William realizes he has more in common with Otto than he thought.

They found Otto crumpled in a heap on the cobbles of the Street of Cunning Artificers. The frames of his dark glasses lay scattered among a mess of his equipment, all stomped out of shape. He groaned when Sacharissa knelt down and turned him over.

"His skin is ice cold! That's bad, isn't it? Is he dying?"

"Er, I think he's always like that, Sacharissa."

"Oh. Right." 

Otto was struggling to sit up.

"What happened? Are you alright?" She knew it was a silly question.

"Some men," Otto mumbled, "five or six... I could have dealt with zhem if my hands vere not so full... and if zhey had not brought so much... garlic..." He reached up gently to touch his neck, and that was when William noticed the band of suspiciously garlic bulb-sized welts.

"Oh, Otto..." Sacharissa breathed.

"I vill be fine," Otto declared as the pair helped him shakily to his feet. He forced a befanged smile, but it was more of a grimace. "No vorries!"

Supporting his weight, the three began their trudge back toward Gleam Street.

"But this is a violent crime! We should report it to the Watch!" said Sacharissa.

"And write a story," suggested William.

"Zhere is no story," Otto sighed. "It is not ze first time. Or second. Or third. And it vill not be ze last. It is not news. Just olds."

An uncomfortable silence descended. Dog bites man, William recalled. Man attacks vampire.

"Do you know vhat ze vorst part of it is?" Otto added quietly.

"What?" asked Sacharissa, her throat drying up.

"Otto—"

Otto struggled to get out his next words. "Ze vorst part is vhen I feel ze... urges rising up inside... vhen I have to sing my songs just to keep from givink in... all I can zhink is... zhose men are right."

"I am a monster!" he snapped. "I am dangerous! Zhat is simply ze truth! Oh, sometimes being on ze vagon is so hard, so hard...." He buried his face in his hands.

"Then why do it?" William heard himself ask.

"William!" Sacharissa hissed.

Otto looked up in surprise. "Vhat do you mean?"

There was no stopping him now. "Why not be a blo— a B-word-sucking creature of the night, if that's your nature? Why not be true to yourself? All this effort to deny who you are, and what for?" It was a question that had been weighing on William's mind for quite a while.

Sure, joining the Temperance League was pretty much the only way a vampire could simmer acceptably in the Ankh-Morpork melting pot, but William failed to see what they got out of it. Back in Uberwald— at least it was said, his internal editor added— the most powerful vampires lived in castles with twisted black spires and lorded over villages of terrified peasants who sacrificed their crops, or their firstborns, or a steady supply of virgins, or whatever. He made a mental note to send a clacks inquiry to the office of Lady Margolotta later to do some fact-checking.

Otto looked hurt. "A vampire is vhat I am, not who I am," he said, as if William was stupid for missing something so obvious.

"The difference being?"

"Who am I? I am an iconographer. Capturing ze light and shadows, zhat is my craft, my purpose! It is everyzhing! It is vhy I came to Ankh-Morpork in ze first place, yes? Ze people back in Schüschein zhink I am stealink zheir souls vith my cursed magic box."

“I suppose that—”

“Who are you, Villiam? I ask you zhis. Do you say, 'I am ze son of Lord de Vorde'?"

"No! I—"

"But it is just how you vere born, no? You cannot deny it?"

William felt the cobbles beneath him turn to quicksand. Otto was giving him the phosphorescent stare that only a vampire could give. "Well, yes, but—"

"So you understand."

For once, William de Worde was at a loss for words. He settled on tensing his jaw resentfully instead. 

Sacharissa, feeling out of place in all this, politely cleared her throat. “Perhaps we should be getting back now,” she said lamely.

For the rest of the journey, William stewed on the comments from the vampire leaning on his shoulder. The mere thought of his own father was making his skin crawl more than usual. Perhaps I really have been stupid, he reflected. What you are and who you are… they’re both true, aren’t they? But perhaps, for just a moment, the Truth can leave its boots off and relax.

I just watched the will scene translated in Spanish (both Latin American and Spain's version) for the first time to see what they did to translate it and, to be fair, I usually don't like to watch shows in a language that isn't the one I got used to (English, in this case) and the voices kind of take me aback a little but I pushed through it and came with the conclusion that there's an important phrasing that none of them respected: After Buck starts interrupting Eddie every time he mentions his own death, he starts playing around the term, not saying it directly, like "if I didn't make it", until he has to repeat the "it's in my will if I die" just to emphasize it and then they play around the phrasing again with the "if it came to that"

The Spanish version doesn't mention a will when he repeats himself (which I think is important because that phrase is meant to be as straight forward as it can) although it does a better job on dancing around the death implications better than the latin american one (idk how to explain it but that version sounds silly, like a comedy, probably it's a me thing tho)

Let me write this down bc I don't think people notice this enough so let's analyze it part by part:

(Fair warning: This is under MY opinion, idk shit about any of the translation process, I'm just bilingual, and it's ok to disagree with me but bare with me)

"You might have noticed that I almost died... again" doesn't change.

"I got a lot of close calls, this one wasn't even my closest one" changes a little but only because of slang, the spirit is the same (and +1 points to the Spanish version this part for making it feel more like friends taking instead of actors talking, although they have the advantage of having to translate to only one county with the same slang but idc)

Up until now most of the changes that are made are because of slang, they change the words I would use but not the actual meaning so it's fine but then:

"It got me thinking: What would happen to Christopher if I hadn't" is what Eddie says because he knows Buck doesn't want to think about his death, that they are not prepared to be so harsh about it, and the Spanish version does say it like that (+1 points for Spain); the Latin American version (as well as the Brazilian one, I think), however, translated it as "if I hadn't survived"

Then, when Eddie says "So, some day, if I didn't make it" the two (or three, I can't find the Brazilian one but the subtitles put it that way too) versions translated it as "I didn't survive" again

Now, the part of "Christopher would be taken care of... By you" is driving me insane because the Latin American version translated it as "Christopher would be under guardianship... Your guardianship" (which I might like even more than the original a little bit if I'm being honest, +1 points for LATAM), the Brazilian one (again, subtitles only, idk about the actual voices) can't be translated back to English without losing the suspense because it would be "Christopher would be your responsibility" but in the "yours" is grammatically placed at the end so that's like a cheat that keeps it like the original and then we have the Spanish one (and jfk what tf did they do there) that decided to go with "So someone takes care of Christopher. That would be you" idk what it is but I really hate it, it doesn't feel like he is leaving the blank or just adding a word to change the meaning completely, is a total addon and I just hate it

"It's in my will if I die you become Christopher's legal guardian" stays the same in Latin American and the Spanish one says "If I die you are Christopher's legal guardian" and I feel like, if you need to cut some parts because the dialog doesn't fit or whatever it is, I would have taken away the "if I die" part instead of the mention of the will because, if you are following someone's will then it's kind of obvious that they died, there's no need to clarify he died idk idc (and up until now they were winning but +1 to LATAM here)

"And how does that even work? Don't you need my consent?" stays almost the same but I'm petty and I like that the Spanish version kept the word 'consent' and Buck doesn't finish the first question, interrupting himself with the second one, while Latin America went with 'approval' (+1 points for Spain)

"My attorney said you could refuse" stays the same in both and then "But you know I wouldn't" "I know you wouldn't" changes because Latin America decided to change Eddie's part to "yes, I know" and I dislike it for two reasons: the original feels like a deeper knowing of each other, like he knows him so well that he even knows what he is about to say and he repeats it even while Buck hadn't finishing saying it, it feels more pure for me; this might be the dumbest reasoning I will ever use but it reminds me to a generic response on an Adam Sandler movie that uses childish comedy that takes me off the loop with the seriousness of the situation (is it dumb to give Spain points for that? Maybe, but I'll do it anyway)

"After Shanon left they all tried to get me to give Christopher to them" also changed, Latin America added a little bit of spice by saying "they tried to blackmail/extort me" (and God damnit I love that +1 for LATAM) but Spain went with "After Shannon died they wanted me to give them Christopher" like if they only started then, when in reality the worst part of this problem started when Eddie left El Paso so it just feels wrong to put it like that, like forgetting the whole 'dragging Christopher down with him' and that just won't do. (The Brazilian version is a true neutral that says "After Shannon everyone wanted Christopher with them")

"It's not what I wanted then, it's not what I want now", luckily, stays the same (minus slang, but there's a reason why there are two versions to begin with, the translation stays the same anyway)

"If it came to that... Wouldn't they fight for him?" Doesn't change.

"I don't know. Maybe. Probably" only feels different because of the voice actor, I really love Ryan's voice and it's hard to listen to the voices that are higher pitched than his so this part doesn't sound the same even tho it is.

"But no one would ever fight for my son as hard as you. That is what I want for him" doesn't change much either.

"You said you did this last year, why are you just telling me now?" ends up failing in both translations because of the 'just' alone although the Spanish one is quite a mess tbh because it goes "Why did you tell me that you did it, why are you telling me now" (I literally have no comments apart from wtf and why) while the Latin American has "And if you did it last year, why are you telling me now?" which is good at the beginning but I feel like the just really adds a weight to it that I would have loved there (but, tbf, this is a +1 points for LATAM moment)

"Because, Evan, you came in here the other day and you said you thought that it would have been better that it would have been you who got shot. You act like you are expendable... But you are wrong" is ALMOST the same except for the ending that has me without words because while it's the same I think the Latin American version changed things (Brazil also kept it like the original), yet again, to add a little bit more spice because, at the end, instead of pointing out that he thinks wrong, they went with "but you are not". Does it mean the same, at the end? Maybe, but it feels more like a reassurance than a correction, like a reminder that he is not expendable instead of wanting to let him know that he is thinking less of himself IDK (Argue with the wall here, +1 points for LATAM)

I swear I shouldn't get so passionate about this but I think it's really important and having two different versions of Spanish translations has always been a funny war between Spain and Latin America so I'm really used to comparing versions

(So with a sweet 5 against 4 points, LATAM wins this one; Brazil not participating only bc I couldn't find the audio and the subtitles are often different, the only reason why I added it was to emphasize things)

Nobody cares about the Muppets humans and that is fair, so today i'm gonna step in and share my top ten Muppets human characters ranking, from best to not B best bc i'm bored (also i didnt watch muppets take manthatam so if theres a memorable human there let me know)

1. Tim curry pirate is one of my favorite muppets villains, he's funny, he's entertaining and his song is silly

2. Mary

I don't even need to explain, she's Mary

5. Lady Hollyday

All she does is sit around and eat up, don't need to elaborate

4. Nadya

She's a girlboss idc

5. Dominic

I normally count him as a duo whit Constantine, but he's entertaining and i like how he reveals against him for a partion of the movie

6. Jean Pierre

Not much to say but same as deal as Dominic, a duo whit Sam the Eagle and really entertaining

7. Max and Moog

Placing them together because they are more of an honorable mention before i go down the characters i don't like or don't stand out that much to me.

They are both funny and silly and nice additions to their respectives show/movie

8. Nora

I'm gonna get a ton of hate for this one, but she's a character that develops under time (just like her sister and Moog) since is a show and i get that, but in the first 4 episodes she's gets too much moments where she's kinda egocentric, she lies about her job that causes Janice to gets sick, refuses to talk over her sister, blames stuffs on other people, etc (also not her characters fault but she gets so much screentime sometimes, even thought the show is called muppets mayhem).

Over time and in the last 3 episodes of she show she gets better and she's a tolerable character. Don't get me wrong, i don't hate her, just saying she's still a character in development and over all a nice character

9. Doc Hopper

He's an insane sales man that wanted to exterminate Kermit and his friends, pulled a gun at him, called a mercenary, got a whole armed gang, and a Russian stereotype scientists just because Kermit didnt want to dance on his commercial; trully a madman. Not much to say outside of that thought and the follow that car joke

10. Richman (can't add an image sorry)

Only memorable thing abt him to me is his song and how deadly pushed him out a building.

11. LADY HOLLYDAYS BROTHER

I HATE HIM, I'M GLAD HE GOT HIS ASS BEATED, AND SHOULD HAVE NOT MADE PIGGY APOLOGIZE

This is very hard for me because I fully believe most hockey players cannot read. There is reason the Sidney Crosby School for Hockey Players Who Can’t Read Good is a thing that I believe with my whole heart that exists. You said dealers choice on the pairing so I hope you’re ready for an entire au and many, many pairings. Remember, you asked for this.

Anyway small independent bookshop owners Sid and Geno. They’re gay and married and semi-successful and it’s cute.

Kris is the bitchy barista who barged into their store one day and bullied them into adding a cafe and then took over running it.

He’s got some sort of situationship going with his longtime regular, Tristan, who has never picked up a book in all the time he’s been coming there. He is there every day for his caffeine fix and to do suduko or something else juuuuust close enough to be book adjacent but isn’t reading. I’m not sure there’s enough thoughts in Mouse Boy’s head to read a whole book. At least that’s what he wants us to think and I’m gonna give it to him.

Jake and Bryan (Rusty) are two kids Sid hired from the local college that basically never left after graduating and are still here.

Flower runs the bakery down the street and makes sure Sid has pastries for Kris to sell. He has tried and failed to lure Kris away to do coffee for the bakery. (Flower also used to work at the bookstore but left to go pursue his dream of the bakery and they love and support him but Kris isn’t leaving).

Marcus and Ricky are two Swedish dads that come in for kids storytime and let their kids play around.

They’ve started bringing new Swede-in-town Erik and his daughter with them.

Chad doesn’t work for the bookstore but will occasionally stop by kid in tow for Sid’s storytime.

Ryan Graves just got hired to run the late night shift so they can be open later. (Yes this is a graveyard shift pun)

Magnus is the delivery man who drops off and helps unload book shipments.

(This is a very crowded small bookstore)

Ned is there regularly for book club with EK, Reilly (who is new in town) and Jason (Zucker) (an old regular), along with old not quite married couple Carl and Patric (Hags&Horny).

(All people I believe can read, unlike Jarry)

Jared and Brandon are around somewhere. Probably. (Look I love them).

Zach and Conor and Teddy used to work in the store while in college but unlike Jake and Bryan they left after graduation. Some of them are still around town but some of them have moved away.

That leaves, basically everyone you just said “hey you forgot X” aka Lars Eller and the kids/wbs. If you were wondering why I didn’t mention them, that’s because this fic is about them. Well actually it’s about DOC and POJ because my brain decided that’s the pairing. Don’t ask me why. Big Z is right there with the rest of his harem but no we’re doing PO and Drew (probably because of that silly tortilla video). Anyway all the boys are college students at the local college. Drew is in a study group with Radim, Valterri, Jansen, Vinnie, Sam (Poulin), and Ty (Smith). They’re all taking Professor Eller’s class and they meet up once or twice a week in the bookstore to drink coffee and go over the homework.

Where is PO you ask? Well he’s behind the counter working under Kris as the backup barista. Don’t worry, this romance isn’t going to be customer/barista. No, no. The reason they started meeting here is because Drew works at the bookstore. He’s been there for about a semester (and the summer) but hasn’t really spent much time in the cafe part. It’s not until Big Z talks Drew into running study sessions in the cafe that they start noticing each other.

See PO took Professor Eller’s class last year, so one day, after watching the boys struggle for with the homework for way too long, he pops out from behind the counter and sits down and helps them out. He’s welcome at the study sessions and sometimes when he’s not on shift he’ll bring his school work and while they’re majoring in different things it’s nice to bounce ideas off them.

If you want to know what they’re majoring in, actual real life DOC majored in sociology while playing for Dartmouth. PO has not been to college but he did tell Taylor that if he wasn’t gonna be an athlete he wanted to be a vet or a psychologist so I’m going with he wants to be a Vet Tech and is majoring in whatever is the veterinary sciences equivalent of premed is.

Anyway they hang out at work more and more. This goes on for like a month and then Geno comes up with a big idea for a fall event. They’re doing a Halloween party. Jake and Bryan and Drew and PO have to help decorate the store and on the day of it’s filled with college students, kids, and regulars. Drew is trying desperately to avoid getting his cheek pinched by the old ladies from the knitting circle again. PO is safe because he’s behind the cafe counter serving drinks. PO has fake vampire fangs as his costume. Drew showed up in a not-couples costume with Big Z. If you wanna know what everyone else wore, please see this photo. Except I’m pretty sure Kris is either a prey mantis or the letits are out whichever option makes you, dear reader, feel more insane.

Eventually Sid and Geno shooo all their employees to go mingle and have fun. Drew and PO end up in the makeshift dance floor, music blaring, and after a couple jokes and a some negging from their friends, PO gives Drew a half twirl or something and they laugh it off before the song is even over.

It’s not until later when they’re cleaning up, all alone, music still going in the background, that they start joking about it and one thing leads to another and they actually dance. PO gives drew the full twirl. They bust a move. They slow dance a bit. They’ve never been this close. They’ve only casually touched and now they’re pressed up against each other. They’ve been hanging out at the bookstore outside of study group and Ohohoho what’s this? A feelings realization. Except wait. They’re both idiot college students. So they both awkwardly disengage to go do their job and part ways.

In the following days things are so completely awkward between them at work that Kris throws PO out of the cafe and won’t let him back until he can look Drew in the eye. Drew meanwhile cancels study session because he doesn’t know how to be normal around PO. Don’t worry they can’t continue like that for long. You see there’s a big test coming up and Z ropes PO into helping Drew out cause it’s like 40% of their final grade and Drew has been failing the at-home practice tests something terrible.

They end up staying way later than the rest of the study group going over this exam. Its way late at night, only Ryan is there to lock up behind them, and PO has just spent 4 hours explaining the test back to front - forgetting his awkwardness in the face of his determination to make sure Drew doesn’t fail. Drew definitely stares at PO explaining for a little too long, decides fuck it and goes in for a kiss. These are idiot college boys so instead they bump noses or headbutt each other or something. Poor boys. Can’t even do a surprise kiss correctly. Drew apologizes and then they do have the confession conversation and then the actual kiss. And more kisses. After that, more studying.

I was gonna make this yesterday but decided against it for some reason?? Whatever, here I am again, ranting about about a silly little game, with my silly little brain 😍

The game I'm talking about is Killer frequency and MY GOD is it absolutely AMAZING!! The game is such a good mix between horror all while adding some assets of mystery and humor, and sometimes even just chilling because MAN, Is putting on a Record and sitting there talking to Peggy somewhat relaxing! Its such a good game with such a great concept that just keeps you wanting more of it, and oh boy do I want more! ( Little side note, I LOVE how the game can be scary without much jumpscares, since it has scary parts in other ways! )

For those who don't know, Killer frequency is a game where you play as a late night radio host / talker ( Idfk what there called?? 😭 ) named Foresst Nash ( I'll talk abt him later ❤ ) who is forced to take on the role of a 911 operator after an unexpected return of the " Whistling man " occurs. Just throughout the night you save people and solve mysteries and do other stuff all while trying to stop this killer. Isn't that such an interesting concept? Because oh boy do I think it's interesting!

AND THE CHARACTERS OH MY GOD, I LOVE THEM SM! I know some of them are side characters we never see again but I don't care, there all amazing and I love them! ESPECIALLY FORESST BRO- He by far my favorite ( very original aren't I? ) because I just love how he acts throughout this entire thing, he's calm but gets the job done. NOT TO MENTION HE IS SO BABY GIRL CODED 😍😍 / Hj...Moving on, I also love Peggy! She's an energetic person, yet so laid back as well! Plus, I love how she helps us so much even if she can't exit her area! She's honestly enjoyable so I'm so glad we have two enjoyable main character like characters ( Well, Foresst is the main character.. WHATEVER IDC )

Honsetly the game is amazing so if you can watch like one gameplay of it! There should be a no commentary version, but if not, you can just watch some random youtuber play it! It's an amazing game, and if you can play it, even better!

So uh yea..I'm obsessed 💀 Definitely drawing some of the characters soon though, I love this game sm not to!

so my brother's been visiting for a couple weeks, and normally we (me, my brother, and sister) watch or rewatch a bunch of shit while he's here,,,, so last night we were doing that but my sister wanted to go to bed after a couple movies, but me and my brother wanted to stay up and still watch something still,,,, so we wanted to pick something our sister wouldn't care if we watched without her,,,, so we decided on C.astlevania,,,,, my brother didn't wanna watch any eps from the third season, i said "we have to watch episodes from the fourth season because V.arney is in it" im pretty sure he just thinks I like V.arney as a character he doesn't know how i ship with him tho I'm not good at hiding my affections, so he probably knows it's more then platonic love of a character *rip*,,,, but my sister who does know that I ship with V.arney or at least know vaguely that i do, from down the hall overheard my suggestion, and was like "I heard he stinks, you can't watch that" (she wasn't being mean she was doing a bit, since we will roast characters eachother like for sillies,,, tho he canonically does smell bad lol)

when i was pulling up the episodes my brother started laughing cause he realized the timestamps are all at random points of each of the episodes,,, and he was like "You have them all stopped in the middle of the episodes, on the V.arneys scenes don't you?" and I just laughed and agreed cause he was spot on 😂 I told him "earlier I mentioned how I had "''episodes recorded"'' I really just meant the V.arney scenes" idk what he was thinking when I said that cause he just laughed and was like "Oh my gosh" 💀 Anyways,,, when V.arney first shows up I'm like "There he is! my boy!" and the next scene when they show him my brother immediately was like "There's your boy" 🥰 and then later on when G.ermain (one of my brothers faves in the show) is going through it, I made a joke saying "Your boys looking rough" he just responds saying "It's your boys fault" 😂 calling V.arney just "my boy" feels very much so like an understatement,,,, since he is in fact my husband, not just "my boy" that sounds more casual,,,,Idc if my brother knows I ship with V.arney,,,, but at the same time idk if I would feel comfortable if he knew I see V.arney as a husband,,,, 😅

But being able to gush throughout the episodes at his scenes, and pointing out details about him has me feeling all 🥰💞💞💖💞💞💞 I don't get to gush about V.arney enough to other people,,, since not all of you know his source, so id feel bad just info dumping, and fandomwise there's hardly any post for him to reblog,,, so I can't do it much as I want to,,,, so it's nice to be able to do for a change with to someone who actually know him,,,, and it's always fun to see others acknowledge my affections for a f/o UwU 💕 Still doing our rewatch so I will mention if anything else noteworthy is said (or if i just wanna post about for myself so I don't forget, like mostly how this post is meant to be)

as sunny from omori, i remember kel falling off the swings at the playground when we were children. we liked to do these little contests to see who could swing the highest. kel always won, but its fine because i simply enjoyed swinging (the wind, watching the sky 'move' above me, feeling like I'm flying) and being with him (hearing his laughter, his loud brash voice, and just being around his infectiously good mood). once he got into a lil accident when he was trying to get off his swing and ended up launching himself across the playground sand. he was fine. we made sure he was more careful when he played on the swings again

one thing i love about this game is the community aspect makes certain things much easier

like fur example. each player has a plant in their house. there's lotz of diff plants in the game && all the plants bear diff fruit obviously. watering uur own plant && others' plants gives uu exp && coins (quite a meager amount tho) and it's part of quests sometimes

&& when the plants bear fruit, other players can pick uur fruit and get normal fruit! 6 normal fruit is required to attend a party! (bc uu have to contribute treats oooobviously)

when enough people have taken fruit from uur own plant, then uur own normal fruit turns into rare fruit! && when uu have 3 of the same rare fruit uu can be the one who throws parties!

does that sound convoluted. idc it makes perfect sense to me in the game (⁠ʘ⁠ᴗ⁠ʘ⁠✿⁠)

so here's where the community part comes in. there's different forums uu can post to, but the most important forums (to me) are the water, fruit, && party forums. when someone wants ppl to water their plant, they post in the water forum and include what town they live ingame. when someone wants ppl to take fruit, they post in the fruit forum. && when someone holds a party, they post in the party forum

see this makes thingz SO much easier.

there's a quest where uu need to water 8 plants from a specific town (my melody park, hello kitty avenue, etc. bc remember this is Sanrio). now uu could spam the "walk" button && go to random houses and pray uu find someone who lives in the town that uu need.

but it's faster w the forum! bc uu just open the water forum and since everyone states which town they live in, it's easy to find ppl who live in the town uu need fur the quest!

and if uu wanna attend a party but uur low on normal fruit, just open the fruit forum! easy as that!

&& when uu get enough normal fruit from picking other ppls fruits, then uu can find a party to attend in the party forum!! i luv checking out posts in the party forum and see which party to attend based on the plushes i can get if i attend :3 (bc diff rare fruits used to start a party = diff plushes that the host and attendants can receive)

so yeah that's the main thing i wanna infodump about. i think the gacha could still be a bit better but if uu just keep logging in every day, even just to do basic quests, it still helps ^_^

I'm aiming to get 2k coins so i can pull 7x on the aurora aquarium banner and 7x on the moon horoscope banner bc i like the aesthetics :3 i might pull on the brown leopard banner too but it's not my top priority rn. I'm a gambling addict tho so sometimes i do 2-4 pulls on other banners just to take the edge off LMAOAOOA (when uu pull for the first time on a banner the price is cheaper! then it goes up on the 2nd time, up again on the 3rd time, until it goes up and stops at the 4th time i think)

just finished bleach anime and

i really feel the arc it has gotten to take as a shounen anime has been perfect and i’m really glad i got to experience it at this time.

i started bleach in december of last year, just before it was confirmed it would be returning as an anime. i remember tearing through the soul society arc, back when the show had great pacing (haha) before i finally ran into the announcement trailer so this news came as a gift(!) rather than a suggestion to watch the show. in some ways i feel like i’ve been bingeing bleach all year (but can’t be true otherwise i would have finished long ago) and in other ways i feel surprised i beat the deadline to have caught up to the anime (i had to set a goal to watch one episode a day).

i think some people would scoff at this opinion but i really think bleach is getting the perfect run as a shounen and by that i mean, it’s a series that has been fortunate enough to be a classic long-running weekly anime, existed for a while in the era of seasonal shounens then gets rebooted at a perfect time in terms of great animation, pacing and just general hype around anime! even the fact that ya okay there were a lot of tedious filler arcs to distance itself from the manga but rather than continue with that until the manga concluded, they chose to seemingly end the show in respect of the story’s pride (laughs in byakuya), it’s like bleach got the best of both worlds. like silly filler is really just a mark of 2000s era shounen and honestly like ya im eternally raging when im in it but its definitely a product of that period and all those shows which was an iconic time. but at the same time it was never so saturated with filler, or maybe more true is it was self-aware enough when it was filler, that it never made the overall storyline overly convoluted and off-putting. 

i also feel arcs 1-15 were very classic weekly shounen energy, like similar energy to naruto, but the lost agent arc was getting closer to the new-gen of shounen that i feel emerged around 2012 with shows like aot and tokyo ghoul. i feel like those shows became a lot more contained within a season, so had better pacing and idk if this was just different subject material or a product of the pacing, but a psychological aspect was added to the anime. i don’t know how gassed up or critiqued arc 16 is, and even for me i wouldn’t be like ‘wow fave arc’ at all but there was something rewarding about the mystery of ichigo regaining his powers. it just felt like an entirely different show and even though i knew it wasn’t filler, i really had to double check that the arc was in the manga as well as if it was still a weekly running, rather than seasonal (it was). also just the improvement in animation and set design that season really made it feel like it was a complete different season of bleach. and all the tropes of that season! the time skip, the losing/regaining powers arc, that the usual allies don’t appear (mostly) until Ichigo needs them pov story-telling, the character redesigns, the absolutely new all-knowing cast of characters, like !!! so perfect!!! just iconic anime tropes that deserved to be explored in bleach!!! idc if people say that’s cliche, i say its signature!!! 

it makes me so glad that this new season will probably bring that same energy, mainly in the redesigns. although i’m not a manga reader, it seems lost agent arc was a tedious but necessary story to get ichigo his power backs and get the plot to a point where an epic arc can be told so I’m glad it was covered in 2012. 

:’) just feeling v v glad i timed my watching of bleach right and that it was the shounen i chose to revisit at this age. it had just the right amount of nostalgia, in that i’m under the impression i watched but barely retained the first two arcs (in anime) and read the manga sporadically (i remember owning the physical volume with ulquiorra on it!!) about ten years-ish ago so i’d have slight moments of deja vu for characters but for the most part it was a new story.

but ya i guess this is gonna be a bleach fan blog lmao if any one wants to gas up bleach together, has advice on best anime blogs to follow, etc! also if anyone knows how to hide tags so i don’t get spoiled would also be lovely to know hehe tumblr has changed A L O T since i was last here and i don’t want to read the manga, just want to experience the anime fresh ;u; (also this blog will be pretty soon i just want to express my feelings haha also silly but i been sitting on this blog/url for like six months which is c r a z y)

Then i have Nezuko, Giyuu, and Kanao from the same set of mini-figures. Then theres a very tiny and derpy figure of, yet again, tanjiro, and a mall little wobbly plastic thing i got for free at a con of Urokodaki.
