Being a Sonic fan and meeting new Sonic fans sometimes feels like a nightmare blunt rotation, where every new fan you meet has a new randomized vendetta against one and sometimes more than one aspect of Sonic as if it took their wife and destroyed their crops.
This Sonic fan seems nice! Oh no they hate all western continuities and content and think fan content based on Fleetway, Archie (especially preboot Archie), SATAM, etc, is "wasted space".
Well this guy over here seems super nice! Oh no they despise anything that isn't one of the classic games and think Sonic peaked in the mid 90's and never again. Maybe they think Mania is pretty good.
How about this person? Nope, they think Frontiers ruined Sonic's good streak by allowing the story to take itself seriously. They love the 2010s games and think their writing was as good as Sonic should ever get.
Do I even have to say it? Yeah this dude is an early Archie Sonic stan who thinks Ken Penders and Karl Bollers did the best with Sonic ever and all their issues are exaggerated.
And the list just goes on. But you know what, I love pretty much every era, game, and continuity of Sonic at least a little bit. I love all of them with no need for "ironic enjoyment" at all. No one can convince me that the majority of Sonic isn't really fun and good, I dare them to try.
going along the assumption that most sonic characters often chose to go by names they weren’t assigned at birth (tails, sonic, tangle, whisper, rough, tumble, Starline, surge, kitsunami, silver? Blaze? especially Chip)
The possible (first) birth names for sonic are:
Arthur
Ryan
Jaleel
Martin
Jason
Roger
Ogilvie
Devin
Tony
Johnny
Ben
Junichi
Nicky / Nicholas
I left out some obscure references but I’m not gonna spell out where these names come from, you already know (look in the tags)
Silver’s desire for peace (as symbolized by maple leaf 🍁 shape to his quills) seems to be fueled by empathy he has for the world and people in it. Silver’s feelings reflect the environment and those around him as it has been noted that:
The blue sky makes Silver feel at peace
He can’t help but smile when he sees smiling faces and wants to become a hero because it means being someone that can protect smiles
Silver denotes his good futures as happy ones or ones where people have a smile
Silver will drop his mission to help those in need, he simply can’t say no to a sad face as he helps Amy and takes a job as a delivery boy because of this
Natural beauty, flourishing environments or just places where people are prospering and living peacefully take his breath away
Desolate or destroyed environments sadden and upset him
He cannot stand the suffering of the people in his bad futures
Sonic is not an indecisive character, by any means. He'll mull over something sometimes, but once he makes up his mind, it’s very hard to sway him because he lives by his way (his own way). If there is something he doesn’t agree with or doesn’t want to do, he straight up won’t do it.
That said, a huge part of Sonic’s character is acquiescence.
Sonic is good to go with the flow. He doesn’t always need to be in charge. He doesn’t always need things to go his way or according to a plan. And most importantly, as a character who talks a lot to avoid actually saying anything, his actions really do speak louder than words.
So, what’s important to understand is that Sonic goes along with things—even things that don't always come naturally to him—not because he feels obligated, forced, or pressured, but because he’s a more willing participant than he wants to let on.
Why? Because it’s easier to let the water flow when someone else opens the floodgates.
