Masaru frowns for a moment before cards flick between his hands and he slams the deck onto the poker table.

"Let's gamble."

He grins as a few people begin to take a seat around his table.

Hey, everything is on the line here

There's no time to hide behind your little excuses

Take your deck and let's play

Masaru deals out the deck of cards and plays with his chips as he picks up his cards. His grin almost falls before he sighs and places his cards on the table.

It’s not some children’s game we play

You’ve been dealt a hand

Don’t try to act all sad

All of us have cards we don’t want to show

Masaru rests his head on his hand as he huffs at the table. He places a few cards between his fingers with a small smile, just to entertain himself. It doesn't exactly work as everyone is not making a move and staring at each other as chips are occasionally thrown in.

“Wanna leave?” Masaru blinks and looks up at the voice. “Should’ve told me earlier.” He grumbles.

“Eh, you seemed busy thinking. Didn’t wanna bother. You up for another round?” “Why the hell wouldn’t I be?” He smirks.

“We’re heading over to the convenience store. See you there.” The other waves at Masaru before marching away from the table Masaru is sitting at.

Masaru shoves a hand into his pocket, making sure something is there before nodding to himself and getting up to follow the other.

I don’t care if you hate what you’ve been given

The person Masaru is staring at uncomfortably shifts in their seat as the others throw in a couple more chips.

Masaru throws a few chips in as well. The person he’s staring at is forced to do the same.

This isn’t some children’s game

You’re trying to “Hide”

I’m not in the mood to “Seek”

“Ha hey! Masaru-san fucking did it!” Someone barks and grins as they side hug Masaru. Masaru grins. “You knew I would. Now, cough up!” Masaru glances at a few other people, who roll their eyes with a grin and pull some money out of their pockets.

They place it in Masaru’s hands, whose grin grows wider.

“Told you all I could do it. I’m not backing down from anything you give me. I’m gonna fucking win all your bets and you can’t stop me.”

“Yeah, yeah. We know. You’ve told us many times.” One of the people who paid Masaru groans. “Seriously, I’m going to go bankrupt on this shit.” “Seriously? You should’ve just said. We’ll do a couple with you next time, dude.” 

“Ha, thanks.” They grin. “Is it for…?” Someone asks. “Nah, for school shit. They keep upping the payments. It’s annoying.”

We aren’t little kids

Trying to ask for a “Truth” or “Dare”

“So, what’s next? What dare you want to bet on next?” Someone asks. The person side hugging Masaru lets him go and thinks. “I have an idea.”

But I guess I wouldn’t mind a challenge or two

“Alright, tell us. We haven’t got all day. Iwai-san already got us that alcohol.”

The person thinks for a moment. "Gotta put that alcohol to good use, right? Meet up at my place. We can probably do some very chill stuff there."

"Seriously?"

"C'mon, man! That's fucking boring."

The person rolls his eyes. "Look, there's an idea I have, but we have to do it in the future. Not right fuckin' now. 

"First, we drink until we can't." They cheer.

It's not some children's game we play.

Masaru flips a coin a couple of times while he sits on his bed. He impatiently taps his foot as he watches the digital clock on the desk in front of him tick. 

When the clock reaches 2:55 p.m., Masaru breathes a "fucking finally" as he stands up and stretches. He grabs his black jacket and quickly pulls it on. 

Walking over to the door, he grabs a canvas bag. He usually wouldn't bring his bag out, but he was told to bring it in case. Hiroshi-san said something about staying there for a long time.

He looks around the room and walks back to his desk. He slides some boxes into his bag quickly and walks out of the door, shutting the door as he leaves.

You’ve been dealt a hand

"Masu, where are you going?" 

"I'm just going to go talk with some friends."

"Alright. Get home before dark?"

"I always do."

Don’t try to act all sad

Masaru shuts the front door behind him with an exhale of relief. He adjusts one of his necklaces and turns to the left. 

"Can't believe how much money everyone's betting on this one."

He grins. 

All of us have cards we don’t want to show

Masaru instinctively ruffles through his bag to find what he had slid inside it earlier.

A box of cards. 

He quickly takes the deck outside the box.

I don’t care if you hate what you’ve been given

Masaru watches as the final chips they can play are thrown in.

Most give huffs of folding and some with hesitant matches. 

Was it a good idea to raise the betting amount? He wasn't entirely sure, but it would at least weed out the ones who didn't want to be here. 

It was a little of a bluff, anyways. Glancing at his cards one final time, he exhales and stares across the table at someone. 

Their eyes flicker between their cards and the chips. 

The card’s right there

No hope in sparing it

"I…" They cough.

"Hurry up. You're taking forever."

"Okay, okay." They sigh. "Call."

They place their final few chips in the middle of the table.

The Ace of Spades is in your hands, so why don’t you play it?

The final two players call and Masaru smiles.

He lays his cards out. Just a pair of normal cards, nothing special.

Some show a similar hand, which isn’t too bad.

There are a two people who both have a straight, which makes Masaru huff. Splitting the plot.

Glancing at the final person, who nervously looks around, before placing his two cards. It's an Ace of Spades and a Five of Spades. 

Looking at the community cards, there aren’t any Aces there either. Ha. They couldn’t play anything to beat the others even if they tried.

Nothing.

As the chips are separated between the winners and someone else deals the cards, Masaru looks back at the seat across the table.

It's empty.

I know it's not enough, but the Ace of Spades is in your hands. 

You have to play it.

World/Universe: Reverie III vs Reverie IV vs Reverie V Reverie The Fourth loses HARD here bc the point of the World is coming to the end of a journey and being changed for it and he doesn't have enough personality to be changed. -1 to P4 Reverie the Third is a decent one who went through a lot and has enough personal stakes that I buy it. +1 to P3 I hate to say it but Reverie the Fifth gets +2. He feels the most complete of them all, so for the Arcana of Completion, or the Whole, it has to be him.

Okay I have no idea what that tallies up to, lemme see.

Persona 3: 10 points Persona 4: 4 points (OUCH) Persona 5: 19 FUCKING POINTS WOW THAT ISN'T EVEN CLOSE

My math might be wrong bc I suck at math (yay, dyscalculia) but that is a huge margin for error.

Honestly, makes sense. Like I said in the post-mortem, P5 succeeds in a lot of ways just for having actual adults available for the arcanas. P4 and P3 are so strongly limited to your classmates, there is only so many ways to make a high school student wacky and weird in a way congruent to their Arcana.

P5 has the worst Emperor in the series by far but it has the best Justice easily and possibly the best Sun and honestly a lot of the NPC SLinks are Just Really Good.

So yeah, P5 wins at something at last.

Wait, this dude is a Mementos Mission. He's a combo of 2MM. 6/18 you get The Phantom Thieves vs. Burglary Ring. The story matches up halfway and the dude's name is Makigami but it never mentions him having a brother. It's even the same shadow. Fake-Man Show in 3rd sem has a brother that he abused and he says the same thing as his shadow disappears.

Persona 5: Ramón's Comeback

I wasn't going to leave this post alone especially since I began playing Persona 5 Royal. Do know keeping up with multiple social links puts a dent in your wallet to make maxing them out easier. I'll delve into that later though as it's time expand on this concept.

Ramón appears in the world of Persona 5 after CLH Season 1 events come to a close and halfway through Kamoshida's Palace. For how he ends up there... You can say his heart cried out and something answer the call.

The Castle of Lust Palace definitely isn't a place Ramón wanted to wake up in. You can predict his reaction to what seems to be teenagers being constantly tortured or the obviously inappropriate decor. Thus the Phantom Thieves next infiltration turns into a run-in with a furious Ramón using real tommy guns on Shadows.

(For any oblivious Rayman fans, the action in Persona 5 takes place within the Metaverse. A realm of cognition where someone sees or thinks can become very real. Like realistic fake weapons being able to function similar to the real deal. Palaces are a dimension created when someone's heart becomes heavily distorted and their behavior turns very dangerous in the real world.)

Believing they could help each other, Ren/Joker convinces the Thingamajig to come with them. An arrangement that leads Ramón to join the Phantom Thieves. Since he doesn't have a Persona, the Limbless uses various gadgets to aim for Shadow weakpoints. Ramón's codename will be Enigma as that what he is. Now he has three reasons in why he joined the Phantom Thieves.

The first one is to keep the group from getting into a mess they can't get. Every member of the Phantom Thieves are children who are still trying to find their path in life. He also the only(non-Persona) adult that can help them out in both worlds without drawing a crowd.

The second is to find a way back to Eden. Even though this world's better than the dystopian nightmare he calls home, there are things Ramón has to do. He can't risk losing the only chance to fix Eden's corrupt society especially since his imposter is still on the loose.

The true reason however is redemption. Even if Ramón wasn't directly involved, his obliviousness to Eden's true nature had hurt so many innocent people. He CHOSE to look ignore the red flags and share their propaganda until Bullfrog showed him the ugly truth. If protecting these kids and changing the hearts of the corrupt is something he needs to do then Ramón accepts.

That doesn't mean the Thieves nor their Personas are gonna leave him alone. It isn't hard to see how broken Ramón is. Just like them, he is someone who also became an outcast to society and bears a tale just as tragic.

Thus Ramón gets dragged into so many shenanigans. Whether it be heavily dressed up to walk in public or passed around houses so he always has a roof under his head. Ramón does help which member he's staying with in some way. The Limbless is usually a tutor since Ann and Ryuji aren't the only ones who need help when it comes to their grades.

Sojiro does let him stay after he finds out about the group's identity although it took sometime to get used to Ramón's peculiar appearance. Can't forget a good chunk of older Ren/Joker's Confidants that get dragged in once he maxes them out. Ramón and Iwai would be a terror together though.

Also considering he's an adult, the man always gets dragged in more mature conversations with the team's Persona. Ramón absolutely butts heads with Carmen on multiple occasions and ain't afraid to call her a broad. She thinks its hilarious though thus teases the hell out of him.

Do not leave Ramón alone with Captain Kidd as those two probably have a drinking contest. The Limbless needs to work on handling his liquor healthily if his bad days are proof. And sailors love their booze.

Ramón is a sad drunk kind of guy to me. Thus Arseńe listens to his liquor fueled sorrows and tends to bring tea or water so the hangover isn't harsh. Any info about Ramón's life is heavily filtered since 'cow sushi' is a bit much for their minds.

Zorro makes sure the Limbless doesn't get in over his head. Ramón tends to be quite hotheaded and the Persona knows what trouble can come with unstable emotions. Someone had to keep Morgana out of trouble when it was just them.

The more he helps the group, Ramón will slowly grow alongside them. Forming bonds he never thought would happen and come to terms with his inner demons. It is only when Ramón learns to accept himself completely shall his own Persona emerge.

When it comes to the Arcana, he represents the Aeon Tarot. Fitting since the negative side to this is ignoring the truth and accept corruption like he done as Eden's newcaster. The more Ren/Joker strengthens his bond with the Thingamajig, he'll gain abilities which revolve around combat items alongside counter based techniques.

Ramón's Persona shall be the Almighty Element Augustus, specifically James Augustus Hickey the father of Indian Journalism. My personal take on what his entry could be.

'A pioneer of Indian journalism, James Augustus Hickey launched the Bengal Gazette from Calcutta in 1780. Augustus' writings commented on the inefficiency of the British administration in India. His newspapers served as watchdogs against those in power thus influencing contemporary thought and awoke civic consciousness among the people.'

Things are definitely gonna ramp up since Ramón will gain the abilities that his videogame persona acquired with every Palace he conquers. Our group of high schoolers are about to have a powerful and quite protective parental figure. Also if he could, you know Ramón definitely adopt certain thieves when those moments arrive.

I dont really do ToA anymore for multiple reasons- most of it being the final movie kinda caused me to lose my hyperfix on the series and the fandom left sorta a sour taste in my mouth (old drama, no point it unearthing it again but tldr; i dont like when fandoms become popularity contests where some become like the ‘leaders’ who people worship only their opinions and hcs and no one else) that I didn't feel like participating anymore sadly. and also my interests just changed, its Wizards fault i got into Arthuriana, and that led into monty python and idk i just like watchin mcyts xD

I honestly wish I still had some interest in it bc I left a lot (and i mean a lot) of fics unfinished that I wish i could have finished (IWAY and the Douxie fic especially) but everytime i open the wip i just get writers block lol

I do occasionally like go through the tag and rb fanarts to the sideblog @arthurshuge-tractsofland which is the only reason I made that bc if im gonna be real I want people to be on my art/main more for my current fandoms then like if i go back to being a ToA main (which I was for a good long while) but yeah!! Blank Page Brigade Spotlight: Staff

At the end of volumes of Black Clover is space for the “Blank Page Brigade.” This particular “brigade” is composed of the assistants (you know, those who help with art) and others from the Black Clover manga team, lead by “Captain Tabata.”

In each volume there’s a question that everyone answers. I’ve compiled the answers from all published volumes (1-32), and grouped them together. Previous answers (and drawings from the assistants) can be seen starting with this post here.

However, the rest of the staff didn’t include drawings, but they are each represented by an animal-like self (I don’t know if they drew that for themselves, or if it was Tabata or someone else). In the beginning, sometimes these animal selves would be expressing, but eventually it was just the icon; so I just have their answers since it’s just the same icon again and again.

Now specifically... I’m actually not sure what these particular brigade members do.

The first of these positions is: Comics Editor. This is apparently different than Editor (i’ll cover them in a different post) who is the one who helps with story writing. The Japanese version doesn’t clarify it much either: “editor” is 担当 tantou, and “comics editor” is コミックス担当 komikkusu tantou... literally just the Engrish word ‘comics’ 

I'm not sure what a "Comics Editor" does, but seeing as how this position is always filled I'd assume that Tomiyama was also around from the start, and that it took a while to figure out what the doodle was gonna be?

8. iwai!!!!!! i tend to forget his confidant often bc on new saves it's super hard to start and on ng+ i always leave it for later bc i don't need its abilities, but it's genuinely a really good one, story wise! i love kaoru and the dynamic between joker and him, i like how iwai basically adopts joker too, and the climax is very satisfying to watch!

7. yosuke! i'm ngl i don't like most of the IT's social links, but yosuke's (and maybe kanji's) makes up for that. it stays interesting and emotionally investing enough throughout and has an excellent climax (i just wish it had the original climax too lol)

Hello! I was wondering how you were doing as well. Nice to hear from you again! I have not written here in so long because my free time for writing has been mostly if not all poured into my Japanese music newsletter, This Side of Japan. You can check it out here if you'd like.

I am gonna be honest: I don't really know the Japanese canon when it comes to film. I am nowhere knowledgeable with movies. I have a feeling you are familiar with Kore-Eda, Iwai, Sono and the like who American folks are familiar with. The last exceptional and cult-favorite-ish Japanese movie I watched was Sion Sono's Love Exposure from 2008; it is nearly 4-hours long so it's bit of a dedication. A recent, fun, non-canon one I watched was last year's It's a Summer Film! It's pretty sweet and low stakes.

Surprisingly, he takes it in stride. Nobody can notice- he’s so good at acting as you, even you forgot you weren’t you for a moment.

In retrospect, it actually wasn’t very surprising at all.

You knew how good he was at blending in and pretending to be a simple high school student on probation- but damn you weren’t prepared at all.

He was smart and witty- and let’s just say you never want to get hit in the forehead with chalk ever again.

Meanwhile Joker is in your class, talking with your friends as if nothing was wrong. He’d answers questions you didn’t even know the answer to- which will prove difficult when you get back to your body and have to answer again in the future.

The only issue he had was probably having to use the rest room- he… tried really hard not to but you gotta do what you gotta do, you know?

When it comes to the phantom thieves however… If you don’t know he’s Joker, then you’d probably find out really quick via the others.

If you do know he’s Joker you’d probably go straight to Makoto or Ann and ask them what might’ve happened- even though they don’t have an answer.

It wouldn’t last for very long though, luckily you woke up in your own body the next day. Prepare for Joker to be 5x times the tease he normally is though.

RYUJI

Yes, he screamed in shock and yes, he instantly looked down the shirt in delight.

Your guardians probably stared at “you” funny as “you” struggled to get yourself out the door.

Ryuji is a wreak, bless his heart, he has no idea what he’s doing.

If he’s honest, he’s thought of this kind of thing before. The thought of being in his S/O’s body- or any female body honestly seemed cool to him.

Ah, but then you’d wake up in his body. He was used to the stiff muscles and sometimes aching pain in his leg but you most certainly were not.

Luckily his mom was out, but you could feel “your” entire body screaming for help. How he dealt with this pain was beyond you- and having to walk with a limp made you realize how strong he really is.

If you’re a quiet student that nobody talks to and you don’t really answer questions this will be an easy day for both you and Ryuji. However, if you’re a rather studious student, it’s going to be complicated.

Ryuji doesn’t want to go to class but he has to because it’s your attendance. But when you show up to Ryuji’s class there’s more than a few shocked faces (more sighs than anything).

Running into each other is real awkward because you’ve seen yourself in mirrors, but never… right in front of you. And Ryuji was just standing there, slouching over and looking very tired.

“Do you need an energizing hug?” “Yes, Please.” Poor boy probably made you fail a surprise quiz but you just stand there and hug him tight in the middle of the hallway. Which, you know, is kind of cool because you’re tall enough to pick “you” up and spin “you” around.

Which is exactly what you do, much to his dismay

You guys end up switching back right before school ends, and luckily (for you anyway), right before he needed to use the bathroom.

YUSUKE

Yusuke finally knows how it feels to wake up and not be starving

On another note, waking up in a dormitory surrounded by paint everywhere passed out on the floor was a weird way to start your day.

The first thing you do is stand up and oh! It’s Yusuke’s apartment- but you don’t remember going over.

Until your gaze meets your reflection on the window, and ah you just tripped over some expensive paint didn’t you?

Being woken up to a meal for breakfast was something Yusuke didn’t know he wanted so badly until he got it. Experiencing something like this was like a beautiful heaven.

With his mood being so light in the morning he wanted to paint something but, as it turns out, you either don’t have paint or only have a cheap watercolor set.

School was going to be a bigger challenge, especially since Yusuke attended a school revolving around art while you attended normal Shujin.

You knew you couldn’t just… skip class to go and find him so you

The first thing you notice is your face as his screensaver- which was shocking considering it was always pictures of famous paintings or beautiful scenery he used for inspo

You quickly text You- er, Yusuke to meet you before classes to which he responds rather quickly that he was already on his way

Meeting up was surreal and strange…

And Yusuke wont stop talking about how he was staring at your body in the mirror for a while trying to burn the image in his head so he can paint you more accurately

He probably would’ve stripped down and started sketching your body if it weren’t for the fact he knew how upset you may be. However, if you gave him permission, he wouldn’t hesitate to do it as soon as possible before you guys switch back, whenever that may be

Lasted for 3ish days, enough time for Yusuke to fill half a sketchbook of various doodles of both himself (he found it fascinating that he can observe his form via something other than the mirror or a picture) and your body (in various clothing and poses without any clothing)

AKECHI

He’ll panic

The second it sinks in that he’s not somewhere he’s used to he’ll shoot up and look around frantically

Then, hell see your body in a mirror and thank god its you. But, for some reason he doesn’t see himself…?

Oh

O H

He’s initially really shocked but will try his best to calm down, look for your phone and try to call himself

You on the other hand took it much less… Intensely? You of course, recognized you weren’t yourself but came to the conclusion that this was probably a dream

Hearing Akechi frantically ask where you were as you answered the phone however, didn’t help prove your case very much.

He’d probably have you both call in sick and meet up at his apartment before coming in to try and figure it out

If you knew of his… Situation, he’d probably just try and spend the day with you and prepare for the following days, trying to help you understand what it is he does for both his job and school

You’d have to explain to him about your school life more as well- your grades, your friends, etc etc. He wants to be completely on the same page to work everything out and make sure no one suspects a single thing

However… If you didn’t know about his situation… He’d try and have you just not go anywhere and explain to you that you cannot answer calls from anyone that isn’t him, in fear that others might make him erase you

He is by far the most worried about your situation and his nice prince detective facade will shut down real quick. He’d by no means angry at you or anything, but the situation makes it hard on him to do what he needs to

You’d probably switch back after a day, and he’d collapse in your arms in exhaustion from pacing back and forth

Probably will trip and fall over everything trying not to freak out or seem overly excited

He’s 100% going to try and look down your shirt but freeze and get too embarrassed to finish his actions
