I just realized that there is literally zero fanfics with Danny Fenton/M'gann M'orzz pairing and idk, am I the only one who see nearly endless potential in it?

I don't know how they met but they're probably pretty fast friends.

With Danny being space nerd, he would ask M'gann all the questions about Mars. At the same time, from what little I know about Miss Martian, she is "Earth nerd" and would ask him all the questions about Earth and what normal teenage life is like, because YL team is not the best study case. Like, only Wally and maybe Artemis (I don't know a thing about her other than 'snarky/blunt archer') had normal human life. He is happy to answer, introducing her to his semi normal life before accident.

They exchanged stories about stars from their respective homes.

Just imagine, Danny binge watching "Hello Megan" just to know what she is talking about and it's not his thing, really, but he learnt to enjoy it because he associated it with M'gann (we can have Jazz being fan too and feeling 'betrayed' because she tried to strongarm her brother to watch it for years and all it took was to cute alien girl to mention it and he is pulling all nighters).

Just imagine, M'gann asking one of her teammates (probably Robin) to teach her to play Doomed, so she can play with her halfa friend and his friends and not ask about every controller. They don't really mind her being newbie but sudden progress doesn't go unnoticed or unpraised.

Everlasting trio inviting her to Nasty Burger every once in a while to talk about random, not hero related things.

Rest of the YJ may not even know about Phantom. They just know about this Danny, M'gann's totally civilian friend, who likes milkshakes and video games.

They share their stories and tips about heroing and powers they have similar. Mostly M'gann shares things she learnt from her uncle or in Mountain because let's be honest, self taught is rarely better than someone with proper mentoring. She for sure helps with ghosts if they attack during her visit, even if Danny tries to shield her from it. "I'm supposed to be your civilian friend, am I not?"

She definitely does what she can to help with his hero PR. She may or may not accidentally convinced rest of the Team she has celebrity crush on underappreciated ghost hero from the middle of the nowhere. They help her, spamming all negative news reports with praises for Phantom from both hero and civilian accounts. It caused some mess, Justice League had questions but Danny was happy so it doesn't matter.

If we go with ghost being super emphatic we can have Danny overwhelmed by everyone's feelings (honest hate his parents have towards his hero persona, confliction of towns people, concern of his friends, excitement of Casper students idk, EVERYTHING) and M'gann helps him overcome it. Later both of them being there for eachother when everything was just too much. Y'know just this mutual understanding that nobody else can really give them.

Maybe some communication troubles because M'gann prefers telepathy and Danny does not like it in a slightest (Freakshow flashbacks or something) but tries to accommodate. Or M'gann doesn't even try because idk, one of telepathy rules is "don't read thoughts of dying person unless they project it to you" and she feels it goes for dead (even if only halfway) too.

They're just vibing with eachother.

Then there is ghost attack outside Amity and Team is send to deal with it. M'gann is surprisingly competent at dealing with everything ghost does while evacuating civilians while someone magic competent is called. Suddenly she stops, gets her phone and makes a call:

"Hey Danny, do you have a moment?" whole team is too shocked to react, because in the love of whatever they believe in, why is Megan calling her civilian friend in the middle of the battle with unknown entity. "It's [insert whatever ghost you want] wrecking havoc. Can you come by at take them to the zone? I don't have thermos on me right now. Thank you."

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?

Que Danny flying top speed to wherever she is, fights a ghost and contains them. Que someone (maybe Wally) being like:

"When did you wanted to tell us that your civilian friend is a hero?"

M'gann honest to god forgot that Team thought Danny was a civilian.

"I worked quite hard to drag her into as little of my Phantom bullshit as I could. I am proud of being a civilian friend, thank you very much"

They all came in contact together after that.

Martian Manhunter tried to give Fenton a shovel talk but boy was too excited to meet his favourite hero and to focused on not making fool of himself to be actually scared or something. He deals with Skulker on a regular basis anyway, there are very few threats that could actually scare him.

Team members also tried to shovel talk him, just in case. They all failed for one reason or another

Or maybe Danny is already YJ member. Everything above can still happen just without ghost attack. Danny can have issues with Zeta Tubes though. That's a good stuff.

There can be a drama of "I'm your friend only because I'm alien/semi normal, am I not?"

Or we can go with space obsessed Danny going full Vlad on cute alien girl. Y'know, because "that's a halfa thing to do". M'gann is not into that. I'm not really excited about this take but that's a possibility too.

When you got home and started rummaging through your things, you realized that the clothes you had worn in the hospital were missing, your first thought was that someone had stolen them, with all your heart you wished that it had been some nurse who didn't like you and not a pervert, you would hate that too much, the only thing was vomiting.

You preferred to stop thinking about it, telling yourself to finish some of your earrings before going to sleep, out of nowhere for some reason you thought of Shalnark, of that nice and sweet boy you had seen a few days ago, you liked to think of seeing him again, after all, he looked like a good person incapable of doing anything bad.

It was impossible for it to cross your mind to associate the disappearance of your clothes and that boy with such an angelic expression and behavior, although... really, the least thoughtful idea was the closest to reality.

You lay in your bed and the night passed quickly, from one moment to the next you were on your way to your doctor's office again, when you arrived a smile formed on your face.

"Shalnark?" You asked with a sweet and kind voice.

Shalnark reacted somewhat nervously, he was so focused installing the camera in your office that he didn't notice when you entered.

“Doctor!” He turned to you with an innocent and bright smile as usual.

It was probably because of how clueless you were and the good opinion you had of him, any normal person would have perceived the great love and obsession present in those turquoise eyes that remained fixed on your person.

"Did you come here to get your stitches removed?" You asked leaving your things in your locker without looking at him

“Exactly, but now I'm going to pay for it” Shalnark replied while hiding the tools he had used to install the surveillance camera.

“No, no” You refused, turning to him “Don't worry about that”

Shalnark sighed at your kindness, resigning himself and melting, resisting the urge to squeeze you in his arms, cover you with kisses and other less decent things.

Finally, he sat on the stretcher waiting for your care, seeing something funny how you had another uniform and knowing why.

"Did you change uniforms?" He asked innocently.

You approached him, leaving the medicine cabinet next to him and you looked at him.

"No, I just... I lost my uniform" You said embarrassed starting to lift the suture knots with a pair of tweezers

"Oh! What a tragedy! Are they very expensive?”

“It's not because it's expensive...”

“So?”

You sighed cutting the suture and pulling gently.

"Well... I hope it's just lying somewhere and that's it... imagine some kind of pervert has it..." Your tone of concern was evident

"Oh... I hope it's not that" Shalnark tried to encourage you with false empathy while you covered the wound to keep it dry "How many perverts are there on the streets... they always do disgusting things..."

You soon felt how he held your hand when you finished, for you there was no nobler gesture than that, you looked at him with such affection and warmth, for you he was like an angel, someone sweet, a kind and respectful man.

Shalnark almost felt bad seeing your look, your lovely sparkling eyes, almost felt guilty for being the one who stole your clothes and had spent the last few days masturbating while he smelled it.

"Thank you very much, doctor" Shalnark said, getting off the stretcher.

“You're welcome, come here more often, it's nice to see you” You proposed with a slight blush on your face, turning around to put away the first-aid kit

"Of course, doctor!” Shalnark accepted instantly, it was impossible for him to hide his blush and his joy, so he was infinitely grateful that you had turned around

It was almost adorable, at first glance you could only see a boy in love, no one would suspect that behind that angelic appearance was hiding a member of the Gen'ei Ryodan, a thief and serial killer, the man who had you as his goal, who planned to catch you sooner or later and never let you escape.

Unfortunately, Shalnark could not last long by your side, he had to leave because the rest of your patients began to arrive, however, he had many reasons to be happy.

He was able to speak, see and touch his beautiful and perfect doctor, he still felt the sensation of your fingers on his arm, the memory of your hand under his and the tone of your voice was continually drilling into his mind.

And even better… he had finished installing the last camera he had pending.

Say what you will about silvio but

He is NOT old money. In the pet AU story where he lost his memory he still managed to build his own firm from nothing and boom the local economy. And after that he still insists to live with emma because despite being so so bad at expressing it, he knows to value the person who saved his life when she didn't even know who he was and stuck by him when he had nothing. Honestly, I prefer this timeline to his main story, cuz you already know what i think of the shit he pulled in his early chapters. They still yell at each other so much I'm like ????????? Tho

He is NO swindler. He doesn't break his deals because he respects the merchant's code. Yeah he bribes people but he gives them a TON of money so it's worth their trouble, heck it might even be enough money to turn their lives around. With his more honest businesses, he understands that money made from stealing your employees's salaries is a failed business. This is again something he tells emma in the pet story cuz she only let's him pay for the ingredients of the food she makes him and he's like "you gotta pay for SERVICE TOO you-" but we all know emma secretly does want to do something for him even tho she keeps complaining about him

Hearing him talk about how fucking hard sailing is but does it anyways..... Again. He's not old money. Silvio picked up probably THE HARDEST and definitely the most dangerous part of the merchant tradition of his country. I do see how his association with more common ways and sailor's tongue would make the king see him as unfit for succession because a king has to be a diplomat, a public speaker, a strategist etc. And yeah this whole image thing and winning people over is something emidio and rio are better at. But emidio's a f psycho and valerio didn't want anything to do with foreign affairs. I guess anyone with enough guts, spine, balls—you name it, to stand up to gilbert deserves a bit more respect than the dirt under my shoes.... Maybe something like a "don't step on the grass" area... "I don't go there. I don't get the hype but fine I'll respect the line" oh wait I'm turning this into a diss again-oops.

Hello! Can I ask you for some romantic headcanons for comics lackadaisy Wes Clyde.

Incredibly based of u to request lackadaisy PLUS a fairly new/minor(?) Character im very fond of. also uhh oops this ended up being some additional dating HCs as well?

No warnings, reader is intended to be femme.

So - it's easy to get Wes' attention. He likes a pretty face and he frequents places that are full of them - not just the Marigold speakeasy he works for, but other illicit bars and dance halls. It's a special thing for him to keep interested in a particular person, especially when his job has him out at all hours.

His more old-fashioned side comes out, first of all! He wants to be the protector. He wants to have his pretty thing on his arm while they walk down the boulevard, he wants to open doors for them and surprise them by sending flowers.

Yes, this is totally against the persona he has to wear for work. Being with someone allows him to be gentler and more vulnerable, something Wes didn't realize he needed. Going out on the town is fun, but he prefers places his fellow gangsters don't frequent so the dates are more private. When he's totally comfortable, he likes to hold your hand and kiss your knuckles. He likes bringing you close during dances and all but pulling you onto his lap during dinners. If he were around his 'associates', this sort of affection wouldn't be possible.

(That said, no matter how nice the date spot is, he always ends up looking like a gangster... his face doesn't help).

He's excellent at remembering things you like and notices when you admire something. You'll get a modest-looking package at work or home, and it's a charmimg bracelet or necklace you had your eye on. The flowers are ones you've mentioned liking, the date spots are places you mentioned wanting to go to, etc.

(If you compliment Wes on how attentive and romantic he is, he becomes unusually flustered. This is also why your flowers and gifts arrive by mail rather than in person; your happy face will just send him into a fluttery, painfully sentimental and sappy mood. Just thinking about your reaction makes him bury his face in his paws.)

((Though there's a total double standard where he loves flustering you, especially if you're tough to impress.))

The petnames will start to show up after dating for a few months. There's the classic "doll" and "sweetheart", though they sound a little different when he says it. Warmer and more affectionate than you've heard before, perhaps. He starts to use those in lieu of your name, with "kitten" is exclusively for flirting and messing around. For himself, he prefers his name, but isn't adverse to endearments.

If you were the type who was really into the gangster life ... wellll, maybe he'll drive you around the backroads in one of Marigold's souped up bootlegging cars and intimidate some assholes for you. He'll play the part for a while if it pleases you - but for the most part, his work and personal life is separate. No way is he introducing you to his gang members, nor would he want you hanging around the Maribel Hotel. Even if you frequented their establishment before, he'd want you to stay away once the relationship is more serious.

A few reasons for this. Wes likes his privacy, he doesn't trust his fellow gangsters worth a damn (just them looking at you for too long will lead to their nose getting bashed or their ears being boxed) and he wants you to be safe. He's been in the game long enough to know his feelings are a liability, and you can be used as leverage.

He's also not a domestic sort of cat. Being introduced to parents or taking homemade dinners at home is a bit too far and will lead to cold feet. That's something that would have to come very slowy, but he's also a realist. Wes has a dangerous job, one that most don't approve of. He doesn't want to bring danger on your doorstep, or worse - you having to choose between him and a more "normal" life and partner. Because as tough as he is, the thought of being left because he's a lowlife and dangerous hurts. He won't mention any of these concerns, but it's the thoughts that drift around when you try to be more serious and committed about the relationship. Wes' response is usually a gruff, "Ain't it fine the way it is, doll?"

🤥 LYING - are they good liars? do they have tells to show they're lying?

Izzy can lie, but doesn't want to! People mostly can't tell she's lying unless she lets them know, and she will snap and admit bullshit because of the pure discomfort. She just prefers to be direct! The one successful lie she committed to was pretending to join the League on their own terms, hiding that her true motivation was to study whatever weird "filth" Valtr was raving about and hopefully benefit from it!

☀️ SUN - are they a morning person? what is the first thing they do in the morning?

Izzy's mornings are normally long and idle, she takes her sweet time to "properly" wake up always chilling for some more time in bed, combing her hair, thinking about her dreams, then napping some more but in another spot.. After her waking up add 1-2 hours until she actually wake up for the day (unless there is emergency). When that happens, she washes her face with a cold water. She also stretches the same way cats do xD

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

Izzy is, in fact, scared OF irrational people! Not something most people expect from someone so beasthood-affiliated, but Izzy has plenty of logic and reason. Dangerous people that can yet provide her a coherent idea of their reasoning and motivation like Laurence (or Micolash before his 'fanatic' era) don't bother her beyond being ideological enemies. People like Logarius, Ludwig or the Choirlings, on the other hand, put a pit in her stomach...

She conquered her fears to the point of being reasonably careful to not get herself harmed and killed and will turn tail if being shot at or threatened by a much stronger enemy without a damage for her pride. What counts as 'worst nightmare' is being bewitched by a Great One to the point of losing freedom and self, similarly to how Ludwig, Micolash and many Choirlings got charmed by their guy (well, girl). Thankfully, she is associated with Fauna the Great One beast that is more cooperative and on the contrary honours autonomy; even speaking or fighting in sync with him feels for her like it makes her more, not less.

🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - what is the worse thing your oc could hear from someone?

You should NEVER let her be aware that she is not as different from Laurence as she thinks she is. At some point Izzy does become aware and both him and Laurence are very far gone, but do NOT tell her this before she is 'ready' :')

🎭 MASKS - do they act differently around certain people? what's different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

Izzy is rather insolent around his 'ideological enemies' and likes to troll them for a good measure when he isn't busy trying to make them THINK, very on-edge and aggressive around 'fanatic' type of enemies that scare her, both friendly and pulling the over-familiar rudeness with strangers. With friends she is very caring and understanding, even if she might be rude or abrasive without meaning to hurt them (simply very open, honest and emotional). She could not bring herself to hurt a friend even if they ditch her or straight up betray her, the worst she will do is to have a kicked puppy attitude... But her friendship is hard to earn.

He tends to give a thought to societal rejects and straight up "bad" people, not in Djura's 'we all might end up like this tho :(' kind way but in 'I believe what we hate is natural for humans' way.. This trait of his strongly accelerated ever since Healing Church started propaganda and amount of declared "heretics" increased. When Izzy crushes on someone she doesn't know what to 'do' about it and simply shows more affection to this person... She doesn't even bother with confession, let alone understanding how relationship and dating works! But when someone attracts her sexually, she will be open with her.. uhhh, compliments, let's call it that. 98% of his family memories and interactions are his father and Izzy really resents him.

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

Izzy was the second person that accepted Garlan (Suspicious Beggar) for who he really is, a rare person with Loran descent that was born with beastly traits lurking. First was his father, lurking as kind of a Loran Cleric but electric-leaning rather than fire. Izzy and Garlan liked having friendly fights with scratching and biting, like kittens xD Also, when Garlan devolved into a beast form, Izzy enjoyed scratching his belly :3

💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

He is a very pragmatic, often cynical man, taking calculated risks and only bothering investing emotions and time in "worthy" people. This can make people, even his friends, develop very negative impression of him and think he is an adaptable rat with no morals that just joins the winning side or the one useful for him. It would take time to internalise that he is more complex than this and does have a heart. People need quite a heart-to-heart, or to see him beat the shit out of someone that hurt his friend, to lessen the negative opinion unless they're basically mind-readers hahah. He also might be a bit snappy and rude when he is strongly focused on something, which is unbearable when you NEED to tell him something!

😨 FEARFUL - when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?

He tends to retreat to calm down his senses and figure an efficient way to eliminate the threat. 'Fight or flight' refers to state of anxiety transcending rational thinking and it is extremely hard to get him be like this! But if it happens, he will rather flight.

🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - whats a side of your oc that they don't want to show other people?

He doesn't like to show his emotional side, that he is not always so collected and pragmatic and still has weaknesses. It is one thing to need to communicate that he does have morals and heart despite using what opportunities he has, and will cheat his principles when someone genuinely needs to be punished. But it is another thing to admit that these seized, hidden emotions can be STRONG, and that he struggles all the time.

🌱 SEEDLING - what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

He witnessed a person getting struck by lightning. And not only he was fascinated, but also afterwards was a bit too eager to see the corpse with fascinating scars. He remembers both the event itself, and the reaction he received from others telling him what callous, cruel, crazy child he was. Plenty of children develop curiosity before they developed compassion and morals, and he was one of them. He still sometimes thinks back on how little he cared about that person dying before his eyes, especially since he knew him.. But at least, his interest in physics and specifically electricity got into him that day! He knew what he wanted to study since childhood, even if by such a "striking" event haha

👑 CROWN - what does your oc want to be remembered as? why?

He always wanted to be of help for humanity and simply be credited as progenitor of many follow-up inventions and inspiration for follow-up scientists! He knew his name would be in every book about physics... Well, due to circumstances, most of his inventions were weapons or otherwise helpful in military. He has some regrets, becoming the 'guy that invented more ways to kill' more than someone known for his inventions that would turn useful whenever Eldrich Nightmare ends. As a person, he wanted to be remembered as someone with the heart and morals despite how many deals with coincidence he HAD to make to proceed, and that can come true since he not only conducted research that was "heretical" amongst Healing Church hunters but died taking down a Vicar that was somehow even more evil than Laurence. Depends on what the descendants will think of the Healing Church!

Paarl didn't eat or otherwise kill the guy! Archibald gave Paarl his badge because he just gave it to all his friends, and even though he never knew Paarl before beasthood he counted him as a friend as well!

I'm truthfully on the newer side at this so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. While I've worked with spirits through a lot of my life, narrowing down the ones I most want to build relationships with has taken time.

I really resisted ancestor work for a long time but I think they're really at the core of what I do with spirit work these days. Even the ones I knew in life, we weren't close. I think I thought I had to get close to them in order to involve them more in my magic but that's just not really how my family seems to work. Most folks like to keep their distance.

I have a few deities I've been working with for ~15 years on and off. Those relationships are ones I'm struggling with at the moment in all honesty. Some of them don't have holidays associated with them and prefer devotional work I can't do at the moment so I'm still figuring out the best way to build those relationships up.

I tried working with Catholic saints last year. I did some novenas and devotional work but I haven't revisited them. I don't know that we clicked. Probably because my only relationship to Catholicism has been by proxy.

The other spirits I work with I don't want to say much about. They're quiet personal. And I don't know that I could say much that would make sense anyways. They're spirits that probably aren't human Dead that I've encountered both in and out of spirit feedings who've stuck around and shown they wish me well overall so I continue to work with them.

As for the actual actions. The most consistent spirit feedings I do are on major holidays. I'm working to increase that but that's where I'm at at the moment as someone who's chronically ill.

I always light a small candle and ideally have it in a "lamp" of some kind - a mason jar works in a pinch. The lamp as a symbol is important to my particular path and may or may not be to others. I now have some Hermanubis materia from Sphere + Sundry that I dress the candle with and it definitely does help the signal come in a little clearer but it's not necessary.

I also always like to include ideally incense but I'm in a very small space at the moment and that get cloying fast so I diffuse essential oils to offer them a pleasant smell.

I offer at least water but ideally I include a little bit of food I'm eating and any drinks I've made for the holiday.

I light the candle and invite my ancestors who wish me well to partake in it first, then my personal spirits, then any other spirits around who wish me no harm. I sit with them and talk for a while, jot down any impressions I'm getting. Then I pull cards.

I usually leave the water personally, but I stop the diffuser and take the food away after the candle's gone out. There's no good way for me to return it to the earth unfortunately.

Once a year, on Samhain, I make a full spirit table. For me, this means having flowers, a KJV bible open to Psalm 23, fully dressed candles, decorating it with some items I inherited from family members who passed, and a fair bit of food and drink. I also usually include a letter to my ancestors that I write around nightfall. Then I spend the whole evening hanging out with the spirits. I'll converse and reminsce and listen but then I usually play games and have nice music going too. I figure they deserve being invited to the party at least once a year.

When I need something and would like their help, I usually set it up like a normal feeding but include a note with my requests under the lamp and do a devotional activity if relevant.

So yeah that's how I'm going about it. Regular spirit feedings, experimenting, etc. I'd like to start celebrating birthdays and fasting on death days but getting that calendar together has proven a bit tough so I'm still working on it.

22. how would they decorate their living space, if they had a chance?

Julian is truly a case of The Autistic Urge To Be Organised fighting with the ADHD Urge To Accumulate *Stuff* - I've always imagined his chamber back at Silversage to have that kind of...Pleasantly Cluttered look about it.

Of course he's got quite a lot of books - he can never decide on the organisational system he wants to use for them, but does group shelves by subject matter (folklore/faerietales/fiction vs encyclopaedias/nonfiction vs academic/magical) and has a whole array of potted plants, it's hard to find a surface that doesn't have at least one. In terms of preferred colours for upholstery, Julian gravitates to rich mahogany browns, dark leather, cream, gold/yellow/bronze tones, and of course warm greens as an accent.

I'm sort of imagining gold-on-mauve for the wallpaper, though. Something like this?

The big bay window has hanging baskets in with trailing plants, and has those curtain-pulls with the fancy tassels. And a writing-desk is of course a must, ever an 'organised chaos' of loose parchments kept together with clips and whimsical paperweights in the shape of Very Round versions of magical beasts.

I imagine his dormitory at the Nugins Arcane Academy has similar aspects about it, but I'm not sure what novice quarters are like and whether they're shared spaces, so I'd need to chat to the DM about that because how it'd look would depend heavily on if it was shared or solo. (The potted plants are there, though. Where Julian goes, foliage follows.)

31. do they respond well to praise? how about criticism?

Julian is a golden retriever of a man, insofar as he is a people-pleaser who loves to hear he's done well. However, he tends to deflect praise a little, he gets bashful. Like, you can tell he's happy, because he's smiling ear to ear, but he's also insisting it was the least he could do, really and (if he was not alone in doing the thing he was praised for) redirecting the spotlight eagerly to someone else who truly does deserve to be commended, I mean, they did an absolutely splendid job.

As for criticism, this varies strongly by who delivers it and what it's about. By default he accepts criticism gracefully, usually apologetically - and then ruminates on it for far too long after the fact, analysing his error and chastising himself for his thoughtlessness. If he truly feels the criticism was unearned, he usually stammers out some attempt at correction, but his protests tend to be quite timid.

Criticism from someone Julian actively does not like brings out his snippy side, though! There's usually a pause, a sigh as he tries to contain his patience, then (in tones either Carefully Measured or in Exasperated Retort) something starting with an emphatic, "Listen-" or, "Well. I'll have you know that-".

The old party Fighter was frequently derisive of Julian's verbosity, inefficiency, lack of ambition, and general lack of the skills he personally associated with the word 'wizard' - say, the ability to cast Mage Hand. This ruffled Julian's feathers terribly and really got under his skin, and I don't think he's so far ever spoken to anyone else quite as sharply as he did when Himo suggested he was short-sighted for not having an interest in farming Maximilian.

“Well, before I could even do such a thing, Himo, firstly I would have to discern how to replicate him. And after that, divine what can be learned from him about magibotanical beings as a whole. You’re being so…” he sighs, exasperated, “just so simplistic.”

41. how do you keep notes for this character, if at all?

I don't have in-character notes specifically for Julian (which is shocking, I know) but I do record our sessions and also have a veritable fucking tome of a campaign chronicle that functions as Julian notes, I suppose! It just also happens to function as a complete narrative recap of everything that's happened. (I keep considering sharing it in instalments on here but it really is So Fucking Long that I doubt anyone would want to read it!)

Our DM got me - well, got Julian a gorgeous personalised leatherbound book for my birthday a few years back. I have often considered using it for jotting down IC notes-to-self, his observations of Maximilian's growth, etc, but I've had terrible New Book Paralysis about it. Here's what it looks like, though. :3

61. is there an in-game moment of theirs you think about and just laugh?

Oh, it's got to be the ridiculous Kolton's Dagger Accidental Innuendo Spiral, I think. Let me explain. It's a long one but it has me grinning whenever I remember it.

Okay, so, as we know, Julian is very easily embarrassed, and once thrown off-kilter in an interaction he struggles terribly to recover his footing.

(As a small example of this: Our Fighter insisted on calling the elven Mayor of Hare Ear Fjord "Cadence" instead of his name (Caidith). To Julian's mortification he then did the same, completely unintentionally. Then, panicking, fumbled his hasty correction into "Caileth" (which would be like someone calling him "Juliet"), and then, by now visibly pink in the face, finally arrived at Caidith's name. This happened twice. (The second time he was quicker to catch himself, so it was more of a "Caden- Cail- *gathers his breath* Caidith. So sorry. Terribly sorry.")

SO WITH THAT FOR CONTEXT.)

So, our newest party member, Kolton, had a dagger that seemed very familiar to the rest of us but none of us could put our finger on why. (Every single INT check was garbage, but it previously belonged to the aforementioned Fighter.) Heather went to ask Julian about it, to see if he had any insight, and when he didn't Julian pondered if Kolton might permit him to Identify it if he asked.

To this, Heather waggles her eyebrows and goes, "Y'gonna ask t' see Kolton's dagger, are you? Steady on, Julian! You've only known him a few hours!" and from here everything spiraled out of control.

So Julian, pink to the tips of his ears, bats her arm with the back of his hand, and to spare his embarrassment declares that on that note he's going to go and check on Maximilian, and Heather - who has seen her chance for mischief because it's way too easy - calls after him, "That what y'call it these days?" She then decides to summon Kolton on his behalf by hollering, at the top of her voice, "EY KOLTON, JULIAN WANTS T'SEE YER DAGGER ;)"

Naturally, this does not set Julian up well. Kolton, to his credit, graciously does not acknowledge any double entendre on Heather's part. A true gentleman. However Julian has been pre-flustered and has succumbed entirely to his chronic case of Foot In Mouth Disease. On receipt of the dagger, he chirps (far too chirpily) that he'll be 'in his corner' and will 'be back in ten minutes' - at this, Heather guffaws.

Ten minutes later he comes back none the wiser to the dagger's origins but educated on its enchantment - it's a Dagger of Returning! :D And perhaps Julian might have recovered at this point, but no. As he explains to Kolton, he decides to explain the attuning process thus:

"You'll have to spend a little time with it first - things like this require you to, ah, 'get to know' the weapon in question."

(And Heather, in her hammock across the way, audibly snorts. He colours.)

"I am so sorry, my phrasing is just atrocious today. That's the long and the short of it, anyway- HEATHER." (At this point she is fully shuddering with a full on fit of the giggles.) "It's a very nice dagger that you have here, that's all I'm trying to say!"

Now, technically that's the end of the Kolton's Dagger Spiral, but it immediately flows into the other Heather-Julian interaction that has me hooting whenever I relisten to it:

At this point Julian flees the conversation abruptly and tries to decompress/compose himself by noodling with his Sending spell. Tucked away in his corner of the crew quarters, Julian finally cracks the code on the last few theorems of it all, and, now that he can, gives his sister a call to finally let her know that he's okay and not to worry. Olivia is aghast to hear he's in a whole other country - CORRAN?! Mother and Father have been putting up missing posters, Julian! They're going to be furious.

Being timeblind as hell and also unconsciously procrastinating on going home (because that would mean ultimately returning to the Academy halls), Julian had not really processed that to his family, he had....simply not come back from his most recent expedition, and was now over a week late. So that hits him, and he immediately flies to Heather's side, grabs her arm, and whispers, with grave urgency,

"Heather, I am in so much trouble."

What Heather has witnessed, for her part, is her good pal Julian get real fuckin' flustered around that big lad with the sword and the shaved sides, then run off to his corner, huddle there muttering to himself awhile, and then run back to her in a flap. Her passive insight makes it clear to her that he's genuinely stressed now, he's not just being a big blushing goofball. This requires seriousness.

"It's o-kay, Julian," she says, slowly like she's settling a spooked animal, clapping a big hand on his shoulder and giving it a reassuring rub. "Yer okay."

"It's not!" he cries, "My parents are going to be furious!"

There's a beat. Heather's eyebrows raise in surprise. "Do they not know?" Said eyebrows descend into a thoughtful frown, she tilts her head. "Have y'not....like, told them?"

And the whole table fell apart laughing as Julian scrambled to clarify, and I'm smiling writing it up again even now. What a fucking dork. And what a joy Heather is in every scene.

I think the thing that has me full of the giggles over this exchange specifically is that like....you know when you get to take your hands off the steering wheel of a character and they just do it themselves? This was one of those - he dug this stupid hole himself and I just stood by and watched him do it. He's absolutely useless (affectionate) and it makes me laugh.

My thoughts on the Linagram characters

First of all, I love him as a character! His motive for killing, his follower and even his victim really tells you a lot about the kind of person he is. His personality is snappy with an undertone of sadness (that will surely be more obvious in t2), and I'm interested to find out about why he's so focused on studying.

I personally think that when two characters have a complex and developed relationship, it automatically makes them shine in their own right as well. You can't make two bland characters have an interesting relationship. Admittedly, half of Akio's appeal for me comes from Arata, haha. I want to study them like lab rats.

I wouldn't talk to someone like Akio irl though. He would intimidate me.

Akhsjsksjsjhsudsgss Akio seems like the type to like being carried around (even in a handbag). I can imagine him secretly enjoying it as a chibi. With how much he likes to act like a king, I think he'd like to be carried around like one too. Or maybe he'd prefer certain people carrying him around instead? 👀

I love, love, love her character design! Her gradient eyes have captivated me and seeing her in her oversized uniform makes me want to give her a big hug. Those bandages do a good job of making her look sympathetic too, like a kicked puppy in need of love.

I love her, but all the unknown factors of her crime scare me a lot. I'm not good at analyzing stuff, so I'm mostly worried about the accomplice/friend she had before the whole murdering happened. We don't even know who her victim was, or if she even killed them herself. Her crime is turning out to be not as easy as I thought it was. A very Muu move to pull, good for her.

I'm a little nervous to see her again for t2, because she probably won't stay friends with Akane for long. If it turns out that her murder wasn't sympathetic and she's actually a "bad" person, Akane wouldn't want to associate with her anymore. But they're so cute together. :(

His whole stuttering thing and memory problems would probably weird me out irl honestly. He's interesting as a character tho!

His quirks are really interesting, but there's only so much I can say about him tbh. Shun is a really unreliable narrator, so I don't actually know much about him or his murder? I'm pretty sure I can't forgive him regardless. He's giving me all sorts of bad vibes. Who knows? Maybe he's killed more than a few people.

She doesn't have a good relationship with her parents, so I suspect she hasn't had the best history. I do wonder what her victim did to make her so angry that she would resort to killing him though. I don't think she ever mentioned what he did, just that some kids can be more evil than adults. She doesn't like kids now, but still wants to be voted guilty for her crime. She seems torn over how to feel.

At first I thought her personality would be similar to Mayumi, but she seems closer to Noa actually. I'm getting the vibes that she isn't as nice as she seems actually. Like a reluctant older sister figure that would rather not be here at all. /lh

Can't wait to learn more about her backstory in t2! Her reaction to being voted innocent scared me quite a bit actually. I wonder what kind of character development she'll get.

He such an interesting and fun character, I love everything I read about him! Watching him interact with Eiji is such a treat. Its interesting to see him get under Eiji's skin with such unnervingly accurate remarks. They're obviously incredibly dysfunctional, but I have a feeling they both still love each other in their Sanada family twisted way. I eagerly await more Sanada family lore!

I think he's the kind of character that works better in a dynamic because you get to see just how twisted he is when he's with someone else? Like, him and Eiji, him and Ruka, him and his mom that loves him so much. Him, Eiko and Shun too!

Since he's always giving off the impression that he's happy and having fun in Milgram, I'm looking forward to seeing his little meow meow side in t2 asjdskdskdjkdsk He and Daisuke are quite alike.

Um, yeah, I don't much to say about her. Her family background is intriguing, but something about her personality just makes her forgettable to me? She reminds me of Yuno, and I don't like Yuno all that much. Her careless attitude but high expectations kind of annoy me. Do you care or not?

Also, based on what we know of her crime so far, it seems as though she killed someone she was talking to online because he lied about who he was to her? The murder method is gruesome, but the actual motive is quite boring for me. Hopefully t2 will bring me more juicy details about her crime. Or more lore to let me understand her better.

I love his design soooo much <3 He's a lil purple boi with crown shaped pupils, how could I not like him? His fancy clothes are really cute too! It shows the difference between the more upper class life he had with his adoptive parents compared to the life with his dad.

He's very much a brat, but I can also tell that he's really scared and doesn't know what to do. His prickly attitude is probably similar to Akane's, where they both lash out in order to protect themselves. He still addresses everyone older than him politely though, so that's a really cute detail. I wonder where he learned to do that from?

Yes, he's a horrible person. Yes, he's never done anything wrong with his life. Asahi, an 11 year old murderer, exists. The main theory now is that he killed his adoptive mother by putting something she's allergic to in her food, and we don't quite know why he wanted to kill her yet, but he's obviously traumatized and trying to compensate for the hurt he suffered in the past. His relationship with his imaginary mom isn't the most reassuring coping mechanism either.

I think if he were ever to get out of Milgram alive, there's a chance he could heal and change for the better with the right guidance. He's still a child after all. I wonder if he feels guilty about his murder.

Eiko and Yurika are your ocs that I often forget about, haha. They're just not the type of characters that I pay attention to. I will say that they're very well written though! Yurika's fear of growing up and having to be independent is a nice touch.

Her crime is really hard to pin down, and the contradicting evidence isn't helping much. But I have the feeling that her crimes aren't as complicated as her first MV makes them out to be. The switching of POVs and shaky timeline does a good job of confusing me, but the actual murdering bit probably won't be that hard to understand.

Yurika keeps saying that she killed her victims out of self-defense, but her motive for killing them seems to be more of them knowing too much about her. Also, her manager was most definitely manipulating her into doing some dirty work, so there's that. Although I sympathize with her struggles, she is an adult and should be able to handle her problems without resorting to murder, whatever they may be.

He has the best hair out of all your ocs, hands down. The rings on his fingers really give him a cool look too!

Now, he's really babygirl and I love his personality (bb please stop hurting yourself). Its not that I think that he was in the right to kill his friend, but I can understand his motive behind doing it. His mental state is also in shambles, even from before he was brought to Milgram, so he obviously has some serious issues he's trying to cope with.

I don't think he's the type to kill again if he makes it out of Milgram. Perhaps with the proper support, he can learn to take care of himself. But this is Milgram and Lina /lh we're talking about, so things can never be easy. Can't wait to see what kind of character development he'll get after being voted innocent!

Okay, its not that I really dislike Reina, its just that her "I'm an evil serial killer" act annoys me. Someone claiming they didn't kill anyone or that their murder was an accident I can understand, but claiming that you have over 50 victims? Really? I also think that she's trying really hard to make herself look guilty so that her friends can be spared, which annoys me as well.

I am curious about how and why she ended up bullying others with her friends though. Did she feel pressured to go along with it when they did it as a group? Or was she more active in her decision making? She had a fight with someone over her behavior too, which sets up an exciting story to find out about in t2.

I find her annoying for now, but she's still quite the interesting character! She's going to get violent in t2 in order to make the guards vote her guilty too, so I can admire her determination at least.

Eiji ♡

I love him so much, he's so funky and such a sadistic guard its refreshing in a weird way. Sometimes he gets so excited about punishing the prisoners, it seems as though he doesn't care that much about judging them as much as getting to punish them. There are also times when he decides on someone's verdict based on his personal feelings, like when he wanted to vote Haku guilty because the guy has a good relationship with his brother asdjksdskdjsks In comparison, Es doesn't remember his life before Milgram, so he can't do that.

His relationships with just about everyone he's interacted with is so interesting!!! Especially whatever he has going on with Kei. His friendship with Miki shows promising potential too. If I had enough braincells and ability to string my thoughts together neatly, I could write whole analyses about their relationships but alas.

I am interested in knowing how Eiji would treat someone outside of Milgram though. Like, his normal life in the outside world before he was made a warden in Milgram. I get the feeling that he isn't as aggressive compared to the way he acts as a warden.

Also, the idea of having siblings in Milgram is so cool!! Even better that one is a prisoner and one is guard, and THEY'RE BOTH twisted in their own ways. Its really intriguing how Kei reveals a lot about Eiji's true feelings when they interact, but Eiji isn't able to say much about Kei that we don't already know. ITS SO- GRFSNDISSDJSSK

YO we have a bingo!!!!!

She's very cute, I love her pink pigtails!! Her personality is so complex and well-developed too! At first glance, you'd think she's just idealistic and naïve. But then she turns out to be struggling with strong feelings of guilt from her past and more manipulative than expected. Wow.

Her relationships with the prisoners are fun, and her changing friendship with Eiji is sooooooooooooo good!! Her seemingly gentle personality really shines through when she interacts with others. And based on the different personalities she interacts with, we get to see a new side of her that we don't normally see too.

Her development for t2 is really exciting! I can't wait to see how far she can take her newfound god complex. And how different she'll be treating Asahi now that she knows he's related to her.

for some reason I actually hadn't really thought about it lol. it's definitely not his preferred way of getting off; he will if needs must because he's got a pretty high sex drive but it's just not the same. he's not really inclined to overcomplicate it (really if he's jacking off in the first place he probably doesn't have the time/energy/ability, otherwise he'd be spending those on finding someone else to fuck) and he'll generally be thinking about one partner or another of his, most likely involving something he's already done with them or something he's planning to do (he does, however, have a few fantasies that are very much going to stay that way – either because they'd be too dangerous/impractical, or because he's not stupid enough to ever try and make Khatte play nice with Sylvas in a scene but finds the idea of it extremely hot).

Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)

heavily depends on context. for the most part it's not what he prefers, as we know this man will straight up make a day of it if given the opportunity and he loves to plan out a long/elaborate scene and build up to it and leave a lot of time for aftercare. but there are definitely situations where he's into it. he's got this penchant for pulling his partners off into a corner somewhere to fuck any time he attends an event with them, and/or just running into them there and (consensually) ambushing them.

U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)

mercilessly. he really likes hearing people beg, especially when they don't usually do that. there will always be payoff later, he's not much for withholding things indefinitely. he just wants them to earn it.

W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)

asgsdgfs I always have trouble with wild card type questions but. As a Sith Warrior he canonically has a certain degree of Empathic ability that's specifically attuned to picking up repressed emotions and those more associated with the Dark Side, and provoking/dragging them out into the light where they can't be ignored anymore. While a very useful gift for things like sensing an opponent's weaknesses or pushing susceptible Jedi over the edge, he can and does also use it for kink purposes with varying degrees of intensity and deliberateness. Only with consent, obviously, but he's very adept at lowering someone's inhibitions, ferreting out things they don't want to admit, or achieving something sort of adjacent to hypnosis with some partners (doesn't always work and definitely requires the other person to be on board and intentionally participating to get there, but with the right person and right context it can be a very fun, if intense, time. I'm 99% sure it would work on Sylvas if they wanted to give it a go). He kind of does a lesser degree of this involuntarily because the dude just has a very strong/overwhelming Force presence that he can't really turn off, and it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

Toby(or sprout)

Toby loves meteorology, science, and mechanical engineering.

He rambles about it all the time and will be happy to inform you how to build a car, motorcycle, truck, etc.

Vance doesn't understand a word the boy rambles about but he's glad he has an interest that makes him happy.

He also loves games of all kinds, as long as it's fun.

Toby is sort of a know-it-all and follow-the-rules kid but he tries to be more open-minded when he's around other kids.

He was so happy when Vance tried to teach him how to play pinball. This boy is a pro at Pinball and is reaching Vance's high score by the day.

All in all, Toby is a very sweet, sassy, and humble kid. But if you mess with him or his family he will bite you.

Tammy is a confident and artistic girl.

She loves to sew, sculpt, draw, and paint on anything that is a thing. Her other favorite things are stars and will use her brother's telescope(with or without him telling her she can use it).

She will kick, bite, scratch, and punch if you touch her so...don't do that. She is not afraid to get a little dirty to get her point across, she will fight you.

Tammy embroiders on everybody's clothes, and she did a cute design on Vance's jacket that said: "to the bestest protector ever". He couldn't not wear it?.

Tammy doesn't notice it, but she can be a bit overbearing or " My way or the highway "at times so you have to tell her, or else she won't realize it. She apologizes right away

Vance should have never given her spray paint, his house is covered in rainbows, unicorns, dogs, cats, and much more. Can he say "stop" or "no"? no. The drawings add a nice look to the house anyway.

Pranks, this boy LOVES pranks. He'll prank anybody he'll prank Vance, kyle, Katie, Toby, max, Finney, Robin, etc. The only person he doesn't prank is Tammy because she doesn't cater to his pranks ad she will hit him. His pranks are lighthearted though, she's just easily irritated.

Bobby likes horror movies to the fullest degree, and he shares this trait with his uncle Robin.

His parents don't really care about him so he's watched a lot of horror movies.

He's kind of a quiet kid, he prefers to stay inside than outside. If he has to go somewhere he'll be quiet until someone talks to him. If not, he'll just be somewhere poking a dead animal or in the corner observing.

He's a pretty sweet kid and will stand up for others if need be.

He was bullied a lot in school for his vitiligo but again WAS. After he learned some fighting skills, he beat up two bullies and he was never bullied again.

Katie (or bow)

This girl cannot stand dirt, if she finds one speck of dirt on her pink skirt she will scream.

She's your definition of a "girly girl". She loves anything pink, glittery, shiny, and anything else you associate with femininity.

She is very kind and considerate, if someone is being bullied she will stand up for that person just like Vance and her 'siblings'.

The princess treatment is at an all-time high

When she and Tammy have a tea party EVERYBODY has a tear party.

She can pull the puppy dog eyes to get out of trouble but she does know when that won't work and will except getting grounded.

Very opinionated and picky girl

Don't let her food touch when it isn't supposed to, it's the end of the world.

Kyle(or dino man)

Kyle is the definition of"the shy kid" like his 'brother' Bobby.

He will have to have a small push to socialize and that small push is "KYLE, you've been in the house for three months GO TALK TO PEOPLE"

He has a small stuttering problem when he's nervous and is insecure about it but Vance lets him know that it's ok and he should take his time when talking.

He wants to be an archeologist and paleontologist. He almost knows about every dinosaur known to man and could tell you about every single one if asked. yeah, he's the "dinosaur kid".

He is developing a love for special FX makeup the more he watches horror movies. He never horror movies as scary because he knows the monsters aren't real.

Max(or rock & roll)

Max is a very loud and hyper child.

He will voice his opinion if he wants to, in other words, he can be very painfully truthful.

He loves rock and dreams to be a professional rock singer and player someday.

Vance teaches him how to play the electric guitar and let's just say...the neighbors do not like them in the afternoons.

This boy has the worst sugar rush so he's only allowed small portions of candy if any.

He's beaten up over 3 bullies, 1 his age and two 14-year-olds.

Max is very protective of his family and will hurt you if you hurt any of them.

I got bored so I decided to design some of the kids. Their names were created by @ihearthayleywilliamsxoxo who is a very good writer, and I recommend checking them out.

General headcanons:

Toby and Tammy are usually called sprouts because Vance saw plants & leaves in their hair once and he just started calling them that.

Each of their nicknames has to do with an experience or a subject that they like.

Vance doesn't even know how he got nearly all these kids in his house but he deals with it.

The majority of them barely go back to their parent's houses. The only set of parents that aren't jerks is Toby and Tammy's parents. They are genuinely nice people.

Their parents taught Vance how to work with black hair just in case anything goes wrong.

All of the kids wear these simple yet important necklaces that Vance and his mom gave them. The necklaces are family heirlooms and Lily hopper has a chest full of them.

Reading your important info made me think "you know what I also hate? The use of the word tiny. "He took my tiny hand in his big one" "ny tiny fists" like... to me, tiny is a word for children. Small is a word for adults. Like my hands are smaller than my partner's hands but neither of us would call them tiny. Does that make sense?

I just kept reading that word in relations to hands and "tiny frame" like... to me only a child can have that? That pulls me out of a fic so fast.

Ah, it's interesting that you say this!! Even down to the words "pulls me out of a fic" because that's how I refer to the same sensation. Sometimes a writer has a compelling enough story or style that I hardly notice, and other times I just end up putting something down because I loose the immersive experience of reading. I like being "in" the world I'm reading about, fic or not, and sometimes stuff just takes you out of the world. This is especially common in reader insert fics tbh, at least for me, and for you, it sounds like.

I totally get your association of the word tiny with children. Honestly, even as a kid I was tall and leggy, so I was only ever really called tiny when I was a baby because I was a little on the small side when I was born. I grew so fast and hit puberty so early that I skipped training bras and have the stretch marks all over to show for the initial thiccening my body experienced and continued to experience. So honestly, even tiny feels a little weird for me personally for kids, but that's a heavily contextual preference of mine that would likely never come up in an insert fic.

I really appreciate this comment though, because describing a reader insert character as small can be really disruptive in ways I don't think people understand. Like you, I have smaller hands than my partner, but really, they're average sized otherwise. But there are parts of me that are bigger than my partner too, like my bust and hip measurements, so using small as a universal descriptor wouldn't really work. And who's to say that my hands aren't the same size as Jimin's or Hoseok's? In fact, they might have bigger hands, but I might have thicker fingers. Namjoon might be taller than me but I still have several kilos on him. Jungkook and Jin might wear clothing that looks huge but it's not going to be huge on me if I put on the same t-shirt.

This is exactly why word choice when writing fics with a "neutral" reader insert is so so fucking important, and frankly, not enough. It requires a way of looking at the world that accounts for the multitude of body shapes and sizes and colors and like, once you start making the adjustments, it's really not that hard. I think it's more important to be inclusive, especially of larger bodies, than it is to be neutral. Frankly, I think that for a lot of writers "neutral reader-insert" is just code for "I don't want to put in the work to be inclusive" or "I'm not doing any of the intellectual leg work to actually make sure fat folks or people of color might feel included by this fic."

There's an extent to which a writer will never be able to please everyone with their characters and character descriptions, and that's fine!! That's not what I'm asking us to do. I am asking folks to start treating this matter with more care, however, because I'm still reading stories that claim to be neutral and never are. And that can make it hard to read, especially on days when I need something gentle. It lights a fire under my ass though, as you can see, so I'm going to be on my soft-bodied bullshit for a loooong time.

My Stance on Different Issues

If you want an idea of where I stand on different issues, give this post a read. I'm pinning it and will try to remember to edit it as I feel it's needed.

LGBT Issues

I'm transsexual and bisexual. Naturally I support gay rights and trans healthcare, but that doesn't mean I agree with every idea that comes out of LGBT spaces.

Transsexual vs Transgender

I prefer the term transsexual, because transgender has become a massive umbrella that really doesn't mean much. It can refer to someone like me who transitions from male to female or vice versa, but it can also refer to someone who doesn't do anything except change their pronouns. Worse still, I find "transgender" is often associated with certain ideological beliefs I disagree with... so I simply feel misrepresented when someone uses the word to describe me.

I also find the word transsexual a bit empowering, because my dysphoria is caused by my sex, I'm transitioning my sex, and the word itself seems to acknowledge this. I get that the word has a history, but I'm interested in reclaiming it.

Bisexual vs Pansexual

If someone only identifies as pansexual because they're attracted to trans people, I'd say that's transphobic. That doesn't mean you're a bad person, but bisexuality does include trans people and I'd say you've been led astray if you believe otherwise.

Apart from that, I try not to judge too much. Overall I don't see how it's different enough from being bisexual to deserve its own word, but you do you.

Misgendering & Neopronouns

Misgendering is bad because it teaches other people that someone is the wrong gender. It's especially frustrating for transsexual people to deal with, because we already struggle to be seen as the correct gender, which aggravates our dysphoria, and trying to teach people who we are can feel like an uphill battle when some dunderhead insists on misgendering us.

With that said, it should come as no surprise that I don't consider it misgendering to not use someone's neopronouns. If someone is going for androgyny, there's nothing objectively wrong with using they/them over their preferred xi/xir. Pronouns are meant to serve a practical purpose, while nicknames are meant to be fun.

Nonbinary Identities

If someone only considers themselves nonbinary because they don't relate to masculine or feminine gender norms, then I view the idea as regressive. Gender norms have nothing to do with being a man or a woman, so I don't believe people can just opt out by calling themselves nonbinary.

When it comes to nonbinary people who do transition, I try to keep an open mind. I do think opting out may be possible if you can pull off androgyny well enough.

Detransitioners

I support detransitioners so long as they aren't being transphobic. I think there's too much stigma around detransition and we should support people going through that process, because regardless of their reasoning, that process is more similar to transition than anything a cis person will ever go through.

Feminism

I'm a proud feminist and would say I'm personally affected by women's issues for the most part. While there are things I'm not affected by, it's probably safe to assume I support the common sense stuff like abortion rights.

Radical Feminism and TERFs

My relationship with radical feminism is a bit complicated since it's largely been taken over by TERFs. I do often agree with radfems when they shut up about trans people, but I'm just not interested in engaging with those communities while they're overrun by terminally online fauxminists who seem to hate trans women more than they care about cis women.

So while I could potentially be considered a radical feminist, I'm going to choose not to engage with radical feminism on tumblr.

Gender Abolition

I'm not interested in abolishing the categories of "man" and "woman," because I find them necessary in describing the unique challenges faced by people due to their sex. However, I do find gender roles oppressive and would like society to reach a point where people can do anything they want without having their behaviors judged as "masculine" or "feminine."

Sex Work

I think the ideal would be to reach a point where women don't feel the need to commodify their bodies. So while I'd say I'm supportive of sex workers, I'm against legalizing sex work.

Mental Health

I'm diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and an anxiety disorder. I also struggled a lot with dysphoria-induced depression as a teen and have seen mental health issues hurt people I care about, so I'd say this is something I take fairly seriously and care about.

Self-Diagnosis

I'm against self-diagnosis, because plenty of conditions can mimic the symptoms of another and even mental health professionals can't diagnose themselves due to bias. When it comes to treating a problem, it's important to find the right treatment... so I feel like people who diagnose themselves are doing themselves a disservice.

I think it's fine for someone to suspect having something and to make use of coping strategies they find helpful, but I don't think it's healthy to tell themselves they have a disorder without a diagnosis.

I'm back to rant about more winter thoughts. So I thought more about the VA's voice for her and how the VA thought "will my voice really suit that character" lol but eventho I would prefer winter with a deeper voice (she has moments in the manga when she would suit a stronger voice imo, like when she snaps at milo) I think it shows her softer side well (especially towards alice) and is a nice contrast. This got me thinking about soft winter and you know those people who grab onto others jacket or hoodie sleeves (me) yeah I just think that would make winter go really soft!! Allow me the indulgence!! Also just think about her voice (like her VA or something a bit different) but with a British accent! After all most of the characters (the moriarty's, Spitz, Elmer) have British accents. Just thinking about it makes me 😵‍💫. OH! You know now that I think about it I think the VAs who voiced James Bonde/Irene Adler from Moriarty the Patriot would suit winter nicely too! That's kind of the voice I imagined tbh!

I've thought about the British accent and pictured her with it so many times!!!! I've also researched a tiny bit to figure out how the English differ in speaking to Americans (idk if this is accurate, but I saw somewhere, that they say cuppa instead of "a cup of tea" and I started crying so hard when I read that, cause it was sooooo cute!!!!! I imagined Winter saying it and I cried even more!!! I thought I was gonna die from the cuteness!)! There was so much information, I got a little overwhelmed, but at some point, I'm going to write a story where you can tell Winter speaks in a British accent! Also, I've spoken with someone from Britain and her accent doesn't sound like what you hear on TV! If I remember correctly, it's because she's from the country and the higher class citizens are the ones who have a stronger accent (someone, PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!). The Moriarty's would DEFINITELY be high class, so they'd have strong accents! 😆 Idk what kind of family Spitz comes from, but I can see him being lower class, so he wouldn't have a heavy accent (from the recent arc, Night and Alyssa would have heavy accents, the security guard's accent would be so heavy it'd be hard to understand him, I can see Chelsea and Yudi not having as heavy of accents and I think Hutter and Marsh can go both ways.).

Since Winter is really good at disguises, I'm sure she'd be good at accents, so sometimes, I picture us going up to my friends and playing tricks on them by Winter pretending to be a different person and see how long we can trick my friends into thinking Winter is somebody else. I also think Winter would have random (fake) business cards on her and if we ever ran into a business man, she'd pretend she was also trying to promote her (again fake) business. 😂

Also, it doesn't really matter, but I thought Elmer was American? Or is he just working in America?

I've actually only seen the dub for Moriarty The Patriot, so idk how he/she sounds in Japanese. The dub sounds pretty good for if that VA ever voiced Winter (not gonna lie, when I was trying to convince myself Winter was a guy, as a joke, I said Howard Wang could voice Winter, because if he had to do a little girls voice, he could hit it perfectly. 😂 He's voiced cross dressing men and sounds exactly like a girl!).

Do you know anyone who legitimately is mentally ill? Yes? You're either mentally ill or you're not. I'm hoping by the use of "legitimately" (still a bad usage though honestly) you mean like, more on the severe end of mentally ill, in which case I think so. Girt's mother suffers with schizophrenia and has been hospitalized in the past for her mental wellbeing, but I don't know how regularly this happened/the last time it did, and she still deals with what's absolutely trauma over her husband dying super fucking suddenly. I don't ask Girt many questions about her mental health because I mean it's not my business and I also don't like making him talk about a topic that ties so heavily into his dad being gone. I just know enough to know she's been through a lot and still struggles.

Right now, would you rather be single or in a relationship? I have zero interest in leaving Girt, so in a relationship.

Boyfriend’s mom asks you to go to church with their family, do you go? Christ this might actually happen one day with how religious Shelia is, but my answer would be no, even if I'd be uncomfortable telling her that. I will never, ever, ever, ever give a church my service. Call it an overreaction, I just have so much hatred built up towards religion because of my own history with it from immediate childhood up through very early adulthood. It was full of nothing but crises of self, denial of my own sexuality, becoming a total shit asshole who couldn't accept people different from her... There's just so much pain and remorse that religion has caused me.

I can go on for hours about how men see any feminine presenting person as an object including OTHER CIS MEN?! when i had short hair and looked very androgynous (some guy had to examine my knuckles to determine my sex) i was respected so much more, they used to speak to me properly and include me in their jokes and shit but now i've grown my hair out and look very clearly feminine they've changed so much? im getting so many weird comments form them, they've started talking down to me, they don't talk to me like friends anymore all they do is dm me because god forbid they're seen being nice to me in person. they constantly remind me about how weak i look, make threatening jokes, tell me how easy it would be to beat me in a fight? they've started pulling the "you're not like other girls" bullshit too where as before i was just Tyler, i was a mate to them, now im just an object that they can break if they want to. also so many men have stopped speaking to me now im talking to someone, they only want to know me it they believe theres a chance of them being able to fuck. as soon as you make it clear you have no interest in them they're so cruel. They also started insulting how i looked before, "you look so much better now you've had such a glow up!" "i hated how you dressed before icl" my hair is slightly longer than before and lighter in colour thats the only difference, i still dress the same, they associate short hair with masculinity so they couldn't objectify me back then, I've started feeling unsafe around them again. they no longer look at me, they look through me, or focus on the aspects that interest them, they went from calling me a bro to calling me a slut, i wear the same outfits both masc and fem and yet they look down on me so much more, if i dress in baggy clothes im lazy, i look trampy, if i show skin or anything even slightly skin tight im a slut. they react so strangely when i express interest in my subjects, i talk to them about psychology and im their ramona flowers manic pixie dream girl fantasy or im trying to manipulate them, i talk about law and im "actually so smart, i didn't expect you to know stuff like that", i talk about sociology and im too political (IT ISNT EVEN FUCKING POLITICAL) and i need to relax, god forbid i mention feminism. they're so disappointed when they find out i prefer social sciences over art, "you're wasting your talent" no im not im actively showing you my talent in my subjects you just refuse to listen, you only listen when i make dick jokes because that the only thing you care about. also the way they talk to their feminine male friends? they're so explicitly sexual towards them, their insults consist of calling them a bitch and mocking them saying THEY'RE the ones getting fucked not the ones fucking, they talk down to them to a certain degree too, not as much as to me but enough to notice. masculinity is the only humane thing to men, anything non masculine is just an object for them to do as they please with. i hate the patriarchy so much.
