Read the Fifteen Light Novel and also I hate you Bones
Studio Bones looooooves screwing BSD over, and nothing is more indicative of this than the anime adaptation of Fifteen (except maybe Dazai's entrance exam because what the fuck was that).
To be fair, they did an okay job. It's nowhere near as good as the light novel but there were some changes that I did like; the soukoku hand-hold was one of them, Rimbaud's ability changing from red to gold was good, and like....very little else.
But contrasting the pros with the cons gives an OVERWHELMINGLY negative outcome, because dear lord???? The sheer amount of things they managed to mess up is borderline impressive. And it all leads back to their bastardisation of Rimbaud.
For those who haven't read the Light Novel (but assuredly will after this), Rimbaud's motivation is to kill Chuuya and absorb his memories. Why? To find his partner.
What partner you ask???
Why, were the few lines where Rimbaud offhandedly mentions his partner in passing not enough?
Tumblr media
No???
Tumblr media
Not ringing any bells????
See that would be because Bones REMOVED HIS ENTIRE FUCKING MOTIVATION????
Meaning all his lines about his partner? Gone. All his reasoning and character and personality? Aufwiedersen.
But why does this matter? Rimbaud is a fairly minor character as BSD goes, and whilst I love and adore him with all my heart, what damage does a couple cut lines do?
More than you could know.
Rimbaud is the main antagonist of this arc, therefore when he is misconstrued, the arc itself falls apart, his impact on Soukoku is gone, the stakes are gone, everything SUCKS (maybe I'm being petty but shush).
The gall Bones had to do this is beyond me, because tell me how they removed the antagonists ENTIRE GOAL and expected it to turn out well???? The thing that sets Rimbaud (and all BSD antagonists) apart from an average run-of-the-mill-villain is that he has a goal, and it's personal. He doesn't want to take over the mafia, although he has the clear means to, he doesn't want to blackmail Mori or betray him or gain any kind of power, he just wants his partner back.
Tumblr media
Not only that, Rimbaud's relationship with his partner is a fantastic parallel to the relationship within Soukoku, Rimbaud himself has many aspects to his character that connect back to Dazai and Chuuya, which is why that last fight is SO IMPORTANT for them as both individuals and a duo.
Rimbaud and Dazai have a similar disconnect from the world around them and their internal emotions. Dazai is encouraged by Mori to view others as pawns, and has trouble connecting with his emotions, whereas Rimbaud deliberately does not acknowledge his emotions, as he believes they will interfere with his work. On the other hand, Chuuya is exceedingly loyal to his friends, and is able to understand Rimbaud's reasoning, as he would also do anything for his friends, just as Rimbaud is sacrificing everything to find out what happened to his partner.
Also, Rimbaud is a transcendent, one of the most powerful ability users in Europe, and yet two Fifteen year olds were able to beat him??? Either he's weak, or those are some insane fifteen year olds, and the light novel makes it clear it is not the former. Rimbaud is incredibly strong and clever, he often predicts Dazai's plans, and is able to counteract them. But he still lost, because he was up against Soukoku.
Their first victory and it's a BIG one.
And back on the topic of Rimbaud's partner, he isn't even named in the anime, why does he matter???
Paul Verlaine matters to me <3333
And in the main plot and lore of BSD too but whatever ig, I mean it's not like he's an inciting character that creates a situation that is vital to both Dazai and Chuuya's development and also changes what we understand about abilities or anything.
Not to mention Bones cut out so much of what makes Rimbaud entertaining?? I love him, but he's so boring in the anime, because they took out everything and made a cardboad cutout of a man.

currently stopped at 12/2. there’s a lot i wanna talk about. this game makes me feel so incredibly strange. ill leave a very messy ramble under the cut
being past a majority of the significant moments i feel like i can give a pretty lengthy discussion of my feelings
the game does what it says on the tin it’s an hd remake. storyline (at least as of the date i cited) is by and large approximately the same.
the game itself is gorgeous it looks amazing. there is so much clear effort put into every little aspect, of which everyone is already greatly aware
i have highly mixed feelings
things i am enjoying
a nice handful of the link episodes and optional content are feel good and sweet moments that give a better impression of the cast’s relationship, which is always welcome. particular examples im personally really about include shinji’s link episodes and the group study sessions
theurgy moves and how they reflect each characters growth in their second move that unlocks with their ult persona. trismegistus’s theurgy killed me dead.
lots of very welcome qol changes that streamline numerous parts of the original game in a way that feels pretty good. i particularly enjoy the text message function and how it reminds you who’s available which days while also letting you fast travel directly to the link in question, and the net functionality thing that lets me see what others decided to do each day. a ton of helpful stuff for someone really forgetful basically
ive been playing on peaceful because im not good at rpgs (yes i spent $70 on a game from a genre i am notoriously bad at!!!!) so i can’t speak much to a lot of gameplay stuff but im glad tartarus has more to it and has also received qol changes that make it less of a slog to grind (at least in my experience). in general tartarus’s overhaul rules; visually the alternate environments with different corresponding floor layouts are awesome
they let ryoji be bisexual outwardly! kinda pretty much? much like aigis’s “I know you should be with a man” in portable it’s hard not to take “I want to be more than a friend to you” as anything other than explicitly gay. i still have a few more scenes with the guy so it might take a minute before i can be fully confident in this point.
things im not enjoying
the quality of the character writing in a lot of places is either off, irritating, or it flat out feels incorrect in some instances. whether it’s aki dropping the p word as liberally as he does or mitsuru being constantly put forward as intimidating and that’s the whole joke, or the weird new speech quirks aigis has, there are moments you can very much tell the writers are going “how many times can we fit this same unfunny joke or bit across the game”. it feels like a greater chunk of the time that they don’t Know what to do with the characters so they fall back on pushing whichever flagship trait that character is known for and it really hurts the overall enjoyment of the additional content when it feels so…shallow? as a result. not ALL of it is this way but there is a significant enough pattern that it’s genuinely a bother
how little they use the potential of this remake to demonstrate individual character dynamics that aren’t otherwise frequently touched on (i.e say yukari and shinji or aki or like aigis and shinji or fuuka and aki; there’s like a ton of character duos within sees that we just don’t really have a grasp on how they feel about each other). i was especially disappointed at the lack of shinji with other people than the rest of senpai squad or the protag, which is what i was most looking forward to having more of going in. maybe some of what i was hoping for is in tartarus dialogue i didn’t wind up triggering (which there is an insane amount of that id love to pick through once im done) but just based on the episodes i played and the hangouts i did it’s still like man. i wanted to see him being friends with other members yk? they barely took any cues from the portable slink.
BECAUSE the story is written so closely to the original any weird inconsistencies remain the same, although there are a handful of moments where they clarify certain important things that i don’t believe were in the originals. on a similar note whereas they smartened up and made stuff like romance optional and removed that notorious transphobic scene, they’re still not immune to being really fucking weird about age gaps and grooming !!! and of course the sexualization of highschoolers remains ‘Detrimental’ to the storyline 😐
ok i writing this as i am so sleep I am falling asleep with my phone. my primary thoughts for now make of that what you will. god i hate video games

Honestly I was planning to make a long post describing why I love the Rowdyruffs so much even though they're A) canonically misogynistic and shitheads (largely due to season 5-6 which I ignore for the most part anyways), and B) underdeveloped. But all my mind can keep going back to is the realization that I like the Rowdyruffs for the same reason that I love Jasper from Steven Universe. Okay, nutty statement, hear me out.
I love the idea of characters who are fucked, or at least could be read as potentially fucked, and can be interpreted as fucked over in some fashion, particularly those that don't get too much development. I love absolutely diving into these characters to the point of it being arguably insane and far past the point of "me thinking too deep" about shit. I love seeing the potential of how they're similar or how they could have been similar to their counterparts (the Puffs for the Ruffs and Amethyst for Jasper), I love delving into the idea of how they could change for the better and the immense amount of work that would take. I love seeing how their relationships with their counterparts and how they play into one another could develop during their self improvement. I love the fucked up parallels and how there's some sort of tragedy to them regardless of how light it's treated if you think about it.
They're sad fucked little characters that the existence of inherently allows for so much wild character and world building that I cannot sink my fangs into deep enough. I love the idea of growth and overcoming and forgiveness and kindness even if they don't become these infallible good guys. I love the idea of both Jasper and the Ruffs becoming found family with their counterparts and I love the idea of them intrinsically understanding one another in ways that others can't. I love the six unit found family dynamic of the Ruffs and Luffs specifically and how many individual, duo, triple, etc dynamics it allows for. I love breaking down characters to their very essentials and making them rebuild and relearn everything they know. I love the idea of characters that either have an air of tragedy around them, or could be interpreted to overcoming their adversaries, making their amends, and bettering themselves.
And honestly, given the choice between Jasper and the Ruffs, I think the Ruffs would be the more likely to actually have a chance. I don't think they'd become superhero good guys (for a variety of nuanced reasons that depend both on canon and my self indulgent AU, they'd lean towards neutrality), but they're also five/six years old and have a lot of time to change.
Honestly, I think this bleeds into why I love Color Code and Quartz Sisters so much too. Yes I've talked about general found family here and that is applicable, but I want to talk about why I love the Reds/Blues/Greens as couples and Jasper/Amethyst as sisters so much. I love the parallels, I love the growth and the learning, I love the idea that people can truly change, I love the idea of understanding of perspectives of people who you'd think are total opposites but in reality share so much in common. I love building off of that and smashing canon and fanon together like a fucked up inventor creating my own stories about growth, redemption, love (all types! familiar, platonic, romantic, etc.). I love overcoming what is written to be fate and loving the people you were destined to despise. Jasper with Amethyst, and the Ruffs with the Puffs, not only existing together but caring about and loving one another is such a massive defiance of fate and what is expected of them, these dynamics inherently have so much weight behind them to get to that point, so much work and history to get where they were to say you could love people you were told to hate. It's defiance, it's revolution, it's carving your own fate and proving shit isn't sent in stone.
The Ruffs, to me, allow me to do all that and are absolutely a blast to work with. Much like Jasper. I love these shithead kids I am squeezing them like stress balls.
Also I legit just find them funny but that doesn't have to do with my passionate rant about how fate isn't set in stone and how I love seeing people better themselves even if said betterment more so lines up with what's "right" as opposed to what's "good".
Anyway, relevant lyrics from Pollyanna because it's not only just a bop but gives me feels:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tl;dr: I'm a sap who love parallels and growth. Also I quite literally just ended up making a long post as to why I like the Ruffs and their potential, I just shoved why I like Jasper and her's too in there.
I don't know if this is even comprehensible I'm writing this at 4 in the morning and scheduling it to be posted later today.
Should specify that just because I love growth doesn't mean that I want their counterparts to play therapist for them (which I see a lot of in both PPG/RRB fics and Quartz Sister fics 😅), they need to work through their own shit. Of course they can be supportive and help but I feel like so much fiction gets how to actually support characters going through their own redemption arcs/rehabilitation/domestication/whatever and just have counterparts play therapist instead which fucking sucks.
I know for a fact this won't convince Rowdyruff and Jasper haters given that so much of my obsession relies in fanon and "what ifs", I just want to give my perspective as a person who adores these characters and has them (along with the Powerpuffs and Amethyst) as comfort characters.

P1-Looking at how great your posts on how Anne,Sasha,&Marcy would interact with both the Duck nephews and Team Magic, I thought I may as well do one on them interacting with Owl House kids and add Sprig & Polly in there too to even it out. Who do you think the Calamity trio, Sprig, and Polly would get along with the best individually between Luz, Amity, King, Willow, and Gus? I'd assume Luz with Marcy (both fantasy nerds), Amity with Sasha (both not so good friends and maybe not so good parents)
Tumblr media
First off, thank you I'm glad you enjoyed my posts about the duck crew! Secondly, I am so sorry it took so long to get to this ask, given how much I loved doing the stuff with the duck kids and amphibia girls the first two times around, these types of asks are my absolute favorites to get, so I decided to wait till I had the time to really put some thought into it and give it the response it deserves! That being said, lets get to it! (rest of the post under the cut cause wow this is long)
Ok so I do agree that Luz and Marcy would get along splendidly but I am saving Marcy for later because I have plans for her, along with a few factors that lead me to believe there's some interesting fun to be had with another combination. While Marcy and Luz both share the "enamored with another world" aspect, Marcy's approach is to enjoy diving into studies and making herself useful on commanded missions and such. Luz can't study for longer than a few minutes at a time, and while she's always down to help her friends, she's also perfectly content causing chaos in the home of a known criminal. However, there is a character from Amphibia who loves to engage in the daring adventure side of the world of amphibia, diving headfirst into whatever trouble they can find, regardless of how much they do or do not know what they're getting into.
Luz is a perfect match to go on chaotic adventures and have massive amounts of fun with Sprig. Sprig, especially at the start of Amphibia, is always the one dragging Anne along on all kinds of adventures in the wilds of amphibia, and Luz is the driving force behind exploring the boiling isles and finding new adventures and places to see, exciting things to do. Whether Sprig ended up on the boiling isles or Luz ended up in Amphibia, I'm certain one of the pair would immediately ask if there were any cool and potentially dangerous places to explore, and the other would be the first one to take them up on it. Sprig would get the chance to see more of what the people from Anne's world are like, and Luz would get the chance to see a little glimpse of that "PG fantasy adventure" she was looking for in the first place. Overall the two of them would have so much fun together, on that I am certain.
Next up, I will admit there are probably better characters for each of these two to get matched up with, so this is admittedly a bit of the two being leftover, but I do think I can buildup a pretty solid argument for the pairing. Willow and Polly is a strange duo on the surface. Polly is bold, loud, and aggressive. Willow is calm, quiet, and gentle. However I think there's some potential there. I think Willow is a really great person to keep Polly out of trouble, in the hypothetical scenario Polly is let loose on the boiling isles that would be a complete disaster(for the isles, Polly would come out of a fistfight with the entire emperors coven unscathed) unless someone was there to reign her in. At first Polly might be a little reluctant to be looked after by someone who is just another kid in her eyes, but we've seen bits and pieces of Polly where we're reminded that, as aggressive as she can be sometimes, she's still just a kid. She's not immune to love and affection, and I think Willow is just the kindhearted, loving person to help Polly feel a little more okay with not always being the strong brave kid she tries so hard to be. As a little bonus I think it would be pretty great for Polly to think she's got Willow and her softhearted nature all figured out after some time only to be taken completely by surprise by the sudden realization the moment Willow uses her magic that "oh hold up this girl is insanely powerful." To be honest that might be a pretty great experience too for her to see that power comes in many shapes and forms. (A lot of the people who are able to fight in amphibia are more agressive about it than willow is so it would be new for polly). This goes double if Willow meets Polly in Amphibia because I mean have you seen how much foliage is in that world? Dear Lord Willow would be a god.
(it is at this point that I realize how long this post is gonna be, maybe I should go put a cut up there somewhere)
For the third pairing I will now reveal where I decided to send Marcy. I would absolutely love to see interactions between Gus and Marcy. Just imagine it. I would argue that Gus is the most curious and inquisitive owl house kid, as well as the most inclined to actually be constantly studying new things instead of jumping right into them. Gus is a dedicated investigator (perhaps too dedicated) and Marcy can absolutely get behind that. Beyond that I think Gus would lose his mind to find another human in the first place, let alone one who can probably recite all of human history off the top of her head. Meanwhile with Marcy, she would be absolutely fascinated by everything and everyone in the boiling isles, and I can just imagine right now that every time she had a new question she'd pose it to Gus and Gus would be like "I... I don't know. *excitedly* I don't know! Let's go find out!" cue the two of them rushing off to investigate:tm:. Also! More than anything else i want Marcy to help provide suggestions to Gus on how to improve/expand his tunnels under hexside because I NEVER FORGOT THE TUNNELS.
With only two pairs leftover y'all can probably guess who's going with who. Unless you can't that would also be fair. I am kinda throwing a curveball with Sasha's I suppose, but I think it actually works out pretty well. Sasha and King have incredibly similar ideas about just about everything. While I think initially King would try to order Sasha around and it would get on Sasha's nerves severely, once that toned down, the two of them would get along really well. Sasha wouldn't see King as a threat due to his size and overall lack of power, and King would just continue seeing Sasha as a very strong pawn, though not out loud so she doesn't yell at him. I mean, we've seen what King would act like provided he became a teenager and it's honestly pretty in line with how Sasha would take over and be in power. I can absolutely see the two of them conspiring to run the whole isle, whether or not those plans ever actually come to fruition, I think she'd develop a soft spot for him.
And finally, I think there's a lot of untapped potential with Anne and Amity. While Anne is more coming from the past of the person who got pushed around and Amity is more the one who did the pushing, the two of them have more to bond over than it would seem. The core concept at the depths of each of their characters, is a chance for them to finally figure out who they are and what they want to be. With Anne it's been Sasha's presence and her need to be socially connected at all times that drove her to have a messed up view of friendship (friends are there to do stuff for other friends, like an exchange for their love), and the feeling she should just be quiet and let everything happen to/around her. With Amity it's the constant pressure from her parents to let them define her along everything she does and all of her relationships. Both Anne and Amity are in a place where, after spending so much time missing out on the chance to form their own identities and become their own people, they're finally starting to realize they can decide who they are. They're finally going to find themselves, and it's gonna be beautiful.

I always hated being around for royal business, but as long as Alistair had to attend to it, I would be there to support him. I could hate having to stand there and watch him dealing with rude people who felt entitled to his time and energy, but of course he had it worse in that situation, and I would do just about anything to help ease his discomfort over it; even if it meant just standing to the side and watching.
On any normal day, I would be out around Denerim on my own, finding jobs to do, helping people, keeping myself occupied. It's not as if I technically needed the work anymore, I lived in the palace now, officially an advisor to the king. I did advise him from time to time, but it was far less professional than most thought. While most assumed that the king had taken on his old friend and war time companion to advise him in a time of dire need, the truth was that we had finally been reunited after nearly a decade, when we went on an epic quest to find the truth about Alistair's long lost father, and had finally admitted that we loved each other along the way. He had asked me to come live with him in Denerim so that we could be together, and despite the stresses, of course I agreed. I tried to retain some of my old adventuring life, where I traveled all across Thedas, with the daily outings, and Alistair encouraged it, but of course I had to forgo that sometimes to keep up the front we had invented for ourselves in the effort to keep our relationship a secret. Which led to days like this one.
The king was due for a royal outing, to check on the well being of his subjects. He tended to enjoy this responsibility more than most of his other ones, although it still made me nervous. Who knew what random person would be horribly rude to Alistair in some way, shape, or form, leaving me to watch his discomfort helplessly? Or worse, what if someone attempted to harm him? He could defend himself, and had an insane amount of guards ready at every turn, I knew this, but still, the thought of someone trying to hurt him made me sick. Still, whatever my worries, I would stand there, and observe, so that every few minutes, Alistair could look over at me, see me smile, and strengthen his resolve to continue with his responsibilities.
So there I was, watching him talk to some of his subjects in the street. He glanced over at me and I did my best to smile lightly, as I was finally beginning to accept that nothing horrible would happen. He smiled in return, and if his smile didn't set my stomach to fluttering and make my heart squeeze almost painfully, I would almost have to scold him for his lack of subtlety. I was sure any person paying enough attention would be able to tell that the exchange wasn't a platonic one.
"Are you the king's advisor Ser Wallace?"
I was shaken from my thoughts when one of the ladies that had been talking with Alistair addressed me, "Oh, yes, that's me."
Immediately, much of the crowd turned to look at me. Well that was just fantastic.
One of the younger adults in the area stared at me in awe, "It's so incredible that you've returned to Ferelden to advise the king! Given your history, you must make such a fantastic duo!"
"Our history?" I panicked for a brief moment.
"You two do seem to be the best of friends, and what with your shared history of fighting the Blight and all! We've all heard the stories of the part you played as a team to help bring down the Archdemon!"
It was Alistair's turn to speak up in confusion now, "Stories? I wasn't aware of the tales of Ser Wallace and I still get told so frequently.”
Many in the crowd nodded eagerly. The young individual who had spoken up spoke again, "Of course they do! Even if you weren't king, Your Majesty, the two of you were an epic duo during the Blight! National heroes, you are! All the children that have been born since the Battle of Denerim have been told the tale of how Ser Wallace pledged allegiance to the Grey Wardens after they saved her from some nasty hurlocks in the woods, and spent the next year fighting with you to eradicate the evil from this land! Or how the two of you defended the gates of Denerim in the final battle, leading the troops in battle! You two are like heroes of legend!" Many of the children around had worked their way to the front of the crowd now.
I remembered both those days so clearly. The day my life had changed forever, when I'd been gathering some herbs in the forest near Gwaren for the apothecary, and had been attacked by darkspawn. They'd been so terrifying, such monstrous creatures, and even as I wielded my daggers, trying my best to force them off, I had been certain I was going to die. Brosca and her team, including Alistair, had burst forth from the woods, then, and had surely saved my life. It wasn't hard to see that they were Grey Wardens, but even with all the nasty rumors Loghain had spread about their involvement in the death of King Cailan, I didn't really care. I knew then and there that if the Blight truly meant an army of those monsters were coming, I had to do what I could to stop them. I wouldn't say I pledged my allegiance to them so much, but I vowed to help them from there on out until the Blight was over, and I changed my life forever in doing so.
And the Battle of Denerim. Oh, how could I forget it.
"Your Majesty, Ser Wallace, will you tell us about the Battle of Denerim please?" One of the children spoke up, once again shaking me from my reflection. I turned to Alistair, waiting for his response.
He raised an eyebrow teasingly, "What do you say, Ser Wallace? Up to tell some old war tales?"
I had to refrain from rolling my eyes at him and smiling, "At your discretion, my King."
He grinned and immediately turned back to his audience, beckoning me closer at the same time, which I complied with, "The sky was red as blood that day-"
~~~
I thought that I was surely going to die, along with everyone I loved, as I looked up at that sky. Murky, cloudy, blood red, it signaled my doom, along with all of Thedas. As much as I hated to say it, I was angry at Brosca for leaving me at the gate. The darkspawn only came in waves here, and at least if I was inside, constantly fighting, I wouldn't have the time to contemplate the sky. But instead, she had taken Morrigan, Leliana and Zevran, and I was left behind to hear the Archdemon die from afar.
I didn't know at the time that I would never see Brosca again.
"Next wave!" I heard Alistair yell, and I readied my position. When I saw the darkspawn coming, all I felt was anger. What a difference from one year ago, when just seeing a darkspawn had scared me enough to make me change the course of my whole life.
When that wave was over, Alistair approached me. "Is everything alright on this side?"
I grimaced, "We're hurting, but it could be worse. Just need Brosca to hurry up and kill that overgrown lizard."
Even with all the destruction around him, Alistair smiled at my ill-timed joke. Oh, how I had wanted to kiss him then.
"With any luck, it will be over soon. For good."
"And then you'll be king."
He frowned. "And then I'll be king."
"Does it scare you? I thought you said once that you preferred to follow. As compared to leading."
"It does. I do."
"You'll be good at it anyway, you know. Just look at what you've helped make happen here to day! All these soldiers trust you."
"That doesn't mean I won't still need help. Support, that is. Wallace, when this is over, woul-"
"Your majesty! Another wave incoming!" One of the generals shouted from the walls.
I smiled at Alistair, "Ask me later, yeah? When everything is good."
"When everything is good."
~~~
"-and then we saw a big explosion coming from the top of Fort Drakon, a light that blinded us all, and as it cleared, and the remaining darkspawn began to flee, it became clear that we had succeeded, and the Archdemon was dead!"
All the kids in the crowd echoed little sounds of awe, while most of the adults shuddered, remembering the day.
I chuckled lightly at Alistair's dramatized telling, the details of which varied slightly from mine, "As exciting as it was, it's getting late, my King. We should probably be headed back to the palace." All of his guards and other members of his entourage sighed in relief.
Alistair pouted slightly, and all the kids made sounds of disappointment, but he still straightened himself and began to bid his farewells to the crowd anyway.
~~~
Later that evening, we sat in Alistair’s study, as we do every evening, and he went over his papers that needed to be reviewed and signed, while I read on the couch, in front of the fire. I had recently picked up a history book from the library. As I read about all the epic feats these people had accomplished, I couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened earlier in the day.
Soon, I heard Alistair’s quill get set down on his desk.
“So I suppose we’re a duo worthy of legend to the people, then?” I turned to him to find him grinning mischievously. I rolled my eyes at him and smiled, freely this time.
“Who would’ve thought, huh?”
He laughed a little, “Is it so hard to believe? We do make a pretty awesome pair.”
I found myself laughing now, "We do, honestly. Still, I never saw myself as the legendary type."
"Neither did I, to be fair."
I scoffed dramatically, "You're the King of Ferelden!"
"And you left behind everything you knew of a basic village life to fight in a war and protect your people. That's pretty epic all on it's own, wouldn't you think?"
"I think being a king and Grey Warden is more cause for stories and celebration than some 19-year-old who decided it would be beneficial to me to fight monsters I was scared shitless of."
"If I was to go down in history for anything, I'd much rather it be because I was fighting beside you than anything else."
Once I had registered his words, I had to fight to hold back my tears, "Alright, you big sap, you can reign it in. Since we're legends and all, how about we head to bed early tonight? I think we deserve that much."
Alistair smiled softly at my deflection, "You're right. We deserve the rest." He moved to put away his things and stand.
"Hey Al?"
"Yes, love?"
"The day of the Battle of Denerim, you were going to ask me something, when we were at the gate, but you got interrupted. Do you remember what you were going to ask me?"
I found him biting his lip, thinking about it. Soon enough, his eyes found mine, "I was going to ask you to stay with me. In Denerim. Like you are now, I suppose."
I was a bit shocked, "Even then?"
"I always knew you were the only support I wanted or needed."
I found myself fighting back tears once again, "I'm glad I can be around to help. I'm sorry it took so long."
"I'm just happy you're here now."
"So if you've finally asked, I guess that means everything is good now?"
"Everything is good now."
Got tagged by @ultkyu to answer some questions! Thank you dear, I'm so excited for this~🥺💞
1. If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
× I'd be a cat, 100%. Cats are my love and my life, I've always wanted to be one, tbh (not in a furry type of way, but I feel like life would be easier if I was a cat, lmao). I love how cats take no shit and do whatever they want. They're very independent and individual and I'm all here for that.
2. What two anime characters or kpop idols are your type?
× Can I do both anime characters and kpop idols??
× As for anime characters, Jaeha from Akatsuki no Yona and Kirito from Sword Art Online are totally my type!!😍
× And in terms of kpop idols... omg,, how am I supposed to *only* name two?? Hmm, thinking about it, I guess not all of my biases are my "type" per se... but there's two that come to mind right now hhhh. One of them is Kevin Moon from The Boyz, he really ticks off (almost) every bullet point in my list for my "ideal type" and honestly, this list is freaking contradictory and has vvv high standards but Kevin is THAT boi, basically my imaginative ideal boyfriend personified. :') And the second one who I'd say is totally my type is Hwang Hyunjin from Stray Kids. I've always loved drawing him the most of all kpop idols and I still do tbh (but I can't fill my feed on my insta art account with JUST Hyunjin drawings,, you know,,,). His fashion!! I'm so here for it and vibe with it so well. Plus,,,idk,,, I feel like I could connect to him in some ways so ajxjsjdjjs yeah. There's just something about him and Kevin that inspires me so much, I really love these two bois.
3. Are there any writers or artists (art or music) that inspire you? If so, list 5.
× YES. I decided to name a few artists because I realize I've never talked about the artists whose artworks inspire me the most. They're all on Instagram, so I'll be naming their @'s
a.) @/shooky_dough: I'm probably not the only one who knows Nikki, hehe, but her art is SO amazing. She's got this really distinct style which I'd put into the category of semirealism. Her kpop fanart is soooo good and I used her tutorials to learn how to get better at sketching. If you look at the sketches I've been posting for the past few months on my insta art account, you'll notice that they're highly inspires by Nikki's art. She's definitely the artist I'm looking at most in terms of inspiration and improving on my own art.^-^
b.) @/angelganev: His art is sooo pretty. He does semirealism and I've found him by browsing through pinterest to find some art inspiration/references/tutorials. He also does drawing contests in which his followers can draw one of his work he selects in their own style and he gives a shout out to the ones he liked best. It's always interesting!!
c.) @/melmadedooks: This man can draw about ANYTHING, he's so talented. He used to draw lots of his 'dooks' and I've found him through seeing some of his works on pinterest (again, lol). I've actually redrawn two of his 'dooks' and posted them to my art account AND HE LIKED BOTH OF THEM, I WAS SO HAPPY OMG!!! He used to draw his dooks using only one coloured pencil, so I've also started experimenting with that and instead of using a graphite pencil, I used coloured pencils for my sketches and those gave off very different vibes that I really liked!!
d.) @/rezajeez: Probably *the* kpop fanartist I've been following for the longest of times. They are AMAZING!! They mainly do huge photorealistic portraits with INSANE details. It's funny actually, because their work is the complete opposite to shooky_dough's work. While Reza draws photorealism on a big surface (probably A3? maybe more??) and draws very detailed, Nikki focuses more on sketches/more semirealistic and "simplistic" art and it's usually drawn quite small, so seeing these opposites really broadens my horizon, I think^^
e.) Last but nor least, @/rossdraws: In my opinion, he's the modern day Bob Ross! His art is so freaking stunning, have you checked out his digital art landscape series?? The amount of talent this man holds in his pinky finger is more than I've got in my whole body like- OOF a huge inspiration to me!!~
4. If you could play any instrument, which would you play?
× The guitar!! I really want to learn how to play it~
5. If you could choose one anime to live in, which one would you choose and why?
× Either Ouran High School Host Club or Your Lie In April. The first one is just so much fun and I'd love hanging out with the host club members and as for the latter,,, I just really want to be here for Kousei and help him through his anxiety because I know so well how it feels like and I also wish I could sing while he plays the piano, we'd be a great duo✊🏻😔 (I'm sorry, I couldn't choose one)
6. This is a bit of an old DeviantArt fic trend, but if you received an Android of your favourite character from any anime/show/etc., who would it be?
× Hmmm... that's a great question omg there's so many amazing choices I could make😭😭 But I think I'd go with Kirito, I just really really love him ahhhhh
7. Is there anything you would like to do but haven't because your friends/family didn't want to do it with you?
× There's actually a few things I could name... first, I really want to go bungee jumping (preferably from the Macau Tower, as it's the highest bungee jump in the world😍) but my fam and friends think I'm crazy for wanting to do this but I'm actually quite an adventurous person which probably not many people know about me, so I love doing stuff like that.✊🏻😂
× I would also really like to travel with friends... it's not that I dislike travelling with my mom and stepdad but whenever I can't take someone with me, I feel like such a child ??? idk,, never travelling (I wanted to say "without adults" but then I realized I AM an adult) on my own with friends and always tagging along with my parents kind of make me feel like I'm not independent or mature/grown-up for it. But I feel like none of my friends want to travel with me... most of them have a travel buddy already but I just... don't akdjsjs
× and last but not least, getting more specific, I really want to travel to Hawaii and South Korea, but so far, I haven't made it there yet :c
8. What's your favourite flower?
× Cherry Blossoms all the way💞 but all flowers are beautiful and I really like roses, too.
9. What are some of your hobbies?
× My hobbies include singing, drawing, dancing, writing, reading, researching astrology, studying Korean, watching youtube videos/netflix, listening to music and OF COURSE DAYDREAMING✊🏻😔
10. If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island with nothing but the clothes on your back and a bag, what would you put in the bag?
× I'd definitely put food and water in the bag, my phone, earphones, a portable solar charger with a USB cable (so that my phone won't die and I could chill for however long I want while watching kpop mv's and then also use my phone to call for someone to rescue me from this island once I start running low on resources), all the books I still want to read, my art supplies and a few sketch books, some towels that I could use to lay on or use as blankets, a pillow and my teddy bear, and obviously a toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush and a few hair ties and bobby pins (you don't want long sweaty hair stuck to your skin during a hot summer ewww), some soap to wash myself and my clothes, sunscreen and also some insect spray to keep the bugs away!! (it's a big bag, okay)
~
Sorry for writing such an essay omg!!
Here are my 10 questions:
1. What compliment you've received meant the most to you?
2. Would you rather meet your favourite celebrity/group/bias and realize they're not at all how you imagined them to be like (maybe they're not as kind as you thought, for example) or never meeting them in person but it turning out that they're actually the amazing, kind, sweet, generous, etc. person that you thought they were? (I hope that makes sense hhhh I think the ethics of this question are really interesting)
3. What's your current favourite song you always use to get hyped up to or a song currently stuck in your head?
4. If you had to write the book of your life, what genre would it be and what would you choose as a title?
5. Name your top 5 musical artists and your favourite song of each of them?
6. If you were invited to a big humanitarian event and had to give a speech on a topic you'd want to bring about a huge change for the better, what topic would you choose to speak about and voice your opinions/ideas? (Assume public speaking is one of your strongest assets and you'll ace this no matter what)
7. What is something (a skill, personality trait, or something appearance related, it can be whatever) you wish you had and/or you really admire in other people?
8. What's your favourite anime/show/youtuber (you can answer whichever you got an answer for, it can be all three options of course :D)?
9. In kpop, are you more into vocalists, dancers, rappers, maknaes, leaders, or visuals (or maybe a mix of some/all :'))?
10. What's your most beautiful/favourite memory?
oof I hope these questions will be interesting to answer🥺 hmm, Imma tag @littlefallenrebel @jinniesmeow @softpastelmx @yeonki @hanstagrams @marculees @chrryjin and anyone else who'd like to do this~💞💞💞
Hi! I was wondering, what are your thoughts on the different Zelda games? Not a ranking or anything, just what did you like/dislike in each game/franchise as a whole? And how did you come up with the personalities of the characters for DL? Thank you!
Oof.  Oh, you’re gonna make me Longpost, aren’t you.  Yeah, okay.  You asked for it.
Skyward Sword/Gen
-I both love, and hate, the motion controls.  On one hand, I have never felt more epic than when I personally stabbed my sword into Demise’s head.  On the other hand, I have never felt more frustrated when my wiimote would misinterpret my swings and I would subsequently die.  Contrary to popular opinion, I actually like Fi.  Her design is beautiful, her theme is gorgeous, and her goodbye to Link is one of the most beautiful yet heartbreaking moments in the entire franchise.  The origin of the Master Sword, in my opinion, might be one of the best things to come out of this game.
Gen’s personality came about mainly as the foil to Lore and Dusk’s pre-existing dynamic.  Lore is the spastic one, and while Dusk is definitely somewhat of the straight-man, he’s much more likely to roll with it unless it’s drastically damaging.  Gen, on the other hand, will avidly apply common sense to anything and everything, and since Lore very rarely follows common sense, Gen morphed into his ‘conscience’, so to speak.  His predilection for healing was a side-effect of me dying a lot in his game and spending more on Red Potion than probably anything else, and also because the group needed a medic and Gen was definitely the most take-charge character I had who would do that sort of thing.
Minish Cap/Speck
The Picori are the cutest things, oh my gosh.  I do, however, suspect their violent and painful end in BotW - if they’re the ones who put the Rupees and Bombs and stuff in the grass, and there’s no such things in BotW…  Aside from that!  I adored the concept of shrinking down and having the entire environment change on you.  It was such a unique way to make an old area new again.  On the flipside, I loathed the Kinstone sidequest with a passion.  I never did manage to match them all.
Speck was basically me saying to myself, ‘He’s a tiny person.  How do tiny people see the world?’  And then he turned into a quiet, shy kid who tries very hard not to be a bother and looks at problems from a completely different angle than most people.  This is why he always second guesses his words - he’s by far the most frequent user of ‘um’, ‘uh’, ‘ah’, ‘oh’, etc, and this is entirely on purpose.  Tiny people, by nature, will do whatever it takes to make sure the bigger people don’t get mad enough to smush them - a bit morbid, I know, but if you think about it…  This is also where his habit of stabbing the eardrum came from.  Where most people wouldn’t even think of it, Speck just saw a really good access point and a whole lot of convenient fabric handholds to get him there.
Four Swords/The Four
I have actually never been able to get my hands on a copy of the original Four Swords game.  I know.  I’m a disgrace to the fandom.  However, I have done extensive research, and I can say that by far my favorite concept is being able to deploy a Bow-Wow in the direction of my enemies.  I literally cannot imagine it without cackling.
The Four were the result of me having two sets of Four Sword Heroes and desperately needing some way to tell them apart.  It took a very long time for me to decide to play up the hive mind aspect, but once I did everything clicked for them.  Rather than being split individual aspects of the original Link, the Four are literally a copy-paste of OG Link’s personality with only tiny variations between them, which led to the decision to make them somewhat quiet and awkward about their synchronization.  People rarely accept what’s unfamiliar to them, and to be honest the Four probably have one of the more ‘tragic’ backstories.  They may or may not have been chased out of a town or two due to a couple misunderstandings about the source of their hive mind.  (My babies, I’m so sorry I did this to you I’m a terrible author whyyyyyyyy)
Ocarina of Time/Ocarina
By far, one of the most investing stories in a game.  Ganondorf is fabulously evil, 10/10 would thwart again.  Music, of course, is beautiful.  The travel mechanic, on the other hand, I am not a fan of.  Trying to get somewhere before getting the respective warping Song is tedious at best, and the sheer amount of time it takes for me to swap between Young and Adult Link is just… it’s a hassle, is what it is.
Ocarina is a little kid in a Big Person’s body, and I write him accordingly.  He’s the wide-eyed boy in a brand-new world.  He’s naive to a lot of things and oblivious to several others.  He and Mask have a bit of an odd dynamic because of this - Ocarina will basically gravitate to wherever Mask is as a sort of unconscious instinct, under the unrealized assumption that Mask means protection.  The ‘Little Brother’ mentality, if you will.
Majora’s Mask/Mask
THE MOON.  THE FREAKING MOON.  I will never be able to play this game without feeling vaguely stressed and unsettled the entire time and THAT FREAKING MOON is the reason why.  Very compelling plot, 10/10, but WHY.  Aside from that, the music is fantastic, Majora is Creepy To The Max and we so rarely get that in Zelda games so I am on board, the transformation masks are probably my favorite mechanic, and your heartstrings get yanked on several times with the Goron Lullaby quest and Mikau’s entire storyline.
Mask evolved directly as the opposite to Ocarina, with the caveat that he is directly aware of Ocarina’s unconscious ‘Little Brother’ mindset - Mask just happens to be sincerely uncomfortable with the ‘Big Brother’ role.  He’s more knowledgable, more experienced, and this was done explicitly to be in direct contrast with the fact that he looks like a little kid.  He’s Ocarina’s opposite in every single way, and it’s fun to have them play off each other.
Twilight Princess/Dusk
Probably my favorite game, art-style-wise.  There’s some things that Twilight Princess does fantastically well artistically, not to mention that it contains one of my favorite characters of all time.  Midna is awesome and there’s nothing that will convince me otherwise.  I actually think the wolf mechanic is a really good way to make new problems within old areas - but I will admit, the bug hunts can be tedious.  And that one escort mission can go jump off a cliff. But I adore everything about the concept of a Twilight Realm, and even though Ganondorf comes in and kinda shafts Zant out of the way, he’s fabulous enough that I can accept it.  They are, after all, both marvelously evil.
Dusk’s personality came from me thinking back on everything that happens in his game and promptly deciding that: he either went a little insane to deal with it all, or he had the lowest level of crap to give that I’d ever seen.  Obviously, I decided on the latter, and I’m very glad I did, because from there that allowed me to build the faux-duo-actually-triad leadership between him, Lore, and Gen that works so very well.  I kinda ended up putting a little of myself into Dusk, in that he’s very reserved and will think about what he says before saying it.  Of course, I had to incorporate the wolf somehow, and the way that was the most fun for me was to bring some of those traits over into his hylan form.  One of these was me interpreting the howling mechanic as Dusk being a naturally good singer, and we all know where that led.
Four Swords Adventures/Red, Blue, Green, and Vio
The loss of the Bow-Wow hits me deeply, but we do get horses so that helps a little.  Also, it surprised me a little how similar this game is to the predecessor, Four Swords.  There’s a couple plot differences, Shadow Link is a thing, but for the most part it follows a very similar pattern and I kinda wish something different had been done.  It’s fun having more than one weapon to swing around, but not quite as much without other people to play with.  The one thing I have to say about Zelda multiplayer games is that, without actual multiple players, it’s just… not as fun.
I freely admit that large parts of Green, Vio, Red, and Blue’s personalities came directly from the FSA manga - particularly, the subversion of color expectations by having Red be the timid one and Blue be the aggressive one.  You never see that nowadays, and I immediately pounced on it.  Vio and Green had slightly less large chunks of manga personality, but I basically ripped their inner-group dynamic wholesale.  Their individual interactions though, those are all me.  Blue and Vio just seemed like natural bicker partners.  Red’s Adorable Puppy face evolved out of the sheer amount of times the manga had him on the verge of, or shedding, actual tears.  And Green naturally needed to be the exasperated leader keeping them all in line.  It all just sorta flowed from there.
Link to the Past/Lore
The originator of such musical classics like Kakariko Village, the Dark World theme, and Zelda’s Lullaby, and I thank this game for making these songs so good.  I adore the way that the Dark World can take the entire freaking country of Hyrule and turn it into something completely new.  But there were some times where I wasn’t sure where to go?  I don’t know if it was me or not, and it could have been.  I might just be bad at inferring destinations.
Lore is the direct result of being the target of four entire games, and me thinking to myself, ‘Now how does a normal person deal with something like that?’  The answer was, of course, that they throw normality out a window.  Lore is my way to have fun, and also to let out every random impulse I’ve ever had but never acted on.  In a way, Lore is me, but without all the inhibitions.  Sometimes he ends up being a direct conduit between my brain-thoughts and the page.  That aside, I also gladly seized the opportunity to bring something different to the group, which is how the different languages came in.  He’s the only Link who actively, within his games, visits other countries, and there was no way I could pass that up.
Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons
They remind me of Pokemon titles.  “Here’s these two games!  With the exception of some minor details, they’re exactly the same!  Combine them for a special surprise!”  I do think the Subrosians are adorable though.  And of course, shout-out to Veran, the only explicitly female villain the Zelda franchise has ever seen.  Maybe someday you’ll get a friend to help you out in that testosterone-filled mess.  Maybe someday.
Link’s Awakening
Far sadder than I anticipated it being.  Also, the Bow-Wow returns!  Clearly the best thing in the game. On the bad side - I don’t remember which one it was - there was this one dungeon that just… for the life of me I could not get it to make sense in my brain.  I don’t know why.  I also don’t remember what the solution was.  Very engaging story though, the Windfish mystery kept me engaged right up to the Big Reveal.
A Link Between Worlds/Sketch
The painting mechanic is just.  It’s so clever.  The entire landscape is transformed with a single dimension shift and I loved it.  I was kinda skeptical about the same map as LttP, but then Lorule happened and I was pleased enough with that to accept it.  Ravio and Hilda are fine additions to the LoZ family and I wholeheartedly accept them - also, the Lorule Castle theme is one of the best songs in the franchise, fight me.  One thing I do remember is this one boss battle, I think with some sort of Manhandla plant?  It took me at least ten or so tries to get past that thing.  Really didn’t enjoy that one.
Everything intentional about Sketch evolved from his painting ability, this being his phobia of water, his tendency to use stealth in a confrontation, and his continued sidetracking with artistic ideas.  At some point though, he turned into one of the most sarcastic Links in the bunch, and I’m really not sure how it happened.  But it seemed to fit him for whatever reason.
The Legend of Zelda/Realm
I regrettably have not been able to get my hands on this one either, but I have watched a play-though.  My observations are as follows:                    Where is the map.  How did anyone figure out where they were going in this game.  I don’t understand how that wall was supposed to indicate it was bomb-able.  How did people play this game without getting too frustrated to continue.                                                                                       On the bright side, the dungeons seemed to be very well-laid-out, and the bosses, while repetitive, were pretty memorable.  I suspect I would get lost within the first ten minutes, though.
Realm is directly based off of my above observations.  I am firmly of the opinion that absolutely nobody can make it through the original LoZ game without getting lost at least once, and this resulted in Realm’s absolutely abysmal sense of direction.  Consequently, I made him hopelessly optimistic and cheerful enough to make the sun jealous, because the only person who could put up with those sorts of mishaps is the person who can just get right back up and keep going.  Also, the fact that I myself and severely directionally challenged means that writing Realm comes very easily.
The Adventure of Link
I have not played this one either.  I apologize.  That said, I dislike the switch from top-down to 2-D scroller.  In comparison with literally every other game in the franchise, AoL feels the least like a ‘Zelda’ title.  Though, for the invention of Shadow Link, I award at least few points.
Wind Waker/Wind
It’s adorable.  It’s somehow a very dark and serious game disguising everything behind a cute and cartoony art style and even though I can recognize it I don’t actually care.  The story is engaging, Tetra is the Best Pirate, and the ocean makes it feel so big.  I do think the sailing mechanic can be a bit time-consuming before the warp travel kicks in, and I actually feel like Ganondorf went down too easily, maybe?
Wind is based off of sailing, basically.  I took the amount of time it takes him, in-game, to get places and decided that he has the patience of a saint.  Also the bafflingly ability to stay awake for three days straight, but that hasn’t come up in DL, so.  Because of this, he’s usually pretty content to let conversations evolve without much input from him, unless he’s got something important to say.  And of course, he’s got the Wind Waker, which resulted in me making up an entire magical classification system to explain why he’s so good at controlling the weather, accompanied by an entire chapter-length head canon about the relation between the weather and music.  Ironically enough, for all that Wind has no instrument of his own, the fact that he’s a conductor means he’s actually the most musically talented of the whole group.
Phantom Hourglass
I wouldn’t call it a worthy sequel to Wind Waker, but I honestly don’t think it’s too bad - with the exception of the Temple of the Ocean King.  First time, it was kinda fun.  Second time, less fun,  Third time, getting repetitive.  Fourth time, getting annoying.  Fifth time, and I was really done with that mechanic.  The remixed Sailing Theme was good though, and once I got past Linebeck’s surface personality I liked him pretty well too.
Spirit Tracks/Steam
I have never played this one, but the concept seems fun.  The riding-a-train song is amazing.  This Zelda is probably the most fleshed-out that the character has ever been, and I dearly hope she can take the position of ‘companion guide’ again someday.  Or maybe even ‘protagonist’, who knows?  I do dislike how vague Malladus is, because as the Final Bad Guy I feel like he should have been solidified more than just “Demon sealed a long time ago”.  And to be honest, why Trains?  It just seems so random.
Steam, like several other Links, is based around his gameplay.  As an engineer, he’s a pretty hands-on type of person, which is why he frequently gets distracted with the inner workings of other Links’ items.  And due to the fact that Trains require very little input to control and a lot of travel time, he’s the least physical of all of them.  This basically means that he runs the slowest, hits the lightest, and will likely bring the least to the table in a fight.  This is one of the reasons I gave him the ‘I Like Trains’ summon, because even if he himself can’t hit very hard, his Train sure as heck can.
Oh my gosh I think this took me a solid hour to type out, I hope you’re very happy with this response Anon ;)
Hey Leo first off sorry I just came at you with that question like that lol I really love your book and the characters might be one of my favorites. Okay sorry for the same day questions but Since I found out you love Dmc (and you are my favorite now btw) what would the Ro's weapons (and or abilities if you wanna get creative) be if they were in that universe as devil hunters like Lady or Trish. I wanted to ask a question I hope you would get really into have a great day Leo!
No problem! Ask as many questions as you want. I apologize if I don’t get to them right away though. It makes me happy to know you enjoy my work and that I’ve become a favorite for someone haha. Your question is really interesting, and it’s unfortunate that I probably won’t be able to come up with iconic weapons like the ones provided in Devil May Cry haha. I think I can get into this one though, let me see if I can be kinda creative with it. For the sake of it, let’s say all of the characters are playable in an upcoming game...Triaina Might Weep. I’m a complete nerd, so forgive me haha. I’ll try to list stuff the same for each. Also some of these ideas are things I’ve already come up with...for future use, so yeah haha.
Emma/Emil:
- Playstyle: A fast-paced acrobat, using punches and kicks paired with momentum-keeping spins.
- Weapon: Retracer, a pair of gloves and shoes that create tangible afterimages of whatever E does, multiplying the amount of hits they do.
- Restep (within the same vein as Dante’s Styles): E can selectively choose the creation of their afterimage, either using them as multi hit, attacking multiple enemies, or shadow-boxing from range.
- Five Step Sibling (within the same vein as Virgil’s Judgement Cut or Dante’s Sin Devil Trigger. An ultimate attack per se): E pushes Retracer to its limits in creating five doppelgangers whom act independently as each one flashes in and out of the battlefield before simultaneously colliding on the strongest enemy.
Ren/Robin:
- Playstyle: An unorthodox playstyle that relies heavily on small chances for incredible damage.
- Weapon: Ace, a deck of demonic cards that act as a conduit and feeds on R’s overwhelming luck. They hold a mind of their own and can be used either as a defensive wall, offensive ranged weapon, or incapacitating net.
- Draw: R’s cards are always facing away from them. He can select four cards at random, the effects of which are dependent on the outcome. If none of the cards are above Ten, R regains health and power. If some cards are suits, does a small explosion for small damage. If all cards are suits, does a large series of explosions around them. If R draws four aces, causes the other 48 cards to home in on enemies and explode.
- Luck of the Draw: Only usable if R draws four aces. They toss out the last four cards they hold in the direction of the toughest enemy, causing an attack that kills them instantly, no matter the amount of health.
Leah/Levi:
- Playstyle: A counter playstyle that relies on knowing the enemy’s attack and reacting to it.
- Weapon: Omniscient Guide, a book holding forbidden knowledge that allows them to build up power equivalent to the amount of times they counter and evade.
- Premonition: L can tap into the power of the forbidden scripture to summon floating eyes which see and convey the movements of all enemies around them five seconds in advance.
- I Know Your Every Move: After L counters/evades enough attacks in succession the forbidden book will grant L power, allowing them to take the offensive with high-damage sweeping lasers while automatically evading any attack that comes their way.
Vee/Vin:
- Playstyle: A duel wielding playstyle focusing on fast suppression and quick elimination.
- Weapon: Silvy and Gold. Silvy is an angelic silver pistol with the ability to summon firearms they’ve claimed in their various battles. Gold is a sacrificial golden knife that feeds on emotion for power.
- Battlefield Tactician: V can switch between a ranged gunner playstyle using Silvy and their various summoned firearms, to a close ranged fighting style using Gold and their various powers.
- All That Glitters...: After enough kills, V will enter Apathy Mode. In this mode, they will do more damage with Silvy and less damage with Gold, however using Gold will activate ‘All That Glitters...’ and V will immediately exit Apathy Mode as they summon various large-scale bombs before setting them off with a barrage of bullets from two Silvys.
Pinna/Pierce:
- Playstyle: A slow, powerful, bruiser playstyle whose damage increases as their health decreases.
- Weapon: Abaddon, a demonic chain that wraps itself around P’s arms and is used primarily in a sweeping, whip-like attack. The chain is wreathed in flames and curses the wielder with insatiable rage.
- Rage: When P takes damage or inflicts damage, they receive points into their Rage. The more Rage they have, the stronger their attacks and the longer their chains get as the fire burns stronger.
- See You In Hell!: When P’s Rage reaches Max, they’ll have access to this ability, which causes a large area of ground in front of them to set aflame as various giant chains wrap around each enemy and pull them towards the ground before setting a chain reaction of explosions. After the ability, P will lose all rage.
Mary/Matthew:
- Playstyle: A slow, disabling playstyle who relies on incapacitating an enemy first before killing them.
- Weapon: Niflheim, a translucent scythe permeating a chilling icy mist. The scythe grants its wielder power in exchange for darkened souls.
- Encroachment: M has the passive effect of chilling mist surrounding them and slowing down nearby enemies. The more darkened souls they reap, the larger this field becomes and the stronger the effect is.
- A Cold Sleep For All. M extends the reach of their Encroachment effect to its limit, slowing all enemies in sight before delivering a rending circular cut with Neflheim, dealing an incredible amount of damage. If the souls reaped from this ability, exceeds a specific amount, M will extend the attack with a snap of their fingers, killing the enemies hit and allowing the use of this ability one more time.
Raven:
- Playstyle: A stealth-oriented close combat playstyle that relies on disabling and striking the enemy from blindspot.
- Weapon: Bloodletter, a demonic pair of knives connected by a thin wire. Drinking the blood of the strong allows them to grow stronger.
- Sadistic Mercy. Raven cannot outright kill their enemies, instead putting otherwise dead enemies into Fear of Death state. The more enemies within this state, the more damage and speed Raven gets. Raven can execute an individual in Fear of Death state with a secondary input, allowing bloodletter to feed.
- The Bell Tolls For Thee. When enough enemies are put into Fear of Death state, a frenzied Raven will cut themselves with Bloodletter. A distant bell will sound, signaling the despair of all enemies as a shadow falls across each enemy in Fear of Death state, executing everyone simultaneously.
Snipper/Snatcher:
- Playstyle: A speed-based playstyle that focuses on jumping in and out of combat.
- Weapon: Sand, an humanoid angelic spirit embodying the forces of the desert. Forming a pact with this spirit, S can summon objects from sand as well as fight side by side on equal footing with them.
- Dynamic Duo: Whenever S and Sand do a combination attack, S gains points into this meter. S can use this meter to summon various objects, command Sand, or instantaneously switch places with their partner.
- Full Throttle Overkill: When S fill up their Dynamic Duo meter, they will have access to this ability. S summons Sand, who takes on the form of an angelic motorcycle. Using insane speed, the two flash through the battlefield several times before driving in a circle, creating a large tornado of sand that cuts up anything caught within.
Fray/Flay:
- Playstyle: A methodical playstyle reliant on clever traps and ranged attacks.
- Weapon: Eden, a demonic bow made of twisted wood from the Forbidden Tree. Has the power to bring to fruition nature and life, and in exchange curses its wielder with the preternatural insight of their own death. Despite this, F has found ways to cheat death using this forbidden insight, a feat which the bow revels in.
- So Predictable: F gains points in this meter whenever they successfully hit an enemy with a trap. They can spend points to create larger traps and stronger attacks using Eden.
- Predestined Death: When F gains enough points in their meter, they will enter Conniving mode for a short period. While in this mode, any damage taken by F will instead transfer to the attacker. If damage reflected exceeds a specific threshold, F’s conniving mind will find a way to cheat their death yet again, instead using the power of Eden to transfer their misfortune onto another.
This was a lot of fun to create, although it took some time. I hope you enjoyed it. I know I did cuz I’m a hardcore nerd. I’m honestly kinda thinking of expanding on it somehow hahaha. Thank you for the fun ask :) and have a great day yourself!
So like, Inanimate insanity characters as Pokemon
So I got a few ideas for like,II characters as Pokemon
Feel free to reblog and share what you think they should be instead or make art or whatever.
Baseball - Zangoose
I think that it fits him as it's a character who has a palette of white and red. Also I think considering his behavior lately it fits a bit better? He's kinda emotionally or "edgy" I guess? Not sure what word to call it
Nickel - Alolan Sandshrew
Nickel is a bit cold or mean and since he's a nickel I thought it'll be nice if he was an ice and steel type.Also I just thought the Zangoose/Sandslash duo fits.And if Nickel does get an arc to give him character development I'm hoping he'll mature and realize his mistakes and hence evolve.
Suitcase - Sentret
It's easy to pick Eevee into this one? But I think Sentret might fit better and Sentret needs more love hahaha.
Balloon - Ledyba
I just thought it'll look pretty fun if Balloon was a Ledyba, Have I mentioned this all started when I wanted to draw Pokemon I usually don't draw? Also I see Balloon making hand gestures often so having two pairs and maybe the other pair as "legs" to stand upright is nice.
Knife - Either Skarmory, Lucario,Lycanroc Dusk,Scizor
It's a bit hard to pick for knife because I think he fits in with a decent amount of Pokemon,so far those are the ones I thought of judging by his traits and what I think which Pokemon would fit on that.
Yin-Yang - Zweilous
Seriously it's basically perfect for these two,both individual conciousness who constantly fight and fight for the control of the body or I guess on what to do.
Cheesy - Raichu
I thought Raichu would fit as Raichu's design just rings silly fun for me. Maybe it's the cheeks,the tail,the nice warm colors,Who knows? But I think Raichu fits him,A silly Raichu who likes jokes and puns seem nice,and he can be basically a walking hand buzzer.
Soap - Minccino
Mincinno likes to clean and Soap likes to clean things, Behavior wise and maybe even personality wise I can see them fitting nicely.
Lightbulb - Ampharos
Ampharos is known as basically the Pokemon who lights lighthouses,they're Bright, Ampharos looks sweet and goofy ish similar to Lightbulb.
So far that's all I could think of! I'll probably maybe draw them or think of ones for the others.
Why 'Clueless: One Last Summer' Is the Inclusive Feminist Comic The World Needs Right Now, According To The Authors
It's a really great time to be a fan of Clueless. It was just announced last week that Paramount Pictures' '90s classic film is getting an official remake and the Broadway musical based on the original movie is set to debut next month. But you don't have to wait (literally) years to see the remake come to life and you definitely don't have to drop insane amounts of cash to hop on a plane to NYC to see the musical just to get your next Clueless fix. Comic book company BOOM! Studios is about to release a new Clueless comic book, and Bustle has your exclusive first look at Clueless: One Last Summer.
As a follow up to the 2017's Clueless: Senior Year, the new book reunites the writing duo of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Amber Benson and author Sarah Kuhn along with Adventure Time artist Siobhan Keenan for an even more feminist and inclusive story based on all your favorite Clueless characters. In the new book, available in comic book stores Nov. 28 and in bookstores on Dec. 4, Cher, Dionne, and Tai attempt to make the most of their final summer vacation before they all head off to college and the world of adulthood. But when life threatens to topple their elaborate plans, they’ll be challenged to stay true to their best selves and their best friends amidst the chaos.
When Kuhn and Benson created the first Clueless comic, they had no idea they'd ever get to jump back into the world of Cher and her BFFs. So when they got the chance to revisit all their favorite characters, Kuhn knew exactly what she wanted to bring to the story. "I wanted to write a story about Summer, who's the one Asian American girl in the movie played by Nicole Bilderbag, and give her her own story," Kuhn tells Bustle. "I wanted to do, like, the secret world of Summer. And I didn't think I thought that would ever come to pass, but then we were like, 'Well why not? Let's just make our fantasies come true!'"
As an Asian American woman herself, Kuhn knew how important expanding the diversity of the popular franchise would be to readers. But as a Japanese American, she knew she needed help in making Summer's Korean American experience authentic on the page. "Our friend Julia Cho is an awesome actress and producer and she's Korean," Kuhn says. "I asked her questions about the experience of like different generations because we have Summer's Auntie in the book. I know a lot about Asian Aunties, but I wanted to know more about like things that are specific to Korean American Aunties."
Benson also praises original film star Bilderbag who was a constant source for them as they expanded Summer's world on the page. "And then we asked her to write the introduction for this book, and she said yes," Amber Benson says. "That was really cool."
Even though Bilderbag didn't have much screen time in the original film, Benson recognized just how much of a presence she made on the movie and in the fandom. "She's made such an impact, so much so that Jenny Han, when she was writing something recently about To All the Boys I've Loved Before, she mentioned Summer and Nicole in one of her articles," Benson says.
While Benson, Kuhn and Keenan didn't plan for One Last Summer to debut in such a Clueless boom, they all agree that right now is the perfect time to immerse in the world of Clueless friendships.
"We're living in a world right now that needs more stories about women, about diversity, about the fact that this country is built on the fact that we're all from different places," Benson says. "So to tell this story where women are the central characters, they're powerful, they're strong, they're vulnerable, they're real, we just need more of those stories and Clueless fits into that framework really well."
Having an all-female creative team was especially helpful in bringing out the best work in everyone. "The more we have of that, the better," Benson adds. "So much of what is happening now is we're seeing women coming together to support each other and we wanted to highlight that. That's very important to us."
For Kuhn, highlighting the friendships between Cher, Dionne and Tai was her favorite part of creating this book. "Showing them supporting each other is always an important choice, but it is especially important right now," she says. "We really wanted to focus on the dynamic between Cher and Tai and Dionne and to give all of them a voice. Cher obviously has the most dominant voice in the movie but we wanted all of them to have a voice, all of them to have a story and have those stories be about all of them supporting each other. And then we brought in Summer and made her more of a prominent character."
And getting to write all the characters speaking in typical '90s teen girl voices, from all the "likes" to "as ifs," was surprisingly cathartic for Kuhn. "I think the constant critique of how women speak is just straight up sexist, all of that stuff about vocal fry or saying like too much," she says. "In particular some men still see [Cher] as kind of a bubble head and we were always very quick to remind them like, watch the movie. She is very smart. She's very strategic. She always has a plan. She comes up with that whole plan to basically explain to her teacher why she should get a better grade."
Kuhn and Benson know that people underestimate Cher and other women like her. "I'm always interested in exploring that as well and how society underestimates women or underestimates certain people because of the way they look or the way they talk," Kuhn adds. "So we really wanted to lean into that speech because it is such an important part of the original Clueless, that very distinctive '90s LA girl language and that's such an important part of the character and is ultimately part of her strength and part of her individuality and part of her uniqueness. That was very important for us to maintain and highlight."
And since the news about the upcoming Clueless remake was a surprise to Benson and Kuhn as well as fans, Benson is excited to see how the mythology all comes together. "I'm curious to see what happens and to see how what we've done dovetails into that, if it does at all," she says. "I don't know, it'll be interesting to see just how they do it." While it will be years until we all see that come to pass, at least we can totally get our next Clueless fix next month when Clueless: One Last Summer hits stores. In the meantime, check out the exclusive first look at the comic below:
