you had been forced to be friends with felix and venetia when you were younger, your parents befriending the couple on the next estate.

it was easier for all of your parents if their children could get along.

at first you were resentful of your parents for trying to force two people to be your friends that you didnt even know.

but as soon as you met the catton siblings, your mild hatred towards your parents dissipated,

they quickly became two of your closest friends, if not your closest.

you spent every summer darting back and forth between your estate and theirs, soaking up the sun and each others company.

when the three of you became of age, you started going out into town together, hitting the local pubs every couple of days, switching designated driver every time.

unlucky for felix, it was his turn.

even more unlucky for felix, you and venetia had decided to get absolutely smashed, so getting the both of you safely in the car was a trial in itself.

music played softly through the speakers of the car and you felt the weight of venetia's head against your shoulder.

even with your eyes closed due to the world spinning, you could see felix in the front seat.

you didnt need your eyes open to know how gorgeous he looked sat in the drivers seat, mumbling softly to the words of the song with the wind whipping at his brown locks.

the image brought a soft smile to your lips as you heard the crunch of small rocks under the tyres signalling you were pulling up to your house.

you pulled your eyes open to find felix climbing out of the car and coming around to your side to 'help you out'.

and 'helping you out' meant putting his arms under your knees and around your back to carry you inside and up to your bedroom.

in your intoxicated state you could have sworn you felt him press a kiss onto your forehead after he pulled the blankets over you.

when the sun started blaring through your windows like an alarm clock, you did nothing to get out of bed, only turned onto your side and pulled the covers over your head in hopes of ignoring the fact that a new day had started.

when you actually decided to get out of bed, it was only to grab some water, shut the curtains and find some advil in your bathroom.

after that was all done, you crawled straight back into bed, risking taking a look at your phone to see the time.

along with a few texts from both venetia and felix.

you dropped your phone down onto the bed, ignoring them in favour of sleeping off your hangover.

and when you opened your eyes again it was pitch black.

and you may have slept off your hangover but you also slept all day.

shit.

you move to pick up your phone to see a flood of texts from felix asking why you hadn't come over today or why he hadn't seen you.

after a quick glance at the time you theorised he might be awake, but the rest of his house wouldn't be.

after sliding on a pair of leggings and a sweater you left your house, crossing over onto saltburn with every intention of simply seeing felix.

the front door was locked.

understandably.

and you had left your phone on your bed in your rush out.

fuck.

you rounded the house to the space below felix's window, completed with vine covered trellises outside his window.

at this late hour, it seemed like your only option besides waiting for the morning, and you liked your chances at climbing.

so that's exactly what you did.

you climbed up the back wall of saltburn, clutching onto the wooden trellis with one hand while the other knocked on his window.

thankfully, he was actually awake.

you spotted him crossing the room in some comfy clothes after dropping a book down onto the bed.

he didnt question why you had been climbing up the back of his house, or why you had no shoes on, just helped you into his room and laid back on his bed, opening his arm up for you.

" where've you been all day, lovey ? " he questioned, his arm wrapping around you and his hand moving to take your hair away from your face.

" hungover . " was your simple answer as you nestled your head into the crook of his neck.

it was safe to say that you had another incident of sleeping all through the next day, even if it was a lot more comfortable snuggled up to felix's chest.

Do you think any of the PAW Patrol members are on the spectrum? Because I HC Ryder and Rocky as both being Autistic (it's why Rocky hates water and Ryder hates brussel sprouts, bad sensory experience)

Particularly I think the brussel sprouts thing might be more of a combo of sensory and taste, if it was only sensory, Ryder would hate a bunch of vegetables altogether. What would tell me Ryder is autistic is mostly how his knowledge on engineering for his age is just-- Miles Tails Prower level of spawning new buildings and vehicles overnight. It's canon he's the one projecting, building and maintaining all their vehicles, we see him doing maintenance on his ATV pretty regularly and he taught the pups to inspect their own vehicles and do basic maintenance as well. Not to mention he projected, programmed (and regrogrammed several times) and built the Robo-dog from scratch. That implies he not only knows engineering but also has plenty knowledge in the field of Artificial Intelligence! And he's TEN.

But for Rocky I agree! It could very well be an autistic trait. He's also extra passionate about his stuff and both his creativity and ability to learn things of his interest are off the charts. I also picture him into the ADHD part of the thing, mostly on the HD part of it. He's one of the pups we get to see doing things on their own sometimes, outside of missions. Tbh Rocky only stops moving when he sleeps, and maybe not even then XD

Personally, I headcanon Ryder, Chase, Rocky and Zuma as autistic to some degree each in different ways. As for Marshall, my headcanon on him has nothing to do with any spectrum but with genetic health. Skye, Rubble, Everest, Tracker, Rex and Liberty (the other pups I know so far), I don't have anything on them.

With Ryder and Rocky explained already, let's go to Chase and Zuma, under the cut, post's getting long again, omg.

Chase would be this one "kind" of autistic person I've met at least a couple autistic kids like him before: They get one subject to hyperfocus on and it LASTS LONG, they just don't change interests. They might go and also focus on something that's very alike to the main subject too, but they won't switch their focus target. They're also extremely perfectionists, very hard on themselves, failure when working on something is NOT an option.

Chase is pretty much like that. We know he's intensely passionate about his job as their Police and Spy pup, he follows the rules, he enforces the rules, he does all he can to make sure the task will be complete and always gets extremely upset and/or worried with the possibility of failing or disappointing Ryder (or anyone else for that matter, but it's to a personal level when it's with Ryder), to the point it makes him lose his ground, driving him into anxiety and panic attacks on the most extreme cases.

As for Zuma, I think he's one of those cases in which the person also has this hyperfocus on something and sticks with it, but to him it's less intense than Chase, I mean, to be a cop you gotta study and learn a lot of stuff. Zuma's case is that one that looks more like a very intense hobby. Getting his natural passion for water as a Labrador Retriever and adding it to a greater level of interest on water related stuff, Zuma just put together the fun and the usefulness in his life. So, not only Zuma does the aquatic rescues for the Patrol out of convenience on being the pup whose breed actually doesn't mind getting wet, he also has fun and enjoys it all.

"But that's expected from a Labrador, isn't it?" you ask me. Well, I raise you the fact that Labradors are also usually extremely hyperactive dogs, but then we have Zuma who's... Totally chill. He's there in his spot, content, just enjoying himself. He's not constantly running or jumping around unless prompted to do so, he's playful but only when the others go out to play as well. Otherwise, he's just there, just vibing. Zuma is literally that pup who's there in his corner, vibing, minding his business, until someone else interacts with him or invites him to go do something.

He's literally the chill dude who will go out to surf on his own because he enjoys it and doesn't feel the need to interact with others unless necessary - doesn't mean he's rude, it only means he's vibing his own vibes and will gladly interact if prompted to do so, but doesn't usually takes the initiative because he's already happy in his world.

JUST A REMINDER, IT'S ALL MY PERSONAL TAKE on watching these characters and thinking way too much about their behaviors outside of missions and the vibes I get from them. Mind you, I might be autistic myself but I'm not diagnosed and most I know about it comes from research I've done years ago up to nowadays, the first time being when I wanted to create an autistic OC and didn't know much about it and didn't want to get it wrong to not be attacked over it.

timeline of Peter Parker's Spider-Man suits for my AU

You can see the original versions of some of these designs (here) but this post is now of course the most up-to-date version (though I did trace parts of the original so I didn't have to do too much extra re-drawing, which is why parts of it look wonky 😅(cough cough teen peter))

First up is Peter's early costumes:

Peter's Very First Costume before he was technically Spider-Man. Now, is it stupid to have the name of your high school emblazoned across your back? Probably. But he only wears this for like... a month, month and a half. Extremely classic DIY shit, scrim eyes, no lenses, stolen tracksuit (no he's not evil in this au he's just a little monster) etc. This is what he's first using his Mk.I web shooters with before replacing them because they suck.

NOTE: TECHNICALLY WRONG: things are constantly shifting. not sure about web-shooters but this tracksuit technically isn't his costume for wrestling, it goes OVER his costume for wrestling, which is just a high-rise singlet over tights + the mask. but when he's not on the mat he's wearing the tracksuit to cover himself.

The shades of colors on this tracksuit match the shades on Flash's letter jacket btw. (posted here)

Some running shoes he probably got at Payless—IDK if those exact shoes I was drawing were actually cheap but they look close enough to a pair I could sort of see on Payless' website in the wayback machine for 2003 so it's good enough for me XD

can see a peek of peter's glove there lol. probably should have drawn him wearing them but he probably takes them off when he wrestles anyway.

And this is Peter's FIRST REAL Spider-Man costume which also uses his Mk.II web shooters (the ones that use a combo pulley-and-lever system) which he probably wears for the first time... the night his uncle dies. It's still very hand-made and the logo is screenprinted which means it is going to start cracking pretty quickly... multiple pieces much like 616... I mean this is basically the 616 costume. No face shell or anything so mouth and nose are kind of visible (and ears...) and it's basically standard lycra... not sports fabric or anything just basically thick-ass tights.

Still using scrim in the eyes but now with plastic lenses. Probably not ballistics grade though so... lol.

he repurposes the sneaker soles from his pre-spidey suit into his new boots, probably just sewn right on (or glued maybe) and he just... wears shoes that are too big so he can fit them in (either that or keeps them in his bag and only puts them on when he changes out of his regular clothes, which is feasible for a guy with a 10 second quick-change time) (I guess he could also wear boot covers made out of the original sneakers that make them look like regular shoes 🤔) (arguably the funniest option)

changed my mind he just has separate boots and puts them on since most solutions require him taking his shoes off anyway and he has that super reflex stuff lol

I haven't really posted much/any fics where Peter's at this age, except "I like our second first kiss better" (though he's not really shown in the suit in the snippets of that) though maybe I'll mention a flashback of him in high school. Oh I guess he was wearing this suit briefly in "These are not the clothes [...]" since that shows him getting the symbiote after fighting Ock.

this is of course the symbiote suit which Peter acquires in "These are not the clothes I had on when I went to bed" and keeps until "Last week [...]" So... 17-18 years old... (rather almost-18 to almost-19 years old as he gets it in the summer before college and loses it the summer between freshman and sophomore year of college)

it's more of a leather look than a latex look (esp compared to peter's black and white ff suit 10 years later) vs. Patricia's being more glossy

This stayed largely unchanged compared to the original version of these costumes I did.

and obv since it's a symbiote it's expressive, in contrast to peter's other suits which all have either fixed lenses or in the case of the diy suit is just fabric lol

not much to say here. sporty symbiote shoes.

This is the suit he makes at 18 during the summer between freshman and sophomore year of college, which I only briefly mentioned in "Last week I started over again" and prob should have maybe mentioned a little more in detail XD

Without the symbiote and being several inches taller than he was at 17 (not to mention more uh... full-bodied) obviously he couldn't just wear his high school spidey suit so he had to make a new one, and this is it. Bonuses are that he's more experienced sewing, used a nice breathable (and textured matte finish) poly-spandex sports blend for all of his spandex (instead of dance lycra) so it's breathable, added under-arm mesh (i stumbled upon that by happenstance and thought it suited this look very well) and used a mix of embroidery and heat-transfer vinyl to decorate his suit. Also perforated vinyl inside his polycarbonate lenses.

I think the back spider is just some high quality spandex sewn onto the other spandex blends, but the chest spider is def heat transfer vinyl.

which means it may or may not melt if he goes into a burning building, now that i think about it...

The plan for this navy and crimson suit is for it to be his standard suit for most of his 20s.

The boots are pretty simple here... They ARE boots though they're a little slimmer than most regular boots and the soles are removable through the magic of Rare Earth Magnets and possibly also his own sticking power and also I decided that he can stick through a few inches of material so I can justify his use of shoe soles but also tbh it makes sense even for regular barefoot wallcrawling to prevent him from just... peeling paint off walls and to not be totally fucked if it's a little rainy or dusty.

really i just like the way sporty spider-men with sporty soles look.

Not sure what the boot fabric is, I wrote "not spandex" but it could be like, lined or something. It's Something.

I didn't write this on the drawing but it's in my notes, the soles are dual-density with a polyurethane (PU) outer and an expanded thermoplastic polyurethan (ETPU) inner for durability, lightweight, good support and cushioning, etc. He doesn't have them like, in BULK but he has at least half a dozen replacement pairs of shoe soles for when they wear out.

Also didn't realize this when I was choosing materials but apparently PU is a thermoset which means it won't melt (only soften or burn) once it's set in shape which is super cool. TPU is a thermoplastic though, so it can remelt, but I'm not sure how ETPU would respond to high heat or flame since as an expanded foam it IS full of air bubbles (aka insulation) (then again, even FR treated foam insulation is usually considered a fire hazard...) —Well either way, I'm less worried about his shoes melting than I am about the rest of his suit (also the soles are removable so he can take them off if he needs to)

So basically, overall, This suit is NOT fireproof. Though polyester has a pretty high ignition and melting point (and polycarb is also pretty tough) it's not fire resistant or safe for fires because once you reach high enough temps it melts, so it's more likely to burn you more severely compared to natural fibers like cotton or silk. As you will see further down, Peter learns this the hard way in 2009.

some material swatches just for vibes and a diagram which is mostly for my own benefit, when I was figuring out how to draw those God Forsaken webs. I think I figured out a way that works well for me though.

the fabric is mostly matte and semi-matte cause I find glossy or satin-finished untextured spandex to look kind of... cheap... (which is why i'm not a big fan of the TASM2 movie suit, even though I love the lenses) (i prefer TASM2 lenses and TASM1 suit even though peter's head looks like a basketball in the first movie) (also the crotch is so low,)

Anyway, Peter's mask is padded with a thin layer of foam as a compromise with the fact that most irl cosplayers use rigid face shells to get the silhouette right lmao but I don't want him to have a hard shell under his mask cause... spider-man kisses... LMAO

also just realized giving him underarm mesh for breathability could be considered an homage to the armpit webs... (which, obviously, are not present on these designs... because they are ugly.) that was not on purpose though.

Numbah Two

it's only... two... well two and a half cause of the way this worked out XD Actually it was only ONE before but I was like, fuck it, idk what his first electro fight will even be and electro hasn't shown up at all but i'll toss in an electro-proof suit, too, why not.

First I wanted to mention his updated default duds though.

He's been using the same pattern as the one he drafted in mid 2006 for the blue and red for a few years at this point, so if it's damaged he just... makes a new one... has soles (and probably lenses tbh) that he bought probably half a dozen identical pairs of, etc. The life of sports fabrics, after all, is only a couple of years before it starts to lose shape (and also it keeps getting shredded) so. Replacements. and you know he shreds those shoes to bits. He's gonna be so good at sewing lol

But in early 2009, well, he does something dumb—which is, he runs into a burning building wearing head-to-toe polyester. It's not fire-resistant, def not certified FR, and in fact, this is partly due to the fact that it's PTFE (Teflon) treated to be non-stick and those two treatments typically don't play nice together. (Teflon itself is pretty heat resistant but from my googling it sounds like Teflon fabric treatment does not render fabric heat resistant, which i guess makes sense, like, it's still gonna melt in there...)

So he runs into a burning building, ends up with something actively-on-fire falling onto him, and while it's not like, heavy or anything, it is direct heat and flame upwards of 900 degrees, well above the melting point of polyester and above the ignition point as well, so... he ends up with a third degree burn on his leg and many smaller first and second degree burns on the rest of his body from sparks melting tiny spots through his suit (as well as the vinyl heat transfer on his chest—the melting point of vinyl is only 200F, so even if he stays ground level (which he has to, because otherwise his polycarb lenses will hit their glass transition temperature (aka start to soften), and he knows this) it will likely be very hot or near melting directly against his chest (well, he has power mesh lining but that's really not enough to protect him from melting plastic)

So.

When Peter remakes his suit in early 2009 after getting burned, he does it with some more... advanced materials. (expensive ones, RIP, maybe he stole them) (or, you know, maybe johnny hooks him up)

Still using polycarb lenses, cause they are still the most durable and heat-resistant eyewear protection you can get from what I can find online. AFAIK things like polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and polysulfone aren't really used for eyewear, and a lot of really heat resistant plastic is naturally opaque (or amber in the case of polysulfone) (and much more expensive) or has other significant drawbacks so, he can't just make Teflon lenses or whatever lmao.

BUT

he makes a spare mask with aluminized lenses instead of his perforated vinyl sandwich ones so he can have an Extra heat resistant mask in case of emergencies

looks pretty slick if you ask me

As far as fabric goes, he switches to aramid fibers, which are more expensive but like... More durable than polyester spandex sports blends, more fire resistant, etc. and he knows Johnny Storm (like... budding friendship at this point) so Johnny can also probably hook him up with shit like racing gear, nomex hoods and the like.

I am considering Polartec's Power Stretch FR for later on but that was literally introduced in 2009 so Peter's def not using that yet, but afaict it's a rayon/modacrylic/aramid/spandex blend so I think Peter probably can find something that via like, Nomex/spandex blends and stuff, and Nomex itself has been around for a while.

also decided he switches to sewing the front spider on as well as the back spider.

next suit is Spidey Formalwear

Peter makes this—well he makes the mask and gloves—to wear to Johnny's wedding when they are still both in their early 20s in 2010.

This isn't exactly the same as what happened w/ Lyja in the comics but Johnny's not in a very good place atm

Peter can tell something's wrong but he can't figure out what it is (and neither can anyone else) It won't take long for Johnny to get a divorce though.

Anyway Peter's approach to formalwear as a weird 22 year old def falls under "if it's shiny, that makes it fancy" LMAO — i just thought it would be nice to take it a step further than tossing a tux on top of his regular suit, like, sure the stretch satin he got wasn't exactly expensive but he made the effort for his friend's wedding. He cares.

So in 2013 Peter makes an electro-proof suit 👀

I put what some might consider an "unreasonable" amount of thought into this suit and indeed it's been driving me nuts for like three days trying to figure it out... but I finally figured it out.

it's a wetsuit. (actually, it's not, it's handmade, BUT it is a wetsuit pattern and materials, mainly double-layered neoprene rubber laminated with heat resistant fabrics)

That wasn't what was driving me nuts.

What was driving me nuts was the fact that I was trying to figure out how to get a conductive layer on top of it that didn't look like shit and wouldn't destroy my hand to draw.

Why? Well, it turns out that linemen working on power lines often wear conductive (so, ugly silvery gray) clothing to act as a kind of Faraday cage to protect them from arc flashes and other stray electrical outputs, in addition to usually insulated gloves and boots.

And I thought... I want to do that.

And then I spent a lot of time trying to make it work in a way that wasn't ugly and I was like, oh wow, they make conductive metal screen printing ink? and then i was like, oh never mind this shit is $200 for 100mL MINIMUM and while peter has a real job, spending hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars on nanoparticle ink is completely out of the question, friendship with the f4 aside (that would have been the easy way out XD) (i mean, they still might be helping him out w/ the neoprene hookup etc)

(at least the safety glasses are relatively inexpensive.... >things peter says to himself at 1 am while blind-stitching panels of neoprene together)

so i was like, ugh, maybe stainless steel thread? but it was just ugly.

BUT THEN

I REALIZED

Peter can just make his own conductive colloidal silver (and copper, and carbon black) screen printing ink at home and it will be the correct kind to print on synthetics (plastisol, instead of aqueous) and cost him like. $50. a FRACTION of the price. granted, i didn't factor in the cost of stretch additives etc but it's still significantly cheaper and Peter with a BS in engineering absolutely has the knowledge and equipment to do that in like. his kitchen. so that solved my problem and I solved the ugly dilemma by just having him use three different kinds of conductor for the different colors.

Now, is this a realistic and practical way to make a Faraday suit? I SINCERELY doubt it.

But it's fine. comic books. now he's got a fully insulated base layer with a semi-conductive top layer to guide electricity across the surface (rather than scorching it) (but it IS fire resistant neoprene) and more importantly it looks cool.

(i'm sure that was expensive too but a bunch of neoprene is probably still cheaper in the long run than buying a quarter gallon's worth of conductive ink (several thousand dollars in total) so it feels more justifiable to me that he could save up some side money to custom order nomex laminated rubber)

so basically, tldr it's an insulated faraday suit that also happens to be (mostly) identical to your average double-lined wetsuit.

Here's his shoes. They're grounded (which i think is mostly for anti-static purposes irl but i figured it would fit here well, like, oh the screen printed conductive dots guide the electricity over the aramid surface and to the grounding strip) and the soles are vulcanized rubber like his lens frames.

aaaand johnny gave him some expensive sweat wicking fire resistant racecar driving underwear to wear under there since it's sweaty and i kept seeing websites about linemen's protective gear mentioning FR base layers

it just so also happens to feature several EXTREMELY prominent Adidas logos (this is real btw you can google "Adidas Climacool Nomex racing underwear" and they existed in 2013 which i know because being unreasonable as i am i used the wayback machine to look at a racing supply website to double check because I REALLY wanted him to use the adidas one specifically because of the Climacool part on account of the fact that he is encased in several millimeters of completely non-porous rubber and he IS going to sweat like a pig in there especially in the middle of summer)

(also because i think it's funny to cover him in adidas logos)

oh he also makes a set of Mk. III-E (for electro) web shooters that are double-insulated with a new formula of non-conductive, anti-static webbing (his normal webbing is extremely the opposite of both of those things) (and very flammable) so that Electro can't shock him through his web shooters.

What is the best fast food chain that exists where you live? So nothing international (although an international chain that's where you live can count) and nothing super small (like a restaurant with 3 locations in the whole world)!

Okay so, I’ll just go with my gut on these answers XD

One place round here that ain’t in many places is called Runza! My partner never heard of it when first moving in with us, and I never heard of it before moving here almost 10 years ago haha.

They have burgers n fries n onion rings the usual shit but also these sandwiches called runzas, which are similar to the German food bierocks, that are bread filled with beef, cabbage, onion, and optionally cheese, tho there’s variations on the menu with mushrooms or jalapeños n stuff.

I personally always get a cheese runza with onion rings and a side of bbq sauce, I feel it really goes well all together :3 also the food I get there usually is very hot, it feels fresher in that way!

Also for some reason people round here love chili and cinnamon rolls as a certified combo™️ and not only do I hate chili (only on chili dogs do I like it), but also it personally is not a combo I think I’d enjoy but whatever x3

Other places I can think of I enjoy that aren’t in every place I lived as a kid is Culver’s, and Sickies Garage (not really fast food but I love it enough).

Culver’s has burgers n the usual shit but has really good fried cheese curds as well as really tasty ice cream :3 Sickies has super amazing burgers and they’re very unique too, I occasionally get this one breakfast burger made with a doughnut as the buns but it’s very heavy on my stomach so it’s a treat for me hehe

Also honourable mention to Eegee’s I don’t live where it is anymore and haven’t for a long time but when I was able to eat this place it was like. Oughhh. Super yummy sandwiches and especially slushies that would stay cold so easy, had flavours of the month and overall was such a great place to eat x3

I LOVE IT TOO 😭😭, first I really like stories where people mention more of fae stuff with Hyrule (cuz he's a fairy) but Wild ???? I really really really like it! And I love how Twilight and Legend are forced to spend time together cuz those two won't let them go, and also that fight they had (? Kinda fight?) It was so interesting how easy it got resolved (Legend just picked the opal up and said mine and that was it) it's funny how shiny objects really makes them fight so easy and then it's like they never fought! Ok, right?? WE NEED MORE FAIRY HYRULE STORIES!!! I’ve read all the ones I can find. Hyrule is, thankfully, part fairy in Linked Moments, but STILL.

I love the idea that Wild is just a little…weird after the shrine. So if you haven’t read the chapter today you won’t have seen the end note that mid-month I’ll do another, slightly longer story about eldritch Wild! Essentially Fae Touched became inspiration to push Wild a bit further and really lean in to that vibe. Fae Touched was a fun way to have Hyrule and Wild be a duo, while tossing Twilight and Legend together. The four of them are my favorites, so I like exploring them as combos.

Fae Touched doesn’t touch on what the rest of the Chain thinks, but the Eldritch one will go through each member!

The Chain gets Hyrule’s fae-ness; he’s fairly open about it up front to the group. He doesn’t always remember to explain the “rules”, but they’ve figured it out through trial and error. Wild is a bit of a mystery to everyone because he’s clearly not fae and he only follows the same rules as Hyrule 75% of the time, and makes up his own for the other 25%. Things make sense to Wild, but probably not to the others.

He’s got Twi and Ledge though, so the group as a whole tends to leave them to their own pod for the most part.

As for the opal; Hyrule and Wild were at a stand off because neither wanted to give in, but neither really wanted to hurt each other. It was more threat display to see if they could scare each other off. Legend provided a handy third option of removing the object, allowing them to resolve it without either person giving in. After that they’re pretty quickly back to normal! Legend and Twi are used to it; it’s why when they give the boys things there tends to be something for both of them. Easier to keep it equal!

Cooking Mama 3 Review: Phew, I am finally going to write this one, huh ^^ So, when I first started the game, I didn't like it very much. It felt more mini gamey and the blow mini games were so hard that I barely could finish them. Later I noticed that I was developing a cold and my lungs probably just didn't have any strength... Anyway, I played it a bit more and my verdict is the following: Yes, the game is indeed more mini gamey. Cooking Mama 2 also had some more mini gamey recipes, but most of the time it was played straight. Cooking Mama 1 was the most straight though, there was not a single step that didn't feel like cooking. Now, making the games a litte bit more video gamey makes the game more fun to play, I suppose, but it also makes me lose immersion. I just don't feel like I am cooking when someone messes with me and puts the bowl somewhere else every few seconds or when my character is practically dancing with the lasagna to the table and I have to make sure it won't fall or when the marshmallows have to be tossed on the plate or if the skewers are circling around and have to be put into the right position on time. After a while, I didn't mind anymore though. It was fun to play and that counted and the recipes are still going by a step by step guide so that you feel like you are actually cooking, mini games aside. The recipe roster was pretty good. We had sweets, savoury food, western and eastern cooking. Some recipes returned from Cooking Mama 2, but they were never the same steps. There was also the mode of cooking for your friends again, aka as cooking a recipe without getting the steps explained and without being allowed to fail, but this time you could chose who to cook for and just cook every dish for them. They shared medals. Then there was the combo mode where you could unlock new recipes by combining two ingredients, for example rice and meat or vegetables and seafood. It added quite a few recipes, but they felt a bit samey because for example, in rice, you would always start with washing the rice and stuff. The last mode was "Shopping with Mama". A Pacman esque mini game where you have to buy what Mama wants. I tried it out but got annoyed quickly because you bump into another customers all the time and they start really annoying and not fun minigames and if you fail them, you lose a heart. I only tried two levels and then decided that it isn't for me. Graphics and music were okay. The recipes kept their hand-drawn style and looked fantastic. Mama got a little bit more active in the top screen, often reacting with a thumbs up if you succeeded or a worried face if you failed. In the version where you cooked for your friends, she donned a cheerleader outfit. She also talked German this time... and while this was clearly a real german voice actress, it sounded like she had no clue what she was voice acting for and so Mama sounded more confused than anything else. She also kinded sounded bavarian to me xD You can dress Mama up and customize your kitchen and that is fun. Everything had to be pink in my kitchen (or red if pink was not available) and it was funny to put Mama into a cocktail dress or a kimono or let her wear cat ears. A school uniform was one of the options too... You also could keep your favourite scores in diaries and decorate them with stickers that you earned by doing the recipes fast. I kept the ones that I thought looked the most tasty, but never decorated them. This time I didn't feel like gold medalling every recipe, because I wanted to move on to the next game, but I might come back and do it in the future.

I thought the game was trying to reassure us actually xD In a manner like, "We know we've stated multiple times that Malenia is undefeated. But worry not. You'll be fighting a half-dead version of her! She's defeatable!"

I guess there's always room to argue how intentional the blooms are since it's vague enough. Though, my opinion is… hmm.. Regardless of whether Malenia actively chooses to bloom, I think significant feelings of despair will inevitably be present. Because it's only natural to despair on the brink of death, no? Unless she has zero survival instincts. And it's not as if she can find closure like Millicent. During the first bloom, she fights with purpose. During the second, she's not expecting a fight. In both cases, whyever would she instinctually willingly go down just because she's "not supposed to win"? Anyone else in her position would be resigned to carrying their resentments to the grave. But that doesn't happen for her since she harbours a parasitic time bomb which exploits the human condition. These are my current messy thoughts anyway. But I don't particularly care if she bloomed on purpose.

Maybe Malenia's combo of difficulty + novelty needs time for evaluating or adjusting to. Maybe that's why more people are coming round to her now. She's like an acquired taste in a way? Which also means some people just hold feelings of aversion towards her.

Oh you’re right though it could well be the game trying to reassure us I was mostly joking lol. What Gideon says about her being in the Haligtree, but potentially being dead would give us indication that she may not be in a good state when we get there. Also speaking of Gideon I always find it interesting how he never seems to elaborate much on her. There’s an option to ask about the others but not her or Mohg or Miquella. Mohg I get cause no one knows he’s the Lord of Blood. But I still think it’s funny how the All-Knowing knows nothing about the Haligtree or the twins. And then when we tell him about Miquella he’s like “maybe we should kill him because I do not want to be around if he wakes up”

I agree with what you say about the bloom. Despair seems to be a key factor according to Gowry and while I tend to take a lot of what he says with a grain of salt, he does seem to be on to something there. It certainly seems to be the case with Millicent given the two outcomes of her questline. I don’t doubt it would be the same for Malenia as well. During her fight with Radahn she was physically and mentally exhausted by the end, making it harder to fight off the rot, which we know takes a lot of willpower on her part. Then there’s the possibility of her failing to win the war. You put all that into perspective and it’s easy to see why she acted out of desperation like that. That feeling of despair is bound to set in. This is all just my speculation though as I know it’s a very controversial topic at this point. It’s hard to discuss these things at times as there’s so many people who think the war was over nothing and Malenia just threw a tantrum because she couldn’t beat the Big Man and she just wanted to maintain her undefeated status. It’s so funny I swear, if she didn’t have that line about never knowing defeat people wouldn’t be so upset over this.

Yeah this is something that’s always confused me with this fandom. Because I am genuinely curious as to how people think Malenia should have responded in either situations. People seem to think she should have let both Radahn and the tarnished win simply because it would have been easier for both us and him, instead of using everything at her disposal to try and take us both out. They act like she should have just lay down and died. I mean god forbid Malenia fights with everything she has. This is like that argument I saw a while ago that was like “why does Malenia attack us on site?” I mean are people really mad at that?? We break into her home and stand in front of her armed to the teeth looking for a fight. It’s hardly surprising she wants to kill us lmao. The amount of bosses that do the same thing and yet no one ever complains when Godfrey opens his fight by launching at us in a similar way.

Happy STS to you too, Dreams ^^ I come bearing the promised ramble!I checked the word count for the lore part of the ramble, and it’s over 1,800 words XD I knew it was going to be a long one, but this entire post is as long as a chapter of The Shackles of Time.

 I'll start with the update ^^ It's going under the readmore with the ramblings though because it turned into a ramble in of itself XD (I think it's almost as long as the lore ramble....) But! I think it's a ramble you'll enjoy since I've been having thoughts about your favorite projects now that I've got a little bit of breathing room from the Anniversary specials.

I'm wrapping up the last of the celebration posts. It's taking me a little longer than I wanted, but I just have one left to go and then I can get back to my other projects. I just noticed that I only have enough The Shackles of Time chapters scheduled to get through October's bonus chapters, so I will be buckling down and hitting it hard until I have enough to get through January.

I'll have to do quite a bit of writing on it, though, since December is also going to have 2 extra posts and I'm going to be releasing an extra chapter on January 1st to celebrate new years as well. So, that's 8 chapters I need to write, or at least rewrite, and then schedule before I'll feel comfortable enough to get back to work on Forgotten Gods' second draft.

That being said, Firewalker has been chewing on my brainstem for attention recently, so I may begin prepping the rewrite notes for it's second draft. I just really miss Thistle and Valerian and the birds and the utter chaos that is their lives and disaster of a friendship XD

I'm also still thinking of drawing the casts of all of my WIPs and doing proper character introductions for everyone. But that's going to be a very ambitious project that I'm not going to touch until I recover from the 1- year Shackles of Time Anniversary celebration. I've loved every second of setting up for it, but it has also been a bit draining on the creative batteries.

I've also been playing with ideas for what I want to do with The Forgotten Gods' world once I'm done with the current story. It's left off on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I could try to build up a plot for a sequel and keep playing with our favorite trio of social disasters and their Gods. I even have an idea of where to start building the plot points because of the motives of said Gods. There's also some new developments that happened towards the end of the story that I'd love to explore more, and plenty that I think can be done around the old, misty forest.

But, a certain enabler's questions (*coughs* you *coughs*) has got me thinking about my original concept for that world again. All of the weirdness of the Gods clashing and messing with mortals that isn't as show-cased as I wanted.... But I got to thinking on it. There's hundreds of Gods in that fictional world, and thousands upon thousands of unlucky mortals who are forced to deal with said gods. And I may have thought of an MC and God combo that is a match made by chaos, is 100% problematic for both parties but it's too late now, and while it's only a vague concept it already promises to be fun to play with. If it works out the way it is in my head, it will be a lighter, more chaotic, more swearing involved story than the original, but it would still be very much in The Forgotten Gods' world.

So I'm not sure which option I'm going to go with. Eventually I'll probably end up pursuing both, it's just a matter of picking which route sounds like more interesting. Though, even if I did know which one I liked the sounds of, which one interests me more might change by the time I get there. So I'm not pushing myself to make the choice now. I'm just letting my mind play with possibilities.

And before I get to that, I have The Dark Princess of Aconitum to consider. I think I have everything in place for book one of the trilogy, except the names of course, though it's going to be a beast of a project to actually sit down and write. The details are going to be the key with making it work and the foreshadowing is going to have to be on point but subtle. Luckily, I'll have several drafts to get it all ironed out ^^ I'm not sure if it's going to be the kind of project I can set down and work on other things between books or if it's going to be one of those that I can't stop until the series is done, though. As complex as it is, pausing it could muddy it in my mind and this isn't the kind of story I can afford to let get messy. And that's part of why I want to clear my plate a bit before I get started on it to give me the room to work primarily on it and Shackles of Time side by side.

The dragon/warrior woman idea has not entirely faded, it's just quieted down, so I think it just needs more time to simmer and decide what kind of story it wants to be before it decides when it wants to be worked on, and that's okay. As you've probably noticed from the rest of this ramble, I've got a lot going on ^^;

Okay, I thought the update section was going to be shorter than it turned out to be, but apparently I’ve been thinking more than I thought I have. ^^; So onto your real question -

Each God of Forgotten Gods has a different form. Some of them are more humanoid than others. Some look absolutely monstrous. And some are just plain weird. Their appearances are as varied as the Gods themselves.

Here's three examples from the gods I built for the story -

Corona looks a lot like a human woman with very dark skin, long black hair, and wings. She is constantly surrounded by an aura of light so bright, however, that it would be very hard to actually see her without going blind. She is a power sun goddess, after all, and you can not look at the sun.

Eternity is kinda humanoid. He's blue skinned, abnormally tall and slender, with sharp claws and horns and glowing purple eyes.

Cordial is... less humanoid. He has a deer head, fur, antlers and is a towering height compared to even Eternity.

 These appearances are subject to change, however. I haven’t worked out all of the details of this aspect as it never really comes into play, but I imagine that as a God gains more followers their appearance evolves, like how Corona has an aura of light, though her temples depict how she’d appear without it. The depiction likely came from priests/priestesses she gave visions to before she gained her aura. I also imagine that as Eternity regains his foothold in mortality, aspects of his appearance will change as well. Though I’m not sure if that will come into play in later books or not, but it definitely didn’t in Forgotten Gods.

 Which makes sense since Silver is basically his one and only follower, which kinda makes her the default high priestess and head of his religion, but she’s extremely anti-social and rarely speaks of either of her Gods. And since she’s the only one, he doesn’t really have the strength to do anything on his own. Soooo, he’s not getting many new followers anytime soon XD

 And I suppose that dove-tails nicely into ‘ They can't really interact with the world other than through the champions, right? ‘

 They can! They’re Gods, they can do whatever they like, for better or worse, often worse. They can send random people visions, talk in certain people’s minds, mess up your dreams, summon monsters, pull new animals out of thin air and release them into the ecosystem, reshape the landscape on a whim, paint the trees different colors, change the weather, among lots of other weird stuff. I’m sure some poor farmer woke up one morning to find an entire mountain range where their crops had been last night thanks to a God’s whims. That’s part of why what God is in control of a region is so important to the people there.

 However, Gods are beings of pure divine energy, so they can’t come into the mortal realm themselves. If they try, terrible things happen to the world as mortals cannot touch the divine without great harm. It tears their bodies apart, and it also messes with the environment and world in general. One evil god tried it once, but all of of the other Gods dog-piled him and then set about cutting him off from the mortal realm to protect themselves and their own followers. So all Gods have an unspoken agreement since then - no one enters the mortal realm. Anyone who does gets Forgotten.

 So the champions are an important part of how they conduct their business in the mortal realm, they can act where a God cannot necessarily due to their restrictions, but normal people are too. Sometimes a God will give you a vision, knowing you tell your one friend all of your weird dreams so that friend will get the message. Sometimes a priestess will be cued in on someone the God wishes to help. Sometimes a random dude will accidentally bumble his way into letting an evil God’s pet monster loose on the world. Mortals make useful aids when it comes to setting up the Gods’ games, whether they like it or not.

 The Gods can handle some things on their own, though, like you can absolutely get lightening bolted by a cruel god of storms for saying he’s cruel out loud and a goddess of protection can absolutely shield you from a blow that would have killed you and so on. But they aren’t omnipresent, so sometimes things happen when you’re God isn’t looking for better and worse, and Gods also have a hard time acting outside of their territory in mortal domains. If you say worship a relatively unknown sun god and walked into one of the large swaths of territory Corona controls, your God cannot really be counted on to you because Corona can just a laugh at anything he tries to day and say ‘no’ and block his ability to do anything.

 Now then, as for where do they live and how they interact with each other, each God has their own realm. Their own little reality bubble. They can see themselves in them as they experience these reality bubbles much like we experience our lives.

 The realms are set by the Gods themselves and can be redecorated to fit their interests and liking. Some God’s realms never stop changing, some God’s realms haven’t changed since they came into existence.

 There isn’t a large common realm, but if a God’s influence comes into contact with another God’s influence, like two champions meeting, they become aware of each other and can link their realms together so that they can talk face to face. When realms are linked, the Gods can walk over to each other’s domains like walking to a next door neighbor’s home. These links can be severed either by the will of one of the gods or by one of the gods no longer having the strength to maintain the connection. Fun fact - In Forgotten Gods’ a pantheon references to a group of Gods who’ve all linked their realms together and decided to stay linked. They’re like friend groups or alliances. Another fun fact - Eternity and his husband, another God whose name he can’t seem to recall, were apart of a pantheon before that pantheon lost a territory war and were all Forgotten.

Here’s three examples of what the realms can look like using the Gods from before -

Eternity’s realm is a ship on a starry sea with fog rolling over the waves and multiple moons overhead. Any light not from the stars or moons glows purple regardless of the source and it’s always night.

Corona’s realm is a city in the sky. It’s perpetual daytime with clouds floating beneath it. Her divine messengers, made in her image so they are also dark-skinned humans with wings and golden eyes, all live there along with her faithful companions, four golden dragons. There is almost constant singing and color everywhere in the city.

Cordial’s domain is actually a massive, rustic log cabin complete with a large living room with rocking chairs and a hearth, a large kitchen with nice tea sets, a basement stockpiled with thousands of different ingredients and wines and the like, among other things.

 And now for your last question - where does their interest in mortals come from. This links into the phrase ‘being Forgotten’ you might have noticed me use a few times, so this is a good wrap up question ^^

 Divine energy feeds on mortals’ attention. Gods need to be acknowledged by the mortals as a part of survival. It doesn’t matter if it’s positive interactions or negative interactions, but they need someone to say they are real or they get Forgotten. When a God is Forgotten they lose their connection to the mortal realm and their own divine realm starts starving. Over time, the God grows weaker as it feeds on their own divine energy, then the God starts to lose their memory, and then the realm starts to eat itself with little elements going missing day by day, and then, if no one remembers them or finds proof that they were once there, they disappear.

 Every god is terrified of disappearing. Even the evil ones.

 So when Gods get into wars, is never comes to blows between them directly. No, they direct the mortals to go after that other Gods’ following. Priests, priestesses, and champions are usually the first targets. Then they go after the every day people who followed their enemy. Temples are desecrated, holy texts burned, and tragedy thick. It’s a literally fight for their lives for both the Gods and the mortals. If a priest/priestess realizes their side is going to lose, they usually have something connect to their god smuggled out by someone who doesn’t know them so that one day their God may break out of being Forgotten. This has saved many gods, and gotten many innocent traveling merchants killed for being in the wrong place during a God war. The goal is to destroy any evidence that a God ever existed so that they will not get any divine energy replenished.

 It quite savage and brutal when wars between gods happen in this world.

 All of this said, worshipers and loyal followers are usually preferred by Gods. Having someone doing what you say/ask feeds the divine energy more, and in the case of a God war, a willing follower is more likely to try and save you than the guy you’ve annoyed with random holes in the ground for the last three years. Plus, the more divine energy you’re generating in an area, the more secure your territory is and loyal worshipers attract more mortals to you and will probably at least talk about you or say prayers which feeds the divine realm and increases their influence.

There are some Gods who don’t care about any of that, though, and continue annoying mortals for the fun of it. XD

 Champions are mortals who have been infused with divine energy, giving them magic and such. I remember giving you a ramble about them specifically before, and I think I remember talking about how divine energy will eat at a Champion’s body if they use too much along with the varied types of powers champions can get. But as for why the gods are interested in making them, the increased power of a champion is a draw for a lot of people. It’s proof of the God’s power, gives the god a mortal agent to deal with rival God’s followers, threats to their own followers, and just go out and win fame and influence for them in general. However, maintaining a champion is difficult since the god has to maintain a constant connection to the mortal plane and keep it open. If they open it too far, the divine energy will kill their champion. If the connect gets too weak the champion can’t draw on their power, this is much more difficult if the champion is outside of their realm. Which is why most Gods only have one or two champions since they have other things to do and don’t want to just spend their time maintaining a dozen different connections to their realm all day.

This is a long one so read it when you have time.

The three acts of Inscryption function differently to each other. Act 1 (and the unlocked mode Kaycee's Mod after you beat the game) is a 3d rogue-like with a branching map where you get new cards in specified events. Act 2 takes a turn, being the "original" SNES inspired world with different areas. In Act 2, you get new cards by opening Card Packs, with eachof the four areas having a matching pack. When you beat two area bosses, you unlock (a) NPC(s) who you will recognize from Act 1, who functions in a somewhat different manner than before.

In Act 1 and Kaycee's Mod they will take any two duplicates and merge their Power and Health stats, with you also being able to add a third if you can find one. In Act 2, they will request you bring them four matching pairs of cards in a specific order with the first pair being two Gravediggers, allowing you to get Sporedigger. In Act 2, instead of increasing the stats, they make the Sigils (special effects cards have) happen twice. Gravedigger cards generate 1 bone per turn, Sporedigger makes 2.

If you get the two different Broken Obol cards and have them in play together in the right position (left half on the left, right half on the right) they perform a special animation and give you the Ancient Obol item without losing the two cards. If you take that to a special area in the Temple of the Dead, you can get access to a card and item important for the combos.

The first combo is only good for one match and takes a large amount of setup, making it only useful for farming foil(a currency gotten by over damaging the opponent, replacing the Teeth from Act 1 and Kaycee's Mod): Bone Lord's Horn + Bone Heap + Optional Sporedigger + Any other 17 cards (Have Bone Lord's Femur, gives three bones at start of combat)

Fight the Training Dummy.

Play the horn(3 bone cost) in front of the Force Mage so it can't attack, use it's ability to turn energy into bones. (Remember to end your turn to get new cards and refresh energy) Optional: Play Sporedigger(1 bone cost) for even more bones.

Get as many bones as you want.

Play Bone Heap in the third or fourth slot, use it's ability to pay two bones to increase it's stats.

Have it deal greater than 7 damage to get foils.

The second technique uses Ouroboros' special synergy with it's sigil that returns it to hand on death. All Ouroboros (and Ourobot) deaths outside Kaycee's Mod increase it's health and damage by 1 permanently.

Combo: Ouroboros + Necromancer(makes your creatures die twice on their death) + Pharaoh's Pets (worth three creatures in sacrifice, cannit be removed from board by sacrifices) + Optional Sporedigger + Optional Bone Lord's Horn + any 15 other cards

Fight the Training Dummy. (do NOT end turn until step 7)

Get nine bones and the first three cards. (two optional cards to get enough bones for Necromancer and Pharaoh's Pets)

Put Necromancer(3 bone cost) in front of the Force Mage and the Pharaoh's Pets(6 bone cost, cannot be destroyed by sacrifice) in any other slot.

Play Ouroboros by sacrificing Pharaoh's Pets

Use Hammer on Ouroboros to kill it (this activates Necromancer's sigil, cloning it temporarily and increasing its damage permanently)

Repeat step 4 and 5 as many times as you wish. (Must be greater than 7)

End your turn while Ouroboros is in the third or fourth slot.

You now have something that can oneshot any card or mini boss, and two-phase the area bosses.

This is but an ice cube in comparison to the greater whole of Inscryption. Note you can only do these in Act 2.

Shower Thoughts: Megaman Legends Reboot

A combination of certain YouTube videos and a recent replay of Marvel vs Capcom 2 with Tron Bonne as one of my mains got my mind remembering the good times I've had with the Megaman Legends series. That, in turn, led to my mind wandering towards those games in the shower and the fact we will likely NEVER see the 3rd game get made. What MIGHT be possible, however, would be a reboot of the series made from scratch and I started to think about how I would make that game if it were mine to make. Below are my thoughts: -A fully open world to explore ala Breath of the Wild. Legends' story was always centered around exploration and discovery of lost histories and treasures. -Combat should revolve almost entirely around the Megabuster, with secondary weapons being more like attack combo extensions you can trade out and upgrade. Effective fighting would revolve around using dashes and fancy maneuvers like flipping over your enemies to get into optimal positions for both defense and hitting weak points. Fighting should be the most fun part of the game, to spur players to seek progress via combat. -Fast travel via the Flutter should be available from the start of the game and one of the ongoing objectives will be to make new spots on the map the Flutter can land. The Flutter will also act as a base of operations where you can buy/build upgrades and decorate the place to your liking. -Lots of NPCs that will give Megaman small side quests as well as flavor the world so that it feels lived in. -The Bonnes should be a constant but likeable threat from the beginning of the game. Minibosses that could show up at any time while exploring the overworld but fighting them is optional (reward the player for doing so successfully). -Megaman's main motivation should be retrieving his lost memory above all else. I'd probably have the end game force a choice where he can save more people by giving up the chance to fully restore his memory. Choosing to restore memory gives a power boost while saving people allows for more quests in the post game.

Anyway, that was what I was thinking of whilst washing my hair today. XD Hope it's at least entertaining to read. Our imagination is sadly likely the only way we'll ever get new Megaman ^^;

Do you have more Imperial or Republic characters?

18 active toons, 12 are Imperial and 6** (I’m terrible at counting/math shhh XD) are Republic

So Imperial, by virtue of me losing muse for a lot of my original Pub toons from when I first started the game, and murking them at the beginning of last year to start fresh with the current gang in Subterfugeverse. I kept adding family members so the Impside is winning by a mile atm because of that factor, even if most of them are canonically Alliance-aligned and not actually Imperial anymore ;)

Used to be much more balanced tho, oopsie :’D I just prefer the storylines and the companions from the Imp side, ya know?

Which class do you play as the most?

If we go on “amount of characters I have for that class”, it’d be

Sith Warrior - 6, I have Saarai (+a Rai clone for Koth’s romance arc), Vano, Kissai, Ty, and Shakkai

Sith Inquisitor - 5, I have Roan (Aria’s dad), D’leah, Ni’kasi, Paa, and Cheriss (who’s a background character that hasn’t really officially appeared yet, but she takes the place of Imperius in Subterfugeverse and sits on the Laws and Justice Sphere instead of Mortis atm (or maybe after, I might have to jig this a bit given the newer update(s) depending on how I’m gonna go with it in my verse)

but in terms of “class who’s abilities/game mechanics I enjoy playing the most”, I’d definitely have to give that to Jedi Shadow specifically, so Jedi Consular.

I just really like their moveset, it’s a lot of fun :P I need to make more Shadows, honestly, but the tomato family is holding me hostage rn so I’m out of “new character” ideas atm. XD

Aria’s ready to start the Pubside of Forged Alliances, and Saarai’s about ready to begin KOTFE now, but I haven’t had the time to devote to getting either of them any closer yet!

Actually nobody yet! Vano’s the closest, she’s done up to the Nathema Conspiracy. I’m a bit meh on the plot points that follow after that so I’ve been dragging my feet as it were ;o;

Who stayed loyal to their class romance? Who didn't?

As of right now, just Ni’kasi with Andronikos!

Some of them (like Aria and Vano) are shipped with each other so they either haven’t done romances at all, or the ones they did do were filler (Vano romanced Quinn for plot reasons while she and Aria were separated for a time, but she broke it off with him after the Quinncident)

I do have plans for a fem!JK to romance Kira though, and she will obviously be staying loyal, but I haven’t actually even created her in-game yet.

Who started a romance with Lana, Theron, or Koth?

Saarai romanced both Lana and Koth - I haven't gotten the clone that far yet as to do his romance arc "canonically" yet but she will haha (*banging pots and pans* I said they’re poly and you can’t make me stop Bioware *ahem* anyway) and Vano did Lana’s arc as well as a “filler” because I just love it, I think it’s cute. I’ll probably do Lana’s romance with Aria as well, again as filler, and also because I just want to see what’s different with a Republic/Jedi character as opposed to an Imperial/Sith character.

I haven’t had anyone romance Theron yet and don’t really plan to, I don’t really have anyone that fits with him  (I love him as a friend and advisor, I just don’t vibe with romancing him, pls do not attack me, thank you)

Who is your oldest (having played the longest)?

Aria! She was the first character I got “serious” about, originally I was going to make her a Jedi Knight, but then when I discovered Knights don’t get saberstaffs, I switched her to Consular and never went back.

Who is your newest?

There’s two at the moment, both non-canon and just means to get screenshots/references of them (and play the class stories again but shhh), but both additions to the Reverse!Zephyrverse Ahaszaai family

Shakkai (Sith Marauder) -- Saarai and Ni’kasi’s younger sister, quintessential “middle child” with a Napolean complex that would make her mama proud, a chaotic disaster lesbian, possible (definite) gremlin who will fight EVERYONE and because of this fact she is D’leah’s blatantly-obvious favourite child. XD

and Paa (Sith Assassin - though honestly...she’s a healer and doesn’t even fight much at all except to get a patient out of the firing line lmao I just wanted to try out the Sin spec cause so far all my other SIs have been Sorcs *shrugs*) -- Paa is technically half Pureblood, half Zabrak but ofc the game doesn’t really have way to make hybrids so my excuse is she has very very tiny horns that are pretty much hidden by all her hair ;) plus a few other things that are not immediately visible but do make her “different” to other 100% Purebloods(her spurs aren’t as mobile/emotive, and she has two hearts like a Zabrak would) :’3

She’s Kissai’s half-sister, so the twins (and Shakkai and Jen’s) aunt, (somehow) one of D’leah’s best friends even though Paa is actually the least murdery Sith in existence and D’leah is the complete opposite of that. bestie, quickly, drop top 5 cheapest greek islands… asking for a friend

Heyyyyy I don't know if these recs are the absolute top cheapest but I know that they have budget friendly options for sure. Check the very important notes in the end.

1. Skyros

I have been to Skyros and is a destination that left an impression. There are many things that are peculiar about this island. It has no nautical lifestyle despite being an island, it is clearly an agricultural place. On the map, it's off the coast of Euboea island but far from any other island which gives it a different character from the rest. It is only now discovered by tourists (hence the lower prices) and this in combination with the remote location on the map and the lack of maritime business has kept the people somewhat closed to themselves but it's interesting to see the stark difference with most Greek places. The island is big and the north is forested and verdant like the Sporades islands in the north while the south is arid and dramatic like the Cyclades islands in the south. Skyros is where you will see the endemic Skyrian horses and the Chora (main town) of Skyros is hands down one of the most beautiful island towns I've been to. *Despite being remote, reaching it is not very hard.

2. Andros

Another one I have a personal experience from, Andros belongs to the super popular Cyclades islands but differs from them both in budget-friendliness and looks. Andros is a large island and very verdant with small mountains, forests and springs that remind of the Greek mainland. Its local products are top quality and the food is delicious. Andros has an aristocratic wealthy past that can still be observed in its beautiful Chora. Don't miss Goulandris' Museum of Modern Art. It's been ages since I've been there but I wonder if they still have the Sound of the Sea exhibit which had mesmerised me.

3. Thassos

Thassos is the northernmost Greek island. It is a big enough island and your route to reach it will be different than the common one (fly to Thessaloniki or Kavala region and then take an 1-hour ship for Thassos). The island is super verdant and has stunning white beaches like the Marble beach and the Giola natural pool. It also has mountainous / hilly villages that remind of the Greek mainland. Don't forget to also see the Ancient Theatre.

4. Lemnos

A volcanic island of the Northeastern Aegean, it is budget friendly due to its distance from Athens and the hotspot islands. Other than that, it is a super distinct island with unique geomorphology and local character. There are beautiful beaches, traditional towns, uncommon land and rock formations. Two of the highlights are Ammothines, the Sand Dunes of Lemnos, one of the few deserts Greece has and the roofless church that is naturally covered by a cave.

5. Karpathos

Number five is my Greek dream destination. Karpathos is a big island in the far south, belonging to the Dodecanese islands. It owes its budget-friendliness to its remoteness and its very strong traditional character. Its landscapes are dramatic, with steep arid mountains ideal for hiking and risky mountain biking. It has stunning beaches and one of the most famous towns in Greece, Olympos (it's on the top of a mountain but nothing to do with the other Olympus). Karpathos is one of the very last places in Greece where women still dress in their traditional costumes that they make themselves.

Notes:

Greece is all-around a destination for all budgets. With the exceptions of Santorini and Mykonos where it's impossible in the high season, you can technically find good offers in most places. But depending on the location, it can either be very hard or need to lower your standards or you can make it somewhere nice for a good deal.

There are many other options too; if you didn't like my top 5, search these: " islands of the northeastern aegean", "less known cyclades islands", "small dodecanese islands".

Other specific cheap islands could be: Ithaca, Ikaria, Samothrace, Alonissos, Sifnos, Serifos, Chios, Samos, Kythnos, Sikinos, Halki, Koufonisia and PERHAPS Kalymnos, Folegandros, Amorgos and Aegina.

My top 5 was a combo of stand alone unique cheap islands: two that I 've been, two that are trending as cheap and one that I want badly to go.

Crete and Euboea islands are massive. They both get many tourists, especially Crete is PACKED, but because of their hugeness they offer options for everybody. Check them out but keep in mind they need time to be fully explored, Crete needs weeks.

And generally, for low-budget and quality, don't scratch out the mainland. It's the biggest mistake tourists do.

Is it just me, or is he looking my way?  You caught Childe in the act while you and your team retreated into the opposite tree line after Aether had taken the dragon tooth.  Something didn't feel right.  The trees seemed to close in on you like tunnel vision.  Was he planning on attacking you with the skirmishers at his side? Was he going to show his true colors now?  Is it time to face death?

He dismissed the soldiers and retreated from the direction you had all spotted the skirmishers in the first place.  He made a point to cast a meaningful glance your way.

I can't let it happen now, you looked to each of your teammates as you all ran through the snowy woods.  If he brought all of those Fatui agents on board with taking you out, the entire group would be overwhelmed.  The sheer cold puts us at a disadvantage.  Bennett could get hurt.  Xiao can't fight with his full strength.  When was the last time Aether and Childe sparred?  I can't rely on those results to protect me either.  

No one was paying attention; you could slip away and try to strike a deal with the Harbinger.  Bargain for Xiao's freedom and safety. You were hypersensitive to the weight of your coat on your shoulders, and the crunching of snow beneath your boots.  He can't hurt us now...not now!

You peeled away from the group and they continued to run towards a cave several hundred yards from their current position.  No one had heard you.  When you finally reached the first firepit, you found Childe waiting next to it.

"Oh there you are, ojou-chan!  Did you get the tooth? Where are the others?  They didn't run into trouble, did they?"  He greeted you with his signature friendly stature.

"Drop the act, Childe." You came to a halt maybe ten feet from him, with your back to the firepit.  It warmed your body significantly and you could finally feel your fingers and toes again.  He was on the far end of the open area.

"Whatever do you mean, ojou-chan?"  The mask didn't crack.

"We're alone now.  Is that what you wanted?"

Childe stared at you for a moment before breaking out into a loud fit of laughter.  "Oh ojou-chan, you know me so well〰"  He took a couple steps toward you.  "You should know I've been meaning to talk to you."

"That's close enough."  He stopped.  "I know what you're after."

"Oh?"  A dangerous glint sparked in his eyes, one that you've never seen before.  "Enlighten me then."

"I don't want Xiao dragged into whatever mess you brought upon us.  Whatever your plan entails, it ends with me."

"A noble sacrifice for a man that will not love you," he smirked.  "Why do you try to protect him when he can clearly fight for himself?"

"He's been through enough already," your hands closed into fists as you recalled his horrific past.  "I'll go with you, but only if you give me your word you won't take him too."

"Ha!  I feel no need to fight you, ojou-chan."  The sincerity in his voice attracted your gaze back to him.  "I don't wish to hurt you."

"Huh..?"  That's out of character.  Is this some sort of trap?

"I...have other goals in mind.  They require your cooperation, of course.  And your cutting of ties with the adeptus."

"Cutting ties?  Why would I do that?"  Your brows furrowed.

"My loyalty lies with the Tsaritsa, but I have a special interest with this mission after meeting you, ojou-chan," he made his way closer, and you stood in total confusion.  "I will personally see to it that you will not get harmed at all in Snezhnaya.  It all depends on your answer."

"You...I don't get what you mean.  What answer?  What exactly are you asking of me?"  Whatever it was, you sure as hell weren't going to agree with it.  But as soon as the questions left your lips, you knew.

He does like you.

Childe took note of the realization--and the fear--on your face and continued. "Surrender is a valid option, I promise I'll be gentle.  This is a simple route that avoids all the fighting and pain.  All you need to do is allow me to love you, and I won't harm your friends.  You have my word."

"L-love me?"  The words left a terrible taste in your mouth.  "I...I could never!  I could never love you, either!  You killed my Granny...you stole her house from her frail hands.  You...You!" Your sword made a metallic sound as it was unsheathed.

Childe inhaled and manifested his bow.  He nocked an arrow onto his finger and drew the string to his cheek.  "A most expected answer, ojou-chan.  Thank you for strengthening my resolve.  This will be much more enjoyable now."  Whatever turmoil that shone in his eyes was long gone  and replaced with pure malice.  "Let's make this a fair fight."  The arrow shot into the fire and extinguished it.

"Tch." You ran toward him as fast as you could in the snow, and crossed sword with lance.

"Not bad," your opponent grinned with satisfaction.  "Where'd you learn this technique from?"  You somehow managed to keep up with his unrelenting blows thanks to the muscle memory that belonged to Xiao.  "I don't recall the adeptus ever training you."

"Ngh!"  He landed a kick to your stomach and you fell into the snow.  Childe let you get back up, completely high on the thrill of fighting you and more than intent on dragging it out so he could watch your fighting spirit diminish.  I may be keeping up with him, but I can't land a solid blow like this.  You slowly removed your two remaining jackets and tossed them into the snow next to the extinguished firepit.  If I can somehow finish the fight quickly...You knew it was a hopeless battle.  A fight between a non-vision wielder and a harbinger that wields both vision and delusion? Complete and utter self-annihilation will ensue.

"I admire your tenacity, comrade," he watched the jackets fall.  "But now that I have my answer, there's no reason to wait any longer."  He shoved his lance towards you when your guard was down.

"I won't let you hurt him!"   You swung your blade to parry, and a sudden blast of material sent the two of you flying backwards into the snow.  Your vision was suddenly looking into the tree canopy.  "Ugh, wha--?"  You sat up to find ice shards scattered across the snow.  Something cool and metallic sat in your free hand.  You opened your palm to reveal what you least expected.

A vision.

You stared at your hand with bewilderment while Childe rose to his feet with a mixture of shock, admiration, and annoyance.  "I see.  An unexpected development," he remarked with cold eyes.  "It's a shame you won't have the chance to wield it properly against me.  He drew his bow and aimed for your chest.  Another block of ice manifested before the arrow could pierce you.

You placed the artifact into your jean pocket, and you rose to your feet with a newfound confidence.  Maybe you could beat him here and now.  Images of Xiao's fights involuntarily crossed your mind, and a lance of ice materialized in your hand.  You held it so that the tip pointed directly at Childe.

Another clashing of blades, this time converting Childe's into an ice sculpture.  But not before you had managed to freeze his leg into the snow for a hot second.  You ducked at his swings, parried his attacks, and followed through with a sequence of your own--or rather Xiao's--attacks.  It looked like you were gaining the upper hand until Childe caught your blade in his gloved palm.

"Thank you for the entertainment, ojou-chan," he growled.  "But this is where it ends for you."  Did you really think he hadn't studied your newfound techniques during your previous fighting session?  So naïve of you, ojou-chan.  You can't use the same tricks twice.

You retracted your weapon and lay waste another blow.  He easily parried it.  You engaged in a combo before swiping your feet at his legs; he leapt away before you could knock him down.  You were frustrated now, your movements becoming sloppier with each passing movement.

There's the real you, he mused.  His frozen blade dug into your dominant shoulder with such force that he had you pinned to a tree.  He felt nothing but sadistic pleasure course through his veins at the sight of you squirming in pain.

"Gah!" A shriek escaped your lips and your lance dropped from your hand.  You tried to claw the spear out of your body as he stalked ever closer to you.

"I don't even need Foul Legacy to kill you. You could never defeat me, not even in your wildest dreams," Childe stalked towards you as he twirled a new hydro polearm behind his body, stopping once its blade pressed against your neck.  He could kill you in an instant, and he would if he wasn't required to bring you alive.

You were seething with anger and hatred. It was stupid of you to go after him on your own, to seek a peaceful resolution to this conflict when you knew all along that there wouldn't be one. It didn't matter now. Your anger subsided, shoulders releasing themselves from the tension in your muscles once you thought of an idea. Even the pain in your dominant shoulder seemed to subside a bit.  Your sudden change in demeanor made Childe's grip loosen for a moment as he questioned the newfound peace emanating from you.

Your eyes closed and your lips curled into a smile. Adeptus Xiao, you called to him in your heart.Please hear me and answer my prayer for protection.

A sudden gust of wind blew against your back, and Childe faltered. He looked to you for an explanation, and you met his gaze through his mask. "I know, but he can."

Xiao burst into Childe at an incredible speed, knocking him square into another tree. The trunk splintered in half from the force.  He conjured his polearm and held its blade at Childe's throat. "Why the sudden politeness in your prayers?" He called out over his shoulder without taking his eye off the Harbinger.  I'm cursed with hearing her rambling whenever I'm gone, and only now she speaks politely to an illuminated adeptus?  Despite that thought, he actually loved hearing your voice reach his ears.

"I-I don't know.." WAIT, he COULD hear me all this time?!  Blush further tinted your pink cheeks that were red from the sheer cold.

"Tsk," Childe spit blood onto the snow and glared at the yaksha.

"Give me one reason why I shouldn't decapitate you here."

Childe wasn't going to give him a reason and debated on conjuring his polearm instead.  Here he was, about to die at the hands of the damned yaksha, and all because he had decided to give you a chance to 'escape' a portion of the hardship that awaited you.  Signora would lose what respect she had for him if she ever found out.  Oh well.

"Ngh," you writhed against the tree.  Your feet were just inches from solid ground, making this injury all the more painful as you hung from the lance.  You couldn't move your dominant arm anymore.  Xiao let go of Childe's collar and moved to your aid.  He slipped your other arm over his shoulder so he could relieve the pressure off of your injury, then yanked the spear out without warning.  Your shout of pain scared the nearby foxes away.

Xiao gave the Harbinger one last glare before he lifted you in his arms and took off at an incredible speed.  It was only a matter of seconds before the two of you caught up with the rest of the group, who were waiting just inside a small cave that held mysterious lab equipment.

"Be careful,"  the yaksha set you on your feet but refused to remove your arm from around him.

"There you are!  W-where'd Childe go?"  Bennett paled when he saw your injury.  "Here, let me see that."  Aether, Paimon, and Xiao exchanged knowing looks while Bennett examined your shoulder.  "You should sit down.  This isn't anything I can't fix!"

"What happened? Did Childe...?" Aether trailed off once he returned with a bowl of water from a boiling pot.  

"Mn," you winced when Bennett peeled your shirt off of your bloody skin.  "I thought he was conspiring with those agents when we were making a run for it, so I followed him."

"A foolish decision," Xiao grumbled.  He took the water from Aether and held it to your lips.

"Were you at least able to find anything else out about his plans? Or Signora?"  Paimon spoke up.  "It's not worth getting hurt over if you just throw yourself in harm's way like that."

"I thought he was going to..." your eyes flicked to Xiao's for a split second before they fell to the ground.  '--Hurt you,' you wanted to say.  But the yaksha would not hear of it if you said something so foolishly naïve.  You were just a measly human after all, with little knowledge of fighting and a large heart that wanted to protect those around her.  A big heart could only go so far; it proved useless in your battle today.  Or did it?  You nearly jumped up when you remembered, "I have something! I got something from this!"  Your loud yelp scared the daylights out of Bennett, and he nearly yanked the stitch out that he had just put into your skin.  You dug into your pocket and pulled out the artifact.

"Is that--?!"  Paimon and Aether sprung to their feet simultaneously.

"A vision?"  Xiao's eyes widened slightly.  And a cryo one, at that.

"So cool!" Paimon spun around with excitement.  "You're officially one of us now! Er, not that you weren't to begin with--"

"Congrats,"  Aether nodded and flashed you a toothy grin.  

"Yeah, congrats!"  Bennett also flashed you a bright smile and observed the trinket in your palm.  "Wow, we're like, polar opposites!"

"Heh, yeah," you nodded with a faint smile.  Your eyes found Xiao's, which were locked onto your vision.  "Xiao?"

"You received a blessing from the very god that's hunting you.  Do you not find that odd?"  His lack of enthusiasm made your chest ache in disappointment.  

Was he not proud of such an accomplishment?

"Yeah now that you mention it," Paimon held her chin and thought.  "It is really weird.  Why would she make her target more powerful? Wouldn't that just make it more difficult for her to capture you?"

"Did Childe say anything about it?"  Aether prompted.

"No," you shook your head slightly and pursed your lips.  "He seemed as surprised as I was."

To be blessed with the cryo vision, one must commit an act that revolves around love, Xiao's brows furrowed.  Had she done something on the behalf of her grandmother, or is this all in the Cryo Archon's plan?  It never crossed his mind that you had gotten it on his behalf.
