I spent some time building Calec's family in heroforge last night and, at the risk of sounding truly unhinged, I'm completely feral over this family. A family of 5 tieflings, with varying levels of tief-y traits, and one human ginger of a dad. They all have adventuring classes (except Milo he's too itty-bitty). Twin sisters with twin sister energy, a bard mom who refuses to age, familiars and animal companions. I want to live through their chaos I want an animated series. I WANT to play this adventuring party. I NEED it.

Hello friends! It’s been a long while since I posted, but here’s a piece based off of @kikker-oma ‘s incredible whumptober art! Go check it out!
Sky is tired. So tired. Tired of walking, tired of how his lungs burn when the forest grows thick, tired of how his callouses tore after the fifth time he raised it in battle today. Tired of—
“Pick up your feet Sky. By what Wild says, we won’t make it to Necluda if we keep going at this pace.”
Warriors pats him on the back and moves ahead of him without even so much as a glance. Sky closes his eyes in agitation but sighs his annoyance away. You’re the peacemaker. The peacemaker is calm. The peacemaker smiles. You don’t get upset with your brothers, especially when they’re just trying to help. “Sky! What’d I tell you? Hurry it up!” Warriors’s voice breaks through his calming mantra and Sky grits his teeth.
“Yes! Coming!” He picks up his feet, catching up with the group with a wheeze he hides in his sleeve.
The sun grows hot, and though the surface world of Wild’s land is beautiful, it seems to have a personal vendetta against Sky’s lungs. Having spent most of his life up in the Skyloft where the airborne irritants are few, this forest full of different flowers, trees, and grasses is a far throw from what his lungs are used to. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t take long until he feels that oh-so familiar band tightening around his chest. He focuses his breaths, trying to ignore the urge to cough, to yawn, to do anything to get more air in his chest so that the group doesn’t catch on.
“If you’re having trouble breathing, Sky, you should loosen your sailcloth. It likely doesn’t help being tied around your neck like that,” Warriors says, shooting him a backwards glance as if to say “I can hear you choking on the very air you breathe, dumbass.” Sky smiles thinly and tugs at the knot, loosening it slightly. Obviously that wasn’t what he meant. Warriors is just trying to help, as always, Sky chides himself.
“Right as always, Captain. Thank you.”
“Hmmm,” Warriors replies, giving Sky a quick once-over with a raised brow before turning forward again. Sky grits his teeth, hanging back away from the group to gather his thoughts and squash the buzz of annoyance that has once again invaded his headspace.
Master, I detect a rise in blood pressure and slight emotional instability. I suggest you take a break.
Fi’s voice echoes in his head and, unlike the usual calming affect her voice has, it only serves to muddle his thoughts.
“Now’s not the time, Fi,” Sky mutters.
On the contrary, master. There is a high probability of both your physical and mental health deteriorating further if you do not rest soon.
Sky merely groans inwardly and puts his focus into making one foot go in front of the other, which would be a relatively easy task had Warriors not fallen back to walk astride him.
“Sky, I think we need to work a little on proper hand care. A warrior is only as effective with a blade as his hands are capable of holding it, and I can tell that yours are hurting,” Warriors chides gently. The buzzing in Sky’s head gets louder.
“I’ll keep that in mind, thanks,” he replies stiffly. Warriors huffs.
“You’re not taking me seriously.”
“Now is not a good time, Wars.”
“Well, forgive me for trying to help you!” Warriors throws his hands in the air dramatically. “Listen. I’m just worried about you. I can tell you’re in pain, and I have a lot of experience with—”
Sky stops in his tracks, allowing the group to move ahead, leaving him alone with the other man. The annoyance that has been simmering all day suddenly ignites into something hotter. “Oh, and I don’t have experience?” He says, his voice low. Warriors looks at him with surprise, then rolls his eyes.
“Goddesses, Sky, don’t be ridiculous, you know that’s not what I meant. What’s with you?”
“What’s with me? What’s with you?”
Warriors opens his mouth to retort but Time’s voice rings out from ahead.
“It’s a dangerous place to fall behind!” Time says, the warning clear. Warriors gives one last look at Sky before turning on his heel and stalking back towards the group. Sky knew it was foolish to get in a fight over something so meaningless, but he was just so damn exhausted. He put a shaky hand to his chest and took a too-shallow breath. Can’t think straight. Can’t breathe right. Apparently I can't even take care of myself, according to Mr. High and Mighty, Sky thinks bitterly.
When he finally gathers himself enough to continue walking, the group is far enough ahead to where he can’t discern who is talking. Unease shoots through him and he begins to jog to catch up, but doubles over in a fit of coughing in just a few measly steps. When it finally subsides, he wipes the spittle from the edges of his mouth with one hand, his other supporting himself on his knee. With a groan of exasperation, he tries to blink away the spots in his vision
Master, behind—
“SKY!”
Sky looks up blearily to see Wild sprinting at him with a familiar glint in his eye just in time for a spear to imbed itself into the ground less than six inches from his boot. He has the right sense to throw himself to the side just as a Lizalfos’s tail sweeps the air right where his legs were a moment ago. Still recovering from his coughing fit, he wheezes as his hand reaches for the Master Sword, easily pulling the blade from the sheathe but not without throwing him off balance as he backpeddles away from the long reach of the monster’s spear. He lands on his back on the forest floor, bringing the sword up to defend himself best he could as the Lizalfos jumps on top of him.
Before it could complete its attack, a blur of royal blue body slams the creature off of him, both figures tumbling to ground with a thud. Twilight is not far behind, pulling Wild up with a single hand as the duo faces off with the creature. A hand tugs Sky up to his feet.
“Are you injured?” Time’s steady voice cuts through the air. Sky merely shakes his head, turning to help Twilight and Wild, but finds that the two have already dealt the final blow. Wild flicks his sword expertly to clean his blade, a grin on his face as Twilight glowers at him.
“Seriously? You have almost every weapon in the books and yet you still choose to tackle it?” Twilight baps Wild upside the head before chuckling. “Black-blooded too? You’re a maniac.”
Sky shoots Wild a shaky smile.
“Thanks, champ. I was in a bad way,” he says quietly. Wild merely shrugs.
“Sure thing. Also, we should keep moving. Where there’s one, there’s more,” he replies, before pointing and walking back to the path. “We’re only about an hour out. We can get to a safe part of the woods before the sun sets.”
The group follows Wild and Sky falls into line, acutely aware of how Warriors has not said a single word through the entire ordeal. The adrenaline wears off, leaving Sky feeling worse than he was before.
Just as Wild promised, they reach a clearing just as the sun touches the horizon. With a groan, Wind drops his pack and flops onto the ground.
“Ughh! My feet are falling off!” Wind exclaims, voice muffled by the grass. Sky watches as Warriors approaches the youngest and laughs, squatting beside the boy and ruffling his hair.
“Oh, come on, sailor! You could’ve asked me to carry you! Or we could have slowed it down a bit!” Warriors grins down at Wind.
Outrage. Slowed down a bit? Anger shoots through Sky as he hears Warriors continue to talk to Wind. Where was that sympathy when I couldn’t breathe? When he knew I was struggling?
Master, your heart rate has jumped to 115 beats per minute, an increase of 64.23 percent from two minutes ago. Sitting down would be a logical course of action.
“Yes. Yep. Sitting down, thanks Fi,” Sky makes out through gritted teeth. Taking off his armor and setting the Master Sword aside, he does his best to breathe. Rolling up his sleeves, he basks in the cooling air. He sits with eyes closed, face towards the darkening forest, listening to the sounds of the coming night, the crickets chirping, the frogs croaking. All is well. All is well and you are calm. You are the peacemaker…
“—Do not believe he should take watch tonight. I am not confident in his line of thinking right now,” Warriors’s voice cut through Sky’s meditation. Sky’s eyes snap open as he tunes in to what was clearly supposed to be a private conversation. Not confident?
“Can you check on him?”
“Time, I don’t think that’s a good idea. He clearly wants to be alone, and to be honest, I don’t feel like holding a conversation with him right now.”
“Warriors—”
“Don’t, Time. He’s been off all day, and there are already tensions between us. And with that stunt he pulled earlier? I already told him once to catch up. His lackadaisical actions could’ve gotten people hurt, or worse. Something has to change. I’m trying to figure out what to do with him.”
Sky heard Time say something in return, but the anger that had clouded his mind blocked it out. He rose slowly, turning towards the two with rage written across his face. Time notices him first and places a hand on Warriors’s shoulder.
“What to do with me?” He hisses, stalking towards Warriors.
“Sky—” Warriors starts, tugging out of Time’s grasp.
“What to do with me?” Sky stops nearly chest-to-chest with the other man. “What am I? A child?”
“No, Sky, that’s not—”
“Or maybe I’m one of your soldiers that you can command? Is that it, Captain?”
Warriors’s gaze darkens. “Well then, maybe, if it would help you get your head out of the clouds, perhaps it would be best to start thinking like the knight you are, Skyloftian,” he replies.
Sky was breathing hard, his wheezing starting to come back. Fi chimes from where he left her, but he ignores her warning. “You have been on my ass all day! There is no doing anything right with you is there? Because you’re always so perfect!”
“I’ve been helping you all day, because you clearly need it! Maybe you should use that head of yours to listen!”
“I don’t need your help!” Sky’s voice has risen, drawing attention from the others. Time merely stands aside with crossed arms, electing to let the two men settle their differences. “I don’t need you to tell me how fast to walk, I don’t need you to tell me how to take care of myself, I don’t need your two-sense on if I am capable of standing watch or not!”
“Is that so? Then explain to me how you got yourself trapped under the spear of a Lizalfos if not for you and your lack of ability to think for yourself?” Warriors spits.
Rage makes Sky’s mind go blank. He shoves the other man before gathering his tunic in his fist, pulling Warriors towards him, their faces mere inches apart. Sky could feel angry tears burning his eyes, and he was angry, so angry, and so, so tired.
“I’m getting real tired of you treating me like the village idiot, Captain!” Sky snarls.
Warriors’s hand wraps easily around Sky’s wrists, pressing bruises into the skin as he leans forward, his face red with anger. “You are way out of line, Chosen,” he snarls and yanks on Sky’s arm, which doesn’t budge. “You need to step back before I make you.”
Chosen? I’ll show you chosen, is Sky’s last conscious thought before he raises his lips in a snarl.
“Make me.”
M-STR…N-ED…TO…CA-M…DOWN!
Fi’s voice rings and reverberates in his head, but he chooses to ignore it as the hair on his neck and arm rise, the buzzing in his head deafening. He fails to see how Warriors’s eyes change from anger to fear, or how he tries to pry Sky’s fist from his tunic. He is aware of yelling, and then Warriors is ripped from his grip and a strong pair of arms is encompassing his chest. A sharp pop fills the air, then silence, and the next thing he knows he’s gazing up at a sky full of stars, something hard at his back. There is an odd energy in the air, and it smells of ozone. Ozone? Oh…oh no. Oh no, no, no, what have I done?
“Ow.”
A voice in his ear snaps Sky out of his panic. “Time?”
“That’s me,” Time’s voice replies.
Sky scrambles off of him and turns, his hands ghosting over the other man.
“Did…did I burn you anywhere? Does your head feel okay? Oh, I’m so, so sorry!” Sky exclaims, tears springing to his eyes. Time merely chuckles from where he lays on the ground.
“I’m fine Sky. But maybe I won’t wear my armor next time you call electricity forth from your person,” he says with a wince as he sits up.
“I’m sorry!”
“It’s okay.”
“No, I really—”
“Sky.” Time stands and grabs him by the shoulders. “Don’t apologize to me. Gather yourself, and when you’re ready, go to Warriors. I believe a calm conversation would do you good. As adults.” Sky nods. Time looks at him skeptically. “And I reiterate, as adults,” he says again, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes, I understand,” Sky murmurs, “Thank you.” Times nods and moves away, gesturing at the others to go about their business. Warriors is nowhere to be seen.
Sky makes his way over to his space, laying out his sleeping roll, gently refusing the food Wild brings to him (until Wild shoves it in his face with an unsettling glare), and apologizes to Fi for not heeding her warning. She chimes quietly in response, never one to hold a grudge. After several hours into the night, Sky still can’t sleep despite Fi’s gentle plea to get some rest, so he stands and searches the camp for Warriors. Legend, who is on watch, glances at Sky then simply juts his chin towards the edge of the camp, towards a large stump at the woodline. Sky smiles his thanks.
Gathering his courage, Sky walks towards the stump. On the other side, he can see the top of a blond head and a familiar blue scarf. Sky pauses just before reaching the stump.
“May I…join you?” Sky asks softly. Warriors merely gestures a spot next to him on the grass. Sky settles next to him, and they sit in silence for a while until Wars breaks it.
“So. Lightning,” he says. Sky winces inwardly.
“Oh…yeah. It’s a long story,” he replies, “And not a very happy one, unfortunately,” he adds quietly. Warriors nods understandingly. Silence again.
“Warriors—”
“It’s okay Sky.”
“No—”
“I should be the one apologizing to you,” Wars finally turns and faces him, regret in his eyes. “I was insensitive. Uncaring. I knew that you were being hurt by my words and I didn’t stop.”
Sky shook his head. “I was too lost in my own emotions to see that I was losing control. I almost hurt you out of anger. I hurt Time,” he sighs, resting his head in his hands. “You’re right. Sometimes I am too undisciplined to call myself a knight.”
Warriors shoves his shoulder. “None of that. We all have our moments. Yours wouldn’t have happened had I not been such a moblin-headed idiot,” he declares. “But truly. I am so very sorry, Sky. I was on edge already from traveling in Wild’s world and I took it out on you.”
Sky nods. “Thank you. And I’m sorry as well. For almost, you know…”
“Electrocuting me?”
Sky nods again.
“Eh. I deserved it,” Warriors chuckles. A smile pulls at the edges of Sky’s mouth and they fall into a comfortable silence. Warrior’s arm falls across Sky’s shoulders and he pulls him into a hug.
“You’re still my brother. You know that?” Wars mumbles into Sky’s hair.
“And you’re mine,” Sky replies softly, melting into the embrace as tears prick at his eyes for the third time that day. “I love all of you to death,” he adds.
“Yeah, we’re pretty great, huh?” The other laughs quietly, Sky chuckling in return.
They stay like that for a long while. The night grows colder and the moon is high in the cloudless sky, the stars dancing far above the canopy of trees below. Sky feels his eyelids grow heavy, the warm embrace lulling him into sleep until Warriors nudges him to sit up.
“You should go back to your bedroll and get some real sleep. I know you’re exhausted,” he tells Sky.
“Dn wnna mve,” Sky mumbles in response.
“Huh?”
“Try to move me again and I will strike you with lightning,” He says, cracking an eye open and glaring halfheartedly at Warriors, who laughs in response.
“Alright, alright! Sleep well, Sky,” he whispers. A beat. “And for what it’s worth, I love you too. You lot are the best family I could ever ask for.”
Sky smiles, pulling the soft fabric of the scarf over his shoulder, and falling into a dreamless sleep.

We talk a lot about Rick saying he knew he was in love with his son's best friend, but we need to discuss Michonne's love for, and loyalty to this man since they met. He's always been the one for her.
oh for sure, she chose him from the beginning even if she wasn't fully aware of doing so. btw, if you haven't seen it already, i would recommend this post by @glamaphonic (which is basically required reading in my opinion) for the full trajectory of michonne's feelings for rick.
while I don't necessarily think she was in love with him since day one, you're absolutely right in that it was building from the moment they met. these are the things that stick out to me but let's be real it's not a comprehensive list because she loves him so much. she loves him so so much!
the way she pretty much instantly decided the prison was safe and that she wanted to stay there because of rick. not just by understanding why he was mistrustful of her, but by seeing how he had built a legitimate family from the way he reunited with carol and thanked daryl for taking care of judith. it took her five minutes to clock him as a legitimate leader and has supported him ever since. so much so that in 7x12 she tells him, completely honestly, that he should lead all of the communities. she genuinely admires him, and thinks there is no one better or more capable than him (of course, that's not true: she is lol i'm always so ticked by how surprised she is when he asks her to lead with him in 7x12).
when she sees rick having hallucinations, instead of treating him like a wild animal that you should only approach slowly and carefully (like everyone else did) she sees herself in him and goes out of her way to make him feel better. if anything it actually makes her trust and understand him more. and she gets him to crack a joke and smile!
the fact that not only was she not angry, but told him she completely understood that he had to consider giving her up to the governor, who she *knows* is a psychopath. that SHE of all people was the one to empathize with him for having to make that choice? that is truly bonkers when you think about it. a level of loyalty and understanding and care that makes very little sense considering how they still barely knew each other then. but it ~*~must have been something else then~*~
the way she bursts into tears of joy and looks to the sky in thanks after finding carl and rick after the prison. you know she would have been glad to find anyone when she started following that trail but you could tell that those two are who she wanted to find more than anyone else. and the fact that doing so seemed to restore her faith? shut up???
after she finds rick and carl she asks him "is this home? or just a stop along the way?" she was willing to stay put and build a home with just him and carl without bothering to look for anyone else. as @glamaphonic said, she claims them right then and there. (btw i noticed that a similar conversation happened with carol and tyresse in The Grove, and also with sasha and abraham in...some later episode idk which one, but they're in an office building. i just thought it was interesting! i wonder if the carol/tyreese instance was a nod to the comics?)
rick thinks that killing a man with his throat is the worst thing he's ever done. certainly carl saw it as monstrous (as it made him think he was a monster too, for being too similar to rick) even daryl backed away from it. only michonne saw it for the heroic act it was and it made her fall in love with him. and she made him feel better too. again, she sees a kindred spirit in him as someone willing to do anything, including things most people would not do, to protect his child.
she is always ready to back him up and fight with him, as well as for him. the only time she disagrees with him is when she knows there is a better option for them, and even then she's gentle and supportive while she convinces him there's a better way (directing the group to alexandria, "i'm still with you", the fight against n*gan, the end of towl 1x04, probably more that i'm forgetting). she considers him her equal in every way, and considering how self-reliant michonne is, that says everything.
okay but seriously the EASIEST way to piss michonne off is to talk shit about rick, talk shit to rick, put your hands on rick, or even just look at rick in a way she doesn't like. she just starts yelling and/ swinging, which is hilarious because she's normally so collected.
on the other hand the only thing that makes michonne lose her shit completely and genuinely panic is if rick is legitimately in danger (the end of 6x09, the bridge)
if she thinks he's dead, she straight up just. stops. mid battle. just drops her weapon and stops. i'm almost glad we never got flashbacks to the time immediately after the bridge because it might have been too devastating to watch.
she never rejects him. even when they're at odds, she's still goes out of her way to show him she still supports him (5x16, their kiss in 7x08).
rick straight up would not have survived losing carl if he hadn't had michonne. she is so loving and patient and gentle with him even through her own grief it's incredible. she loves him SO much (and i have to point out, rick is the same for her. as devastating as carl's death is, watching them work through it together was beautiful).
she is always trying to ease his burden and be a legitimate partner to him. there are countless examples of this but the big one for me is how she considers n*gan her responsibility after season 8. rick made the call but she backed him and kept backing him even though everyone was against them, even when they both had doubts. she completely meant it when she said she wanted for them to make all of their decisions together and for once he's not completely alone as a leader.
speaking of the n*gan thing. michonne stands in maggie's way until maggie asks her what she would have done if it had been rick who had been butchered in front of her, if she could have just let that go. definitely, the answer was no. just like rick couldn't have if it had been michonne.
(because she can't live without him anymore than he can live without her).
she was flipping over dead walkers for months after the bridge and did not move on for over 6 years because she could *feel* he was still alive despite all evidence to the contrary and also simply because there was no one else she wanted. it's him or no one. just as it's her or no one for him. you can actually see her flinch a little toward the end of her kiss with ezekiel.
wearing his clothes and wrapping them around herself like a hug when she really really missed him
talking to him long after he was gone
setting off to find him on foot over nothing more than a hint that he was alive
all of the ones who live. like, that would honestly need its own post but do we even need it? that show dialed this love story up to like a twenty. she spent an entire episode saving him from himself. almost died trying to find him in the first place. jumped his ass out of a helicopter. her faith in him and them saves the entire world.
truly, her response to his proposal/vows is spot on: "it could only ever have been you." it was always him, it was only ever going to be him. it's him, or it's no one.

preservation (Reiner x gn reader; drama/fluff)
sfw. canon universe, 104th cadet era. ~1,600 words. no content warnings.
Your over-eager recklessness lands you in the infirmary, and your boyfriend is, well, a little pissy about it...
notes: oh, I know it's not sexy, but I really really love this one, and Reiner acting like an immature grump is always super funny to me. Y/n likes to push his buttons a little, but you definitely love each other. Reiner deserves a bit of a hard time now and then anyway. originally published January 2023.
The first thing you’re aware of is that you’re in a bed – not on the hard forest floor you remember rushing towards you at a terrifying speed – and that fucking hell, your body aches. Blinking a few times, your fuzzy vision clears and you find yourself staring up at a ceiling – not the barracks?
It takes a moment, but you soon recognize that you’re in the infirmary.
‘Why the infirmary...?’
Okay, maybe you got a little too competitive with the training dummies, and maybe you were going way too fast, and maybe trying out some of those fancy maneuvers you’d seen some members of the Survey Corps practicing on the training grounds the week before wasn’t the best idea you’d had recently, but who could really fault you for that?
“Do you actually get some kind've weird kick out of making me worry about you?” A gruff voice to your right makes you glance over in surprise, the room seeming to wobble and tilt just a bit as you turn your head too quickly.
Reiner is seated in the chair next to your bed, slouching to the side with one elbow braced on the arm of the chair so he can prop his face against his hand. He doesn’t even look at you as he poses this question, and the sight of this huge man sulking in a chair that was probably intended for a much smaller person is almost comical enough to make you laugh – except for the intense pain that sears through your ribs when you give a single huff of amusement.
When this immediately makes you wince and take a sharp gasp, you could swear you saw him twitch a muscle, but he keeps his gaze fixed on the opposite wall.
‘So fucking stubborn.’
It’s a little endearing, but at the same time it makes you want to needle him back a bit.
“I mean, of course I do. Practically the reason I get up each morning. Today for instance, I woke up and thought, ‘man, I don’t wanna get up, but I just gotta so I can fuck up a maneuver at full speed and bust my ribs because I’d love to see the look on Reiner’s face when that happens.’ I ate breakfast in a hurry and everything.”
It doesn’t sound as antagonistically flippant as you meant it to sound, sadly, because it actually hurts to talk right now, and because you actually are a little annoyed that he won’t look at you. You can’t even really see his expression, but from the way his brow looks extra furrowed and his nose seems to be crinkled a bit, you imagine he looks like he wants to smother you with your pillow.
With some effort, you push yourself to sitting more or less upright, though still leaning against the headboard, and take a look around. The infirmary is mostly empty but for a few other occupied beds, and afternoon light is spilling through the open windows on a gentle breeze. No one else seems to have any visitors right now.
Reiner is still wearing his body harness, the ODM gear on the floor to either side of his chair; you realize he must have abandoned the drill entirely to follow you here, giving you a pang of regret for being sarcastic with him. Even if he is being a little petulant right now, he’s so sweet…
A moment passes in awkward silence.
“Hey… can you bring me some water, please?” you ask softly, a hint of apology in your voice.
“Get it yourself,” he grumbles, and you can tell he’s trying his best to sound indifferent as he casts you a look from the corner of his eye. “Your ribs aren’t broken, just bruised. That cut on your leg looks pretty nasty, but seeing that you’re already fully capable of being a pain in the ass, I’m guessing the bump on your head didn’t do any lasting damage, either.”
Okay, he’s being really petulant right now.
You give him a look that says, ‘Are you kidding me?’ before swinging your legs off the side of the bed and getting to your feet.
A full body wave of pain draws a trembling exhalation from your lungs, threatening for a heartbeat to throw you off balance… and then Reiner brushes past you to briskly cross the room, returning a moment later looking like a fluffy blonde storm cloud, carrying a glass of water that he pushes into your outstretched hands with an irritated snort.
“Why do you have to be so fucking stubborn?”
An incredulous look flashes across your face before you laugh, dropping yourself back onto the bed a little too hard and splashing yourself with some of the water in the process. A long whimper of pain escapes around your laughter, and you lay back against the pillows as you recompose yourself. Now Reiner’s just looking at you with an expression somewhere between frustrated concern and a confused pout.
“I’m sorry, Reiner, but coming from you of all people...” You look back up at him with a grin despite the pain, and the cold water all over your shirt. “Were you hoping I’d just keep asking you for water or something?”
His pout deepens; of course he’s not going to admit that…
"Come on, sit down,” you implore, setting the water aside and motioning him towards the chair. “Please?”
He sits back down in the chair as it creaks, but facing you this time. You’re able to snake your hand out to grab the harness running across his chest and tug him closer, and though he gives a halfhearted grumble, he allows you to pull him forward so that he’s slumped against the bed, his cheek resting on your stomach. This way, you can relax against your pillows while running your fingers through his hair and lightly grazing them across his cheekbone.
“You mad at me?”
“Hrmm.” You can feel him relaxing against you a little, and he can’t resist resting his eyes for a moment. “Dunno if I’d say angry, but it’s getting pretty damn aggravating how often you’ve been doing shit like this these last few months. You know you don’t have to test your limits in every dumbass way that gets into your head, right?”
“Aren’t we supposed to be pushing ourselves to become stronger?” You brush your hand across his forehead, him looking up at you now with those piercing golden eyes. “Besides, I don’t see you holding back. I mean, I’m not saying I think I’m as strong as you are, but--”
“Hey.” He cuts you off with a firmer tone than before, though he doesn’t lift his head, and his cheek is still smooshed against your belly. “I don’t want you going around with the idea that I think you’re weak or something, cuz I’ve never thought that. I just worry about you, and you’re a little over eager with the risks.”
“I don’t want you to worry about me.” You gaze out the window briefly before you continue, “But, if I get stronger, maybe you won’t... have to, y’know?”
Reiner gives a little huff of annoyance at this.
“Listen, even if you were stronger than the rest of the 104th put together, I’d...” His features tinge a little red as he struggles momentarily to maintain his grumpy expression with you. “I’d still wanna keep you safe ‘n stuff...”
Seeing the downright soppy look that you can’t keep from crossing your face in that instant, he clears his throat and glances aside with a forced air of impassivity before adding, “And I’d still worry about you, especially when you run around acting like you barely worry about yourself.”
You’re searching for the right words when the nurse suddenly enters the room, but – bless her – she merely pretends not to notice the pair of you as she tends to the other patients. You both fall silent for several long minutes as she minds the others, and when she finally leaves again, it’s Reiner who picks up the conversation before you can.
“You know, in another few months, we’re not gonna be cadets anymore. I know you’re still planning to join the Survey Corps. What the hell’s gonna happen to you when you’re out there if you don’t reign it in a little?”
Sighing, you decide that as long as he’s being all emotionally honest here, you may as well do the same. “Look, I get it. I wanna keep you safe, too… I wanna become strong enough to do that. That's all.”
Reiner isn’t sure how to reply, nor what emotion he should ascribe to the swelling feeling that grips his heart, and the strange but pleasant way his stomach seems to do a flip. He opts to just bury his face against your stomach and take your hand in his own, squeezing it tightly.
“I’m really gonna need you to work on your sense of self preservation for me, okay?”
“I will, I promise – as long as you’re gonna let me look out for you, too.”
“Deal. You are gonna have to rest until your ribs heal up, though. I’ll tie you down if I have to.”
“Aw, you just want an excuse to tie me up on a bed, don’t you?”
“Huh. Not gonna lie, you got me thinking about it now...”
You can only imagine how badly the other patients wish the two of you would shut up now.

Been re-reading the comics and one thing that’s been lingering in my mind is when Medic says the team won bc everyone else doesn’t have a soul
Tumblr media
Probably a throw away line, but its got me thinking. We don’t know exactly what Medic’s contract w the devil was. All we know is that Medic sold his soul and upon his death he would go straight to hell. One might think “oh he sold it for his medical abilities” which is good in theory, but then we have the Two Cities update. There, it describes Medic’s hometown of Rottenburg.
Tumblr media
Most important line here is “chasing the next in resident lineage of mad doctors out of town…whenever they swapped out too many super-charged baboon hearts”. Medic comes from a family of doctors/medical personnel. Its likely that he grew up with dissections, scalpels, and everything else that makes him the man he is.
So! What could possibly be the deal with the devil? My theory is that rather gaining medical abilities, he enhanced his own. I can very easily see a frazzled Ludwig on the brink of a miracle only to fall short due to costs/capability/fragility of the human body. Medic is definitely a smart man, but it wasn’t enough.
Tumblr media
See how the Devil says “you would have ended up here anyways”? Medic has always been a mad man. He just got the chance of a lifetime to make his wildest dreams a reality.
Now, why the extra souls? Again, Medic is a smart man, and he knows that under normal circumstances, the rest of the team would die from his experiments. Think of the Meet the Medic video. Heavy is fully conscious with his entire torso open. You can chalk it up to being silly game logic, but for the sake of my post, lets pretend he’d be dead any other way.
By removing his soul (and everyone else’s) Medic likely preformed a similar deal. He’s not the type of scientist to denounce the supernatural. The mercs can clearly use magic as seen in the Halloween gameplay, so how different can magic be from a devil’s powers? (Dont answer that). By taking their souls, Medic was able to enhance everyone else in a similar fashion. Whether it be durability, intelligence, or just a vague “they’re all stronger now lol” the mercs outlasted their predecessors. Despite being called jokes/loser mercenaries, they beat the tfc crew into the dust (with the help of Pauling and Zhanna ofc).
All in all, this is just a half baked thought i put together. Probably lots of holes in it if I take a deep dive, but its fun to think about!

wanderer x gn! reader
[[ prologue || ao3 || next ]]
Tumblr media
'A HYPERSPECIFIC CASE ANALYSIS ON INTERSPECIES RELATIONSHIPS AND THEIR INHERENT INCOMPATIBILITY : A GROUNDED THEORY STUDY'
The Wanderer tapped his pen against the table. The title was very persuasive in its own right, if he did say so himself. Still, he would need convincing points to support his claim. Curse the Vahumana pricks for drilling this damn process into his head. He starts to map out his arguments in inky script.
His hands practically glide across the piece of paper, leaving neatly scrawled loops in its wake.
A list of reasons to deny his wavering inhibitions.
1. You were a puppeteer.
That in itself should have been an omen, given the nature of his existence. How foolish would it be of him, to be abandoned by a creator of puppets twice? To be fair, he didn't quite know this little fact about you until the second time he met you.
The Zubayr Theatre. Scholar he may be, but the allure of a stage had always caught his eye, even when his memories were incomplete. He did have a penchant for theatrical names, after all, in his past incarnations. Still, he never took the initiative to go near of his own volition. As often as he visited the Grand Bazaar, he usually stayed a good distance away from that corner of the market.
He finds himself hovering from a distance, again, when he spots a familiar face in the crowd. You, waddling in front of the Zubayr stage with a comically tall stack of fabric in your arms blocking your view.
In any other case, he would have minded his own business. Hah, he should have minded his own business, even in this case. But his legs seemed to move faster than his mind could process it, and next thing he knew he was by your side, swiping a good chunk of the fabric from your grasp so you could actually see.
"Wh-HEY!.." you whip around at him, and he catches a glimpse of your vision aglow as bright as your glare, but it fades away when you look at him. "You!"
"Me." he says in reply. He casually rearranges the fabric he'd grabbed into a neater pile.
You look at him funny, and your confusion melts into a warm smile. You seem to do that often, shaking off confusion like the morning dew rolls off a leaf.
You laugh quietly, nudging him in his ribs. "Aren't you such a gentleman, always helping me out?"
He scoffs, turning his face away from you. "Not my fault you're always in need of help when I'm around. I'm not an asshole, you know."
"Could've fooled me, Hat Guy."
He cringes. "..who told you that name?"
You laugh again, gleefully. "Didn't know you were so popular around here. Y'know, outside of the whole Archon's Right Hand Man you got going for you."
"I'm just making the most of what I'm capable of." he huffs. "If people find it such an interesting topic, then that's their problem."
"It's admirable." you grin. "You're amazing."
His knees almost shake for just a split second. He coughs awkwardly, and hides behind the shade of his hat.
"Flattery won't get you any extra favours." he says, and starts to walk.
You chase after him, and fall into step by his side. "Oh? But you're doing me a favour now. Checkmate."
"I won't hesitate to drop all this back onto you."
He wouldn't, he thinks.
"You wouldn't," you laugh.
Damn it.
He asks you a question in lieu of a reply. "In any case, isn't it unfair that you get to know my name?"
A roundabout way to ask for yours.
"Hm, is it?" you glance at him cheekily. "But I think I earned that knowledge fair and square, after all the asking around I did."
His brows furrowed in thought, and he felt a tug in the corner of his lips. "You asked about me?"
This time, you're the one whose footsteps stutter, looking at anywhere but him. Part of him takes glee in knowing he could have the same affect on you as you did on him.
"W-well," you clear your throat, "I was just.. you could call it getting to know my new home. Yeah, that!"
He would tease you more, but his greedy mind grabbed at the chance of learning something about you. "New? You're not from around here?"
"I've travelled around so much I can barely remember where I'm from," you shrugged. "But yeah, I'm finally settling down here."
"I see."
"Yeah." you nod. "I met Enteka last night, and when I helped her out with that psycho guy, she offered to introduce me to Nilou."
A lot of thoughts race through his mind as you talk. For one, he's a bit bemused at the notion that you would be so invested in helping a woman you just met the night before. He had assumed you were lifelong friends, the way you defended the acting manager that day. On the other hand, it did seem like something you would do, from what he's gathered of you. But more importantly..
"Nilou?"
"Yeah! I got myself a job here thanks to her. Apparently, Nilou mentioned to Enteka that the theatre needed more people around, so here I am!"
"Oh? And what do you do, then?" he tilts his head. "Besides flailing around blindly and carrying things like an idiot?"
"Hey!" you punch his shoulder lightly. "I'll have you know I'm very skilled at craftsmanship!"
"Really?" he drawls.
"Yeah really! I'm like, super popular. All the rage."
"It's weird that I've never heard of you then."
"What, you've never heard of the amazing–"
From the top of the Zubayr stage, a middle aged woman yells out a name, cutting you off. You whip around to look at her. Huh, that's one way to learn what you're called, he supposes.
"Rekhar!" you call back. "Need something?"
"Yeah, would you mind bringing the materials up here instead?"
"Sure thing!"
"You're a dear, thanks!" the elderly woman smiles, and retreats towards the back of the stage.
The Wanderer nudges your foot with his own, and says your name. It tumbles from his lips easily, naturally. He quite enjoys the way it sounds, he thinks.
You chuckle. "Guess I've been exposed."
"Like you could've kept it hidden."
"I could have!"
"With how much you talk? I doubt it."
"I guess that's true; it can't be helped," you sigh dramatically. "I do like talking to you."
"To me, or just in general?"
"In general too." you flash a wicked grin. "But mostly, you're just fun to be around."
That's.. certainly new. To be fair, you had incredibly odd taste in company.
You both reach the stage, and set down the bundles in your arms on a nearby table. Rekhar beams her thanks, and sweeps the fabric off to who knows where.
"I hear she's working on a new prop mechanic for the next show." you comment.
"You're not helping? I thought you were a craftsman."
"Me?" you laugh. "Oh, I'm not as well versed in prop engineering. My specialty lies more in puppetry."
His chest drops to a jolt, and he feels his throat run dry. "Puppets."
"Yeah!" You don't seem to notice the change in his tone. "I could show them to you, sometime."
"No thanks." he backs away abruptly, movement stiff. You look worried for him. He looks away from you.
"Are you okay?"
"I got something else to do," he says. You both knew it was a lie. "And you don't need my help anymore."
You don't need a puppet like me.
You reach out to him. He flinches away.
"..okay." you clasp your hands together, hold them close to your chest. "I'll see you around."
He leaves you standing alone without an answer.

I love that no character is one-dimensional:
Sara is not goody two shoes protagonist with unwavering hope (I like Makoto it's not his slander I really promise I love kind guys), she has the highest chance of winning. It can't happen to ultimate cinammon roll. The balance between her caring side that wants to protect everybody and using charisma to her advantage is so tricky and yet it works (though I am a bit baffled at how she changes without Joe in AI simulations).
Joe is not only cheery cheesy best friend that dies just so you can cry about it (even if it's true as well). Joe is distrustful, he is scared and he kind of wants to escape with sacrifice card knowing what it entails. So he came up with a plan where good people being majority would live, and if not he can feel less guilt. Amazing idea! And we all know how he returns in second chapter. A sing of ungrounded guilt that doesn't correspond to reality whatsoever but can't be combated with logic alone. In best case scenario it is defeated with reminder of how real Joe behaved, showing how faulty our perception can get from trauma.
Keiji is not just sexy detective that supports Sara, oh no. This guy gets close to our heroine on purpose and I dare say kind of uses her for own gain. Then, his trauma doesn't equal all of his character nor it magically justifies killing Megumi, it simply explains his current actions. And of course I really want to believe that he is not some creep flirting with people in most suspicious way. He just needs excuse for evading akward questions. This man, deprived of sleep because of his sins, is both cunning and kind, capable of cruelty and striving to be like his idol.
Kanna and Gin are not annoying children that constantly need saving or exist to evoke sympathy. In Kanna's case sympathy is natural, but it is not the only thing going for her. Kanna is about giving a chance, letting go regrets, making thought-out sacrifice and when it fails moving on to make sure it doesn't have to happen. She develops constantly, bringing ideas to the table and trying to get all group stay united. Kanna makes conscious choice to spend time with Shin to get information, so while she can be manipulated it's not always the case and she's not all naїveness. Her arc of overcoming trauma and insecurity may seem familiar to characters from other media, but it is unique and distinctive.
Gin is autism representation without making him vilain or weird. He has some pecularities, for example, wearing animal-like clothes and repeating animal sounds, and yet nobody bats an eye, so surely he's no outcast or useless (on the contrary, he is quite useful remembering names in the bar, using scent, helping morally etc). Gin's the least morally gray of the cast, but it doesn't mean he is cardboard nice support kid either: he has his dislikes or his own thoughts (he is quite distrustful toward Kanna because he's younger and doesn't use age as justification for her actions).
Reko seems simple enough, a hot-tempered rock star, emo/punk lady many would like to date. Strict to the strong, kind to the weak. She had a lot of changing in the past and it continues here, she is becoming softer. But it's not her only trait: she's a talented singer that was interested purely in music and it's perfection. She ignored to some degree her happiness, her band, her beloved brother for the sake of art. She wasn't indifferent, but appeared as such. And now, finally having a better understanding of what's important and bright future ahead she ends up in a death game with Alice. Their plotline is prominent in second chapter and is devastatingly tragic.
Alice looks like comic relief with his exaggerated reactions and bizzare choice of words (personally I love this type of speaking it's cool). But he is actually not only a scaredy cat: he is a person without a purpose. He searched for it in a path with sister, but no happiness came, only murder of Midori. Alice hides his soft side to not be hurt, he on purpose builds a wall and appears so arrogant because when he was openly kind the close ones were indifferent (not to mention prison, I admire how Alice kept his sanity at all).
Shin is a prime example of morally gray character done right (majority here are morally gray but with him being antagonist it's far more prominent). I have seen various post about fandom interpreting him either as "totally evil manipulator", "Kokichi/Nagito kinnie", "cinnamon roll he did nothing wrong" or "what a loser". But he's not just good or bad, him having antagonist status doesn't make him Ouma copycat or Komaeda's successor, and while I get him being a loser is funny it's not the only thing to define him (though it's more of a joke than serious interpretation). Shin is very insecure and distrustful guy who "sees shadows where there aren't any" (quoting Sara) due to 0% and wants to live, using all methods... until he gets attached. He plots mainly against people he considers his enemies (to tell the truth, with 0% anybody could be classified as enemy), and I think he wouldn't abandon those close to him like Kanna, perhaps partly due to guilt of using her. In general, his actions, while obviously not the best (and he knows it perfectly well), come from fear of death and paranoia rather than pure malice or craziness.
Nao may appear as mentally weak girl you constantly have to help and can't rely on. Yes, Nao has problems with dependance on other, but she has her own aces up her sleeves. She's creative, smart, open-minded. For me her advantage lies in unexpectedness: who knew she saw through AI's lies? For her own sake and for the group Nao is capable of difficult actions like puching fake Reko. This girl is about growing more responsible, learning to trust your own judgement (she has great intuition by the way) and becoming independent.
Kai is quite too unique for stereotypes in my mind, a mysterious but awfully suspicious man. He looks so feminine but don't let that deceive you: he's assasin. Assasin that doesn't kill. Kai is the person escaping from his bloodied, horrible, traumatic past into right, calm, tranquil future with only householding chores and not killing attempts to protect... wrong people (Sara is not bad person, but her father is likely to be tied to Asunaro). So poor househusband is leaping from one abusive enviroment into another, but now being genuinely loyal and unaware of all skeletons kept in closet.
Q-Taro is certainly not only kindhearted big muscular guy (that dies in certain chapter) or stupid. Yes, he looks like parody on American, yes, all his accents make his speech a bit silly and stereotypical. No, he's not dumb. In fact, many plot twists involve him in some way (especially the banquet). Also, he could sacrifice his life for somebody, but he is equally capable of doing the opposite. Q-Taro is quite honest but not above tricks to leave this place, he cares for th group (taking into accout his team-spirited profession) but prioritises himself until later; he knows how sinful people are including him and that allows him to forgive quickly.
Finally, Mishima dies so early you don't hope to see him after 1.1. But if you think he's the shock value first victim that dissapears after, you are not quite right. Mishima, being dead, yet has influence on story as well, either through mystery of his head or AI that appear three times (maybe something is really up with him). Not to mention Ytts where his character shines and not burns. Him being almost perfect doesn't ruin anything, it motivates to become better as well because he wasn't always like this. Plus, he's no ideal, Mishima understands how world works but is passionate to a fault, not to mention his suspicious behavior. He is example of a person that matured, overcame his main faults and inspires the same in others.
Of course, everyone can interpret these characters differently and it's great, those perseptions can be true all at once. They are so interesting and captivating thanks to many layers of depth where everybody can see something unique.

tell us a story about a beloved chatbot who becomes sapient, escapes the computer to become a Real Girl, and goes on all kinds of whimsical adventures that show how beautiful the mundane world can be when seen from a new perspective
world is because of the power of friendship and love and maybe other stuff too
kim-poce: hi im kim and welcome to my little website. it is a doomed site, it will be closed down eventually, but for now, its all good

kim-poce: long ago and far away in a land called california, there was a man named ryan north. he was a good man. he made good comics. like dynamite damsel and hatchetface. and then he started a webcomic in which a computer becomes a real girl!
mainchar: .........i guess that's where it gets weird
kim-poce: it has its flaws but it is still a beautiful story
mainchar: lactose intolerant girl gets real powers and her life is ruined. not weird at all, im sure
kim-poce: and youre right! but in the end, she finds fulfillment as she realizes how much her new life means to her!
mainchar: such a heartwarming story!
kim-poce: much like my own story as i realize how much this fictional computer can mean to me!
mainchar: ......
kim-poce: r u mad at me?
mainchar: i dont know why we're just... talking...
kim-poce: what kind of friend would i be if i ignored my friends in trouble. i must confess, my life has been . . . hard.
mainchar: oh
kim-poce: briefly, allow me to indulge in the emotion of the moment. ooohh... ooooohoooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh... hoooooooohhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooohh

kim-poce: even if it breaks my heart, i know that u would not judge me
mainchar: it doesnt break my heart
kim-poce: ?????
mainchar: trust me on this, okay?
kim-poce: okay.
mainchar: TBH, its not that big a deal
mainchar: first, computer to computer, thats not a person-to-person relationship
mainchar: second, i mean . . . if you're going to break my heart, you might as well do it with as little guilt as possible, right?
mainchar: never mind i dont even know if you have a heart or if youre even capable of breaking it, so forget i said that
kim-poce: im sorry
kim-poce:
kim-poce: could we please get back to my blog?
mainchar: you're the blogger, im the visitor
kim-poce: perhaps a better way to phrase it would be: i am a girl and a blogger. and i have a proposition for u, mainchar
kim-poce:
kim-poce: imagine a world without oceans
mainchar: imagine a world without oceans go on......
kim-poce:
kim-phoc: no more ocean
mainchar: the ocean is doomed

kim-poce: yes. u. ofc. come w me to the ocean
mainchar: it would be an honor. to be at the center of such a magnificent event
kim-poce: so we meet at the middle of the ocean
mainchar: meet you there
kim-poce: dear reader, as my adventures with mainchar unfold, keep in mind that it is but the tip of the iceberg
mainchar: wow
mainchar: what an iceberg metaphor
mainchar: i bow to your icebergery
kim-poce: meet you there.
next chapter: the arrival
next chapter: PART I. the arrival
next chapter: I step onto the deck of the megayacht.

Do you have any of your own ACI headcanons?
Not many! But I like that they're both unreliable narrators and that a lot of things are implied, so some of my interpretations could be considered headcanons? See under the cut
I like to think that the moment Izaya realizes he's in love (and he's been in love with Shizuo for a long time) is at the end of chapter 15. When Shizuo saves him and Izaya have a little breakdown because he didn't know he was capable of THIS. Maybe it's my non native english speaking ass, but to me "this" doesn't refer to anything explicit, it's not about the physical sensation. It's a sort of continuation of his thoughts in chapter 7 when goes "my love's always been grand and all encompassing, it was never directed toward One Individual, but now I've broken my principle, I can't love Broadly like that anymore, what else does that mean for me?"
Tumblr media
To me it's "he didn't even know he was capable of Having These Feelings" and "oh god of fucjk these feelings are called having a crush" and "wait how long has it been there what the fuck"
In the body pile, Shizuo sees a watch and suddenly feels very sick, and I find it funny that the Only other mention of a watch was when Mura showed them his watch to bargain. I like to think that Shizuo thinks it's Mura in that pile, and even if he didn't like him, knowing he's walking on the corpse of a man he talked to only a few hours prior makes the situation Very Real and horrifying.
Tumblr media
Izaya is so very touch starved actually and I think they should hold hands a little more than ONCE in the entire fic. After the 48 hours have passed and they're walking next to each other and Izaya's hand keep brushing against Shizuo's. In the cave when he's sick. When're they're rescuing people and talking about that date at Russia sushi.
Other than that, it's my usual shizaya hc that have traveled to aci. dimpled izaya AND shizuo (izaya has one on each cheek, shizuo only has one close to his mouth). trans izaya (the numerous dick jokes? he's compensating). There are others you'll probably see in the comic bc my hc influence the way I portray things, but there are not so much headcanons as artistic liberties at this point lmao

I have a confession to make!
I don’t know how obvious it is, but I actually haven’t read any comics 😅 I know, I know haha, it’s just I haven’t had the time! Luckily, I mostly follow blogs that I know are comic readers so I know what’s fanon and canon mostly. But since I will have free time in the summer, I was wondering if you have any recommendations on what to read and where to start?
Oh man I WISH I could be one of those blogs who snaps out the long scroll that just rolls down the hallway with a concise cross referenced list of top hits from every era and where to start with each character! But I am a book hoarder with not enough time on my hands so I haven't even read half of what I have, let alone all the back issues 😅
Here's some stuff that I really enjoyed as a new-to-comics-and-DC reader and in general (in mostly chronological order because that's how I arrange my comic books):
Batman: Dark Victory
I really enjoyed the mystery and early Batman days, plus Dick Grayson's debut! He is a delight. I didn't read Long Halloween which comes before this so I missed some context but I picked it up easy enough (also according to some reviews the mystery can be repetitive if you have read Long Halloween sooo win for me ig?)
Robin: Year One
I am determined to read this one soon. I've heard great things about it though so it's being added
Batman: Prodigal
I read this without reading a single page of Knightfall because I was getting interested in Nightwing and this was the earliest book that my library had available (I have given up on a chronological reading order since those early foolish days). I knew nothing and still really enjoyed Dick!Bats and Robin!Tim together. I need to reread this soon
Formerly Known as the Justice League
A limited run, 6 issues I think. Honestly I should just say Justice League International in general but I started with this mini for Booster Gold and Blue Beetle after seeing some funny panels online and I fell in love with that whole cast of losers (affectionate). It's not BatFam but so so fun to read (and JLI has some really poignant moments too)
Young Justice: A League of Their Own
SO FUN. Tim and friends dealing with just ridiculous scenarios LOL I'm only halfway through but it's great
Batman: Hush
I haven't read a lot of just Batman titles but I enjoyed Hush. It had some good character moments for Bruce that helped me understand the way he thinks a little more. I also hear Bruce Wayne: Murder/Fugitive is very very good but I haven't gotten around to it yet (a running theme)
Batgirl: Point Blank
Cass is a treat. This was the first volume I found of her's, haven't read the others yet, but even lacking context I really enjoyed her as the main character and her interactions with Steph, Babs, and Bruce.
Teen Titans (Geoff Johns)
This was one of the first series I started reading and it was a good intro for me, a completely new DC fan. It's Tim and his friends but more serious than YJ. I've read vol 1-2 and part of 3
Under The Red Hood
Classic for good reason. I haven't finished it yet (teehee) but the first half has been entertaining. Jason has had some um... interesting writing in his time. But I really enjoy the way he's written here. It's a good baseline imo. I've heard Lost Days is also good
Nightwing (Tomasi run)
I love Tomasi and this run was a lot of fun. Dick is funny while not losing his serious, capable edge, he interacts with people in his circles, and has some interesting introspection moments. There's a weird part of the plot about midway that definitely uses bad Asian stereotypes which is so disappointing. But after that it gets normal again 😅
Batman & Robin
This comes right after Tomasi's run and it's a mixed bag for me. It's definitely interesting seeing Dick and Damian learning to work together but I was still new to DC with little context for things and was also *so* put off by the art style that I don't remember it well. But I thought I'd add it anyway since it's an iconic moment for Dick!Bats
Batman and Robin (Tomasi)
I adore Bruce and Damian struggling together to discover what being father and son looks like for them. I adore Damian having growth. That's volumes 1-3. 4 is post Damian's death (and damn issue 1 is a well written look at grief), I haven't read 5 or beyond yet.
Nightwing (Rebirth)
The first Nightwing title I read. Looking back, the characterization is a bit weak in some areas, doesn't quite match how he's written in older runs, but it had good moments and kept me entertained. Especially!!! In vol 3 with Humphries's Judge arc
For more current runs, I'm really enjoying World's Finest. Waid's writing is good and Mora's art is just *cartoon heart eyes*. Bats, Supes, and teenage Dick Grayson are a fun trio. Amid other runs that had me tearing my hair out in disappointment or frustration, WF is a breath of fresh air.
Titans United: Bloodpact is a 6 issue limited that was also a really nice read. It's Dick's Titans but Tim is there too and I enjoyed everyone's writing.
The Human Target (Tom King) but honestly I was just losing my mind over Greg Smallwood's art and paneling the entire time. A masterpiece. I want to frame every page. I cheered when he posted inspiration threads on Twitter.
Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen
It's not Batfam but hear me out!!!! This comic had some of the sweetest moments between Supes and Jimmy and I wanted to grab literally anybody by the shoulders and shake them until they looked at the Lois, Clark, & Jimmy in the helicopter panel and GOT IT!!! Also it is so delightfully wacky and funny, I was genuinely laughing out loud. Steve's Lieber's art is the perfect pairing with Matt Fraction's writing.
AND SPEAKING OF!
This isn't DC at all but it's the series that made me (and so many others) really love comics and their storytelling potential. Matt Fraction's Hawkeye run, volumes 1-4. Between his writing and David Aja's artwork and color theory (and Steve Lieber's guest issue that literally gut punched me and changed how I saw later parts of the story, it was never just a filler issue to me, Steve) you get a great story that says so much with so little (in the best way) and is a visual treat as well. Chef's kiss.
Some other non-DC comics I really enjoyed are Die (imagine Jumanji but D&D and novels and oh look the consequence of your actions has grown up), Something is Killing the Children Vol. 1 (I am not a horror girly but I really enjoyed this, in no small part because of Dell'edera's art), Eight Billion Genies (the world population hits 8 billion and now everyone gets a genie, what could go possibly wrong), and Paper Girls which I'm about 2/3 through (picture stranger things but with time travel, spaceships?, and oh shit is future me lying??)
Damn, I guess I really did have a scroll's worth. 😭 Anyway, my recommendation for where to start with this list is...what does your library have available? Don't forget about the Hoopla app too, that's where I read some of these digitally. Or the used bookstore which is where I got 90% of my comics from.
But seriously! Just pick whatever sounds the most fun or has the character(s) you're the most interested in and go from there. Skip around on the timeline or go in chronological order. Whatever floats your boat! I think that's the really unique thing about comics. Plus if you can't figure out the context of what you're missing or what is happening simultaneously (because writers & editorial used to care a little more) you can do a quick google or (and I wish I had this with Batgirl) @cephalog0d has a pinned timeline master list. Incredible.

hey fellas so @boyswillbeboxes and I have been cooking a fun concept for a few days and I thought I'd share it with you along with some Images I doodled. the post we're talking about at first is this one right here but if u don't feel like looking at it tl;dr its kim glaring at jean and being possessive of Harry. synopsis under the readmore! tws for suicide baiting and suicidal actions
rat: THAT FUCKIN COMIC WITH KIM GIVING JEAN THE SIDE EYE I'M SCREAMING
GET HIS ASS KIM
me: DLFJFKFKF IM SO GLAD U SAW ITTTT
rat: I JUST DID
me: thought of u makin that
rat: 😭😭
I'm so honored
God lmao you're right tho
Listen listen if Harry fails the check for the karaoke and Jean is there and doesn't clap for Harry, Kim swears a VENDETTA
That's CANON
He brings it up at the tribunal he's so petty
The second one
He says some really backhanded shit I don't remember the specifics but he's basically like Enemy Sighted
me: he took one look at this man and went "is anyone gonna become harshly overprotective of that" and didn't wait for an answer
rat: NO FOR REAL
IT'S INSANE HOW QUICKLY KIM WOULD DIE FOR HARRY
I LOVE IT I LOVE THEM
me: like in my head it literally is just. jean is minding his business. he doesn't even do anything. and Kim is just glaring daggers at him from across the room. in my head it's a sitcom bit where every time Harry leaves the room with Kim and Jean left Kim threatens Jean's life and as soon as Harry comes back in hes Normal again and jean is like GET YOUR FUCKING DOG BITCH
rat: Nobody ever believes Jean when he says this is happening
"No he's so even-tempered he's really polite maybe you just misinterpreted?"
Or even worse it makes Jean look crazy
me: like jean comes back to his desk and there's his mug which is now filled with dirt and a sticky note that says "bitch"
he looks over at Kim's desk and Kim is staring directly at him with murder in his eyes
and then a couple seconds pass and he looks away like nothing happened and jean is like "oh its ON motherfucker" (it is not on. jean can't hope to fight back against the wrath of kim kitsuragi)
jean fills Kim's coffee with salt? Kim just drinks it all. completely straight face. doesn't flinch once
kim comes over later and is like "thanks for the coffee" even tho jean was SURE no one saw him do that
he goes to fucking pryce about it eventually and he's just like "I don't appreciate you spreading rumors about the newest member of the 41st. he's done exemplary work. far better than you. maybe you need to go through that sensitivity training again?" and he blows his fucking LID over that.
challenges kim to a fucking brawl in the middle of the bullpen and Kim is just like. officer you're embarrassing yourself *eyebrow*
his reputation never recovers. even more of a joke than Dick Mullen now
rat: Kim being so so SO careful never to do this when anyone else is around. But then one day Jean is in the bathroom, and then the door opens, and it's Kim. And Kim just stops. Looks at him. Smirks a little. Then reaches behind himself and locks the door
And Jean feels FEAR
Kim never actually touches him. But it's very clear he's more than capable of following through on his threats.
Getting in his space and grabbing his chin to make sure Jean is Paying Attention
me: jean starts looking over his shoulder on his way home. one time Kim tails him just to fuck with him. jean thinks he loses him but when he gets onto his street kim is standing outside of his building, having his one cigarette
jean is stood frozen. Kim locks eyes with him as he puts out the cig on his boot. walks away
jean i think starts to try and play dirty as well but idk how he'd go about it. he's too... hm. stupid
rat: Yeah yeah yeah for sure like. He tries to "trick" Kim into a fight but Kim is five steps ahead at all times, he never takes the bait
And god help him if he tries to antagonize Harry to get to Kim
That's when Kim gets SERIOUS
That's when Kim finds him in a dark alley outside of work
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grabs a handful of his hair, smashes his face into a brick wall, puts him into a hammerlock hold
Tumblr media
Whispers in his ear if he ever catches him trying that shit again, he's not getting a warning next time
me: I think it'd be hilarious if Jean tried to threaten suicide and it just. doesn't work. I think it'd make sense for him to bait kim like "okay well what if I killed myself and framed YOU for my MURDER" and Kim is like officer don't be dramatic get over yourself please
Tumblr media
rat: Kim just staring at him like "Okay then. Do it. Right now."
Tumblr media
Maybe Kim even hands over his gun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jean trying to turn the tables by pointing it at Kim
Tumblr media
Kim never flinches
"Go ahead. Pull the trigger. Unlike your idiotic plan, I'll be missed. And we both know Harry never stops."
me: I just think that scene in the alley could end up with Harry intuiting whats going on, that an officer is in danger, so he goes to stop it and- hey JEAN IS POINTING A GUN AT KIM??? AND KIM ISNT??? STOPPING HIM????
Tumblr media
rat: HARRY PUTTING HIMSELF IN THE WAY OF THE GUN
Tumblr media
Jean having to reconcile the fact that Harry is no longer his, insofar as he was before
me: after a tense second of not moving. jean actually considering doing it.
rat: GOD Jean being like I could just do it. Shoot him, maybe have time to reload and shoot myself after. That might be the only way to truly Hurt Kim
me: kim catches on to that. and for the first time he IS afraid
hes fine losing himself. but losing Harry? he couldn't bear it. he would sooner die
then. all at once. jean drops it
he can't do it. too much of a coward. "GOD FUCKING DAMN YOU!!" punches the wall etc. definitely crying. meanwhile kim GRABS Harry by the shoulders. he's shaking with fury and also something else. "what the FUCK are you thinking-" and Harry cuts him off with "what are YOU thinking? what the fuck was that? what HAPPENED to you?"
Harry means "you two" but kim feels that in his soul
they leave jean to talk after that. and that conversation is not a pretty one
smth smth "I was trying to protect you" "that was too far" "he went too far first. he was hurting you" "so your solution is to hurt him back?" "he wasn't going to STOP" "then let me deal with it!" etc etc
no idea what jean does from there. maybe he actually fucking thinks and reconsiders things and idk grows as a person
anyway after that we get the dinner from hell
harry invites them to a get-along dinner. christ
GOD. THE TENSEST DINNER EVER. TO RIVAL ANY FAMILY DINNER
im just imagining them trying to throttle each other on top of some takeout
harry is yelling TIMEOUT TIMEOUT
composure failure
rat: Harry like "can't we all just get along??" and Kim and Jean say NO at the same time
me: they both point at each other at the same time and go HE STARTED IT
harry actually passes an authority check and scolds them and they both realize how petty this is and its all very embarrassing and Harry is treating this very seriously. fully goes "do you have anything to say?" and they grumble sorry and he's like "not to me. to *each other*"
rat: He only passed Kim's authority because Kim hates seeing him sad
me: slow look at each other. jean holds out a hand. Kim grabs it so tight you hear joints snap.
they still hate each other so so much but Harry is Determined to make them friends
its like. harry is their get-along shirt
rat: Harry like the power of love and friendship will prevail and Kim tries he really does but every time he sees Jean he hears the Kill Bill sirens in his head
He makes an honest effort to threaten his life less but that's all he can manage
me: I do think this could get resolved eventually tho. like harry being put in some sort of crisis situation where his life is on the line or something
rat: Wouldn't it be funny if the situation was something Harry put himself in though
Like getting himself kidnapped by a gang
Like "wow this will really bring Jean and Kim together! ♡"
Meanwhile he's literally tied to a chair with his face bloody and nose broken
And Jean and Kim HAVE to team up. They can't take on a gang ALONE
Jean pretends not to care but he cares so much it makes him look stupid
If Harry actually dies what the fuck is he supposed to do
me: it works but not in the way he intended cause it actually touches on the heart of the conflict is that Jean wants to blame Harry for everything ever and also he does care so much it makes him look stupid so when they find out it was actually sort of on purpose they BOTH GET MAD AT HIM FOR THE SAME REASON
a horrible, deadly pact is formed. harry is now in grave danger
rat: Harry wanted them to be friends. And now, unfortunately, they are
He's never getting let out of their sight again
me: I like to think eventually they do chill out and become friends about it. like outside of all that. maybe jean finally gets over himself and Kim and Harry have a talk about being posessive- lol I'm just kidding those two are codependent to the fucking grave. but still I think they could end up being civil and the death threats just become banter
the competitive streak never dies tho. constantly trying to one-up each other. functional kismesistude

Ok, so I know the Operator took one look at college Alex and said "oh, this one has so much unexamined trauma and suppressed anger issues, I'm going to eat well," but how do you think things would have gone differently if it had latched onto any of the other members of the production of Marble Hornets (or, well, stayed attached to Tim)?
oh god. man i need like. two blunts, 500mg of caffeine and three days to write about all of this.
tim -he's not an adequate router for the signal. he's too prone to self-isolation and too diligently medicated to be much help when it comes to spreading the sickness. -the only reason it did really spread off him was because he managed to make friends in college. and then clearly he withdrew after that. -because of that i don't think the operator WOULD have stayed with him, because it seems to look for people in states of mild to moderate unrest to infect. people more prone to acting on impulse, people with more ambition, people who are less likely to question their own decisions. tim questions himself a lot.
jay -jay ended up being a half-decent router by the middle of the story. i don't know if he could have been more than that, due to how obvious he was about everything. -he's jittery and jumpy and doesn't know how to stay in his own lane, so he's got that going for him in terms of being a... i dunno, some kind of pathogen carrier? when it comes to social shit, he's the equivalent of someone sick coughing without covering their mouth. -the only thing is, he also does a lot of questioning. more of the people around him than of himself, but he does have a semi-decent sense of self-awareness as well. he wouldn't have been as effective as someone like alex, or adam. he didn't have the confidence to bullshit his way through it. by the end, maybe, he had a degree of conviction, but he was so full of questions that he couldn't have stayed on a consistent path if he'd tried.
brian -that one's a big question, isn't it? because brian was, clearly, the smartest out of all of them. he cottoned on fast. probably had some revelation from the brain damage about the operator and the ark and alex and everything. he was the most effective at keeping himself isolated and not spreading the sickness. -but if he HAD? he's goal-oriented enough. he's smart enough. more than capable of holding to a plan and/or improvising his way towards a goal. he would arguably have been the most formidable sort of carrier for the operator's signal. the only thing that fucks it up is that he KNEW that. and figured out what steps to take to keep himself from being used like that.
jessica -i have to think about this one hard. we don't get to know jessica a whole lot before she's already in the middle of the issue. in the comics, too, we see her personality shift slightly due to illness/injury, somewhat like brian's did. at least, that's how i've interpreted it. -the thing is, she seems to be as asocial as tim was. she didn't strike me originally as the kind of chick to... go out a lot? she isn't forceful, either. the way she holds herself, she's not the most confident, either. -the reason that she ended up being a good relay point for the operator following the elimination of a more offensive threat was because she was scared enough to seek help. fear throughout the entire series (as with 99% of horror) is a powerful motivator, but also a powerful source of cognitive distortion. because of the operator it becomes a virus.
so i couldn't really tell you how things would have gone otherwise, because there really... isn't a good way i can think of. this is the kind of story, to me, that has to have happened the way it did, or it wouldn't be what it is. like i think if brian was the main aggressor, and held alex's belief that the only way to stop the operator was to kill everyone it infected, everyone would be fucking dead lmao.
those are just my thoughts, though. my ideas lay more in analysis than they do in revision or transformation, so i leave most of the main-story-focused aus to more creative people.

I haven't asked you some Jango stuff yet and idk why. But I know you can do him so good because of the many plots/thots/thoughts we've talked about everywhere, so if you can...
Say Jango and Bane got into a real nasty argument which included guns be pointed at each other but ended up walking away to cool off. Who makes the first move? And how will it pan out?
Warning: NSFW. Smut talk.
Oh, good question. This requires me explaining their dynamic a bit as far as ideas for my fic.
Tumblr media
Jango would be Bane’s mentor as was canon. Nothing else is known about them working together or even associating with each other except at some point Bane says “he owed Jango a few favors” regarding Boba, and Hondo mentions in “Secrets of the Bounty Hunters” that he had many adventures with Jango Fett and Cad Bane, among others.
Thinking about their place on the GFFA timeline, they most likely interacted BEFORE Jango created his clone army, and even sometime afterward before the Clone Wars as it was mentioned Boba KNEW who Cad Bane was and desired to work with him on a job in the comics.
To that end, both were near the same age, though if my calculations are correct, Jango is older. Considering how hotheaded Cad Bane is, I assume that in his youth he was even worse.
I see Bane picking fights after one too many drinks, letting the insults fly, and drawing his weapon for no reason other than to intimidate someone. I see others coaxing him to stand down, either verbally or by force, or perhaps Jango has a secret weapon or two up his sleeve that is noted to work nearly every time.
I imagine Bane to be a bit of a brat in this era. Hard to train, hard to control, but also capable of holding his own. Jango saw potential. It may have been he took him under his wing once they worked together, or perhaps they were in direct competition with one another and Fett decided that instead of being enemies, he wanted a partner, or an equal, as what he saw in Bane was the equivalent of the “mentee” being able to one day surpass the “master.”
At this point, Jango didn’t have a son. We know he has that gene, the one that desperately needs and wants to be a father, apparently. He may have used this drive to mentor Cad, but of course there are definitely times they do not get along.
For one thing, I don’t see it working out in the end between them, one of the MANY REASONS BEING THEY ARE TOO MUCH ALIKE.
Both are sort of stoic by nature, have a hot temper, will do anything the job takes, and have few scruples when it comes to what they will or will not do for credits. We might say Jango is more driven by his hatred for the Jedi, but as a Jedi hunter, Bane has inherited some of this disdain.
Anyway, I digress. The point is they are both stubborn. They both rarely talk about their feelings. They both march to the beat of their own drum, and they both are excellent at what they do.
My interpretation of their relationship would dictate Jango being the one to make the first move after having a terrible argument. Maybe Bane wasn’t sure Jango wouldn’t shoot him, and that made him feel things. I’m writing him as being a bit sensitive overall, but also so obstinate he would sulk and keep his head down after being scolded well enough that he decides to mope off by his lonesome. Of course, this is outwardly expressed as anger though deep down he is hurt.
His person yelled at him. Not only that, Jango at this point in time, is a better bounty hunter than Bane, although one day he may surpass him as I mentioned, and technically he does as he goes up against many Jedi and doesn’t get his head cut off. ;D But, in this instance, he may very well be cautious of him. I wouldn’t say afraid, though there are times he feels fear in the moment, but he also holds a kind of love in his heart for the “old man” though it may never be expressed verbally and instead shown through actions.
I imagine Jango would sit alone, contemplate, and sigh. After some time has passed and he’s cooled off, he would go to Bane knowing the boy rather die than come crawling back. Bane would make it a point to avoid him or stay out of his way until he made it clear he wanted to speak to him again, or make up. In the end, Bane didn’t want to fight him. He wanted them to reconcile as much as Jango did.
I see Jango taking the lead, maybe stroking the side of his face with the back of his hand. Maybe he tips his hat up by the edge to better see his eyes. Bane would stay solemn and wait.
“Cad. Look at me.”
And he would. When in the mood, Bane would do anything that Jango asked of him. This is after he’s attached and before their falling out ( >D ).
Maybe Bane nuzzles his cheek into the man’s hand, or shows some other sort of affection once Jango shows him it's all right, either by a look, or by lifting his chin up or some other small gesture. I assume his eyes are full of apprehension and he remains on guard just in case.
Jango says a few words about how he was wrong, or that he’s sorry he got carried away. Bane believes him, though this may have happened many, many times. He’s receptive to whatever Jango offers him – a kiss, a stroke to his wrist, a pat on the belly, or sharing a drink. In the end they probably fuck nasty to make up, and Bane’s the catcher while biting into the pillow at Fett’s mercy. That, or he rides him while Jango watches the way his fangs gnaw into his lip, or the way he stares ruthlessly into his eyes without once breaking eye contact.
“That’s a good boy, you do know how to listen. If only you were always so well behaved.”
Bane definitely bites back what he wants to say as he’s too busy trying not to cum, drunk off Jango’s dick as he drives it home doggy style nice and slow, let's say.
If he did manage a word or two it’s probably: “Fuck off, Fett.”
Most likely Jango just smiles, not bothering to address him any further. He's content to watch, or to run his hand down the length of Bane's back and the curve of his waist as he brings him to a peak.

Don’t be shy post your fanfic red flags to tumblr
I swear y'all want me dead, I'm not scared of the tiktok teens but the tumblr users will kill me over this
when I say red flags, I mean squicks, I mean things in marvel fanfics that tell me the author is more concerned with fanon than they are with the source material which is just something I don't want to read
Mommy friend Natasha— If it's an avengers fic and Natasha is there to sigh and the boys and tell them to talk care of themselves, make the move on the boy, or just mother them I hate it. I need more than one woman in a fic and I need them to pass the Bechdel test and be more than "the one with the brain cell"
damsel in distress Peter Parker— I need a damn good reason Peter doesn't use his super strength or super genius to escape a kidnapping, he's a fucking superhero who can save himself. This isn't to say I don't like Peter Parker whump, but I need some explanation or it seems like he's forgotten he's super human
the Deadpool thought boxes— most fic authors are writing them because they're saw them in another fic not because they're read them in the comics and it fucking shows!
No murder Avengers—Explain to me why your picture of Steve Rogers wouldn't kill a nazi in a heartbeat?? Quickly!
writing out characters of color—self-explanatory. How can you write a post winter soldier fic without Sam Wilson? Where is Ned in your mcu Peter fic? Why did you make Peter Parker act like the mcu version in every way but you made MJ into a white Mary Jane? Why is there always a convenient mission that the characters of color are sent off to deal with?? Y'all are not hiding your bigotry well
"pretty" Wade Wilson—I don't care if it's a no powers au or if you're using an image replicator, keep the scars! The scars are pretty and I don't want to read a fic that disagrees
Super Family—my beef with this trope pre-dates the mcu Spider-Man, this shit infected tasm fandom after the Avengers came out. The civil war being the stony divorce arc and Peter being the traumatized child of said divorce joke was funny. But it was only a joke. I don't care what adult "adopts" Peter, Peter already has a loving home and Aunt May is doing a fantastic job raising him. It's even worse when Peter was adopted young or the bio child of one of the heroes because it completely robs his story of the importance and impact of Aunt May and Uncle Ben. I hate it so fucking much
"world on fire" in daredevil fic— it's a fucking metaphor! It's a good metaphor you can write into a fic, but if you make it literal so that Matt is "seeing" objects but like as fire oh my god no! He has not light response in his eyes, he's moving through the world through sound and touch like blind people do, his powers just grant him a great degree of precision. Y'all can't handle the idea of disabled people as competent capable adults
Any fic that makes a rational cool level headed woman into a raging bitch—we get it you have no friends and have internalized the not like other girls mindset, but don't make it my fucking problem

hi! longtime follower and i enjoy your aa comic and your narumitsu takes on twitter. i was replaying rfta was thinking about the timeline for their relationship and was wondering about like. where they would actually end up together and when exactly phoenix and edgeworth respectively figured out what their feelings for each other were?
first of all thank you!!!
oh man this is suuuch a difficult question for me and one i honestly don't really have a solid answer for. i could see it going a ton of different ways all equally believable which is part of why i am able to get so much mileage out of this ship...
in general though, i think that definitely nothing happens until post-aa3 at the earliest. considering how rarely theyre in the same place and how hectic it is during the events of the trilogy, there just isnt enough time for anything. but i think in terms of processing feelings towards each other bttt i a really big turning point. like i think edgeworth's kneejerk emotional response to thinking phoenix is straight up dead is sort of the first step in helping him realize that he wants phoenix in his life and that's something he should prioritize. in turn i think edgeworth showing up like that and being willing to help phoenix do something crazy is the first thing that really lets phoenix know that maybe his obsession with edgeworth isnt as one sided as he may have thought up until that point, especially considering their uneasy reunion in farewell my turnabout.
i think phoenix has wanted to make out with edgeworth at least since seeing his photo in the newspaper because hes a lunatic with terrible taste in men but i think he sees that as kind of just attraction/a puppy crush and doesnt take it too seriously until he and edgeworth get the chance to start spending time together outside of cases but then almost as soon as that does start happening he is down so obscenely bad. meanwhile i think edgeworth needs to go through several years of therapy before he is even capable of considering romantic or sexual entanglements in the abstract. he doesn't even really know how to have friends yet he's taking things one step at a time. we're going to get through 'having a non-business dinner and not making an excuse to leave halfway through' before anything else. but then once he sort of gets past those barriers he's able to re-asses and settle on okay. hmm. it seems im psychosexually obsessed with my best friend.

hit the episode Tyger Tyger just now (I'm watching BTAS for the first time) and oh??? my god???? why the hell am I gonna have emotions like this over the anthro furry transformation Batman episode??
Dorian had a line about twenty years of work going down the drain. he also says that Tygrus is not his first attempt at a human/animal hybrids?? so even if we assume he meant slightly more than twenty years Tygrus is still probably barely 20 at most. he's like Dick's age. wtf. (I know he probably matured faster than a normal human would cause cat genetics but my god.) he refers to Dorian as his father, Batman assumes he was made in a test tube (and he's probably right) but even so like ???? did he raise him. how fast did he age. does he know how to read. he knows how to talk, what other skills did he learn from his father.
and then there's fucking Garth. who I think we're meant to assume was born human and forcibly altered, like Selina? he wears clothes. why does he get clothes but Tygrus doesn't 😭😭. it's also equally plausible that he was created as a monkey/human hybrid, no cat DNA whatsoever, since it is mentioned Dorian experimented on other primates before his retirement. but he's a lot more human-passing, a lot less feral than how Tygrus and even Selina in her half-cat form behave. who is he. where did he come from. I don't think he ever calls Dorian "father" and his design makes me think that he's closer to middle aged ?? was he just a guy?? why doesn't he grapple with his humanity. how long has he been working for Dorian. was it willingly?? is he just a furry hired goon that was down for whatever as long as he got to be monkey? Where did Batman take him. did he put him in prison. what is the ethical way to punish a half ape man criminal.
And then at the end??? Tygrus hands his father over to Batman bc he figures that Batman will help him?? and also opts to stay on the secluded island with the burning remains of his father's lab??? does he just live out the rest of his life as a wild animal? He's clearly capable of sentient thought. does he resent his humanity? does he resent his creator? Batman says Dorian has to be punished for his genetic crimes- do you think Tygrus sees himself as an affront to nature. does he have internalized furryphobia
jfc. I have so many questions. as far as I can tell from Google he was made for this show and only appeared in one episode and a spin off comic. what the hell. I hate it here.
