PSA: CAT MEDICAL BILL SCAM

Please signal boost this if possible to inform your followers about these scams.

Earlier today, I got a message from the account nicole-loves-king, where they asked me to signal boost a post because their cat needed medical help. Here's the ask:

I looked at this post and was immediately put off because they were asking for people to send things through 'friends and family', which if you aren't aware, is a very insecure way to send someone funds using paypal, because you don't have the protections you would get if you used 'goods and services'. So scammers can make off w your money really easily.

I looked at their blog and scrolled down to the end, and I realized their blog was made today! And, all their posts (there weren't many posts to begin with lol) were of trending topics. I noted puss in boots, and welcome to nightvale among others. This is probably how they found me, because I reblogged some of that stuff recently.

In their ask, they also tell you to answer privately. Hm, that seems sus. Why would someone not want you to publish a request for help?

So I have a policy where I don't signal boost posts from brand new blogs because, yknow, they could be scams. I posted this, and the scam account blocked me. They also blocked my friend when they replied to their ask and said their blog looked suspicious. I did some more digging, and I found a comment from someone that confirmed my suspicions:

This is in fact a scam!

@nicstonka is almost identical to the above account (nicole-loves-king). Look at the avatar, the pictures, and the paypal address, both accounts even have 'nic' (as in 'nicole') in the name. The only thing that is extremely different is the name of the cat! Yet both blogs also have the name of the cat in their url ('king' and 'tonka'). That should also be a red flag, because usually someone isn't gonna have the name of their pet in their url, only a few posts, and a signal boost for that exact (fake) pet.

So if you see any blogs like this, where all they have is trending posts, it seems like they've copied and pasted an ask to you, or if they're asking you to send things via friends and family, vet them so so so carefully, because chances are you're walking into a scam. Don't just repost things without carefully checking! If you aren't in a position to check carefully, better safe than sorry: don't repost it! Don't let these scams spread.

Pro tip: If a blog is dash only, so you can't view their archive to see when their first post was made, and you're on desktop, you can just open the blog in its dashboard view, then click 'end' on your keyboard over and over until all their posts are loaded. Usually if it's a spam blog, you'll only need to click 'end' 5-6 times, sometimes a bit more, since they only post just enough times to give the appearance they're active, then there's absolutely nothing after that.

If you want more proof someone is a scammer, you can look at the currency they use their post (or the currency shown in the vet bill), then hover over the paypal link and inspect the part of the url that says 'country.x=AA'. The 'AA' is the abbreviation for the country your money is going to! If that country doesn't match the country of the currency shown in the post, it's a scam! Example: someone's post says '$' for USD/CAD dollars, but the country in their paypal link is 'PH', which stands for Philippines, where they use Philippine pesos, not dollars!

Also keep in mind that these are not bots! There is a real person behind these accounts. They have replied to people who wanted to confirm they were real, but their intentions are still to scam you, they just know it looks better if they reply.

i actually am going to address this because this person has been lying about what's been going on for months and they've apparently been harassing other people for months if not years, so. it's time to put an end to this.

before i start though i want to make it abundantly clear that if you take this as an opportunity to do anything other than block this person, then you are trash. do not send him messages. do not tag him in things. do not harass him in any way. leave him alone. if you need to block, do so and then move on. hate mail and harassment is disgusting behavior and i don't want to be surrounded by anybody who engages in it. and if you do it on my behalf, i think you are worthless and i want nothing to do with you.

so, this is what happened: back in february of 2023, an anon asked me if i had any opinions that would get me canceled with the dean girlies. i replied, "oh now we’re talking!! hmmmm let’s see. i don’t care about benny at all. deanbenny does nothing for me. deanbenny is dust. it is dust. drowley rights forever" and i did not tag it because i'm not an asshole. bear then sent me a message that at the time i thought was funny/cute because his url reflected that he was obviously a huge benny fan. we had a very cordial exchange. everything was good. we chatted a little bit about how neat it would've been if benny had been played by a black actor and how the racism problem with gordon would've been fixed if gordon had been played by a white actor. not all of our conversation is visible anymore (and i also don't think all of it was on this post anyway) because i've since blocked him so his replies no longer show up on my posts. the point is: everything was fine. it was a good tumblr exchange. he continued to follow me. i did not follow him then or at any point.

the problem is that he kept coming onto my posts and into my inbox to try to make things about benny. that is not okay. i had already said that benny was a character (and deanbenny a ship) that i was not interested in. to me, this is an obvious boundary i've established that he repeatedly crossed. it's not an egregious violation, obviously. more than anything it's annoying. what he should've done, if benny was that important to him, was unfollow me and move on. but he didn't and i indulged him for awhile but at a certain point i thought, "okay maybe if i stop indulging him, he'll take the hint." so i stopped responding. he did not take the hint. he got worse and he even started commenting on things that he couldn't make about benny, just to willfully misinterpret things i said and taking them completely out of context. unfortunately, i don't have receipts for any of this because at the time i didn't know it was going to become an actual problem (however I have since learned that this is an established pattern of behavior he engages in, so you can probably find examples on other people's blogs).

it got so annoying, though, that i very carefully broached the subject in a private server with people i trusted. without naming any names or using any incriminating language (i.e. not specifically referencing benny), i basically said that there was someone being annoying about a specific character on my posts and i wasn't sure what to do about it. immediately, a handful of people replied with some variation of "the benny stan? he's been doing that to me too." i do have receipts of this (and an entire server to back me up) but i hope you can all understand why i'm not going to provide those or name names (or ask anyone to get involved publicly). the point is, it became apparent that i wasn't the only one and this was a pattern of behavior. i also learned during that conversation that bear has a history of harassing people and calling someone racist or a transphobe if they block him.

at that point, i decided not to rock the boat. i would just continue to ignore him and maybe he would get bored and move on. well that obviously didn't happen. he kept doing it and as a fun added bonus, he started to make vague posts about me. the thing is i don't actually care if he vagueblogs about me. it's his blog. he can do whatever he wants. it's none of my business. i mean i personally think he should've just unfollowed but, again, his blog, his choice. it is annoying that every single time he would do it, someone would send me a link or a screenshot of him doing it, but that's not really his fault. so, again, i just ignored it.

this is where we get to the incident in question. after a private discussion among a small group of friends, i posted this obviously joke poll at the insistence of @letterstothedevil, a tumblr user who has given me permission to include her in this.

now EYE think it's abundantly clear that the poll was a joke amongst friends, but maybe it wasn't, and i'm not going to fault anyone for not magically knowing that. i am, however, totally willing to fault someone for being a gigantic asshole. bear commented on the post and i, admittedly, gave a somewhat dismissive response because at that point i was so tired of him being willfully obtuse and twisting every little thing i said that i just didn't want to bother. he then went and made a series of not-at-all-vague posts calling me racist and claiming that i simply do not care about the racism in the show and it's obvious because i've never ever discussed it on my blog (which is a hilarious lie given that i'd specifically discussed it on my blog with him). at that point, there was no reason not to block him. he was already doing the thing that i didn't want to deal with. so i did. and i thought that would be the end of it.

again, i was wrong.

i then started to get anon messages daily about benny and deanbenny and how i'm racist for not liking benny, etc. this was harassment that EYE was on the receiving end of. nobody else was a victim of the messages i was being sent. they were sent to me and it is not my job to make sure other people are protected from the harassment that i am experiencing. i'm pointing this out for two reasons: 1. because i did try to protect bear from it for awhile anyway. i knew that people would assume it was him and at the time i was still giving him the benefit of the doubt, if for no other reason than the fact that i didn't think he could send me messages since i blocked him. and 2. because when i did finally start to respond to some of the messages, bear acted like he was somehow the victim in all of this (and continues to act that way to this day).

i don't know if bear had (or currently has) anything to do with any of the messages i get (which, thankfully, have slowed considerably). what i do know is that at no point during any of this happening did he stop looking at my blog and vagueblogging about me.

when i finally did answer a few of the messages, bear had a bit of a meltdown about it. i know this because he used a separate account that i hadn't know existed to message me and because he talked to one of my friends about it. (i'm not going to name that person but if they want to get involved publicly of their own accord, that's up to them lol). i'm also not going to share screenshots of what bear said to me because he explicitly asked me not to (it's also the reason i'm not sharing screenshots of the numerous receipts i have of the things he's said and lied about on his blog but, unless he's deleted any of them, you can go and find the posts yourselves.) what i am going to share is that in the message he sent to me, he flat out lied about his behavior. he told me he hadn't been vague-blogging about me, that he would never ever do that about anyone, and that he would certainly never harass someone (all things that i have receipts of him doing).

it took me awhile to respond to this message because i was still trying to be gracious about the whole situation. i recognize that he is much younger than i am and i think it's important for me, as a full blown adult, to take that into account. i had a private discussion with a few trusted friends about how to handle this because it was important to me to not let him off the hook for his behavior and for lying just because he's young. this is what i ended up saying:

his response was to double-down on his lies (while, hilariously, vague-blogging about me and the whole thing) and then go into victim mode about something so completely unrelated and far-fetched that i decided i simply wanted nothing to do with him ever. (this is when he asked me not to share screenshots, so i won't, but this is me saying that i have ALL of the receipts, bear, so if you continue to lie, you will not like what happens.) i blocked his alternate account and tried to ignore him.

the harassment continued. again, i have no idea if he was actually part of it. the vagueblogging continued. he started to do it to other people he associated with me. many of them blocked him because of his behavior. i continued to answer some of the hate i received, continued to ignore and/or block most of it. it got so bad that i was sent seizure bait on more than one occasion, one time bad enough that i actually ended up going to the ER. there are receipts of all of this, too. you can see on my blog the messages i've been sent. i think at one point i even shared a snapshot of what my inbox looked like. i've shared privately with friends (who can confirm if they want to, but no pressure) screenshots of the kinds of messages i get that i don't respond to. the point is, that for a period of months, i was relentlessly harassed. and at no point during this time did i say anything to or about bear (or anyone else). the most i've done is respond to messages that have been sent to me. i've largely sat quietly while this thing happened to me and bear continued to make posts about me and act like he is somehow a victim in this. he's assumed things about me and my identity. he's violated boundaries i've set. he will not let this go. and i'm not the only one he's doing it to.

i'm so fucking tired of it. leave me alone. leave my blog alone. leave my friends alone. leave any and all of the people who have blocked you for your own inappropriate and obnoxious behavior alone. that's it. that's the end. none of this would be happening if you would just respect other people's boundaries. i don't want you on my blog. i do not want to interact with you. i don't want anything to do with you. that's it. the end.

Okay, I’m gonna stick to the raw evidence I’ve seen, so here’s the facts that I have available to me.

I have barely ever even seen predstrogen post pictures, period, let alone seen a mistagged nsfw picture on her blog. That doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened, but I can’t find it so I can’t assume it’s there.

On the other hand, I have seen examples of several anonymous asks, sent both to her and other tumblr users about her, that would definitely constitute harassment.

A few of those asks were sent by non-anonymous users and all the one’s I have seen have been banned

I have seen the cars and hammers post.

The cars and hammers post is so hilariously not a threat I’d be laughing if the subject of the post were not taking it as an excuse to ban a trans woman for life from the platform he executives.

Several different tumblr users have pointed out that there is an ongoing harassment campaign against predstrogen, presumably referring to the asks I mentioned in 2.

@photomatt answered an ask last night about the growing sentiment among trans women on tumblr that staff is transphobic, in which he claimed that she had made multiple TOS violations, including posting unlabeled nsfw pictures, threatening people, and harassing them. He also misgendered her initially, but edited the post after several people pointed it out(although first he changed the wording to refer to “the account”)

When pressed to show these tos violations, Matt provided a screenshot of (initially url-less, later shown to be) predstrogen commenting on how she thought posting about her death wishes about Matt would get her banned, which he later added the context of the above post being the cars and hammers post.

Predstrogen’s account was banned, as well as the second account(apparently she has had to make new accounts a few times due to getting banned for similar issues, but I’ve only followed her for less than a year) she made to document most of the things that happened to her.

Specifcslly, her first account was banned after posting a completely sfw transition timeline photo, and her second account was banned right after posting a screenshot of the above mentioned reply, with more or less incredulity at the fact that the ask response referenced contacting the police and fbi.

Matt seems to be taking the backlash personally, publicly apologizing for the perceptions of transphobia on his personal blog and lamenting the initial ask reply. He has not done anything to indicate a reversal on the predstrogen decision, and insists that there are many more examples of harassment from her. He has answered several more asks and repeatedly encouraged people to “not patronize a business you think is transphobic”

SO, what can we draw from these facts? Well, one thing I can say, for sure, is that with what I currently know and what I have seen, predstrogen should not have been banned. Unless Matt has some significantly more egregious examples of threats, or examples of harrassment(people calling you transphobic isn’t harassment), or any examples of an unlabeled mature post(hell I don’t think I’ve even seen a labeled mature posts on her blog), then I think any bans applied to her accounts are in error and if staff are sitting on a big pile of nothing and not doing that, that is gonna draw their morality and ability to effectively moderate this site into even further question than it has been.

The terfs I’ve seen harassing Rita, at least when they’re stupid enough to leave their names visible, have been banned. I can’t follow the thread to see if claims about them being able to easily remake accounts and continue doing terf shit because i don’t run in terf circles enough to know who they were and what happened afterward. Assuming they aren’t back, this is a good thing, and I’ll give that point of credit where it’s due. However, it is worth noting that while Rita remains banned, this still looks like transphobia and deplatforming and threatening a trans woman(actually threatening her. With, y’know, the fbi). If I wanted to be extremely uncharitable, I could point out that banning terfs and trans women doesn’t make a space safe for trans women, and in fact makes it look like you’re only banning the terfs so you can say “well we don’t allow terfs so we can’t be transphobic!”

Conclusión: Im really disappointed with staff and with tumblr’s ceo in particular. It’s not hard to see why a lot of popular trans blogs are considering moving off platform and tons more are expressing general frustration. In particular, what has happened to predstrogen demonstrates a terrifying cycle that scares me and makes me worried for my own safety if I ever attract a large following on here. She has been targeted by terfs, apparently for years, in an open harassment campaign and has been threatened multiple times. She has referenced having stalkers. She is repeatedly suspended for community violations that are later referred to as “bugs”, but then suddenly one day she’s banned permanently for a post that doesn’t violate tos at all, and when she makes another account to call attention to this wrongful ban, she is banned again and threats about bringing in law enforcement are made by the ceo of the website. A woman that is the subject of years of harassment and credible threats to her safety is being gaslit about being the perpetrator of those very same things, and nothing is being brought to light to verify those claims.

Name-calling, dehumanization, or pejoratives

Things that are impossible to confirm from looking at someone's blog, or that isn't always readily apparent in casual conversation, such as age, gender, ethnicity, what media they like (which is not always the same as what they post on their blog), what they ship (see previous), or if they're a racist/TERF/etc

Terms that are defined incorrectly (such as defining proship as "pedo apologists")

Conflating interest in a fictional scenario, relationship, or character with "supporting it" in real life

Purity culture or kink-shaming rhetoric

It tries to check as many performative, common-sense boxes as possible

What happens after I submit a DNI list?

The admin will review it and queue it for posting. Depending on how big the queue is, your submission may take a while to appear on the blog. Please be patient! The admin will add commentary on why the submission is "hall of shame" worthy if it's not provided.

Can I put multiple images in the same submission?

Tumblr only allows you to upload one image on the submission page, but you can add the urls of other images in the text field. They will all be posted together. Please ensure the urls work prior to sending, so the admin can view them!

Why must usernames/handles be censored?

This blog operates on a strict no-harassment and no-brigading policy.

Are all submissions anonymous?

Yes! All submissions are posted as fresh posts without any identifying info. The initial submission page may ask for your username or email, but this won't be published.

Why are DNIs pointless?

Many blogs have explained this in much greater detail, but DNIs shift the onus of curating your internet experience onto other people, and makes your comfort other peoples' responsibility. They are based on the faulty presumption that you can control what others do online. You can ask people for courtesies, but they'll interact if they really want to - or if they simply don't see your DNI!

On that note, DNIs are very ineffectual on sites like tumblr, where posts are meant to be shared all over the place, on many different blogs - yet all of those interactions still show up in the original poster's notes, even if many of the people creating the notes are on OP's DNI. The definition of "interact" also changes between people, making it even harder to pin down an exact meaning and thus, how to conduct oneself. Some people define it as following and commenting on their blog, while others define it as simply leaving a "like" on some random person's reblog of a post, way off in the other corner of tumblr.

All of this is why it is better to practice healthy blocking, and simply state you will block certain people, as opposed to telling them not to interact with you, when they may not even see your DNI. After all, this site is designed for quick post sharing, and no one is going to check blogs every time they like or reblog a post... Even if they themselves have a DNI. Admin has lost track of how many people listed them in their DNI, but liked and reblogged their posts anyways!

Loki Fic Recommendations

For those who don't know, I have a side blog where I post fic recs, @maple-seed-reads

However, I haven't had much time recently to read, I've been focusing on writing instead. Therefore the queue on that blog is currently empty.

I've been feeling a little guilty about that so I decided to make a post here highlighting my favorite authors. I'm linking my favorite stories but you should check out their blogs/masterlists because they all have a variety of stories, if you don't like my suggestion there's probably something else there that you will.

Some of these authors have 18+ content, please respect their tags/notes.

@maiden-of-asgard is currently on hiatus. Her story Frostbite (18+) is widely known but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it just in case. I'm also in love with the in-progress It's Rotten Work.

@grufflepuff-writes-stuff has a series of soft fics called Loki's Lullabies, which currently has 251 entries. Yes, you read that correctly, 251. Three digits. If you put a gun to my head and asked me to choose a favorite I would still have to change my mind a dozen times, so I'm going to say Cast the Shadows Away and leave it at that. Rest assured, virtually any sweet, soft flavor you are craving can be found somewhere in that series. (Also, those looking for 18+ recommendations should read Catch Fire, Burn the Stars)

@writingfics-passingtime and @just-another-blog-of-fluff, JJ and Jessa, are the dynamic duo of tickle fics. Even if you're not particularly into tickling (I'm not) you should check them out. Their stories are well-crafted and definitely worth the read. Very fluffy, sometimes a little serious, always sweet and wonderful. Favorite from JJ: Understanding Favorite from Jessa: A Startling Realization (I just realized both of those recs are 10k+, if you want shorter fics they have those too.) BONUS: Last year they collaborated on a Christmas fic, A Reason to Celebrate

@munsons-maiden has shifted focus to Eddie Munson, but her Loki fics are still here. You may have to fiddle with the url due to blog name change but it's worth it and not difficult to do. Favorite: Like He Does

@michelleleahhh has an incredible enemies-to-lovers slow burn called Broken Crown (18+) that's filled with mystery and intrigue.

@give-me-a-moose is also on a writing hiatus. You should check out her series, By Hook or by Crook (18+), I am so in love with how in love those two characters are.

@cake-writes has a couple spicy in-progress series that I'm excited for. Dutiful Disaster (18+) is one I recommend if you want to see a couple dummies who think they hate each other but actually obviously don't.

@sarahscribbles has many fics worth reading but my current favorite is Dancing With the Devil (18+), it is a wonderful blend of sweet and spicy.

@silver-tongued-bby - I don't typically read AUs where Loki isn't an Asgardian god, but something about her fic Trouble (18+) drew me in. If you're looking for something different she has several AU fics to check out.

13, but really 7, because all but one of them are Finnish and English language versions of the same stories sjdfnasdfj

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Well,,, the fandoms I’ve published fic for are Hetalia (kringelis krongelis i know) and The Owl House, but when you add WIPs there’s also the Mandalorian, Noragami, and BNHA, and there USED to be HTTYD and GNG as well. Yeah the last one is the old anime where dogs fight bears. What can I say it’s really popular in Finland, Hopeanuoli 4ever

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

hands, grasping (the one TOH fic so no surprise there), Six Sunflowers (which is the oldest), Traitor’s Glory, Two Boys, Two Moments in Time, and lastly December 30th, 1929. 

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I mean I do try! When I leave comments it’s always nice to get answers, so I think it’s just nice to answer others. :) I do have some comments atm I’ve not answered but. Well. Just look at my url lmao

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

LMAO. I have no idea. I’m just going by the published ones here, but like: character seemingly falls to his death, character finds his mom’s dead on his 9th birthday and is left with his two other underage siblings to fend for themselves in the 1930s ussr, character resigns himself to the fact that his siblings probably hate him as he’s starving to death in a prison camp. Which one’s the angstiest? You choose!!

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Lmaooo well none of them are really _happy_, uh. I think Laid Down By Human Hands has probably the most neutral ending, whereas Six Sunflowers is more bittersweet, but like the sweet is there… And then Two Boys isn’t terrible either? Like it sucks a little cuz that kid’s living in WWII time Finland ya know, but it’s _fine_. I dunno! In truth it’s probably the fic on anon that’s the least terrible, but even that ending’s not a _happy_ one, it’s got unrequited pining in it lol.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! So far at least! I don’t think my fics are popular enough to get it haha.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope! I’m almost strictly a gen writer, aside from like. 2 AUs and one TOH wip. I guess some of the WIPs could potentially and maybe should have some fade to black kinda scenes because they’re stories involving a fair amount of romance and in one of them it’s even kind of relevant to the plot. But yeah no. 

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

WELL, okay. You see, I actually started out writing via original fiction? I was like 12 when I made up a story based on a long-lasting play-pretend during recess thing I had going on with my dear friend, and it was. Written and plotted by a 12-year-old. But THEN I got really into the How To Train Your Dragon movies, and then I crossed over my story and HTTYD and then tried (still kinda low-key sorta in the process of) to separate it into my original story again, but this time with dragons! So that’s. Like the craziest journey ahfijsd my original as-of-yet unwritten fantasy story has a crossover sequel with HTTYD lmao. Also just occasionally I think about a potential giant crossover that’s got allllll my faves meeting and interacting, but that’s solely for daydreaming and “lmao wouldn’t it be funny if” -scenarios in my head. I’ve later also crossed the characters from my original story with other ones I’ve liked, in my head lol, but I don’t think I’ve written out any. Other than the TT x HTTYD hybrid. (TT is the WIP name for that original story. it doesn’t stand for anything anymore tho lmao it’s just tt)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope! Not to my knowledge, at least! Again, my fics don’t get enough hits/are too niche for anyone to think about stealing them, I imagine. 

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yeah! Almost all of them! By me. What can I say, I try to fight the good fight to keep my native language alive on the internet and also in my head. 

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No. I did once talk about the possibility with a friend, but nothing ever came out of it. 

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Hhhh. This is very silly but I don’t really actively ship stuff, and rarely think of ships outside of when I’m watching or reading the source material or something. Thus the one I can feel confident in saying I ship is a…. oc x canon ship sshfskjfsidkfajksaf or maybe it’d be more accurate to say oc x mutated blorbo version of a canon character lmao. It’s mainly in. 2 AUs that have so little to do with the source material that they might as well be original fiction and probably by this point mostly are lol. 

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

GHHH I want to finish ALL of my big 5 main WIPs because I love them dearly and want to read them, but then again. I don’t know if I ever will because I can’t get myself to fuckin WRITE any of them. So I’m just gonna say all of my main WIPs. That is:

TT (original fantasy story thing)

home front fic (historical fic set in WWII Finland about the friendship between a kid and the soviet POW sent to work on his home farm)

Kingdom AU (girl from the country accidentally befriends the crown prince and there’s politics and they fall in love and some cool stuff and some less cool stuff happens. hard to summarize cuz i’ve never had to, target demographic is like. three people + me. here's the aesthetics and vibe blog it's got)

sad BNHA fic (what if. Eri got ofa. but how? i murder someone to haunt the narrative. easy. sad. sad bnha fd. naming skills on full display here) 

anddddd. hypothetical TOH fic (what if i came up with what happens after TTT before the two other eps of s3 came out and stayed on that path. what if the first thing i wrote about it was hunter falling off a cliff to his death. what then).

Kind of also TOH fic 3 (it’s about evelynnnnn) but that one is. Hopefully. Shorter and has the outline all written out so there’s a bigger likelihood of me finishing it someday. And to be fair the hypothetical TOH fic isn’t that long either, I could get it done, one day, but then the other ones have grown to massive size plotwise so I don’t know if I could ever get them done, actually. I hope so! But ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

16. What are your writing strengths?

I guess my plots are sometimes kinda good? Sad BNHA fic and Kingdom AU are pretty cool on that side. I used to be pretty good at writing dialogue too, but that was back when I a) wrote regularly, b) read a lot, and c) socialized. So. But I used to be good! though back then my plots were real frickin weird lol. in my defense. i was 14 to 17.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Writing itself. That’s the only answer I’ve got because recently I haven’t written enough to know what I’d be bad at. So just. Writing. See I can plot without writing, that’s why I’m good at that lmao

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Sure! Hell yeah! I’m gonna do that! I have done that! I love it, I love languages. Though translations are appreciated. Though I think it should be for emphasis, more so than just writing it in the language just for the hell of it (though like I had a wip where all the spoken dialogue was to be in Russian because there was so little of it and it was simple enough that I could do that, but i lost my notes for it). I think if it’s just normal dialogue and the pov character knows the language, it’s best to just add like, “they said in Finnish” to the dialogue tag, especially if there’s a lot of it. 

In my personal opinion, also when the character doesn’t know the language, I probably wouldn’t write it out? But then if a character knew the basics of the language and it was maybe one sentence I would write it in the language. Or if it was a really important line, like someone telling another character they love them in their native language, or a culturally significant thing, like, idk the adoption vow in mando'a in the Star Wars universe. But sometimes it’s also just fun to show off your own language skills! So overall, strongly encouraged. Just. Try not to use Google Translate (etc.) for it jfajfasjdn

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Hhooo. Probably the Ginga-fandom, but that one was so brief it barely counts, so I’ll say HTTYD because of the crossover thing. If it’s just fanfic without crossing it over with my own original work lol then Hetalia. 

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

TRAITOR’S GLORY!!!!!! I got to talk about my rather niche but intense area of interest in it, which is Soviet POWs in Finland during the Continuation War 1941-1944. Well, that’s the finished one at least, there are some snippets of WIPs I’ve not posted nor finished that are also very good. Imo. But. Yeah. Most of the other favourite stuff I have, concerning my fics, hasn’t been written. So. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But Traitor’s Glory is pretty nice. :)  Thanks again for the tag! this is the only thing i'm going to say on the matter. i am so beyond fucking done with this situation that it's not even funny. i have tried to stay out of this. for days i have ignored the drama and tried to let mars handle it on her own, but we have reached a point where the harassment needs to stop.

for the past few days, mars and i have been dealing with the fallout from a very disgruntled user looking for attention. i am making a point not to use any identifying name/url in this post to emphasize the fact that i am not trying to send hate in this person's direction. they are a minor and it is obvious that there are a multitude of mental health issues at play.

mars has made an attempt to handle this privately at every stage only to be repeatedly blasted on this user's account in public. after three days of nonstop harassment i have run out of patience. neither she or i wanted to drag this out, but this situation has spiraled out of control.

again, i do not want this person to receive hate on behalf of mars and i, but this behavior needs to come to an end. i am sick and tired of being sent screenshots and being asked what's going on.

we do not want to be associated with this person and we have made every effort to get them to stop. there's nothing that the two of us want more than for this person to stop making posts about us and contacting us, but they are continuing to make a spectacle.

the only reason i am making this post is to counter the absolutely insane narrative this person is spinning. i feel like at this point, our shared mutuals deserve a full explanation. i'm actually mind-boggled that it's escalated to this point.

i will not be making any more posts in reference to this situation because the user in question has taken several opportunities to try and derail us. i will not discuss the specific things that have been said in an attempt to avoid being attacked further, although it is significant to note that these claims are untrue and honestly balls to the wall crazy for anybody who has actually met the two of us....

despite the hate and harassment that has been flung at my wife (and by extension myself and another mutual friend), we have not reciprocated. in fact, i have never once interacted with this user. i never followed them back, i never exchanged a single message with them, i never even VISITED THEIR BLOG.

to claim that i have spoken with them, much less insulted this person is a complete lie - they have sent three messages to my ask box and i deleted every single one of them within 5 minutes of having received them.

in my opinion, the best way to handle people who display attention-seeking and manipulative behavior in this way is to block and ignore them. i did that. AND TWO DAYS LATER i am still receiving screenshots and notifications from this drama. the user keeps blocking and re-blocking both mars and i as well as commenting on our mutuals posts.

again, to emphasize: a VERY concerted effort was made to avoid this tumblr user entirely. i have not ever and still do not wish ill will upon this person, but i never had any interest in developing a parasocial relationship with them seeing as our content didn't align and the way they interacted with mars was offputting from the start. "the vibes were off" if you will...

i don't know what else to do to get this person to leave us alone. they are now making threats of suicide and claiming that it is "our" fault. i do not know how else to handle this. myself and multiple others have reported the blog to tumblr staff already.

all mars and i want at this point is for the harassment to end. there doesn't feel like a clear way to wrap this up. i just wanted to give an account of this from my point of view since it has become public despite myself and mars' attempts to contain it.

i suggest that you do not leave comments on this post as it will likely make you a target for harassment. if you DM me privately i will explain the full story. this never should have been posted publicly to begin with.

heyyy um i got a few new followers from, im assuming, the general population migration from twitter to here in the past few days and i just wanted 2 give the new folks a lil welcome greeting so.....welcome 2 my Home Page if u are one of those people im glad u like whatever i have to offer on here lol ✌️ idk how many people are completely new to tumblr in general or how many are like, tumblr users as well who either used both and decided to stick with this one over the other or are returning because of how batshit horrible it is Over There At The Bird Shit Site rn but just as a general bit of information, this has been my "personal" blog since i was 13 in 2010 so there is definitely not any kind of concrete theme or specific type of stuff i post, i've always used it pretty much as the one online social media site where i feel like i can actually be my authentic self, so sometimes i do unintentionally ramble about random stuff on my mind or a really bad day i've had or frustrations having to do with my disabilities; i did a lot more of that as a teenager and it honestly became Not A Great Coping Method for me at the time so i try not to info dump about negative stuff in my personal life on here like i did years ago, but unfortunately because i do have a lot of overlapping issues with both physical, neurological and mental health sometimes i'm just having a real bad day and this blog ends up being the only place i feel comfortable enough in the moment to rant. i just figured it's worth mentioning in case anyone is bothered or if that is a potential trigger for other peoples' own individual struggles, these days if i just really need to get something off my chest and feel like this is the only place where i can do that it's usually regarding medical health problems/symptoms that i'm not coping well with.

i think a few people may have followed me/found this blog from my 'as seen on my disney princess tv' posts that i like to do on here, so if you are one of those new followers, hello and thank you so much for encouraging that fun hobby of mine!! i mention it every once in a while but if you're new here you wouldn't know obviously; i am always super happy to take suggestions or requests for specific movies/shows/media that people would like to see me play on the pink princess tv and make a fancy photoset of, so i will always be open to requests for that whether its by sending a message in my inbox, leaving a reply on a post or even just like, tagging my username on a post for a specific piece of media and being like 'you should make a tv post for this', feel free to do any of those if u would like to!!

one last thing for this post i promise, this one is more of a request of my own and it's largely out of my control but i wanted to quickly say it at some point; i've never used twitter for any amount of time more than like 5 minutes 10 years ago (and a throwaway account i have for the purpose of making lobby note sketches in Splatoon games since u have to post them to twitter to put them in the game which is very silly to me), so i'm very unfamiliar with the general 'thread' type post format that seems to be the norm on there, but in this past week my blog here keeps getting "mentioned" in posts that have nothing to do with me by people i do not know because its a one word pretty widespread first name, and im not mad or anything about it, but it is really annoying honestly and i know nobody is doing it intentionally so i just wanted to let folks know: if you use the @ symbol in pretty much any text on this site except like, the tags of a post, and someone's blog url/username exists on here, it will tag that user in your post (including instances like replying in the comment reply part of a post that you didn't originally post yourself) even if there's more to the username before or after the part with an active url in it (for example, one instance from this week i got unintentionally tagged in started with 'mariska' and then had an underscore with some other words past that, so my account was automatically tagged and i got a notification that i was mentioned in a post even though it was just that first 'mariska' section of the username). i just wanted to ask everyone who may not be used to the different format style of posts on here vs shorter twitter threads to be aware of that Being A Thing, because it's already happened quite a few times and i do get notified of it every time i would very much appreciate not being brought into random posts via unintentional url mentions and i will most likely just block people if it continues to happen because i'm legitimately concerned that at some point it could end up being a case of my url being mentioned in a post or reply that is actively triggering to my mental health or includes disturbing content or something like that, thankfully that hasn't been the case so far, but just please double check that you aren't tagging a tumblr user in something before you post or reply; a good way to know if you unintentionally have done that is if the word typed after the @ is like, a lighter gray than the regular black default text, and also if you go to post something and you're not sure if someone's blog got tagged in it, an easy way to check is to first save that post as a draft (there should be a click/tap drop menu next to the 'post' button on both mobile and desktop versions of this site, if you bring up that menu it'll show a few different options like 'save as draft', 'add to queue', etc) and then go into your account's drafts and see if the post has that light gray url mention link in it, it should un-link the tagged person if you do something like adding a space between the @ and the username or using a backslash before the username like @/examplename.

Submission Guidelines

These guidelines can be used to help Giftors and Treat Creators prepare their works and submit them to the 2022 DCU Rarepair Exchange Collection. If you have any difficulty, please feel free to send an ask or contact your moderator; we’re more than happy to help you with the process.

The Collection is currently open to receive submissions.

1. Prepare your draft. Ensure you have proofread and edited your work, or had a beta review it before uploading.

2. Post to the Collection. Navigate to the Collection, and click the ‘Post to Collection’ button in the top righthand corner. This will take you to a new Post page where you can prepare your upload. Please ensure you are in the 2022 Collection.

3. Prepare your tags. Enter your rating, any applicable warnings, fandoms, categories, relationships, characters and additional tags. Please note that your relationship tag may not yet exist; type both characters full names as you would if there were a tag available, and hit enter. If you are on mobile, you may need to leave the relationship sitting in the field and hit the preview/post button to have it create the tag.

4. Prepare your preface. Choose a work title and the pseud you wish to post under. Your work will automatically be posted under ‘Anonymous’ for the first week of Releases, until the Reveal Date (October 8th for Giftors, October 10th for Treat Creators). Mods will reveal your work; you do not need to do anything other than post as normal to the Collection. While you are Anonymous, you will still be able to comment on your work, and any comment replies will be shown as from ‘Anonymous Creator’ until Reveals. 

Write your summary, and notes as normal. You are welcome to write a short note to your Giftee in the notes section if you wish. Please be careful not to “sign” your work with your username, or link to any socials until after Reveals have passed, in order to maintain your anonymity. If you are an artist, please do not include any creator watermarks on your work; after Reveals, you are welcome to reupload an image with your watermark. 

5. Prepare your associations. The ‘Post to Collections’ field should already be prefilled with “DCU_Rarepair_Exchange_2022″; if not, please enter it before posting. Enter your Giftee’s username in the ‘Gift this work to’ section; this information should be on the Giftor Assignment card you were sent. 

6. Prepare your work text. Change the format from HTML to Rich Text and copypaste your work over. If you are a writer, format your work as normal. 

If you are an artist, upload your image to a private site; we would suggest posting the image privately on your Tumblr blog to host the image, or posting the image to a private Discord server channel (or in the DMs with your moderator), etc. Do not post your image publicly. Right click your private image and retrieve the URL. Click the image icon on the AO3 text editor and past the URL as the Source, then save. 

If you do not wish to post your work to AO3, please contact a moderator so that we can coordinate the anonymous delivery of your Gift to its Giftee. 

7. Post your work. Your work will be sent to the back of the Collection to await moderation. Once a mod has reviewed and approved your work, we will send you a notification to let you know it has been safely received and posted anonymously. Treat Creators will not receive a notification. Your work cannot be approved in draft stage; you must ‘Post’ your work before it can be reviewed. 

Your work will appear in the Collection as a ‘Mystery Work’ until Release; it will not appear in your archive until Reveals. If you need to make any edits to your work at any time, navigate to your Statistics page; your work should be among the works listed, click the title to access the work for editing. 

8. Wait for Release. We will be posting a Release schedule closer to the end of the month. This schedule will tell you when you can expect your Giftee to receive their Gift, and when you can expect to receive your own Gift. Works will be released over a five day period from October 1st, with eleven Gifts released per day. Treats will begin to be released on October 6th. 

Be sure to edit your work on the day of Release. Scroll to the Associations section, and tick the ‘Set a different publication date’ box. Enter today’s date to ensure your work appears at the top of the Collection. 

9. Wait for Reveals. Giftors will be automatically revealed by the mods on October 8th. Treat Creators will be revealed from October 10th. At this point, the work will appear in your archive, and your subscribers will receive their notification email. 

Once works have been revealed, you are welcome to promote your works on your social platforms. If you are promoting your works on Tumblr or Twitter, please @dcu-rarepair so that we can share it to the blog.

My main WIP has the placeholder title The Rising Royals, but I'm really disliking that name, so hopefully I can come up with something better soon.

And then after I created my own beware journal I got comments from an Account named Anti-esai who created this journal: Do not trust a karen username named Illia-Mae by Anti-Esai on DeviantArt (archive.is) - Supposedly, stating that I was "forcing" max to report richard when I was suggesting/recommending. Recommending something isn't "Forcing", btw.

After that journal was posted I created my report with that account and 3 others including the main account asking staff to REVIEW IT.. they deemed the anti - esai was breaking dA rules being a ban evader, Didn't state that it was his account but it was banned nonetheless ; However when Richard here created an account called Anti-Spinninganansi after his prime got SUSPENDED and sent me a note stating "go ahead and suspend me". Tell me you're richard without telling me your richard . and spinning a note asking for his "manager" - It was deemed by the staff that he was indeed suspension evading and therefore banned.

Friday 7 August 1998 and Saturday 8 August 1998 - Double feature - overfull compartment to Zürich with the Sommer Spezial - Street Parade Energy 98 - a day full of whistles

Friday 7 August 1998 Hi everyone Are you all keeping cool, reasonably hydrated and safe from natural disasters? Some parts of the USA are experiencing heat waves, and others may also be experiencing heavy rain. As for Europe, from this Wednesday the 8th August it should cool down. I heard about the 110+ F / 45+ C temperatures in Spain / Portugal. Temperatures you would expect in Las Vegas.

I would like to take a moment with my twenty year stories, and kind of look back on an incident that took place in Tanzania and in Kenya. And we would soon learn of an entity which would shake up the USA about three years later under a different presidential administration. But if you are reading this, then I have survived. The events took place about 9:30 AM Munich time. I wanted to be as objective as I can about this. It is a tragedy indeed, that any building representing the USA overseas permanent diplomatic mission, is bombed in an otherwise peaceful nation. To not name the individuals or groups, for reasons of not giving them any publicity, I leave it to the reader, to look up the 7th August 1998 Nairobi or Dar Es Salaam. I also do not want to comment on the US government at the time, their actions after this incident, pair of embassy bombings, I think if you are interested to know the details that you might be able to look them up on your own time and draw your own conclusions.

I consider myself lucky to only hear about the incident on the radio news and in the Abendzeitung (evening newspaper), and not have the US Consulate either in München or Frankfurt am Main having been bombed. Otherwise it would no longer be safe for me to remain in Germany that year, and I would not complete my Werkstudenttätigkeit at Widgetmeister International.

So with that in mind, I was glad to know that I had two first class train reservations for Saturday 8th August 1998, from München Hbf to Zürich HB and back, for about 178.00 D-Mark. I also had to get a reservation to the Hotel Rümlang as that was the only online hotel for a cheap price that I could find, I think for CHF 120 including breakfast (CHF 110 without) - because the youth hostel on Mutschellenstrasse 114 in Zürich was fully booked. What happened that day on the train had nothing to do with the actions in Nairobi or Dar Es Salaam. But I was happy to get away from everything and have a good time.

There was not much to say for today, the 8th and 9th I am not sure. Have a good day / afternoon / evening / night.

Saturday 8 August 1998

Its about time for AA 1216 to board so ill leave you with my Saturday 8th August 1998 story, to forget about the days events from Friday the 7th August ????????, at least for the weekend.

That event was certainly frightening to hear about, but it did not change my plans for the weekend of 8th and 9th August to go to Zürich for the Street Parade.

To give a summary of the day's events

woke up about 6;30 AM, took shower, shut off my alarm clock so it would not go off on Sunday the 9th

made sure I had my passport and two train tickets to and from Zürich HB

took bus 37 to Arabellapark, U4 to München Hauptbahnhof

found EC 92 train to Zürich and my compartment in the rear of the train, had total of seven in a compartment meant for six

heard "Jeanny" by Falco on the radio, was a very controversial song in the 1980s

between Buchloe and Memmingen had breakfast on train in restaurant car

was confronted by German border police but no drugs were found

had passport stamped in Bregenz by Austrian border guards

Arrived about 12:30 PM in Zürich HB, went to tracks 21-24 for S-Bahn train to Rümlang via Oerlikon and Glattbrugg ZH

checked into Hotel Rümlang, left clothes bag in room and took S-Bahn to Zürich HB, about 2 PM

toured around the Limmatquai, Bürkliplatz, Paradeplatz, Utoquai, Quaianlagen Park

about 8:30 PM tried to find place to eat in Niederdorferstrasse, everything full, even Johanniter

Did one more walk along Niederdorferstrasse past the Grossmünster

walked to Zürich HB and had a hot dog for dinner, less of a crowd about 10:30 PM

took S-Bahn about 11:15 PM to Rümlang, arrive at hotel about 11:55 PM

sleep That was pretty much my first day in Zürich for that weekend.

The 8th August 1998 was a sunny Saturday morning, where I had planned to go to Zürich for the Street Parade. As there was no room at the Zürich Hostel on Mutschellenstrasse 114, I had to plan for a night at a regular hotel. There were no online bookable hotels that I could find for 8th August in Zürich, that were below 140 CHF, so I found one in Rümlang, on the west side of the Kloten airport runway, for 120 CHF with breakfast. I also had two tickets, 89 D-Mark apiece, to go from München to Zürich, and Zürich to München on the 9th.

I woke up about 6:30 AM, took a shower, had a small snack, took my supply of about six soda cans to add to my nonalcoholic swig bottle (usually coke or similar and Fanta Lemon or Fanta Orange), and shut off my alarm so on Sunday it would not disturb anyone. Then I was ready to go to the bus stop to get to München Hbf. I took the line 37 to Arabellapark, then U-4 to Hauptbahnhof. By the time I arrived on the main line platforms, I found the SBB first class car where my ticket was reserved for. About 8:30 AM the train left, and the compartment was overfilled, namely seven instead of six people. One guy I think was about 19 years old had his girlfriend along, planning to go to the Street Parade. His mother was also in the compartment. It was not easy to get photos from the compartment window, but I managed a few. The train announcement was a failure, all the German portion was garbled or even momentarily cut off, and the English portion was marginally understandable. The audio equipment on the train was not doing well that day.

About 9:15 AM the train arrived in Buchloe, my ticket was punched, and I was free to go to the dining car. The dining car had full service that day. I ordered scrambled eggs with ham and potatoes (similar to those from the song "Chatanooga Choo Choo"). The waiter also served coffee, with one pitcher for coffee and the other for heated milk. That tasted great. The train arrived about 9:40 AM in Memmingen. The German border police made a preemptive search, and while I was eating my breakfast still, two of the men asked me to go into the corridor (this is a true story) and they looked everywhere in my George-Costanza-wallet. ?????????????? They found only D-Mark and some Swiss Francs, but no drugs of any kind. They told me to put everything back the way it was and they let me go back to my breakfast. That was not a particularly fun experience but at least I was free. Most of the rest of the journey went without incident, other than the Austrian border police giving me a stamp in my passport for Bregenz, ????and the Swiss conductor taking a look at my ticket and giving it a punch as well. The train did not stop in Oerlikon, so I had to go to Zürich HB. The train arrived at 12:30 in Zürich HB. I had to go underground to the then-platforms 21 to 24 (now they are 41 to 44) and find the S-Bahn train to Rümlang via Oerlikon and Glattbrugg. Also I had to pay the 8.80 CHF for the 24 hour pass for the Zürich fare zone.

Because I did not know the way to the hotel (no Google in August 1998 and most people did not have cellphones), I asked the way, and a bus driver going off his shift offered to take me there and it was a half mile drive. He did not ask for any money and even when I offered, he declined. The Swiss can be very kind that way. I checked into my room for 120 CHF. It was on the ground floor, no air conditioning but with openable window, and was adjacent to an elementary school that was closed for the summer break. Rümlang other than the planes flying by, due to it being close to the Zürich international airport, was very quiet.

I walked to the Rümlang train station and caught the S-Bahn to Zürich HB. It was full of people headed to the city center. Most were heading towards the General Guisan Quai and Bellevueplatz, about a mile south where the Limmat opens up to Lake Zürich. People were more or less dressed like at the Love Parade in Berlin, that is where I heard about the Street Parade. The day was mostly sunny, I think the temperature was around 85 to 90 F, about 30 to 32 C.

The main point of action is at General Guisan Quai turning at Bellevueplatz on to Utoquai, that is the route of the Lovemobiles, where people are on caged flat-bed trucks travelling about 3 mph. In 1998 they went in a clockwise direction, but every subsequent Street Parade I attended, 2003, 2004 and 2017, they went counterclockwise in the opposite direction. Lovemobiles may have about 30 to 40 people dancing along to music, and between the Lovemobiles, there can be about 100+ people dancing along. One of the difficult jobs are, the Lovemobile drivers, and also the security staff, who make sure that dancers, officially affiliated or not, are kept safe. The Lovemobiles take up the same space as an 18 wheeler truck and must be yielded the right of way that they deserve. Also the police and city janitors have it rough too, keeping the peace and keeping the streets clean (I feel bad for the janitors for the day after, cleaning up the broken glass bottles on the street)

The other places to see music played, are along the Limmatquai, Bürkliplatz, Paradeplatz, and the Niederdorferstrasse. All those were full of pedestrians, and the roads that normally had trams running, they were rerouted for the day. For example, if I wanted to go from the hostel in Wollishofen, I would have to take the tram 7 to the Neue Börse and take the S-4 or S-10 to Zürich HB.

It was so easy to lose sense of time. About 8 PM I was getting hungry and wanted to find somewhere to eat. The Niederdorferstrasse was so full, most places had no seating left. Even the Brasserie Johanniter was full, and maybe there would be a half hour waiting time. So I went back to the Bellevueplatz. About 10:30 PM I decided to call it a day, go back to Zürich HB, and find some place not with such a long line. There was a place selling hot dogs. I had two hot dogs and a Sprite, for about 5.50 CHF. I sat around for a half hour. At 11:10 PM I went to the platforms 21 to 24 for the train to Rümlang. I caught the train and it was still quite full. The train reached Rümlang at 11:35 PM and I walked back to the hotel. It must have been 11:55 PM when I reached my room. There was no curfew but I had to use my key to enter from the outside.

My room had a color TV with international channels. I watched a bit of the Swiss channels, then M6 with French videos, such as"Cruel Summer" with Alliage and Ace of Base, same people who sang "all that she wants", "Soirée Disco" by Boris https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg5YSG_SDac, "Je danse le MIA" by IAM and "This is how we party" by Soap. I went to sleep around 1:10 AM. That was one long day and I was worn out from so much walking and dancing and such.

Next is a nice relaxing morning at the hotel, roundabout journey in the Forch valley and back through Uster and Stettbach, lunch at the Brasserie Johanniter, something different on the seasonal menu, journey up to the Uto-Kulm viewing point, and train ride home.

Ten more days of living in Europe and eventually I fly home. I will try to write stories in advance and have them ready on the exact days from 20 years ago. Hope you enjoyed so far. Until next time. Gute Nacht!
