hey so i'm halfway through reading this article about how in (american) schools, the way we are taught the classics influences the ideas of white western concepts being superior and I was starting to realize that like....might be why Greek adaptations are so popular. And why Lore Olympus is as popular as it is. Lore Olympus is undoubtedly western American. And while all fandoms have their bad eggs, never before have I seen such blatant racism when the extremist fans meet the critics. And i hate that sentence because it frames this bullshit as yet another fandom drama, but it's not. When people criticize the representation of the Greek gods in a western work made by a non-greek, fans will talk about how it's "just fiction. the gods aren't real anyways" or how "it's a retelling". I can't help but see the entitlement, these fans believe that the story is for them to consume in a vacuum. That the myths should be catered to THEM. And then will turn around and spit on entire cultures. Whether it'd be the Greek gods they romanticize or the savage "others" who need to be civilized.

you can also immediately tell if theyre a faker or an enabler bc they say anything along the lines of "I'd rather 100s of fakers use medical resoirces than even 1 actually diagnosed person not get help" or "fakeclaiming is actually way more harmful than spreading misinformation and taking up resources." this goes for any single disorder but esp Dissociative ones.
