Welcome to the HOT AND VINTAGE MOVIE STARS tournament! We are now finished with the Hot & Vintage Men Tournament; The Hot & Vintage Movie Women Tournament is ongoing. Submissions for hot vintage women are now closed, but we are accepting propaganda for those already in the bracket.

Round 1 of the Hot & Vintage Women Tournament began with 540 hot women in prelims. Round 1 starts Saturday, March 2nd, with posts going up over several days. “Where is [my favorite hot woman]?” It depends. Are all the Round 1 polls up yet? Have you checked all the polls in the tag? Have you done a tag search for her? If you still haven’t found her, either nobody submitted her or she did not fit the criteria of being a movie woman from 1910-1970.

“Can I still submit hot women?” No, the submission window has closed. Please do not send in women you wish had made it into the bracket. I can’t do anything with those asks and they just make me sad.

“I have additional propaganda for the hot women!” Great! Send me an ask or reblog the poll and add your propaganda to it. If you see a separate post that relates to your hot woman, like a fancam or a gifset, you can tag me in it. I don’t boost all the propaganda I see or receive, but I try to boost the best of the best.

If you’re submitting propaganda for your hot lady, I don’t accept propaganda that’s from beyond the end of this tournament’s era (ie don’t send me pics of them from before 1910 or after 1970). I also don’t accept propaganda of TV appearances unless it’s clearly a cameo where they’re playing themselves. If you have a TON of photos to submit, please send a few asks instead of one long one. I watch every video I receive so I can add trigger warnings, so please don't send long videos—I don't have time to review them.

I don’t post or boost negative propaganda about any hot woman. If you really hate that a certain hot woman is winning, send me positive propaganda for their hot opponent. Roleplay Rules:

The "Canon Claims" channel is for those who would like to be the server's "Main" version of any Baldur's Gate 3 canon character (Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale, etc). The channel works on a first-come first-serve basis.

Duplicates are allowed, but not considered "canon" to server-wide events and can only be played in "Non-Canon threads". (See further down)

All RP channels are required to use appropriate tags for threads. These tags include Public, Private, NSFW, Canon, and AU/Non-Canon.

In order to request a thread be marked "Canon", you must request the tag from admins. This is to avoid accidentally mismarking a thread or mismarking a thread in bad faith.

Q: Are Duplicates allowed? A: Yes and no. For "Canon Threads", there is only 1 version of each canon muse allowed server-wide. However, there is no limit on duplicates in "AU/Non-Canon" threads.

Q: How many characters am I allowed to play? A: Currently, we want to limit Origin and Companion Canon muses to one per person. There is no limit on Tavs/OCs, characters from other franchises translated into BG3 (from anime series, live action shows, video games, etc), or non-Companion canon characters (such as Cazador, Raphael, Scratch, Thorm, Orin, Gortash, Orpheus, etc).

Q: Am I required to play a character infected with an Illithid/Mind Flayer parasite? A: No. In fact, we encourage that some not be.

last i’m posting about this xoxo sorry about the watcher spam recently but i feel the need to put my 2 cents in since my opinion on this doesn’t align with the vocal majority on this site

gotta admit my first youtuber drama experience was a 0/10 not because of what the creators did but solely because of the insanity of the fandom. because…wow. i have never seen a group of people throw around demands and accusations of betrayal in such a dramatic way lol. maybe i’m in the minority here but i felt the majority of responses and criticism just were any lacking basis at all.

my first thoughts with the announcement were literally “oh good for them new streaming service, i won’t be going for it, but maybe after a few months i’ll consider paying for a 1-time sub to catch up on everything”. sure some disappointment i wouldn’t get regular updates but overall excited for the new content this pay structure would give them the flexibility to create.

maybe because i didn’t get into youtubers until the pandemic when watcher was already it’s own independent thing i don’t have that same (*cough cough* parasocial) level of connection, just really enjoy the videos they put out. maybe because i go through subscription-of-the-month stints of paying for a patreon or twitch or other creator channel and rotate what i watch, this didn’t feel outrageous to me. i hate the subscription world we live in so i go out of my way to never pay more than a strict budget limit per month because that’s my ability and that’s my mentality on this. i thought at best maybe i’d consider rotating this in when they put out more.

don’t like the idea of it? you don’t have to pay for it. can’t afford it? i understand the disappointment from this aspect but creators don’t actually owe you anything for free - even if it was free in the past. overall and for whatever reasoning you have: it wasn’t that deep.

if anything i am in a way thankful that they rescinded on their decision because that means me & others will continue to enjoy videos for free. but overall i’m disappointed that this means they’re sacrificing their own creative wants and financial needs of whatever they had planned. we won’t actually know the extent of what, if anything, this prevents them from creating because y’all wouldn’t even let them attempt to try this next phase out.

fans saying “well we don’t want high-budget content” well maybe they want to explore more than what they’re currently able to do? maybe they want to create more beyond their buzzfeed-format videos they know will rack in views from the nostalgia-obsessed side of the fans? i, too, personally love their humor and would just enjoy them chatting and being silly, but i do also think this holds them back. remember those hilarious self-made commercials from their most recent videos? that's probably just a glimpse of what new flavors of content they’re able to think up.

this whole fan response was just disappointing (and pretty scary ngl) to me, and i know saying that is like kicking a hornets nest but i really think if they continued with the plans from their original announcement it would have been ok. i actually think it would have been more than ok! but the response imploded so hard i’m sure we’ll never see them try something new again lol.

my personal thoughts are that if your opinion in any way revolved around something they “owe” to fans, feelings of “betrayal”, thinking they’re “sell outs” for wanting to transition to paid content - i think you really need to take a step back and reflect, and i mean that with zero malice. watcher is a business, not your friends, not “the boys”, not your guaranteed source of a specific type of content either. ultimately they made a business decision that they thought would help them grow that would have either succeeded or failed, that's it. for better or worse, we wont get to watch that play out.

i will continue my quiet enjoyment of their videos, and happily move on past what i frankly think was the most unnecessary internet drama i’ve seen in a minute lol. the takes overall were dumb but tame, i only blocked a handful of accounts for posting things i thought were totally out of line that i won't get into but i'm sure you've either seen or heard people discussing.

i didn't even get in to my hot takes lol like how this plays into the dangerous trend of the expectation of art to be free....and the overall devaluing of creatives and why AI is thriving in these areas...but ill defend that thesis another day lol. y'all aren't ready for that.

Should I get armored core

I'm right at the end of chapter 1 (haven't had much time to play), so of course I may miss some things here, but here's my review. Spoiler free

It's a good, clean game. Well worth the price and far more tight and put together than most other AAA games on the market (the fact that this is a standard is a bit sad, but oh well). It's fun, and I think most people will enjoy it.

Here's whats great about it:

Movement. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, absolute butter. You truly soar in this game, both figuratively and literally, and even the tankiest of builds have a distinctive glide to them that gives the game both a unique character, and in general, a high quality. I'd love to see similar movement styles adapted to other games and other genres.

Build customization and variety. The thing everyone talks about in this game, and it deserves to be praised. Building your mech and piecing together how you're going to address a specific level or problem in your own particular way is a really fun puzzle, and the builds don't just affect numbers on a screen- they very meaningfully affect how your mech moves, which enemies they're most effective against, and what other pieces you need to pair it with. It strikes a nice balance of tailoring a build to specific levels, as well as finding signature styles that work for you.

Ignore people who say the game is ugly. It has a strong gunmetal and wasteland aesthetic, but it fits the tone of the game incredibly. It's not vibrant, but that's a deliberate, artistic choice, and it manages to have art variety even within that aesthetic. The desert mission in chapter one exhibits this beautifully.

The soundtrack fucks HARD. Probably my top Fromsoft soundtrack, and probably one of my favorite video game OSTs of all time.

That being said, I criticize things I love more than things I hate, because I understand them enough to do so. So here's my take: it's def not up to par with Fromsoft's usual lineup or output. Of the modern (post-DS1, I've never played Demon's souls) From games, its probably the weakest. There's a couple of glaring issues with the game, unfortunately:

The complexity of the missions does not match the complexity of the player's build and inputs in the slightest. This is why there's been a lot of complaints about the game simultaneously being too easy and too hard. Either the enemies are simple and don't do enough damage to kill you, or they are simple and do enough damage to kill you. Even with dodging via intricate movements, there are some parts that are flat out bullshit and some parts that are a breeze. Because of this, it often feels like I'm injecting my own fun into the game by being flashy in my own right, but the game should reward that on its own. It's interesting to note that this feels like an inversion on how Fromsoft games typically work. Most From games have pretty simple input mechanics that you're forced to push to their absolute limits with environments and bosses that are extremely complex. This is true of all mainline Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and hell, even Sekiro and Bloodborne.

The storytelling.. this ain't it, chief. I guess it's to be expected, since Miyazaki isn't the director of this one. A plot element just got dropped in right at the end of the mission I'm on now that seems like it'll make things more elaborate later on, but no matter how complex the plot itself becomes, the classic Fromsoft storytelling style isn't there. You're back to this being a game where the plot is laid out for you with monologues, direct explanation, and cutscenes. The environmental storytelling is almost absent. As much as "item description storytelling" is memed on, but combat log collection is a slap in the face substitute for that.

Building on the "environmental storytelling is absent" point, the environments themselves have no complexity and don't reward even the barest minimum of exploration. There's like... one collectathon item per level, and that's it. No hidden pockets of the maps, no character moments, no scenes in a corner that show interesting bits of lore or story, no interesting details about the world to find. This is pretty bad for me tbh. Like yes, I understand its supposed to be a linear experience, but this isn't about linearity vs open world- its about how much you're doing with the linearity. Even compared to all of the Dark Souls games, which are all linear or branching linear, there's a distinct lack of care and detail in the levels that could really be there.

It's a fun, tightly made, well put together game that is fun, flashy, and has the most fun movement of any game I've played probably ever, but there's a lot of wasted potential. I would love to see similar brands of sci fi games, or hell, even fantasy magic shooters that build on these same types of controls and level of customization. If that sounds fun to you, go for it.

hmm... i'm not sure if it's as prevalent now as it used to be, but there was a super pale/white/pastel trend going there for a while and it would whitewash poc terribly. it was awful.

i also hate the elitism from a lot of gif makers, too. it's so unnecessary.

10. 10 sets, 8 sets, 6 sets? How many gifs to you prefer in a set?

as many as i need to get the point across! there used to be a limit of 10 images per post, and while i hated the change at first, i'm super grateful that i can fit more if i need it. and anyone who complains that gifsets are too long now, get over it because you're getting free blorbo content to look at lol

40. Why do you make gifs?

i sort of answered this, but it's a little different, i think. i explained why i started, but not why i keep doing it. i actually stopped from like 2019-2022 but pedro brought me back to it. i changed over to taking virtual photography shots in video games to get that creative itch, but that fucker's baby cow eyes drew me in lol

but i keep at it now because i love the creativity it gives me, and the community i've found myself in!

i'm honestly proud of everything i wrote this year so this is fucking impossible!!! i guess if i HAD to pick from jatp, i'd pick coping because it was SUCH a massive project and i'm really, really fucking happy that i a. finished it and b. it was everything i wanted it to be. as for stranger things, if i had to limit myself to picking from my completed works then i'd go with both alike in dignity because idk it felt a little out of the box already even tho it was only my third hellcheer fic!

3. Work you are least proud of (and why):

i really hate this question because as i said before I'M PROUD OF EVERYTHING but if i had to go with a "least best" then i guess braiding my boyfriend's hair (boyfriend reveal!) because i definitely struggled with writing this and i think that's why i haven't returned to this verse since. i do want to go back to it bc i do have more ideas, but writing the filming of youtube videos is fucking impossible good lord.

I don’t know Yvette Carnell like that; I only know of her looking for a gold sticker for whatever she’s doing/done and being a leader of an organization. I’m not in search of a leader. I’m firm on lineage-based federal and state reparations for Black Americans (preferably federal before states), an Anti-Black Hate Crime bill and data disaggregation. Lineage-based because our ancestors built the United States through forced chattel labor that others immigrated to, and you can’t do anything to benefit one race (so they say 🙃) because it violates the 14th amendment.

Data disaggregation makes things clearer in wealth disparity amongst other things, but also for anyone having that strange identity crisis as to who they truly are simply because they were born in the United States. This is why lineage matters. I can’t be me while they’re being me and them simultaneously. Hence the student union example. Disaggregation should’ve been done, but wasn’t as another layered undermining tactic. Heavy state and federal penalties needs to be attached with falsifying to simply garner whatever benefits and resources. You also won’t have shit like the likes of Rachel Dolezal and Mindy Kaling’s brother sliding through.

Racially Black people are different ethnic groups with distinct histories, cultures and the ancestral lands where our ancestors were ultimately rooted. We’ll prob disagree on that. You’re a Pan-African and I am not. 

Reparations is not for racism. It’s a debt owed. But I also want genocide and theft in there which links to Jim Crow and it’s governmental sanctions, the bombing and torch of our businesses and towns that were kept desolate or turned into lakes, 15 million acres of land—including farmland and heirs property—stolen down to 1 million acres left, etc. People be out here passing around videos of Black Americans being exterminated by the slave patrol police like white people used to do with those postcards of lynching barbecues. It’s genocide. (It’s not lost on me it happens to other racially Black people who look like us.) 

Black Americans make up 50% of the homeless in our country, including our vets and those on Skid Row. Our median wealth is projected to be 0 by 2053. We have to advocate for us. Ain’t nobody coming to save us. People are just onlooking. Ain’t no UN coming despite us checking off every box per their definition of genocide:

Killing members of the group; 

Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; 

Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; 

Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [black maternal mortality]

Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group. [that child trafficking CPS that remove a child for any reason they choose and ASFA]

So, you don’t support a particular form of reparations, but you’ve been involved in reparations work for 2 years? What does that even mean?

CARICOM has their own reparations plan going to get what’s owed from that damn Queen and other countries that played a part in the enslavement and labor of their ancestors. The African Union has their own thing going for the Scramble for Africa. Black Americans will not survive without reparations and the country won’t survive without us. The government knows it. It’s spite. People know. So what do you support specifically as redress for Black Americans?

SN: What I mean by “racially” Black - We know race doesn’t exist, but is a caste here which people who immigrate or are born here via immigrants are funneled into by choice or not. Opposed to “Black” as an ethnicity, which some Black Americans still use like an ethnic group.  

And about that celebrate part you mentioned in your other comment. I’m doing it for the ancestors. Ancestors like Callie Guy House and Isaiah Dickerson been leading the way, like when they started The National Ex-Slave Mutual Relief Bounty and Pension Association in 1894. People like them were waking up other ancestors to be firm in knowing they were owed. A lot of Black Americans today have awakened while others are continuing to wake up. So I celebrate for the ancestors even if it’s small strides leading to bigger ones.

day four : we hit the beach but that ended early cause something touch my foot and i was like oh hell nah, we got to get out of there. we went to the pool and that was fine, we laid on the chairs, drinking drinks, my mom had bob marleys & mojitos while i drank slushies and i did drink some of hers. we did bingo again and it was fun. we went to a silent headphones listening party on the beach and that was so cool. we also had a dj chillout and it got cut off early because a fight broke out which was so crazy cause the people involved were having fun and they were friends in the beginning until many drinks later something happened and the girl punched the birthday boy girlfriend and he look like he was to fight back but they hold him and the girl that threw the first punch back. i didn’t get to see the aftermath cause my mom called it a night and headed back to our room.

day five : beach again ( listen we stayed a lot in our bathing suits for the majority of our trip ), i didn’t fully go in cause the water was crazy but i played in the sand and buried my foot. we then went in the pool and the plan to stay at the silver bar but against my will, the picture man dragged me all way in the pool to where it ends and i was scared outta my mind cause again i can’t swim. after the pool, we went to the market to get some stuff, drank a coconut and ate the jelly. i got my favorite cane to bring back. we also got some ice cream, patties, and pepper shrimp on our way back to the hotel. we then attended an all white beach party (i would upload a video of it but tumblr only allows 1 video per post for some fucking reason) and i loved it so much, my foot was tired tho between all the dancing i was doing and trying not to fall in the sand, it was a struggle. when we reached back to the room, we had to pack. i was ready to head back to new york.

day six : we had to get up mad early to check out and hurry to eat breakfast because we didn’t want to miss the bus that was taking us to the airport. i hate having to take off my shoes when going through tsa. i wasn’t liking the fact the plane had to cool down but also wasn’t liking the fact that someone took a shit in the bathroom and because we were near the back every time someone opened it, a whiff comes my way. i hated the back also because of the limited space it had, no leg room. i was so happy to be back in new york, i had an amazing time in jamaica !!

March 24, 2022: Tyre Sampson, only 14 and on Spring Break with his Football Team went to ICON Park in Orlando, Florida.

They took their seats on the Orlando Free Fall Ride and when it Reach the Top, about 100 Feet Up Tyre Slipped Out of His Seat and Fell to His Death.

March 25, 2022: The Free Fall Ride was Ordered to be Closed and a Fence was put around the ride. The ride’s dismantling is expected to take several days.

The Free Fall Ride, manufactured by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides GMBH, an Austrian Company In the Ride Manual Listed a Maximum Weight Limit of about 285 pounds.

The Initial Report by Quest Engineering and Failure Analysis Inc. hired by the Florida Department of Agriculture...

Found there were No Mechanical Failures. Evidence Found Manual Adjustments on 2 Seats Had Been Made... Screws had been tightened and then loosened, and sensors had been moved on his seat. The report also stated there may have been other “potential contributions” to the accident.

Tyre, about 100 Pounds Over The Maximum Weight Limit was put in 1 of those 2 seats, Seats that Were Not Able to Support 383 Pounds, so Tyre Could Not Be Properly Secured.

Photos and video posted online apparently show Tyre was not fully buckled in, with the safety harness sitting far above those of the other riders.

NBC News obtained video of someone heard asking...

Video games are worthless

Video games are nothing more than a distraction with false achievements and different pain ever losing a video game over and over again and go crazy or something that only exist on a screen and let me put pixels and is not real

Ever see how people get upset with video games and just to achieve nothing they're obsessed over a fantasy video games in a way are kind of like normalized schizophrenia

It is a disconnect from reality and that ultimately to a degree is kind of okay you can stretch that but to complete disconnect it's madness

Video game serve as a way to torture us while we accept the pain being beaten in a video game puts false shame on the people that make them think that they are inferior

When in reality video games are extremely limited in what is quote on quote "Real" !

I don't believe video games cause real world violence because of the guns look at thinking of all the movies of which shooting people shooting in them and blood and gore video games are not nearly as realistic as movies are I've seen good graphics and trust me I seem Mortal Kombat 11

Video games are stupid they're supposed to be a way to make you happy they're either painfully too hard or extremely boring

An example is for two heart is the soul series like Dark Souls 1 2 and 3 or Demon Souls !

Or the crash bandicoot series

Oh they're ridiculously easy like a Kirby game

And all the ones in between are just stupid silly boring uninteresting and I'm sorry to use harsh words but everything retarded

I also intensely hate Mortal Kombat ( And, God of War, it's Sacrilegious ) I just Can't understand why that level of violence should be celebrated I don't understand well why beating the living Shit out of someone else better than they can beat you makes you a better person

one of the games that I liked that was somewhat hard but I liked it cuz they try to be a good story with a game called Banjo-Kazooie

Another game I like that was skill based was the game called phantom dust this game is now Dead online !

One of the other games I love intensely was the video game called Mega Man legends ! 1 & 2 !!!

I know the game I like but was very hard a time with the video game called Pixmin !

I played that intensely day in and day out I was up all night playing that when was out and I kept missing school and kept losing sleep and I was up all night trying to get kills and trying to show how good I am and I kept figuring out wondering why is that all my skill and progress didn't give me anything in the real world ?

If you win the game you get nothing if you lose the game you get nothing it doesn't make any sense it just seems like the obsession of video game is an insanity ?b

It's like everybody's playing virtual pretend and no one gets anything you're all playing for pretend, it's all pretend !

And so I thought I'd let you know that I really think video games are dumb now I think they're used as a psychological weapon against people so they can hurt themselves like obsessing over the video game Dark Souls and then hurting yourself or elder ring !

All this hard work for something that doesn't matter you got you train your brain really good to get good at Mortal Kombat I don't care which one !

And how is that transition into real life you cannot press a button and kick someone's ass with that

Your gamer skill did nothing more than really poison your brain

Because the skillet pressing buttons got you nowhere in life and you don't even know how to fight a real person I don't even like the idea of doing that I like the idea of trying to figure out how to diffuse the situation and turn an enemy into a friend but that's not possible with absolutely everyone

You got a pack of angry wolves at you they're just hungry most evil comes that comes from animals comes out of desperation of hunger

Hi i want to ask you about Paul jealousy towards John. Do u think his jealousy are same as John? Thats what i see from Get Back, Paul always get away from this. People always focus on John jealousy and mental psychology while Paul often being ignored or under explore. I just want hear something from you because your blog quite fascinating about Paul, makes him more human i think.

Yes, Paul is also a jealous guy, especially towards John. The legendary partnership of Lennon-McCartney is not only created by cooperation, but the mutual competitiveness that neither of them wanted to be behind each other in any way. It's just that Paul is the only one alive who can always say his songwriting partner was jealous of him whereas John, unfortunately, was busy being dead.

The rivalry is always there, I think, it didn't explode until the final time of the Beatles- when John brought Yoko into the studio. That's really pushed Paul's jealousy to a new level, he actually spends rest of his life competing with JohnandYoko, either about itself or its enormous impact.

The intimacy between John and Yoko bothered Paul most at the beginning when he just got dumped by his fiancee not long ago. It can be seen that he is jealous of John for diving into a romantic relationship so much as well as Yoko taking his creative partner away. He always considers himself as the only one who was desperate to keep the band together but he actually made the situation worse by bring several girlfriends into the studio to get his own back. He couldn't help doing it even if he knew how absurd this competition was. As George said, "That really helped put the nail in the coffin."

We all know what happened next: The Beatles was disintegrating while John and Yoko was at the height of their popularity as the high-profile anti-war couple who acted like messengers of peace with the famous slogan "Make love, no war." A succession of eye-catching peace activities during the Vietnam War made JohnandYoko a cultural iron and made John well known as an intellectual, a political figure, a true artist. I don't like any of their peace events and works (including the song Imagine), nor the saint John people worship who has been reduced to a couple of labels. But it can't change the fact that they are the main reasons that made John much more famous than other Beatles. It's an old chestnut that Paul has always been arguing he isn't viewed as an intellectual like John. In a certain way it is really an intense relationship that both of them can make the other one extremely jealous if any inequality exists. In Paul's case, as a person so insecure and so afraid of losing face, his jealousy also fueled by the public. The competition continues after John's death because he isn't on Lennon's bandwagon of being one of the greatest men in the world. It sounds snobbish but it's hard not to believe this is true.

I was just having a PM chat with another simmer about Sims 3 game performance, and I thought maybe it would be worth posting this stuff publicly. There are other game performance guides around the Internet, but this is mine.

Sims 3 is an old game. It’s enormously ambitious, and I wish they’d built a better data management engine in the beginning when they knew they were going to try to simulate basic behavior for an entire town over generations. When it runs like crap, it’s natural to assume that the problem is the computer, but the truth is that in 2021, the major reason that the game gets laggy is the GAME. It’s almost never the computer.

Sims 3 is a 32-bit game. That means that it has huge limitations on how much memory it can access. If you have the long-address patch (which if you have your game patched up to 1.67+ you will have), then the total memory the game can use is 4G. Before long addressing, the max usable memory was 2G, and the game stopped being able to function in that amount after about the 4th expansion I think.

It doesn’t matter if you have a 64-bit operating system, which you probably do. Sims 3 has to run in 32-bit backward compatibility.

There’s a lot of advice on how to improve performance. Some of it worked in the past but doesn’t now. Some of it never worked. Here are the things I know of that actually do make Sims 3 run better: 1. NRaas mods ErrorTrap and Overwatch: Even if you hate mods, you want these. They don’t change the behavior of the game. They fix bugs that bloat the game and corrupt save files. I honestly don’t know how anyone plays generational games without these. I’ve spoken to a lot of players over the years who don’t mod because they consider it dangerous to their game. I can see that reasoning, but not for these two mods.

2. An FPS (frames-per-second) limiter. This gets really technical, but the jist of it is that Sims 3 was written at a time when computers didn’t have nearly the graphics resources they have today. Because of this, it’s written to use ALL the resources it can get to generate the maximum number of visual frames it can. On a modern computer it’s likely to generate hundreds of frames per second when you only need 30 fps, and no matter how studly a computer you give it, it’s likely to chew up those extra resources generating more frames you’ll never see. When I added FPS limiting, suddenly the fan on my computer went quiet. It was stunning. I don’t see this issue discussed nearly as much as other ones, probably because of the confusing technical reasons, but it might be the biggest thing you can do for your game performance.

For certain graphics cards, you can limit the frames generated in the graphics config. I used Bandicam for years. You need to run it before you launch Sims and set FPS to 30 on the video tab. HOWEVER, I stopped using Bandicam when Smooth Patch (below) came out. You want maximum FPS of 30. That’s the maximum number that’s useful to the eye except arguably for first person shooters and virtual reality. [Note: Other simmers are telling me that they think somewhat higher frame rates can be a big visual improvement for their games. I think I’ll try 60 for a while myself and see. A lot of games target 30, so it’s worth trying out some limits to see what you think. When you’re talking about modern hardware, 60fps is almost the same for performance as 30. Whatever the case, don’t set it higher than the refresh rate on your monitor. Anything over that literally can’t be displayed.]

3. Smooth Patch by LazyDuchess. This is some kind of runtime injection magic that updates the way some threading is done in the game. the biggest thing it affects is loading the catalogues in CAS and build/buy, but it can make games load faster tool. As an afterthought, the config file includes frame rate limiting, so you can just forget about #2 above and set FPSlimit=30 after installing Smooth Patch.

4. CC Magic. This is a cc organizer, which is very nice to have in its own right. The big performance deal is that it merges your cc into big packages for you. Merged packages are better for performance but a living hell to do manually.

So that’s it! I’ve done a lot of fiddlier stuff, but I think these things are the most bang for your buck.
