Sometimes whenever I go on Twitter, I feel like the Hunter x Hunter fandom is slowly becoming a little bit like the Genshin fandom and it scares me.

A couple months ago, I saw this post and me being someone who has opinions like everyone else, I replied.

I said "Kurapika isn't trans. Togashi has confirmed several times he's a male." And for some reason, that prompted some (not all) people to jump straight to the conclusion that I am homophobic and/or transphobic for saying that. Not only did that happen, but two people that I used to follow on the app blocked me over this and called me the same thing(s) as well.

Now because they had already blocked me, I didn’t see it when they say things like "oh she had to coming" and "she knew it would happen", etc. behind my back. I only knew about this because one of my friend who follows them was able to see their posts and told me about it.

So lemme just say this and make it very clear: I am someone who sees Kurapika as cisgender and straight. I personally see him being attracted to the opposite sex and identifing as a male. While I understand why some may think and speculate that he's transgender, non binary, etc. due to his androgynous appearance, it doesn't mean that he's genderqueer to me as there are plenty of cisgender people out there that are androgynous. Androgynous ≠ genderqueer.

It's one thing to disagree with my opinion/headcanon. It's another to call me homophobic and/or transphobic and then proceeded to block me afterwards just because you didn’t agree with it. So I just want to say that if you're someone who finds this "opinion/headcanon" of mine to be a problem, please kindly unfollow/block me because I have no room for this type of behavior nor do I have the patience to put up with this kind of shit.

It's OK if you disagree with me, but if you know that you’re going to be disrespectful about it, simply unfollow and/or block me and go on about your day. Thank you.

first thing’s first! everything you see on this blog, ( including character art - icons - icon border - theme - divider - etc.. etc.. ) were all personally drawn, written, & made-up by me, so please kindly do NOT take anything whatsoever. envy’s horror story took indeed many years to develop, but so did every little aesthetic & concept art to match & i’m pretty sure nobody likes their stuff taken.

when it comes to plotting, i’m generally full of ideas but it’s also not very fun to be doing everything alone so please, kindly work with me, especially if you’re the one following me first. likewise, if we’ve only just started interacting & are currently in the middle of plotting, don’t just leave me hanging for days on end because if you’re constantly active on dash & go radio silent... well, i’ll just assume you’re no longer interested. it’s as simple as that. i’ll give around 3-4 days before unfollowing, unless you’re offline.

MUN -//- CHARACTER. please do remember that these two are extremely different. i’m literally nothing like envy nor do i have a creepy eldritch grandma breathing down my neck. the same goes for any potential love interests in threads. what happens in character will always be in character. also, on similar note, i literally feel NO pity whatsoever towards envy & do not approve of the wicked things he says or does so if someone finally kills his yandere ass ─ that’s wholly on him, & i’m completely fine with it.

my only real ‘ taboo ‘ topics are any mentions of d.i.d, cancer or other terminal illnesses. SORRY. accounts revolving around such are going to be avoided, as none of those will ever be taken lightly ─ far too personal / heavy of a topic.

since this blog is currently on semi-hiatus, from time to time i’ll disappear for few days ( or even weeks ) due to life being life, but usually it’s nothing major & i’ll promptly return. no worries. anything as big as a hiatus shall be notified on dash & even so, i’ll eventually return anyway. ~

A little long thing on censorship and boundaries on the internet

Okay prefacing this by saying this post is only written for tumblr and ao3. If you go beyond those I have no knowledge for you unfortunately, but maybe people can chime in in the notes.

Starting off, each person is responsible for controlling their own internet experience. We’re lucky that tumblr does not have an algorithm that forces unexpected things onto your dash (aside from blazed posts and based on your likes, but more on that later). You are in complete control of the content that appears on your dash, based on who you follow. Likewise, on ao3 you’re able to filter searches so you see what you want to see, and no one is making you click on the things you don’t. No one owes you anything with their content, aside from the ability to avoid it if you choose.

Follow up, you are responsible for making your content avoidable for people who don’t want to see it. If you’re writing the kinkiest fic out there, that’s fine. That’s yours to write and share as you wish. But you’re responsible for tagging it so that people who aren’t after that kind of material don’t see it if they want to. That way you get people who are happy to see/read your works, and people aren’t confronted with 50 Shades of Gray when they were really just looking for some PG hand holding.

Basic tags for those who aren’t used to tagging systems are whether it’s NSFW, any particular kinks, and any potential triggers (things like gore, underage, no con, suicide- if there’s an archive warning for it on ao3, it’s probably something you should tag so people can avoid it). Make sure that you spell the thing out without typos or euphemisms or @ny w31Rd $tuff that would lead to it NOT being filtered. (We don’t Unalive here, we kill, and Unalive will show up even when kill has been filtered out.)

What if someone I follow reblogs something that I don’t want to see or find problematic? If it’s something specific you’re trying to avoid, tumblr has tag filtering. You can block tags related to that thing, and it won’t show up on your dash uncensored. In case you ever want to see what’s behind that censor in spite of the tag, you’ll have the option to view it anyway- you won’t miss that the post exists entirely. If it’s something that hasn’t been tagged, it might be a good idea to (kindly!! Respectfully!!) request that the person tag it appropriately. If they refuse, you might want to unfollow them so you don’t have to see it anymore.

I unfollowed someone whose content bothered me, but my mutuals keep reblogging it so I still see it on my dash. You can block them! Then reblogs won’t show up on your dash, no matter how many mutuals reblog it. Blocking someone does nothing to them- try not to see it as something aggressive or offensive. You have the right to control what you see online, and blocking is a way to do that more effectively. You can always unblock them later if you change your mind!

Things from people I don’t follow keep showing up on my dash. This could be a couple of things. If it says “based on your likes!” or “tags you follow”, that’s something you can disable in settings (I can edit this post later with the exact locations) and tumblr won’t show you those anymore. That said, those are still subject to tag filtering, so that’s also a good approach if you don’t want those things to go away completely.

Now that blazed posts are around, there’s a chance you might get something you don’t like through that, but I’m not sure if there’s a way to filter those out. I haven’t seen a blazed post from tags I block yet, so… so far so good? If anyone knows, please chime in!!

Some content shouldn’t exist online, even if it can be blocked/filtered/avoided. This is the most important point on this post. I do think that some things shouldn’t exist online. My mother also thinks some things shouldn’t exist online. However, we don’t agree on what those things are, and we both agree that there are some cases where we would make exceptions to our rules. If we start purging content that we don’t agree with, it’s going to become a question of who is disagreeing with the content. Gotta be honest folks, in that scenario, I’m pretty sure the voices that get listened to will be straight, cis, and white.

TL;DR: Internet freedom disappears when we allow censorship, but we do still need to protect each others’ boundaries when we’re online. The best way to do that is to tag your content (no tag limits on tumblr or ao3, so don’t hold back! Only the first five count for searches on tumblr but the rest can be used for filtering blocked tags), block and filter things you don’t want to interact with, and unfollow or block people who you can’t trust to respect boundaries.

Let me be clear. I wasn’t going to respond to this because I simply didn’t care that you felt the need to try and bring me down while playing a fun ask game.

I told a few friends I received this and they were outraged. Which is probably exactly what you wanted. I’m not mad or angry or upset. My response was “worse things have happened to me than someone hiding behind the anonymous button to bully me”. I don’t care that you felt the need to send this, I just wanted to show that this behaviour is NOT okay. And lately it feels like so many people are receiving messages with intentions of being hurtful that it is creating a toxic space.

You curate your own experience, if you feel I am not for you I take no offence to that. You can unfollow me, because someone else will find my blog and connect with me and my stories and personality and those are the people I would like following me.

So if you sent this thinking you’re getting a reaction out of me. You’re not. I am setting an example of you to show that this toxic cyberbullying is alive and well in this fandom space and I feel sorry for those that feel the need to participate in it. I would like to further say it is not okay and anon hate in the future will be blocked and reported for bullying.

This next line is affirmation for myself, for the split second you let me believe you. I am honest and genuine and kind to a fault. I know that about myself, it is one of my greatest strengths and weaknesses, but you are not welcome to take advantage of that or try and bully that out of me.

Please consider taking some time to self reflect and see that you’re attacking someone who is harmlessly trying to create a community space where we all know and love similar things. I hope in future you receive everything that you deserve and find ways to act kindly to those around you.

Le Rules

1)Patience is a must. I work two jobs, 50+ hours a week, and am prone to bouts of depression, so don’t pester me for replies. I’m typically slow with things. If you are a fast paced RP blog that drops threads when people take too long to reply, please don’t bother wasting my time starting something.

2) This is a multi-ship blog. I’m pretty open to ships, but they have to feel natural and build up to it. I’m also not against doing smut, but it’s the same sort of deal.

3) This blog is strictly 18+ and is extremely trigger heavy. It may contain sex, gore, violence, torture, lots of foul language, and other dark themes. Please let me know if you have any triggers so I can tag them, otherwise I generally don’t.

4) I’m fluid with length, but I can’t do one liners. It’s not enough for me to go off of. That being said, I don’t mind if you don’t keep up with my length at all, as long as you give me a paragraph.

5) This blog is mutuals only. I'm fairly selective because I have so little time to write(especially with ocs), so if I don't follow back within a few days, you should assume that I don't have time to write with you at this time. Likewise, if you don't follow back or respond in anyway when I follow you, I'll assume you don't want to write with me, and unfollow after a week.

6) Absolutely no drama is tolerated. Call-outs will be ignored. I’m not going to take the time to read five pages of both sides and figure out who is in the wrong. I’m an adult, long since out of highschool. Nor do I take kindly to people telling me who I can and cannot follow. This is my blog. Have a problem with someone? Just block them and move on. I will ignore drama and take no one’s side. Blogs that try and tell me who I cannot follow, or who try to drag me into it, will be soft blocked.

7) No homophobia, racism, sexism, or any kind of discrimination allowed.

8) Replies always come in order, except if we have multiple threads. I will try and give everyone replies, before getting to secondary threads. I’m very OCD and wanna be fair to everyone. I also always have muse for all of my muses.

9) Starter Calls: I will post them rarely since I’m very busy. If you like a starter call you need to specify both mine and your muse(if you’re a multi muse blog), otherwise I won’t do it. I hate it when people waste my time, so if you like it, I expect you’re serious about RPing with me. If I write you a starter and you don’t reply within a month, I will take it that you wasted my time, and I will hard block you. So don’t like a starter call if you aren’t serious in the first place. Bea, i do think you should tag the Sumeru posts with something for the other anon's request.

It's not that people don't agree with you or that they want to ignore the issue. Sometimes they agree so much that it physically hurts to see that any of the problems are even being argued about.

As an autistic person, i'll sometimes see something- a heated discussion about certain topics, and even if the entire community is agreeing on an issue caused by the developer, it hurts me to see that the issue existed in the first place and that it hurt or caused strong emotions in other people.

It won't hurt you to tag a post to make someone else feel more comfortable. They're likely aware of the issue but don't have the mental/emotional capacity to handle it right at this moment. Majority of people will still see the post, and it'll be the people who will actually be able to do something about it too. It won't go against your morals and beliefs because you will still be getting the message out.

Please, i ask very kindly and respectfully, tag the Sumeru posts for the anon :)

it’s not my responsibility to protect you from things that are upsetting to see. respectfully, we’re complete strangers and while i’m sure you’re a wonderful person, we have no relationship and i don’t particularly care to have one with you. the conversation about sumeru is important and needs to happen, whether you find it upsetting or not.

it’s not easy to see your favorite media being criticized. it’s hard to comprehend that something you love, that something you find comfort in, can be problematic. but it’s empowering to step back and be able to recognize that, yeah, something needs to change. you’re free to block out the discussion as much as you want but if you are, i kindly ask that you unfollow me and no longer interact with me because frankly, i want to surround myself with people who are willing to educate themselves and take action, no matter how upsetting it can be.

i’m a political person!! i always have been and i always will be. bettering humanity is what I’m passionate about — i’m literally minoring in political science because i want to make a change in the world. no one is forcing you to follow and interact with me. i’m not a library for your viewing pleasure, i’m a real human with morals and ethics and if you don’t align with them, i don’t want you reading my stories.

what mihoyo is doing is harmful and i’m going to continue to speak on this until something changes. when you don’t hold companies, people, or organizations accountable for the constant harm they’re inflicting on people, they’ll continue to do it. this is MY platform and MY blog and i have every right to talk about what i want in any way i want.

if you don’t have the emotional capacity to comprehend what’s happening, then maybe you shouldn’t be on the internet right now. i’m not trying to be mean but if people calling out the racist actions of a capitalist company is making you so upset that you need to hide it from yourself, maybe there’s something deeper you need to ask yourself. why is it making you so upset? is it because its something you find comfort in getting rightfully criticized? is it because you don’t think it’s a big deal? is it because you share the same racist mindset (even subconsciously)?

one last thing: continue to uplift the voices of those who are directly affected (ie — middle eastern people, people of color, south asians, muslims and arabs. basically anyone who is being harmed by this), continue to argue against mihoyo on social media and with emails, think about who you want to financially support during these times, and educate yourself

In light of a new awfull trend across the RPC: I don't send any anonymous messages ever. If you receive any form of hateful message with my name attached, ignore and delete it. Without a doubt, it is someone looking to impersonate me, in hopes of sparking controversy. It is a shame this has to be addressed.

I'm a big supporter of 'tag & curate your online experience', 'ship and let ship', 'don't like don't read' (Dead dove don't eat), 'fiction can affect reality, but it will never be that', 'shipping/fandom isn't activism'. If you have any issues with these things, then this blog might not be for you.

I do send in passwords/anything that the mun requires, to let them know I have read their rules. But, unless specified, I'll only do that AFTER being followed back. Because I don't wish to make it seem like I'm "pressuring" them to follow/interact with me.

I’m strongly against the idea of “if we’re mutuals, then we’re immediately friends!” (as it promotes an unhealthy sense of overfamiliarity, and it has put me in awkward situations in the past). So please, don’t go around calling me a friend, unless we’ve known each other and have been in constant contact for quite some time. It’s nothing against anyone, that’s just how I roll.

On following: If I don’t get followed back in my actual rp blogs after an week or so, I’ll take that as the person’s way of saying they aren’t interested and I’ll unfollow & softblock if they only followed the hub! Of course, I may contact the person in case they have already answered to my asks or other things.

If you’re someone who keeps adding new muses every other day, or is always making new blogs and quickly abandoning old ones (aka drifters or blog-hoppers). Then, it’s very unlikely we will mesh well as writing partners. It’s nothing personal, but this sort of thing doesn’t work well with me. I need rping partners, who wish to stick around for the long run. I can’t and won’t keep up with muns, who are always doing those things and clearly have other things in mind for RPing.

florence pugh x fem!reader

summary: you and florence had been dating for a while. when she posts you on her Instagram, you receive a bunch of hate comments and florence defends you and your relationship.

Dating Florence Pugh has been one of the greatest decisions you have ever made in your life. You both have managed to keep your relationship lowkey until she randomly posts you on her Instagram. It was a photo of you looking at this mountain view at sunset from the balcony. She captioned it “My happy place.”

Your heart started to race as soon as you saw a photo of yourself on her Instagram-- and the fact that she tagged you almost made you pass out.

You looked through her comments and let’s just say most of it wasn't what you would have expected. Some were positive-- for example, there were comments that read:

“OH MY GOSH IT CONFIRMED! I'M SO HAPPY”

“I’m so proud of you <3”

“You guys are the absolute cutest!”

Then, there were comments that weren’t so positive. It was a mixture of homophobic comments and comments that said “Florence deserves better.”

Of course, they hurt, but you didn’t mind at first and chose to focus on the more positive comments.

A couple days pass and you also decide to post Florence on your Instagram. As you hit “post,” your phone instantly started buzzing with notifications. Again, the comments were all a mixture of the positives and the negatives. However, you wanted to focus on the positive side and ignored the comments.

You posted Florence on your Instagram story, and you received a lot of DM’s. Although you don’t open your DM’s, you decided to check just for the hell of it. As soon as you swiped to your message requests, you instantly regretted swiping.

“Kill yourself. You don’t deserve Florence.”

Tears started to well up in your eyes, but you quickly wiped them away when you heard Florence come into the living room.

“Dinner’s ready, darling,” she says, holding a wooden spoon.

“Hm? Oh, right. I’ll be there in a sec,” you respond.

“Is everything alright, love?” she walks towards you with a concerned look on her face.

You take a deep breath. “Yes, everything’s fine.” You clench your jaw hoping Florence would drop the subject.

She pouts and looks at you with worry. Florence knows every little detail about you. She knows that nothing is ever “fine,” when it follows with you clenching your jaw. However, Florence doesn’t like to overstep on your boundaries, so she drops the subject and figures she’ll ask you later.

“Alright, love. C’mon, let's eat. I’ve made your favorite,” she says, giving you a soft smile.

You loved Florence’s cooking and you always made sure to compliment her dishes whenever she cooked. However, tonight was quiet. The two of you sat in silence, quietly eating your dinner.

You were grateful that Florence knew to get off your back whenever you were in a mood. That’s one of the things that you appreciated most about her, her ability to understand your emotions and how you cope with them.

You knew that she would eventually ask you what happened as you have both communicated that suffering in silence wasn’t healthy.

You finished dinner early and asked yourself to be excused. You headed to bed as soon as you finished your meal. Florence stayed in the kitchen to tidy up and to give you some more space.

Laying on your side, you couldn’t help but to grab your phone and scroll through your notifications. As hurt as you were already, you were too stubborn to gain some self-control. As terrible as that message was, your comment section got even worse. Not only was it filled with homophobic comments, but you were also getting sent death threats. You had checked Florence’s account and pressed on your photo. You noticed that she turned off the comments.

You felt the bed behind you dip as an arm wrapped around your torso.

“Hi,” Florence whispers, and she rests her chin on your shoulder.

“Hi,” you weakly respond. You sigh as you turn your phone off and place it on the bedside table. You turn around in Florence’s arm and face her.

Florence gave you a worried smile and she wiped the tears on your face. You were so busy scrolling through the hate comments that you hadn’t noticed that tears were falling from your eyes.

“Oh, my love.” Florence places a gentle kiss on your forehead. She then looks at you with worry in her eyes. Florence couldn’t imagine what was going through your mind.

“I know you saw the comments,” she begins, “I saw them too. As soon as I saw the hate comments, I immediately turned them off.”

You sniffled and took a deep breath. “I got death threats,” you say, your voice breaking.

“What?” Florence says, appalled. Florence could feel her heart race and feel herself be filled with rage.

“That’s it, I’m making a post, this is unbelievable,” Florence says getting up to get her phone.

“No, please, you don’t have to,” you plead, “it’ll only make things worse.”

“No it won’t, Y/n, I promise you,” Florence says, already typing in her notes.

“You can’t promise me something that you have no control over,” you say coldly.

Florence pauses. She looks over at you, takes a deep breath and pouts. She stares at you for a while, studying your face. Florence is the type of person to defend the people she loves and doesn’t care if it will give her a bad rep. You just so happen to be one of the people that Florence loves, and she will do whatever it takes to defend you and her love for you.

“It doesn’t matter, what matters is that someone I love is being sent death threats, so please, let me say something,” she says, reaching for your hand.

“I really don’t deserve you,” you sigh.

“You do Y/n, you deserve every bit of me as much as I deserve every bit of you,” Florence says, caressing your cheek.

A few days passed and Florence posted a video on her Instagram regarding the hate you had been receiving.

“To my “fans,” who have sent a tremendous amount of hate to my girlfriend, Y/n, kindly unfollow me. I do not need your negativity towards my relationship with her. The hate you throw at her is hate you throw at me. The death threats you throw at her, are also death threats you throw at me. It is not your place to tell me who I should and should not love, nor is it any of your business. I do not appreciate the comments you have thrown at her. She does not deserve it, and nor do I. I am happy with Y/n. She makes me a better person. So please, leave my relationship alone and stop sending my girlfriend death threats. I will not ask again.”

After watching the video, you were in shock. Even if you had talked about it a couple days prior, you still didn’t expect that she would actually post it. Florence kept the comments on and fortunately, it was filled with massive support from other celebrities. You were grateful.

Florence had an interview with Jimmy Kimmel this week to discuss her recent and future projects. Of course, her video regarding your relationship was a topic of discussion. You stayed backstage and watched Florence’s interview from her dressing room.

“Okay, I think everyone here has seen the video that you had recently posted regarding your relationship,” Jimmy says.

“Yeah, I hope so,” Florence chuckles nervously.

“So tell me, if you’re comfortable, why you had said what you needed to say?” he asks.

“Did you watch the video?” Florence says sarcastically, earning a couple laughs from the crowd. “Um, I figured that I needed to. I mean my girlfriend was getting sent death threats for no apparent reason and it needed to stop.” This earned Florence a clap from the audience.

“That’s fair. God, the internet is so toxic, isn’t it?” Jimmy complains.

“Yeah,” Florence agreed. “Y/n and I had been dating for a while now and we’d managed to keep it lowkey. I just thought that when I’d finally posted her that I wouldn’t receive such horrid comments. Which is why I felt the need to address this because I hate seeing the people I love get hurt.”

A couple people from the crowd “Awwed”

“So, tell me what it is about Y/n that just makes you so in love with her?” Jimmy asked curiously.

Florence smiled as she thought about the things that she loved most about you. “Her smile was something that caught my eyes right off the bat. She has such a kind smile and I would do everything just to keep her smiling.”

The crowd “Awwed” again.

“Also, Y/n is so loving. She won’t admit it because she likes to be that “tough” person on the outside, but inside she’s a big softie. She gives the best cuddles. I also love how she makes me tea every time I come home from filming.”

“Aww, that must be nice. I think we all need a Y/n in our life, right?” Jimmy says.

The camera pans to the crowd who was cheering and nodding their heads.

“Well, too bad, Y/n is only one person and I’m the lucky girl who has her,” Florence says wittily.

The crowd laughed and clapped.

“Alright, well it was lovely having you, Florence,” Jimmy says, shaking Florence’s hand. “And that’s all for tonight, we’ll see you tomorrow!”

On the ride home, you rested your head on Florence’s shoulders.

“You really had to call me out, didn’t you?” you ask.

“Yeah, maybe just a little,” Florence says, making a gesture.

You chuckle and look at her. “Did I ever tell you that you are the most beautiful woman I’d ever laid my eyes on?”

“Yes, Y/n, you tell me everyday,” she says, grabbing your cheek.

You smile and close the gap between you. Florence melts into the kiss and moves her hand to the back of your head, running her hands through your hair. You pull away to catch some air and Florence rests her forehead against yours.

“I love you, Flo. Thank you for everything.”

“I love you too Y/n. and don’t thank me, you know I’ll always protect you.”
