i think one of the reasons i find rick so compelling as an autistic character is that a bunch of his autistic traits are not treated as either purely good or bad but instead a mix of both. or just neutral parts of him as a person.
like on one hand his tendency to hyperfixate on things heavily contributes to his creativity and problem solving when it comes to his inventions and schemes. but he also often gets far too carried away and it ends up causing issues later down the line (eg: gotron)
like its very refreshing to see a character whose autistic traits arent … mutually exclusive. it makes him feel more real and less like a caricature

anyone else have like an extreme ego of how good their ocs and their story could be, coupled with the extreme insecurity that you cant possibly write anything that lives up to the concept so you wish you could give them to someone else

I think the only way to truly complete Buggy's character arc is to have him become the Pirate King by accident.
It's the Apprentice -> Captain -> Warlord -> Emperor -> Pirate King pipeline...
I need him to keep winning and I need it to be completely unintentional.

the ellis debate has gone on for so long “hes not dumb hes just silly” “hes not silly hes just stupid” here is my take. hes just dedicated to The Bit above all else. hes a lil dumb but more than that he is just off the shits simply for the fun of it. my man is just here for a good time not a long time and puts all hes got into it🫡

TW: discussion about the suicide attempt in season 2 of The Wilds
————————————————————————
The second Leah said “I don’t think I meant to like end it all,” I knew how the rest of that sentence would end.
“I just wanted to stop the feeling” is a thought that many, many people who have struggled with their mental health have had, myself included.
And I just gotta say, having that character, the character:
-whose mental health is used as both comedic relief and a serious obstacle (an accurate reflection of how many of us view our own mental health struggles, depending on the circumstances)
-who is known by her peers as both very intelligent and mentally unstable (but like affectionately)
-whose entire arc this season was internal, focused on trying to maintain a sense of sanity when placed in a decidedly not-sane situation
-who starts the season with an attempt on her own life
that character is the one who ends the season with an flashback reveal montage of her plan, the one who realizes something is off before anyone else, the one who takes on some seriously mind-fuck half formed theories and actually comes close to unraveling the whole plot.
Leah being the galaxy brain character is so important because on the days when I feel like just because I have Sad Thoughts TM and Significant Personal Trauma TM, I’ll never be able to have the career/relationships/life I want, I can remember that Leah Rilke hallucinated the object of her sexual awakening playing a piano and used that to plot and scheme her way past some Very Smart Adults.
Idk it just feels important to me that the character who started the season lost in her own mind not only found her way out but also outsmarted some very smart people.

i’ve been back and forth on cirie’s game play (it’s messier than expected but everyone has said that lol, and it tickles me that someone so well known for excellent game play is like, suuuuuper chaotic lmao) but i think one thing she does well is use her innate feelings of compassion to build bonds. she knows she’s a softie who can’t stand to see other people crying but instead of letting her emotions cloud her judgement she uses her feelings to build a bridge with america. i think that’s why she was so close with izzy, izzy wears her heart on her sleeve and cries allll the time and it drew cirie to her. it’s why she managed to fade into the background in a way fe couldnt - cirie spent a week letting people just talk and used the way her natural adoration for other people and their stories re-insulated her against being put up.
i think that’s a mark of a good player more than anything, is not to be an emotionless robot but to acknowledge you have certain feelings & weaknesses and then use your own emotions to help yourself out.
