I don't usually do reviews, but Spiritbusters really helped me out.
While my property did sustain an unfortunate amount of damage, I was assured that it was the spirit's doing and given a very generous discount! Thanks Spiritbusters!

I laughed when you said you regret reading the opinions on Twitter. I did too. I was wondering if we all watched the same show. So many people saying we got no EO. Like huh? Yes SVU was about Amanda but the EO was there.
Mirror Effect. Olivia was watching Amanda deal with PTSD. She wasn’t only seeing things from an ‘I’ve been through that too’ point of view. But she also saw how it was affecting Carisi and her kids. Amanda wasn’t taking therapy seriously and her actions was scaring the people in her life who love her. You can’t convince me that she wasn’t seeing Elliot in Amanda’s behavior.
And the being alone and learning to love yourself line that has people upset. That wasn’t just about her. That was about Elliot too. And Olivia saying that doesn’t mean the writers won’t flip things and have them move a bit faster. We just don’t know.
Then on OC. The show has often taken their titles from movies. Catch Me If You Can. A movie about a man who is always on the run. Taking on different personalities. That has been Elliot since Kathy was killed. In the bar, he saw the news story about the death of the cop with a wife and 5 kids. It hit too close to home. He looked in the mirror and finally saw Elliot Stabler. (Mirror Effect!) With so much pent up negative emotions, he did what he does when he can’t deal. He uses his fist. Hopefully this will lead to him going to therapy.
I feel like we are going to get EO but it’s not always going to be so in our face. We may get it in a more subtle ways until they can put Chris and Mariska together. This weeks episodes felt like progress to me. David is doing a great job working with the OC writers. People just need to be patient. The season just started! Lol
i've been thinking about this a lot, bc it's been three episodes, and i have seen people say they're disappointed in the lack of eo, when i've been living bc it already feels like so much more than what we were getting in the non-crossover episodes last season.
and the thing is, i wrote a post about this and then deleted it but i'm gonna say it here - it does feel like we're watching different shows, bc we are. everybody is going to bring different expectations and different backgrounds to the show, and those different perspectives will result in wildly different interpretations. a line i think is a positive for eo is seen as a negative by others; which one of us is right? ultimately, i think it doesn't matter. i don't think capital R Right is something we can be. i may disagree with people, but isn't a lot of this subjective? to paraphrase the dude, it's just, like, my opinion, man. so i do try to pull myself back. i'm don't manage it every time bc i'm not perfect but i do try to just. live and let live.
NOW that being said you raised some really interesting points about the epis i wanna talk about lmao
i find it really interesting bc i was so focused on the ways amanda's behavior reminded me of olivia - down to the scene of carisi disarming her at home just like cassidy had to do, to the point where i had to gif it - that i didn't make the connection between amanda's behavior and elliot's until you mentioned it. and what's really interesting to me about this is that both of those things are true - that you can draw a parallel between amanda and liv and amanda and elliot - and bc a=b and b=c, a also equals c. i wrote a lot right after elliot came back about the parallels between his ptsd and olivia's. and there's no way olivia hasn't noticed that connection, both to elliot and amanda. so it's a connective thread that's really fun to spin around in my head like a marble.
i wrote a post about the learning to love yourself line so i won't rehash my thoughts but - yes. exactly. AND we have no idea how fast the writers are planning to move things. we are getting episode four this week like this baby is just getting started we have such a long way to go and 2/3 of this shit isn't even filmed yet lmao
AND anon your mind!!! the mirror effect/elliot seeing his face in the mirror, what a connection! i am honeslty super excited about this season bc the shows are actually being written as if they exist in the same universe for once! the svu ME turning up on oc! nods to eo on both svu and oc! benson and stabler both getting mini mes to train! it feels so cohesive and that is so exciting to me.
i absolutely think we are getting progress. and subtle is how l&o has ALWAYS done relationships. no one knows when liv and tucker officially got together. liv fucked cassidy in the s13 finale/s14 opener and it was such a tease, we only saw her naked in a bed with two wine glasses on the table and someone in the shower, only got a little tiny nod from cassidy to reveal that something was going on. kurt moss appears out of thin air and vanishes just as quickly. a possible romantic something with bayard ellis was teased but never outright explained. this is not a show that hands us things. we have to pick apart the nuances. and the nuances say eo is full steam ahead, so i'm not mad at it.

It's been a few days, but if you were still interested in that ask meme....
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
=D Yeay! An ask!
Hooooo, okay, so, I have a LOT of fanfic that I'm theoretically working on/daydreaming about that doesn't get shared, but, uh, lets see what's not too horrifying to share...
I spent a couple of weeks a few months ago binge-watching Criminal Minds, and got infected by a plotbunny of Dean Winchester/Aaron Hotchner(/Haley Brooks) as a sort of... fix it crossover where, because they're both protagonists from rather different genres, their different approach manages to fix things in the other 'verse.
As in, Dean kills Foyet in proper I'm-fresh-out-of-hell-and-you-did-WHAT-to-my-boyfriend?! style. With added bonus 'you think you're good with a knife? Boy, have I got some things to show you. Say hello to Alastair for me when you get down there'.
And Hotch (and the team) profile the fucking devil so well they manage to talk him down from trying to wipe out humanity. (He goes off to fuck up heaven instead.)
I've gotten bits and pieces of, well, backstory written up, plus some 'Dean meets the BAU' and 'Hotch meets hunters' scenes that I love, but I've gotten stuck on something really stupid and just haven't managed to get my brain to move past it, so I haven't actually written the parts I started writing the story for yet ^^" (this happens to me a lot).
What else?
I have been working, on and off, on a Critical Role Time Travel AU that's actually kind of a spin-off of my very first Critical Role fic which is 'Molly lives rent-free in Caleb's head for the entire rest of the campaign' because as I was watching it I was constantly thinking 'but how would Molly react to this?!' so I wrote it (some of it).
And then I thought 'okay, but what if, okay, I know time-travel is supposed to be semi-impossible, but what if it is technically POSSIBLE, it's just that going backwards through time essentially destroys the soul/spirit/whatever, EXCEPT, of course, that when Caleb does it, he has a BONUS SOUL coming along for the ride, and it's basically enough for Molly to get through more or less intact?'
And then the Moonweaver is like 'fuck, you are my Most Troublesome Worshipper, what am I going to do with you?' and Molly is, you know, themself, so the Moonweaver, also being a goddess of lovers trysts, nudges things until Lucien ends up with twin baby brothers (Molly and Kingsley are both Aspects of the same being, and thus inextricably linked, so bits and pieces of Kingsley got dragged along for the ride, only not enough for him to have more than Weird Instincts) and a bonus Moonweaver Cleric mum.
Was this an excuse to write canon!verse Tealeaf triplets? Yes. Yes it was.
Did it turn into a Ridiculous Epic Saga of the Tea Leaves (Molly, Kingsley, Caduceus, Keg, and Ophelia Mardun) treking across all of Wildmount trying to save people from the future and stumbling into messes along the way? Yes. Yes it did.
Did I actually manage to write any of the actual story? No. I wrote backstory instead, and ended up mostly writing about the adventures of two separate Parent Squads that are probably... 40-60% OCs? doing a tiny little Molly's bidding. It very much became a And You Get A Parent And You Get A Parent And You Get Three Parents story.
I have Such Plans for this AU (including, importantly, a Shadowidomauk endgame), but, alas, actually writing it is proving... difficult.
One more for luck?
Hmm... I have Ideas for a Peaky Blinders AU based on my Little Sallyanne fic? It's not very well fleshed out yet, but it definitely results in Sally murdering the shit out of her brother's terrible wife, adopting her nibling, and going on to severely fuck up nazis when WWII rolls around.
This one is Percolating, and I'm really not sure what I want to do with it, exactly. Just general Vibes of Tommy being the feral gremlin mentor to my beloved feral gremlin child. (Also, Sally getting semi-adopted by Alfie Solomons, maybe, because here's this child going around claiming to be Jewish when she's not, and Alfie's like 'no, either you fucking Stop That, or you commit to the fucking bit' and Sally's like '-starry eyes- Okay Dad'. I would have to do a lot of research to do this justice because I'm aware that I don't know enough to know how to write this properly ^^" Basically, I just want everyone adopting her like a starving feral cat who will absolutely bite the hand that feeds her)
Technically, I think you can say that things like Never Simple, Not All Who Wander, and the various other unfinished things on my writing blog are all on a backburner right now? As well as the next instalments in my Somewhere Just Beyond My Reach and Gramarye and Trapped In The Amber series also count. I am Thinking About Them a lot, but there's either not enough for me to get my teeth stuck into, or my teeth are stuck and I can't chew on them properly =P

17, 30, 40
17.  What writing habits or rituals do you have?
Not...all that many, haha. When I'm in super productive/creative mode, I tend to have a word document or notepad to write stuff down during slow periods at work, or I'll write in the evenings. A lot of times I'll do sprints on my own (set a timer for ten minutes) and usually I have music playing, but not 100% of the time.
30.  Favourite idea you haven’t started on yet
Oooh, tough question. Here's a couple from different fandoms I keep batting around in my head but haven't done any real work on yet:
The newest one is probably the lovingly entitled Percussive Maintenance; basically Sam's memories get at least partially unlocked from one of the like five concussions he gets during Downloaded [BSG]
A BSG/Star Wars crossover; either the Clone Wars trio (plus Rex and maybe Padme) wind up on a basestar (either during the skipped year or during the first half of S3); the Clone Wars trio has a Mortis-esque experience on Kobol while the first landing party is stranded there; something with the Rebels crew and Sam's people on Caprica...there are others too but those three are generally the most present in my head lol
An Obianidala power/roleswap one-shot that I've been planning for the Year of the OTP meme. [SW]
Shifting Alucard's S3/4 timeline by six weeks (basically what happens in the S3 finale is interrupted/forestalled by Greta's messenger) [Castlevania]
And because five is a nice round number--an Avatar Zuko AU [AtLA]
((my Les Mis ideas i am at least semi-actively working on/have started so they don't count lol. and honestly there's a lot of fun crossovers with either bsg or star wars that float in and out of my head at leisure, and some things that i have been poking at that i don't plan on sharing, and. ...yeah my head gets crowded sometimes lol))
40.  Share some backstory for one of your characters
Going to stick to SW since I think that's the primary fandom you and I share and I will pick........::spins wheel of characters:: Kira!
Okay so Kira is an OC of mine who has hopped worlds like. five times. She started out in AtLA, meandered into one of my original worlds, and also into Star Wars.
Basically, her deal is that she's a seer. In Star Wars, this means she's Force-sensitive, obviously. She's also a bird because birds are cool.
I generally play with her in connection with another OC belonging to a friend of mine who is one of Alex and Zeb's kids; Kira's around her age.
Her people have their own native Force traditions--they call Force-adepts Wise Ones--and not a lot of interaction with the Jedi Order before it fell. Kira is the first Wise One with this level of True Sight in a while. She basically got picked up by an Imperial Remnant officer (or, depending on the timeline, just an Imperial officer) who kept her hidden as his Secret Weapon. Generally in a pretty gilded cage, but still. She either manages to escape on her own or gets found by Alex who's investigating why this particular faction has So Much Intel They Shouldn't. He promptly kidnaps/rescues her and brings her home.
(I also did a fair amount of playing with/building up some details for her species. Primarily seed-eating, although they will eat insects for extra protein as well as vegetables; males tend to have brighter coloring than females; young are generally pretty drab grey-brown, with adult plumage coming in starting around sixteen; some teenagers like to paint their feathers to look older than they are.)
Ask me a question!

Telling him you're pregnant *Buck series*
Tumblr media
*SWAT crossover*
When you found out the only people you told was, obviously Jessica as she's your boss, Alice, Athena, and Chris. Of course the boys in the HQ were suspicious about all the girls whispering to each other, or constantly texting each other but decided that maybe you girls were just gossiping.
Of course it seemed weird that Jessica was always pulling you to the side during cases and the boys felt like she was keeping you out of the action so you knew you had to plan on telling everyone soon.
You don't know how you managed to keep your excitement in check around Buck because you just wanted to tell him but you knew he'd want his firehouse family involved along with his sister.
Thankfully your birthday was coming up, so you invited everyone over for a small party saying it was to celebrate early so you can visit your family on your actual birthday.
With your plan in motion Alice helped you come up with a way to tell Buck and everyone else. Chris managed to keep the surprise hidden at what was once your house as well, thankful you had moved in with Buck months beforehand.
When the day came you had everything set up for a barbecue, you encouraged everyone to bring their families, setting up games and different activities for everyone. Of course you had to dodge the many "You want me to get you a drink?" that were thrown at you.
Chris managed to help you distract everyone, while Alice took the dog you had to beg Buck to let you get inside. "It's time for our annual pitch." You're quick to explain to the members of the firehouse, "I went to college on a baseball scholarship, not softball, coach saw my curve ball and fast pitch, wanted me on the boys team. Every year they try to top my pitch speed. BUT THEY CANT!"
One by one the guys try and go against your pitch speed, including the guys from the firehouse. When it's your turn Hondo makes Jim play catcher, knowing he doesn't know how fast you actually pitch. "Do your worst Y/N." You smirk as you find your grip on the ball before getting into position and winding your arm back letting the ball soar through Chris's backyard before hearing, "Son of a bitch!" You laugh as you watch Jim shake out his hand, the glove falling off. Jessica laughs from her spot with the speed gun.
"She's still got it." The boys groan as you take a drink from the can of soda.
You watch as Alice opens the sliding door with a smile on her face, your dog following her with his brand new bandana on.
You quickly lace your voice with fake worry as the dog gets closer to you and Buck. "Buck what's on his neck?"
He's quick to turn knowing how much you love your dog, and would kill if anything happened to him. When the dog stops in front of him Athena's quick to grab her phone and starts recording knowing exactly what's about to happen as buck unties the bandana to look at it better.
Tumblr media
Buck freezes, rereading the bandana before turning and picking you up spinning you around. "Really?" You nod with a smile on your face, seeing just how happy he actually is about the news.
Everyone looks at the two of you as your feet touch the ground, confused at Bucks sudden outburst. Buck looks at you before looking at his friends and the new people he's grown to think of as friends, "She's pregnant."
You get passed around to all of your friends as they congratulate you and Buck. You finally get to Athena and Bobby, Athena pulling you into a tight hug, Buck figuring out she had something to do with it. "You knew?" "Of course I knew. Nothing happens to this girl that I don't know about."
As the night dies down, everyone packs up left overs before heading out giving you an buck one last congratulations before they leave.
When you get back home you let your dog off his leash, who eagerly runs to play with Bucks cat, as Buck wraps his arms around your waist. "How long did you know?" "Found out a week ago. Told Jess right away to prevent getting put on any calls. I've been getting desk work for the past week while we planned on how to tell everyone. The guys were already asking why I wasn't getting in on the action." Buck can't think of anything to say, the only thought going through his head is how happy he is. Practically reading his mind you say, "I have a doctor's appointment in a couple days. Doc said we'd be able to listen to the heart beat. Didn't want to at the last appointment, was still trying to wrap my head around everything. Already talked to Bobby, he said you can have the time of the appointment off."
When the day of your appointment comes, you drive practically feeling bucks nerves and excitement radiating off of him. The only thing running through his brain is that he doesn't know what to expect.
He holds your hand as you lay on the table staring at the small screen waiting for the image of your baby to show up. You look at his face as he's mesmerized by the tiny bean, only looking at you with unshed tears when the heartbeat echo's through the room.

NINJAMUFFIN DOING ANOTHER AMA ON TWITTER, HERE'S MORE SHIT FOR YA! keep in mind i'm just sharing the funkin related stuff, though i am including WAAAAY more than what i shared before 👍 go check out ninja's twitter profile for questions about stuff like ritz! questions in blue, answers in orange. if yall don't wanna read everything i MIGHT make a version of this post where i replace the answers with my own summaries of em (and if the questions are long, those too)
and here's a link to the ama tweet itself! dunno if it's still goin
Q: I figure the answer will be yes but do you have more plans to implement more guest appearances from people in the newgrounds community into FNF? Or are you all gunna focus on OG lore and stuff going forward
A: for guest appearances, I think we have always seen it as getting a healthy mix of both. PERSONALLY I'd like to lean towards having more OG stuff than guest stuff, BUT it's all a matter of what other boys think of that as well. I'm not the sole person working on game!
Q: Are you gonna release the full FNF game or are you gonna be releasing week after week? Like, are you gonna release week 8 or are we gonna wait some years until The Full Ass Game comes out?
A: Release plan for FNF right now is a few more updates or whatev to the 'demo' we have out right now, and then a long silence of probably no updates whatsoever until the full game is done (which will likely be a few years). That's partly why we made kickstarter for game.
Q: Hey so like, how much will Fnf cost after it's finished? And when will you ask the supporters what they want the game on?
A: It's all subject to change, but right now it prob gonna be standard 15-25$ lil steam indie game.
We will ask Kickstarter pledgers and whatnot what they want the game on SUPER close to when its released, to keep options open if we get onto anything like a console people want.
Q: 1. how was your day
2. are you releasing a week 8 song early like week 7, or are you goin full lockdown
A: I am doing GOOD today, and I think recently I've been good in general.
up to the mood, but so far we doing good about not having anything leak or whatev, so I think it'd be fun to have update come out with people not knowing what to expect at all. Build dat intrigue
Q: Will fnf ever get official plushies?? Seems like an untapped market
A: FNF plushies will prob happen some point, we have a lot of current merch stuff on our plates already though! (Mostly kickstarter type stuff, shirts, pins, posters, and all the physical OST stuff) Its a lot to sort out, but in time more and more stuff will happen. We r jus 4 boys!
Q: did you ever expect your game to blow up as it did? what was your first reaction to seeing it become super popular
A: FNF never had a humble moment, literally day 1 before the prototype even came out, the vid on twitter had like 5K likes overnight. Then when ludum dare version came out, it got 5K likes again, like it wasnt just a fluke. Was crazy, and def felt like somethin was different wit FNF
Q: Do you plan on getting other people to come in to help with the music? That seems like a lot of work to dump on one person, what with the erect mode and whatnot.
I guess the question could apply to all aspects of development. Will you be bringing on more people to help?
A: We definitely are getting help from other people. We are always keeping an eye on people for various different things. In terms of programming, already I've gotten 2 people (MtH and Geokureli) to help with certain Week 7 stuff (charting/polish, and loading stuff). Shit like dat
Q: Oh, also, will the Steam version be Workshop compatible? That'd really help streamline the process of downloading mods.
A: Steam version of FNF will likely NOT be Steam workshop compatible, because we want all the mods to NOT be spread out through different places. There WILL be modding support that is as streamlined as Steam workshop though. Mainly for non-steam versions of the game!
Q: Are there any chances that the game will have a physical release? Also any updates on a switch port? I remember one of you guys talking/joking about it.
A: Not impossible for FNF to get a physical release. We would want to see how far we could go with it though. I think it'd be super easy to do something wit people like LimitedRun games or whatev, but I think stuff like that can only go so far. I wanna see Funkin in mf Walmart!!!!!!
not that LimitedRun isn't going to be an option! Just we consider and pursue many different things! FNF release is years away, so we have time to think about everything. Whole mindset can be different just a few months from now.
Q: Out of curiosity, how are you dealing with all the popularity? It blew up so fast id barely be able to handle it if I was in your shoes.
A: The only way I've been able to handle it is having the other boys on the crew and being able to talk to them about all the overwhelmingness.
Part of it feels very lonesome, feels like NO ONE can come close to comprehending exactly how I'm feeling, except them. also other PALS!!!
Q: Do you own any of the bootleg FNF merchandise? Like any bootleg plushies or anything?
A: i dont, i genuinely think they r a waste of money, and I know any bootleg shit that gets made, we can prob go about and make it, and make it 100x cooler because we actually put effort into shit. bootleg shit just in it for the coin, so they aint gettin that from me
Q: How did you go about getting in contact with sr pelo for skid and pumps vocals?
A: Pelo i think was familiar and pals wit PhantomArcade a bit thru various Newgrounds things and collabs and whatnot.
pelo retweeted the first OG FNF posts first ever, and brought a LOT of attention to it. to pay him back, we put skid and pump in game! ask dave for more info prob
Q: what's the plan for having the full ass game open source if it's gonna cost money? couldn't people just download the source and compile the game for free?
A: when FNF is fully released, the full source code will be released as well.
the game will be DRM free so it will be way easier for people to redistribute the released/offical .exe instead of compiling it, so that's not the issue anyways. people will pay for things if they like it
Q: What are the chances of it getting on consoles like switch or Playstation, ps5 would definitely be my preferred way to play
A: it'd be a matter of hiring someone to build out backend stuff for those specific consoles. someone who knows their way around all the wacky code stuff, AND knows console hardware stuff. Then its just a matter of hittin up those console manufacturers (Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo)
the CLOSEST one is SWITCH. pretty much all of that backend is already made, so it just a matter of gettin all that access and shit.
i think in any case though, there's a lot of NDA stuff required, i dunno how much we'd be able to talk about it even IF we get that stuf sorted
Q: any ideas of releasing it on epic store or another platform?
A: Right now, the only thing that is 100% confirmed and WILL happen is a Steam version, itchio version, and mobile versions on respective app stores. Other storefronts aren't out of the picture though, but we don't want to spread ourselves too thin with it.
Q: Will you continue using HaxeFlixel to make the rest of FNF?
A: yes, because it is what I'm the most technically proficient in, and generally is VERY flexible. just a matter of ME becoming a better coder. It's ALL open source, so if I need something done a certain way, either I can do it, or we can hire someone to do it.
Q: have you seen game theory's videos on your game yet and if so, what do you think about them? (not talking about his predictions because i dont want spoilers. i like mystery)
A: it is always good silly fun to watch the Game Theory vids about Funkin with some pals, and see what matpat thinks of the game. i lov the vids, but wish he used my face less! Or at least used a cuter pic of me like this one!!
Tumblr media
Q: Ok so: What does the future of FNF look like to you?
A: future of FNF is a rhythm game that not only exceeds every expectation that people have of it, but subverts most expectations and conventions as well.
Q: Do you plan on retouching on older weeks once the game is fully out? Like reanimating sprites, redoing some charting, updating the background, etc
A: retouching and probably overhauling certain aspects is almost definitely gonna happen. Everything is fluid and can be changed (and should be changed when necessary). i dont think anything should be too attached to, especially this early on in development
Q: I honestly do not care if the answer to this is vague as hell to keep surprises and shit lol but… Since Week 7 was the closest we’ll get to a playable girlfriend (still bf controlling tho), do you have plans to make girlfriend playable in spin-off things or just freeplay?
A: wouldnt be out of the picture for a playable GF, i don't think we've had some hard thing AGAINST it. just a matter of what we want out of the game, and what sort of story or whatev we could do with that concept
Q: How do BF and GF manage to meet famous newgrounds characters (such as pico, tankman and the others to come) like is this all in one universe/ timeline or are they being brought in?
A: i think they are all just there existing. i think there's a lot of wacky things in other media that try to justify crossovers, like MULTIVERSE bullshit or TIMELINE shit, but i dunno, its like subspace emissary. Captain Falcon and Olimar from Pikmin just hang out. Shit like dat
disclaimer that all lore shit is in phantomarcade head pretty much and maybe there is wacky dimensions or somethin
Q: Will the game have dlc?
A: its not too unlikely that we'd have expansions of some sort, but i mean right now we plan on packing in as much as we can into base game, and trying to make that as pure as possible.
if there is ANY dlc, i would personally want it to be 100% free updates
Q: How did you meet Phantom Arcade, Kawai Sprite, and EvilSker? And what do you think about the community and its controversies?
A: me and phantomarcade been fukin around NG for years so years and years ago we naturally crossed paths and became pals
about 2 years ago i found kawaisprites music on NG, and started talkin wit him, made Ritz wit him and we fell in lov
and evilsk8r i met cuz of FNF!!!
quik elaborate on evilsk8r, wanted artist for gamejam FNF was for (ludum dare), and OG person i asked wasnt available, so he referred me to evilsk8r, who I have never met or talked to before ever.

Fic Writer Tag Game
Tagged by @slytherkins 😘
AO3 Name: RisingPhoenix761
Fandoms: currently Supernatural with occasional Walking Dead and Boondock Saints. Formerly Phantom of the Opera.
Fic you spent the most time on: uggggggGGGGGHHHHHHH I've been working on Warrior Shepherds for about five years now and only recently realized everything that was pushing me to write it has fizzled its way out of my system. Which is a good thing, because I started writing during a crisis, but not so good as far as the fic is concerned. I'll finish it one day, though. The ending still pokes at me to remind me it still needs written.
Fic you spent the least amount of time on: that's got to be Two Saints and an Archer. I've spent maybe a full hour on it. I also just reread it for the first time in awhile, and it's still kinda hilarious.
Longest fic: sticking with AO3 stats because fuck ff.net the big winner is A Dangerous Game with nearly 26k so far. I need to add more words to that one...
Shortest fic: with a whopping 558, here's Rushing, Racing, Running. Also the runner-up for least time spent on a fic, and I vividly remember the evening I wrote it.
Most hits: Talk Like That with 2,255. Given the pairing, rating, and tags, I'm not surprised.
Most kudos: once again, A Dangerous Game. This sparks joy! It's also the only thing so far to get 100+ kudos. Two Bethyl fics are very close but aren't there yet. Yay for Crowley smut!
Most comment threads: just guess. You'll never guess. Guessed yet? It's A Dangerous Game.
Fave fic you wrote: if you've seen this question on my dash before, you know the answer is St. Fergus. It's Crowley, of course, and the only way I can make peace with how season 12 ended is that this wouldn't work otherwise. (But I'm still gonna die mad about it.) Wrote it for the Crowley Reverse Bang, and for the first few weeks I couldn't make ANY headway at all. But when it took off, IT. TOOK. OFF. It was one of those where my muse knew what was going on better than I did and all I had to do was keep up. I thought deep thoughts, flexed my banter muscles, pondered the state of being human, and nothing I've written so far gives me as many happy feels as the ending to this one. THIS SPARKS JOY! Like, SO MUCH JOY! I'm proud of the finished product, I'm beyond grateful for the love its gotten, and I want to gush about it until I have no words to gush with, and I'll figure out how to keep going even then.
Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: St. Fergus comes to mind. I have a million and one human!Crowley ideas, and @slytherkins and I have a collab in the works. Other than that, I've started sequels to Take Care Of It and Can't Tell Her No and my poor little heart will be so happy to finally finish them.
Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning: I still have my heart set on a Supernatural/Boondock Saints crossover that doesn't look like I'll ever get around to. The next chapter of ADG keeps staring at me. I've got challenge and bang fics tapping their watches in my direction. But here, have a snippet of the Crowley-Cas-Rowena body swap disaster that I still have no idea what to do with:
Lightning flashed skyward and the air pulsed with a tremendous release of power, knocking her off her feet along with Fergus and Castiel. A rushing, roaring sound filled her ears and there was a prickling across her skin like electricity, then stillness.
She waited for her head to stop spinning, then slowly got to her feet, groaning aloud and hearing the others echo it. She moved her hands to dust herself off, then paused.
Those weren't her hands. Larger, much more tanned than she had ever been in her life, attached to strong arms in the sleeves of an old trenchcoat. She looked down at the rest of her body, only it wasn't hers any more than the hands were. Crooked blue tie, white button-down, dark slacks…
She heaved a sigh, her voice coming out much deeper, without a trace of her native accent. “Bollocks.”
You. Yes, you, reading this thing. Tag, you're it.

This is part of an ongoing series of vignettes where Mac is crashing in Loft 4D. This collection of stories is going to eventually be a part of a larger series of crossovers where characters from different fandoms crash at the loft for a short time. (Nick calls them "crashers.") These stories take place right after the Sandbox for MacGyver, and a few months before Jess moves in for New Girl. :)

"So," said Coach.
"So..." agreed Mac.
It had been decided by the other two that it was going to be Coach's job to "take care of" Mac while he was there. Nick and Schmidt claimed no responsibility whatsoever for showing him to his room, putting themselves into any avoidable awkward conversations, giving him a tour of the loft, or - and Nick was very insistent about this - letting him know where the towels and washcloths lived. "It's just not right," he'd insisted, "a strange man using another man's towels. I want no part in it. It's an abomination." Coach had known there was no use in arguing the point, but he had anyway, and it had gotten him absolutely nowhere.
So now here he was, standing in their extra bedroom with a tiny little white dude he didn't know at all at the request of a scary family friend who he barely knew. At least he could take a little comfort in the fact that Mac seemed just as awkward as Coach himself did.
"Okay so-"
"Look man-"
They both started talking at the exact same time. Mac ducked his head and grinned and motioned for Coach to go first.
"I was just going to apologize for Nick. He can be…"
"Loud?" Mac supplied when Coach hesitated.
"And he has no filter. Obviously."
Mac laughed, and it sounded genuine. Coach found himself thinking that maybe this kid might not be too much of a hassle to have around after all. He seemed pretty easy going, especially for someone who'd just gotten out of the army. But still, there was something in his eyes, a flicker of something he'd seen in his dad's eyes a couple of times as a kid… He pushed that aside as Mac rebutted, "I spend most of my time with Jack, remember? You look up 'loud' and 'no filter' in the dictionary, and you'll find a picture of Jack!"
Sniggering, Coach agreed, "I don't know him that well, but I do think I remember that about him from when he and my dad cooked out every other weekend back in Texas. I think that's what Dad likes about him. He speaks his mind."
"Sometimes too much," Mac agreed. Coach noticed with relief that picking on Jack and Nick had lessened the tension in the room considerably.
"Hey, uh, Coach?" Mac asked, his voice turning serious. "Speaking of Jack, I just wanted to thank you for what you're doing. He had no right to ask you to let me stay with you; he did it without me even knowing about it. I tried to back out when he told me, but he insisted that you all were looking for someone to help pay rent while your normal roommate is in Latvia."
"Yeah, you'd like Winston," said Coach, then made a face and retracted, "Eeeh, maybe not. Not a lot of people like Winston. He's an acquired taste."
"I'm sure he's great."
More awkward silence.
"Well," said Coach. "I should go, 'cuz this is getting awkward as hell and I've got a training session with a hot client." His eyes glazed over momentarily. "Vanessa."
Mac cleared his throat. Coach shook himself out of his reverie before backing slowly toward the door. "On that note, I'ma bounce now…"
Mac watched him go, amusement and uncertainty warring for dominance in his mind. They seemed nice enough… if a bit - a lot - weird, but still. Mac knew that nightmares were no respecter of people or places; they would come wherever he was, and they were usually much worse after moving to a new place. He sure hoped this job Jack had picked up on was worth it, because Mac had the nasty feeling that he'd wear out his welcome (whatever welcome he had, that is) very quickly once the nightmares started up again.
He sighed and started to unpack his things.
"One more thing!" Mac jolted in surprise, spinning around and grabbing the closest thing to his right hand to use as a weapon - an alarm clock. Coach's eyes widened, his hands held up in surrender. "Sorry, sorry, dude. Didn't mean to startle you there." His eyes held a softness that Mac hadn't expected as he regarded the younger man. "You okay?"
Mac felt the embarrassment wash down his body like an icy rain. He felt his face burn and set the alarm clock gently on the side table. "Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry. I just-"
"Hey, say no more, man," Coach cut in. "Army brat, remember? This ain't my first rodeo." Despite Coach sounding nothing like Jack in the slightest, his words reminded Mac of exactly something his best friend would say and he gave a half smile.
"Thanks." Coach stood in the doorway, and awkward was still the word of the hour.
"Uhh… did you need something?"
"Oh, right. I forgot I was supposed to remind you of the loft rules. Don't touch the fancy shampoo in the shower, the half a pastrami sandwich in the fridge is off-limits, even if it is a week old, make sure you buy your own towels because sharing towels with a stranger is an abomination, apparently."
Mac nodded slowly. "...Noted."
"The first rule is Schmidt's," Coach clarified, fingers tapping nervously on the doorframe. He wasn't good at this hosting stuff, especially when everything was so.. Awkward. "And the last is Nick's. The second is mine."
"Good to know. I'll make sure to follow them."
Coach grinned. "Right. The pastrami sandwich is mine," he clarified once more. "And I'm really looking forward to it when I get home."
Furrowing his brow, Mac assured the taller man, "I promise, I have no intention of eating your week-old pastrami sandwich. Scout's honor."
Of course he'd be a boy scout, Coach thought. "Thanks, little man!" Coach threw over his shoulder as he turned to leave once more. "Welcome to the Loft!"
Running a hand through his hair, Mac half-grinned and spoke to the empty room. "Thanks." Recalling his roller coaster of an adventure just since breaching the doorway, he added a wry, "I think."

I've been getting shitty fuel economy, so I tried driving 55 mph everywhere. via /r/cars
I've been getting shitty fuel economy, so I tried driving 55 mph everywhere.
So last year, I bought a Ford Focus ST. Great car, I love it, but the fuel economy kind of sucks. I was coming from a 2016 Malibu, and was aware the extra horsepower and premium fuel requirement would mean I'd be spending more on gas. All in all, I figured the difference between the vehicles would amount to maybe ten bucks a week. A relatively small price to have my (attainable) dream car. After six months of ownership, I can safely say my calculations were off. Waaay off.
Due to my mostly highway commute, I anticipated getting somewhere in the mid to upper twenty mile per gallon range. Nope. First month, I achieved just over twenty-one. That led me to spend the subsequent month granny shifting and coasting as much as possible. After two weeks of blue-balling my car with this tactic, I calculated my fuel economy improved by a mere three additional miles per gallon. At that point, I was spending roughly $75 more on gas each month than I with my Malibu. I did the math; that is enough to buy approximately seventy-five $1 scratch-off tickets.
In analyzing my driving habits, I came to the conclusion that it was actually my time on the highway that was killing average mpg. Apparently the Focus ST has a relatively short sixth gear. I typically drive about ninety or so on the highway (unless I'm passing someone), which means my engine is spinning at around 3500-4000 rpm. I don't know much about the EPA, other than the fact that rearranging their letters spells out "AEP," but I imagine their fuel consumption findings are achieved at somewhat lower speeds.
And so it was that I adopted a radical new approach to extending each tank of premium unleaded: I would simply drive fifty-five miles per hour. I would achieve that velocity only as quickly as was necessary. But once there, I would keep my speed constant, no matter how many people I pissed off.
I lasted just one day. Here's how it went.
The first part of my commute is a state highway, which I live directly beside. Conveniently enough, its speed limit is fifty-five. At that rate, I was doing about five to ten miles per hour under what most of my fellow rush hour commuters wanted to travel. Occasionally, I caught a glimpse of an exasperated driver in my rearview mirror, but my self-imposed speed was generally met with acceptance.
An interstate highway makes up the next - and largest - bit of my commute. For most of the way, it is sixty-five miles per hour. Obviously, nearly everyone travels much faster. Usually around eighty. Never is this more apparent than when one sits in the center lane while going ten under the limit, as I did. Most of the cars on that stretch of highway belong to state workers. During the high volume drive times is when they are at their most aggressive. Even more so than during holiday sales, karaoke tournaments, or when standing in the express line at Shop-Rite and the person in front of them is two items over the limit. Needless to say, instances of extended middle fingers zooming past me in late-model crossovers were a common sight. Still, I persisted.
Just before arriving to work, I drive along a wide avenue within the city limits. It has a thirty mile per hour limit and consists of two lanes of travel in either direction, with the occasional right or left turning lanes, used for negotiating intersections or entrances to shopping plazas. Rush hour traffic being what it is, people on this stretch typically move at or slightly below the speed limit. As the turning lanes are generally less congested, I decided they were my best chance of reaching fifty-five miles per hour. Not going to lie, this pissed off a lot of folks. Especially those coming in the opposite direction. You see, there were times when the only open passing lane was on the opposite side of the avenue. As a result, I was left with no choice but to cross the median and hold faith that my aftermarket high beams and their four thousand lumens would give oncoming traffic ample warning to remove themselves from my path. I definitely got the stink eye from more than a few motorists, but I expected as much when I set out on this journey. At least I didn't have to mount a sidewalk in order to maintain speed.
After work, I like to unwind with one or two pitchers of beer before heading home. More often than not, the aforementioned bar stop provides me with the strength I need to go home and listen to my wife complain about her day. Her typical grievances run the gamut from holiday sales to karaoke tournaments to standing in the express line at Shop-Rite and the person in front of them is two items over the limit. On the day of my experiment, however, I needed that strength to face the other woman in my life: my grandmother. It is important that I maintain a positive relationship with the old girl. Apparently, my mother died while my grandmother was giving birth do her, which left me as her last living relative. That alone should have cemented my inheritance into cement. Still, if I don't put in regular appearances at the swanky golf cart community she now calls home, she'll start talking about how all her money and jewels will go to the Committee to Re-elect Walter Mondale after she passes. I don't have the heart to tell her that Mondale isn't on the ticket this year. In fact, he was never elected in the first place. Also, he's dead.
To get to get to the golf cart community where my grandmother resides, I not only have to contend with the wide avenue mentioned in the previous section, but a school zone as well. The speed limit there is fifteen, and people generally observe it quite closely for some reason. As such, I was forced to mount a sidewalk near the school so as to maintain a steady fifty-five miles per hour. Fortunately, at the time I was passing through, the bulk of the student body had already left the school grounds. Only a few remained, most likely those having just completed detention or chess club. Despite being a pudgy, flat-footed lot - seemingly more interested in their phones than with pedestrian safety - they proved quite adept at diving for the cover as I sped down the sidewalk towards them. Perhaps there is hope for millennials after all?
After arriving at the golf cart community was where the most challenging part of my experiment took place. The only way to navigate it was by using various paved cart paths which snaked from building to building. These paths were rather narrow, as if designed so that only small, golf cart sized vehicles could fit. Making matters worse, the paths had numerous sudden and sharp turns semenly better suited for speeds much lower than my fifty-five. Because of this, I ended up taking a turn a little too wide. That was right about where my experiment concluded. It turns out, the Pirelli P Zero Nero all-season tires on my Focus ST are not suitable for driving on landscaped surfaces. As a result, I was unable to avoid missing that pool. On a side note, Ford did not make the Focus ST seaworthy. Also, the so-called "no-fault" insurance in my state apparently doesn't apply to criminal trespassing and reckless endangerment. That point would prove to be moot, however, as I am currently uninsured (can't afford it with the fuel economy I'm getting lol).
At the end of the day, I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. When I set out on my quest to maximize fuel economy, I knew it would ruffle a few feathers. I also ended up broke, sopping wet, and arrested. But that's always been the case with pioneers. I never heard Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or Steve Shubin complain, and neither will I. But even though I no longer have a drivers license and my Focus ST had "flood damage" reported to Carfax, I can say it felt really good to saving the environment, with the added bonus of taking a bite out of Big Oil in the process. Thanks for reading.
