Tbh I never read that far in DOTC but I heard so much about star flower from fandom that now hearing about it directly from you I feel so cheated. I was promised a femme fatale.. tho in hindsight considering how much these writers hate women I probably shouldn't have gotten my hopes up
I WISH we got a femme fatale. It would have been incredibly cathartic for her to make herself alluring to Clear Sky, turning his worst traits against him and getting both power and revenge. For Thunder to bond to her over it, reaching the conclusion in the end that they both had terrible parents that they need to reject.
but, knowing the Erins, they would have just had Clear Sky kill her violently and gratuitously for ever tricking him. Like how he gouged Willow Tail's eyes out. So... I guess we were doomed either way.
Anyway im cooking

I didn’t like S4 too much because of the lack of build up and how rushed it was, I couldn’t get attached to the characters and it instead showed us someone horrible saying they were going to do good and we find out he (azure) groomed and manipulated people (mk, swk) for his own goals—the finale was okay.
But the fucking SCROLL CURSE? I loved it. I adored it. I wish we had gotten more of the scroll curse and learned more about its punishments and how it worked.
People characterize the scroll but that defeats the entire purpose of it—the curse is not a character. It never was. It’s an object.
The entire point is that it takes the form of whomever it is going to torture and when it takes the form of Monkey!MK it’s so deliciously good! It’s all of MK’s fears and doubts coming back to haunt him, literally, as a physical manifestation. And the way that it keeps all of MK’s strengths and powers is LITERALLY like the Novel version of the Macaque and Sun Wukong fight, except the scroll is just… an object. An artifact that will never be truly defeated seeing as how Azure uses it later in the Season.
It’s so good. And the fact it keeps MK’s voice when talking to Sun Wukong and the crew? Fucking incredible! Because MK’s voice would hurt them the most. Hearing your successor say all of these things? Hearing your best friend say this? Your son?
I adored that part of the season and I wish we could’ve gotten more of it

It's funny how people will say Princess Bubblegum deserved what Winter King did to her like she didn't get multiple episodes learning that being a psychotic controlling dictator for the sake of keeping her people safe isn't a good thing and that instead she deserves 100 years of madness because some nerd decided it would be easier to literally dump his problems on someone else

Lmao. For someone w/ such crippling perfectionism, Bakugo absolutely hates it when you’re mean about something you made. He’ll fight and fight and fight you over it until you at the very least admit you did your best and it’s okay for him to like it in your place.
And it’s a little hard to believe him. He can’t fake a smile for shit nor lighten his voice much less... express things with any couth. YET it’s honestly very sweet the way he pouts, crosses his arms and refuses to change his stance about something very clearly... wrong. Something he very honestly wouldn’t like if he made it himself.
Snatching the lopsided crocheted hat right out of your hands, putting it on his head, and refusing to give it back. Eating a slice and a half of deflated soufflé then having leftovers the next day. Keeping the shitty (joke) birthday card you made him before you were even dating at the bottom of his bedside table dresser until the moths start to eat it (and even then).

me, gearing up to explain why the dragon prince's latest seasons have continued to disappoint me, that while i love the lore and worldbuilding and characters there are clear pacing issues that are so jarring it takes me out of the experience, and that i say all of this with great love for the series but there's only so much good concepts can do before animation has to catch up in order to retain the average viewer's attention. that although season 4 and 5 have been branded as "the mystery of aaravos" the titular character barely appears and that is a crime to me, that even if it's for the suspense and intentionally leaving the viewer/main characters in the dark it's not doing a good job at building up his character and i fear for the exposition dump that will inevitably happen later on. that i will be harsh in critiquing this series because i love it so much and want it to be the best it can be: *inhales*
also me the moment i actually finished the goddamn season:
