayde rocked back and forth anxiously. She wasn’t wrong about herself, but Jayde somehow still had the smallest bit of hope that she could become someone Nadya deserves. That if she tried to be better, she wouldn’t fight this so hard or put herself through all of this pain. She had it in her. Somewhere. Buried underneath dirt and dust. The best version would peek through the cracks of everything broken about her whenever that girl was near. Jayde just had to figure out a way to widen the fractures and reach through.
But she worried she would break herself even more by doing that.
After a minute, her lungs deflated once more in utter hopelessness. “I am an idiot.”
Familiar footsteps approached the room and Skye nudged her older sister with her elbow. “Chin up, sport.”
Jayde managed to give her a grateful look just as the others returned. Nadya held a small bag of ice in one hand and a different first aid kit in the other. She went to Skye first and handed her the ice for her head.
Guilt immediately flooded Jayde’s system for feeling so jealous. Nadya put in so much effort to take care of them all and Jayde had been worried that she wanted her sister over her. She needed to get over herself.
“Okay, you’re good to go. Just take it easy,” Nadya ordered.
Skye enthusiastically jumped to her feet while balancing the ice pack on top of her head. “Great, I’m gonna go get tacos across the street.”
“Don’t go alone,” Jayde called as she skipped towards the door.
She waved dismissively. “Yeah, yeah, buddy system.”
“You guys want anything?” Toby asked before he trailed after her.
“Just get me whatever you get,” Jayde said.
“Okay. Nadya?”
Nadya sounded slightly distracted as she prepared the kit. “Uh, what kinds are there?”
“Asada, pollo, carnitas.” When she took too long to ponder the options, he translated in a patronizing tone “Beef, chicken, pork.”
She looked up and fixed him with an exasperated stare. “I know what they mean, I was just thinking.”
Toby chuckled. “Any day now.”
“Get me chicken.”
He gave a casual thumbs up. “You got it.”
The motel room grew quiet again once it became only the two young women. The wolf took time to let the human’s presence calm the restless being within. She focused on how her air of crisp autumn spices encompassed her senses, even over the scents of the others. What fascinated Jayde was how her existence always broke through the most powerful things. Werewolves had an incredibly distinct and potent scent, so being around her pack should have masked the humanness of Nadya’s scent. But it didn’t. In fact, Jayde often sensed her before she sensed anything or anyone else. It was always her first.
“Your turn?” Nadya suggested softly, immediately drawing Jayde’s full attention.
Up to that point, she had completely forgotten about her injuries. “Oh, right.”
Nadya came directly to her, standing just inches away. Jayde stared up at her and waited, totally transfixed. “Let’s get a look at that arm.”
Jayde realized she needed to remove her jacket. She snapped herself out of her trance and carefully slipped out of it, grimacing as the fabric tugged at the graze on her bicep. Blood had mostly soaked into the jacket itself, but streaks of crimson still smeared across her skin and reached as low as her wrist.
Nadya bent down and adjusted her glasses to get a better look, but that furrow in her brow looked like it took too much effort. “Do you think we could move to the bathroom? The lighting sucks out here and I gotta get you cleaned up.”
“Yeah.”
Nadya followed closely behind as they entered the bathroom, but lingered over Jayde’s shoulder after turning the light on. “Hey, did you take a hit to the back?”
Jayde craned her neck to see why she looked so concerned, but couldn’t see much of anything. The strain of twisting only made her injured shoulder spike with pain. “Um, I’m not sure. Maybe? I remember getting punched or something.”
“There’s blood, Jay,” Nadya informed her, still inspecting the wound. “Take this off.”
Jayde felt her entire body flare with intense heat as Nadya tugged at her shirt. She hesitated for a few beats to let the embarrassment pass. It wasn’t like Nadya hadn't seen her without a shirt on before. Hell, she’s seen her naked. She’s seen her turn into a goddamn werewolf, for fuck’s sake. Jayde wanted to curse at herself for being so stupid.
She struggled to get out of the shirt on her own. It was enough that her shoulder felt as sore as it did, but now that she had been made aware of it, the wound on Jayde’s back stung like a bitch. As much as she wanted to hide her pain, she wasn’t able to stop herself from flinching when she tried to work one of her arms out of the ruined clothing.
“Here, let me –” Nadya reached to help, but then her pulse spiked in the wolf’s ears like a drum had been struck and she stopped short. “Can I..?”
“Sure, yeah,” Jayde stammered and braced herself as the human stepped into her space.
Nadya’s hands carefully gripped the bottom of the bloodied shirt and slowly pushed it up her torso. Jayde could tell that she tried not to, but there were still a couple of times where her fingers brushed up against bare skin. Jayde clenched her jaw tightly. Just those small, brief touches caused intense tingling to spread outwards from the places of contact. She shut her eyes and held her breath as her wolf fought to rise to the surface. A shiver raced along Jayde’s spine as she quickly dampened it. After a tense half-second, she felt the restless animal reluctantly retreat.
Despite nearly losing control, Jayde didn’t feel afraid. Maybe because she knew Nadya wasn’t in any danger. The wolf only wanted a glimpse of her, but the last thing Jayde wanted was to cause any potential fear. She certainly didn’t want to think up some shitty excuse to explain why her eyes started to glow.
The two of them successfully got the shirt over Jayde’s head with minimal pain and discarded it on the floor. Meeting Nadya’s gaze after that felt far braver than facing any hunter. She had this look in her warm brown eyes that Jayde couldn’t quite decipher. However, the physical effect in Nadya’s body was more obvious. Being so close, Jayde sensed it all.
An erratic heartbeat. A clipped breath caught in her throat. A blooming scent that tempted Jayde nearer.
Those were not things she noticed in Nadya with anyone else, Jayde realized.
“I’m going to, uh…” Nadya motioned awkwardly, finally just shuffling behind her again.
Jayde cleared her throat to banish her own nerves and brushed her tangled hair over her shoulder. “How’s it looking back there?”
“This is pretty deep,” she murmured and began to clean it. “You really didn’t feel this?”
Jayde tensed at the incredibly cold sensation of a disinfectant wipe against her hot skin, but she still gave a half shrug. “I remember being hit, but that’s all.”
“Well, you got lucky. It could have punctured your lung.”
Jayde set her hands on the edge of the sink and watched Nadya’s reflection carefully through the mirror. “Yeah, I feel lucky.”
“That better not be sarcasm. Not when I’m looking at all these scars.” Nadya scolded as she got the stitches ready. “It looks like you should be dead ten times over.”
“It’s because I should be.”
They briefly shared a look. Nadya’s expression remained unreadable. Not that Jayde had the time to properly study it before she went back to work.
She didn’t say anything while she made a few sutures — being too focused on her task of mending a werewolf — but then Jayde saw her brown eyes peek over her shoulder again. “I’m really glad you aren’t, by the way.”
Jayde exhaled an almost whispered response. “Me too.”
A bandage was carefully placed over the newly stitched wound, but Nadya lingered behind her. Jayde wondered if maybe she had spotted another wound that hadn’t quite traveled through her nerves and up to her brain yet, but then felt an incredibly delicate sensation tickle her lower back. It took a moment for her to realize that it was the tip of Nadya’s finger trailing over what had to be one of her scars. Jayde froze in place, not having a single clue how to react.
“How many are there?” Nadya’s voice sounded distant.
Jayde gripped the edges of the sink so that she wouldn’t fall over as the girl traced another sensitive mark. She was afraid that the slightest movement would cause her to stop. “I’ve never counted.”
A soft hum echoed in the bathroom. “I guess you’ve got a couple more now. Which reminds me…” Nadya pulled her hand away, but before disappointment twisted an invisible knife in the werewolf’s chest, her palm rested on her hip and turned her around.
The human’s sudden willingness to touch her in ways that could be considered intimate left Jayde’s mind in a utter stupor, stirring her inner self once more. She didn’t know what to make of it. Or what to do. She knew what she wanted to do, though that remained a line Jayde felt she shouldn’t cross.
Nadya went to work on the laceration that cut through her upper arm and Jayde found herself thoroughly fascinated with the process. The human’s eyes were so focused, making sure each and every stitch was up to her standard. The way her brows knitted in concentration — the thin frame of her glasses resting on the bridge of her nose — replaced Jayde’s heart with a pair of fluttering wings. She could stare at her for hours.
Nadya finally glanced up while she wrapped her arm. This time, her blush was entirely noticeable. “What?”
The question made Jayde realize she had been smiling. She quickly looked away, though she couldn’t fully wipe the expression from her face. “Nothing.”
“Okay,” Nadya said slowly, confused amusement written on her face. “Well, I’m all done.”
Jayde nodded as she cleaned the mess up. As soon as the kit was packed, Nadya gave the wolf an unsure look and turned to leave the bathroom. On impulse, Jayde caught her wrist to stop her. A small gasp escaped Nadya’s lips at the unexpected touch, but she still waited expectantly.
“Thank you.” Jayde caressed the smooth curve of her wrist with her thumb. For the first time, she didn’t try to hide it. She wanted Nadya to feel her gratitude. “For taking care of us.”
Nadya’s features softened into an absolutely stunning smile. “I like taking care of you.”
It took everything Jayde had not to pull her in. She yearned to feel Nadya against her. Longed to brush their lips together. To hold her close and swallow every breath. Feel all the ways she could get her heart to race. Instead, Jayde’s fingers went slack and Nadya slipped out of her grasp, leaving her alone in the bathroom with the ghost of her contact still prickling across the surface of her skin.

Zack: What's the matter, scared? (He said in a joking matter to zee zee).
I do feel bad for you though. Wanna come inside, it's warm and cozy.
ZeeZee let out a low growl and backed up a little in skepticism, but seeing how Zack was being sincere in his offer, he gave in and went inside.
The minute he had entered, the wizard's shivering had come to a complete stop.
It was, in fact, warm and cozy, just as promised. Once ZeeZee finished slowly scanning the area and sniffing around, he made himself comfortable on a random spot on the floor.
ZeeZee finally settled down in a loaf position and stared at Zack in silence. In response to this, Zack gave him an awkward smile. ZeeZee lay his head down on the floor and shut his eyes, grateful to have an opportunity to rest after all the drama and fuss that took place in the clouds.
Seeing ZeeZee like this made Zach give into his urges, for he bent down near him and started to lightly pet his head. Normally, ZeeZee would have lashed out in reaction, but he was far too tired to resist.
In fact, he had begun to purr for the first time in a while. The sensation of being pet is something ZeeZee hadn't felt in so long.
In fact... the only person to have ever pet him before was... Queen Somnia herself.
Whenever he was feeling upset, sick, or lonely, she was right by his side. Softly scratching behind his ears as she hummed a gentle tune.
Oh, what ZeeZee would give to hear her voice and feel her touch just one last time...
Tears began silently rolling down the wizard's face. His face grew hot, and his stomach turned with guilt.
This stranger was treating him with kindness, yet he felt as if he didn't deserve any of it.

This is "The Doctor", a resident of the nightmare realm, who has been there long enough to have been almost completely corrupted. His face is normally just a pitch black void hole but sometimes you can see eyes and/or teeth in there
He wants to help people, but he's almost completely lost his mind, and can sometimes act a bit... Feral.
Surprisingly, the nightmare realm's usual effect of making people lose every memory of their life before they ended up here, hasn't managed to take away his medical knowledge. He's still very smart, despite everything.
Unfortunately he seems to scare off most people who he would otherwise have helped...
#my art#Ok okkkk so this guy is from the world in my mind I live in parallel to reality#But I wanna make some of the guys from there into ocs too because they're neat#Love this guy. He's kidnapped me several times (LMAO ok there's context but I'd have to write a damn novel to explain that)#Oh and the nightmare realm isn't the world in my mind. Well it's a dimension in a multiverse I travel in there#But uhhhhh I spend basically all my time in the nightmare realm now bcause I like the vibes#But before that... I just spent time with various video game characters#Asriel from undertale became a scientist that created dimensional portals. And we kinda found the nightmare realm on accident#We don't talk much anymore but y'know. Every once in a while I'll visit#Last time though he had been forced into working for an evil agency that was trying to harness my demi-god like powers#Because in the universe in my mind I'm a shape-shifting horror that cannot truly die (I respawn)#I actually nerfed my own powers in-universe because I hadn't been to responsible with them in the past#Well I gave the ability to regulate my powers to a sort of evil-ish counterpart of myself (void)#And then we made a deal to cut eachother's power down to a reasonable level#And now neither of us can re-acquire that dangerous level of power#Uhhh. Isn't that kinda how the things in harry potter work? A vessel with a chunk of your power in it? Idk#Anywayy_yyyys#Void decided to do some trickster shit and tried to absorb me for my power and become a god recently.#So I was like ''ok no more chances bitch'' and finally reduced her to a basically mortal form and banished her#To some random dimension I probably won't ever go to.#(She's been a problem for yeeeeaaaarrrrsss but we were occasionally chill so I didn't wanna do it but y'know.)#We even kinda accidentally had a magic-baby??? Sorta? There's no better way to explain that one but yeah idk where that chick ran off to#Y'know I refer to void as she mostly but she's kinda just whatever she wants to be in the moment. Fucking chaos incarcerate#Her original job was absorbing forgotten ideas. Characters or concepts or entire worlds fogotten by my mind#Woukd become part of her#UUhhhhhhhhhhhhhm.#Oh and void was in charge of the evil organization that wanted to harness my power.#She had possessed the leader of some government scientist lab thing.#And. Well. Yeah.#Congrats to anyone who reads all this and I'm sorry for the brief glimpse into complete derangement

becoming more invested in one random side character who is fucking dead by the time my main plot starts than the actual protagonist is just a rite of passage for my writing process at this point
#big oc ramblingin the tags warning u h.#save me melisadd...... isa............#a horrible ugly name for a horrible ugly guy#however. every lover is a soldier. etc etc.#yes he gets killed because of his own ambition but he also gets killed because of his devotion to his city. and by extension his paradoxica#devotion to rhys (who has become the city itself in a weird parasitic sort of way). he hates what rhys stands for and he hates his idealism#and his tyranny andsuch but they have such a fucked up (literally) cannibalistic relationship going back to faustus and the ivy war#that neither of them can function without the other. rhys' fate is sealed the moment he kills isa because theres no-one left to balance him#out and challenge his plans. and he spirals from this genius up-and-coming ruthless commander willing to do anything to keep his home safe#into a lazy power-hungry beast relying on the prestige of his ancestors and the fear of the people to keep him fed. and he misses isa#as much as he hates to admit it#and he misses argent and he misses what they all had and as he gets older he starts losing the ability to distinguish between the past and#the present. hence the public display of argent's innards and isa's rotting corpse being dug up and given a seat at the table at the feast.#but back to isa. isa doesn't want to fight rhys - he believes there's good in him up until the last second of his life.#his execution is the death of any hope of redemption rhys might have had.#noneof that makes sense but anyway you get what im trying to say right#<- what a late republic hyperfix does to a mf#they are based loosely on the first triumvirate and should all eat each other !!#i can make my own narrative ghosts god dammit#dyrposts#r. a. bicinius#m. f. voscium#i made these guys like. two days ago??? but i cant stop thinking about them#if anyone is interested. i will say more things about dr#writing#augh#rhys isnt technically a main character either feel like i should clarify that he. dies in the first chapter#story focuses on eos furi and gabier !!! yippee !!!#jase writes#FUTURE ME EDIT: THIS IS ALL WILDLY OUTDATED :DDDDD OH WELL

Is Shaun Nora's child? If so, does she view X6 as family due to his closeness to Father, or just as a friend?
shaun is nora's biological child, yep, and post-institute when asked she says she has two sons (referring to shaun and synth!shaun--but a minor plot point in my fic is that she doesn't tell anyone about synth!shaun being a synth. if pressed for details, she just says her eldest passed away recently and that typically shuts down any further questions).
oh, edited to add bc i don't think i was clear: she treats synth!shaun as a son too. she takes to him straightaway. he's still a child who views her as his mother, and she still wants to be a parent. they have a good relationship.
she does view x6 as family, but in a found-family sort of way that doesn't have anything to do with them sharing dna. she thinks shaun calling himself "father" is extremely--i think paternalistic is the right word, and she emphatically does not approve. she feels family is a lot more than genetic material, and so is parenthood, which relates back to her family situation mentioned here.
she and x6 grow close as they work together and kind of outside the bounds of father's knowledge. x6 is a smart guy and figures out nora's still working for the railroad, and for his own reasons keeps it to himself, and nora's aware that if she actually reported how snarky and independent x6 is, he'd be sent to reconditioning. so their relationship is tense for a while, but eventually grows genuine and very close.
i think outside of nick, x6 is the companion she's closest with by the end of things.

like, sam and al were good friends before sam leapt, the show establishes that much. we know that sam helped al through his alcoholism and al helped get project quantum leap off the ground, so they've presumably bonded over those experiences. but as the show reveals more about al you grow to understand that he has a well of deeply painful memories and associations that sam is completely unaware of. he'll hint at them with 'nam references or ex-wife jokes, but not touch them -- not unless he's forced into it (like in MIA) or if he feels it's necessary to help sam. so sam's memory loss intersects with al's emotional reticence in this really fascinating, kinda fucked up way... what has sam forgotten about al, and what has al omitted?

okay so i have an idea for a very long story. i figured out how i wanted it to end, so let me know what y’all think.
--
i’m thinking it can be just one part but to really flesh it out, it should probably be four parts [like four separate books]: the beginning, which establishes everything, the first middle part which will probably be shorter but it’ll establish the world after the events of the first part, the second middle part which starts to ramp up the stakes more for the main characters, and then the final part which is where all the events of the previous three parts come together and we get some emotional beats from the characters and badda bing badda boom.
but the think i’m going to have running through all the parts, starting with the later bits of the first part, is a romance. this is when i need y’alls help.
Jacob and Nashua meet in the first part. They’re our protagonists. They’re kind of like, not friends, but allies. They come from opposite sides of a war fought between the people and its rulers [Jacob is on the side of the people and Nashua is a prince/commander of some troops and loyal to the crown] but once they meet, Nashua especially starts to question his own role in things.
But in the first part, the only relationship that’s growing is friendship. I’m thinking this can be like, a slow burn enemies to friends to lovers kind of deal. it’s going to take a lot to write it but oh well.
So the first book will have Nashua seemingly sacrificing himself for another character’s wellbeing. I’m not going to make that the end of the first book though because I don’t want to end on that cliffhanger lol, but I am thinking it can be the second to last ‘part’ of this book. It’ll take another couple of chapters to realize he’s still okay, which is good! And then i’ll have the first book end with Jacob and Nashua still parting ways but the war is over and Jacob is unsatisfied because he lost people he loved but Nashua basically tells him that this is just the new normal, and that they have to make sacrifices for freedom, etc etc.
The second book will be a little shorter I think because it’s really just going to exist to establish a world post-first book war. Jacob is going to be struggling, Nashua isn’t going to be around as much, even though he and Jacob are friends, and Nashua is going to be insistent that he has to now take on a rising force inside the kingdom trying to seize power. Jacob will try to ask how he can help but will get rebuffed. It’s Nashua’s fight, not Jacob’s.
By the midpoint of the book you learn that Nashua is getting into some nasty shit in order to take down this threat and by the midpoint, Jacob is trying to convince Nashua to not go down that path which now includes some dark magic bullshit, but Nashua is so caught up in the desire to take down this rise in power by this other character, and he enjoyed the small rewards from the magic he’s already tried, that he doesn’t listen.
Because he doesn’t listen, he winds up unleashing a powerful, evil force into their world. Nashua also dies, and Jacob spends the second half of the book upset about it and struggling to contain the force that Nashua unleashed.
But by the end of the book, Nashua is back — however now he and Jacob are going to be blown to the shadow world in which the evil forces came from. That’s how the book ends, and we don’t know now if ANY of them are alive.
The third book will contain the after effects of book 2 wihle still playing off of the turmoil of book 1. Jacob comes back without Nashua and is struggling because of it but wont’ tell anyone really what happened in the shadow world in full detail. Finally we learn that Nashua was still stuck in the shadow world because he is punishing himself for the damage he caused in their own world. He doesn’t want to face it, he doesn’t want to keep on living his life like he didn’t just cause a lot of damage. But Nashua does eventually come back but it’s for a sinister reason. Magic folk who are mad at him are trying to brainwash him.
The whole third book won’t be as long as the first book but it’ll still esablish a lot: The first part will be a development of Nashua and Jacob’s realationship. The second and third parts of the book will highlight Jacob’s own fall from grace in the desire to save those he loves but in turn it really screws him up and Nashua is helpless to stop it. The fourth part of the book will introduce an antagonist who is misunderstood herself, but will also serve to highlight Nashua and Jacob’s relationship even more, specifically the pining portion of it.
And finally the third book will end happy, actually. The antagonist turned out not to be so bad after all, no one dies, Nashua and Jacob are still on the ground together, etc etc.
The final book will be an emotional one as we lead up to the end. Nashua is going to die again, this time seemingly for real. I’m going to have the first several chapters again devoted to Jacob’s reaction which is going to be more intense than before now that they’ve gone through all these events together and it’s going to be clear now that friendship is not just friendship but there’s something else blooming as well [romance].
Nashua eventually comes back but before he does, I’m going to establish this other shadow world in which he was held. It is more like a spirit world. And it’s scary as hell.
The book will continue on with some things, I haven’t quite landed on it exactly but I”m going to have Jacob put in a scary position again as he tries to save everyone, and I’m going to introduce a character that also helps highlight Nashua’s emotional journey from soulless prince, devoutee to the crown, to where he is now. The character will be the child of someone Nashua met up with in book four. He promised he’d take care of the child, so he does. Jacob doesn’t like the child as much because he views the kid as the reason for Nashua’s most recent death, which was traumatizing.
But they all work it out.
However, when the kid [I haven’t named them yet idk a name???] falls ill and dies, Nashua pulls out the stops to try and get him back and make him okay.
But, by doing that, he makes a secret deal with the spirit world that Jacob, nor really anyone but the child, knows about.
After that, we finally learn of our real villain who is THEE king, THEE person who has been calling the shots. It was the character we were introduced to in the first book, the one that Nashua first sacrifices himself for and the one we thought would be an ally.
He had shown up again in book three, and we get the indication that he was not just a random village resident, but he still isn’t sinister. Now we learn that he’s actually been calling the shots the entire time and has had a finger in almost every aspect of their lives.
Jacob is sent into a tail spin mentally about what parts of his life were meddled with and which parts were authentic. Nashua is determined to keep headstrong and figure out how to stop The Bad Guy. I’ll even have Nashua tell Jacob that both of them together are “real” which will imply that if they are together in a chapter, then the events taking place are likely events not being meddled with.
By the end of book four, their relationship together is very obvious. It’s way more than just friendship, but they still haven’t said Those Words Yet TM.
However, as they’re running up to the final battle, Nashua and Jacob get pinned down by an adversary. I haven’t decided what character I want this to be, probably a neutral one that’s maybe been influenced by the true bad guy, but I haven’t decided. But in any case, I want them to be virtually unkillable.
Because now I want to envoke that deal that Nashua made with the spirit world. Only the spirit world would be able to take down this adversary, and if the adversary isn’t taken down, then Jacob is likely going to die, but Jacob has to stick around until the end.
So instead, I’m going to have Nashua finally activate the terms of his deal in order to sacrifice himself to take down the adversary. It sounds like a boring ‘we’ve already done this’ scene but I’m going to make it really beautiful.
Like, straight up I’m going to have Nashua sing Jacob’s praises, tell Jacob how amazing he is, how good he is deep down and how Jacob helped Nashua change, and how Nashua learned so much, and that Jacob isn’t just a fighter for the people but really a good person and a loving person. It’s going to be a long speech, but I think it’s worth it.
I’m going to have it encompass their journey together over the last three [althought at this point since we’re near the end, four] books and it’s going to be VERY impactful. The spirit world is coming, and the deal that’s been hanging over Nashua’s head and indeed the readers’ head will finally be acted on.
Nashua is going to the spirit world, that’s always been in the cards. You will understand that he is going to the spirit world and there’s no coming back from that. This will really feel like THEE final death for Nashua, and it’ll be sad, but it’ll also be emotionally satisfying because I’m going to have it so you feel like Nashua has been wanting to say all this for a long time now, like a very long time, but never could.
Like this scene has the emotional impact and weight as only a multi-book slowburn romance could have.
Nashua says I Love You because his knowledge of Jacob knowing he’s loved and that he is loving in return is enough for Nashua to find some kind of peace and enact the spirit world deal.
Jacob is just too stunned to speak, he doesn’t know what to do if he should tackle Nashua to stop the spirit world from coming or shut him up so the spirit world doesn’t come or what — but since we know Jacob feels the same way, we aren’t shocked when instead what comes out of his mouth is ‘don’t do this’ because this isn’t how he wanted this to happen. We know he feels the same way, and them talking about it shouldn’t have been here, but at a moment of peace where they could finally open up to each other.
But instead, Jacob doesn’t get a chance to say I Love You back [sorry, I know that’s frustrating] and Nashua is taken with a smile on his face. We’re going to end that chapter with Jacob on the floor, crying his eyes out, alone.
Okay, now, here’s the final two chapters — I hope you’re still with me here:
Jacob picks himself up and finds that kid that’s been palling around with them since he’s integrel to the defeat of The Bad Guy TM. Jacob also finds his sibling who also has skin in the game, and some other powerful creatures.
I’m not going to have Jacob really focus on the emotional weight of Nashua’s sacrifice though because I have too much story to wrap up and at this point, it’s not about their relationship anymore, right? So yeah, they all team up, they are betrayed by some magic person who turns out to be working for The Big Bad, but no big deal it’s fine. I’m going to have Jacob say something like “That’s not who I am” when the Bad Guy expects Jacob to kill him like Jacob has killed before — and I think that’ll be enough acknowledgement to the previous chapter. The chapter ends with the bad guy defeated, and the kid who now has the bad guy’s powers is just gonna peace out because I don’t need to care about him anymore.
Also I have decided by this point, after one scene in the chapter where Jacob thinks Nashua is back, and says his name, that that moment will be the last time Jacob acknowledges Nashua. It’s just too annoying to have to keep talking about it, right?
So anyway. The final chapter! Or I guess this is just the epilogue? I haven’t decided yet.
Jacob and his sibling kind of go back to how they had been doing things. No acknowledgement about the people they’ve lost, really no acknowledgement about Nashua. Jacob’s sibling says Nashua’s name once but grouped together with others, kind of like an after thought.
Jacob gets wounded very badly and winds up at the castle. He now has to stay there. I’m not going to give an explanation as to why, but he just has to stay there. He doesn’t really do anything, but he sees some old friends, which I guess is nice. It’s a different life than the one he just left, but that’s okay. He’s just gonna loaf around. He’s deserved it! He’s deserved some chill time with some old friends that have been taken in by the crown as well and who also seems to have fun there. It’s also more realistic.
Also, guess who is there as well??? NASHUA! Nashua has been in the castle the entire time!
I dont’ think i’m going to explain how in the course of one chapter he goes from the spirit world to the castle. He’s just going to be there. I know there’s not a lot of time between his big speech and his scene where he leaves, his sacrifice, but that’s okay. He’s there!
I thought about including a few chapters of Jacob trying to figure out how to get Nashua out of the spirit world but I figured it’s easier if Nashua just shows up. Less writing for me to do, and by now I would have done a lot of the writing, and I imagine my editor would just like to have an ending and be done with it.
Nashua is back at the castle! The castle in which tortured him and brainwashed him and was the source of a lot of his grief, even the place he’s fought against a few times by now with Jacob and his friends and family, but it’s okay because he’s helping to change the Castle’s culture. I don’t know how he’s doing it, but it’s implied. He just does it. Or maybe I’ll imply that he did it with the kid who wound up getting into power, but I’m not gonna show the kid either.
But he’s back! He’s back! It only took a chapter, and we don’t know how he’s back, but he’s back. No explanation, no reasoning, no chapters highlighting how he got out, he’s just out.
I know his final scene was emotional and implied he was going to the spirit world for good but HA subvert those expectations! Bam! And since both Nashua and Jacob are there together, to call back to the “we are” (real) moment between them, that means that this setting indeed is real! Everything here is now real and not being meddled with.
And they lived happily ever after in this Castle, no questions asked.
.........
and this is why i don’t lke the concept of cas being in heaven in 1520.

Part 3 of Shadow au, Syns making progress! I think! He thinks! We don't know! Also added some extra stuff to this one because I was inspired by the height chart art using Darkness' extra sharp design so woo! Enjoy your boy @seasidemew! This part was actually meant to be bit heavier but lmao I've changed the order of my canon it's fine lmao so you get another relaxing one
Conversations and Progress
The dark hued two delicately landed in the middle of the makeshift camp, the grass was soft and cool under her feet as she glanced wearily to the side, her pink toned brother snuffled in his sleep stretching wiggling made a mrrp and rolling over with an exhale returning to lightly snoring as she let out a faint sigh of relief. He didn't actually know her yet, they'd never met and frankly after what happened she intended to keep it that way.
The orange hued two lifted her head from where she sat leaning against a tree looking at her sister with dark bags forming under her eyes. She stood slowly motioning with her head and stepped out of the campsite walking a small distance before stopping and waiting for her taller sister.
"What has he asked then?" May hugged herself as she asked the question, thumbs rubbing her arms softly in self soothing motions as she turned her head to glance at her sibling.
"This and that, he still wonders how and why we know each other and he's suggested his own theories he thinks we have a truce or blackmail on each other. And he's been asking what we've been saying about him naturally."
The orange one hummed uncomfortably squeezing her own arms, "and are you still being safe? He's not threatened you or followed you back to your nest?"
"No, not yet, he's moved as if to join me on the flight home but I told him I needed my beauty sleep and my privacy and I didn't like a man that disrespected either of those." She shrugged casually, "it seemed to work."
"Citrine… you really must be more careful..if he, I don't know he might turn if he thinks you're just screwing with him or get real nasty if he gets bored of the games."
"I know.." Her tail swayed, "I know. I'm being careful don't worry so much May, you should be thinking of yourself more I mean look at those bags. Are they designer? You could steal a purse with them when did you last get a proper nights' sleep?"
May looked away squeezing herself, "not since I thought I saw him that night… not properly since finding out I was right.." She shook her head looking back at her sister, "But it's my JOB to worry about you and to worry about Matt. I'm the oldest, you're my baby sister and he's my baby brother. I can't just sleep peacefully knowing he might lurk into camp and slaughter either of you."
Darkness grimaced to herself "May.." She felt Mays hands grab her face reaching up with some difficulty for the height difference.
"No, don't you May me, you're family okay? And I care about you a lot so I'm gonna worry."
She sighed, moving to take her sisters' wrists, planning to move her hands off her face, "you're too forgiving all things considering with me you know."
"You've grown and you've changed, I know you feel bad over what happened because you push away any kindness thinking you don't deserve it, but you do. I mean you keep checking in on us and watching that, that guy for us even though he could be a threat to you. AND hush hush ehp not finished close your mouth, and you're trying to change your identity claiming a new name moving on from being Darkness, and I'm really proud of you for it. Maybe I am too forgiving but I think you've earned the forgiveness."
Darkness hummed awkwardly looking away with her eyes, "I mean the whole experimental new names thing is personal because the name was dumb not some, spiritual metaphor." She moved Mays hands to emphasis the denial of self flinching and pulling her hands away when May winced.
"Ah-!" May looked at the bloody little marks on her wrist and frowned before grabbing one of her sisters hands who tried to retract them pulling it close to examine, she squeezed one of her fingers hearing her hiss in discomfort as a jagged crystal protruded from her paw like a claw.
"What did you do…" her voice was soft and deeply concerned as she examined Darkness' hand noticing the spikes protruding from her wrist also, "Citrine…"
"Dont…that names too nice for me.." She sighed softly, "I saw him. During the day fighting a Mega evolved Aggron. It didnt stand a chance… I got, scared, and panicked so I added more to myself to be stronger so if he turns nasty, if I have to fight him it'll give me the edge and extra strength."
"That must hurt.."
"It's not so bad, rather ache now and win then avoid needed pain and lose."
"I don't agree with you doing this to yourself, but it's done now.. If it comes to it you know I'd fight by your side against him."
"You're such a mother sometimes." Darkness chuckled softly, "I suppose I like the sound of those odds." May gently released her hand.
"Just please don't do anything else like this to yourself okay? Cause I don't want it turning into a self punishment thing. I know you because you're like me, you're from me, I am your mother." Though her tone was stern it did end in a playful way as she offered her sister a comforting smile.
"Hm, fine sure whatever mom," Darkness laughed softly, "I should go entertain him then for a bit, don't want him getting too bored or jealous." Moving to step away.
"Please stay." She paused at Mays request, "I, want Matt to meet you and I just, I have a bad feeling tonight. I don't know I feel bad letting you leave to go to him. I worry you won't come back. So, stay? You can have my bed." Darkness swished her tail smiling softly to her sister, usually she'd argue about having to go but to some degree she'd been wanting to meet her little brother too even if she was anxious with his initial negative experience with shadow mewtwo. "and I might actually sleep better tonight with you both nearby and safe!"
"aah fine I guess you've convinced me," smiling casually she watched Mays shoulders drop in relief as they moved to walk back to the camp.
"I think Matt will love you once he gets to know you realize who you are...and I think you're wrong Citrine is a nice name for you you deserve a good name and I think you should get a name that's pretty. Like Crystal or Jewel or uh Diamond or Moonstone." Darkness snorted softly.
"I'm noticing a theme here," smirking as May floundered.
"Well you said Citrine was a gem so like eehh was trying to think of other gem things I thought you liked it for that?"
"Well, it's like a yellow gem and it's kinda pretty..though it was his suggestion before he swapped to Citrus cause I got the two confused."
"Ah yes orange scented," May lightly bumped into her sister playful as they walked into camp, "I mean you're a pretty gem, it's up to you what you choose."
Darkness hesitated for a moment, "I, was thinking of maybe looking at M starting names…since like you and Matt..but that's probably intruding.."
May smiled at her comfortingly, "Hey that'd be nice, or if you pick an A starting name we could become M A M." Darkness lightly hit her face shoving her away as she laughed.
"Never mind I'm never taking suggestions from you ever," but she laughed fondly as May chuckled in mischievous motioning for Darkness to take her bed, a few leaves carefully arranged on the ground for padding against the dirt just as cushioning the best they could do considering they were out in the wilds with no equipment.
Darkness moved to sit but pointed at her in play threat, "you better sleep." With May putting her hands up in surrender before moving to find a spot to sit to sleep as Darkness awkwardly tried to get comfortable. She missed her cot back at her nest but she appreciated the gesture and that her sister wanted her there. She stretched out and then curled up using the middle of her tail as a cushion. May found a tree trunk to lean against, she looked up past the treeline scanning the sky for a moment before taking off her glasses carefully placing them down on the grass besides her before as she brought her knees to her chin crossing her arms over her knees and nuzzling her cheek into her arm crook to sleep.
From far away higher up, Syns tail swayed and thumped aggressively into the tree trunk of the branch he was sitting on. He scanned over the area where the pair had made camp watching the other shadow pokemon join them as his brows furrowed in frustration and confusion, why was she staying there?? What about their chats? His tail thumped the tree trunk in frustration again.
He moved to stand and stepped casually from the branch he was stood on to fly over, if she wasn't going to come see him he'd go see her. He felt the air shifting as he grew closer, a subtle but tangible building of energy as he approached causing him to slow but not stop. The air shimmered and he stopped before he flew right into the shining white dome that materialized feeling the sharp gust caused by its sudden creation. He watched it glisten a shine of white before fading and wondered what that was, he reached a hand out with practiced caution feeling his fingers collide with something solid the white shimmer reappearing where his fingers made impact.
"A protect huh…" He pulled his hand back and the glow faded but as he observed where the dome had originally formed there was a slight haze to indicate it's existence that it wasn't gone just simply blending into its surroundings. He started to wonder how a protect this large and powerful could form as his eyes glanced to the campsite, Mays whited over eyes stared forward without seeing glowing with psychic energy. He should've guessed.
Judging by the size and strength of the protect, he theoretically COULD smash his way through it if he really went for it but watching her eyes roll back and her body slump to the ground gave him the impression it was a subconscious move and breaking it might actually wake her. Besides, there's no way it'd last forever. He'd wager by morning it would've weakened or faded. Sighing just a little annoyed he moved to go find a new perch to watch them more closely he supposed.
——————————————————————
Syn grumbled as rays of light beamed offendingly right into his face, he squinted at the sun with a faint growl lazily moving his hand to shove a cloud over it for five more minutes as he wiggled his shoulders to readjust himself against his tree trunk. As he tried to return to his sleep his brain became aware of the lack of psychic tension that had been present the night before practically dragging his thoughts around to force him into an awake state to which he groaned softly squinting to the side of camp, he blinked his tired eye momentarily mistaking glistening droplets of water as the haze around the protect before realizing it was in fact gone.
Slightly unhappily he sat up to properly peer at the campsite, it was early first light and they were all still asleep. He could've easily approached but also he didn't want to trigger another protect, he'd wait till May was at least conscious deducing she'd be less likely to do anything spontaneously powerful with an awake brain.
The Pinky one, Matt or something had managed to roll off of his makeshift leaf bed in the night and had contorted himself into an obscure position with his head touching his lower back nearly, legs stretched backwards and tail wrapping around the tip resting near his chest. Citrine meanwhile had curled herself up quite small into a ball much like other feline creatures. And May was still flopped out on the floor, chin in the grass body twisted so her legs were still up as she was sat which would probably put an ache on her spine.
The sun won its battle against Syns block cloud and the sunlight gently warmed the leaves and grace dancing over the sleeping lot in the campsite with only May grumbling her legs finally falling in a flop as she rolled over to hide her face from the sun before clumsily sitting up and promptly bashing the side of her head into the tree trunk she'd originally been leant again with clearly no spacial awareness. Syn did a mock flinch to himself quietly chuckling as she quietly groaned rubbing the side of her head with a soft "ow" as she slowly got to her feet grabbing her glasses and waddling off to the side.
Syn contemplated walking into the camp with her gone, maybe he could grab her brother as a bargaining chip or drag Citrus away to find out why she abandoned their usual talks but he knew that wouldn't really help him get closer to his goal. He couldn't force May or Citrus to reveal their secrets, couldn't intimidate or threaten them into wanting to join him because they could attack him and would likely reject him. He had to play it calm and he had to be approachable, he was a charming guy he just had to let May see that like how Citrus did.
He sighed softly collecting himself with an inhale and exhale running a hand past his eye to clear away any sleep and smoothly feeling up his horn, he was quite the specimen after all he's sure they could both see that. He moved casually to glide along to see where May went, he didn't want Citrus mad that he ruined her beauty sleep after all.
He was glad by the lack of energy in the air it meant his theory was correct and it was subconscious otherwise another barrier would have appeared as he passed her siblings. He found her knelt by a small stream, her glasses carefully placed down beside her, her head was currently under the water and making bubbles with her head slightly shaking before she sat up and breathed and shook her head again to shake the water off. She squinted past the water on her eyelashes making opening her eyes and seeing kind of difficult. In her side vision she could make out a darker colored shape before she brought her hands up to rub her eyes to clean the sleep away and to clean her face from the grass and mud stuck under her chin.
"G'morning sis," She yawned past her hands cleaning her face, "sleep well?"
"Oh," the male voice that reached her ears caused her to stiffen in terror, "so she's your sister?" Mays head whipped around as she shoved herself quickly against the floor to half stumble and half throw herself backwards scrambling away from Syn as he drank water collected in his hand from the stream. He turned to look at her as she fell into a sit at a distance from him, he could see her eyes were wide and breathing rapidly.
He couldn't deny feeling a bit disappointed at the reaction, the fight had been a while ago surely she would've gotten over it by now and besides he knows Citrus and her have been talking so he didn't get what the reaction was for. He moved his hand to pick up her forgotten glasses holding them out to her.
"I think you need these, right?" Her eyes were trained on him watching his every move down to the flick of his tail. "Look I don't want to fight, I'm not here to hurt you I just wanna talk." He offered one of his dashing smiles and the sight of his sharp teeth sent a feeling of dread through her.
He could see she was thinking locked in place unable to decide what to do, he in this moment kind of held the glasses over her because she needed them so she couldn't flee safely without them but he could see she didn't feel comfortable staying either. It was frustrating he was hoping for a warmer reception but he kept his face steady letting his brows fall in a sad kind of way rather than displaying frustration, acting sad instead of showing his real emotions.
"I'm sorry, I must have really hurt you huh?" He copied the tone of someone genuinely apologetic quite well, he didn't necessarily feel bad about the fight or aftermath. She was a rival, a meal at the time. How was he to know she was interesting? He lifted the glasses with his purple psychic energy and moved them over to her as a peace offering.
She hesitated before slowly taking them and he watched her at least pause to put them on as she looked at him again rather than immediately bolting. He kept the sad look on his face lowering his head as if ducking in apology or embarrassment as she watched him uncertainly.
She didn't move for a moment watching him as he moved to look at the water as if he was unable to bear looking at her, internally impressed with his acting skills. He heard her quietly shifting but it didn't sound like she was standing, she adjusted from her terrified position into a slightly more comfortable sit making sure it was a position she could easily move from. She watched him blinking a bit in confusion as she observed him.
Darkness had said he was much more civilized when she spoke with him, flirty even but not looking for a fight and not aggressive. She'd assumed he only acted that way because Darkness had a crystal too, but he was acting kind of normal now.
"Uhm," May uncertainly coughed into her hand to clear her throat, "I'm, gonna, go…" She moved to awkwardly stand saying, "enjoy the, water?" then cringing to herself as she turned to return to camp awkwardly. He turned his head to look at her watching her go, part of him having wanted her to stay to be fascinated by his good behavior to want to know all she could and he was a bit annoyed she didn't seem to care. He did also know it was to some degree a win, had she attacked him it meant she still saw him as a threat so clearly she must be somewhat intrigued by him.
"May?" She froze a bit at him knowing her name it felt so strange coming from his mouth uncertainly turning her head to look at him, "I am genuinely sorry for what I did, I'm trying to do better with this," he touched his shoulder around the crystal feigning pain and sorrow, "so I hope I can make it up to you and your brother someday." He gave her a smile that seemed genuine and she almost found herself fully believing him. With a shy smile she nodded unsure how to answer that at all and walked away to camp.
When her back turned Syns smile fell into a disappointed scowl, he put his head in his hand and he wrinkled his nose in frustration knowing no more than he did for trying this. He only hoped that he'd planted the seeds and he'd be able to reap the harvest later, if she did believe him then he could start to worm his way in. If her and Citrus were sisters and had a rocky past he's sure he could work it out with her too.
May walked back to camp feeling confused and anxious, her heart was still thumping despite nothing having happened but she knows it could've. And yet he seemed quite sad… She couldn't deny she did in fact feel a bit bad just abandoning him there on his own lonesome but what could she even say to him? And how could she justify just sitting being friendly with the Pokemon who tried to murder her brother? She sighed a bit to herself and stopped, she should've maybe at least asked his name. Should she go back? Would it be weird to? If he was sorry and did want to fix it wouldn't it be polite to be able to address him by name? Mutually extend the opportunity of healing? If he's just 'that Mewtwo who tried to kill Matt' in her mind isn't that a bit cruel?
She groaned to herself debating and awkwardly walking back, he was still sat by the water and he seemed to be lost in his own thoughts, after some more mental debating she cleared her throat making him quickly look towards her, seeming a bit startled which in turn startled her.
"I, uh, sorry, I… never got your name?" She felt awkward just saying it she should've just kept walking. He looked at her and she could only imagine how much he was judging her, meanwhile Syn had to hide the want to break into a victorious smirk, she wanted to know his name and there's no way she'd want to know that if she wasn't thinking about him.
"Syn, you can call me Syn." He smiled at her giving another dashing smile and it weirdly didn't fill her with dread this time, she smiled a bit nodding at him in understanding.
"Syn..well, um nice to officially meet you, you already know my name but uh I'm May." She felt awkward as he looked at her smiling, but it felt a bit weird not introducing herself back. She thought about what to say next until she heard Matt yelling in the distance.
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU WHERE'S MAY?!"
She flinched a bit at the volume with an oof, "I gotta go do uh damage control, bye!" She moved to run back to camp, stopping to lean back into view, "Syn." giving a wave before sprinting back to explain everything.
Syns' tail swayed up and down, content with the turn of events. He grinned satisfied to himself as he stood up thinking that May was indeed very interested in him. He'd be back later though it seemed like the pair was becoming a trio and the change in chemistry may cause difficulties. But, he counted this as a win overall. Maybe Citrus had put in a good word for him.
#My writing#@seasidemew oc#@seasidemew syn#I don't think this needs any tags for once holy moly#But like if you feel it needs any let me know obviously#Darkness choose a name challenge 2023 XD#She's experimenting lmao I'll let her be actually but I think I'm funny that when he's thinking of her he calls her Citrus#Also sibling moments she loves her sis a lot#And Darkness just there like secretly terrified of Syn#Also lmao Syn is so grumpy in my writing. Mad Citrus doesn't do their usual talks mad at sun mad May isn't infatuated with him#Life is SO unfair for Syn XD#He's just here like um excuse me I'm being a sad little meow meow here you're meant to forgive me and be interested in me now#Like what do you MEAN you're still negatively affected by that fight we had that was like 4 months ago why aren't u over it XD#Syn wants her to be interested in him so bad XD like hello??? I'm interesting?? Be interested!!#But also what a manipulative lying lil fucker just oh :( oh Yea I feel awful :(#May: *asks for Syns name because she wants to extend an olive branch believing his acting*#Syn: god I just can't keep the woman off of me#This is also important like building blocks for the next fic lmao because now the idea of Syn actually being a good boy has been planted m#And since she was just earlier talking about how darkness has redeemed herself she'll be thinking huh maybe he can be redeemed too#Spoilers he cannot probably who knows but he lie and fib and May unfortunately sees the best in people#Tw blood mention#Dangit XD

I really wish I was one of those people who knew how to make like perfume oils and stuff because I spend a lot of time thinking about what a collection of perfumes themed after each Skeksis and Urru would smell like
