For starters, MadaIzu. Like, ofc we didn't have much of them shown but a) Uchiha is incest anyway and I will stand by it and b) Izuna was shown to be the only one that stood next to Madara. Nobody, literally almost nobody in this series could ever achieve that, no matter how willing one was - and Izuna was, I assume, entirely here for Madara. Maybe even was one of few people that thought about him, maybe even had him wrapped around his little finger and Madara would do a lot for his little bro. Man.

MadaObi. WHERE DO I EVEN START like I feel like I am going crazy when I start thinking about it. They are connected on so many fields, Obito being his descendant, Madara getting his body, stitching it together (man, there was that one fantastic art with old madara and obito.... doing precisely that), literally putting his hands on this boy's heart and sealing it (POETRY), brainwashing into becoming himself and later using Obito for all his worth, giving him life and choosing when to take it away, and Obito starting to resists like jfc my brainworms. I like them both as also shit jiji and bratty mago. THEY ARE JUST SO GOOD FUCKKKKKKKK I AM GNAWING AT MY HOODIE LIKE A RABID ANIMAL AAAAAA

HashiMada. That's all. Although... I like it a bit darker, not in means of whump and such but I can't help but thing that Hashirama unknowingly stumbled on something that swallowed both of them. Hashirama may have best interests in heart, but he isn't a good person, and Madara... Madara has his own issues. More below.

MadaTobi is nice. I always found it hilarious how similar they are and yet so different, and I like to think that's why they are so appealing together. Those two are not alright but maybe that's why they could have a relationship that would be akin to watching a slow hurricane in a distance. Gorgeous but pity everyone in its path. Those lads have mental issues but both are crazy scientists, and both are prickly cats, yanno?

Everything. love him a lot. Has been obsessed with him since my first watch of the playthrough almost four years ago. There's nothing you can do about liking him you just have to accept it. But I think I can say that I especially like the way he's written

the way fandom treats him. It's super rare to see someone interpret him normally, without falling into either "uwu soft baby who did nothing wrong" or "insane freak without a sense of morality who loves to commit arson for the fun of it". I think his behavior in the prologue of sdr2 is the most accurate version of him

Discussing the good and bad of Pokémon Journeys: Part “Goh”

Oh boi... this part is gonna be a doozy. Because I have a lot to talk about Goh, or as I tend to call him, Gou.

TLDR; I like Gou as a character but I very, very much have issues with the way he's currently written in the show. And that frustrates me deeply as I'd love to feel more positively about him. More under the cut, with Journeys abverted as JN.

Where do I even begin... Maybe by how I first became a fan of Gou's character, by after some time started to go back to neutral ground.

Like, ever since the very first episode, we've got a very clear picture of what kind of character Gou is: a bookworm, loves Pokémon, loves to show his knowledge and isn't exactly good at making friends. His only friend before Satoshi (and before learning about Tokio/Horace's reasonings for not showing up to their meeting place) was Chloe/Koharu, and we still don't know how the two met. Thou my guess is that their childhood friendship bonded over their parents meeting during some job or by Koharu feeling the need to be Gou's friend. Who knows, it's something I want to learn about. But that's besides the point, cough.

But like, from the very first episode on, it became clear that this show wants to focus on Gou, and telling his journey on becoming a Pokémon Trainer who wants to catch all of the Pokémon in the World, in order to get closer to catching Mew, the mythical Pokémon who's said to contain DNA of all existing Pokémon. He had a very strong introduction arc, with showing his dynamic with Koharu, having him meet Satoshi on top of Lugia, first getting to know Satoshi (and Rockets) and then catching his first partner Pokémon in Hibunny. However, as time went on and episodes started piling up, I started feeling like something about him was... off.

I feel like the first time I had an issue with the writing involving him was in JN006, where he went on his first catching spree. Where he kept catching Pokémon with ease. Small struggle at the start when trying to work together his dynamic with Hibunny, but the rest of the ep felt way too easy. Then again, Gou IS flat out Pokémon GO promotion. No one can deny that. His purpose is to promote GO's capture mechanic. It is the most successful Pokémon Mobile game of all time.

Anyway, the easy captures piled up on and on til JN010 when he finally had to use dozens of pokeballs to catch one. single. Dewgong. I loved this so much. It made me feel more at ease with his goal mechanic and I felt like I'd be fine with him from there on out. And I was. Til I started having new issues with him. All thanks to Satoshi's new goal in PWC finally having been established.

As time went on, it became clearer and clearer, that Gou was more focused on when it came to his goal progression, development in character level, and in what kind of quality his episodes would be.

Everyone knows how much I love JN032. Everyone does. It's one of my absolute fav episodes in the series. However, it also kinda is what first prompted me starting my worry that hasn't gone away since then: That Gou feels more like the protagonist than Satoshi does in this series, and not really an equal dual protag he was advertised to be.

Before the pitchforks are getting aimed at me, hear me out. I know, that based on some statistics, the focus is equal, with sliiiightly more inclinded towards Gou. However, that's where the issue is: Gou has, so far for me, had way better focus and way better episodes in this series, than Satoshi has, while also getting progress on his goal on other character's focus episodes. When Satoshi's episodes have been about PWC and training his Pokémon, Gou's had the kind of episodes that are more character exploring, developing him, evolving him in some way. And it, frustrates me. Because despite my better judgement, it gives me this feeling that Gou is stealing Satoshi's thunder, even when some type of statistics would suggest otherwise. It gives me this feeling that Gou is here to write Satoshi out. I do not like that I feel this way, I don't know how to get rid of this feeling and I hate it here.

Again, I like Gou's character, he's sweet, well developed, and I do enjoy seeing him in his own episodes. But I have come to noticed, than whenever he gets goal progression in an episode that's supposed to focus on Koharu or Satoshi, I feel so.... angry? And I've never, ever felt like this while watching other characters progress. And I know it's irrational.

Like, his main partner's already fully evolved, his secondary partner Sobble is already evolving soon despite only having one focus episode for itself before it, and he's caught all three of the Galar starters now, with some of his other not-that-important Pokémon making appearances every now and then with possible evolution showcases. And it's all done so fast. Same issue was with Satoshi's poketeam evolving in fast arcs, but I forgot to mention about it? But then again, I am somewhat fine with it as I get the writing style is to focus on one 'mon and then move on to another. Which is not to my taste completely but I digress. ANYWAY, back to Gou.

After seeing discussions and joining in on some on tumblr and twitter and elsewhere, it does appear that Gou's development speed and progression speed is incredibly fast. Like, seriously fast. He's caught a lot of Pokémon by now, and the show's already shown about 50% percent of all existing Pokémon in a bit over a year. About 30% being caught by Gou. (Statistics borrowed from EntityMays' Living Dex trackers, links in posts will disrupt showing in tag search so, google EntityMays's Living Dex, and you'll find the statistics there).

This is also very apparent when you think about how fast Gou suddenly became a good battler, when at the beginning he sucked. A lot. I get Satoshi could be a great example on learning how to battle with good strategy in mind, but we barely saw Gou struggle. We Satoshi struggle in OS, so I would have prefered more struggling by Gou. His first battle against a legendary ended up in Zapdos almost getting caught and uuuuuggh, while it's a pretty good episode it really should have been at later point, same with Suicune episode. Thou with the latter I have WAY more issues than just the placement but, I'm not gonna rant about that today.

And what should I say about his dynamics with other characters... They're good, I am a huge fan of how the dynamic between Koharu and Gou works, as their childhood friend dynamic is shown so, so well, and you can just tell the two have mutual respect as Gou gives Koharu the space she needed when she wasn't into Pokémon for a while, and when she then became partners with Eevee, Gou was so so SO darn supportive just, AGH. Love how these two work.

And everyone knows I fell for Gou x Tokio dynamic straight away. Like they had a friendship built up right away when they first met as little kids and Tokio missing out on their promised meeting due to being sick and not having any means of contacting him yes still considered Gou his friend after these years when Gou considered him a traitor of trust and Gou then forgives him for it and just aaaaaahhh-. KRHM. Excuse me.

Then there's Gou and Satoshi's dynamic and I already said in my post about Satoshi how I feel intimidated by the fans of their shipping and how it makes me feel.... kinda sad about not being able to like their dynamic for what it is. I LOVE it a ton. I have said it a countless times, they're a broTP to me. They're dynamic was very enjoyable for me to watch, and even Gou was. But like, on TOP of these issues I mentioned before this part, I also have another issue with Gou: his fanbase, or the crazier part of it.

Often times I feel like I'm unable to enjoy Gou's character without being reminded of the fans who constantly think of him as shipping fuel, or think he's flawless and anyone disagreering is in some form a negative trait filled human being, etc etc etc. In a way, I feel like I'd enjoy Gou and his dynamic with Satoshi way, way more, if I had never learned about this side of the fandom. Let people like their dynamic the way they want. Be it romantic or platonic. Neither is wrong, but pushing one side to push their own headcanon to other people's head is just, bad act. Having this feeling in me has actually made me wonder, whether I would have liked other characters I am such a huge fan of, if I had been watching their shows during their airing times (for example Serena).

Now what would I have done differently with Gou? Firstly, slow the fuck down. I would have prefered to see Hibunny way more. I would have prefered to have one Galar Starter, namely Grookey, go to Satoshi, as it would help me feel less like Gou's stealing his thunder. I would have prefered if Gou and Satoshi's goals were established around same time. I would have very much liked it, if Gou wouldn't be catching Pokémon each episode.

Now what COULD help me like him better from what we have by now? Well. Slow it down. Have him interact with Koharu more. Give him a rival to further make him shine on his own instead of seemingly relying on Satoshi to shine through. Hell, maybe make Tokio his friendly rival. And on top of that, please let him not catch Pokémon almost every single episode. I'd love an episode where he captures some Pokémon that prefers to be free, and he then would let it go. I think that would make his character be good on his own, and make me feel better about him once again.

Cough. I think I've got my point clear. As said, I like Gou, but very much dislike the way he's written in such fast pacing and in a way that, despite statistics stating otherwise, making him feel like he's the sole protag and not sharing spotlight as dual protag. And I hope to god I can get rid of this feeling as the series goes on. Because right now, I don't have high hopes :(

Yes!! I’ve been wanting someone to ask me about Ren or Yu. After typing this though I feel like some of my opinions are kinda controversial 😅

Favorite Thing About Them

This is the question that keeps me from posting these quickly. There are too many things I love about these characters. It’s really hard to pick a favorite thing, so I’ll just talk about one of the many things I love.

Even though we know nothing about his life pre-game and he’s a silent protag, Ren’s still a really unique character while also being a normal, teenage boy. He doesn’t need to be weird or have an intriguing backstory to be interesting. He also feels like he could be a real person. And he’s hilarious.

Least Favorite Thing About Them

He’s mean to Mishima for no reason.

I wish he had more of a backstory. I want to know more about him and his life prior to the game. I think Strikers would have been the best opportunity to give us some more insight on his life, and I was really disappointed when that didn’t happen.

The way some of the fandom sexualizes him is disgusting. He’s a child.

I understand why people ship Shuake. I do not understand how people can say they’re “basically canon.” They’re not. Also, a lot of Shuake content I see portrays Ren as this super fluffy, sensitive, sweet catboy which is weird and so far from who he is. I think he’s portrayed this way to be a contrast to Akechi. I don’t think you should change a character’s personality just to fit your ship better or to create the ship dynamic that you want. Not all content is like this, but I’ve seen a lot of it. Also, also, Ren caring about his friend’s death doesn’t automatically equal romance. Of course, he was sad that Akechi died. They’re friends. Speaking of, Ren’s dream reality wish wasn’t for Akechi to be alive. People who are currently rejecting dream reality don’t get their wishes. We know this because the wishes of everyone else in the party disappeared when they started rejecting it. We also know that Ren’s wish was to stay in Tokyo forever (which you find out if you accept dream reality). Maruki said he brought Akechi back because he thought it was tragic. He never said Ren wished for it. Even if Ren did wish for it, that wouldn’t automatically equal romance. If my friend died, I would want them to be alive too. I know a lot of Shuake shippers are really defensive of their ship, so if you have the urge to argue with me, please don’t. I don’t have the time or energy to talk in-depth about their relationship.

Random Headcanon

Ren has a light country accent. In the stage play, Ryuji makes fun of the way he says a certain word at the ramen shop. In a manga, a stranger calls him “an idiotic country bumpkin.” The only way that stranger could have known Ren was from the country would be his accent.

Ren’s scared of heights. This is actually implied in the game, but not a lot of people know about it. When he goes to Tokyo Tower with Sumire, two of his responses are “You don’t mind heights?” And “B-But if we fall...” When he goes there with Takemi, he says his ears feel weird and his heart is pounding. She then asks if he’s scared of heights. If you choose to train, Morgana will tell Ren to stand on a chair and one of his dialogue options is, “I’m not good with heights.” He looks miserable on the roller coaster in the animation. At Dometown, Ryuji says he’ll protect Ren on the roller coaster and starts teasing him saying “you better not cry on it.” When asked if he would rather go to Hawaii or LA, Ren can say Leblanc. Ann will then ask if Ren is scared of airplanes.

He is not athletic. Like not in the slightest. Ryuji, Sumire, Takemi, and Kawakami all point this out. In the manga, Ren says he was late due to his “poor physical condition.” Sumire never tells him “good job” after training, she always says “good effort.” In a manga, Yusuke said he wanted to capture suffering then asked Ren to exercise. In Dancing, Ren thinks this while in Makoto’s room, “The weights are labeled 4K...Almost nine pounds. Really!?” While in Akihabara, Ryuji says the exercise machines are really expensive. If the player chooses to say he wants one, Ryuji says even if Ren could afford one, he won’t use it and it’ll just collect dust. Ryuji also tells Ren, “You gotta be more active.” After Takemi says a lot of students have been getting injured due to sports she says, “Well, I guess a kid like you doesn’t have much to worry about that...”

His glasses are real. I know it’s confirmed that his glasses are fake, but I really don’t like that concept. Most people don’t wear glasses, so they won’t help him “blend in.” They’d do the opposite- if they did anything at all. And that “intense gaze” thing doesn’t make much sense either. Have you seen his portraits? His facial expressions hardly change, and he has so much hair you can barely even see his eyes. I also just dislike the “intense gaze” trope in general. I like having a character with glasses who isn’t a nerd, genius, or old. Your eyesight has no impact on your personality, so Ren - who is also the main character btw - needing glasses would be cool.

Since he wears a lot of black and is always with Morgana, he probably has cat hair all over him.

He doesn’t have a big stomach/appetite. He tends to react judgmentally to how much Sumire, Ryuji, and Ann eat. When he was asking around Yongen-Jaya to see if anyone knew Futaba, a man asked if Ren eats a lot, and after you respond the man says “you don’t eat a lot?”

Ren’s a picky eater. Makoto asks Ren if he’s an adventurous eater and his dialogue options are basically no. He says, “yeah, sometimes”, “not really”, and “it depends.” When Jose asks if your tastebuds change as you get older, both of Ren’s responses are no which makes me think he won’t try anything he disliked once, even if it was years ago.

Since he’s from a small town, Ren gets lost a lot. There’s actually a manga where he texts Ann, “I’m lost. Send help.” Ann asks if he’s bad with directions, and he - distressed- says “No...Tokyo just takes a little getting used too...”

Ren’s late pretty often.

Since he’s from a small town, he’s a slower walker than some of the other characters.

He’s terrible with names. He asks for Kamoshida’s name three times, when Kawakami says Niijima wants to speak with you he has the option to ask who that is, the dialogue options for telling Ryuji Mishima’s name, the text bubble never changes from principal and Haru’s fiancé even though the player knows their names, he forgets Arsene’s name in a manga strip, he forgets Eiko’s name, and in Q2 one of his dialogue options is there’s too many names.

Unpopular Opinion

I’ve seen a lot of people complain that Ren didn’t seem to have PTSD after everything that happened in the interrogation room. I’ve also read things like, “There’s no way he doesn’t have PTSD.” That’s not how PTSD works. PTSD doesn’t care what you think “should” or “should not” happen. Traumatic events can trigger PTSD; however, not everyone emerges from trauma with it. Headcanon all you want, but saying it’s wrong that the game didn’t give him PTSD isn’t right.

favorite thing about them: Umm... basically everything lol. I like his personality, his backstory stabs me in the heart, he arguably has the most depth of all of the characters, and he's pretty funny and adorable. He also sounds really funny when he screams.

least favorite thing about them: Sometimes his overly perverted nature comes off as less funny to me because of the timing/situation and just makes me cringe instead. This isn't about him specifically but I feel like the others go a bit too hard on bullying him, like they're even joking around and making fun of him when he's actively grieving the loss of his close friend and they also tend to brush his suicidal feelings off as a joke which they don't do to the other characters (like Yuri or Estelle). It makes me sad and none of them ever really address this or seem to feel bad about it :/

random headcanon: Autistic, just like the rest of my fave characters 🥰 I also think he likes Judith so much because she looks and acts like Yuri and he's closeted bi and really into Yuri so he'll settle for the diet version.

unpopular opinion: I think there should have been more time between Schwann's death and Raven's reunion with Brave Vesperia. After how much they bullied and distrusted him it would have been nice to have a little more time for their feelings about his perceived death to settle, outside of just a couple of skits.

song i associate with them: This one reminds me of Schwann (specifically around the time Alexei is already deep into his descent and Schwann has no choice but to follow this almost unrecognizable man that he once respected and realizes he's no longer even seen as a human or even as a knight anymore, just a tool to be used). Surely I have some happy or healing or shippy songs somewhere but nothing is coming to my head rn 😅

favorite thing about them: I like his sarcastic personality. Although I don't like it for him as a person because it makes his life so hard I do find that I'm always drawn to characters who are horrible at expressing their feelings and cause themselves undue suffering. He also weirdly shares a lot of similarities (including name) with my favorite character from another fandom which makes me like him even more.

least favorite thing about them: Hmm... I guess I don't like how quick he is to kill people every time a problem comes up instead of looking for other solutions? I mean obviously that is intentional writing but I feel like the root cause of that is never properly addressed in the third act in the way it should be.

brOTP: Yuri and Karol, found family brothers 🥺💗

OTP: Yuraven or Yuri/Zagi? I think I think about those two the most, though I also love Fluri of course.

unpopular opinion: Kinda similar to Raven's but I would have loved to see more reaction to him returning after his "death", namely from Flynn who kinda just moved on immediately despite apparently being so worried that he sent fleets out to look for him multiple times. As much as I adore him I also find him annoying at times.

Unfortunately I have almost no thoughts about Zaveid in particular and he hasn't even joined the party yet in my playthrough (I think I was told he joins near the end of the game??) so I will only answer a few of these, sorry! 😅Once I restart a playthrough with my friend here soon (starting over so we can play together, just gotta wait for them to finish Abyss) I will give more conclusive thoughts about him and some general live commentary stuff! favorite thing about them: Umm... he is very pretty! Also his hair looks like a scallion and that's pretty neat. (I'm not actually a huge fan of him yet but I'm still playing so maybe soon!)

least favorite thing about them: I don't dislike him or anything but I rarely am interested in characters who make many jokes and are flirty unless they whack me over the head with a gigantic trauma reveal. I feel like that is right around the corner where I last stopped (haven't played for a few months). We shall see!

names this is where I’m fuzzy lol. Malaysia’s a muslim woman to me and I like names like Aisah, Ayu, and Iman. Indonesia is a dude and I have no clue what his name is... Indonesians can have just 1 name though (eg sukarno) and that’s definitely him, he just has a mononym. maybe Suluang? which would make him Javanese. it’s one of my fav names i’ve heard 😌 as for Singapore I think she has both an english name and a mandarin chinese name but I really could not tell you what (mandarin speakers any suggestions? for english names I like Lisa/Melissa and Joanna)

appearance hcs THEY ARE TAN!!!!!! die by my blade if you don’t think so. anyways Malaysia loves wearing hijabs in cute pastel colors and patterns and she has a very infectious smile... also she kinda dresses like an english teacher but we love to see it. I’m so sorry, I went through half this post before realizing you only meant the HTTYD fandom, but it felt like such a waste to delete everything, so just ignore all the non-HTTYD stuff.

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Okay, here are a list of ships that I do not get, as in I don’t necessarily hate them, but I can’t bring myself to ship them:

Harmione, Kataang, Zutara, Merricup, Jelsa, Barchie, Jlaire, Rayllum, Jason /Janet (is there even a ship name for them), and Lingfan.

There’s no OTP in the HTTYD fandom that I don’t like that is popular. Hiccstrid really is the only big pairing in the fandom, and I like Hiccstrid, so...

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

Basically see above? Every single ship on that last is a couple whose non romantic relationship I thrive for.

But in a general sense, nearly all my ships. I like writing people being friends more than I like writing them being in a romantic relationship. I like writing Hiccup and Astrid being friends with each other - even when they’re a couple, they’re friends who kiss every now and then. SO, every ship technically.

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?

I do not care for Rufflout or Dagla or Heathlegs but I don’t consider them popular OTPs.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

Zutara, Harmione (these two are gonna be recycled a lot, pfft). Hiccstrid to a certain point, the love square in MLB, Jake and Amy? Kinda?

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?

REGINA MILLS. There’s probably others but I cannot stand Regina Mills, holy crap. She is everything I hate. Her character and fan following boggle my mind so much. The woman is terrible and the writers’ love for her screwed over every other character. That being said, I love Lana Parilla.

There’s also two meanings to “dislike” in this sense. Characters like Regina are ones that I dislike but ultimately am still entertained by. Cheryl Blossom and Severus Snape fall under that category too. But I could also dislike a character simply because they’re boring, like Nini from HSMTMTS or Elena from TVD (but I’ve only watched one episode of TVD so don’t come for me there).

For HTTYD I dislike RTTE Hiccup, RTTE Tuffnut, Grimmel and Dagur to a certain point.

10. Most disliked arc? Why?

Regina’s redemption arc because she never regretted anything and constantly blamed everyone else and never did anything to atone and literally separated the evil from herself as though the evil part of her was someone else and not just her. Like, she was not possessed, she was not controlled, she may have been manipulated by Rumple, but her evil actions were entirely her own.

I also dislike Dagur’s redemption arc honestly? He never was shown to be changing, he just did a complete flip out of love for Heather and didn’t really have to go through any work for it, so it doesn’t feel satisfying.

14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

Already vocalized, but some people hold HTTYD up on a pedestal and ignore its flaws. Its villains are racist and antisemitic and the writing is sexist (yes, even the movies, describing astrid in a “sexy ball of fire” is weird).

15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

Which opinion do I have about RTTE that isn’t unpopular, pfft. Let’s see if there’s any I haven’t talked about yet...

The timing of the show was so weird? It’s supposed to take place when Hiccup is nineteen, so one year before HTTYD2 at least, and yet it’s kind of impossible that everything happened within a year. Specifically in Shellshocked (I think), Astrid mentions that Hiccup has been working on a plan for months, months that we did not see that happened between episodes. The writers also seriously wrote the show as though they had not seen HTTYD2, and while Mala and Atali and Minden are cool characters that I appreciate, BERK SHOULD BE THE ONLY ISLAND THAT HAS MADE PEACE WITH DRAGONS. As for being “canon,” it depends on what you define as canon.

16. If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

Have Hiccstrid be in a relationship already. Give Dagur a proper redemption arc. Snotlout and Astrid are bisexual. Hiccup changes outfits so that he starts wearing armor closer to his HTTYD2 outfit. More time spent on Berk. Less of a “gotta catch em all” feel. More villages introduced. Heather is a proper grey character.

17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…

Instead of the dragons leaving, I would have had them stay and beat the odds and gotten an optimistic ending instead of a pessimistic one.

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

I’m not on Tumblr as much anymore, but I wish that there were more discussion posts like there were around HTTYD2/early RTTE times. I know it’s hard to discuss theories and stuff when the franchise is over, but I miss analyses and discussion and that kind of fun.

How did you get into rotbtd?

Oh, gosh... I was about 15...? Anyways, I liked all of the movies individually, and I ended up stumbling across some fanart of all four of them together, and then I saw tags like “the big four”, and the rest is kinda history. I got in deep on a dying fandom and never left...

What made you stay/come back?

Hahaha! See, fandom was dying/dead when I came around, so I never left. I just started a really long Hogwarts AU that is still not finished... (also after checking the timeline for the last question, I realized that said Hogwarts AU is almost 5 YEARS OLD! Maybe I should do something special for the anniversary???)

Out of the four movies, which one is your favorite?

I mean, I absolutely love them all, probably wouldn’t be in the fandom if I didn’t, but... I have to go with Httyd. Hiccup is just a really relatable character for me, and I just love the exhilarating feeling I get every single time I watch Test Drive. It’s just so beautiful.

Dreamworks Dragons or Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure?

You know, I think I need to go with Tangled Adventure on this one. While I love the Dragons series, I feel like Tangled did a really good job of staying true to the original characters while also adding more at the same time for more dynamic plots and such. I think it was just really well done, and there are no plotholes/awkward overlaps like there are sometimes in httyd (that could be because there are less movies so not as many toes to step on) but still, I think Tangled Adventures was really, really well done and I must give credit where credit is due! :)

Which one do you prefer to be made a sequel of, Brave or Rise of the Guardians?

It’s hard because I really want BOTH... I think I would prefer a remake of Brave with the original director, Brenda Chapman, because I feel like it would’ve been so much better if she hadn’t been taken off a project that was inspired by her own relationship with her daughter. Yeah. I’m still mad about that Disney.

But for overall sequel I would probably go with Rise of the Guardians. Brave seems like more of a stand-alone plot to me, so trying to shoe-horn in something else has high chances of being not so great *coughfrozen2cough*. Where as rotg has many characters with different legends and stories to be told, a whole book series to draw from, it’s a whole world that we’ve only explored one small part of, and I would’ve liked to see well-adjusted team dynamics/family-team antics of the guardians! :)

OTP/BrOTP(s)?

Ah, see I’m really NOT against any of the ships, I’m just not big on shipping in general. There are very few ships that I’m actually, ya know, Into. So I’m definitely more of a Brotp kinda gal. I love me some good, healthy, and strong friendships! Found Family? That’s my ish! Love that!

Favorite character(s)?

Hiccup. But there’s a special place for each of them. I’ve seen myself in each of them and nothing can really replace that feeling.

Favorite AU(s)?

Okay, I gotta say Hogwarts AU cause I’m chin-deep in that right now. Soon to be drowning. Simultaneously the best and worst decision of my life. Haha! Just kidding! Anyways, I like this AU because I’m really big on fantasy, and it just makes sense; why four people from completely different walks of life ended up in the same place at the same time? I think it’s pretty cool and it’s such a big world to explore!

Besides that... I would say a War AU could be cool, like medieval fantasy or futuristic sci-fi. Pirate AUs and Circus AUs will also always catch my attention.

Pick one! favorite B4 house placement in Hogwarts AU? | favorite B4 nation/bending headcanons in ATLA AU?

Okay, so for Hogwarts Houses I definitely have preferred Houses, but the whole system is so generalizing to begin with I really believe that any of the four could be in pretty much any house if you really want, but here are my preferences:

Hiccup - Ravenclaw

Rapunzel - Hufflepuff

Merida - Gryffindor

Jack - Slytherin

As for bending headcannons, I really haven’t put a lot of thought into it, but that question is very intriguing... I’d probably do something like...

Hiccup - Air, because the peaceful Nomad lifestyle and the desire to fly and explore and be free is just very fitting. Also he could befriend Toothless instead of a Bison, confusing everyone because they thought Dragons were dangerous!

Rapunzel - Earth, because for one thing I love breaking norms in this way! I love the idea of Rapunzel being the dainty, pretty princess but then she busts out some of the most badass Earth Bending moves, invents metal bending to escape Gothel, is just very kind but if you piss her off she’ll totally wreck you. I think this would be A LOT of fun. Also, I think it would be fitting with the whole “flower” thing. I also think it could be an interesting character arc where she’s not very good because her personality doesn’t exactly fit the “traditional earth bender attitude” and being raised by Gothel (”You? A bender! Oh, honestly Rapunzel, don’t make me laugh!”) could leave a lot of insecurities that she would have to grow and work through. I think it could be really beautiful.

Merida - Fire, on the flip side this one is kinda typical I imagine, but I would say (also on the flip side) make her afraid of it. Make it the one thing that Merida isn’t, well, Brave about. She doesn’t like fire bending. It could potentially make her a disgrace to her royal/noble family. It also would explain why she’s so good with a bow and sword: she chooses weapons over bending. Unlike Rapunzel who wants to learn but is hindered and must overcome, Merida would be against learning and would eventually have to learn that it is a part of her and learn how to accept it (after possibly visiting the dragons with Hiccup or whoever the avatar would be cause who the heck knows? could be interesting if none of the Four are the Avatar. Make a fifth character the Avatar and the Four could just be the teachers...)

Jack - Water, obvious, I know, but giving Jack ice powers AND another element makes him WAY to OP. I would say Jack is actually not a natural at water bending. He’s always accidentally freezing everything! (not unlike Katara). He has to work hard and earn his title as a master, eventually becoming the best because he trained harder than any of the others and surpassed the other water benders that used to torment him back in his home village! I also think Blood Bending could be an interesting plot device here (maybe Jack is tempted to use the technique because he’s worked so hard and still isn’t good enough? Or just in general Jack’s inner battle between the darkness and his fun-loving personality...)

......Dang it. I think I just started plotting something. o_o

Pick one! since this is 2020, any hot takes you want to give us? | what old fanon tropes that you still enjoyed to this day?

I will always love brotp between Jack and Hiccup! Absolute favorite. I also love the idea of the four having sleepovers and telling each other everything and overall being supportive and loving towards each other. All the positivity and fluff!

I work at a music store u can’t just ask me this. When my coworkers play it’s the saxophone or the flute, when the boys in the repair shop are testing repairs and they harmonize with each other or try to outplay one another it’s the bassoon or the trombone or whatever they’re fixing at the moment. When I hear 🎺 give his lesson on Wednesday afternoons it’s the trumpet, and when I think about middle school it’s the clarinet, the flute, the French horn. I already did Oralie in another ask, but are you kidding me? I’d love to ramble about my headcanons for side characters any day! (Also I love that everyone sent me Councillors/minor characters because it really says a lot about my reputation as a blogger.)

Let’s start with Terik because I have the least about him and I want to save the rambling for a bit later.

Sexuality Headcanon: Gay

Gender Headcanon: nonbinary but mostly masc-presenting and considers himself at least partly male (demiboy, possibly.)

A ship I have with said character: I honestly don’t really ship him with anyone right now but he deserves a boyfriend so I’m open to suggestion.

A BROTP I have with said character: I really like the idea of him being friends with either Kenric (extra angst!) or Bronte (rare ability solidarity, much?).

A NOTP I have with said character: Any straight ship.

A random headcanon: Prefers tea over coffee. He and Bronte get in debates about it regularly.

General Opinion over said character: Great character overall and I wish we had gotten to see more of him in the series, he kinda disappeared after the first few books and it made me sad.

A random headcanon: Wears all black on a daily basis.

General Opinion over said character: *inhales* you all probably know that I love Bronte by now but I love Bronte. I don’t like everything Shannon did with his ‘redemption arc’, he needed to fully acknowledge that what he did in books 1-3 was wrong, but I still adore him. Implied to be repressing trauma even in canon, has some serious issues, and needs a hug. I love him.

How I feel about this character

Okay I feel so many things for Yeong-shin and about him. I feel like his character is layered Incredibly, he's quite complex and also just kinda mysterious Because we really don't know an insane amount about him. He's a fighter in every meaning of the word and he's been through so much. From losing his family, the war and his time with the Chakho (Because you KNOW that was no walk in the park) and then the entire plague situation...I can't imagine the weight he carries with him every day. Also him with children? My heart is soft. For while he's a fighter there are moments in the show where you see him soften if just a tiny bit and I love that. I feel very highly about him and I have so much love and respect for him. The loyalty we see from him. The determination he has. It's remarkable. I could probably go on about his character for hours if I'm being honest but I don't want to make this Incredibly long.

P.s. him hurling himself at everything? *Chefs kiss* his body is a weapon and he uses it

Chang, honestly I don't typically ship many people when watching something, I kinda find one maybe two ships I enjoy and stick with em. I'm fond of Chang and Yeong shin.

Though I don't mind him and Soe-bi either. However I'm relatively fond of either Soe-bi just not being in a relationship or her and Beom-pal. But that's not what this is about bvfhvv. (Granted I'm not against any ships and I've actually read...most of the fics for Kingdom regardless of the ship.)

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Beom-pal and also I feel like him and Soe bi have a good bond and a brotp. (Please be kind to me about this)

My unpopular opinion about this character

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Oh my God so much. So so so much. Though I suppose one would be that I'd just like to know more about him so maybe him telling one of the others more about him or just seeing another flashback about him whether it be big or small. I'd also just... like to know what his actual name is tbh. Though if we never find out that whole thing I won't be too upset about it. Or maybe it is his real name and he was just passed off as dead for some reason. Maybe we'll find out. Maybe we won't. But guess we'll find out come season 3.

Why I like them: My love!! I went into FDTD already a fan of Madie’s but Kate quickly became one my fave characters!! I love that she’s so small and cute but will absolute wreck you if you mess with her or someone she cares about!! lmfao She’s so fierce when she needs to be and doesn’t take shit from anyone, but she’s also so nurturing and forgiving and I think we all need a little of that in our lives. Absolute sunshine, not to be taken for granted.

Why I don’t: Sometimes she goes a little too far tbh. She doesn’t know when or how to say no. It’s not that I don’t like that about her, but it absolutely gets her into situations that could otherwise be avoided.

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Again season 2 episode 1!! I love how she sasses Seth in that episode. lol

Favorite season/movie: Hmm... maybe season 1.

Favorite line: “...So you’re gonna put this car into drive, and you’re gonna step on that pedal, or I’m gonna Bible-thump your ass all the way back to Kansas! NOW!” LMFAOOO

Favorite outfit: I think her black American Eagle jacket and jeans with the black boots outfit has become so attributable to her character in my mind. When I think of Kate she’s wearing either that outfit or the one she wears at the end of s1. I think those are my faves. Also Amaru’s outfit looked totally amazing on Madie!!

OTP: Sethkate obvs

Brotp: I’m gonna go with Kate and Rafa. He was too good!! I totally would ship them romantically too ngl. They were precious together!!

Head Canon: Ugh again with the head canons... lmao I kinda always believed she’d wanna study engineering of some kind if given the chance to go to back and finish school. Everyone always wants to make her a nurse or a teacher or something, and I can totally see that. But I like the idea that she’s interested in how things work. I totally wanna write a mechanic Kate au one of these days.

Unpopular opinion: idk that I have any unpopular opinions about her... She made some questionable decisions in season2, but I forgive her for making me suffer.

A wish: That she hadn’t mf DIED!! BECAUSE I SUFFERED OKAY. WORRYING FOR MONTHS THAT IT HAPPENED TO ME YET AGAIN AND THAT MY FAVE WAS DEAD. Also that she had gotten more screentime in season 3. She barely had a few minutes. It wasn’t fair. And I wish that Richie had owned up to his part in her death.

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: Romantic tres geckos. No thanks!!

Why I like them: OMFG I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! lmao I love that he’s so dedicated to his family. And he LOVES Sheila more than anything, even though she’s become a zombie and her entire personality changes on him and eats people now, but he stays with her and never gives up on her. Even though he’s highkey stressed 100% of the time. :P

Why I don’t: I don’t think there’s anything I don’t like about him tbh??

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Ughhh idk I loved all the episodes tbh. But one of my favorite scenes was in season 3 after he and Eric do the zombie killing training and Eric says “Joel touched me” XD

Favorite season/movie: IDK. Maybe a tie between s1 and s3.

Favorite line: haha idk I can’t remember any in particular except “You’re killing it!” when he finds out Abby soaked his iron skillet in the sink :P

Favorite outfit: I don’t think I have one? I never really paid attention tbh.

Why I don’t: Okay I found the Brotherhood anime Edward pretty goddamn annoying sometimes with all the screaming and cartoony reactions to things...

Favorite season/movie: I definitely preferred the 2003 anime... Brotherhood might be canon but idgaf!! I still haven’t read the manga. :P

Brotp: Ed and Al forever!! Their relationship is my favorite thing about the series!! omfg I cried when I watched the Shamballa movie when Al says “brother” in his sleep, stuck in the other world. T_T I know it’s not “canon” but the brothers’ relationship is developed soooooo much better in the 2003 series and movie.

Head Canon: don’t got any!!

Unpopular opinion: NGL I loved the 2003 anime soooo much more than Brotherhood because they didn’t cut every potentially emotional scene off at the knees with some comedic BS to lighten the mood. The 2003 series really gave the story and characters time it needed, and it really allowed us to get to know the brothers and grow an attachment to those characters. That series just had wayyyy better character development imo and I really grew to love Ed and Al so much because of it!! I haven’t actually read the manga still after all this time. lol I’ve been meaning to.

A wish: idk... I haven’t been in that fandom for ages...

Favorite thing about them: She is incredibly determined and strong-willed in her beliefs, all while being badass about it! Honestly, if I had at least a fourth of the confidence she had I would not be a nervous wreck 75% of the times I am in a public space lol Least favorite thing about them: Kayo, pls, you are worse than Scott in the chill-pill category. It is physically impossible to be allergic to fun, just take a deep breath for me, okay? It’s gonna work out eventually, I promise Favorite line: “Kaneer.” “You know my name?” “I know lots of things. Bye-bye!” brOTP: Alan and Kayo’s relationship had nice development imo, if I’m not just randomly coming up with it in my head lol. Alan learning over the series how to be more serious while still keeping his joyful edge, meanwhile Kayo learned that it was okay to let go and be less serious and that it wouldn’t hurt to be loose every once in a while, etc etc OTP: Again, it’s more of a “ship I like” since I just do not ship in this show, point blank period. There’s a lot of family stuff to explore with these characters so I mainly focus on that, but I mentioned her and Scott in Scott’s post when they’re not written as siblings so I guess this still applies here! nOTP: I got into this series because of the Tracy boys and their stories, so when it comes to her adoptive-sibling status it really goes 50/50 for me. If a story has it, great! I love adoptive-family stuff! If it doesn’t, that’s also cool! She can still be a really neat and interesting character if written correctly! But in the stories that heavily focus on her adoptive status then yeah, that’s kinda a no bueno for me Random headcanon: Closet stuffed animal lover. 100%. Alan figured it out because, of course, he did, and every time there’s a new rabbit outside her door she doesn’t know whether to fingerprint it to find out who’s behind it or just gleefully take the gift and shove it in her secret stash (hint: it’s usually the latter) Unpopular opinion: I’m not sure how “unpopular” this really is, buuuuut after the 2004 movie introduced me into Thunderbirds and getting into TOS after fully immersing myself into TAG I miss Tin-Tin. She was such a cool lady and there’s a really cool Tin-Tin in TAG concept that I love to bits (that I’ll reblog in a sec) that made me think about her again and I just! I like Kayo, I really do, but Tin-Tin is in my heart forever and always Song I associate with them: “Miss Jackson” by Panic! at the Disco Favorite picture of them:

I’m saying this one because this is such a good scene and really summarizes the best parts of Kayo’s character for me

The Mechanic

Favorite thing about them: Always gotta love a good ‘ol redemption arc! Cold, sinister people learning that they deserve love and forgiveness after being mistreated for so long is a weak point of mine so I gotta give credit there <3 Least favorite thing about them: Reaaaaally would have enjoyed at least a little more backstory, or exposition. Or even screentime. I feel like a lot of characters got the “lack of screentime” curse in S3 and if any dude needed some it was him. Kinda sucks considering what an interesting character he is! Favorite line: “You’re busting me out?!” “Ironic, isn’t it?” brOTP: Grandma and The Mechanic had such nice, if short, scenes together, but for a hypothetical brOTP, Virgil and The Mechanic would be fuuuun. Virgil teaching him mundane hobbies like painting and music and The Mechanic talking about engineering stuff with Virgil that the Tracy might not know about OTP: I mean... I don’t really have any? Brains/The Mechanic is cute, I’ll admit, but because of my general lack of interest in him I can’t really point fingers at any character in particular and be like “Now kiss!” nOTP: For rhe same reasons listed under OTP (i.e. not a lot of interest), I can’t point fingers at another character and say “How’s about no” either lol Random headcanon: Grandma teaches him knitting. That’s it. That’s the headcanon. All the Tracys have some kind of sweater before the year ends, and their reactions/emotions towards them range wide and long Unpopular opinion: This isn’t so much an unpopular opinion as it is an unpopular musing, but if he was written out of S3′s plot, would much have changed? Could they have gone with a “the Tracys figure it out by themselves” approach and would that have been better/worse?
