OP I LOVED UR ANDREIL POST GOING CRAZY THINKING ABOUT IT if you have anything else in that amazing brain of yours on this take please do share because i absolutely LOVED how you articulated this aspect about andreil. its something i particularily appreciate about their dynamic and relationship with anger and Their Issues TM. your post will cross my mind whenever ill think about it from now on.
I don’t think I have ever gotten an ask and this is kind of making me go insane??? I hope you know that you made my day and also, I’m so glad people share in my endless brainrot bc when it comes to this series and these characters I simply cannot stop
It really isn’t nearly talked about enough that the thing that got Andrew to actually look at Neil and become interested was (as cited by Neil himself at some point tho I can’t remember in which book that scene is from the top of my head) Neil’s bone-deep jealousy of Kevin. It’s—it ties into that whole epiphany that Neil has at some point, when he looks at Andrew and realizes that while he is hurtling towards his own breaking point and about to burn out and shatter into something he’s not sure he’d recognize if he survived the encounter, Andrew hit that point and broke from it years ago. And that’s an understanding that goes both ways between them—in a fucked up way, it feels like Andrew might be the future that Neil has waiting for him if he doesn’t end the year six feet under: hollow and drifting, passionless after everything he had to rip away from himself to be able to survive. At the same time, Neil probably reminds Andrew of how he used to be, back when he had hope for things only to have that hope rip him apart—which is exactly where Neil seems to be headed for the majority of the story.
I think that a lot of Andrew’s understanding of Neil comes from the fact that he knows intimately what it feels like to be caught between a rock and a hard place and cut his own lifeline, only to then fail to die on impact. Neil hasn’t had to resort to that yet, but he is hanging by a thread. You’d think that watching him struggle would only serve to drive it home for Andrew that he made the right choice in closing himself off, except… well. His expectations of life and the people in it are so bleak, it’s no wonder he finds himself drawn to Neil’s messy emotions and every unexpected show of spine like a moth to a flame.
Neil, for all of his issues and scars, can still feel things—can still want something so badly it defies all logic. Can want something with such visceral, fucked-up intensity that it resonates where it shouldn’t. It’s an ability that Andrew thinks he’s either lost or cut out of himself to stay somewhat safe, sane and alive a long time ago, but that remains as the most fundamental crack in the foundation of his being. It’s a fascination that seems to come out every time he’s sober and eventually ties into him wanting Neil—wanting something worth wanting and putting a name to it once he finds it. They look at each other and don’t want a watered-down version of the person in front of them. It creates a relationship that embraces issues big and small and accepts (even values!) the messy parts of being human. It means that any space shared between them immediately becomes safe once they settle into something comfortable together. The way they handle the uglier sides of each other’s personality honestly makes me feral because it’s always done with understanding and acceptance and they even find positives or comforts there that the other can’t see and that’s probably a reason for why 1) their chemistry is so off the charts and 2) their relationship is so damn healthy (in addition to their communication being stupidly good when it comes to each other).
Andrew wants something real and Neil wants to be real. And then they get to have exactly that.

listen as the local jacoblover i do have to address the charlie thing at some point. especially now that i've seen it uninterrupted and at its worst. like, i am relieved he really was never planning on hitting him, OBVIOUSLY. but he still pushed him. and calling a child a mistake is one of the most fucked up things you can possibly do in this life let alone to charlie's face. i have not forgiven jacob summers for his crimes believe me. like you are a full adult man jesus christ. doghouse for one thousand years

A trope that I can never fully understand catching on for Neil is him hating sweets. He tells Betsy he’s not fond of them when he first meets her, but this is also a woman he’s incredibly weary of and would likely not take a drink from no matter what it was. Whenever there’s ice cream to eat, like at Sweetie’s or when he and Nicky go get it in TKM, he eats it without a thought spared for his supposed lack of fondness for sweets

🎯 for Declan?
🎓 for Stan?
🎯 -What do they do best?
Probably the best thing would be his marksmanship, he can hit a target with his S&W model 19 extremely accurately up to 60 feet away. It's also great bc that same revolver has so many quirks bc of how old it is and how many times Declan's had to fix it that it's basically unusable to anyone except him lol.
Ofc he's also pretty good at other stuff like strategical thinking, stealth, etc, but what really makes him scary as a bounty hunter is his ability to holepunch in someone exactly where he needs to without having to worry about hitting somewhere he didn't mean to. Great for intimidation, incapacitation, and torture.
🎓 - How long have you had the OC?
Oh good lord, uhhhhh. So the very first iteration of Stan was created in March of 2020 (might've been earlier tbh but that was what's on the toyhouse page). I had an idea for a cool magician design so I drew it on the drawing tablet I had gotten for my birthday the year before. He didn't even have his cane back then, that was added later, and he also had no personality or anything. Just a character design (old artwork pictured below lol)
Since then he's evolved so much, both in design, in gaining a personality, and more. I have more old art of him if you'd like me to share it And you would not BELIEVE the amount of changes he and also the rest of the cast have gone through since I first conceptualized them. Their story used to be completely different, hell, Declan and Vaughn kinda switched personalities.
Can't believe its been so long yet so short a time.
But thank you for the ask and the opportunity to ramble about my OCs! It's one of my favorite things!

Sorry I won’t be on here for like 2 days I got a fat stack of voiceover scripts to get through (80 pages !!!)
And it started with over 100 that my child then came very close to breaking my laptop and managed to delete the massive chunk I already had done and could not salvage for some reason (no idea what he did while I was out of the room ugh) so I had to start over lol
If you need to reach me before I’m back try discord (same username buggyandthebartoclub) - tho I may not answer immediately I will be swamped in editing and recording
Gonna pop in some anime battle music in my headphones and hit the ground running I really want my next pay to be approved and processing before the end of the week lol

Id v is so crazy for making a big lizard man hunter with braided rows and then make him a survivor persona and they made him a skinny white man with rows.. not just that but he's a redhead too......... There's like only 2 genuinely poc characters in this game.... And one of them the devs are constantly drawing as a white man for no reason. the one guy who's supposed to be native American is just a white cowboy who was adopted by a tribe.

I’m a big fan of the whole concept that Andrew actually ends up grudgingly enjoying Exy at some point, entirely because he enjoys being contrary. Like. To Andrew, denying people who think they can one-up him their success is a basic need. Riling them up for his own amusement in the process, only to make the takedown that much more humiliating when even the anger is not enough to give them an edge against his immovable presence is Andrew’s idea of self-fulfillment. Exy makes it so he’s literally getting paid millions of dollars to do that.
Kevin would be so much more successful in his pursuit to get Andrew to actually play if he stopped trying to get him to like the sport itself, and instead started to subtly market it as a professional career in being a little shit. I like to think Neil eventually figures out how to intentionally garner Andrew’s interest and starts to capitalize on his instigative tendencies to the fullest to give him incentive. Andrew plays Exy like it’s psychological warfare when he puts his mind to it. They could probably get him to run precision drills at night practice by prompting him to imagine how mad it would make people if he managed to strategically bounce balls off of his opponents’ helmets mid-game as a way to pass the ball up to Neil so that he can score. Stuff like that is actually creative, and hard to do, so the challenge becomes interesting when the reward (grim satisfaction in his own skill, his opponent being mad at him but unable to do anything about it, Neil’s smile) is worth the shot. It’s not the game itself that interests Andrew. It’s the opportunity to thoroughly mess with people and be as much of an inconvenience as humanly possible that sometimes makes playing Exy satisfying for him.
On a more serious note, there’s also something to be said about how his personal history/trauma feeds into this. Saying ‘No’ and the ability to see through that his ‘No’ is final is a very integral part of who Andrew is as a person. It’s really tangled up with Exy for him because, as Neil accurately put it, he plays Exy like he plays life.
Andrew is someone whose choice has been taken away from him far too many times in his life. The ability to choose and deny what happens to him and those under his protection is the highest good he has. Playing as the last line of defense at his level of skill quite possibly has the potential to be downright therapeutic. There’s satisfaction to be found in every goal denied, in being the best at what he does and taking control of his part in the game, if he allowed this to mean that to him. And that could factor into enjoyment of the sport as well — a quiet, subdued kind rather than loud celebration, but silent satisfaction is just as valuable as the much louder, more obvious kind. Anybody who matters can recognize happiness and contentment in him without needing him to say anything anyway.

What do you think about those fanon what-if scenarios where Papyrus is the final boss of the Genocide Route after Sans is the one who's killed before him instead of the other way around?
I don't really have an opinion, it's an interesting idea and if done really well it could work, but I think that's a difficult thing to do because writing Papyrus in that situation is complicated
