BREATHE

I shifted onto my other foot and continued, “Brownies cannot use such symbols-” “Brownies can use many symbols, not all, but many. Especially ones concerning humans. None of us saw which symbol it was.” I swallowed around a dry throat and her honey brown eyes followed the movement. The hairs on the back of my neck rose at the attention, my skin burning, my breathing quickening. I flexed my hands and tried to breathe out slowly, evenly. “That was on my land-” I growled. “Rules are rules, Diana.” Her voice was strong but this time there was a more violent undertone to it. “You of everyone should know this. What I want is for Hannah to-” “You know her name?” It was my turn to interrupt.

EYES

I scrabbled at the unforgiving glass then my knees buckled and I dropped onto the rough carpet. My breath was coming in ragged gasps and I knelt there awkwardly pressed against the wall on my knees, letting the distress and confusion wash over me finally. My eyes were fixated on a single thread on the carpet but I couldn’t see it, my throat burned at my harsh breaths, my hands clenched and unclenched periodically. I couldn’t see, I couldn’t focus. My ears echoed with my heartbeats. My shoulder ached all the while I sat and hyperventilated, I must have reopened it.

STEP

“Unfortunately. She had some choice words about her ‘confused’ daughter spending time with a known bisexual. Although she was very calm when discussing it.” Mackenzie goes quiet again, barely acknowledging any of my words. I really didn’t want to think about what happened after Hannah and I spent the afternoon in the greenhouse, but I still felt a little bitter about the past few days. It definitely shut Mackenzie up quickly too. I step onto my porch and dig into my jean pockets for my keys while turning to Mackenzie, one eyebrow raised. I wait until he is gone into the fading sunlight before opening my door. At least this time I didn’t need to shout at Jasper.

GLASS

“I don’t suppose you can clean that yourself? You know how I hate dirty hands.” I frantically nodded and turned hastily towards the stairs. “Not up there, girl! You’ll get blood on the carpets! Clean in the greenhouse,” she hissed before trailing up the stairs herself without a backwards glance. I hurried to unhook the keys by the back door then hurry inside the greenhouse. Once the glass door closed firmly behind me, I let the tears fall freely and sniffled into the cool damp air. I’m not a child, I reminded myself forcefully. Suck it up, clean yourself up, wrap it up, you don’t need help.

BUNNY

“I’ll go find the other contestants.” He finally says too loudly to nobody in particular and turned stiffly for the door. Just before leaving, he stops to wave to me, a soft smile on his lips showing off his bunny teeth, then strides away. I sighed and put the guide book down. The woman stared hard when she gave me the contact forms back. I tried to tell myself that I was on edge and her sharp eyes didn’t mean anything but she was beginning to peel away at my walls.

CALL

My phone did have a missed call from Mackenzie and a follow up text message that said that Jay was on her way. I forced myself to take a slow and steady breath to calm my stilling racing heart. They couldn’t possibly blame this on me right? I could still talk to Hannah. I could still fix this spell. I frowned and let my phone drop onto the floor. I will fix this damn spell.

NIGHT

Mackenzie growls now, brows furrowed dangerously low and stared directly at me. I held his gaze, fingers flexing on my biceps. And to think I'd just painted them last night. "Continuing to degrade the keeper of the court will not get your voice heard sooner." “Maybe so. but Ive been repeating myself for a week now. maybe some degradation will get her attention." Mackenzie scoffs and stands abruptly. If he needs to go cool off over some snide remark, fine.

I have some headcanons about David's childhood!!

After his mom died, his grandma became his legal guardian.

Little David has never known his grandma. He didn't even know about her existence, because David's mother didn't talk to her OR about her mom a lot.

David loves nature because of grandma, as they were living on her farm all year round. He also knows a lot about wilderness from her.

David was a sad and lonely child, so one summer grandma decided to send him to summer camp. You guessed it - it was Camp Campbell.

David loved his MeeMaw and their lives and garden, so he was pretty happy there. Nevertheless, he wasn't very talkative or smiley with anyone else besides grandma.

At Camp Campbell David felt like no one understood him, so he actually was a troublemaker and always got into fights, even tho he was the one taking the beating. Because of that, counselors decided to partner him up with Jasper, the golden boy of Camp Campbell.

As you all know, after the bear incident, Jasper changed. David and Jasp completely swapped personalities after the traumatic event.

After David returned home to his grandma, she was concerned with the drastic change in David's mood. Guess what, she sent him to therapy, the great MeeMaw she is

Plot summary:

Ludwig gets mysteriously laid off from his old job and takes a train back to his hometown to live with his mother for the time being. After several weeks of living back home, he gets to know each of the local trains stations workers. Eventually forming a friendship with the group of unique colleagues. Ludwig is naturally drawn to one of the gruff senior locomotive drivers, Dell Conagher. Younger brother of Daryl Conagher, the owner of the BLU’s train station. Both brothers seem to have a very rocky relationship behind closed doors. Daryl eventually offers Ludwig a job as a peppy train conductor and on sight medic. Ludwig is ecstatic to start his new job with his new friends.

-Dell & Pyro are both in charge of the drivers compartment together. Dell acts as a mentor figure to Pyro and the two quickly become good friends.

-Pyro recently got hired so Tavish & Jasper relentlessly tease and pull little pranks on him at first. After getting sternly lectured by Dell the duo eventually calls a truce and they stop picking on Pyro. To make up for it they have a bonfire and share s’mores with Pyro.

-Jasper & Tavish are both in charge of the diner cab together. They both get chewed out frequently for drinking on the job. Eventually the duo get’s caught by Pyro & Dell drunkenly making out. Both of them refuse to acknowledge that it ever happened. They continue on being pals even though there is definitely something complicated going on with them.

-Dell & Ludwig both have huge crushes on one another. They’re both too afraid to make the first move. Ludwig is more bold when it comes to subtle flirting, meanwhile Dell is more oblivious and bashful. (Bro is religious & repressed)

-Daryl gets envious of all the attention his younger brother is getting from the doctor so he tries schmoozing Ludwig over with a fancy dinner and a new job offer for him.
