You know, another thing that always bugged me about VLD is the shape Keith’s Bayard takes.
Tumblr media
People always calls it a sword, but honestly it’s more similar to a katar, a type of Indian push dagger. Which is the same overall design as Pidge’s Bayard.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
It’s weird that Pidge and Keith both use the same weapon as the base for the form their Bayards take, but Pidge’s has a lot more utility with both its grappling hook and taser functions.
YEAHHH I've noticed how keith's bayard is a katar (ancient weaponry autism go brrrr) and I actually think that works really, really, really well for him. (I'm drawing from Autism Research that I did several years ago so I may be misremembering in which case I'm sorry </3) but iirc, a katar has a lot of power in the forward thrust (because the blade is lined up with the user's arm, so he can put his whole weight into a thrust) but they can also be used for swinging/slashing which is generally what keith's fighting style tends to lean toward. additionally, because traditional katar don't really have a lot of blocking protection on the hilt (unlike a zweihander, for example, which has a pretty useful crossguard) for someone to use a katar they have to be pretty quick and light on their feet to compensate for not having as many defensible qualities. which sounds a lot like keith's fighting style to me. katar are pretty versatile and rely on the intensity and power of their design/technique to punch through an opponent's armor and take them down as efficiently as possible, which just fits keith soooooooo well imo
and for pidge, I also really like her bayard because it reflects her personality and fighting style incredibly well, too. it's probably one of the most versatile weapons used in the entire show with its grappling hook, and the taser adds another range of uses (there's the obvious shocking, but I also remember seeing her use it to cut through hulls and things like that) and for a green paladin who thinks outside the box, a weapon that can be used in so many ways works so well. to address the similarities between pidge's and keith's, I actually think it might just be because of the shape of the bayards themselves. the only other two bayards we see take gun forms, so pidge and keith are the only ones with melee weapons which makes it hard to really tell if that handle shape is the norm for bayards or if it's just their unique personalities. but regardless, the H-shaped handle (the main characteristic in katar) is what all the bayards have in their dormant forms, so it might just be a matter of functionality that the handles for keith and pidge's weapons are also H-shaped

Headcanons of Xiao being your older brother!!
A/n ; i might make this a series I always randomly have thoughts of genshin characters being older/younger siblings , ps apologies if xiao is ooc on this (。•́︿•̀。)
Can be read as child or teen !!
Tumblr media
★☆﹒Being xiao’s younger sibling is him teaching you how to fight especially after the cataclysm 500 years ago. How to proper hold, fight and use a polearm personally by your brother and a bit from cloud retainer whenever he was busy completing his tasks.
★☆﹒Xiao will protect all innocences u have even tho he knows you will understand everything that’s happening in the world, it still gives him hope to protect you and not to end up like he did fighting demons where he left off, that is his job, not for you to pick up something he left unfinished if he ever gave up even tho he swears not to only for you
★☆﹒Xiao always leaves you with the rest of the adepti to hang out with so you won’t be bored alone to atleast be entertained or to do something. If you ever wander off and the other adepti tell him where you are with who, he will teleport to you in a blink of an eye and have a worried facial expression. His nerves will calm down when he sees you playing in the field with ganyu watching you.
★☆﹒If you ever want xiao to carry you and nervous to ask, he will notice you wanting to say something and ask you. He will pick you up and carry you on his hip, or he will offer for you to be on his back aka a piggy back ride! A small fond smile appears on xiao’s face from seeing your face light up being carried by your big brother
★☆﹒Xiao is willingly to go to the city just for you if you ever wanted to go to taste more food, get to know liyue more, or to meet with ganyu for any circumstances. He will be very super close to you in the city. He’s always catching up on your speed when you run around or whenever u see something cool, he’s right behind you on your fast feet.
★☆﹒If you ever get hurt from climbing up a tree, falling, the small things of being hurt, xiao will immediately go to you to check you’re not bleeding to bandage anything. But if you got hurt because you got sneaked attacked from sneaking off, his brotherly instincts hit to the max even more possible. He instantly teleports to you and defends you from whatever hurt you by instantly killing/hurting that being. Xiao’s attention is immediately on you and any tasks/missions he had is now forgotten, casted away from his mind.
Tumblr media
You knew you shouldn’t have sneaked off to go play in the flower field without anyone supervising you, but you didn’t want to disturb the conversations they were having chatting away. You’ll only be gone for a few minutes to make a quick flower crown for your brother and be back like nothing! That was when you didn’t notice of a nearby camp of hilichurls with an abyss mage on this peaceful field. A mitachurl was super nearby you and spotted you thinking you came to attack and cause trouble, the mitachurl prepared to attack at you. It ran towards you while you on the other hand, were peacefully humming a lullaby you heard from the people of liyue, you being in your world not hearing the mitachurl.
Xiao just finished killing a hilichurl with karma debt when his body suddenly intensified and felt something was super bad, his brotherly instinct kicked in hard for some odd reason. Xiao’s wondered did something happen with the other adepti with you that is scaring you?? No. He then had thoughts of something bad had happened and immediately teleported to you. He teleported in front of you from trying to run away from a mitachurl with now semi torn flowers in your hands. He immediately grabbed and ran out of the way from the mitachurl charging towards you. Xiao quickly got up on his feet to immediately finish off the mitachurl from charging to you.
You on the hand, were scared from being semi injured from the mitachurl hurting the right side of your body, more impacted from your right arm and shoulder. Xiao’s attention was immediately now towards you, quickly running towards asking if you’re okay and where the mitachurl has hurt you. “[Name]! Are you okay? Did the mitachurl hurt you anywhere?” His voice was filled with worry, his facial expression showed him worried, worried the mitachurl did hurt you somewhere. “My shoulder and arm hurts, it hurts to move big brother..” tears were in your eyes from the pain in your body and xiao was fighting back to show him panicking. “It’s okay it’s okay, I’m gonna gently try carrying you on the side your body doesn’t hurt okay? Bare with me please” Xiao slowly and gently trying his best to carry you in order to teleport you to be treated properly. Whining from xiao’s arms tightly holding you to be then teleported. Atleast now you know why you need the assistance of the adepti to accompany you anywhere, right now your big brother is worrying sick from being hurt and praying it’s not horrible. When you’re recovering you’re gonna receive a scolding from everyone, mainly more your brother, from sneaking off like that.

‌ ‌𓂅
Laying your head on kaveh's chest you mumbled "Tigh...na..ri"
His arms scooped and picked you up, placing your head on his shoulder, he stood up.
"Since this is what they want, I will take my leave now, goodbye." Only took one step before he was stopped by general mahamatra.
"Tighnari, allow me to accompany you on the way"
Huffing while his ears flattened on his head he replied "Fine, just hurry up, their condition is not well, also bring that device and mirror with us." Quickening his pace, he walked out of the akademiya's doors.
Surprised gossips and shocked expression greeted tighnari the moment he took a step out of the main door. Dang it, he didn't think this part through.
The loud slam of the general's polearm drew everyone's attention.
"This is an emergency. Make way for their Excellency or face the mahamatra's punishment."
The surprised gossips turned into some scared whisper, ofcourse it's an absolute honor to get to see you as close as possible but they rather not to get tortured by general mahamatra for doing so.
‌ ‌𓂅
Vision blurry, you wake up on soft and cool mattresses, eyes adjusting to the surroundings, you spot yourself in a rather cottage-ish room. Before you could move your arms to lift yourself up, a hand slightly pushed on your chest, making sure you don't move from the bed, alarmed you looked up, only to face the one and only man, cyno.
The moment you locked eyes with him, he bowed his head, not daring to look at you without any premissions.
"I, welcome you to teyvat your honor."
Silence filled the room,
"Uhm,...thank you..I guess.."
Pressing your lips together you continued "Can I please have a moment with myself?"
"yes, I will excuse myself now." With one last bow he left the room.
Yes you have read sagau fics, yes you have played genshin impact, but this. This actually happening to you is ─ quite frankly not something you wished to experience yourself,
You tried to mix what the authors said about sagau with common sense. All those imposter au fics you read for entertainment weren't helping. You had to make sure if you really are the real one, if you aren't then, god you are screwed. Or you will screw someone.
Reaching to grab the medical knife, you pressed it against your palm.
..
..
"Your holiness what are you doing?!" The green haired girl's voice rang through everyone's ears. Cyno and Tighnari rushed into the room.
Before you could press it any further, arms tangled your wrists, the knife quickly snatched away from you.
"Your grace what is the matter?! Are you harmed?" Tighnari said, his actions quickly following his words, checking your palm inch by inch.

grid-combat sandbox thing!
i get distracted with new projects a lot, but lately my brain's been hyperfocused on one in particular. i wanted to take a crack at combining 4e-style tactical combat with OSR-style sandbox play, which on the surface seem like entirely opposite directions. and they kind of are, but i think i have something
since i started work on it i ended up dropping the words "OSR" and "4e" from my descriptions of it bc i think they end up evoking the wrong image. there's a lot that's core to both playstyles that i'm omitting to make it play nicer with the other playstyle. but it's far along enough now that i can talk about some of the design philosophy and how that manifests.
little to no scaling
the traditional way modern D&D (and to an extent even old-school D&D) handles progression is with big numerical scaling. a level 2 PC has nearly twice as much HP/damage as a level 1 PC. so you scale monsters to match, because the PCs have to get into fights around their level for the game to work.
skeletons are a real danger at 1st-level. they're manageable by 3rd, easy by 5th, and a joke by 7th-level. so you just stop running into skeletons, and when you're nearing the end of that level range any skeleton encounters that do happen will have a lot of skeletons.
this is bad for sandboxes! say i'm preparing a sandbox setting ahead of time and have a dungeon with a bunch of skeletons in it somewhere. i don't know what level the PCs will find it at - depending on whether they go through it as a 2nd-level or 6th-level party, it might be incredibly easy or so dangerous there's little they can do to mitigate that difficulty. or i'll just have to redo my encounter math the moment they find it, and that sucks for both the GM and players.
so, big numerical scaling is out. there's levels, you level up, but most of what you get from that level-up is a new ability. not a big pile of hit points and more damage. there's some scaling, your numbers are like twice as big at 10th-level compared to 1st-level, but it's a small enough range that a hard encounter at 1st-level will stay relevant throughout a whole campaign.
Tumblr media
the game's far along enough i can create & fully level a fighter PC, so i made a 1st and 10th-level (max) character and put them side-by-side to get a feel for the scaling.
the warrior class
speaking of, the first class i made is the fighter, obviously. it's always the first thing i want to get right if i'm making a D&D-like system.
Tumblr media
this is a good showcase of what each class is going to end up looking like: you start with a few core features & two perks (3 for warrior bc i like them being customizable). warrior perks range from a few unique moves to useful passives that let you resist statuses, strike multiple enemies, move further, equip heavier gear, parry weak attacks, etc.
the two core features, versatile fighter & combat opportunist, are designed to reward you for engaging in core combat mechanics. you get bonuses to attack from high ground, and this increases that bonus. every weapon has a unique special move you can do with it, and this lets you use any weapon you have with no cost to switch.
i've never liked the way most D&D-likes handle weapons, where you design your build around one specific weapon. you invest all your feats into being The Polearm Guy and when you find a cool magic warhammer or dagger you're just like. well i don't want this. it's not a polearm. so this fighter is instead designed to encourage you to carry around a ton of different weapons and use all of them.
exploration & the ranger
i used to hang out in the 5e community a lot, and people hated the 5e ranger. why? cause nobody used the travel rules, and you can't really blame them. the game has rules for how far you can travel each day, for random encounters & whether they ambush you, foraging, encumbrance, different travel speeds.
but most people who play 5e don't want that kind of experience, and 5e half-commits to it by leaving these rules scattered through the dungeon master's guide and making them too tedious. everything's measured in real numbers - miles, minutes, pounds. you track weight with pounds instead of item slots. of course nobody wants to track encumbrance when they have to stop the game to ask the GM how many pounds the macguffin weighs. nobody wants to dig through the DMG looking for the rule that tells you how many miles you can move. it just gets in the way and stops the game, so nobody does.
all of this screws over the ranger class which gives you bonuses to things like travel speed, not being ambushed while traveling, finding more rations, and tracking. people disliked the ranger so much that a supplement came out that replaced all of their exploration features with naturey combat features and some skill boosts, and since then that's the actual ranger when anyone wants to play one.
with that context, here's the exploration features my game's ranger gets.
Tumblr media
the feature on the left is inherent while the right two are perks. there's combat features, but they're not part of the point i wanted to make.
the ranger needs to feel useful, and for that, the exploration needs to be front and center. so what better game than one designed for sandboxes?
i don't want this to be the kind of big-damn-heroes game where you skip to the next setpiece because the travel is boring. the travel is the game. that's where the OSR influence comes in.
you track rations. it's important - if a place is far from civilization, it feels like it because there's nowhere safe nearby to restock rations.
you track encumbrance. deciding how much space to spend on arrows and rations, and how much to spend on treasure, means more decision-making.
you do hexcrawling, you track time, and you care how many days a journey takes because the world changes as time passes. enemies & other factions progress their schemes, new developments come up. so sometimes you go, wow, good thing we have a ranger - we can move 3 hexes today instead of 2!
the ranger is better at foraging rations so you can venture further into the wilderness, better at moving your party faster, better at keeping watch. i want that to matter! i can envision it being so satisfying to play a ranger and constantly come in handy. and i want parties without a ranger to wish they had one in a way that isn't just tedious.
so hopefully that gives you a good idea of the sandboxy direction for this game. will be posting about it more as i make progress, and gonna continue to support iron halberd in between this sort of thing

(Sfw) You suffer an injury and Tighnari rescues you
Tumblr media
Characters: Tighnari, GN!Reader (non-descriptive, reader has a hydro vision and uses a polearm but it is not used)
Warnings: Cursing once (?), not proofread-- we die like men
WC: ~1k words
Tumblr media
"You wanted to see me, Tighnari?" He looks up from the shelf of plants he was looking at as you enter his tent. He nods and turns to face you completely.
"Another withering zone was scouted and found deep into Avidya Forest. Could you go track it down and clear it?" You perk almost instantly-- it had been a while since you'd gone out and the fact that you were personally assigned this task sent you over the moon.
"Yes sir! I'll be back in no time at all."
"Just a minute, Y/N." Your smile drops a bit, dreading the next words. You watch as your officer grooms himself a bit, smoothing down a couple stray strands of fur on his ears. His tail sways slowly and stays low to the ground. He manages to catch your gaze with his, his eyes piercing through you. With heightened senses and the instincts of a Forest Watcher, he knew what you were thinking.
"I want you to bring some other rangers along. We've received reports that there has been activity near those withering zones involving Eremites and I don't want you getting in unnecessary trouble," he explains, earning an eye roll and a deep sigh from you.
"I can handle it on my own. I'll make sure to traverse undetected," you argue, and he cocks an eyebrow.
"You've never been out by yourself, Y/N. And this is not the excursion to test that out."
"Please! I can do this myself. Besides, having others may slow the process down and we don't want the withering zone expanding do we?" Tighnari watches you, figuring out that you were going to be a stubborn one today. Deciding that perhaps this will be a good test of your skills and that he could use the extra hands around the village, he lets you go on your own.
"Please be careful and observe your surroundings."
✦✧✦✧
You had kept your promise to Tighnari so far. Enticing fruits and hanging vines from the large trees surrounding you were no match for your pace. You were making great time and according to the markers that Tighnari mentioned, you were close. And you didn't need any extra hands!
Basking in your feeling of self-accomplishment, you hadn't noticed a trap set up by some eremites. In your tunnel-vision pursuit, you stepped on the false floor of leaves and fell through, crumpling upon impact on the cool dirt floor. You ignore the excited chatter from your adversaries above, focusing your energy on maneuvering your body to sit up against the wall.
"Just my fucking luck..." you hiss under your breath, wincing in pain from applying pressure on your right ankle. The pain shoots up your leg and up to your knee-- a clear sign that you weren't moving anytime soon. You look around you, taking notice of your leather bag that has its contents spilling out-- including your vision, which has a cobalt glow. Your polearm, now slightly scuffed, was impaled in the dirt next to your bag.
Biting your tongue to hold back your moans of pain, you lean forward to grab your weapon. Just as you grab the long silver pole, your weight shifts and all that pressure goes to your ankle, causing that similar shooting pain to spread up your leg. You're unable to hold back your yelp and you fall onto your bag, which softens your collapse slightly.
As you lay there, head pressed against the cool leather of your bag and the voices of the eremites can clearly be heard echoing around you, the situation dawned on you. This was your fate-- to die at the bottom of a trap due to your own carelessness. Your days of being a forest ranger, albeit short, were over.
"Y/N! Are you injured?" You hear a voice call out from above-- not one belonging to the emerites you had heard earlier. You try to turn your head and look up the hole, but your angle only lets you get a peek at a figure in the corner of your eyes. Hoping that this was a friend and not foe, you respond.
"Yes! I fell into this hole and now my ankle up to my knee hurts when I apply pressure." You position your arms as if getting ready for a push-up and do exactly that: push up. This time you're able to get a better angle and you realize who your savior is: Tighnari, the Forest Watcher. A wave of relief washes over your body and you let your hands give out so you flop back on the floor.
✦✧✦✧
When you finally get to the infirmary in Gandharva Ville and are set up to be tended to, Tighnari is quick to fall into a lecture about the importance of safety in numbers.
"I told you to come with more than just yourself! Now look at you, out of commission for weeks," he scolds, and his ears are flat against his head. His tail swishes back and forth in agitation, and you feel guilty as you feel the anxious energy radiate from your Chief.
"You're right, Tighnari. I should've listened to you and brought help to that area. Had you not shown up..." you trail off, frowning. You didn't want to think about it. He watches you for a moment, before sighing. He glances around the room, taking note of its emptiness seeing as one of the medics had stepped out to grab some materials. Slow, Tighnari's gloved hands reach out to cup your face, and he gingerly swipes his thumb on your cheek.
"You're lucky I decided to follow a few meters back. Had I not been around to help you or even hear if you needed help..." You smile gingerly at him and reach your hand up to take his hand and move it to your lips, leaving a kiss on his palm.
"Thank you for your concern Tighnari, but I will be okay. I'm a little hard to crack for good." He leans down and gently knocks his head with yours.
"Let's keep it that way, hm?"

I just saw a 1,500 word post of people debating back and forth on the merits of different medieval weaponry, and whether swords or warhammers or this or that were more effective. Every time I see history nerds getting into long debates about how cool their personal favorite obscure polearm is, I can't help but think "It's cool that while we were farming you studied the blade or whatever. Anyway me and the boys are all untrained conscripts and we're dominating the battlefield with our genius strategy of standing close to one another and stabbing everyone with our long ass spears."

Overprotective with a Hint of Jealousy
Pairings: Various Genshin Men x Isekai'd!Reader
Summary: You knew that the men are protective over you because many things happened to you while you were in Teyvat. Even though you knew they were all protective of you, you couldn't help but have an inkling feeling that a certain someone isn't as nearly as protective of you as they are with someone that no longer exists.
Note: This is just a series of unfortunate events that happens to you in the fic LMAO. I had to throw in some angst and jealousy in this fic because I've been in the mood for some angst lately. Although, this isn't technically considered angst. I have been in the mood for some angst or hurt/comfort kind of fics, so, if you see a lot of them being released, that's why. Also, thank you for over 700 followers! :D I honestly didn't think that many people would follow me or be interested in reading my fics hehe. Seeing you all loving my stories makes me really happy! ^^ To my new and returning readers, I post on AO3 as well, so, if you have an AO3 and see a work similar to this, it’s me (Aaliah_exo on AO3). I don’t post anywhere else but on Tumblr (Genshinluvr) and on AO3 (Aaliah_exo).
Warnings: You get hurt a lot in this fic (idk what's up with me and wanting the reader to get hurt. I don't like causing the reader pain, but I do love it when men are in pain (emotionally)). The overprotectiveness is on the men's end while the jealousy is on your end.
Word Count: 6.3k
Part two of Overprotective with a Hint of Jealousy can be found here: Insecurities and Jealousy [Zhongli focused w/ smut].
It’s pretty evident that the men are protective over you. They hover around you like a ruin hunter, ready to strike anyone or anything that poses a danger to your safety. Think of them as a bodyguard who is madly infatuated (perhaps even madly in love) with the person that they’re protecting. You knew how protective they were over you, but not to this extent. Whenever the men are sparring with one another or having a duel, Zhongli and Thoma would put up a shield around you to prevent you from getting hurt by any stray particles (or even weapons) that can come flying your way, which has happened before.
“It’s showtime!” Itto announces, swinging his claymore at Childe. Childe rolled out of the way as Itto barreled towards his direction. Rocks and particles were flying all over the place as Itto swung his claymore at Childe. Itto and Childe were having their daily spar, and everyone was gathered around to watch and see who would win between the two. Since both Childe and Itto are competitive, they have a scoreboard to keep track of who has won the most.
“My Lord, who do you think is going to win this time?” Thoma asks, sitting down beside Ayato as everyone sat idly by to watch the spar between the oni and the 11th Fatui Harbinger.
“I would say Itto, but with the way Childe is flawlessly dodging Itto’s attacks, I believe that it’ll be Childe that will come out as the victor,” Ayato replies, sipping on his boba.
“Ha! You hear that, Itto? Even Lord Ayato says that I’m going to come out as the winner of today’s spar!” Childe boasts, smirking at Itto widely. Itto smirks and launches himself at Childe. Childe dodges Itto once again before turning his bow and arrow into daggers; he twirls it around in his hands before combining them to make a polearm.
“That’s cool and terrifying at the same time,” Venti commented, nervously laughing as he watched Childe twirl the hydro polearm in his hands elegantly.
“Oh, that’s terrifying.” Itto laughs nervously. “But I’m up for the challenge, Harbinger!” Itto grins widely, getting into position as Childe slowly approaches Itto while calmly and elegantly twirling the hydro polearm.
“Just don’t injure one another.” Baizhu sighs, shaking his head in disapproval. The last time Itto and Childe sparred with each other, one person would be more injured than the other. It’s gotten to the point where Baizhu wasn’t even surprised to see if it was either Childe or Itto walking into the med bay (there’s a med bay at the abode just in case) or Bubu Pharmacy covered in scratches and bruises from head to toe.
“I don’t think that’ll be guaranteed.” Diluc rolls his eyes, leaning against the pillar.
Zhongli nods his head with a soft exhale, “Knowing Childe, he will push past his limits, and his thirst for blood will blind him.”
“Why is he always bloodthirsty? I have never seen Scaramouche act like Childe before.” Gorou laughs nervously, twiddling with his thumbs as he watches Childe and Itto try to land a hit on one another.
“He unleashed Osial and almost drowned Liyue. He has always been deranged.” Xiao huffs, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Oh? How interesting. I wonder how a mere mortal like him is able to unseal an ancient god and wreck havoc on the entire region of Liyue.” Kaeya hums, stroking his chin with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh, don’t we all?” Scaramouche asks, looking over at Zhongli from the corner of his eyes before looking over at where Childe and Itto were battling it out.
Kazuha approaches the thirteen men, looking around the abode with confusion on his face. “Have any of you seen [Y/N] today?” He sits down beside Gorou.
“[Y/N]? I didn’t see them today.” Albedo murmurs, gazing down at his sketch pad as he tries to sketch out the scene in front of him— Childe and Itto battling.
“I assume they’ll be out of the abode soon. After all, it is still early in the morning.” Dainsleif spoke up from where he stood.
“Oh, right! I forgot that it’s still early in the morning.” Venti comments, scratching his chin before his lyre appears out of thin air.
“Who spars this early in the morning, though?” Thoma asks, shivering when a cool breeze blows on him and the others.
“The real question is: why is Ayato drinking boba at this time in the morning? It’s a little bit too early for boba, don’t you think?” Diluc raises his eyebrows at the head of the Kamisato Clan. Ayato chuckles in response, sipping on his boba nonchalantly.
“Oh, Diluc! It’s never too early for boba.” A voice spoke up, grabbing the others' attention. You walked over to where they sat and sat between Ayato and Thoma with your own cup of boba in your hands. “I believe it’s the best way to wake yourself up in the morning! Especially since the one I’m drinking right now has a lot of sugar.” You take a sip from your cup.
“Oh? What flavor is it?” Kaeya leans towards you, gazing at you with curiosity.
“Lavender melon milk tea with sakura!” You chimed, taking another sip from the cup. “Although, lavender melon milk tea with sakura boba is not my go-to flavor. I much prefer osmanthus oolong milk tea; it’s frothy and really good.” You added.
“Then why drink something that isn’t your go-to flavor?” Xiao raises his eyebrows at you.
“Because we ran out of the recipe for the osmanthus oolong milk tea.” You sulked, taking another sip of your boba with a small pout on your face. “Don’t get me wrong! I like the lavender melon milk tea with sakura! The only issue that I have with it is that it’s just really sweet. Although, I do need some sugar to wake me up a little, so I might as well drink the lavender melon milk tea with sakura.” You said, stirring the boba with the straw.
“As you can see, Mister Diluc, [Y/N] has refined taste when it comes to beverages. You can drink boba at any time of day.” Ayato says, humming with satisfaction as he takes a long sip of his boba.
“We bond over boba.” You commented, smiling as you continued to take a sip of your boba happily. “Ah, since I missed the first part of the spar, who’s winning so far?” You ask, looking over at the others.
“So far, none of them has landed a hit on one another. Both Childe and Itto kept dodging one another.” Kazuha says, squinting his eyes as he watches Itto and Childe run across the field while trying to hit one another.
“I didn’t think sparring could be so boring until now,” Scaramouche mutters, rolling his head to the side with a soft sigh.
“Especially when it comes to that bloodthirsty Harbinger.” Dainslief comments, closing his eyes.
“It almost seems like he’s holding back…” Gorou trails off, trying to keep track of the battle between Itto and Childe.
“Childe? Holding back in his battles? How peculiar.” Baizhu chuckles softly, shaking his head with his arms over his chest. Baizhu leans back in his seat, watching the spar between the oni and 11th Fatui Harbinger on the giant field in the abode. While it was early in the morning, Baizhu was surprised to see how energetic both Childe and Itto were.
“Perhaps he is, but his bow and arrow did turn into hydro daggers, which he combined the daggers to make them into hydro polearms,” Albedo mutters, continuing to sketch on his sketch pad.
“And what does that mean exactly?” Thoma asks, tilting his head to the side while his eyebrows furrowed with concentration.
“It means that Childe’s not going to hold back anymore and that things are about to go down.” You commented, shaking your cup around before looking at the clear cup with a small frown. “Aw man, I ran out of boba already.” You muttered, a faint pout appearing on your face.
“Oh? You finished your drink already? You just got here not too long ago with your drink!” Ayato chuckles, raising an eyebrow at you.
You sighed dramatically, “I know, right? I need to stop drinking boba so fast.”
You got up from your seat and started to walk back to the mansion to throw your empty cup away. As you were walking away from the field, something whizzed past your face, stopping you in your track. You felt a sharp sting on your cheek; blinking in confusion, you reached up and touched your cheek. You looked down at your hands and saw the crimson color of blood. You slowly turned your head, only to see Childe’s hydro polearm stuck to the tree.
“Watch out!”
Before you could react, Dainsleif yanks you back and into his arms. You stumbled and watched Itto’s polearm come flying and stabbing into the ground where you once stood. Your eyes widened in fear, looking over at Childe and Itto like a deer caught in headlights. Zhongli stood in front of you and Dainsleif, his back facing you and the others. Zhongli had his arms over his chest, looking at Itto and Childe with disapproval.
“What did I tell you two about being careful when sparring?” Zhongli hissed, his amber eyes glowing with anger.
“Yeah! You two could have gotten [Y/N] killed!” Gorou exclaims, rushing over to your side to check and see if you are okay. Childe panics at Gorou’s comment before running over to your side. He pulls you out of Dainsleif’s grasp, cupping your face in his hands as he presses your cheeks together. The look of fear and worry was evident in his eyes.
“[Y/N]! Snookums! I’m so sorry! I didn’t think that my weapon could slip out of my hands like that!” Childe exclaims, wiping the blood off your cheek with the pad of his right thumb. You winced at the stinging sensation before giving Childe a weak smile.
“It’s okay, Childe! It’s not like you did it on purpose or anything like that.” You reply, placing your hand over his.
“How did that claymore slip out of Itto’s hands, though? It doesn’t make sense since he’s wearing gloves.” Diluc gives Itto a disapproving look as Itto pulls his claymore from the ground.
“Listen, man! Sometimes, things just come flying out of our hands no matter how hard we grab hold of something.” Itto says, strapping his claymore to his back.
Dainsleif rolls his eyes, “Well, be careful next time! You could’ve gotten [Y/N] killed.”
“You’re hurt because of me!” Childe frowns, his eyes zeroing in on the cut on your cheek.
“For someone who is so prideful in being the “strongest,” you sure are careless,” Scaramouche commented, smacking Childe upside of his head, causing the ginger Harbinger to scowl at him.
“You’re lucky that the dagger didn’t penetrate [Y/N]’s skull. If it were to do so, I would’ve killed you.” Xiao glares at Childe before pulling you out of Childe’s grasp and handing you over to Baizhu.
“Let's patch up that wound, shall we?” Baizhu gives you a small smile before escorting you to the mansion.
Diluc sighs softly, “We’re just lucky that this will be the only incident where [Y/N] got a minor injury.”
Kaeya hums in agreement, stroking his chin with his right hand. “Let’s just hope that this will be the only time.”
Kaeya leaned against the pillar while the others around him murmured in agreement while nodding their heads. To be frank, everyone thought that the whole sparring incident was going to be the only time where you would get injured or be put in harm's way, but they were wrong. And so were you. For some reason, your luck seems to have gotten worse ever since you almost got your head cut off by Itto’s claymore and Childe’s hydro polearm.
You were walking around Liyue with Scaramouche trailing after you. The both of you were supposed to go to the market to buy some ingredients for Thoma, but then something caught your eyes as the two of you were approaching Liyue Harbor. A beautiful glaze lily, all by itself.
“Ooh! Pretty glaze lily!” You gasped, quickly approaching the lone glaze lily.
As you were just about to pick the glazy lily off the ground, the ground beneath the glaze lily lit up red. Scaramouche grabs you by your shirt collar and pulls you back into his arms; the two of you stumble to the ground as a pyro whopperflower appears in front of you where the glaze lily once stood.
You and Scaramouche later returned to the abode with the bottom of your clothes singed and burnt. Scaramouche had a deep scowl on his face while you had a small pout on your face while muttering about being betrayed by the appearance of the glaze lily. While Thoma was disappointed that you came back to the abode empty-handed, he didn’t question as to why you didn’t get any ingredients for him after seeing both your and Scaramouche’s appearance.
There are days when you want to explore all of Teyvat (mainly Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma) with the men! Ever since the whole sparring and whopperflower incident, it has made the men quite protective of you. You weren’t too sure if they were overprotective of you because you almost got killed or if it was because of your bad luck. The men stuck by your side practically 24/7 outside of the abode, regardless of the actual reason. Some choose to stick by your side at all times, whether you’re in the abode or out of the abode (Childe).
“Can we explore this abode? I’ve always wanted to see what an abandoned abode looks like in person.” You said, pointing at the abandoned abode in Liyue.
“I believe that it’s best that we don’t explore an abandoned abode, especially one that was once owned by a god,” Zhongli says, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Once owned by a god?” You muttered, furrowing your eyebrows in confusion before it dawned on you. Guizhong. The abode that you wanted to explore used to be owned by Guizhong before she passed away and turned into dust. Quite fitting for her title. The God of Dust truly became dust herself. “Oh.” Your expression immediately soured.
“Yeah, never mind then.” You rolled your eyes; you turned around and walked away. Zhongli furrows his eyebrows in confusion at your sudden negative attitude, walking away with a dark cloud looming over your head.
“What just happened?” Venti asks, scratching his cheek with a questioning look.
“Not sure, but [Y/N] doesn’t seem too happy about not being able to explore an abandoned abode that was once owned by Guizhong, the God of Dust,” Albedo says softly, watching you walk away.
“We should go after [Y/N] just in case something happens,” Kazuha says softly. The others nod their heads in agreement before walking after you. You continued to ignore the sounds of their footsteps right behind yours as you looked around the scenery. While you don’t hold any distaste for the deceased God of Dust, you couldn’t help but feel a tinge of jealousy at the thought of her. Guizhong this, Guizhong that. Guizhong is highly intelligent and is a very close friend of the former archon, Zhongli. Very close friend.
“Uh! [Y/N]! I don’t think you should go there!” Childe hollers, watching you walk further and further away from them.
“Yeah, yeah. Stop babying me; I’ll be fine!” You waved off Childe’s warning, continuing to walk to wherever you pleased.
“No, really! You shouldn’t go there! It’s not safe!” Gorou exclaims.
Despite you being a good fifteen yards away from where they stood, they can hear a faint sarcastic scoff coming from you. Again, you continued walking wherever you desired, not heeding their warnings.
“What’s up with them?” Scaramouche scrunches his face up with annoyance, continuing to trail after you with the others around him.
“[Y/N] is clearly upset that Zhongli wouldn’t let them explore Guizhong’s abandoned abode,” Xiao replies, sighing softly.
“Is [Y/N] really upset about that, or are they upset about something else?” Kaeya cocks his eyebrows at Xiao.
“What would [Y/N] be upset about?” Venti asks, looking at the cryo vision holder curiously.
“It’s a little bit obvious as to what they’re upset about,” Diluc says, sighing softly.
“Listen, it may be obvious to most of you, but it’s not obvious for me and a few others!” Itto says, crossing his arms over his bare chest.
“Well, Itto, some of us have brains, and some of us don’t,” Ayato says, looking over at Itto with a faint smile on his face. Before Itto could open his mouth to say something, he was cut off by the sound of your loud yelp.
“Oh, dear archons.” Thoma quickly rushes over to where you once stood moments before you disappeared. Thoma looks over the edge to see you sliding down the cliff. Well, sliding would be an understatement. You were tumbling and rolling down the steep cliffside.
“Where’s [Y/N]!?” Kazuha asks, running over to where Thoma was standing.
“Tumbling down the cliffside!” Thoma states, pointing over to where you landed. You groaned in pain and lay on the ground. While tumbling down the cliff, you were pretty sure that you had a sprained ankle along with possibly being covered in bruises and scratch marks.
“And you didn’t go down there to prevent them from getting any more injuries?” Albedo asks, looking at Thoma in disbelief.
“How was he supposed to go down the cliffside without getting hurt himself?” Baizhu sighs, crossing his arms over his chest with a frown on his face.
While the men bickered with one another, Dainsleif helped you get back to the top of the cliff where the others stood, still arguing with one another. Dainsleif was giving you a piggyback ride. He was holding onto your legs while you had your arms wrapped around his neck.
“Are you alright?” Dainsleif asks softly, glancing at you over his shoulders.
“Yeah, I am.” You sighed, resting your chin on Dainsleif’s shoulders, closing your eyes as he approached closer to where the others were standing.
“[Y/N]! Are you okay!?” Childe asks, running up to where you and Dainsleif are.
“You’re not injured, are you!?” Diluc asks, his eyes scanning you for injuries. Aside from your disheveled look with a tiny pout on your face, which makes you look adorable. You reminded him of a kitten in a way.
“I’m fine.” You muttered, tightening your grip around Dainsleif.
“[Y/N], we told you not to run off and to be careful. What did you do? Ignore our warnings.” Zhongli scolds you, crossing his arms over his chest with a small glare. You huffed and looked away from Zhongli, burying your face into Dainsleif’s back. You weren’t in the mood to talk to Zhongli, let alone hear him scold you as if you were a disobedient child. Granted, you did ignore their warnings and did end up getting hurt in the end with your recklessness.
All because you found out that the abode you were wanting to explore belonged to the woman that once meant the world to Zhongli. Zhongli would never care about you as much as he cared about Guizhong. Never. Of course, he would care about you, but only to an extent. You feel your heart clench in your chest. Dainsleif felt his back getting damp, only to realize that you were crying. Dainsleif couldn’t decide on whether you were crying because you were in pain or if it was because of Zhongli.
Dainsleif rolls his eyes before huffing, “Enough. Let’s get back to the abode and get [Y/N] some medical attention.” He pushes past Zhongli and the others, tightening his grip around your thighs.
Once everyone had returned to the abode, you received medical treatment immediately by both Baizhu and Albedo. Your eyes were swollen, your cheeks were bright red, and your eyes were bloodshot. It was clear as day that you cried. Even if the men were to try to ask you if you were okay, you would ignore them and limp away with Dainsleif by your side. The person that you were ignoring the most was Zhongli. Every time you see him, you would bury yourself against Dainsleif’s side with your face pressed up against his chest as if you were trying to hide from Zhongli’s gaze.
“I wonder what you did to make them upset, Mister Zhongli,” Childe says nonchalantly, tossing a berry into his mouth before chewing on it.
“Yeah! I’ve never seen [Y/N] ignore Zhongli like this before.” Gorou speaks up, his eyebrows narrowing slightly.
“They’ve never avoided Zhongli, ever,” Xiao murmurs.
“Zhongli isn’t the only person that they’re ignoring,” Kaeya speaks up, sitting down on an empty wooden stool near the bar.
“They’re avoiding all of us.” Diluc sighs, frowning at the thought of you ignoring them after the incident.
“Could it be because we’re too overprotective of them?” Ayato asks, looking up at your closed bedroom door.
“That can’t be it! [Y/N] likes it whenever we’re protective of them!” Venti shakes his head at Ayato’s question.
“But not when we’re overly protective of them,” Kazuha interjects, a tiny frown appearing on his face.
“It’s quite obvious why [Y/N] is upset.” Baizhu chuckles dryly, shaking his head. It was obvious! Why weren’t the others getting the hint? Specifically Zhongli. Not only did Zhongli make you upset by mentioning Guizhong, but he fueled the fire by scolding you right after you had taken a tumble. The only bright side was that you weren’t terribly injured. You only got scrapes and bruises. You did sprain your ankle, so you ask Dainsleif to help you around the abode while ignoring others around you that had offered to help you. Specifically Zhongli himself.
“Well, they need to tell us what’s wrong. If it’s about the stupid abode, then [Y/N] shouldn’t be getting upset over not being able to explore something as old and vacant.” Scaramouche grumbles.
“Perhaps it’s something that relates to the abode that upsets them,” Albedo says softly, looking over at Zhongli from the corner of his eyes. Zhongli still didn’t get the hint and continued to contemplate what could have caused you to be upset with him, other than scolding you and stopping you from exploring an abode that was once owned by Guizhong.
Days have gone by, and it was like you were testing out how protective they are over you. Or, well, it seems like you were testing out their patience instead. One time, you came back to the abode after leaving to shop for some groceries, only to come back with an arrow stuck on your shoulders.
“What happened?!” Diluc gasps, running over to you, gently grabbing you by your uninjured shoulder.
“Treasure hoarders.” Was what you’ve squeaked out before collapsing into Diluc’s arms, dizzy from the amount of blood you’ve lost. Diluc picked you up bridal style before rushing you to the med bay where Baizhu and Albedo were. Baizhu and Albedo nearly had a heart attack at the sight of you being covered in your own blood, with an arrow sticking out of your shoulders.
“Dear archons, what happened?!” Baizhu asks, immediately rushing to your side with medical supplies in his hands.
“Treasure hoarders.” You breathed, your head resting against the crook of Diluc’s neck, eyelids feeling heavy.
“You didn’t have anyone accompany you in Teyvat?” Albedo asks, pulling on latex gloves.
“Well, Zhongli offered to accompany me, but I declined his offer and left.” You sighed, wincing in pain when Albedo gently tugged on the arrow.
“It’s really stuck in there.” Albedo hums, looking over at Baizhu.
“What do we do? Pull it out or get it surgically removed?” Baizhu glances over at Albedo, who is deep in his thoughts.
“Pull it out!?” You shrieked, jerking up from your spot, looking at Baizhu and Albedo with wide eyes.
“Pull what out?” Thoma asks, walking into the med bay while munching on his Dango. Thoma’s eyes fall on your shoulders; Thoma’s Dango falls out of his hands at the mere sight of blood on your body and an arrow sticking out of your shoulders.
“I’m okay! Just another day in the life of [Y/N].” You squeaked, giving Thoma a strained smile.
Long story short, Albedo and Baizhu ended up yanking the arrow out of your shoulders. You have never screamed so loud in your entire life that you were sure that it shook the whole mansion. Sadly, whenever you let out that loud, agonized scream, it attracted the attention of the others who weren’t there to witness it. Like last time, Zhongli gave you a disapproving look that reminded you of your parents.
“You wouldn’t have gotten hurt if you had allowed me to accompany you.” Zhongli sighs.
“Well, maybe I don’t want you to accompany me and would much rather have someone else protect me instead.” You huffed, crossing your arms across your chest before wincing at the sharp pain that shot up your injured shoulder.
“Yikes,” Venti mutters, his eyes widening at your response to the ex archon.
“Ouch.” Kaeya hissed, watching the quarrel between you and Zhongli unfold.
“If [Y/N] said that to me, I would’ve cried myself to sleep,” Itto commented.
“They didn’t even say that to me, and it hurt my feelings,” Ayato whispers to Itto, Kaeya, and Venti.
“You’re still upset with this old man not allowing you to explore the old crusty, dusty, vacant abode?” Scaramouche asks, cocking his eyebrows at you. You rolled your eyes in response while Zhongli glared at Scaramouche.
“I think we should leave [Y/N] and Zhongli alone for them to talk it out,” Kazuha says, getting up from his seat.
“No! Don’t leave me alone with him!” You exclaimed.
“[Y/N]!” Xiao gives you a look, but you ignore it.
“Hey, if [Y/N] doesn’t want to talk to Zhongli at the moment, then let’s not force them to, alright?” Gorou speaks up, his eyes scanning the room.
“I believe that [Y/N] is just tired, and their injury is causing them to be irritable. They should get some rest.” Dainsleif says, helping you off the bed. You immediately attach yourself to Dainsleif’s side, your uninjured arm linked with Dainsleif’s arm. You failed to see the expression on Zhongli’s face after your protest of being left alone with him. Zhongli felt his heart throb in his chest painfully as he watches you and Dainsleif walk out of the med bay, completely ignoring his presence and stare.
You have bad luck when it comes to being outside of the mansion. You almost got killed by Childe and Itto’s weapons, you took a tumble down the side of a cliff, and you got shot in the shoulder by a treasure hoarder. If bubble wrap were to exist in the world of Genshin Impact, you were pretty sure that the men would wrap you up in bubble wrap to prevent you from getting hurt. What they didn’t think about was that you could get hurt in the mansion too. You were helping Thoma make dinner for everyone else.
“I’ll cut the onions.” You said, grabbing the purple onion from the vegetable bowl before peeling the skin off the onion.
“Here’s a knife to slice the onions.” Thoma hands you the knife with the handle facing your way. You reached over to grab the knife before placing it down on the wooden counter. After peeling the onion’s skin off, you began cutting the onion. You ended up regretting offering to cut the onions because now your eyes were stinging, and tears were running down your face. Instead of stopping to give your eyes a break from the whole onion ordeal, you persevered.
“So! What are we having for dinner?” Itto and Gorou walk into the kitchen, sniffing the air.
“Wow! Smells really good!” Gorou exclaims. He peeks over Thoma’s shoulder to see what Thoma is cooking.
You wiped the tears off your face, your eyes squinting as you continued to slice the onions. Your eyes stung so much as the tears that were rolling down your cheeks like an endless stream.
“What’s the matter, [Y/N]? Why are you crying?” Diluc asks, grabbing your attention from the cutting board.
You laughed, “Nothing’s wrong, Diluc! It’s the onions that are stinging my eyes, causing me to shed a tear or two.” You wipe your eyes with the back of your hand. “I hate onions sometimes.” You sighed, tossing the slice of onions into a medium-sized bowl.
“You had me worried for a second. I thought you were injured again.” Kazuha says, gently nudging your side with a teasing smile on his face.
“Oh, Kazuha, I appreciate that you worry for me, but I’m not injured.” You poked him lightly.
“Thankfully, or else the funeral consultant over there will hurt someone if you were injured.” Kaeya comments, tilting his head over to where Zhongli stood.
“We’ve seen Zhongli angry before, but I don’t want to see how angry he can get.” Childe comments, taking a big bite out of the sunsettia in his hand.
“He’ll probably throw boulders like how he did that to me in the past. Isn’t that right, blockhead?” Venti asks, looking over at Zhongli with a teasing smile on his face.
“Throw boulders?” Scaramouche asks, glancing over at Xiao.
“Don’t ask.” Xiao shakes his head, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“You know, I wouldn’t mind witnessing Zhongli throwing boulders at someone.” Ayato comments, biting down on his boba straw with a smile.
“I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes before….” Dainsleif says, giving Zhongli the side-eye. Zhongli looks at Dainsleif; the two held eye contact for a while. You and the others around you can feel the tension between Dainsleif and Zhongli. You pursed your lips before continuing to do your task of helping Thoma cook dinner. The kitchen is quite spacious, but not enough to fit over ten people in the room, with furniture and kitchen appliances in certain areas of the room. For some reason, everyone wanted to stay in the kitchen while you and Thoma tried to make dinner, thus making the kitchen a little bit cramped.
Gorou, Childe, Itto, and Xiao were chasing each other around (well, Xiao was cursing at Itto to not run in the kitchen) the kitchen. Thoma was carrying a pot of boiling water when Itto and Childe bumped into Thoma, causing the pyro vision wielder to jerk forward, spilling almost the entire pot of boiling hot water onto you.
From then on, everything was a blur to you, and you didn’t know what else happened afterward. All you could remember was your arm, your body, one side of your neck, and your face burning. You didn’t remember if you screamed in pain or if you reacted in any particular way because when you came to your consciousness, you were in the arms of Zhongli.
“It hurts, it hurts so much.” You sobbed; your body was shaking from the immense pain you were feeling. Your arm and legs were dark red from the scalding hot water. Diluc, Kaeya, and Dainsleif were scolding— no, yelling, at Childe, Itto, and Gorou while Xiao stood where you and Zhongli lay.
“I’m going to kill them,” Zhongli mutters, looking over at Childe, Gorou, and Itto with a glare.
“Take [Y/N] to the med bay,” Baizhu says.
“Carry them there immediately because I’m afraid that if we don’t get [Y/N] treated right away, their tissue and cells would be destroyed,” Albedo says, examining your reddened skin.
Zhongli didn’t speak to anyone after that incident, and he wouldn’t leave your side, even if you’ve thought about avoiding him. But you couldn’t do that, especially right after you saw the expression on his face while you were getting your burns treated. Now you have bandages wrapped around the areas that were burned by the scalding hot water. You were forbidden from stepping foot into the kitchen if Itto, Childe, and Gorou were present. You were pretty much bedridden until you were able to do everyday tasks without wincing in pain. Doctor Baizhu’s orders and Albedo’s order as well.
“Looks like Zhongli and Thoma will have to put a shield on you at all cost to prevent you from getting hurt,” Venti commented.
“Seems like it.” You sighed, laying down on your bed with a weak sigh.
“How are you feeling?” Kaeya asks, sitting down beside you as he tucks your hair behind your ears.
“It still hurts. I don’t really remember what happened when the water spilled on me.” You muttered, gazing down at the nude color bandages that were wrapped around your legs, arm, neck, and torso (which were covered by your shirt).
“You screamed so loud that glass shattered. You went into shock and nearly collapsed to the ground, hitting your head on the table. You were lucky that Zhongli was immediately at your side the minute he heard your bloodcurdling screams.” Ayato says, his eyes scanning your injuries. How many times were you injured within the span of a week? One was enough, but it seems like your luck seems to have worsened after the whole Itto and Childe sparring incident.
“I’m so sorry for spilling boiling hot water on you, [Y/N]! If I held onto the handles more tightly, it wouldn’t have spilled all over you.” Thoma’s bottom lips quivered as tears began to pool in his eyes.
“No! It’s not your fault at all, Thoma! Please don’t blame yourself!” You squeaked, grabbing onto Thoma’s hand, giving him a comforting squeeze.
“You never gave us a reason as to why you’re upset with Zhongli,” Xiao spoke up from his spot. You sighed and sat back on your bed, scratching the back of your neck, only to end up scratching the bandage.
“I…. got jealous that Zhongli still cares about Guizhong even way after she had passed. I wanted to have someone to care about me as much as Zhongli cares about her long after she’s gone.” You reply, tugging on the loose thread of your shorts.
“I’m sure he cares about you too, just as much as we care about you,” Diluc says.
You shook your head, “I’m talking about if I were to return to my world. No one will care or remember me long after I’m deceased. I don’t have a lover who cares about me as much as Zhongli cared about his deceased lover.”
“Guizhong isn’t Zhongli’s lover; she was his close friend,” Childe comments, looking at you quizzically.
“Either way, I’m never getting that. Ever. I’ll just be forgotten, as usual….” You trailed off with a sigh. “Speaking of being forgotten, I don’t think anyone in my world noticed that I had mysteriously disappeared.” You muttered, your shoulders slumped at the realization.
“All I’m getting from this is that you’re going to choose Zhongli in the end,” Scaramouche comments, earning a scoff from you. You shook your head and closed your eyes. Ever since you arrived in Teyvat, you’ve already been through so many things. But this week and the previous week were strange. You kept getting bodily injuries that could have killed you, yet you somehow survived all of these strange and dangerous events.
“As if I’ll be choosing any of you in the end.” You said, earning collective gasps from the men. “Oh, wow, I worded it wrong. I didn’t mean it that way!” You smacked your forehead with the palm of your hand.
“I meant that I don’t know if I’ll be returning to my world or if I’ll be stuck here forever. I’m hesitant about “choosing” who I want to be with because what if I end up returning to my world?” You ask.
“Why choose when you can be in a relationship with all of us?” Itto asks.
“I honestly don’t know how that is going to turn out. Some of you are possessive more than the others!” You exclaimed, looking over at Childe and Zhongli, who avoided your gaze with a faint blush on their cheeks.
“I believe that we’re all possessive over you in some kind of way,” Gorou says.
“Some of us might not show it, but we’re quite possessive. Even if some show it more than the others.” Kaeya looks around the room, making eye contact with certain people in the room.
“I think it’s cute that you guys are protective over me, but maybe dial it back a little?” You ask, giving them a pleading look.
“I don’t think that’ll be possible, dove.” Kazuha chuckles, shaking his head.
“You endured many injuries within a week; I believe that we should keep [Y/N] at the abode at all times.” Ayato declares. Everyone (except for you) immediately agreed to Ayato’s suggestion.
“If it keeps [Y/N] out of harm's way, I’m okay with that,” Zhongli says, sitting down on your bed beside you.
“Are there any objections?” Dainsleif asks, looking around the room for any protests.
“Yes, me! I object!” You whined. “I need to go outside once in a while! You can’t just keep me in the abode for a long period of time!”
“If it’s to keep you safe, we will do it,” Zhongli says.
You groaned and plopped back down on your bed, the top of your head hitting the wooden headboard of your bed, making you cry out in pain.
“Well, it looks like we’ll be getting rid of that headboard.”
“HUH!?!”
Note: It's insane how I kept getting ideas for new fics when I need to make more parts for other fics hahaha. I'm trying to update at least once a week for you all to read and enjoy. I am nearing the end of my second year of college and will be graduating soon, so, I'm hoping that I can start accepting requests once I've graduated! As for my schedule, once my third year of college begins, I'll have to think about that more since the semesters are way shorter at universities. This note will always be at the bottom of my stories: I ONLY post on my Tumblr (Genshinluvr) and my AO3 (Aaliah_exo)! Nowhere else except Tumblr and AO3!

To our highest of highs, to my lowest of lows. Genshin Impact Imposter! Au
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Self Aware Genshin AU (SAGAU)
Genre: Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Fluff
GN! Reader
Summary: Waking up not in your room and in a grassy plain with a blue sky is definitely not what you thought would happen, so is being in the world of one of your games.
Part 1 , Part 2
Tumblr media
Waking up in Teyvat, realising that it's probably not a dream, you start to panic a bit. “Oh god, how did this happen… uhh okay I have my phone…” you whispered, taking your phone and looking at the screen. You observed that there are no characters in your party, nor in your character page, you checked your inventory, nothing. “This is like starting from square one all over again, except I’m in actual Teyvat and I have no vision nor experience in weaponry…” You complained.
You opened the map area to see that you are at the peak of Starsnatch Cliff, from there you can see the city of Mondstat. “Hmm, Let’s see if waypoints will work for me” you said, choosing to teleport to the statue of the seven at Windrise.
A wave of dark fog engulfed you and when it dispersed, you were standing in front of an Anemo statue. “Now, I wonder what happens if I…” you mumbled, reaching towards the statue. A light of blueish green appeared and surrounded you. “So… Do I have Anemo powers now?” you asked yourself, ‘anemo!’ you thought and did a pushing motion. A gust of wind came out of your hands. “Yow!! I have powers now!!” you exclaimed. “Alright, time to head to Mondstat!” You said, looking at your map as a guide.
You traversed the terrain surprisingly easily with the help of your phone as a map. While you were walking, you spotted a group of hilichurls with their towers in the making setting up camp. ‘Uh oh…’ you thought, trying your best to remain calm, now it has settled into you that Teyvat is a dangerous place to wonder about. Monsters lurked almost everywhere. You tried to walk away from them but seemingly so, one has spotted you, immediately telling its peers of your presence, they ran towards you.
‘Oh shit- I should run!’ and you did, but just as you were about to lose them, you tripped.
You looked back in fear as they closed the distance, you braced yourself to protect you if they attacked, but lo and behold all they did was drop to their knees with a bow.
“Wh-what…?”  you questioned, confused with what's happening. You saw a family of dendro slimes approach you, hesitantly you reached towards them, the slimes immediately relishing in your touch. You realised you weren’t in any danger right now and these mobs were only being friendly. ‘I’m so sorry for always attacking you all in game… I kinda needed the materials T-T ‘  you thought.
After a while you got up and bid them goodbye. You walked towards the city gates of Mondstat. Although the teleport waypoints were available, you wanted to get the opportunity to explore the world on your own and maybe find chests on the way. Lucky for you, you managed to find some common and exquisite chests, containing trinkets, mora and some weapons.
“Hmm… A polearm or the sword…?” you decided to take both. As you went to pick them up, you realised something, “Oh… I don’t have a bag…” you said out loud. You grabbed the polearm but then it disappeared. “Wha-” confused, you opened your phone and went to your inventory. “Ohh! They automatically go in the inventory? Cool! But… how do I wield it though…” excitedly, you tried thinking of the polearm. ‘Pls work pls work pls work… I summon the polearm’. You felt some metal in your hands and to your excitement, the polearm was in your hands. “Cool!! So that’s how the characters summon their weapons!!” you exclaimed.
“Now to put it back… usually they do this…” you say, doing a sheathing motion. The weapon dissolved into particles and attached itself to your back, disappearing after some time. “This is soo cool!!” you say to yourself as you continue your walk.
Tumblr media
In the palace south of dragonspine, Barbatos runs into the throne room, alerting the guards and the divine creator. “Your grace! This imposter is no ordinary folk, they managed to acquire the power of Anemo! I felt it!” the Anemo archon exclaims.
“Well, that must mean their destination is Mondstat. Have the acolytes patrol the city and the wilderness, their destination should be the city. Remember, bring them back to me alive.” the fake creator orders, a cold tone present in their words.
“Yes, your grace.” Barbatos bows, and rushes out of the room to inform the Knights of Favonius about the order.
‘Your downfall will be my victory, only one can remain, and you, true one, will die in my hands. You will have never existed, and I shall be the true ruler. For what is a land abandoned by its owner if not property of its new founder’ the imposter thought, a ghost of a smile creeping into their face.

(Hello-! I'm kind of new to asking during events so im sorry if it was actually closed! ^^'') To the General Mahamatra, Cyno.
Hello Cyno! I had just wanted to check up on you, which is why I had brought this letter over, but something was kind of stuck in my head.
Nahida told me you liked telling jokes! So I decided to include a small gift I held onto for a few years! It's a book of jokes I've said or used with explanations. I'm not certain this message will reach you, but if it does, keep it away from the other matra lest they start running again, eheh-
I hope this letter does reach you, Cyno, have a great day or night, okay? I promise to pray for you to have a safe travel no matter what.
-🌟Moth
[There seemed to be a small journal, with a few hand written jokes inside with a tag attached to the front page. It read: "For the General Mahamatra, have fun!"]
cyno walked the desert, red eyes sweeping the sand. he wasn’t looking for anything in specific- you could hardly call this a patrol, in truth. he was simply walking, just outside of aaru village, with no real intent except for his occasional glance upwards to appreciate the meteor shower currently taking place.
the sand and the air were cool, wicking away any sweat worked up from pacing in circles for the last… how long? an hour, maybe? he wasn’t sure. all he knew was that he’d made the decision to go for a walk not long after sundown, and ever since he had been doing just that. walking.
it felt almost like he was waiting for something. every time he would think surely, now he would be able to rest, every problem he has solved and every errant thought out to rest, some new idea would spring forth of nowhere. ‘stay for a while longer,’ it said, and though he would protest every time, well…
cyno shifted his weight his heel, prepared to walk his well-worn loop. however, at the last point before his turn, something warm came up behind him.
his polearm was in his hand before he could think, instinct angling it over his other hand to block whatever blow was coming. yet, nothing came.
a strange ball was floating just past his weapon, the bright shell standing out against the desaturated desert. part of him expected it to explode, to burst into flames, to do something dangerous to prove that his instinct to stay had been right.
but it didn’t, and it was only thanks to his reflexes that he managed to catch whatever dropped from the rapidly-dissipating shell before it hit the sand.
cyno’s mind raced as he noticed one of the objects he was holding was an envelope, understanding crashing into him. he’d just raised his weapon against a messenger of his god- of course it was you, who spoke through the stars, and even unintentionally, he still…
thankfully, you don’t seem to hold it against him.
your letter is kind, and though you addressed him by title, the rest of your language is far more casual. its… comforting, almost, as if he’s received a message from an old friend.
maybe it’s poor form to think of you like this. to dare touch what should be regarded as holy scripture, to flip through the book you gave him, skimming the notes you’d made, the comments you’d left for him.
and maybe it was dangerous to be so distracted in the dessert at night, when the light of your star had almost certainly acted as a beacon for his location. but you had blessed him with safe travels, promised him a safe night, and he believed that that was true.

Weapon Review part 1(?)
Warning: will describe what weapons do
Let's review how well the weapons fare against angels and what they're gonna do with it. By your local akuneko brainrot patient (me). The bonus points aren't really counted.
The types of weapon listed here are unofficial and merely what I think they are.
I'm pretty sure the weapons aren't scaled in actual size in the pictures because Lucas's scythe definitely looks bigger in-game and Lato's daggers aren't that big.
Tumblr media
Daggers/Combat knives
I was searching for materials regarding why daggers over swords for research purposes, but then I remembered Lato uses daggers too. Daggers are so cool.
It's lighter than swords and should increase his agility
And it has holes, holes on blades to reduce weight (usually) so further increase in agility
It's perfect for stabbing and easy to carry
Maybe he can throw it because he has multiple. Requires mad skills tho
The hilt makes it look like a trench knife (maybe it is, idk)
It mainly stabs. Too short for fatally slashing (different story if he wanna torture or something) What he gonna do, stabs angels eyes? Actually do angels have the same vitals as humans? Then he can just stab their hearts
Generally lower damage and shorter range than swords
I wish the blades were serrated to make it cooler (+ easier to tear off limbs)
7/10 +3 from being cool
Tumblr media
Double-bladed polearm
Looks graceful to me. Polearms aren't for throwing because they're longer and heavier than spears.
With blades like that I think Berrien can use it for stabbing, except with more force because of the momentum
Looks like it can slash too but I don't think it's effective. It may be a quick attack but it needs space to do a rotation. Maybe it'll do well when surrounded by angels and that's when double blades come into action, he only needs half of the rotation, maybe less if there are many angels but not enough damage Imo
It definitely has long range
The long shaft can drive away things, defend, and maybe for bludgeoning too just like what a metal pipe would do *insert falling pipe mp3 here*
Hard to use in a cramped space
Double blades like that is actually quite heavy, and he should be rotating/thrusting that around
Actually would get Berrien in big trouble if an angel closing in
8/10 it's good. I like how he stores it under his bed
Tumblr media
Double Ax/Labrys
Practically, the point of Double Ax is so that the blades can have different degrees of sharpness. Lumberjacks can use one side for felling and the other for limbing. But Fennesz isn't a lumberjack so you know whose limbs,
Definitely dishes out big damage
Labrys is a symbol of power, it should looks intimidating, it sure does but I don't think angels can feel intimidated (if they feel anything at all)
There is a lot Fennesz can do with it, it's primarily for chopping/hacking but it can also do thrusting, hooking, slashing, and so on. For maximum damage he can do an overhead strike... No wait I just realized this Labrys has longer shaft than usual
Increased reach I guess
It's heavy, no matter how strong Fennesz is, it might drain his stamina
Create openings especially when gaining momentum
He'll get in big trouble too if an angel closing in
7/10 DPS enough ig, +3 for being pretty and loosely looking like a butterfly
Tumblr media
BFS
Look at that extra-broad broadsword. I wonder which one is heavier between this and the double ax
Big damage but with speed, Bastien is known for his insane speed
What else does it do other than damage…? It looks very cool I guess, like a shounen protag or Guts or Cloud
Just like usual sword it's good for stabbing, thrusting, slashing, piercing, etc but because it's wide it can be used for shield too maybe
Heavy
Despite the speed he still leaves openings and results in plot-points. What a deadly weapon
5/10 too deadly +2 for shounen
Tumblr media
Thorned/barbed whip
What was Ammon thinking when choosing this? It's less of a killing weapon and more like a torture device. Looks very aesthetic tho since it resembles a rose
Can make the opponent bleed profusely. Can angels actually die from blood loss? (Do they even have blood…?)
Long range, and can keep angels from getting closer
It's noisy so it can intimidate & scare things away. Again, if they can even be scared at all
Fictionally it can be used to tangle, trip, or holding enemies in place ala Indiana Jones with his bullwhip (requires mad skills)
It barely does any fatal damage
Difficult to control/aim
With it barbed, it's more likely to cause accidental self-injury. Or injures companions. Unless he's really really skilled… Well, I sure hope he doesn't train often. *Insert uncanny mr incredible png*
Then again it would be difficult to not harm any companions in a cramped place
It can't do any slashing, thrusting, hooking, or literally other type of attack, it mostly whips
Also would get in trouble if an angel closing in
4/10 it's cool but impractical, +3 for being pretty
You know what, I know way too little about angels or maybe I just don't remember
Maybe to be continued in part 2
I started writing this for no reason so yeah why not post it.

Neo Edo magnetic "holsters"
so today/yesterday I started thinking....
what a cool detail the magnetic "holsters" - knobs and stripes are. A very unique design idea for the setting they went with (basically energy-punk or a kind of close-futuristic sci-fantasy)
for example, Gen has large magnet strips on his back, but also on the front of his vest?
Tumblr media
The back strips are bigger, while the front strips I'm not entirely sure about, but they are slightly smaller and thinner, so it could be that they are something else, like pockets.
Chizu's appears to have dual magnetic strips on both her pants, her jacket lapels at the bottom, as well as a bigger/stronger magnet triangle on her back, assuming for her polearm, then later for her bow. The strips on her pants could also be just re-enforcing
Tumblr media
The other Neko Ninja also appear to have magnets on their armor's backs and hip-pieces. (more longer images under cut)
Tumblr media
Kitsune does not appear to have any magnets on her body? but she has a belt which she has a small pouch on and her belt goes around enough times that it could be easy to store her first set of tessen on her back.
Tumblr media
Usagi's are small magnets on his obi, both the yoyo and sword have space to fit, one on either side. The sword is always on the left side, so that Usagi can draw it fast enough with his right hand without hurting himself by accident (at least, according to how sword-carrying became tradition during the Edo-era, the show is fairly consistent about this way the swords are carried)
Tumblr media
From the first episode with Usagi, we see that the magnets appear to be strong enough that they lock onto the metal of the weapon long enough that the user can remove their fingers from holding the weapon.
Tumblr media
and with the yoyo:
Tumblr media
Overall, it's a super-interesting feature in the city! Other characters also have these magnets on their outfits/armor - you can pause any shot and see that characters have something magnetic/metallic on their body, with (I think) the exception of Karasu-Tengu and auntie, and the regular citizens of Neo Edo. So here for example the Keisatsu and Lord Kogane.
Tumblr media
Most notably, one of the keisatsu guarding Usagi in ep 102, a set of keys dangles from it and we later find out it's this keisatsu's apartment keys haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Usagi waits and holds to test the magnet on his left side when he is holstering his auntie's sword, and we see that the effect is quite strong. But then in ep 2, he just slaps the yoyo onto his other side un-ceremoniously, even though this one is directly given to him by a magic stone haha xD You'll notice how Usagi's magnets have some sort of inset inlay, and a glowing symbol inside it which appears to be his clan emblem. Perhaps this means that his obi, or the magnet inlays were once commissioned for one of his ancestors? Since auntie does not appear to wear one of these, maybe it was a direct heirloom to Usagi from one of his parents? Or maybe it was something specially made for when Usagi was a bit older? Could even be that Auntie had it made for one of Usagi's birthdays (good source of a fanfic plot hehe). The magnets are also shown to always glow purple, like the Ki-Stone, and so is Usagi's yoyo itself, when activating any of its abilities, but in this case, the lines on the two sides of the yoyo glow just like the inset on Usagi's weapon-holster magnets.
Tumblr media
For other fighter groups in the series, the Mogura crew don't seem to use any visible(?) weapons, while the Bat Squadron have switchblades on the top of their wings/fingers(?), while on their backs they have parachute backpacks. The Neko Ninja appear to have no visible magnets, but possibly their entire armor has hidden magnets within? just a theory for now.
Tumblr media
Now, while Usagi's obi and its magnets seem to be custom, could the rest of Usagi's outfit be too? possibly. It seems to be a very specifc combination of both samurai, ninja and farmer outfits, as well as practical application of what samurai used to travel lighter while staying protected. First of all, his vest is a kind of deep blue which according to some historic records, is hemophilic? meaning, it can hold in blood if the wearer is struck suddenly, and according to older beliefs, it even had some healing properties. The vest is tied together by the obi, and the shoulder-gaps/edges appear to have either wooden or leather guards attached to the vest, enforced by these peculiar rectangular (i've seen this kind of work before in woodwork workshops but cannot remember the exact name) Under this vest, he appears to have a light leather or wood breastplate for protectin and under this in turn, he has a dark blue/black undershirt. His pants appear to be in two parts. The first part being the dark blue pants he wears, and the second a patterned "pants cover" which attaches to his chest guard or armor under the vest via light blue clasps. [edit: 10.10.2023:] Still looking around for the basis of this, but this appears similar to some pants I've seen irl. This cover and the pants both seem to be either tucked into or covered by the leg guards Usagi wears. [end edit] Whatever 3rd undergarment he has connects with the blue sleeves he has, which are tied with strings similar to his auntie's sleeves, but these strings are only drawn and animated in the 2D sequences (for the sake of simpler animation, it seems, since Usagi appears in so many scenes and has many moving parts) Then he has dark blue arm guards and kneeguards, while the boot part of his shoes seem to be some harder leather or other material. Usagi, because of wanting to follow in the steps of his samurai ancestor, does not have any other magnetic holsters on his body.
Chizu and Gen also seem to have customized magnets, but of a different appearance. First of all obviously, their shape is rectangular longer or shorter strips, without inlays or emblems, and Chizu has her back-triangle magnet.
I've sometimes also wondered if Gen's emblem is also a magnet, tho this is less likely... The rest of his outfit is fashioned to protect his body enough to also be mobile. So his back magnet-strips are way larger and fit nicely there, enough for his kanabo to attach comfortably to it without falling off. He has a lighter and thinner looking metal plate over his chest, which is obviously armor with a dipping neckline which is colored a golden/bronze? while the bottom part is a deep indigo, covered with studs. Traditionally what these kinds of studs do, is that if someone hits you in the stomach area (one of the most vulnerable areas in an armed fight), the metal studs set in the plate should deflect metal weapon blows to the stomach. so that's interesting to see, Gen's outfit is very practical and he is obviously a bounty hunter who has been doing the job for a while, evidenced also by Gen's healed-over facial scars. A purple vest with a higher collar covers this armor partly. The vest is patterned with these outlined hexagons which have a smaller hexagon inside them. The sleeves of this vest are puffed up(?) and either tied to his arms or it's a rubber band inside the fabric of the light magenta strip of his sleeve. I cannot see that he has any magnets on his belt, which is otherwise tied around the latter-bottom part of his armor and pants. The armor near the belt and on the stomach bends upwards in a semi-trapeze shape toward the dipping neckline of the upper part of his armor. His shoulder pads, kneepads and armguards appear to be enforced leather. I can't remember the exact term for this, but you see that the shoulder parts have stronger leather strings going through the inner parts, possibly to strengthen the rest of the pads. His warclubs sit comfortably on his back on the larger magnet strips.
Chizu's outfit is obviously made for blending in as a civilian, while retaining mobility and flexibility as a ninja, so it's not metal/hard armor like the other Neko Ninja - but instead seems to be wooden/light armor made to look like the shapes on the shirts of other (the dipping rectangle), and undergarment (black) + red and black leather vest and pants. The strips blend in nicely with this sort of outfit, while also allowing Chizu to have many weapons besides the hidden ones she has, the ninja stars and the small crossbow in her gauntlets/hand guards. Chizu's back-magnet triangle meanwhile fits her outfit style exactly, with a black inlay and golden-color outer rim, sort of like Usagi's magnet, but with no inset. Perhaps it's not a magnet at all then? But it sorta makse sense to be a magnet still. In ep 2, she brings her collapsible naginata along and sets it on her back. So this is a running design element amont the characters of Neo Edo that they carry their weapons on these magnetic shapes - strips, circlets, triangles, etc
Tumblr media
Kitsune has a very straight-forward outfit. She presents herself as an ordinary street performer while also stealing during her performances, skillfully enough that she doesn't need a helping hand in this. Her outfit consists of mostly greens, teals and on the leaf-prints of her kimono vest, we see that she has maple-leaf patterns in beige, orance and yellow tones, in homage to her namesake and inspiration, the Kitsune in the Usagi Yojimbo comics. Her belt goes around her waist 2 times, while the 3rd time sits more loosely around her left hip, carrying her leather pouch, possibly from weight, but also comfort. compared to the previous two, Kitsune's outfit seems less about hiding or being openly her profession and more about her feeling comfortable, being herself. This is also why she has different bracelets and bangles on her writsts. As with Usagi and Chizu, her clothings are closed in the traditional kimono 'y' shape, left over right side, but while Usagi has only his vest over his armor and undershirt, and Chizu's is just her undershirt, for Kitsune she has both a vest and dark green undershirt, meaning that she appears more casual and layered. Possibly, because of living on the streets, she is ready for any weather and these clothes might have more other practical applications. But also likely, she just feels comfortable in these warm clothes. It is spring after all at the start of the series (exactly the same day it aired, April 28th), so possibly the air is more brisk and Kitsune has kept this look for just a while. All this is more observation + fantheory, but otherwise, there seem to be no metal or magnetic parts on her body. She does not focus on fighting as much as the others and her modus operandi in fights seems to more self-defense, which is what her battle fans are meant for, a self-defense weapon. It's possible she could have hiding places on her open-toed boots for smaller weapons, but then again, I do not believe we've seen them used as such in the show.
Now I wonder how these magnet strips are produced and made at all... do they use the Ki-Stone to magnetize strips of metal somehow? There are many methods to make magnets irl, so I wonder which ones were used here to achieve this strong magnet effect together with the rest of the Ki-Stone's effects...
Anyway, this isn't a deep-dive about clothing, I just wanted to shortly write about the interesting element of magnet wepon-holders, because these seem a ki-stone specific magic/science, but I got a bit lengthy about the clothings anyway bc I like this show ^^

Bro, you don't understand the amount of brainrot you gave me from your HSR × GI crossover fic.
Cause like any generic person scrolling through the Yandere HSR tag, I came across your concept and was like, "Wow, that's cool!" It's not really common to see crossover fics between two of my favorite games, so I jumped at the chance and devoured your concept like my life depended on it. (I've already re-read it a few times since then 💀)
And your fic has taught me one thing about myself that I hadn't known prior to reading your concept...
I think I might have an addiction to angst 🤧
If ya wanna read my angsty thoughts, here they are:
When I first read your fic (or concept), I defaulted to a human reader, but then I was like, what about an immortal reader? (I.E. Adepti)
Cause here me out, the archon war was a devastating event, and during that time, it was kill or be killed. And if the reader (or darling) was present during that time, then they have most definitely experienced great loss watching as the friends they've known for so long dissappear from view and even after the war they still experience losses from the mortals they've grown close with when traversing across the nations.
And, of course, they end up in the HSR-verse, which is exceptionally cruel cause not only have they lost all their current friends but also getting forcefully ripped apart from their home.
Then, of course, they were found by Himeko and Welt, then brought the reader aboard the Astral express, and the rest is history within your concept.
Isn't it just cruel that the people you thought were your friends suddenly turned their back to your desires of going back to your homeland? 🥺
Anyway, Poll time:
I don't believe this is really important to add on, but it's an FYI... kinda... but I ended up choosing cryo (really hard choice between cryo and anemo, but Ganyu and Shenhe pulled me through on this one), and for the weapon, I didn't really know what to pick so I ended up picking polearm cause... Shenhe and Dan Heng...
What do you take away/gain from this?:
Absolutely nothing 💯💯💯💯💯 (I think)
What did I learn?:
Apparently, my first language wasn't Spanish, but actually, pain and suffering. 💀
What did I gain from this?:
My thoughts have been let free, and finally, my brain can (hopefully) turn off for a moment. (This can't happen. I get brainrots at 2am.)
Also, another fanfic writer who actually writes for my special interest (I.E. Spiderverse, Demon Slayer, TLOU)
That's all, I'm out!
- uhhhhhh, idk what I should sign with...
Number one, I’m super happy that you enjoyed the concept. Honestly when I released it I didn’t think people would enjoy it because how different both the games are, so I’m happy to see that people like it.
Number two, I do agree that reader being immortal would be really interesting. For the series, reader is going to stay human, but I do like the idea of reader being an Adeptis. Imagine the reader filled with guilt over the loss of their friends, attempting to protect their new ones even if it means their life. They’d feel as though it’s the only thing they can do to pay them back for helping them adapt to this strange world. Is definitely an interesting ideas.
(Also, if I’m being honest, I voted myself for Dendro and Claymore because they’re my favorites. But don’t let that sway your votes. I’m really interested in what the results will be).

I'm just.
I'm sorry, I'm a bit disappointed we can't use a staff 😩 I mean, MC's a Mage, it makes sense to strap a badass staff to your back with a blade on one/both ends or smth. Not that I'm gonna complain but just wanted to ask if that's something you'd consider adding? 🤔
My headcannon is my MC's staff has one blade and can change into one of many rings covering her fingers to be as inconspicuous as possible. Idk if you've played dragon age 2? Yeah, MC's super hot 😩😩😩
Sorry that you're disappointed! I won't be adding more weapons types to the game, as the amount of branching that already exists (heritage + specialization + education + weapon) is the max I'm willing to handle as a solo developer. I also don't really think staffs with blades on one or both ends really exist as common weapons in Blest--the closest I'm thinking is a spear or polearm? Mages in Blest also don't typically use/need staffs to work their magic, so they're no more likely to carry them as weapons than any other person, really. But that's a cool headcanon for your MC! Hope that all makes sense! :)

What is your favorite kind of melee weapon?
Oh for sure polearms, spears are imo one of the most underrated weapons out there, especially in fiction. they're cool, they're versatile, they'll fuck up you and your stupid horse, they'll help you seek vengance on the white whale, you can cross them in front of doors that nosy adventurers are trying to get into. I dont really have an answer more specific than that, I just think spears are neat.

I saw that you’ve been looking at Genshin but consider this. RvB/Genshin crossover. Please assign everyone a region (to the best of your ability since we’re still in the dark with 2 of the regions) and vision. For science.
HELLO i have literally thought about this so much. okay not actually that much but I have assigned everyone to elements/nations/weapons a few times in my head bc i love making lists. some of them i have like no comments on though. i also have a couple genshin headcanons for some of them and how I think they'd fit into the world. everything under the cut bc this will probably be a lot and also very rambly (ty for giving me an excuse to share this)
quick notes:
most of these are just based off vibes lol. if there's a specific reason behind assigning someone a certain element/weapon/nation i'll specify why. some of these are very vague lol
feel free to add your own interpretation/ideas i love hearing other perspectives
tried making the different elements different colors but tumblr has limited selection :(
i have no fucking clue how the church family works in a modern/not rvb setting 😭😭
okay here we go
Tucker: Anemo Catalyst
i know he seems like a sword user but hear me out: he makes blades of anemo like his energy sword (kinda like childe's hydro blades, but as a melee anemo catalyst user)
I.. have no idea what nation he'd be from. originally i put him as being from natlan because of the vague idea of him being a warrior or something, but i've actually got no clue other than that 😭
i think he's travelling throughout teyvat and taking on commissions as he goes. probably well known by the adventurer's guild
Church: Cryo Catalyst, Mondstadt
cryo fits so well to me. especially bc most cryo characters have themes of isolation/loneliness/or family issues (same reasons why i assigned cryo to carolina as well)
Caboose: Hydro Claymore, Sumeru
blue and strong. also hydro as a concept fits him in my mind.
Carolina: Cryo Polearm, Mondstadt
carolina and wash are siblings in my AU 👍
her and wash both joined the knights of favonius (KOF) at the same time, though carolina ended up leaving later to decide her own path (probably had something to do with her mother's death also. i think maybe she wanted to find out more about it / or didn't believe she was actually dead and wanted to search for her)
assigned her as a polearm user bc in rvb i headcanon her as knowing how to fight with a bo staff. and assigned her cryo for reasons stated before ^^
Wash: Geo Sword, Mondstadt
the other element i'd assign him to would be anemo, specifically wash post-pfl. but ive put him as geo here bc 1. yellow. and 2. he's a sort of grounding presence around the others and that fits geo to me
Tex: Electro Claymore, Snezhnaya
from snezhnaya originally but moved to mondstadt at some point, which is where she met church.
in this AU i think she's gone missing or tends to travel a lot without telling anyone, so the others are just kinda waiting for her to come back.
i think i assigned her as electro bc i associated it with omega (purple). also it looks cool so
Doc: Dendro Catalyst, Sumeru
dendro's generally associated with knowledge or personal growth and i think that fits for him. he's a catalyst bc i can't imagine doc picking up any weapon other than a rocket launcher as o'malley
Sarge: Pyro Catalyst, Liyue
i don't know why sarge is one of the characters i can most easily imagine in the genshin world but he is. (along w lina and wash)
the liyue qixing has personally banned him from using fireworks. he got a little too enthusiastic about helping with the fireworks display at lantern rite..
catalyst user bc i think he throws explosives (like klee) though i can see him as a claymore user as well.
Donut: Anemo Bow, Liyue
i feel like anemo fits him. idk something something freedom to be himself and express himself how he likes
Grif: Geo Claymore, Sumeru
geo is. grounding. and he's chill. idk it works in my head.
Simmons: Hydro Bow, Fontaine
Tried to get into the Sumeru Akademiya but had his application rejected, then went on to travel to Liyue to pursue his own studies which is where he met Sarge and Donut for the first time
Lopez: ......Khaenri'ah?
Built by Sarge out of scrap ruin machine parts that he found out by some ruins. doesn't have a vision, though I think he fights using pyrotechnics or just, pyro.
Locus: Dendro Claymore, Sumeru
former corrupt mercenary, now trying to be a better person. i think he would've gotten his vision after his redemption arc and to him it symbolizes a new start.
BONUS!! freelancers & co:
North: Hydro Bow, Snezhnaya
i think he and south could both be orphans of the house of hearth or something. maybe they escaped from the fatui at some point (or maybe the freelancers *are* the fatui. theres another au i was thinking of similar to that but its very vague)
South: Electro Sword, Snezhnaya
she's soo electro to me. purple lightning fuck yeah
Wyoming: Cryo Bow, Fontaine
bow because he's a sniper. fontaine because he's british. not much to say here
Florida: Hydro Polearm, Inazuma
Maine: Pyro Claymore, Natlan
CT: Pyro Polearm, Natlan
479er: Anemo Catalyst
anemo bc she's a pilot. yeah
Felix: Pyro Sword, Inazuma
i personally think felix would use a delusion rather than a vision. especially because delusions are like a form of "false" power like power that's created rather than gifted by the gods like a vision is. he wants a vision soo badly but he was never given one so he had to use a delusion to feel powerful, and even then he's being actively harmed every time he uses it bc of how delusions drain their user's life force. could be poetic but im shit at wording it lol
Kimball: Hydro Sword, Sumeru
Doyle: Geo Catalyst, Fontaine
