im going to go ahead and make this a separate post: diamond black will be touring will esprit d'air in february! if youre in the area please go see them if youre interested in either spectacular j-rock or badass dark rock. or both! tickets are running low so please, consider go seeing them :], theyre only ~£20-25, and i think i saw one or two that are for resale for only ~£13, though i don't really know how that works. and for those of you that are esprit fans: if you can't make any of the shows they're holding a patron only livestream on the 25th of feb! (no diamond black, though). i'd suggest becoming a patron period, there's a lot of cool bts and other exclusive content on there. it starts as low as £3 a month, or almost $4. also higher tiers get cool merch. please support these bands the people behind them are cool + they're doing most if not all of this stuff on their own.

Oh there’s new FATE GEAR too? Nemophila also released a new song today. I say new, but it has been played at live shows for a while, and first appeared in a live-with-no-audience streaming concert back in 2021. It sounds like something that would soundtrack a late 90s/early 2000s arcade cabinet racing game (think Namco’s Ridge Racer), and is quite atypical for them, although they are starting to get more and more eclectic in their output. Time to check out the FATE GEAR song. Nice to get new music from two bands I’m really into on the same day.

We have quite a treat for you today, one that we have been working on for quite some time. Perhaps you might have heard of 竜神 (RYUJIN) already, but in case you haven’t, here’s a (very quick) rundown: 竜神 (RYUJIN) is the newest musical incarnation of 篠本竜司 (Shinomoto Ryuji), who you might also recognize as Ryoji. Originally started as Suicide Heaven in 2009, the group changed it’s name to GYZE in 2011 and made quite a name for themselves in the international metal scene with their Japanese Samurai Metal-concept until the name was changed to 竜神 (RYUJIN) in 2023. The band’s lineup currently exists out of 篠本竜司 (Shinomoto Ryuji) on vocals and guitar, his brother Shuji on drums, Aruta Watanabe on bass and 般若 (Hannya, this time as SHINKAI) as a second guitarist. At the moment of writing the band is promoting their self-titled full length album that’s been released through Napalm Records on January 12, and of course we wanted to talk about that too. In fact, we ended up talking about so many things during this interview session that we’re forced to break this up into two parts. So today we would like to present you with part one of our interview with 竜司 (Ryuji) – which is also the name we’re going to use throughout this entire project because that’s what he introduced himself with -, in which we talk about his history as a musician and how the name of his band might have changed, but the concept technically hasn’t. And of course his international ambitions as a Japanese metal musician. This means that we don’t get to cover the new album 竜神 (RYUJIN) in this part of the interview, but don’t fret. My favorite band is a J-Metal band called “Maximum the Hormone” , and fun fact, 2 of their songs have shown up in my favorite anime / manga, Chainsaw man! I swear it’s coincidence, I liked them before I ever even knew about Chainsaw man, I had discovered them through an animation on YouTube when I was little

My favorite song by the band has to be “ChuChu Lovely MuniMuni MuraMura PrinPrin Boron Nururu ReroRero” , which was luckily that other song I was talking about that was in the CSM manga, I remember freaking out when I got the word from my friend it had been added :)
