The meteor from FFVII and the moon from LoZ: Majora's Mask are usually compared for three things:

They are big and scary.

They land on the major city/town of their game.

They move too slow to actually destroy the world.

GameTheory made a nice video explaining the damage of the Moon, how it moves so slowly that the only real damage done to the land of Termina would be straight on Clock Town. The game itself shows the world in flames during the collision, but the math behind it doesn't add up. It's moving too slow.

But in Final Fantasy VII, that's the point.

Sephiroth's goal in the original was to become a god. He needs to absorb the entire Lifestream to do so. Many times throughout the game, the Lifestream is called The Blood of the Planet. And like blood, when there's a wound large enough to "bleed", the Lifestream gathers to clot it. Destroying the planet entirely would probably throw that glowing green planet juice into orbit, which would be much harder to get to in the long run (And the whole goal of using the planet as a vessel to sail the cosmos, but that doesn't come up until the sequel movie).

So Sephiroth, instead of destroying the planet with Meteor, just needs to severely wound it. He could have aimed for the random plains throughout the world, but even the flat landscape would probably result in less Lifestream concentration. Why? Because Midgar is already a wound on the planet. It has eight (8) mako reactors. EIGHT. Mako is literally the Lifestream being converted to electricity. Each reactor is it's own cut, its own stab. It's just not severe on its own. Sephiroth's strategy is simple: put salt in the wound and make it bigger. In this case the salt needed is a little larger than tablesalt and the wound is a literal city.

Meteor's massive size but slow descent wasn't just an aesthetic choice to strike constant fear into the hearts of the players. It 100% aligns with Sephiroth's plans.

1. How many works do you have on A03?

18 as of a few days ago!

2. What's your total A03 word count?

157,937! Which is. Only a fraction of the word count in my Docs folder. Be prepared.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I mainly write for The Legend of Zelda; specifically Linked Universe! In fact, that's all that's posted on my Ao3 currently, since my fall into that fandom began with me uploading there! Pre-Ao3 I wrote for Black Cat (Anime/Manga), Megaman NT Warrior, various Pokémon things, Assassin's Creed, Yugioh, Final Fantasy XIV and Octopath Traveler! Some of these I still write privately, but I haven't gotten around to re-posting any.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

Whistling on Deaf Ears - My longest fic on Ao3, focusing on Wild and Twilight's friendship and how good intentions can lead to disaster.

Iconoclasm - Warriors deals with the room full of portraits in Cia's palace. The Chain also deals with it, but with a bit more fire.

Deserving - Twilight finally tells Rusl that he was the wolf in the village during TP, but that also means dealing with some heavier topics. Colin half overhears them and forms his own conclusions.

Something Greater - The start of the "Hyrule can see magical auras" series! In this one we deal with Legend and his many rings.

Ocean Magic - Mermaid Legend and Zora Time have a race and then fight one of the Big Octos from WW! Fun times.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Every single one!! I love comments, they give me an excuse to ramble about my fic more!! I am always down to ramble about every single insignificant detail of any line and/or section. If you ever want more background info about one of my fics, look to the comments!

So please, I adore comments, I treat them like treasures, not responding to them would be a CRIME.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

There's no contest; Inevitable, my (so far) only MCD fic.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Hmmm, that's hard to quantify. I usually try to end fics on a hopeful note regardless. I'd say possibly either Deserving, where Twilight reconnects with his family, or Shimmering Blue, Striking White, where Time meets the Fierce Deity settled down on Satori Mountain and they both get closure.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Thankfully, no! I've been blessed with mostly amazing and patient readers, even when my upload schedule isn't the best.

9. Do you write smut?

No, not really. I've attempted it, but I'm too asexual for it lol

10. Do you write crossovers?

Very, very rarely. Mostly privately, and only very specific ones. Only a single one has had an actual plot, so far (more on that one in question 15!).

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Also a nope! I tend to write for smaller fandoms, where these things don't tend to happen a lot!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have! But it's been a while. Over a decade, in fact! I tried to find the fic to link it here, but it was on the German fanfic website fanfiktion.de, and my friend who posted it back then must have deactivated her account, because it's nowhere to be seen (I still have the Word file though!). It was a Multi-Crossover that started as an RP in a forum, and we took turns turning the RP into prose one chapter each. "If a Hero Turns to Dark" was its title. We were edgy teenagers.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Hissssss. Bad question. Shoo. They are all equally important!!

But it's probably TenRose from Doctor Who.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

One of the very few crossovers I've ever worked on; a crossover fic between Assassin's Creed and Doctor Who, that I have mapped out in both chronological and timeline order, and yes, those are different. I only ever wrote about a quarter of it, since my primary audience of it disappeared when we graduated. I doubt I'll ever pick it back up properly, and if I do it'll probably go through heavy rewrites first since it's so old. Finishing it is a nice thought, but realistically, after 9 years it'll never be high priority enough for it to actually happen.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, especially arguments, and emotional impact. I've been told I do really well making characters feel alive and believable! Also I like to believe I'm decent at setting a scene and giving it the vibe I want it to have!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I struggle with dialogue tags when nothing much is happening besides the talking. I always feel it's too bland, and fall back on the same phrases. My scene transitions could use some work too.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've done this with Japanese phrases, because I was a massive weeb. Usually I followed them up with their own translations, though; I'm not the biggest fan of footnote translations, unless they are properly linked to. Simple dialogue tags are my favourite way of indicating a language switch.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Black Cat the Manga/Anime! It's a series about an assassin turned bounty hunter trying to live a life separate from his murdery past, but getting dragged back into things by still wanting to avenge his best friend's death. The series has a special place in my heart and my bookshelf, it left an imprint on 13-year-old me that will never leave.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Probably Jailbreak, uncharacteristically enough! It's one of the only fics I never got stuck in once. Writing it was a great feeling from start to finish. I love writing all of my fics, but that was a special few days.

Pairing: Romantic - Sharing

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Manipulation, Overprotective behavior, Paranoia, Stalking, Poly/Sharing yanderes, Isolation, Forced/Dubious relationship.

I'd imagine this being like an alternate version of Zelda's concept.

While Zelda's concept mentioned Link being involved in protecting you, I didn't go too far into it.

If they were sharing it would go similarly to Zelda's concept but with Link being more involved with you in general.

Zelda would've known you as a childhood friend but has been scared to admit it to you.

Plus she has to fulfill and train for her destiny/research technology.

As a result she has only been able to act as a close friend to you.

You two talk all the time just like in her concept and for the most part it's the same.

Here's where things change.

Zelda is annoyed by Link's presence as her knight at first.

She feels she doesn't need some protector following her around and is annoyed by his presence like in the cutscenes.

She'd much rather hang out with you alone than with him tagging along.

During this time while Zelda is annoyed, Link ends up getting attached to you.

He watches you and the princess chat and just can't stop listening to your voice.

He ends up following you while protecting the princess as he seems interested.

Zelda probably can sense this which only makes her more irritated than she already is.

Zelda tries to tolerate Link until she's eventually attacked by the Yiga Clan and saved by him.

It's at this point she begins to care about him more.

She may even accept the fact that they both have an interest in you.

As her own obsession develops she may even ask Link if he feels anything towards you.

If he admits to it then Zelda isn't that annoyed.

She can't blame him... after all, he isn't that bad of a guy and she's fallen for you two.

Zelda may admit to Link she also has feelings for you... for awhile now... but she doesn't mind sharing.

This is what makes this concept different from Zelda's.

While you're unaware the two have already decided they wish to date you.

Zelda continues to act as your close friend while Link acts as a protector for you both.

Link would be the one more prone to stalking but relays any info he obtains to Zelda.

The two would plan and watch over you until a confession eventually comes up.

Zelda may confess that she and Link have fallen for you and wish to pursue a shared relationship.

If you refuse then they'll be patient.

Both of them will want to still protect you as they love you.

They're willing to wait as long as they have to in order to have you love them.

If you say yes, they'll accept you with open arms.

Expect kisses and hugs... all sweet actions from the two.

No matter your choice the two vow to love and protect you.

To an obsessive and overly protective degree.

This escalates when The Calamity awakens and the whole plan to seal Ganon fails.

Similarly to the Zelda concept she decides the best way to keep you safe is to seal you away.

The princess becomes overly stressed as Link by this point jumped in to protect you and Zelda... dying in the process.

This means both you and Link are sealed away while Zelda holds of Ganon for 100 years.

This brings us to the time of Link's concept.

When Link awakens with memory loss, he's told to grow stronger yet also find you.

This leads into a long journey to find you in a shrine of something sealed away.

Link has memory loss of the relationship he had with you and Zelda.

Yet the hero still feels an overwhelming urge to protect you from danger.

To the point he never wants to leave your side.

You may remember him, you may not, either way it's a bit unnerving to you how close this man hovers around you.

You're most likely kept in a village until after Link fights Ganon.

He forces you to stay put and visits you often as he goes to cleanse the Divine Beasts.

He slowly begins to fall for you again, even more if he manages to regain his memories.

It's to the point he wants to kiss and hold you again... to feel your warmth and adoration.

Yet he knows he has to rid the world of Ganon first.

After all... Zelda must miss you too.

By the time Ganon is gotten rid of (for now), the events have affected the both of them.

Like in Zelda's concept, once Hyrule Castle is rebuilt, she has you locked away in your own little room.

She tries to tell you it's to keep you safe as she fears you'll be in danger again.

Link agrees to this and stands as your guard.

He takes it as his job to keep you in Hyrule Castle.

The two still treat you well and give you affection.

They kiss you, praise you, and hold you close.

Yet they take away your freedom.

Zelda explains it's for the best while Link tries to comfort you.

Surely you'll understand...

They only do this because they love you.

Mask (Baby Hero of Time) looks like that because he's worn the Fierce Deity Mask too many times for extremely long periods, and now it's started to stain/scar his skin.

I'm also putting her little doodle she made me bellow too.

Mask (Baby Hero of Time) has a/his shadow following him around. This is apparently my sister's view of their relationship.

(She was nervous about letting me post the gif and required that I clarified that it's a low effort, quick animation she only made to get a laugh out of me, lol. She was correct about making me laugh. I was in tears for, like, an hour.)

These pieces of art are both from an AU of mine that we roleplay a lot.

I'd explain more, but it's built off an alternate timeline/universe of @wutheringmights story "Call them brothers". And I'm not sure what her rules are about fanart or fanfics, mostly because I never asked or looked into it and I never intended to.

I make AUs for the fanfics I read, write fanfics for those fanfics with thousands upon thousands of words in them and then never post them or do anything other than hand them to my sister to read. She does the same with her art.

...Fandoms are messy enough without me accidentally stepping on someone's toes. (I think my sister doesn't post her art because she's too unconfident though.)

That aside, Call them brothers is literally my favorite fic I've ever read. I know we like to throw that phrase around in the fandom a lot, but I have every intention of getting that sucker printed and bound once it's finished. I've been reading Fanfiction for nearly a decade and this is the first one I've wanted to do that for.

If you're a person who enjoys darker stories and want a story line with some actual consequences for the characters, I'd totally recommend it. The last time I was this gut punched over characters and their development was Red Rising by Peirce Brown (My favorite published book series ever), and Wuthering's descriptions of a war ravaged country and all it's horrors is fucking immaculate.

I found Call them brothers through my desire to see a longer fic that had Spirit Tracks Link, and it did. not. disappoint.

Wuthering's takes on what Spirit's abilities, character traits, and game culture/lore are currently my favorite I've seen from anyone in the fandom, and I would doubly recommend the fic just for that.

That said, it's not a story for the faint of heart. It's Dark. With a capital 'd' for a reason. Wuthering doesn't add all those tag warnings for no reason. Also, if you can't stand to see one of the Link bois written as anything other than what the mainstream interpretation for them is, this isn't for you. War isn't out of character, but he's certainly a bold take. A fantastic one, but bold none the less.

Plus there's mild mentions of Links being interested in other character's that aren't their Zeldas or their typical love interests. There is NO shipping of the Jojo's characters amongst each other, but if you're the kind of person who can't stand alluding to characters having crushes that aren't Link x Zelda, it isn't for you.

I know there's some people in the fandom who don't like that kind of thing, so I thought I'd mention it. Also, you've been warned so no being mean to Wutheringmights about it!

If you're okay with the things I've listed, please, please, please give it a read. @wutheringmights deserves all the love for writing something so good.

(Anyway, I could ramble for hours about all the reasons Wutheringmights is my favorite Author in the LOZ fandom, but this was supposed to just be a post about my lil sis's art that got waaaaay away from me.)

Have a "Urbosa, The Gerudo Chief" snippet from my Zelink role-swap 'verse (Age of Calamity edition)

Given that Queen Lianna had sent Link to recruit Chief Urbosa, they couldn't go into Gerudo Town itself. Lady Impa could have entered the town and passed along the queen's request, but Urbosa had written directly to Link, to tell him she'd meet him at Kara Kara Bazaar.

Zelda heard the rumours, of course. People said Chief Urbosa hated Queen Lianna. The rumours said Chief Urbosa lost her temper at the mere mention of Queen Lianna's name.

Zelda had not been at court long, but even she heard how few people believed Urbosa would take the role of pilot. None of the servants believed she would willingly work with the queen. The nobility thought otherwise; they insisted Urbosa would "see reason" and accept the title.

Zelda just hoped Urbosa wouldn't aim that infamous temper at them.

Prince Link, usually so silent and solemn, picked up the pace when he spotted Urbosa and her quartet of guards. His eyes totally lit up and, although he didn't smile, even that small change totally transformed his face.

Impa said Lady Urbosa was a kind, albeit no-nonsense woman. Impa said the Gerudo Chief highly favoured Link; that she loved the prince as her own.

Chief Urbosa, to Zelda's bewilderment, did not appear happy to see him.

"So, the queen isn't here?" she asked, sneering. "Nor is the princess?"

Link faltered. He shook his head. No, he signed. You knew they wouldn't be here.

Urbosa sighed. "...Fine," she snapped, rolling her eyes. "I suppose you'll do. I can still send a message."

With that, the Gerudo Chief unsheathed her scimitar and rushed at Link with a battle cry. Urbosa's guards gave startled screams.

"My lady, stop!"

"Lady Urbosa, have you gone mad!?"

"What are you doing!?"

"No!"

Impa and Zelda jumped in front of Link, blades raised. Link unsheathed his sword, but he looked as horrified as Urbosa's guards. The guards ran forward, trying to intercept Urbosa and her apparent fit of madness.

Just as Urbosa's Scimitar of The Seven was about to clash with Impa and Zelda's swords, there was a sudden BOOM! Lightning crashed down from the clear sky, hitting Urbosa dead-on. The chief screamed and jerked about like a puppet. Her sword and shield dropped to the ground.

Just like that, in five seconds flat, the chaos stopped. Everyone froze, staring as Urbosa crumpled to the ground with a pained gasp.

"Really?" a woman drawled. "I leave for a few hours and this is what I return to?"

"Lady Urbosa!?" Impa gasped.

Marching across the bazaar, heedless of the gawping crowd of merchants, guards and travellers, was...Lady Urbosa? She was followed by a woman who closely resembled her. Each of them looked furious.

Urbosa (was it really her?) spotted Link and ran over, her face suddenly alight with panic.

"Little dragon, are you hurt?" she demanded.

Prince Link stared at her. Slowly, he shook his head. He smiled; a small, confused smile, but there all the same.

"Wait, but- but if you're Chief Urbosa then...?" Zelda trailed off uncertainly. Heaped on the ground, the other Urbosa stopped twitching and began to grumble.

"You morons have some nerve," the other Urbosa said in a man's voice. "Thinking you can go toe-to-toe with me..."

He leapt to his feet and, in a puff of smoke and red paper tags, he transformed from Urbosa's double into...Someone else. A tall, rotund man in a skin-tight red suit. He wore a white mask, painted with an eye; the Sheikah symbol upside down.

A Yiga.

Urbosa pushed Link behind her, her weapon aimed at the Yiga. The woman with her snarled and pointed her spear at the Yiga. Impa gave a horrified gasp and pulled out a second sword, aiming both weapons for the man's neck. Zelda stepped forward, wary gaze on the Yiga, firmly keeping Prince Link behind her.

"I'd have preferred gutting the queen or her little heir," the Yiga snarled. "And letting them bleed out on the sand. It would have been perfect for Lord Ganon, but instead she sent you."

One by one, more Yiga began to appear across the bazaar. Yiga on the inn's roof, surrounding the stalls; Yiga in the trees and all across the dunes.

"You'll do, Princey," the Yiga sneered. "We can still show your precious mommy what Master Kohga and the Yiga Clan are capable of!"

Thanks for tagging me @angelosearch! I've tagged a lot of people recently, so instead of tagging anyone specifically I'll just leave this open for whoever's interested!

1. How many works do you have on AO3? 36!

2. What's your total AO3 word count? 67,772.

3. What fandoms do you write for? So many. I'd say Final Fantasy, Persona, and Fire Emblem are the big ones though. I'd like to write more Zelda soon!

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? -"Nighttime Escapades" (219), "Maya and Tatsuya Offline" (104), "Link Visit's Sidon" (73), "Clumsy Frieren" (66), "A Port In a Storm" (64).

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, always! I love reading them, and they make my day! :) Only exception is occasionally I'll get spam or something.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? "From Up On Her Throne" Is my darkest fic so far. An Ultimecia character study, so not exactly uplifting lol.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Most of what I write is happy or uplifting. One of my Frieren fics, "Anytime, Anywhere". Is probably my fluffiest happy one.

8. Do you get hate on fics? Almost never, only time was this person (or bot.) who kept posting bible verses on any fics with LGBT pairings. Was mostly annoying because the comments were so damn long it took forever to scroll down to the delete button lol.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? That's most of the fics I've written! At the moment though I'm gravitating away from it, kinda burned out.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? No offense to anyone who likes them but I just really don't care for crossover fics for the most part, hahaha. The most I may do someday is like, a crossover between two FF games or something. Which barely counts in my book.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes!! I recently had my Apothecary Diaries fic, "Nighttime Escapades" translated into Russian. Still so happy about that!

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I haven't, closest I've had is a beta reader. I'd be open to trying it though!

14. What's your all-time favourite ship? Zelink or Cloti! Though I'll admit shipping isn't the primary reason I write fics.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Too many to name honestly. I've written plenty of stuff I've never posted, most of what I've posted the past few months I've been back on Ao3 is stuff I wrote a while ago.

16. What are your writing strengths? The big picture part of writing is where I think I shine. Like establishing the main theme of my story, a character's central conflict, interesting broad ideas I want to explore, etc. I'm definitely a discovery writer mores than a planner.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? Honestly I struggle with stuff like descriptions, making a scene progress naturally, giving characters unique voices. All the stuff that's more nitty gritty, it doesn't come naturally to me. Oh, and plenty of grammatical mistakes.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I probably would try to avoid it! I only speak English and wouldn't want to just use google translate or something. So unless I know someone who speaks the language, I wouldn't include it.

19. First fandom you wrote for? I think Naruto on FFN years and years ago, or The Legend of Zelda.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written? It's very bold to claim since it's not far along at all, but already love "A Poisoned History."! Though "Maya and Tatsuya Offline" is my best smut fic, since I did a good job with writing the buildup.

Tbh I'm pretty sure the average gamer believes in trickle-down economics

(this is in regards to the "I'm shocked more gamers aren't anti-capitalist" post)

Now I don't necessarily think that's true either. In fact, I'd say the reason the game industry is the way it is has nothing to do with economic politics. I'd say that the average gamer - or nerd in general, really - is a spineless coward who's too addicted to the dopamine hit to actually stand for anything if their wants ever clash with their purported morals. And I fucking hate it.

I'm not just saying that because I'm bitter, although you could make a case that I am bitter. But I even live under a rock and I got ample examples. Look at how well games we know are low quality, games made under unquestionably awful crunch and/or other awful situations, etc... look how well they sell! BDSP and ScarVio sold like hotcakes and they're unquestionably bad games for a $60 price tag. Starfield - which I have heard NOTHING good about, and looks like absolute trash - is apparently Bethesda's "biggest launch to date." Somehow that fuckass Cyberpunk game is still relevant. People are actually still playing Overwatch 2 despite ... everything. These are just games I pulled off the top of my head while I'm still waking up. The fact these games are KNOWN to be shitty hasn't stopped them from selling.

Sure, a lot of people made a big fuss about not playing Hogwarts: Antisemitism Adventures, but they were talking smack because they never cared about the game in the first place. So it was never challenging their morals. Oh, sure, they told us how even PIRATING the game was bad, and that anyone who bought it (or even talked about it) was helping put money in transphobes' and nazis' pockets. How quick their tune changed when they actually wanted to see the FNAF movie - suddenly, giving money to people known to max out donations to republicans ain't so bad. They knew the right answer was to not see the movie, but like, they really really want to! If you told any of these people you donated $30 grand to multiple republicans they'd probably, rightfully, have nothing to do with you. But they neeeeeeeded to see their blorbos or they'd die :'( so this time it's OK!

Same with the Mario movie. We know Chris Pratt is a rightwing chud who ousted a long-standing legendary voice actor for the spot because he was a recognizable name. We knew the Mario movie was a shameless cashgrab and a metaphorical foot-testing-the-water for uninspired video game cashgrab movies. And the test was a success. YEAH. PEOPLE STILL SAW IT. Enjoy Chris Pratt - who hates you for thinking Link is trans - playing Link in The Movie of Zelda, coming out in Q4 2024.

I know a lot of these are left-leaning examples, but this isn't exclusive to left side gamers. How many times have you seen someone upset because Shooter Game Whatever had just the sliiiightest touch of left-ish stances, they'd take to whatever to complain. But they still be playing the game too.

It goes beyond just games tho, nerd culture is all the same. Let's also talk about Nerd Protests. And how they're the most self-affirming, hollow bullshit.

Like two years ago, Twitch was having some problems. And I'm not referring to them literally breaking a woman's back live on camera, which they did do, and never helped her, and you totally forgot about, because human suffering is nothing in the face of dopamine. No, I'm talking about A Day Off Twitch, in which streamers were encouraged to take a day off of streaming as protest towards.... something. I don't remember. Seemed pretty important. Anyway, Twitch never even acknowledged the demands of the streamers. Like Adriana Chechik's broken back, they didn't do anything about it. And... there was never a second Day Off Twitch. There was abosolutely zero follow through. And nobody wanted to acknowledge it. Nobody did fucking anything. Instead of going "wow, they're not doing anything. We should CONTINUE TO PROTEST" you all patted yourself on the back after seeing one day of approximate revenue lost and went back to giving Jeffy Bezzolio cash by subbing to xXxvtuberfeetxXx or whatever. I literally never heard anything about this again.

And last year, reddit made some changes that people didn't like. An unignorable chunk of the site went dark to protest it. The CEO basically then said "eh, this change will make us money, and this protest will pass, so just wait it out." Like literally there was leaked memos saying "eh they'll get over it." AND HE WAS FUCKING RIGHT. Reddit was back to normal in like a fucking week. No changes made to their plans. And nobody went, "hey, fuckface, we're serious!" They just. Let it happen.

That's the thing. Gamers and nerds LOVE to talk a big talk until it inconveniences them. And then, they'll protest JUST ENOUGH to say that they tried. "Play the cards you been dealt" fuckin mentality. They were like "yeah I didn't watch Twitch during A Day Off Twitch, so I did my part! Oh, sure, nothing came of it, and then they literally had bodyguards manhandle a woman with a back broken in two places live on camera like two months later, but what else am I supposed to do?" as if not using twitch was not an option. as if using twitch was, in fact, an imperative.

And let's talk about Discord. you know, originally, for gamers. But now due to investments by social media moguls, it's worse than skype was. And be real, you know it's not gonna get better. Every two weeks they do something you all hate, and I have to hear about it. And again, Not using discord is never considered. Using discord is again, apparently, an imperative. When they made you guys change usernames - which I will actually go on record and say was not that big of a deal and that y'all majorly overreacted - it was such a prevalent, inescapable topic on social media you'd think they were literally committing war crimes. And since I've seen war crimes on social media recently, I can say that's literally an apt comparison. I see as much coverage about the IDF's crimes as I saw "DISCORD IS MAKING US CHANGE USERNAMES!" posts. And despite the fact you guys FLOODED them with feedback about how you didn't like it, they held fast and held steady. They knew it'd blow over eventually. AND IT DID. Within a month of the change y'all stopped making a fuss. Guess tellin your blorbo chat that you'd like to switch to Telegram (or Escargot, or a fourm, or IRC, or whatever) was more effort than just accepting the username change, huh? And now you've accepted ten or twelve other shitty things they've done since, eh?

And this all wraps up to my point nicely. Gamers/nerds have no spine, and regardless of what politics they say they believe - or perhaps genuinely believe they believe - push comes to shove they're going for instant gratification every time. Inconvenience is not to be tolerated, and wants are meant to be resolved in the easiest way possible (by giving in). The concept of taking a stand is LOVELY to them until it means actually standing up, because that requires minor personal sacrifices and gosh, we can't have that.

FRLG, HGSS, ORAS. Beautiful remakes. So when BDSP was announced - an ugly, 1:1 port with no added features, no additional mons (even including the ones introduced in BDSP's sister game PLA), made by a random software developer who had never made a game before, in unity, under severe crunch, for more money than the other remakes... I thought it was a slam dunk. We could finally tell TPCi to fuck off. Well, it sold about 15 million copies. At a $60 price tag, that means they made roughly $900 Million (roundable to a billion with a b) on what's unquestionably a shitty game. That one, personally, ruined my hopes for the game industry. Gamers will take whatever's given to them.

Games without the constraints of capitalism would be fantastic - but as long as capitalism exists, gamers will allow it to exist in the space. They don't have the spine to leave Discord - it's near sisyphean to expect them to control themselves enough to not enable the bad habits of companies.

JOE - honestly, at first I wanted to put him on top, but he'd get in his own way. Plus, I am sure Tal would have an idea to nullify his resurrection cycle.

PENELOPE - her and Joe are very even, but I'd say Penelope has a moral issue. So that would be her downfall, if she ran into Joe or Tal.

ALEXANDRA - not only would she get many sponsors, she's also very strong and regenerates. But she can die. And since Penelope's a hunter, I am sure she'd get her in the end.

ABEL - hella charismatic, would win over a ton of sponsors and allies. Smart, knows how to survive. But something tells me he'd try to bond with Alexandra, another intellectual person in the game, and that would be his downfall.

RAFE - He would be in the game for a very long time, simply bc he's physically strong. Also used to be a soldier. That makes up for his disadvantages, but he's a hothead and would be outwitted.

LUCIFERO - okay, we know he's got rich people who'd provide him stuff and he's also not a nice person, fights nasty to get what he wants. He has many magic tricks up his sleeves and could probably make his necromancy skills useful. But Rafe would crush him bc he's weak physically.

SAFFRON - she's physically strong with the demon, but way too impulsive. Luce would totally get her with a spell, probably targeted at the entity and then she'd be gone.

DAVEY - he's already dead. That's his only advantage. He'd want to befriend others, find allies, but I'm sure Saffron's demon would chew and spit him out.

OLIVER - he knows how to kill and survive in the wilds bc he's a wolf. But let's be honest, he wouldn't kill any of them, not if he has a choice. Davey wouldn't kill him either, I think he'd just try to save Davey and get killed in the process bc he's such a good boy.

ZELDA - well, her mutant powers are a thing, but she doesn't know how to use them. She'd probably kill Rachel on accident and Oli would get her ass bc of something random. Like another accident and only he'd get out of it alive.

RACHEL - he'd bee too stressed and panicky to think straight. Honestly. He'd be good for a small amount of time, but just not very attentive.

Cursed Toy AU Pov: You are Pixlriffs about to be saved.

Finally. A cursed toy au drawing that isn't me dumping the angst on Jimmy. Then again the AU seems intent on doing that. Whatever Joel is gonna do, I'm scared but I have a mallet on hand just incase.

So yeah. Oli saves Pix through the power of music... as cliché as it is I love the power of music so SING JOEL INTO OBLIVION OLI! MAKE ME PROUD! Guess I now have a justified reason to have the song of healing from legend of Zelda majora's mask on my cursed toy inspired playlist. But this was fun to draw, using lighter tones to overlay instead of harsh bright colours or dark edges is always a treat. Note to self, lutes aren't that hard to draw, just annoying to get proportions right on.

Honestly I'm excited on where thus AU goes next. I'm guessing Oli is about to find Jimmy in the next part. That's gonna be fun. If Joel turns up, I have a mallet.

... bonus, thing I made on youcut after the previous part came out. I think it's still accurate, but @circesays can be the judge of that.

Saw @aquaquadrant posted the new bit of the hels to pay AU and @lunarcrown did some little doodles of Bravo and Timmy.

I couldn't resist it, I had to draw Timmy. I have found a new son and no one can do anything about it. Take this quickly cobbled together drawing and go.

It's a bit rushed, sure, but I just needed to do this. He's too sweet and huggable and I don't care, he's a pathetic lil guy (affectionate) and I will fight for him and die for him.

There are a lot of little details in the Heartstopper show that are amazing, but one thing that really got me was Alice's cameo. Because I've watched Heartstopper grow a lot over the past few years. I remember regretting that I didn't back her Kickstarter campaign to publish volume one. I became a Patreon. Then Alice announced an actual book deal for Heartstopper. And later the idea of a TV got slowly announced, because hey, it wasn't certain, let's not get our hopes up. But then it was certain and it was on Netflix even. Alice got to work on her own show and the casting brought the characters to life and then they filmed it and now it's out in the world.

And it has been said many times that this TV show is an amazing adaption, that it's basically the pages coming to life on screen, as it should be. This isn't a loose adaption or 'based on' the original, no, it's Heartstopper on screen. Even in the stuff like the set and props, Alice's art is incorporated.

Then she's there. It's only a small moment, but she's there and she's sitting next to Nick and Charlie, two characters that have been with her since her teens, probably, since that's when she came up with Solitaire. They've been in her head for so long and now they're actually there in the flesh, and she's next to them. Her characters are there with Alice.

Long story short, I've never felt this emotional about a cameo.

12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

This is a hard one because the fandom at large likes every arc, it just evens out across the encampments of shippers lol. I feel like the most unpopular arc is probably Glimmer's descent in season 4 which I enjoyed a lot because, I mean, c'mon, getting to see Glimmer not fight with herself and instead just selfishly choose things was fantastic. She really just started doing what she wanted without actually considering anyone else or any other options, and it was so fascinating to watch her go for it after several seasons of this side of her being hinted at.

14. Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

We can WAAAAAY too much about shipping and want to make it everyone's problem.

"That isn't canon!" "I don't think there was enough subtext!" Blah blah blah, and?????? Shut the fuck up my dude.

Stop tagging your anti-whatever shit with shipping tags, block that tag on your side and move along. I don't care why you think C/A is abusive, I don't care why you think A/G is abusive, seriously shut up or keep it in your corner of the fandom.

I've been in fandoms that break down into smaller fandoms (star wars is by era ususally, zelda is by game, etc) and every fandom I've been in has done a good job of keeping their negative opinions contained to spaces where it's others who share it. She Ra is the first fandom I've been in, and I've been doing this 20 years now, where people really couldn't live and let live because they like this ship and if you don't then you're an awful abusive asshole to fit their narrative of victimhood.

I'm sick of that shit. To death.

You want to know what one of my favorite rarepair crackships is? Catra/Bow. But if I dared to explore it at all, in any fashion, I'd be murdered. The only fic I've ever taken down due to harassment after posting what an explicit Catra/Bow/Glimmer fic where they, as two consenting adults in a poly relationship, agreed to have sex with one another in large part to turn on their girlfriend Glimmer for her birthday. TERFs found that and gave me hell.

Like, you could probably find some of the really awful and explicit shit I posted when I was 13 and had no fucking business writing explicit fic or posting it, but now I'm locked out of my old accounts and can't actually remove them. But no, let's go wild over the C/B/G fic instead!

Ooooooo, you can probably tell that this pisses me off just because I keep rambling on, but god I'm tired. I'm a multi-shipper, ship what you want to, tag it appropriately and post in appropriate spaces kind of person. Don't like, don't read, and fuck off with your purity bullshit.

...This is pervasive enough that I'm actually fully expecting some people will unfollow me for that answer lol.

13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character? (Entrapta and Catra)

I feel like I don't have any unpopular opinions about Entrapta over all? Probably the most controversial thing is that I like that the Princess Alliance was shown mistreating her by leashing her. It's very much portrayed for laughs, but whether they meant to or not think it helped set up another difference between the alliance and the horde. Yeah, at first she's chained up in the Horde as a prisoner and we see how long that lasted, but she is literally given more trust and freedom with the horde. Where's Entrapta? Who knows! As long as she shows up again at some point we don't care. Is she distracted by tech again? Annoying, but alright she IS the tech person. Then Entrapta goes back to the alliance and once again they are just trying to control parts of her because they don't understand. IDK, I like the contrast of it, so even though it wasn't put in respectfully it gets a weird pass from me.

Unpopular but not in the circles I run? Catra did more than enough for a "redemption" on the show. It is amazing how many people hate that take.

Unpopular within the circles I run? Not sure this counts or not, but Catra really is a lot like Shadow Weaver/Light Spinner, and I don't think we lean into that nearly enough (either in the show or fandom tbh). Light Spinner especially really reminds me of Catra in early seasons, and seeing S5 Catra by the end is like seeing what Light Spinner could've been under different circumstances. But Catra is also a lot like Shadow Weaver, she is not wrong or lying when she says she sees herself in Catra. I think we spend too much time trying to justify why Catra is nothing like her, when they are really very similar. And I think that's a big disservice to the narrative of abuse in the show. No one wakes up one day saying, "Well gee golly, today I think I'm going to start being an abuser!" They slide into it and eventually start making justifications to themself for why it's okay/they're allowed/whatever to do what they do. Catra could've been the next Shadow Weaver easily, pretending otherwise lessens the impact of her choices to try and change her own behaviors and thoughts.

15. Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

The best friend squad is boring. Sorry y'all, S1 and S2 of the BFS are really not that interesting to me. It feels super basic, and the conflict has to be shoved onto them from other sources to have their dynamic work. I think there should've been more infighting and especially with Glimmer jealousy issues. Like, you don't have to go wild with it or anything, but they only start to become interesting to me in S3 when Shadow Weaver starts fucking shit up in the background.

They are cute and fun and I enjoyed their stuff! They just! Are also! Really boring!

(I used to actively filter out any fic that was too focused on the BFS, Glimmer, or Bow. At times I even blocked Adora because I live for the personal conflict drama and that was only even explored with Catra during S1-2)

STAR WARS

15.Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

I like that TCW never really talks about the way the clones are treated. TCW is mostly set from the perspective of the Jedi Order in some way, and I wish there had actually been more jokes made in show about it to be honest. The way clones are treated is horrifying, objectifying, and disgusting. I wish we could've seen more of how awful they were treated side by side with how no one seems to care.

Yes, the Jedi care about the clones, but they are so busy trying to survive themselves that there's nothing left in the tank to try and help them out in a meaningful way. Some members of the Senate care about the clones, but they are either focused on other peoples lives or are too afraid of losing their army to do anything. I love that. I love how fucked up that is, and I love that there are so many times in TCW that something horrible happens to a clone but then gets overshadowed by something else.

The citadel, of course comes to mind. I really love that there were troopers who died horrifying deaths during that rescue, who's bodies are left behind, who are quickly mourned through a wince and then abandoned. Then a Jedi dies and "Well hang on now, we gotta carry his body and give him a proper farewell!".

It's messed up, and I love it.

Time to talk about Stella. Remember last time I explained very poorly that before Shei died he split the goddess-blood essence into six pieces, five of which scattered across Hyrule and the remaining one he gave to Stella?

Yeah that's because Stella is going to become the Princess Zelda figure for the rest of the game. The quests of the second half of the story (after Shei dies) deal with hunting down the split pieces of the goddess-blood essence and recombining them with Stella as their bearer in order to defeat Ganon.

(Side note: the reason Shei had to manually give it to her is because the goddess-blood essence has always been passed down by blood, but Shei is the last living descendant of the goddess, so it would have nowhere to go unless he did the impossible and designated a new host/bearer. Also he believed in her and knew she could do it and all that jazz because he was the main catalyst for her arc of learning how to be a person and break free from Ganon's intentions and this is supposed to be his last act toward that end which will be fulfilled in a huge way that i will show in a moment.)

The goddess-blood essence contains the imprints of its past holders, and the more powerful/remembered/consequential the bearer was, the more predominant their imprint will be. Basically I'm saying that the five different pieces of the goddess-blood essence are cameos by past famous Zeldas.

We have the Essence of the Sky (Skyward Sword Zelda), the Essence of Time (Ocarina of Time Zelda), the Essence of Dusk (Twilight Princess Zelda), the Essence of the Sea (Wind Waker Zelda aka Tetra), and the Essence of Hyrule (A Link To The Past/A Link Between Worlds Zelda).

As Link and Stella collect the pieces, the goddess-blood essence grows more complete within Stella and she begins to gain access to its powers. But they're not the same as Shei's, since each wielder will bear the legacy differently. (Side note: the goddess-blood essence could also be called...........the legend of Zelda) I don't have her powers worked out but I do want her to be wreathed in golden fire like Tetra in the Phantom Hourglass manga.

And then, when the last piece is acquired and the full legacy of Hylia's line is complete, Stella gets a living body.

Yeah the picrews kinda gave it away but ANYway this thing is really meaningful to me since it's like Shei gave her the chance at life that was ripped away from him AND the culmination of her learning that yes she DOES have agency yes her choices DO matter yes she CAN throw off Ganon's influence-

and also its just really cool 😅

The clothes she's wearing are merely an attempt at vibes not like the actual clothes she wears although i do want her to wear a blue oversized sweater at some point

So yeah she has cool brown skin (that one in the sims is just slightly warmer than I'd like it to be but otherwise it's just right)(and her cheek shape isn't perfect but the sims is weird okay even if its the best fucking tool out there for this), really dark brown eyes, and "bleached" curly hair.

About her hair: Ideally she would have dark roots or something because I really want to sell the idea that her hair isn't naturally blonde. The only reason I want it blonde in the first place is to balance the color palette and provide more contrast against the other members of the team (Impa has a predominately warm palette with red brown and gray being the most prominent colors, Shei has a predominately cool palette with black white and purple being the most prominent colors, Link has a predominately warm palette with dark green and different shades of brown as her most prominent colors, and Stella has a predominately cool palette with yellow grey and blue being her most prominent colors). She would look really good with dark brown hair (with more cold tones) too, and I'm toying with the idea of a timeskip epilogue kinda thing to see how the characters have changed and she would have dark brown hair in that. In-universe her hair is blonde because of all the gold goddess magic, but that does kinda sound like "she's extra magic so she has light hair in order to stand out and be ✨special✨ around all the other non-black characters".

...........Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't see any reason why the cool yellow can't be in any other part of her outfit and not on her head (I think that's because I designed her via picrew and picrew is usually just shoulders up). Yeah. You know what I think I'll change that. If you have any advice or perspective I'd like to hear it!

ANYWAY heavy stuff aside, for her clothes, I'm thinking deep blue tunic with some weight to it + grey leggings underneath and maybe a cream sash of some sort? Her jagged sword and shield from her stalfos equipment would be strapped on her back, and she'd DEFINITELY still be wearing her blue ribbon bow. I'm looking forward to figuring out her design more! (maybe i can give her some light gold earrings to bring the light yellow back to her head.........or some hair accessories.........LIGHT YELLOW RIBBONS AND ACCESSORIES WOVEN INTO A LOC/BRAID STYLE HOLD ON A MINUTE I HAVE TO GO PICREW-)

So I finally gave in and bought Encanto's Three Sisters book. (it wasn't even $10 if anyone was thinking about it)

And OH MY GOSH IT'S SO CUTE!!

I'm not even half done reading it, but there are already so many little things it talks about that aren't obvious (at least to me) from watching the movie.

For example, it clarifies that Antonio is just SO shy and quiet all the time, up until he gets his gift. All three sisters have thoughts regarding this that sum up to the idea that receiving your gift in the Madrigal family just helps you to be *more* yourself, and believe it helped Antonio open up.

Mirabel, much more often, and in thought, feels remorseful about not having a gift. Isabela views recieving your gift as a sort of qualifier for being a Madrigal, like you can't truly be an integrated member of the family until you have yours, but even then counts Mirabel as an exception.

And, man, I can't even TELL you... Poor Luisa!!! She's so busy and stressed and anxious all the time!!! During Antonio's day, she's sent to set up fireworks around back, but she has to clear the area of brush and leaves first, and then some of the foliage needs trimming, and she's spending the entire afternoon between chores and taking people's wagons and donkeys to the side of the house for the event, and she has to bring in seating and set up furniture and decorations, and Abuela TOLD her to put the piano in the courtyard, and THEN told her to take it upstairs, and she is literally just busy, busy, busy until her Mother calls her for the start of Antonio's ceremony, feeling out of the blue because Luisa didn't realize how much time had passed through all that. Two or three times she thought maybe someone wanted a hug and then actually it was another chore or a prank or something and she's just so disappointed.

Not to mention the following day; reroute the river, fix the leaning house, move the church to the left, actually back to the right, now find the donkeys... Of course we know those already, but then one of the donkeys literally pees on her shoe, and apparently someone wanted the plaza repaved and Alma VOLUNTEERS Luisa without the poor girl even being there for it.... Just give this girl a break and a hug! It's all she wants!

(She literally has the best hugs, this isn't even a theory, she mentions it like twice just to this point 😭)

Also, can I just mention the fact that Isabela made a daisy chain necklace for Mirabel on her 5th birthday? And a little flower crown for Luisa on hers, too, because she was stressed out?

Furthermore, Isa isn't portrayed quite so stuck-up as she appears in the first half of the movie. I'd like to think that this is just a matter of perspective and none of what we see her as is really how she is, because she's just so nervous and stressed... Like, she loves her sisters! But she genuinely feels so nervous about how her Abuela sees her, and to no particular fault she just thinks that the things Mirabel goes on about, like cracks in Casita's walls, are made up, and she even envies how much more useful a gift like super strength is compared to her own, or how much less would be expected of her if she simply didn't have a gift.

Really, she does love her family! She wanted to comfort Mirabel when Abuela went to see the nonexistent cracks in the courtyard, but was scared that it would be misinterpreted and she would be judged harshly for it. Yes she cares very much about her image, even turning down a messier treat made by Julieta in order to keep her dress clean, but she does this because she was the first grandchild and knows that Abuela expects her to be the perfect forefront image of the family, something that is stressed all the time.

This isn't even the half of it, and I've not even *read* the half of it! I'm telling you, there are so many new details that the book adds to what we know of the characters and I love how much more depth it provides with a simple change in perspective. I could just go on and on, really.

Link is 17 you fucking weirdo

If we're talking Breath of the Wild Link - which I assume we are, because this is probably about my recent comment about Link and Sidon - then he's at least 17.

By and large, the game doesn't define his physical age beyond he was at least 17 in order to go up to the Spring of Wisdom with Zelda, which happened the day of the calamity - coincidentally, the day of Zelda's birthday.

So we know for sure that Zelda is 17 but Link is not stated beyond that.

Further, the implication, at least to me, was that Link is slightly older than Zelda - there was no big deal about him having to also turn 17 to go up with her (to postpone the journey) or about him turning 17 on the same day. Plus he was already an established Knight when they met. In the real world, becoming a full knight  (after being a squire) usually happened at 21 - not a 1 to 1 with the game, but it puts our ballpark between 17 and 21.

Additionally, the game treats Link like a full-grown adult the entirety of the game, with more than one NPC expressing romantic or sexual interest to Link in a way that would imply, to the audience, that he's 18~ish.

Which isn't to say your reading is wrong! Zelda and Link being similar ages is a standard reading for a Zelda, though not a universal truth. (For example: Zelda seems far older than Link's 16 in Twlight Princess) But to imply your reading is canon and true is a different thing entirely.

I will take the tag off my post for your comfort, but like... the general consensus between my friends has been that BoTW Link is 18, and that's the age we've been going with. I'll happily be proven wrong. But I'd like to see a source for it.
