All's Fair In Love & War- Nobunaga Epilogue
Epilogue
It had been some time since the Hono-ji incident. There had been a few territories try to rebel, but Nobunaga quashed those rebellions soundly. Sometimes just himself and his troops, but other times he would bring me along. It truly depended on what the situation needed. We were still waiting for Kennyo or the Uesugi-Takeda Alliance to make a move, but so far everything was quiet once we had stopped those small rebellions.
I had been away from my territory too long and it was time that I returned. Nobunaga true to his word, came with me. Jiro and Sato, accompanied me of course. Hideyoshi, Mitsuhide, and Masamune came with us as well, leaving Mitsunari and Ieyasu to keep watch over Azuchi.
“We’re going to have to figure out exactly how we are going to be splitting our time.” I said to Nobunaga as we rode beside each other.
He grinned at me. “Yes, we’ll have to work that out. But for now we’ll just go as we are needed.”
I couldn’t help the happy smile that came to my face. We truly were a couple, figuring out how things were going to work. Though it was a little more complicated than a simple your place or mine situation, given that we were both daimyo…but thankfully we had supportive vassals who could look after things in our stead while one of us was staying in the other’s territory.
“The bigger issue will come once we’ve accomplished your goal of uniting the country, Lord Nobunaga.” Sato said.
“I think that is more easily solvable.” Nobunaga replied.
I gave him a look. “How so?” I asked.
“I have always planned on building a new castle to rule from anyways. We’ll just have to live there.” He answered, giving me a roguish grin that made my heart pound in my chest.
“You really do want me to rule the world at your side then?” I replied.
Nobunaga reached over, his hand taking mine even as we continued to ride through the plains. He brought my hand to his lips. “I was not just spouting useless words. I do not say things I do not mean.”
I felt my cheeks flushing a bit, though a smile was on my lips. Though I knew Nobunaga meant his words… it was still hard to get used to. Most men that I had met here…they only wanted me to get my power. “I know…just takes some getting used to.”
“I will find a way to assure you that I mean what I say.” He told me.
“I would have thought them being on separate horses would solve some of their flirting.” Jiro commented.
“It’s truly like the rest of us aren’t even here.” Hideyoshi agreed.
“I think it’s sweet.” Sato said, grinning. “Besides, just look how happy they are.”
“And would either of you ever truly object to anything that makes your lords happy just because it doesn’t seem…appropriate to you two?” Mitsuhide added, his tone teasingly challenging.
After traveling for three days, we finally arrived at my territory. When we arrived to my castle, Kei was greeting us. “Welcome home, my lord.” She said. “And welcome to our guests.” She bowed to each of them in turn.
Other attendants were coming up to lead the others to their guest rooms, while Kei looked at me expectantly. “Is there already work?” I asked. “Jiro and Sato kept me updated on things and we had a system in place…”
“We just have to discuss preparations for the banquet, my lord.” Kei answered.
“A banquet?” Nobunaga asked.
“What are we celebrating? And I am more than happy to cook up the food.” Masamune said, grinning.
I wracked my brain for what the banquet could be for. “What are…”
“Did you really lose track of the date, my lord?” Jiro asked me.
I looked at him and then I let out a groan. “Dammit…”
“What is it?” Nobunaga asked.
“Nothing important and I still don’t understand why all of you insist on this stupid tradition…” I answered and then looked at my vassals and my aid.
“It’s her birthday.” Sato said, grinning.
“Your birthday?” Nobunaga asked. “That seems a perfect cause for celebration.”
“Well, it’s not really my birthday…or at least not the day I was born.” I said. “It’s the day I was officially adopted into the Yamada clan.”
“Still, it’s a day worth celebrating.” Nobunaga replied, his arm coming around my waist.
“You know your mother and father always loved celebrating it.” Jiro pointed out.
“Yeah and I loved it then too.” I replied. “But now…”
“We have also gotten word that some of the guests have already started to arrive.” Kei said. “Some are requesting an early audience with you as soon as possible, my lord.”
“Dammit.” I groaned, knowing exactly what it meant.
“You know it’s not that big of a deal.” Jiro said.
“It’s exhausting.” I replied.
“It’s only customary to receive tributes as a lord on your birthday.” Hideyoshi pointed out.
I sighed. “Alright, Kei let’s go.” I said. I gave Nobunaga a quick kiss. “I’ll see you later.”
Nobunaga watched Ava walk off with her aid. He wondered exactly what she found so exhausting about receiving tributes for her birthday…or adoption day in this case. Most of the others had already gone off, but Sato was still in the hall with him.
“You wanna know about it?” Sato asked, grinning.
Nobunaga looked at her. “You know why she dreads this?”
Sato nodded. “Follow me, my lord.” She said, gesturing for Nobunaga to follow her to a storage room deep within the castle. She slid open the door. “Here are all of the tributes she has received over the years.”
Nobunaga walked into the room and looked around. He took all of the gifts, noticing various trinkets and items…some clothes. He noticed a theme amongst all of these gifts. “They all have family crests on them…and none of them are the Yamada crest.” He noted.
“All of those tributes came from various men, second sons typically or the occasional warlord who wants to expand his own forces.” Sato explained. “Each gift has come with a marriage proposal.”
“I see.” Nobunaga replied. “So, these guests that are arriving, they are all men who will be bringing such gifts and marriage proposals?”
Sato nodded. “Yes, and that is exactly why Lord Ava finds it exhausting.”
A plan began to form in Nobunaga’s mind. “Sato, would you be able to show me to one of your most skilled tailors?”
Sato smiled. “Of course, my lord.”
A few days later…
It was finally the day of my “birthday” banquet. I had been dealing with a handful of visitors a day, bringing me gifts and their stupid proposals. The only thing that made it all bearable was getting to spend my nights with Nobunaga. After the hard days, spending time in his warm embrace was truly peaceful and relaxing.
I dressed for the banquet, putting on my finest robes and Sato helping me to style my hair and put on a bit of makeup. “You know, I hope once all of the guests see Nobunaga sitting beside me, they’ll back off.” I said.
“I am sure.” Sato replied. “If they’re smart they’ll be intimidated by Lord Nobunaga. Even though they really should be just as intimidated by you.”
“I am probably less patient with them and would be more likely to run them through.” I replied.
Once we had finished getting ready, we were heading to the banquet hall. Everyone was gathered there… though the seat that was beside mine, reserved for Nobunaga was curiously empty. As I walked past Hideyoshi I looked at him. He looked a bit guilty of something, but nodded.
“Lord Nobunaga said he would be running just a bit late.” He whispered to me. “But he swore he would be here.”
I nodded but frowned despite myself. I was really hoping that he would be here already. I composed myself and made my way over to my seat. I looked around the room, noticing all of my guests…thankful that at least Iksu wasn’t here.
“Thank you all for coming to celebrate my birthday.” I announced. “Now please enjoy the food and drink.”
The banquet began and soon, the guests started to get up to come before me and present their gifts. A string of men with gifts containing their family crests and offering marriage proposals. Lord Isamu, one of the few landed lords, was bowing before me and presenting his gift. It was a pretty kimono that was in the colors of his clan and had his family crest on the back.
“Lord Ava, please accept my gift and consider my humble gift and consider joining your forces and clan with mine, as my wife.”
I fought off a sigh. “I appreciate the gift, but I must decline your proposal.” I replied.
“I beg of you to reconsider, Lord Ava. I believe we would be a good match and I could help you…” Isamu began, before being interrupted by the doors at the back of the room sliding open and Nobunaga striding in. He wore his confident smirk and carried a parcel in his hands.
“Step aside.” Nobunaga said to Isamu.
Isamu’s eyes widened. “L-lord Nobunaga…?”
“Good you know who I am.” Nobunaga replied. “Now step aside.”
Isamu nodded, bowed and then quickly moved out of the way.
Nobunaga smiled at me as he came to kneel down directly in front of me, which surprised me and honestly flustered me a bit. “Ava, please accept my gift.” He said, placing the parcel he held in my hands.
I untied the twine and then pulled the lid off the box. I had to fight the gasp that threatened to escape at what I saw. Slowly, I lifted a beautiful haori from the package. It was white and pink and lined with black… but what stood out more was the crest on the back. One half of the crest was the Oda crest and the other half was the Yamada crest. They were of equal size and quality. It looked beautiful and what it all meant.
“Ava.” Nobunaga said my name so tenderly, causing me to look up at him. Then in a louder clearer voice, he spoke. “I will never ask you to be anyone other than who you are. You are a fiery, confident, and capable woman and warrior, and wise leader of your clan and your people. I will never ask you to be less than that. I want you at my side just as you are. I want you as my partner and my equal and I will accept nothing less. Rule at my side and continue to be the remarkable woman you are.”
My heart was pounding in my chest and I could feel tears stinging at my eyes. I wanted nothing more than to fling my arms around this man…this truly amazing man who really did mean every word he said. But I knew I couldn’t do that…at least right now. I smiled at him. “I accept your gift, Nobunaga and your offer. I will have no other man at my side but you.”
The other men in the room were all murmuring amongst themselves, but I didn’t care about them. Nobunaga was moving to sit beside me even as they all murmured, his arm coming around my waist. “I am glad you accept.” He said, placing a gentle kiss on my lips.
After the party, Nobunaga and I were in my room. I had put on the haori. “You made quite the show.” I said to him.
“That was part of the point.” Nobunaga replied, his hand coming up to stroke my cheek. “I had to make sure all of those fools know you are too good for them and that there is only one man to stand beside you.”
“What was the other part of the point?” I asked.
Nobunaga’s smile was tender. “To make sure you know that I want you at my side as my equal.” He told me, calling back to our conversation on the way here.
I smiled up at him, leaning into his touch. “I know…I’ve no doubts.”
“Good.” Nobunaga replied, pulling me closer. “I love you, Ava. You are my fireball and I want you by my side always and I will never ask you to change or step back.”
“I love you, Nobunaga.” I replied. “I love you for everything you are and I am happy to spend the rest of my life at your side and with you at mine.”
Our lips were soon meeting in a kiss that quickly became passionate. We sank to the floor together, our hands starting to undo the ties of each other’s clothes. When we broke the kiss, Nobunaga was giving me a devilish grin. “This haori looks wonderful on you. It’s a shame to take it off.”
I grinned at him. “Who says that it has to come off?” I replied. “We could remove everything except the haori.”
Nobunaga grinned. “I think that is a most excellent idea.”
It was moments later, I was down to wearing nothing but the haori Nobunaga had gifted me. His eyes took in my form even as his fingertips reached inside to trace over my bare flesh. We kissed and caressed each other, expressing our love and devotion to each other.
“I love you, Nobunaga.” I gasped out as our bodies slowly melded together, arms wrapping around each other.
“I love you, Ava.” Nobunaga replied, his eyes warm with pleasure, love, and desire.
We spent the night showering each other in love and proving our devotion in the way that words couldn’t. This was real and true love. We were two people who shared so much and loved each other as we were. This was a once in a lifetime love and I knew we would spend the rest of our lives seeing our dreams come true together. It wouldn’t always be easy, but we would have each other and we would be partners in all things.
This love would last a lifetime and more.
Finished...I hope you have all enjoyed this! I do plan to write a sequel to this after I write a few other warlords. I hope you've enjoyed this ride as much as I have and I look forward to writing more of warlord Ava!

Hyper Battle DVD - Kamen Rider Geats.
The DGP can just force them into whatever outfits huh?
They say Ace is really good at dancing... but a lot of those shots were definitely not Kan Hideyoshi :p
Michinaga dancing with a scowl makes everything infinitely funnier.,
Keiwa’s outfit is kinda complete with the hat but I love how committed he is to the cat aesthetic that he wore cat paws and headband.
Michinaga and Keiwa shots did not pan away from their faces lol.
Keiwa asking for the schedule of the DGP is so funny because Tsumuri and Neon were thinking it was a love confession.
And now the realization that Keiwa might have the same fate as Ace’s father tho...
Oh so Sara was right, it is Buffalo. He is Kamen Rider Buffalo lol.
“Isn’t it better than Ginpen?” loool Tsumuri!
He thinks Tycoon, Na-Go, and Geats are all so clever.
He thinks that Geats is the cooler name.
And of course Keiwa is out, we’ve seen him in a jail cell.
Transforming to get the donuts.
Buffa vs. Ouja (unrealistic because Lo won lol)
The way he got the Ouja Buckle is hella hilarious too.
Dammit, I want to see Tycoon Ryuki form now!!!
And Ryuki vs. Ouja is underway...
Michinaga won lol
but it was all a dream. So to summarize
So he thinks Keiwa is cute
Tsumuri has a crush on Keiwa
He thinks that the DGP can force them into various clothes.
He thinks that all the Rider names are cooler than his, with Geats being the coolest.
He thinks he can win against Ouja, which is his ideal world lol.
And I love them dancing at the end.

I still find it utterly hilarious that Hideyoshi is the contact person who’s writing back and forth with the Mouri people. Like, if you really think about it that makes a lot of sense, but THIS IS BREAKING NEWS INFO that wasn’t widely known for decades despite all those manga and novels making such a big fuss over Hideyoshi’s Chuugoku missions. This fact really can and will change a lot of how you perceive and interpret how things work in that time.
No wonder Hideyoshi was the commander sent to the Mouri territories once Nobu started fighting them in earnest. Hideyoshi is probably the one who’d be most familiar with the people there and/or the territory. Like, if he can negotiate that’d be great, but if not he’s better suited to steamroll them. There’s an unverified claim floating around that says he’s actually been out there as a friend to the Mouri once, back before the friendship/alliance fell apart. So, you know. He’d know the terrain.
One of the letters was this weird pirate issue in Sakai I think? Or was it Tanba... Anyway the Mouri letters didn’t survive, but from the replies it was implied that the Mouri people reported it to Hideyoshi because they acknowledge whatever the place was as “Oda turf” so they don’t want to cause trouble in someone else’s territory.
(”pirates” complaining about other pirates is funny, but to be fair, the Mouri’s seafaring troops/navy aren’t exactly “pirates” so)
Hideyoshi’s response was something to the effect of “Yeah, we know. We’ll take care of it soon.” And the person who posted the letter said “he sounds irritated”, like it has the tone of “I already told you this last time, dammit, stop pestering me about the same thing multiple times”. Might be that in that time Nobu was tangled up with the Azai Asakura problem and wasn’t able to properly clean up the pirate thing so the Mouri side was anxious.
I wanna know more, but this was posted just in bits and pieces in articles and I don’t know if the full bulk of letters are available to read, or if I actually need to phone the history archive and ask for them (I can’t do that OTL).

SLBP x FGO AU??
hear me out guys. slbp lords as fate servants fellow fgo players where y'all at -eye emoji- I came up with this like 4 months ago and suddenly remembered it while brushing my teeth this morning so here we go this is the crossover event that no one asked for but we all deserve it.
I've only thought about their servant classes, but I had a lot of fun with it so there'll be more to come soon I've just been really busy for the past few weeks :( under a read more bc it got very long
(this is purely based on SLBP's depictions of them!)
Nobunaga — Ruler
Well I can't choose Archer for obvious reasons dammit. I know he isn't fair and etc like a Ruler normally is, but I thought it would be interesting because in SLBP he is shown to be a good lord who cares about the people below him and wants to change things for the better so that works I guess? And also imagine his ascension in FGO where he could go from either his act 1 self to his unification self or the other way round depending on how you want to depict him. interesting.
Mitsuhide — Caster or Saber
Mostly because I didn't really see him fitting into the other classes? but I feel like in a HGW he could still fight pretty well but he'd be more of a strategist type of servant.
Yukimura — Berserker
I was gonna go with Lancer at first because he has a big spear of his skill with a spear. But the story does mention that all his talk of dying in battle with honour etc is very excessive, and even makes other characters question his sanity. Berserker would also be a great fit for him because he would do anything to train and get stronger, and he would unhesitatingly give up his life for his lord, Shingen who he is almost blindly loyal to.
Saizo — Assassin
Pretty obvious choice, no comment.
Masamune — Saber
I didn't know where else he fits, and he is also mentioned to be a master of mine-uchi, a supposedly very difficult katana technique. Well he is good at a bunch of things in the story, but I think he'd fit best in Saber class <3
Kojuro — Saber
I feel like he could be a Caster as well, but he's the one who taught Masa all those sword techniques so I guess it made sense to have him here.
Inuchiyo — Lancer or Berserker
Because he uses his spear a lot ofc. And he is pretty reckless but he's also really strong like most Berserkers.
Ieyasu — Archer
I'm just gonna go with archer because I see his in game sprite has a bow. I think he could fit into assassin class but idk.
Mitsunari — Caster
He would be a great caster, but probably a pain to work with at first if you're not Hideyoshi.
Hideyoshi — Ruler
Because he definitely seems like one, personality-wise. I can really see him being the ruler in a HGW hehe
Shingen — Rider
An obvious choice because he's great at horse riding and he has the best cavalry in the land. He could fit into all the other normal classes except for caster and assassin but I needed some variety. Plus imagine him hanging out with all the other really cool riders like Drake hehehehe they would be good friends. also imagine him with his horse Kurokumo in his NP hnnngggg
Kenshin — Berserker
he could fit into most of the classes but I think this one kinda fits his reputation as the god of war. plus it would be interesting bc he does not look like a berserker at all. also bc he literally goes mad when he sees nice things and he will bring them home and no one can stop him (he is so relatable). he is so chaotic but we all love him. ALSO this means that he and Shingen will have a class advantage over each other HUHuHUHU so they will keep fighting each other and none really has the upper hand over the other; they will still remain rivals even as servants.
Shigezane — Saber
I don't know where else he'd fit either, and it just felt right to put him here idk.
I don't really know anything about Nobuyuki soz guys
imagine Nobunaga and Kenshin meeting their fgo counterparts
sorry this ended up being so long haha but I hope y'all enjoyed it. I haven't played enough of the Shadow routes yet to write about the ninja characters tho but the time will come. I haven't played all of the lords' routes yet so tell me if I might have misinterpreted something! feel free to add on <3

It’s pretty fun seeing these two in the BE. I wonder if they’re gonna get an MS or something.
I don’t know much about Kiyomasa other than his bits in Hideyoshi’s events and stuff. And then there was Mitsunari’s Act 2 which left a rough taste in my mouth (I mean, he DID apologize and all, but still, that was rough…). He seems like a funny flirt with some muscle (I want his weapon!) And dammit, he’s such a cutie in this BE!
And Keiji is…well, Keiji! He’s always entertaining when he shows up. Definitely a wild card! I’m curious about his adventures. I only know him from events (I refuse to finish Inuchiyo’s MS) and not much else. I just know that when he shows up, trouble and hijinks follow too.
What do you guys think?

Celebrating MC’s Birthday:
We always have story events of MC and the other warlords celebrating each others’ birthdays but what about the warlords celebrating MC’s birthday?
Nobunaga: Alright, MC will be here in a few hours, let’s get this party started!!
Hideyoshi: Set up, Nobunaga-sama, we’re not starting without her, we’re setting it up for her.
Ieyasu: Your excitement for the party is a bit too obvious...
--
Hideyoshi: OK, it looks good but I want you to move that banner 10mm to the right.
Kenshin [mutters]: I want you to quit moving your mouth and move until you’re 10mm to the right of my sword. 凸(`△´#)
Hideyoshi: What?
Kenshin: I WANT YOU TO MOVE UNTIL YOU’RE-
--
Masamune [in the kitchen, cooking]: Mitsunari, can you pass me the salt?
Mitsunari: Sure! ^_~
Masamune: Thanks, Mitsuna- Wait. MITSUNARI?!
Ieyasu: Sorry, I accidentally let him off his leash. Also, that’s not salt. And it’s not sugar either. Don’t ask me what it is.
Masamune: God dammit.
--
Nobunaga [eating konpeito]: There’s not enough KONPEITO
Shingen [eating sweet buns]: There’s not enough SWEET BUNS
Yukimura: There’s not enough WORK BEING DONE, HELLO??
--
Kennyo: I have flowers.
Mitsuhide: Great, pass them to me. We can put them in my room, I’ve been wanting to spice up my decor.
Kennyo: Don’t you dare touch the flowers >:(
--
Kenshin: Sasuke, let us fight, the man who wins may celebrate with MC
Sasuke: Or, we could not fight and all celebrate together with MC
Kenshin: Ridiculous.
Hideyoshi: It’s what MC said she wanted.
Kenshin [puts down sword]: Okay.  (◕‿◕)
--
Shingen: What present did you get our goddess?
Kennyo: I pondered if it would be fine to get her a present. Should I lay my hands on anything, it shall wither away. What if the object, cursed by my hands, spread its disease to her unwavering purity and-
Ieyasu: Just tell us what you got her.
Kennyo: I made her a flower crown.
Misuhide [smirking]: Cute.
--
Masamune: I got her a new set of brushes so she can sketch her new haori designs!
Ieyasu: That’s such a stupid gift.
Masamune: Uh-huh, coming from the guy clutching a pink hair clip behind his back.
Ieyasu [flustered]: This! No-! This is- for... for Wasabi!!  (`ー´)
Misuhide [smirking]: So cute.
--
Nobunaga: Ninja, what did you get her?
Sasuke [winks blinks]: I got her the usual, a bag of ground spikes. These are special though, they’re reinforced. What did you get her?
Nobunaga [scoffs]: I will give her the whole of Japan.
Sasuke [sighs longingly]: I wish Nobunaga would dedicate Japan to me.
--
Yukimura: I got her a pair of socks. With the way she runs around, her socks are probably very worn out.
Sasuke: Oh, Yukimura...
Shingen: He’s got a long way to go...
--
Yukimura: What?! What did you get her, Kenshin?
Kenshin: I got her my heart.
Kenshin: *Raises sword to chest*
Yukimura: WOW WOW WOW STOP!!!
Kenshin: Just joking, I got her sake cups so she can drink with me.
--
Shingen: I’m interested in knowing what the snake got her.
Mitsuhide: If you want to know what I got her, you should tell me what you got her first.
Shingen: True. Well I got her some really high quality fabric I saw her looking at the other day.
Mitsuhide [turns away]: Okay, cool.
Shingen: ????
Shingen: You’re not gonna tell me?
Mitsuhide [holding a scarf under his coat]: Nah, it’s getting cold, I’m going inside.  ╮(︶▽︶)╭
Shingen: Rude.
--
Nobunaga: Hideyoshi, what did you get her?
Hideyoshi: Mitsunari and I got her a set. I got her earrings
Mitsunari: I got her a matching bracelet. I hope she’ll like them!
--
Kennyo: I think I hear her coming!
Nobunaga: To your positions!
Oda Forces: Yes!
Uesugi-Takeda Alliance: Don’t tell me what to-

Spying On Love - Sasuke X Reader
Inspired by the film Mr. & Ms. Smith.
This mini translation is also dedicated to @delicateikemenmemes. Have a fantastic birthday and The Miss also wishes you a happy birthday. Thank you for just being a great friend and supportive of whatever I do. I am proud to be your bread provider no matter how ridiculous your requests are. Hope you have a good one.
The fic does start with you, the reader’s POV then shifts to Sasuke’s POV
I slammed my handbag down on the kitchen counter, enraged. Kicking my black strapped heels off my ankles, I removed my studded earrings from my earlobes. Taking a seat on the high stools at the bar top, I buried myself in my arms. I groaned aloud, frustrated at my situation.
My phone buzzed in my bag; the ringtone muffled by the fabric. Zipping it open, I glanced at the caller ID. Mitsunari Ishida. Wringing my phone out of the mess of my bag's contents, I swiped the 'accept call' button, pressing the loudspeaker button as well.
Mitsunari's forever charming voice greeted me. "Hello YN-san, I called you because last week, you forgot to tell Hideyoshi if you were attending the Oda party that's in two days. Hideyoshi is currently on a trip and hasn't returned, so he told me to inform you."
Goodness, I forgot I have other things than being emotional about my empty marriage. "Um... Yes I'm coming..." I replied, exhausted from my mini tantrum earlier. From the background, you can figure out Masamune was listening in on too.
"Ah, sorry if I'm stressing you out. Today is your date with Sasuke-kun right? It ー"
"There is no date," I cut off rather rudely. "He cancelled on me last minute. Over text. Making it... about three months that we haven't had any contact with each other besides seeing each other in the house."
Masamune clicked his tongue at me. Removing all formalities, he remarked, "YN! If the husband of your keeps this up, I might go in and take you away instead. You deserve to be treated better than this!"
Beep
Beep
Hearing the familiar alarm, I quickly wrapped up my conversation. "Thank you Mitsunari and Masamune. I have to go now and I'll see you at the party." We said our goodbyes.
Responding to the alarm that interrupted my conversation, I opened my laptop that was in the living room to see that I received a profile from work and a voice message from my boss.
I decided to move my work to the bedroom. Before I began, I remembered that I shared this room with someone, seeing Sasuke's favourite jacket on the bed. Somehow, despite the room having quite romantic furnishings, it still felt like a void.
I plopped myself on the cushions that rested against the plush headboard of the king sized bed we shared. Plugging my earphones into the jack, I played the voiced message that was sent.
"YN, our new client requested for another assassination. Your target's details are in the profile as usual. However, the client's request is that the target's killing be public, meaning you don't have to start straight away. The target appears public next week. Deploy whoever you have to."
I sighed. Looks like I'll also be busy this week. And next week. Reluctantly, I opened the files attached. The AI recapped the target's files as usual, but the first thing that came to my ears made my thoughts stop.
'Target: Top Assassin of the Uesugi Faction, Bodyguard of Uesugi Kenshin; Sarutobi Sasuke… Alias: Mikumo Sasuke… Current Position: Unknown...'
Sasuke? He's my target? He... This can't be... I...
I paused the files at the ring of my phone. The caller ID was none other than my husband. I was about to decline it, but it would've seemed too suspicious to him, now knowing that he himself is a spy.
"Hello?"
"YN, I'm sorry that I had to cancel..."
I didn't let him finish. "What's new? I read the message."
"I know. But I asked the boss for tonight. I'm coming home but..."
I waited, gripping the phone anxiously.
"Let's not go out. We need to talk. About us."
He hung up. My first thoughts were to panic. Did he find out? I wallowed in my sheets, eventually drifting off to sleep after the mental stress I endured.
Mikumo Sasuke
I entered my apartment complex, not finding YN anywhere. After slipping off my shoes, I checked the bedroom we shared.
I found her unconscious form there. I worried, rushing over to her. Her chest rose and fell. I sighed in relief. Thank god they haven't gotten to her yet.
I sat on the edge of the bed, holding my head in my hands. How am I supposed to get away with this? I can't... I won't let them assassinate her. I just hope she doesn't know.
The sheets shifted, and YN rose, completely awake. I looked at her and immediately she flinched. Dammit, she knows. I can tell. And I'm sure now that she knows too.
"When were you going to tell me?" I started off. Her eyes shifted, knowing what this was about.
"When were you going tell me, Sasuke?" YN replied with venom in her voice. "Scientist my ass. You lied ー"
I got up, frustrated. "You lied too! Don't act like you're the only victim here, YN," I retorted with the same amount of malice. She was silent, keeping quiet of the situation neither of us could figure out what to do.
As for YN, flashbacks of their romantic memories flooded to her head, as well as ones that were not so unromantic. Reconciling with her senses, she slips of the delicate metal band of marriage from her finger and placed it on the bedside table next to her. She parted her lips, "Kill me."
"What?" I said out of shock.
"I said, 'Kill me.' I took off the ring so you don't have to feel so guilty anymore," she shows me her empty hand.
I pulled out the gun from my back pocket. She didn't move an inch. The poise and elegance she would always carry, even until her grave, with her hand upon the blankets so lightly.
For a moment, I hesitated. For a second, I reminded myself that she was my enemy. But... before she was my enemy, she is always my beloved wife. My... beloved wife.
"Why do you want me to kill you easily?" I enquired softly. What she said next shocked me to my core.
"We both have to kill each other, but I can't kill you. But you... you don't love me anymore so it's easier if I die."
I relaxed my grip on the handgun I held and sauntered over to the gorgeous woman across from me. "Alright then. LN YN, Oda spy and assassin extraordinaire, I will kill you."
I put the gun to the side of her head. "However," I level my eyes with hers. "Mikumo YN, why would I kill you when you are my wife?"
I snatched the ring from the table and decorated her finger with it. I kissed the back of her hand gently and YN spoke to me, dumfounded. "I thought... you were going to kill me..."  A single tear travels down her cheek.
I sat next to her, and embraced her ever so gently. "I did. I killed YN the spy, but kept YN, my wife with me."
She gasped, no doubt a stream of tears were lining her face. "And how could you say that I don't love you when... I... have affections for you."
She finally smiled and giggled at me. "Now that's my Sasuke. I know he can't say cool lines and can't say 'I love you' properly!"
My face reddened. So I tried. "I... love... you..." I said, almost in a whisper.
"What! Say that again!" She exclaims. "I want it on recording!"
"No."
"Oh... Sasuke! I love you so say it again."
"No."
"You're so mean!"
After a few days of reaffirming our vows and trying to get out of this predicament, YN decided to take the liberty to quit her assassination job.
As for me, well, my team assassinated the client that issued the request from YN.
Regarding YN's job, at first she wanted to work with me but couldn't as currently she's carrying our soon-to-be-born daughter, which begins a new chapter in our lives together, but that’s a story for another time.

Boruto: Sacrifices [Remade] | Chap.13 - What Matters Most
Tumblr media
Written by: Eleanor-Devil & @mirage-05
Prologue | Chap.1 | Chap.2 | Chap.3 | Chap.4 | Chap.5 | Chap.6 | Chap.7 | Chap.8 | Chap.9 | Chap. 10 | Chap.11 | Chap.12 | Chap.13 - You’re here
The chill of the earliest hours of the day were gaining upon them as the large group made its way through the woods, as discreetly as possible. But no chill could've rivaled the one that was growing in Sasame's heart at that moment. She couldn't help the way in which her thoughts kept drifting to her husband. It had been twenty years since she had known Hideyoshi, they had met briefly before she left for her mission to find her cousin. He had always been honest, caring... Especially for those younger than him. And he had always been a man of honor... That was the trademark of the Oberatsu after all, their penchant for honor... Why would he attack a child? Was it possible... that she didn't get to know him at all...? "Mama?" The voice of her eldest, Kazuhiro, was enough to snap her out of it. The young boy was looking at her through worried dark brown irises. Sasame's sad eyes took a softer look. "Kazuhiro..." (1) "Are we... going to see my dad again...?" That was the question she had feared. The orange haired kunoichi closed her eyes for a moment as memories flooded her mind...
[Flashback] "I am begging you, you mustn't go!" The woman's eyes showed nothing but desperation as she watched her husband packing his weapons. The arrows, his small bow... And the truth that she could do nothing to stop him made her heart ache, so much so that it was almost unbearable... "This is a great honor. You should understand..." "What is a great honor?" Sasame almost cried out. "To build a village from the ashes of another? Where is the honor in that?" "Our village was destroyed, shunned, cursed... All because of that one cursed ninja who was pardoned for his crimes while we stayed aloof, fending for ourselves - barely..." "And blaming everyone else but ourselves for it!" the woman yelled. "We couldn't form a unity because each one of the clans are too egoistic to put personal matters aside and name a leader for the prosperity of Otogakure! Why should we go wage war on an innocent nation because of this?! Why can't we make allies out of them instead of enemies?!" "No, we suffer because of Orochimaru!" Hideyoshi spat, spinning around to look at her. "And if disrupting his peace meant attacking his former village, so be it! What did that so-called peace treaty bring upon us?! Otogakure was cast aside as if a useless doll - no one gave us a second thought!" "No one has to. We could solve all of our problems ourselves if we had enough backbone and a clever and selfless enough leader!" "That's enough." The man's voice was cold and hard. "You ordered Fuma out of this mission but the others all agreed to it." "And your leader hand-picked you and brainwashed you enough to repeat his own words to me. You can fool anyone but me - your heart is not entirely in this mission, either." Hideyoshi only avoided her gaze for a second, but when he looked back at her, his gaze was determined. "I know where my loyalties lie. Oto will be reformed, brought to glory. If it was to be on the blood of your friend, the Hokage..." His words were like a knife through her heart. "...so be it." Regaining her composure, Sasame straightened her back, her gaze and voice just as cold. "If you get out now... You can't come back as Fuma Sasame's husband." Hideyoshi stopped dead in his tracks as he reached to get out of the tent, and turned to look at her with sad, almost heart-broken eyes... And for a moment, Sasame couldn't even breathe as guilt and sadness washed upon her... [End of Flashback] Sasame opened her eyes with a tear, and saw Kazuhiro was still gazing at her carefully. "Mama..." "Kazuhiro, you have an important mission from now on." she mused softly, looking at the boy with a broken smile. "You are gonna have to take care of your brother and sister..." "He is not coming back..." the young boy stated, not as a question, just as a means of voicing the simple truth. "I'm afraid not, my dear child..." Sasame tried to control the trembling in her voice. "So you will be the one to fill his void... The best as you can..." As he nodded grimly, the woman was wondering how she was ever going to fill the void in her heart... ... The young woman knelt before the other two, who were finishing their preparations. "God dammit! They are here! There are twelve Konoha ninjas out there!" Hearing that, Suzume's heart skipped a beat, her eyes widening. That was what she had feared - although now to think of it, most likely what the Yoshida and the other clans planned when they left her with this punishment. She was a disgrace... If she could manage to go back unscathed, she would be allowed to have a clean slate. If not... It didn't really matter if she died here. She had just counted on the possibility that the Konoha ninjas wouldn't reach Oto this quickly. "Okay, we have to come up with a plan. This means four ninjas for each..." "Wait. Who told you we would be fighting?" The woman's head turned to her comrade. "What?" "They are here for you, not us." the second woman said matter-of-factly. "We are not gonna stand here and risk our skins." "Together we have a better chance against them!" Suzume spat, a fire burning in her eyes. "What makes you think they won't come after you if I don't make it out?!" "Then you better make sure to stop them. After all... that's the least you can do after how you failed so miserably." And with that, the two women sprinted towards the trees, leaving a horrified Suzume behind... ... The forest was quiet. Only sounds of nature waking up surrounded him as Konohamaru walked further into the clearing, his keen eyes searching everywhere, detecting every simple movement. Letting his breath out in one curt sigh, Konohamaru took another step forward... And came to a stop as he felt the sharp and cold tip of a kunai against his throat. "I assume you are looking for me." came the cold, unconcerned voice of a woman behind him. The young jounin didn't even think about it as instinct took over. In one quick motion, he dodged the blade, bent down on his knees and spun around to kick the woman's legs out from under her. Then he jumped back a little to put some distance between them and as the woman got up, he got his first glance of her. And he did take in all aspects of her appearance... Recording all of the details of this hated woman into his memory... from her black hair tucked back into the bandana of her protector with only two bangs falling before her eyes to the black eyes, black as coals... "Yoshida Suzume." he practically spat out her name, his voice filled with so much disgust. "I am here to exact justice on you for the crimes you committed against Konoha." His eyes narrowed. "And for harming my student." The woman chuckled. "Oooh, how touching... But for that..." There was a flash of light, and the next second the brunette looked, Suzume was no longer standing a few feet away from him. "...you have to catch me first." came her voice from above, from the canopy of trees. ... "Lord Sixth," Kakashi heard Kiba's voice in the ear piece. "We are closing in on them. What is our next..." Before he could finish, there was an explosion of a loud, high-pitched and ringing sound and Kakashi had to pull out the earpiece in the nick of time to protect his hearing. As the powerful blast died down slowly, the former Hokage brought the piece to his ear once again. "What is going on? Is everyone alright?" No sound came, only a weird buzzing. Cursing under his breath, he did a quick hand seal, and was suddenly surrounded by lightning... ... "You moron!" The woman ran to her friend. "I told you not to do it! You're still not an expert on sound blasts!" The woman on the ground tried to get up, but it was apparent that she wasn't doing a good job - her balance was too set off. "We needed to stop them - they were about to catch us!" Hearing a buzzing sound, the other looked up and around, gritting her teeth. Nothing could be seen, but she was sensing a powerful chakra... an insanely powerful chakra. "Good luck with that, you idiot! I'm out of here!" "What?!" the woman yelped, positively alarmed. "Wait!" But the former had already started to disappear through the trees. Clenching her jaw, the woman got to her feet, slowly, shakily... Her hands then moved to the crossed swords on her back, extracting two thin and long swords.
If it had to come down to a fight, they might as well have a taste of the Fujaku Hisho Shoken. (2)
... So that was how she wanted to play it, huh? He had made his plan as soon as she got lost between the trees. Without wasting any time, Konohamaru used a fire jutsu to create a huge fire wall in front of him, then punched the ground, which caused a whirlwind to be born. Using the air currents to his advantage, the jounin then sent the whirlwind, powered by the flames, directly to the cluster of trees. She wouldn't just stand around to get roasted. She would have to come down. Sure enough, he saw a flash of blue that probably meant she was using a water technique to meet the inferno. Light smoke began covering the area - which gave him a chance to prepare his second attack. Inhaling, the brunette let out a huge cloud of ashes from his mouth and then, jerking his head back to activate the trigger, he watched as flames instantly covered the area... A huge explosion went off, illuminating the dark sky. Konohamaru then took out eight shurikens, one in between each finger, and waited... "Geez, you're indeed going all out, aren't you?" Turning around quickly, he saw the woman for a moment before he threw half of the shurikens at her, but the next he looked, she wasn't there at all. "That kid must have really meant something to you." Turning to the second direction, Konohamaru threw the second group of the shurikens. Suzume tut tutted, her voice almost sounding like she was enjoying herself. "Now now, these rash actions won't do, will they?" "You bit-" "Hey, watch out that tongue. This is not how you talk to a lady." "News flash, I will never consider you a lady." "Hah. Guess I will have to show you, do I? Torpedo Nails!" When he heard that, the brunette jumped into the air and away from where he was just standing, just as small pieces of whatever weapon she was using embedded themselves into the ground. Not wanting to take any chances, Konohamaru put his hands together to create shadow clones. Precariously, three of the clones walked forward. As soon as they tried to take another step, though... They couldn't. Then hundreds of nails shot from the ground, and Konohamaru jumped behind a tree as the clones disappeared with a poof sound. Suzume had also hid herself behind a tree, hiding with the camouflage technique. Damn, this wouldn't do... She needed some extra help. ... Just before she used the swords to launch herself into the air, she saw someone, someone shrouded in a bright armor of lightning as it seemed, running into the clearing she had just been. Okay... lightning shouldn't be hard. Landing on a branch, the woman quickly did a set of hand signs, and then held her hands in a triangle, positioning them so that she could see the person in between them. "Curse Mandala!" she shouted, and her opponent came to a dead stop as a glowing green pyramid shape materialized around him, trapping him inside. Smirking, the woman began pulling her fingers closer. As the pyramid got tighter and tighter, though... Suddenly there was a poof sound, and the man was no longer there. "Excuse me," then came a drawl from behind her, and she immediately turned back, only to gaze into the face of a white haired man. "But I think you got the wrong one." Thinking quickly, the woman used the swords to slash at him, but next she saw, he was not there. Losing her already unsettled balance, she fell from the tree, but thanks to her wind cutter technique, she landed safely. "Passing Fang!" Without catching her breath properly, she saw something... a ferociously spinning something, which looked like a drill, heading to her way and raised her swords to counter it, but hard... it was so hard to maintain her ground like this... The power forced her to take a few steps, driving her back. Gritting her teeth, she tried her best to resist it... But it was futile. Not long after that, she felt the force of the technique throwing her back, like a rag doll, right into a rock. As she tried to get up, bringing a hand to her head, she heard the two men talking among themselves. "Are all of you okay, Kiba? What happened back there?" "It was nothing we couldn't handle, Lord Sixth, we were just caught unprepared for a second." Lord Sixth?! The woman's eyes widened. Did... a village leader... come seeking them out?! Well, shit. "That's right. I'm the Sixth Hokage, Hatake Kakashi, and it’s not possible you could escape judgement after attacking the Leaf." she heard the drawl once again as she straightened herself up. "It would be in your better interest if you surrender now without resistance..." "Well... I'm sorry, Rokudaime-sama," the woman said from between gritted teeth, emphasizing the last word sarcastically. "But I'm Kamiko from the Yoshida clan, and the Yoshida knows no such thing as surrender." She then brought her hands together to create balls of flame and threw them randomly towards the space between them, causing explosions and creating an opening for her to go into hiding. On Kakashi's signal, Kiba jumped towards the trees to take another place. "If you think you can run from us forever, think again." the former Hokage said, bringing his hands together to create lightning. Out of the charge came two hounds, who growled at him in recognition before running away. ... Suzume bit her thumb and let a bit of blood trail from the wound before slamming her hand on the ground, creating a black shape. "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!" A huge, poisonous green and yellow snake erupted from the ground, coiling around itself before meeting her eyes. "Kessha, bury him to the ground!" Hissing once, the snake rose high into the air before slamming on the earth with a huge bang that shook almost the entire forest, and slid underground. Konohamaru had heard her move. Acting quickly, he also slammed his palm on the ground and yelled, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!" A huge monkey wearing a Konoha headband appeared in front of him, and as soon as he did, he yelled, "Jump!" Without hesitation the brunet did as he was told, and just when he jumped, a snake burst through the ground, baring his fangs at him. With a primeval shriek, the monkey transformed itself into a long, black and yellow staff and cloned itself right before Konohamaru landed, creating some sort of a prison wall in front of him. The snake's bared fangs collided with the many staffs that had made the wall, but the prison itself wasn't even shaken. At that time, the snake caught the eyes that were protruding from the staff, and its eyes widened. Without going for another attack, it slid back into the hole and disappeared from the view. The staff returned to its original size, releasing Konohamaru from where he was trapped, and the jounin held the staff in one hand in an attack pose while reaching for a kunai with the other. "Enma..." (3) "No words needed, boy. Better not let your guard down." the monkey king spoke from the staff. "We have faced this enemy before." ... The woman's eyes widened when she saw Kessha returning to her. "What do you think you are doing?! Keep attacking, he is not dead yet!" "Are you serious?!" the snake asked in a feminine voice, obviously furious and panicked. "You want me to fight with the fucking monkey king Enma?! Are you out of your mind?!" "So what?!" Suzume yelled, equally pissed off. "Stop being a hebiko (4), and finish them off!" ... "Wait, what do you mean we faced them before?" Konohamaru asked with a frown, thoroughly confused. "You remember back when you summoned me in the orphanage attack?" Enma's arm stretched out from the staff and he touched the adamantine with it, as if tapping his nose. "My nose never failed me. That snake the woman just used was one of those who were present in that attack." For a moment, the brunet didn't even know what to say. "W-what...?" "As you just heard it," the monkey said, glancing at him. "This woman was definitely involved in the attack against Konoha." Konohamaru's mind was reeling, so many questions and thoughts... What did this even mean? That the Sound was once again playing as Orochimaru's pioneers? Was there an even greater scheme behind all of these? Or... he didn't want to think of this, but he was a jounin and he was supposed to look at it from all angles, no matter how disturbing they might be... Was there a possibility... that the sannin wasn't involved in it... at all? He was lost in thought for a moment, he didn't notice the impending threat until Enma called out. "Watch out!" Looking up just in time, the brunette used the staff to ward off the lights, but one of them came too close to his arm, and he hissed in pain as something seared it. Then he heard the woman's high, cold laughter. "Uh oh, guess we just got busted, aren't we?" she said in a sing-song voice, which irritated the man even more. "You couldn't deny the mastermind behind the plan, though, admit it! You numb skulls didn't even suspect a thing!" "What the hell are you talking about?!" "Did you know it took us a lot of time to finally copy that damned curse seal so we can frame that bastard? It was no easy feat, and even harder to create three snakes all at once - just a couple of months ago I could only call forth two." "You..." words were failing him, he was so outraged. There was a whoosh sound right behind him then, and using the kunai he drew out earlier, he slashed, only to meet the air. “Oooh wait… did I see that blade somewhere before?” These words drew the young man’s gaze back to the kunai, and he did a double-take. He hadn’t even realized he pulled out the kunai he had gifted Mitsuki the one he found, still buzzing with lightning, on their way out of the village. His grip only tightened more on the blade as he heard the woman laughing once again, only her voice sounded from far away. "Wait, just answer me this... was that child in some way related to that snake bastard? I thought as much when he looked up at me... Was that the reason you guys kicked him out of the village? Wow, now even we couldn't have planned that!" "What does it matter if he is related to him or not?" Konohamaru yelled in rage, creating another set of clones. "He is still a child!" He then used the clones to throw shurikens towards the woman's voice from all directions. "Did you know that he begged for his life?" the woman then said, from right behind him. This time, his body acted before his mind. Lightning fast, he reached out to grab the woman's shoulder and flipped himself over her in one quick motion. As soon as he landed, still holding on to her, he threw her over himself, basically slamming her into the ground. Without giving her a chance to recover, grabbing the adamantine staff tightly, he brought the end of it, hard, to Suzume's head, seeing her eyes widening in shock. "Cranium crusher!" Just before the staff touched her, though, the woman had disappeared in a flash. The jounin stood there for a moment, enraged. How the fuck did that just happen?! A few feet away, crouched behind a rock, the Oto kunoichi brought a hand to her chest. That... had been close. ... Hearing the growls of the lightning beasts as they drew closer, Kamiko gritted her teeth, she had to do something about them - fast. Turning around, she once again used the swords to create powerful air blasts - slice after another slice - and sent them after the hounds. Easily dodging them, one of them came running at her, its fangs bared, at which the woman dug one of the swords to the ground, swinging around it and kicking the air currents at the creature's face. Although it stopped the hound, its lightning did catch her left foot and the woman cursed as she knelt on the ground, holding it. Damn, this was going to make things hard for her. Hearing a sound right then, Kamiko took a dozen shurikens and threw four of them randomly, towards the cardinal directions. She saw a ninja rushing towards her from one direction, and she pulled the strings attached to the shuriken to make it fly towards the enemy, but the weapon passed through him and the body disappeared. A clone... The real ninja then jumped her from a completely different direction, forcing her to get up, which caused pain to shout up through her left leg. She didn't have time to concentrate on it, though, as she saw the opponent's fist soaring towards her face. So he was going to rely on taijutsu, huh? Well, that was just fine with her. Gathering chakra to the tips of her fingers, she prepared to launch her attack. This was meant to cause the sound waves emitted by the body, the heartbeat for example, to respond to her chakra and make a pressure powerful enough to cause some serious damage. Bonus points if she managed to hit the enemy in the chest area. So they fought, but her opponent was good. It was apparent that he was very skilled, as he managed to dodge her every move. Her hand did come close to his body once or twice, but caused nothing more than a flinch. Just when she made another move, the ninja suddenly brought up his left arm and right leg and before she knew it, her arm was caught in between them. A crack was heard. Crying out loud from the pain, Kamiko fell on the ground, holding the broken arm. Seeing that the man was still advancing, she tried to reach one of the swords using her left arm... Out of nowhere, tiny wires wrapped around the sword and before she could touch it, the weapon broke into tiny pieces. Eyes widened in shock, she turned around herself to reach for the other, but before she could do that, a powerful blast of power sent her flying. Just when she was about to get up again, she felt something... a powerful, burning electric surge directed to her back, not piercing it, but its presence so threatening that she found it impossible to even take another step... "Chidori. A thousand birds." came the voice of the sixth behind her. "One hit and you will die the worst death... Suffering as your insides burned on with hundreds of volts." Feeling the kunoichi shiver before him, Kakashi continued in the same cold tone. "Surrender now. It's over." There was really nothing else she could do. Slowly, cursing under her breath for it... She raised her hands up. ... Suddenly hearing a buzz from his ear piece, Konohamaru concentrated on it, while his keen eyes searched everywhere for Suzume. "We are done here, Konohamaru. It's all up to you now." Hearing that, a big grin etched its way on his face. That was it... "Did you hear that?" he yelled towards the woman, although he knew that she probably didn't. "Your little friend is finished. You are all alone now!" "Oh. Just like how you left that kid alone?" came the woman's voice. "I know what you did. I know how you trapped him so we couldn't hear him!" "Bet you didn't know how he was crying when we were finished with him, though?" came her whisper from right behind him then, and for a moment... everything came to a stop as the jounin froze... literally froze. He didn't believe her other words from before... He knew Mitsuki would never beg for his life and he knew for sure that no matter what that woman believed, he wasn't sent away from Konoha, Lord Seventh would never allow that... But... he... was crying...? How deeply must he have been hurt - not just physically but emotionally too - after what he had gone through in the village...? And they could do nothing to stop it... He himself had failed as his sensei... "Boy look out!" he heard Enma's voice, but then it was too late. He hadn't noticed Suzume sneaking up behind him. There was an explosion and Konohamaru felt himself thrown into the air, with a burning pain in his back. He landed a few feet away, and brought a hand to his wounds as he tried to get up. Enma was beside him in a second, with a disapproving look on his face. "Didn't I tell you not to get distracted? Zoning out is the last thing you would want to do with someone like her around! Get a grip already!" "I-I know," the brunet mumbled. "I'm fine..." Then he once again heard the voice of the Lord Sixth coming from the earpiece, although his tone was harsher than before. "Konohamaru. If you are going to be careless, I will have to step in." Then his voice softened a little. "You have come this far this good. You wanted to fight her alone. Don't let me take this chance away from you now." Those... were just the words he needed. Closing his eyes, Konohamaru straightened himself and got up, forgetting about the pain for a moment to concentrate on ending this. Focusing on his chakra, he called upon a rasengan... A big one... and watched it as it got bigger... [Flashback] ...this... this was not happening... It felt like time had stopped, trapping Konohamaru inside his own personal hell as he watched, too shocked to even breathe, his student... passing away... right before his very eyes… What he wouldn't give to be dying in Mitsuki's place right now... He was too young... Just barely thirteen... He did not deserve this - he deserved to live!... "...Sh... Shall I announce the time...?" When he heard the nurse... all of a sudden, he snapped back to life. Without seeing eyes, he strode to the door and burst it open, rushing inside... Two of the nurses managed to barely stop him before he reached the bed, and Konohamaru tried to control his breathing as he looked at an unmoving Mitsuki. "Konohamaru-san, please..." one of the nurses mumbled, tearing up. "Mitsuki!" the jounin yelled, barely recognizing his own voice, filled with so many emotions. "You can do this, kiddo, don't give up! You are so much stronger than this! Come back to us!" "Konohamaru-san, please you have to step back...!" said one of the nurses, she barely had the strength to push back a man like Konohamaru and he was clearly not accepting his student's death but... there was nothing more they could do...! The kid... was gone... his heart didn't respond... "Tsunade-sama...?" murmured the second nurse, looking at the former Hokage. "Wait... wait just a second..." Sakura mumbled in Tsunade's place, her eyes still on the machine. "Sakura-san... It might be too much already..." One of the nurses warned her. "No... no, please... please don't give up on him... He's strong, he'll pull through... I'm begging you, please don't give up..." Konohamaru said, almost as if in a trance. "Let's just leave the child in peace..." another nurse said, her voice shaky. Tsunade snapped back to herself and hastily hushed the nurse, staring at Sakura. "Sakura-san..." But as the nurse was about to mumble the same words as before... a tiny but sudden sound erupted from the machine, causing everyone's eyes to immediately set at it. As the heart rate slowly, very slowly fell back to a steady rhythm, Sakura broke into a smile, and laughed softly, while tears fell down from her eyes. "You really do like your surprises, don't you?" she mused fondly, leaning over to kiss Mitsuki on the top of his head. A tear fell on the closed eye of the child. Tsunade smiled too, but it was a broken smile. "Really, kid... I'm not a young woman anymore, don't scare us like that..." Konohamaru was hit by such a huge wave of relief that he almost couldn't stand his ground. He brought his hand over his mouth as he began to softly cry himself. He didn't object this time as the nurse told him he should really wait outside, and silently retreated out of the room, his eyes on Mitsuki all the time. [End of Flashback] He heard a sliding sound, trees crushing as the giant snake once again made her way to him. His eyes, however, were locked on the woman, who stood behind the beast, a disgusting smirk all over her face... And Konohamaru stroke forward. He swung the adamantine staff towards the snake, enlarging the staff. Enma burst out at the end of it, wrapping his arms around the snake before he pierced her throat with his fangs. And before she could do anything... Konohamaru had grabbed the woman by her collar, slamming her into a tree... Suzume's eyes widened for one last time before the rasengan hit her chest with full force. It was over... ... Enma turned to his normal form as the other Konoha ninjas gathered around, all just silently looking at the brunet. The monkey king had a small smile on his face, his look both exasperated and proud. 'You have quite the grandson, Sarutobi...' he thought to himself. ... Dropping the woman's body to the ground, the jounin looked at her expressionlessly, feeling only... relieved... a whole... [Flashback] Konohamaru felt so proud of his students... The second round of the Chuunin exams was over, and they had managed excellent teamwork. Much better than what he expected, really, what with Boruto being Boruto... Speaking of which, he noticed two genins in his team were approached by their family, receiving cheers and congratulations, big smiles on their faces... and of course, Boruto had been in a gloating mode... The next thing he noticed was his third student... standing all by himself, a couple of feet away from them, just looking at his two teammates and their families with a small smile. And something about that bothered the young jounin. About how Mitsuki had no one to cheer for him, at least for that moment... Making his decision, he started walking towards him. The blue haired boy was surprised when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to gaze into the smiling face of his sensei. "Well done, kiddo, great job," Konohamaru said encouragingly. "I knew you guys would do it." And slowly, the boy's face broke into a full-on smile as well... [End of Flashback] 'Thank you... sensei...' Hearing the faint voice brought by the wind itself, the brunet's eyes widened for a moment. Before he knew it, he had fallen on his knees beside Suzume's body, his head bowed low as he started weeping softly, and the sun's first rays began seeping through the trees...

A.N:
(1) Remember or note down these names. They are gonna be very important in the following projects. (2) You can search this and almost all of the technique names listed on this chapter on Narutopedia. (3) This Enma is the Enma who was Hiruzen's personal summon. We do not use Konohamaru's canon summons, the toad or the monkey, in our storyline. (4) This literally means snake child, but I used it here to mean "baby snake", as in Suzume telling Kessha to stop acting like a scared baby.

All's Fair In Love & War- Nobunaga Ch. 26
Chapter 26
I shot upright in my bed as soon as the old mnemonic ran through my head. “How could I forget that?!” I couldn’t believe…how could I forget it? Nobunaga…in the history from my original time… he died in a coup.
I remembered tidbits of history here and there. But I had forgotten this one. The most important one. I instantly started pacing my room as I wracked my brain for more information. “I need a date…” I muttered to myself. “Ugh…why did I not pay better attention…and why did I burn that damn book?”
When I was on that school trip to Kyoto, I had bought a guide book. I couldn’t even fully remember the title anymore, but it had been something about the hottest warlords or something. It had different sites and tidbits about some of Japan’s greatest warlords. Ugh…if only I had kept that, but I didn’t want anything that might cause problems if found. I mean, if someone from this time got spoilers…well some very bad things could happen.
“Dammit, where is Sasuke and his big brain full of history facts when you need him?” I muttered to myself.
Then as if I had summoned him, there was a knock on my ceiling. I looked up, grabbing my sword just in case. “If that’s not you, Sasuke, prepare to be skewered.”
My ceiling tile moved and Sasuke’s masked face was popping through. He pulled his mask down and gave me one of his small smiles. “It’s me. Please don’t skewer me? If I didn’t know any better I’d think I was still with my boss.” He was then executing a backflip from the ceiling and landing silently on my floor.
“You better be here as my friend and not a spy.” I told him, even as I moved to put away my sword.
“I promise, no spying.” Sasuke replied. “Though I figured it would be better for you if I snuck in versus visiting you out in the open.”
“I appreciate that.” I replied. I then gestured for him to have a seat.
“Thanks.” Sasuke replied, sitting down on the cushion.
“How long have you been in my ceiling?” I asked.
“Not long.” Sasuke answered. “Though I do believe I overheard you saying something about needing a moderately awesome history expert?”
“Yes…it’s something very important.” I replied. “I’m sure you remember I wasn’t the best student…”
“What are you wondering about, Ava?” Sasuke asked.
“The coup.” I replied. “The one…the one where Nobunaga dies…”
“Are you wondering because you want to prevent it?” Sasuke asked.
“I know that it’s changing history…but I…I can’t let Nobunaga die.” I told him, feeling on the verge of tears. “I know it sounds crazy…and maybe ridiculous…but I am in love with him. I can’t… I can’t live in a world without him.”
Sasuke seemed taken aback for a moment. I could tell he was surprised by my confession. Then he nodded. “I can’t ignore my friend in need.” He replied. “Besides, you have already significantly altered history from our original history.”
“How so?” I asked.
“For one thing, Lord Ava Yamada never existed.” Sasuke pointed out. “But also…originally, after Lord Riku’s death…the Yamada clan fell and until Hideyoshi completed Nobunaga’s unification, this area was in turmoil and constant war.”
“I see.”
“And I have also altered history as well.” He replied. “I’m sure you’ll find out exactly how before much longer.”
“So tell me, when does it happen?”
“June twenty-first.” Sasuke answered. “So that should be about five weeks away.”
“Five weeks…” I said, biting my lower lip. “What else can you tell me?”
“In our time, it is said that Mitsuhide Akechi betrayed Nobunaga…and in the coup Nobunaga was staying at Hono-ji and committed seppuku and the temple was set ablaze to keep his enemies from getting his body…”
My heart lurched painfully in my chest as the image of Nobunaga running himself through, flashed through my mind. I shook my head, as if I could get rid myself of the thought. “I… I’m not entirely sure history is right on that one.” I said.
“Why do you say that?”
“Just…things that have been happening I just…I think it was someone else and the blame was placed on Mitsuhide.” I replied. “He’s a slithery bastard so I’ll give the historians that one.”
“Who do you think did it?” Sasuke asked.
“Not sure…my money would be on whoever tried to assassinate him at my festival a couple of weeks ago.” I replied.
“I had heard something about that.” Sasuke replied. “Mercenaries were hired, right?”
“Yeah, but they didn’t even know who paid them. Just someone that threw a lot of coin at them.” I answered.
“Could the mysterious man have been Mitsuhide or working for Mitsuhide?” Sasuke asked. “If history was right.”
“Possibly.” I replied. “But…I don’t know I feel like Mitsuhide goes out of his way to make himself suspicious. It feels…obvious. Too obvious.”
“I get what you mean.” Sasuke said, nodding. “Do you think it would be anyone close to him betraying him?”
“I didn’t have any gut feelings about anyone.” I answered. “And I’ve learned to trust my gut since being here.”
“I see.” Sasuke replied.
“Alright, I need you to tell me everything you can from what our original history said happened leading up to the coup.” I said after thinking a moment. “Maybe there will be a clue there…or maybe I can find a way to keep some of those things from happening.”
Sasuke nodded. “Alright, Professor Sasuke enters the building to begin your Sengoku history lesson.”
We spent the next few hours staying up, Sasuke telling me everything he knew. I paid so much more attention than I ever had before when I was in school in the modern day. “There’s a lot that has already been changed.” I said as soon as Sasuke had finished.
“True.” Sasuke replied. “And those changes might be significant enough to already change this coup.”
“I’m still going to investigate.” I replied. “I…I have a feeling about whoever it was that sent those mercenaries.”
Sasuke nodded. “I’ll let you know if I hear anything.” He said, though I could see guilt hiding in his eyes. “No matter what, you're my friend and I wouldn’t want to see your happiness taken from you.”
“Thank you Sasuke.” I told him. He didn’t have to tell me for me to know…whoever he worked for now, whoever had taught him his newfound ninja skills…was an enemy of Nobunaga. And Sasuke helping me to prevent Nobunaga’s death…that would be a betrayal to whoever his lord was. “I truly appreciate your help. It means a lot to me.”
“Any time.” Sasuke replied, giving me a thumbs up and his signature small smile. “I should probably get going and you should try to get some rest.”
I nodded. “Right, be safe out there.”
“You, too.”
I spent the next few days preparing for the upcoming battle as well as putting more effort into the investigation. My gut was telling me whoever it was that had sent those mercenaries would be the one that started the coup.
“Is it just me or does something seem off with Lord Ava lately?” Sato asked Jiro as the two exited a council where Ava had given them more of the details of the upcoming plans as well as some new orders.
Jiro nodded. “Yes. I’ve noticed her lantern lit late into the night.”
“And she’s been sending out more men to investigate the mercenaries and who might have sent them.” Sato replied. “It seems she’s rather…worried about it.”
“If there is an unknown, it could interfere with things in the upcoming battle.” Jiro agreed.
“But it seems like more than that.” Sato replied. “It’s like…there’s some worry that she won’t voice…one that’s just hanging over her head.”
“I am sure she will tell us when the time is right.” Jiro replied.
“I hope so.” Sato said.
“We just have to continue to support her as we always have.”
Sato nodded. “Yeah…but I still want to know what she’s so worried about and why she’s so focused on those mercenaries.”
“I know…I think it might be a mixture of pride because it happened in her land and wanting to prove herself as part of the alliance…” Jiro replied.
“And the bigger part would be that she’s afraid of losing someone else important to her.” Sato replied. “You know how she was after Lord Riku and Lady Kaede…she loved them so much and seeing them cut down like that…losing them like that…”
“She’s more determined than ever not to lose anyone else.” Jiro agreed. “But Lord Nobunaga is very strong and so is Lord Ava.”
“Yes they both are, but they are still human.” Sato replied. “I just hope… maybe once she’s able to see him again it won’t be so bad…”
Meanwhile in a secluded forest cabin somewhere between Ava’s land and Azuchi…
Ranmaru sat on the floor across from his master. “So that is what his next move is. He’s going to go for that territory with the help of a new ally, Lord Yamada.”
“I see. How anyone can ally with that devil is beyond me.” The large bear of a man that was his master replied. “We will watch and wait for the right moment to strike.”
“Yes, Master.” Ranmaru replied.
“You should return before anyone notices you are gone.”
Ranmaru nodded. “Right.” He then left the cabin, his heart heavy. He wanted to bring his master peace…but was this truly the right way? Was destroying Nobunaga and everyone else in Azuchi the only way to save his master? Could he live with himself after, just so long as his master was happy?
Another man came in the cabin, almost as soon as Ranmaru had left, clad in black and bowed. “Abbott, I have a report.” The man in black said.
“What is it?” The large man with a scar across his face said.
“There are rumors that that devil has taken on a lover. A woman he even intends on taking with him to the next battle.”
“Really?”
The subordinate nodded. “Yes Abbott. They say her name is Ava and that the devil is rather fond of her.”
“We may have just found our way to take the devil down.” The Abbott replied, a cruel and bitter smile on his face, though sadness lingered in his dark eyes.
The man bowed before exiting, leaving his master alone with his thoughts. The abbott solemnly bowed his head, his eyes closed. “Forgive me for what I must do.”

I've just gotta ask how the warlords would react to an MC who was a total goofball and just had to explain all of her pop culture references from the present! 👀
I’m so sorry this took so long but OMG I LOVE THIS ASK!! Thanks for the request!! 💕✨ Also sorry if some of these memes are ancient, I just have a thing for dead memes.
Oda Forces
Nobunaga: It was a bright sunny day, and you and Nobunaga were carrying huge bags of konpeito inside the castle. Just as you stepped inside you almost dropped yours, but managed to catch it much to the his relief. You weren’t thinking as you shouted “Hurricane Katrina?! More like Hurricane Konpeito!” and began laughing to yourself. Nobunaga’s confused face was enough to make you laugh harder, and after you explained the joke to him he smiled a bit. “Ah I see. As devastating as hurricanes may be, that’s a funny joke.”
Hideyoshi: You, Hideyoshi, and the other warlords were back home from a council in another city. The two of you decided to lead the horses you were riding back home on to the stable as the rest of the warlords filed inside the castle. “Ok (Name), I want you to take the horses to the stable while I go fetch some carrots for them,” he said. As soon as he turned around, you said, “So I take the horses to the back?” “Yes”. “Horse tack is attached?” “Um… sure.” “Hat is matte black?” “…What?” “Got the boots that’s black to match?” “Um, (Name), my boots are white—” You were laughing hysterically the entire time while Hideyoshi just looked like O_o. When you explained the reference to Hideyoshi he was still confused, but decided to keep that to himself as he shrugged and walked away to get the carrots.
Masamune: (Some of you may not recognize this reference lol. I’m referring to a game/show called Sengoku Basara, where Masamune Date is a main character. Please play/watch it, it’s super good!) While the two of you rode on one horse into battle, you were suddenly struck with an amazing idea. You lightly tapped Masamune’s shoulder, earning his attention. “Yeah (Name)?” “I have a request,” you said. “Um, ok, what is it?” You giggles and replied “I want you to shout the phrase “ARE YOU READY GUYS?!” at the top of your lungs.” As confused as he was, he followed your directions, earning a “YEAH!!!” from everyone behind both of you, and it was so perfect you almost cried. After the battle, when you explained the reference to him, he grinned. “Wow, I never expected to be such a big star in your modern world.” Since then, he always did the same thing, earning an enthusiastic response from his army each time.
Mitsunari: You were waiting for Mitsunari to finish getting dressed so you could go out for a stroll. As soon as he stepped out of the room your eyes were drawn to the pair of god awful sandals he was wearing. Your mouth twitched slightly as he smiled at you. “Let’s go (Name)!” He chirped before you couldn’t fight the urge anymore. “O-Ok Mitsunari,” you said. “But I have one question for you.” He tilted his head. “What is it?” He said. You clapped and pointed your hands at his shoes. “WHAT ARE THOOOOOOSE?!” You shouted, catching him off guard. He blinked and replied, “Sandals, (Name),” he said, and you laughed hysterically. After you explained it to him he was still left confused. “So, you weren’t actually asking me what these are?” You giggled. “Let’s y’all about it later,” you said, taking his arm and walking outside.
Ieyasu: You and Ieyasu were sitting inside of your room, sitting in silence as you both enjoyed the calm and peaceful quietness. However, that came to an end when you heard a crash come from outside, followed by Masamune yelling “Dammit!” “And I OOP—” you said instinctively, sipping your tea. Ieyasu gave you an incredulous look. “And you what???” You spit out your tea, coughing loudly while laughing hysterically, making him grow a bit concerned, before composing yourself and explaining. He rolled his eyes after you were finished. “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,” he said, but you didn’t fail to notice a spark of amusement in his eyes.
Mitsuhide: One day, you decided to prank Mitsuhide by telling him that you accidentally killed his fox. You approached him and tried to sound as convincing as possible, but he didn’t buy it for a second. When you asked him how he can never be fooled he said, “I can see the truth in your eyes, (Name),” before turning and walking away. However, before he could exit he heard you sing, “How can you see into my eyes like open doooooors.” He turned around, confused, until you explained it to him. Now both of you sing it together everyday (cue annoyed warlords)
Ranmaru: You were sitting outside, enjoying the breeze, until you heard footsteps approaching you. You looked up to see Ranmaru holding a basket with a smile on his face. “Hello Lady (Name!)” he said, and you smiled. “Hello Ran,” you returned the greeting. “What’s that in your hands?” He smiled. “It’s a surprise!” He kneeled down and opened the basket, revealing an interesting looking dessert. Just before he could tell you what it was, you spoke. “OwO! What’s this?” You said, watching his face go blank in confusion. ““O-Owoh”???” He asked. You howled with laughter, confusing him even more. Once you told him the reference, his confusion turned into awe as he clapped his hands excitedly. “Oh that’s so neat! Things from the future sound so interesting!!!” He beamed. “Oh and by the way,” he continued, picking up a piece of the food. “These are red bean buns.”
Uesugi-Takeda Forces
Kenshin: On a Sunday afternoon, you and Kenshin were busy sparring in preparation for your next battle. Just as he was about to strike at you, you deflected his sword, sending it flying and landing on the grass. “Dammit,” he muttered under his breath while panting slightly. “I should’ve attacked you from behind.” You saw this as the perfect opportunity to make the best meme reference you had the entire day. “BUT’CHA DIDN’T!!!” You yelled and burst out laughing, confusing the man beyond belief. Soon his expression turned sour. “Ok, you don’t have to rub it in,” he said, making you laugh even more. After you calmed down and explained that it’s a funny little reference from pop culture in your timeline, he himself let out a chuckle. “You definitely love referencing this “pop culture” of yours don’t you?” He asked, before he went to pick up his sword for the next round.
Shingen: You and Shingen has gone out to a tea house on a date that you’d planned since forever. Unfortunately the moment you entered, you were greeted with nothing but rows of full seats. Your beloved sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Well, looks like we won’t have anywhere to sit today.” You both were about to leave until your eye caught a vacant table in the corner of the room. “It’s free real estate,” you said and grabbed his hand before he could ask you what the heck you just said. When you reached the table he questioned that weird remark of yours, and you laughed in reply, explaining the meme to him. He chuckled slightly. “That’s pretty funny. And it makes sense too. You always find a way to make me laugh (Name),” he said just before the maid approached your table to take your orders.
Yukimura: Yukimura and you were at home, and since you felt rather creative, you decided to cook lunch for the day. The main course was going to be sushi, so you and Yukimura went to the marketplace to buy the ingredients. While you strolled around looking at the vegetables, you felt someone tap your shoulder. You turned around and saw Yukimura holding an avocado in your direction. You immediately suppressed your laughter before taking it. “An avocado! …thanks,” you said before putting it in your basket. Yukimura has the most confused expression known to man and you couldn’t help but guffaw. After you explained the meme, he rolled his eyes. “Only you would laugh at something as dumb as that,” he said as he turned around, trying not to burst out laughing himself.
Sasuke: (I saw an IkeSen Vine Compilation video which included this vine so I just had to as well—) The Kasugayama warlords decided to take you to the beach to celebrate your birthday. The moment you arrived you were hit with the pure breeze and scent of ocean water before you and the others carried your belongings to the sand. As soon as everything was set up, you and Sasuke looked at eachother before shouting “SAND GUARDIAN” at the top of your lungs in unison. You and the ninja ran towards the shore before he practically dived into the sand and popped his head out. He then shouted “I AM THE SAND GUARDIAN, GUARDIAN OF THE SAND,” at the top of his lungs, and you followed that up by collapsing on top of him yelling “POSEIDON QUIVERS BEFORE HIM!!!”, and as the sea rolled towards him, Sasuke screamed “FUCK OFF” making both of you laugh. Meanwhile the other three warlords watched the entire display with confused expressions.
Yoshimoto: It was your birthday and Yoshimoto had planned a mini party for you. As soon as you entered the decorated room with him you automatically said “SKSKSKSKSKSKSK” as loud as possible. The poor man jumped backwards in surprise, making you burst out laughing. When you explained the meme to him he tilted his head. “VSCO Girl?? That sounds interesting. Though I like those hair tie things you showed me. ‘Scrunchies’ I think…?” You almost collapsed laughing.
Mouri/Kennyo Forces
Motonari: You were waiting for Motonari to board the ship so that you could finally set sail once again. As soon as you heard approaching footsteps you immediately turned around, only to find him holding a pineapple with a smug look on his face. “Look what I found lying around the shore all by itself!” He said, proudly showing it off to you. You were about to congratulate him until the theme song of a certain show popped in your head. Without thinking, you immediately spouted “WHO LIVES IN A PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA? SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!!” Motonari’s shocked face made you cackle, and then you told him about Spongebob, to which he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Hm…” he said while staring at the pineapple. “So this is where Spongebob lives? Very well, he seems like an interesting fellow so I’ll leave his house in tact.” You suppressed your laughter as he walked out.
Kennyo: Kennyo watched you sharpen spears in concern. As much as he appreciated your willingness to fight he couldn’t help but feel worried for your wellbeing. He approached you, wincing slightly with every scrape you left on the blade. “(N-Name),” he said and you looked up. “Are you sure you are ready to take on yet a million more enemies? Especially with so many bruises?” You laughed a bit and grinned. “Don’t worry Ken. I’ve got the power of God and anime on my side,” you said before letting out a cackle. The monk had never been more confused in his entire life. “Aneemay?” He said. You almost died laughing before you explained what anime was and the entire meme itself. Despite his confusion he smiled and ruffled your hair. “That’s definitely interesting. After the battle I’d like to hear more about this interesting “aneemay” you seem to like so much.” You nodded, grinning.

Ikemen Sengoku Mafia!AU (Oda Forces)
In case y’all didn’t know I also write for Otome (both Voltage and Cybird)
Oda Nobunaga: the leader
Tumblr media
Absolutely a leader of a yakuza- and a good one at that too
(Assuming this takes place in modern day japan) runs one of the biggest Yakuza factions
On the outside though, he’s a very successful heir to a large, multimillion company (think Eisuke Ichinomiya from KBTBB I mean they’re practically the same person cmon)
Due to his seemingly inconspicuous ‘day job’ and charming personality making him very popular to the public eye, no one suspects him of being involved in any organized crime, so he’s able to operate very smoothly under the radar
Of course, he has spies every where- including in the government and police force so his tracks are very covered
Aims to take political power at some point and have his faction be the dominant faction (eliminating all possible rivals)
His biggest one being his enemy Kenshin Uesugi’s faction, who takes any and every opportunity they can to get under his nerves constantly lmao
Nobunaga and Kenshin have never seen each other face to face (if they did it’d be a blood bath), but still have an unspoken respect for each other as much as they hate each other lmao
The rivalry between their two families has lasted generations- now that it’s their turn, Nobunaga is determined to end it with the last laugh
Nobunaga’s still the same arrogant, cocky bastard he is, but 100x worse (as with modern technology)
Grew up with a very traditional family who were samurais in the past, so he’s had a lot of training in swordsmanship and martial arts
Always keeps a pistol in his jacket pocket and wears a bulletproof vest 90% of the time
(He’s not that good with guns tho)
On his desk there’s probably a little plateful of candies, and his fridge is also stocked with sweet things (it’s a wonder how he doesn’t have diabetes yet)
Also has a pocketful of tiny candies to last him throughout the day (much to Hideyoshi’s dismay)
Also, slicked back hair, suited up Nobunaga with a sleeve tattoo (he’d have to try really hard to keep his sleeve tattoo hidden but still just imagine)
Hideyoshi Toyotomi: the bodyguard
Tumblr media
Hideyoshi is Nobunaga’s most trusted confidant, who also serves as his bodyguard
Wherever Nobunaga goes, Hideyoshi follows suit
More often than not the voice of reason
Always trusts his gut and is always skeptical of new members (or just people in general why won’t you trust me dammit)
He came from a poor family of farmers in the countryside, and when they couldn’t take care of him anymore they abandoned him
He was a thief for a little while, until Nobunaga’s dad took him in and raised him as his own
Hideyoshi deems this a debt he has to pay, and him helping Nobunaga and keeping him straight will repay the family’s kindness
He’s always the one to direct less major missions and cleans up the messes
Frequently in contact with Mistuhide, and he hates the guy (more like annoyed tbh)
He’s basically Nobunaga’s messenger lmao
And mother older brother figure, he frequently stops Nobunaga from rampaging over something insignificant and keeps him from being unhealthy by taking away his candies sometimes
Is better skilled with a gun, and thus carries not one, but two (those like shoulder straps for guns under his suit type of thing)
He goes undercover from time to time, although it’s not his specialty- he’s kind of a jack of all trades kinda guy
He’s really good at sussing out the spies and traitors, because he listens to his gut and it’s almost always right
Will do anything and everything to help Nobunaga succeed, even if it means killing anyone who stands in the way
Date Masamune: the affiliate
Tumblr media
Masamune is actually the leader of another yakuza faction, but since it was so weak at the time he took the opportunity to pair up with Nobunaga
His faction deals more with drugs and weapons, smuggling them over borders and getting them out and in of the country
That being said, most of his deals take place at exclusive bars and clubs- where the richest of the rich gather
He’s a pretty laid-back guy for someone who runs a drug syndicate- he doesn’t really care how things get done as long as they get done somehow
Also pretty goofy- when people first meet him, they’d think that there was no way he was in the yakuza
Even though the sleeve tattoos and the eyepatch probably should’ve been enough for them to know
And the massive amount of jewelry, too- Masamune isn’t shy about his wealth like at all
He’s totally the type to wear those bigass rings, complete with sapphires on them just to show off a little more
He loves to piss off Nobunaga, he loves for it
Ieyasu tells him that it might get him killed (low key a worried bb) but Masamune knows Nobunaga isn’t gonna get rid of him anytime soon; due to the fact that Masamune’s faction gives a shit ton of money
Him and Ieyasu tolerate get along pretty well, although the latter may deny it
Out of all of them, he’s probably the strongest and most skilled combat-wise; he’s adept in martial arts, knives and blades, as well as having an extensive knowledge on firearms and even bombs and how to use them
Honestly, he’s with Nobunaga just for the power boost- ones his faction gets enough power, he’s gonna dip then come back and be like ‘sike u thought’
Masamune has the same aspiration as both Nobunaga and Kenshin, but knows he can’t fight them both at the same time. So why not let the two battle it out then fight the winner?
Akechi Mistuhide: the spy
Tumblr media
Aka the rat
Mistuhide is a double agent working for Nobunaga, on his own terms
He’s a spy within the government’s police force, and nobody has caught him yet
Tells Nobunaga about any upcoming busts and when and where they’re gonna go, who they’re going to investigate and go after, basically all information on cases that may affect him
Very good at hiding his tracks- it’s almost impossible to get this guy
Also very good at swaying his coworkers and even bosses- tells them whether or not to pursue a case or person, acknowledge evidence, and even do something for him
He started out as an assassin for hire before becoming an informant for Nobunaga, which is the foundation for the distrust Hideyoshi has on him
Coupled with the fact that he’s easily a manipulative and cunning bastard, you’ve got someone who is a valuable asset but you can’t help but wonder when he’ll turn his back on you
He’s actually the son of a very rich man who had many wives and concubines; growing up, his father’s other wives would try to kill him using any tactic they could, so he developed quickly some skills that children shouldn’t have learned
He knows when food and drinks are poisoned, when someone is trying to ambush you, and when someone is lying- and this was before any formal training for an assassin
Because of his talent with blades and smaller guns, he’s the one Nobunaga sends out most of the time to kill someone and make it seem like an accident
Teams up with Masamune to annoy Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu (sometimes)
He once went undercover with Hideyoshi- the teasing was unfiltered and hard. Hideyoshi kept yelling at him to please stop, we have a fuckinh mission to do and you making me flustered will not make this any less difficult.
He honestly just lives to see people annoyed/embarrassed lmao
Used to tease Ieyasu a lot before Masamune came and essentially replaced him
Mitsuhide’s reasons for joining Nobunaga’s faction still remains a mystery, and he’d like to keep it that way
Tokugawa Ieyasu: the doctor
Tumblr media
Why is there no yellow
The underground doctor who works for Nobunaga, Ieyasu has plenty of knowledge and experience despite his young age
At first, you’d think he isn’t a doctor at all- he‘s rough, not exactly friendly, and easily irritated; which is exactly what makes him so good at his job
As an underground doctor, Ieyasu’s primary job is to salvage whatever unfortunate soul had been injured at the time- sometimes, it’d be much, much more than one person
He can’t afford to let his emotions get to him and slow him down, so he’s learned to repress his emotions and completely focus on his job instead
Also, he can’t be like a traditional doctor because he’s dealing with criminals here- and with his pretty face, not everyone’s gonna take him seriously if he offers the usual caring doctor attitude
Ieyasu grew up in a wealthy family before being kidnapped and sold in the black market as a child, abused within the system and eventually ended up in an old doctor’s hands
The old doctor would basically take him on as an apprentice and told him all his medical knowledge, urging him to follow in his footsteps before he died
When the doctor did die, Ieyasu continued his medical studies and attended several schools and universities before going off the grid completely
Years later he was found in a back alley market (think the black market from beastars) by non other than Nobunaga, who he saved from some thugs (or at least tried to)
Because of his work as a doctor, he often forgets to really take a rest and goes days without sleeping and living off spicy ramen noodles
It’s gotten so bad at one point that Masamune (who buys the noodles for him regularly) actually confiscated all of them and demanded Ieyasu be given a day off (he can’t have tease him if he’s dead!)
Speaking of Masamune, they met after the ‘eyepatch wearing idiot’ came into his clinic after a particularly grueling gun fight with the police
He’s kind of thankful for Masamune- Ieyasu would still have to deal with Mitsuhide and that guy gets on his nerves the quickest, if Masamune didn’t take his spot lmao
He has a little pet porcupine at home, and he sometimes sticks him in the chest pocket of his doctor’s coat whenever he knows he’s gonna spend days at his clinic
Don’t let his pretty looks fool you; mans learned many combat skills from Masamune including how to absolutely murder people with guns
Ishida Mitsunari: the hacker
Tumblr media
From how sweet and kind he looks he definitely does not look like part of the Yakuza
Like, he looks like he belongs in a classroom teaching kids, not in a computer room hacking government files
Extremely skilled hacker- he can get any information from anywhere and leave no trace
Is the main source of information for Nobunaga
Mitsunari was the son of a college professor, and spent most of his time reading in the school library when his father took him to his lectures
Pretty soon he found himself loving computers and tinkering with them, eventually leading to him hacking some minor websites
Fat forward a couple of years and his curious nature doesn’t stop, leading to him discovering some secret files/tapes of Nobunaga’s faction
He left a clear enough trace that he was easily tracked down and almost killed; however, Nobunaga saw some potential in him and decided to give him a choice between dying or joining them (not much of a choice there buddy)
He joined in his late teens, so he’s never really experienced what life was like (thanks Nobunaga)
Nonetheless, he’s actually pretty terrifying when he’s angry
With his demeanor, you’d think he wouldn’t have a mean bone in his body- wrong
Being in the yakuza at a young age, he’s seen some shit and learned some shit- and he’s even tried some of them
Many people have spited him, thinking he’s a doormat
Mitsunari does not let that fly
People underestimate how much he can ruin their lives through the computer screen- financial ruin, a hard hit to reputations, etc
He rarely if ever does that though, most of the time he’d just brush it off and continue what he’s doing (unless it escalates then you’re fucked lmao Mitsudarki come thru)
Mitsunari’s really good with kids, so often times the higher ups or other members leave their kids or pets with him because even if he is booked for work, he still takes stellar care of them
Gets teased by Mitsuhide often, but doesn’t get what he’s saying most of the time
Is heavily opposed to killing- he’d much rather talk it through with someone or ruin their life rather than taking it
Uggghhhhh this took so long but I love these little shits so it was worth it 😤😤 they’re so pretty wth-

Hi!!! May I ask for hc for Ikesen characters (your choice! But please do include Kenshin) reacting to a MC who hates using chopsticks? (Cuz she's half Japanese half English and her whole life she's used to just forks and knives)~~~ I love your blog!!! Yay~~~
Hi hi, love! Thank you so much for the request!❤🌻 Awww u are so sweet and kind *hugs*😆 Lol, I am also super bad at using chopsticks and would 100% choose a knife and fork over chopstick any day of the week, to spare me the embarrassment of not actually being able to use them hehe!😳😳 Anyways hope you enjoy this love and i hope you have a good day! ❤❤
Headcanon: MC that hates using chopsticks feat: Kenshin and Mitsuhide
Kenshin
You had never eaten with Kenshin before
(◕‸ ◕✿)
The two of you cuties have been in a relationship for all of three months now and somehow you had managed to avoid eating in front of your beloved God of War ( ̄ω ̄)
For you see you had a secret ꈍ .̮ ꈍ
One that you were low key pretty embarrassed about, and it was that you couldn’t for the life of you, use chopsticks (*ノωノ)
You low key blamed your parents, even though your family was part Japanese, you had adapted more to your more English roots in using knives and forks 🍴
You dramatically clenched your fist in the air, “Dammit mom and dad, what am I going to do tonight, thanks to you guys I’m ganna embarrass myself in front of my lover and some fancy visiting princess.”
(ノ#--)ノ\。゜。
You fell back onto your futon and covered your face with your pillow (/ε\*)
Perhaps it was time to come clean (っ´ω`c)
You rested your eyes for what felt like a second, when you heard a knock at the door (๑ᵕ⌓ᵕ̤)
Sasuke had come to get you for the evening’s banquet |・x・`)
You stared at him in disbelief and looked out the window, “Just how long did you sleep.” (´-εヾ )
You groaned as you quickly got ready for the banquet
You had taken your rightful place beside the love of your life which had now perked up since your arrival (✪‿✪)ノ
The two of you chatted and laughed, and was legit having the best time
that was until the food was placed in front of you (ᇴ‿ฺᇴ)
You sheepishly picked up the chopsticks and tried your best to pick up the braised piece of pork, but as you carried it to your mouth, it fell down and landed straight on your lap ʕ⊙ᴥ⊙ʔ
You looked around nervously to see if anyone had noticed, thankfully not
You tried again, ending in the same result
(╯ಠ_ಠ)╯︵ ┳━┳
At this point, the visiting princess was definitely sending a judging look your way, and you knew exactly what she was thinking, as she gave you a smirk * Lord Kenshin could never love a fool like her, look she cant even use chopsticks* (¬‿¬)
Kenshin notice the look of distress on your face and the pieces of pork that had fallen in your lap now staining your light blue kimono ⚆ _ ⚆
He gave you one of his bright dazzling smile and pulled you into his arms to sit you down on his lap (。◕‿◕。)
“What is the matter love,”  he asked as he nuzzled your cheek
Worry and love for you filled the bunny warlords eyes (◕⍸ ◕✿)
“I-I-I I don’t know how to use chopsticks, I grew up using knives and forks, so I never learned how to eat using them” you squeezed your eyes shut and clenched your hands in tight fists
 (/≧ω\)
This is it, Kenshin was going to dump you in front of all these people
‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥ )‧º·˚
That’s when you suddenly heard Kenshin lightly chuckle ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ )
You cracked open one of your eyes only to see Kenshin kiss the tip of your nose, “Is that all, then I shall teach you.” (✿◠‿◠)
He gave you his chopsticks and placed his hands over yours, he then all while guiding you, brought a piece of the pork to your mouth
(•‾⌣‾•)و
You took a small bite, while breaking out into the biggest blush
(*≧∀≦*)
Just then, one of Kenshin's fluff balls jumped up onto your lap and stole one of the chopstick straight out of your hand, the other bunnies saw this, and another one hoped up to the two of you and stole the other one
(ㅇㅅㅇ❀) (≖ᴗ≖✿)
You were shook, the only ones in the castle who had known your secret were the bunnies, that’s when Umi hopped up to you and dropped a small pouch in your lap (≖ᴗ≖✿)
The bunny then pushed your hand with his little nose as if urging you to open it (ㆁᴗㆁ✿)
Kenshin looked at the whole scene unfold curiously and before you could pick up the brown pouch, Kenshin grabbed hold of it and looked inside (人◕ω◕)
He pulled out the contents and to reveal a silver knife and fork, the ones you had been using since arriving at the castle, gifted to you by the Oda forces who teased you heavily for your dislike in using chopsticks  🍴
Kenshin chuckled and handed them over to you, “Seems like the bunnies have revealed your secret”
You continued to sit in his lap, and the two of you happily shared the meal (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
No one dare say a thing about you using a knife and fork to dine, otherwise, they would have an adorable mad fluffy army after them, a lesson that was learned the hard way ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
As when the visiting princess started loudly mocking you, your army of fluff pounced on her (;一_一)
No one dare disrespect their beloved princess and get away with it
Since that day you and Kenshin often dined together, the fear and embarrassment long-forgotten (っ˘ڡ˘ς)
He would eat with chopsticks, and you would eat with your knives and forks \ (•◡•) /
And the bunnies would steal the vegetables of your plates and cuddle with you two cuties as you ate
Mitsuhide
During one of your princess lessons you and Mitsuhide sat and ate together (・∧‐)ゞ
The kitsune eyed you curiously as you went to your handbag to retrieve a plastic knife and fork wrapped in a napkin (ᇴ‿ฺᇴ)
“Little mouse might I ask just what you are doing.”  ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ )
“Same as you, eating obviously.” (≖ᴗ≖✿)
Mitsuhide smirked as he watched you continue your meal (─‿‿─)
This sneki boy found it incredibly interesting that you never once used chopsticks when you ate, and it seemed that your magical bag, had contained a limitless amount of these strange other eating utensils ≧☉_☉≦
“Little mouse may I ask you a question,” he asked in the middle of one of your lessons on economics, you rolled your eyes and nodded almost predicting what he was going to ask
(;一_一)
“I have noticed you do not use chopstick when you dine, is there a particular reason for that.” (・ω・`)………..
“I just really HATE, using them, plus I never really learned considering I grew up using a knife and fork.” 乁( ⁰͡  Ĺ̯ ⁰͡ ) ㄏ
Mitsuhide nodded thoughtfully and then continued on with the lesson
A few days later he came into your room carrying an array of food, courtesy of Masamune ლ(•ω •ლ)
“Your next princes lesson little mouse will be, how to eat using chopsticks”, you groaned you really didn’t want to (¬_¬)
“Mother dearest will scold you for 3 days if you attend tomorrows banquet without knowing how to use these” (¬‿¬)
It was the longest lesson of your life and by the end of it instead of learning how to use chopstick you had actually convinced Mitsuhide about all the benefits of not using chopsticks
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
The next day at the banquet, your lesson had paid off and you were successfully eating with your hated chopsticks (ლ ^ิ౪^ิ)ლ
You turned to Mitsuhide to show him how well his lessons had paid off when you spotted something in his hands ⊙0⊙
Is that a… SPOON (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
It seems the sneki snek had raided you bag ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
You walked your way over to the kitsune and loomed over him “Well well well and what do we have here” you narrowed your eyes at Mitsuhide as you took a seat beside him ಠ⌣ಠ
“It seems, mouse, you were correct in your use in this strange cutlery, I find it most amusing, and efficient” He demonstrated by scooping up a large helping of his mixed together meal and popped it in his mouth
“Princess were you the one that introduced lord Mitsuhide to this wonderful contraption,” Across from you and Mitsu, Mitsunari beamed as he too was eating with your stolen knife and fork
“Told you, they are great,” you said with a triumphant grim  (。◕‿◕。)
He returned the smile and handed you over a gift ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
You carefully unwrapped the present and you couldn’t help but beam when you saw what was inside 。◕‿◕。
A SILVER CUTLERY SET! (◕▿◕✿)
He had visited the western traders earlier that day with Nobunaga and spotted it in one of the shops
The two of you now sat together and ate your banquet dinner with the silverware although your happy victory was short-lived, as soon the mother hen descended upon the two of you
“Just what do you think you are doing, why are you using those strange things to eat” (ʘᗩʘ')
You smiled and handed your fork over to Hideyoshi “cause it’s waaaay easier and quicker to eat like this” (≖︿≖✿)
He carefully took the fork from your hand, picked up some stewed vegetables and brought it to Mitsunari's lips to feed him, he was in one of his book trances
Mitsunari opened his mouth and took a bite of the food, Hideyoshi narrowed his eyes he can't deny that this was slightly easier...  (ᇴ‿ฺᇴ)
Since that day you had managed to convert the Oda forces to occasionally eat with knives and forks (◠‿◠✿)
I hope you enjoyed! And I hope you have a super good day! 😆🌻❤

This was getting beyond a joke. Every breath was agony, something clawing at her throat and pulling on her lungs like they were a set of bagpipes. Lack of oxygen meant every minor ache and pain suddenly sparked throughout her body a thousand times worse.
She tried to move only to be hit with a blinding pressure pain buried somewhere behind her eyes making her wonder who planted an axe there. Sleep was desired and never came. Endless exhaustion added to the melee of things that now just made up a list as long as she was tall for what was wrong.
Duvets, blankets and pillows clung around her like a nest. Somehow, she had managed to crawl into bed. Medication hadn’t worked the way it should, it hadn’t worked at all. She groaned against the faint light creeping into the bedroom from the curtains and became aware of something loud enough to shake the gates of Hell.
“Ugh… not now.” She grumbled and tried to bunch the pillows up around her ears but the hammering didn’t stop. “Fine, not like I can sleep anyway.”
She peeled back the layers of comfort and dragged her body as close to vertical as she could muster. Using the wall to steady herself, as well as any furniture along the way, she slowly made it to the front door. Her fingers fumbled against the lock. The bolt slid back and the door cracked open.
“This had better be good. I put off dying to be here.” Before she could even focus on who had come to call on her, the door was pushed wide. A set of strong arms wrapped her up in a bone-crushing hug driving what little air she had in her body out along with her ability to stand under her own strength. “Oof!”
“Naiya! Thank god you answered I was this close to kicking in the door.” The familiar comforting voice of one of her usually level-headed boyfriends sounded muffled from her position against his broad chest.
“Yoshi mate, you might want to ease up on the whole bear hug before you really have a need to worry.” Masa reached out with one hand ruffling her hair as he reminded Hideyoshi of a human’s requirement to breathe. “Sorry Lass. I brought food.”
Masa held up two bags he had in his free hand giving them a light shake before brushing past her and Hideyoshi to get into the house.
“I can see that. I thought you guys had a key for here anyway?” She couldn’t really focus on what was happening but was really trying to follow along.
“We do but someone left it in the bowl back at ours.” Masa called out from the kitchen. She could hear the bags being emptied along with the thud and clink of produce being laid out on the counter.
“If you hadn't distracted me before we left, I wouldn’t have forgotten to grab it from the bowl in the first place.” Hideyoshi grumbled his arms releasing their tight hold as he chided Masa.
“How was I distracting you? I was trying to think of things to get from the store on the way over. It was your idea to get the key bowl anyway.” Masa appeared again a teasing grin on his face before changing his voice to give his best impersonation of Hideyoshi. “Can’t just have keys hanging around we need some order in the place.”
“You kept asking if I thought today was a cheat day or not. And I do not sound like that!” Hideyoshi sounded exasperated and a little embarrassed. He was normally the reliable one so forgetting something like the key to their girlfriend’s house proved he was worried.
“Well, it makes a difference to Kitten.” Masa chirped back.
“Hey guys as much as I enjoy the Saturday night live experience, I’m just gonna let you do your things and crawl back into my pit.” She tried to remove herself from the loud, all be it amusing, interaction. It was taking a lot more strength than first imagined to remain upright and she didn’t want to worry them anymore.
“Hold up.” Hideyoshi reached out and grabbed her as she swayed on her feet. Apparently urging herself to try to move forward had failed. His attention left Masa and was now completely focused on her. One of his large hands swept back her bangs as he inspected her. “I knew it, you’re sick.”
“I’m not sick. I am perfectly healthy for a bag of infested, cursed… you know what? I can’t even be bothered finishing that.” Hideyoshi’s hand felt cool against her face which was enough to tell her she was probably running a slight temperature. Great if there was one thing I don’t need right now; it’s my whole system shutting down with some weird bug.
Naiya silently hoped that whatever was happening was just a result of her failed meds. A nasty side effect from inhalers or something not clearing her airways.
“You really look pale, Lass.” Masa came to join them. His piercing blue eye peered out from under his hair and began to rove over every inch of exposed skin she had.
Hideyoshi’s inspection was one thing. It made you feel like you were being wrapped up as he softly moved over you. Masa’s inspection was just as caring but wilder in its execution. If one man was good at making her feel bound, the other was good at making her feel exposed. Between one kind of smothering and the other, it was impossible to hide anything from these two.
“You haven’t been looking after yourself, have you? I told you not to work too hard.” Hideyoshi huffed, the furrow of his brow becoming deeper as if he were the one suffering a splitting headache and not her.
Sensing the start of one of the dreaded lectures on observing better self-care Naiya wriggled in Hideyoshi’s grip freeing herself. She then attempted to sidestep Masa who had moved in a pincer movement to keep her in place without touching.
“It’s not a question of working too hard Yoshi. Its allergy season and my damn meds are useless. With everything going on I can’t go into work, I got told to rest.” In her flurry of explanations designed to defend herself, she could feel whatever little energy she had failing her with every word.
The room felt like it was spinning and she ended up finding herself steadied with a strong arm from Masa as he wrapped it around her waist.
“So naturally you didn’t.” Masamune was still smiling but she could tell by his tone even he was concerned. His gaze really was stripping away at her masks. As fast as she put one in place, he was there to remove it piece by piece.
“Hey what is this gang up on the sick person?” She batted at Masa’s chest that was ever so slightly visible under his black shirt. In a moment of clearer breathing, the smell of his own natural scent mixed with the spices and soap he used at work hit her stronger than they normally would.
“You just said you weren’t sick.” Hideyoshi pointed out the flaw in her exasperated argument.
“I’m changing my mind if it means I got two fussing mother types crowding me.” She didn’t so much manage to break free of Masa’s grip as he backed her up against the sofa and allowed gravity to work its magic. Her legs gave out with very little effort and she bounced on the cushioned seating feeling the lurch of her body reacting in a sickening wake up call.
“Right here’s how its gonna work Kitten.” Masa said as he crouched down at her side and held her hand. Making sure she was focused on what he was about to say before continuing. “I’m gonna go in the kitchen and cook dinner for three. You are gonna eat however much of it you can and I’ll turn the leftovers into meals you can eat over the next few days. I’ll even make a big pot of chicken soup for you.”
“With dumplings?” She knew she sounded like a child right now but dammit if someone else cooking meals for her and preparing them so she just had to reheat them later didn’t sound like a slice of Heaven.
“Sure, with dumplings if that’s what you want.” Masamune chuckled and began to ruffle up her hair. She hated to think how bad it looked but it felt nice to feel his touch.
“While that is happening. I’m going to run you a nice refreshing bath and you will soak in there while I tidy up a bit.” Hideyoshi said as he bent down to pick something up off the floor and she could already tell from the way he was looking around the room that he was silently appraising the lack of housekeeping.
“Hey just so you know I haven’t been home much and—”
“You said you weren’t going into work!” Hideyoshi pivoted on the spot, discarded magazines and papers in hand making him look like he had begun to sprout wings.
“Oops.” She became defensive and inadvertently put her foot right in it.
“Don’t ‘Oops’ me, Madam. I was right to be worried about you. When we hadn’t heard from you in the last couple of days I just knew --.”
“Hahaha, you tell her Bud.” Masa applauded with a slow clap as he laughed.
Masa had been practically vibrating attempting to hold back the laughter while watching Hideyoshi as he flapped around. It didn’t take a genius to work out why. The papers in his arms really did look like feathers when he moved.
“Masa you are not helpful.” Naiya was struggling to hold back a fit of giggles as well. His laughter was contagious and it didn’t help that Hideyoshi seemed to have transformed into the mother hen he was always teased of being.
“Little kittens that are as weak as you at the minute can’t complain. Now go along with Yoshi and his mothering while I go sort out food. I’ll even help with the housework while it's heating up.” Masa dragged her forward on the sofa so he could plant a loud kiss on her forehead before leaving the room again to vanish into the kitchen.
“Fine.”
*
It took the entire time the bath was running for Hideyoshi to finally calm down enough to take in what had been happening without butting in with ‘I told you so’ or ‘Why didn’t you call me?’. He checked the meds she had taken and called someone who sounded grumpy enough to be Ieyasu.
Steam, taking time out and sleep. That was what he ordered alongside the bath to get cleaned up and generally try to relax in. It wasn’t anything she hadn’t already heard from others and sleep was harder to come by than they all made it sound. Logically she knew they were right, if she could sleep some of what she felt would clear but her lungs we against it.
The water was just the right temperature with clusters of candles lit around the bathroom and fragrant bubbles popping against her skin. Too bad her nose was so blocked in the humid atmosphere she couldn’t really enjoy the whole sensory experience.
Laying there submerged in the hot water she heard the two men moving around her home. She wasn’t worried they were both so good at domestic stuff it put her to shame more often than not. She was only feeling guilty that she had caused them to worry so much.
As she breathed in and out, she willed her lungs to stop that rasping rattle she had come to associate with trying to live. Asthma, allergies… what were you supposed to do if most of the environment you lived it was hell-bent on killing you?
After about 10 minutes soaking it felt like some humanity had started to return to her. She wasn’t magically fixed but the warmth of the water had managed to regulate her own internal thermostat and she was at least a normal temperature again.
She slipped down so her shoulders went under the waterline and tilted her head back to get her hair wet. While her head was under the water, her ears picked up a muffled noise and pulled herself up just in time to see a panicked Hideyoshi rushing to her side from the now open bathroom door.
“Naiya, are you alright? I knew I shouldn’t have left you for so long in the bath when you are not well.” His hands brushed back her wet hair from her face and she was thankful for the bubbles in the tub giving her a veil of decency.
“I’m fine. I was just getting my hair wet.”
As she scrambled to grab the bottle of shampoo it was plucked from her wet grip.
“I’ll wash it for you.” Hideyoshi didn’t sound as if he were treating this like a chore. Still, it felt a little strange to have this happening and she found herself naturally trying to decline the offer.
“You don’t have too I’m fine.”
“You just gave me a mini heart attack. Let me.”
The cap popping open felt like it was echoing in the room. She watched the viscous liquid pour from the bottle and coat his hands.  His hands softly covered the crown of her head and she closed her eyes against the heavenly sensation of his fingers working in circles and patterns over her scalp. The sound of foam squelched near her ears sending a tingle up her spine.
Callused fingers, softened by the warm water, brushed softly over the shell of her ears. Following her hairline to her nape and then returning back up to the crown again. He lightly rinsed his hands in the water before easing her lower, carefully supporting her head on one arm as he rinsed her hair free of the soap with a small jug.
Naiya’s eyes opened to see her dreamy, blissed-out expression reflected in his soft caramel gaze.
“There now all better?” He asked while kneeling at the side of the bath. The last of the suds from her hair ran freely over his bare arms highlighting the lines of toned muscle.
“Y-yes.” She stuttered. She had been sure her temperature had returned to normal until her overactive imagination began to take over. Drawing lines and connections in a game of dot to dot with little encouragement that only served to fuel a fire in her cheeks.
“That’s my girl. I left your towels here but if you want, I can help you get out?” He got up and paused at the door waiting for her reply.
“No, I should be fine.” The bubbles in the bath were nearly depleted as they fought against the soap of the shampoo. She was becoming aware again of her own vulnerability.
“Ok. I’ll just be the other side of the door so don’t struggle if you can’t manage.” He was still worrying.
“I’m feeling a bit better I can…” She trailed off. Acting tough was not going to work when he had already seen her looking rough as hell. She forced herself to meet his eyes and nod. “Fine, I’ll call if I need you.”
“Good girl. Take your time.” Hideyoshi either didn’t notice the budding embarrassment or he was being too much of a gentleman to call her on it.
She was thankful to the bath for giving her skin an all-over flush, masking a lot of her give away blushing response to him. The door shut and she could hear Masamune shout up the stairs.
“Grubs up!”
*
She pushed herself a little too much to get dressed quickly so as not to keep them both waiting. When she returned downstairs. She was wheezing and trying to hide the fact she was once more in pain with her lungs rattling in her ears.
“Here Lass sit down before you fall down.” Masa joked but he was clearly trying to care for her without making it into a big thing.
Her back sunk into the sofa cushions as her eyes fell on the spread of food that was laid out on the coffee table. She hated her nose right now because if looks were anything to go by the food would have smelt divine.
“What is all this?”
“Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner… Supper.” Masa indicated all the different dishes like he was on a game show before giving a shrug as if to say it was all no big deal.
“If you were gonna cook all this why bother asking if today was a cheat day or not?” Hideyoshi came in carrying a big jug of water, slices of orange and lemon floating under a layer of ice. Placing it on a side table where some glasses were and took a seat next to her on the sofa.
“Hey, Cheat days are Cheat days only when you are healthy enough to be on a diet. When you are sick you should eat whatever you can and whatever you feel like so you can get strong again and continue to fight those pesky calorie demons.” Masa defended his cooking taking a seat on the other side of her.
“Haha, I like your logic there, Master Chef.” She giggled even more at Masa’s comments because of the huffy look that was now gracing Hideyoshi’s face. She shouldn’t take joy in him being put out but she didn’t have the energy to tell herself that.
“Why thank you.” Masa bumped shoulders with her grinning.
She once more found her mind wandering in a fog of fantasy as she registered the fact, she was the filling to this comforting boyfriend sandwich. As distractions from ill-health went it could have been a lot worse.
“However flawed it may be.” A tall tumbler of iced water appeared like a cold wedge between them as Hideyoshi passed out drinks.
“Yeah well, I’m sure the whole idea of wrapping Kitten up in bubble wrap thing is also a flawless plan.” Masa accepted the glass giving a teasing side-eye to the sandy-haired worrywart.
“Alright enough of that. Let’s eat before all this good stuff goes to waste eh?” Aware that something was about to kick off Naiya raised her voice to prevent Hideyoshi snapping back with what was no doubt going to be the start of something very witty that meant the friendly disagreement would continue till all the food was stone cold.
She regretted her words quickly as now both men had shut up and started a silent war. They pressed closer to her than necessary the feeling of being in a comfortable sandwich was becoming a distant memory. She wasn’t allowed to plate anything for herself and found her own dish filling up with bits of everything as the silent battle of caregiving continued.
Her body objected to the sudden influx of food and her stomach lurched. Eyes should not be allowed to pass judgement on what you put in your belly. As hungry as she had been it was also a while since she had eaten anything in this volume. She wanted to curse her upbringing for conditioning her to the fact that it was both rude to the cook and a waste of food to call it quits in the middle of a meal.
Sensing something was wrong with her both men stopped serving more of the dishes. Their intonations of ‘if you eat that you have to have this with it’ and ‘a balanced meal is important if you wish to get healthy’ died as they both exchanged glances over her.
“You alright Kitten?” Masa quietly asked his hand touching hers.
“Yeah.” Naiya nodded and regretted moving her head at all. She slipped her hand from Masa’s and without sparing the men a glance she left the room headed straight for the bathroom.
*
Naiya returned to the living room after freshening up. The harshness of the mint in the toothpaste felt a little sharp against her tongue but it was better than leaving things as they were.
The room had been completely cleared of any signs of the meal. Candles had been lit which meant the bright light from any lightbulbs was not going to cause her any issues. The DVD player had also been set up to play a movie.
All of the cushions had been dragged from the sofa to the floor making it look like a mattress had landed on the rug.  The coffee table was missing but it did look like all her blankets and duvet had been artfully arranged so her previous nest now looked like a luxurious retreat.
“You’re back.” Hideyoshi came in carrying two cups with Masa trailing close at his heels with a third cup of steaming liquid and a plate of something sweet.
“Here Lass try sipping this it will help.” The warmth of ginger spread through her mouth rounded out by calming honey. “Sorry kinda went a little far before.”
He didn’t avoid her eyes but the sincerity in his voice warmed her more than the drink.
“It’s fine I should have said no but I just couldn’t when everything was so good.”
“Careful there Kitten, you’re gonna start giving a fella ideas talking all seductive like.” Masa’s voice was a low purr against her ear, his wild chestnut brown hair brushed against her cheek igniting her blush further.
He brought one of the sweet treats from the plate to her mouth the softness of the dough melted against her tongue replacing the mint and ginger with a buttery sugar spice.
“Churros?”
“Masa we agreed.” Hideyoshi reprimanded.
Masa pulled back with a playful smile as he licked his own lips. He had a way of looking like a hungry predator ready to pounce and nothing seemed to trigger that more than watching her enjoying his food.
“Yeah, Yeah. C’mere Kitten we got something special for you.” He took her by the hand leading her to the spread of cushions carefully taking her cup from her while she settled into position and then handed it back.
“You have a way of making things sound dirty even if they aren’t. I do wonder if you haven’t been hanging around a certain white-haired friend too long.” She smirked taking another sip of her drink.
Her spirited tease had a thrill that was short-lived. She could feel Hideyoshi move in behind her and sit on the frame of the cushionless sofa.  Her shoulders became encased in the space between his legs as he planted a foot either side of her.
Before she could ask what he was doing, his hands wrapped over her shoulders his fingers moving in circles. The flexing pressure of his grip as the heel of his hand came into play smoothing out the knots, he found almost had her drop her cup.
“Oops! Careful there Kitten, you are already sick you don’t want to get burnt on top of all that.”
The cup was once more liberated from her failing grip while soft sighs and little moans crept out of her mouth. Masa positioned himself at her feet taking one in his hands and began copying Hideyoshi’s movements as he focused on massaging her feet.
Every now and then her leg was raised just enough to let Masa’s fingers travel past the point of her ankle and find the tension trapped in her legs. Every time she felt the release of the stressful tension, he brought his lips to the spot and trailed kisses along it.
She gasped each time he did this. His upturned blue eye was dilated to the point of stormy and his chuckle left vibrations against her skin. The pressure on her shoulders and neck tightened in her response. Hideyoshi was not to be outdone or ignored at times like this. His gentleness could be torture when used correctly and this man was a master at that.
Hideyoshi’s hands slipped to her arms before moving back to her neck and travelling down her spine until they found that sweet spot in her lower back. The one that caused her to arch against his palm as her body reacted instinctively to the pleasure of his touch.
Attacked from two sides at once the little moans became louder as she felt her body begin to hum with affection being lavished on her. Tension, aches, pains they all seemed to melt right out of her as her body temperature rose to a comfortable heat.
They only stopped when she looked as if she were on the verge of breathlessness. It felt like she had just been the victim of a huge tease but it was clear that this was the line neither men were going to cross until she was stronger.
Her body became the filling once more in a boyfriend sandwich. Masa’s arm draped around her shoulders his hand landing on Hideyoshi’s shoulder where it began to play with the gap between his shirt and bare flesh. Hideyoshi cast a glance his way but said nothing to put an end to it.
Dropping her head onto Hideyoshi’s chest Naiya could hear his heartbeat pattering out a private salsa in his body. She smiled knowing that the two guys had made up after their silly little spat.
“Ready for the movie now Princess?” Hideyoshi clicked play on the remote and the opening sequence for Nightmare Before Christmas started.
“Oh my—you got me another copy!?” Naiya snapped back up between the two men eyes sparkling as she watched the screen.
Whether she knew it or not she was moving her body ever so slightly in time with the music which only made her boyfriends chuckle behind her.
“Couldn’t have you without your beloved movie, now could we?” Masa smiled as his hand was removed from Hideyoshi’s neck.
“If we couldn’t do at least this much we aren’t really living up to the title of your men, now are we?” Hideyoshi laced his fingers with Masa's, planting a biting kiss to the back of his hand before releasing it.
The teasing going on behind her did little to break her concentration on the movie. Each man reached out with one hand to drag her back down into the space between them.
Hideyoshi’s long legs stretched out on the cushions, his feet wrapping with Masamune’s while her shorter legs balanced over the top of both of them.
It wasn’t a miraculous cure and she knew that all she had been feeling would at some point find her again. Right now though she was content. Wrapped up in the arms of two of her greatest loves, Naiya’s eyes fluttered shut. The warmth from both men seeping into her with the music on the DVD acting as a lullaby. That was when the sleep she craved finally took her.
