the amount of surprised pika “wait people actually shave their arms?” comments on posts about body hair are so funny like I unironically am so happy for you that you weren’t laughed at by a classmate for having hairy arms “like a man” in like 4th grade this is why I wish body hair conversations would stop centering around armpit hair

#okay that’s the tldr but the way I actually remember it is that the classmate (a boy) pointed out my arm hair and ask why so hairy #and I genuinely was so confused I was just like idk??? and then later at home that day I asked my mom about it and she was like #It’s bc your dads side of the family is hairy so then I later talked to that guy again like ‘I take after my dad’ or whatever #And /then/ is when he laughed and was like ‘but you’re a girl’ about it #Granted I’m non-binary but like I didn’t know that in elementary #Plus I didn’t stop shaving until around mid 2010s and was still self conscious about it for years #Like I remember feeling embarrassed during college (2018ish) if I had to use the rest room and someone else was in there when I would roll #My sleeves up to wash my hands #Anyways I eventually stopped caring about it sometime within the last year or 2 but see how long that took? It really shouldnt #Like some of us just genetically have more darker thicker visible body hair than others and we shouldn’t be shamed for it #One thing at a time though because even I’m still working through leg hair shame #I don’t shave them anymore but I also haven’t worn shorts outside of my bedroom in years #I’ll literally switch into shorts if it’s too hot right before bed and switch back into pants before stepping out of my room in the morning #I’ve been feeling cute the past few days and it’s starting to warm up again plus also had a convo w mom recently so #I might change that soon but only within the house still bc baby steps <3 #Anyways I’m just rambling now so I should stop. #idk about you guys but i find something deeply poetic in the fact that godfather and bottoms are like. in the same convo #rwrb got pushed to 10th place when i remembered that i did actually watch the godfather trilogy this summer #hate to give a coppola some credit but the godfather is a classic for a reason #it even kept my mum (the jane austen addict who hates blood and violence) invested and awake for the full run time #marry me with jlo and owen wilson got pushed down to 11 when i remembered die hard asdfghj #the ones who got away (2023 releases) are joy ride and scrapper. and aftersun. and past lives #if i have to pick a fave it's rye lane #it was just so iconic in every way #the script the visual story-telling the characters #the peckham of it all #also quite funny how obviously i gravitate towards a movie of colour #like. white people can make great art and i'll likely get to it #but i've spent a whole lifetime seeing those movies and now i'm gonna go out of my way #to make sure i watch all the movies of colour that interest me #polite society and they cloned tyrone and rye lane really just tick all the boxes for me #in terms of like. sci-fi/magical realism within the plot or the visual choices #i really mourn the lack of attention they got but i also know neither of them got a cinema release in sweden #and neither of them got any kind of substantial promo in sweden #so i can only assume it's a similar deal in other places #tragically enough

i was tagged by @coldshrugs @lavampira and @impossible-rat-babies, ty beloveds!! 💗💗 not tagging anyone bc it's v late but if you want to do it pls tag me! i am very slowly working my way through what i am thinking of as the "first chapter" of this au, so here's the most recent bit that i wrote.

Y’shtola could see the slight curve of their smile as she swung the coat over her shoulders. She slipped her arms into the sleeves, which hung far past her fingertips. “Sneaking me out the back way? Whatever will the others say?” They laughed. “A few of Count Fortemps servants agreed to cover for me while they could. It may be a while yet before anyone notices I am gone.” Corisande pushed open the door, and Y’shtola shivered as she followed them into the cold. The servants must have left the coats for them, but if Corisande was going to such lengths to leave in secret… “Is Haurchefant aware of your absconding into the night?” she asked, hoping her voice remained neutral. “He is,” Corisande answered absently, leading them down a path through the garden. “‘Twas partly his idea, though he agreed ‘twould not please the Count were we to both leave so soon. He was willing to martyr himself on the Ishgardian nobility so that I may take my leave of them early.” A sharp twinge of irritation passed through Y’shtola. Was this who she would be to Corisande now? A mere consolation prize, the person to fall back on only when Haurchefant was unavailable, never to be chosen first again? Part of her wanted to turn around, to go back inside, hang her borrowed coat up, and leave through the front door where they would not follow her. A small, inconsequential part of her that melted away when Corisande turned back to grab her hand once more, tugging her after them.
