My Review on Jess the Dragoon's Overwatch x Mega Man X3 Anime Opening

For the record since @jessthedragoon responded to my recent posts, I decided why not give a review on her latest animation!

This is a spin-off of the Mega Man X3 anime opening featuring elements from Overwatch. I've heard of the game, though I never played it. But I do know a lot about Mega Man from my brother!

When it first came out, I absolutely loved it! The overall animation and characters look amazing! It really captures the look and feel of the 90s quite well. And can we just talk about the PS1 Capcom intro? She really nailed it! 10/10!

“Gods, but this place is positively noisome.” Thancred stared out at the entrance of Aurum Vale, wrinkling his nose in disgust.

At his side, Kal’istae hid her smirk, turning her face into her shoulder. Behind them, the two dragoons who had joined them exchanged a long look, then the female of the pair spoke up. “Uhm. What does noisome mean?” she asked. “Because if it means gross sounds, that’s absolutely true.

The four fell silent, listening to the squelch and shuffle of morbols and ochos, the buzz of vale wasps and the rustle of lilies of the vale. The creatures abounded, choking every last inch of the room. “No, but it fits all the same,” Thancred muttered. “Actually, it refers to the rather fetid odors. I knew morbol bile was disgusting, but I never quite realized it was this… revolting.”

Kal’istae sighed. “You wanted to come,” she reminded the gunbreaker, just a bit tartly. “It’s a bit late to back out now - we have guests.”

Again, the two dragoons exchanged glances. “Please don’t,” the male said a bit plaintively. “Do you know long we waited for someone to bite on Aurum Vale? You’re the fourteenth tank we’ve asked and the first one not to outright reject any of the guildmasters when the job was proffered.”

“We even considered offering gil, although that’s frowned upon,” the woman added in an irritated tone of voice.

Thancred inhaled shallowly through his mouth, then grimaced and spat. “I’m going to have to burn this jacket,” he told Kal’istae. “I hope you’re up to helping me get a new one.”

The Au Ra’s smile was edged with mischief. “Sure. Might take a while, though. Suppose you’ll have to stay home for a bit.” At his sigh, she laughed, then wrinkled her nose. “Ugh. That taste.” When he laughed in turn, she echoed his sigh. “Everyone ready?”

“Ready,” Thancred confirmed.

The two dragoons unsheathed their lances. “Ready,” they chorused.

With the check done and the party ready, it was time for the dungeon to commence. And so forward they strode to combat the menace, in all its noxious squalor and noisome stench.

Were they given their name or did they choose it?

For Marielle (and any others!)

Marielle's real name is Svitlana. The name Marielle was given to her much later after she left Dravania to be found by a former dragoon. Roselle rescued Mari from drowning when she'd fallen into water cause the icy surface wasn't frozen enough for her weight. Over time together, Roselle gave Mari the name she goes by while she looks like an elezen. Marielle later took Roselle's last name because the ex-dragoon saved her life a second time, giving Marielle time to flee before being discovered by some Ishgardian Knights.

His first name is his birth name. However his last name is one of choice. His father's last name is Chassebel but he wanted nothing to do with his so-called father that refused to accept him. His mother's last name was Delacroix. But again he refused to accept her last name considering she'd just used him like a pawn against his father and then sold him to a minor noble lord to be used when his father denied him. So he chose his own last name when his mentor took him under his wing, deciding he wanted no connections to the hell he'd come from.

Ronove's name was given to him by the Elder voidsent he serves. Because of a spell cast in dying moments, Ronove had no memory of who he used to be. So the Elder named him Ronove. His mortal name used to be Jesse. Only Jesse would have known what his true last name was since he'd shed that when he ran away from home to be safe from parents that were disgusted by him.

many! prancer and elise both make their introductions in ch4

it's also the duchy swimsuit chapter (first of many) bc elise is throwing a pool party that honey and emil attend (bell doesnt attend but honey and bells picnic date is ch5)

theres some other attendees i have concepts for but no final designs...

on the lilac side theres a small handful, xio's dragoon mechanic jess is introduced (i drew this when i was working on the prose ver)

My Review on Jess the Dragoon's Detective Pikachu: A Christmas Case

And while we're still on the topic of Jess the Dragoon, let's talk about this amazing Detective Pikachu animated fan film!

Detective Pikachu: A Christmas Case, as the title implies, takes place around Christmas time. Tim Goodman and his partner Pikachu are off to investigate some strange happenings in a theater, planning to host a Christmas special tonight. But things take a dark turn for the worst.

Can they solve the mystery of the Nolan Theater?

I'm not a huge fan of Detective Pikachu or any of the Pokémon games, but this was pretty cool to watch! The story! The plot twists! The animation! Everything about the movie was incredible!

Still... I would really like to see some more of Super Hero Clock, though. I guess we'll just have to keep waiting.... more....

flimsy conviction

your confidence in yourself seems fairly weak. it's easy enough for your friends and peers to ask if you're okay, but what's the point? you're just going to say you're doing fine, you're doing alright, you don't need anything at all. your selfless pursuit of what's important to you has stripped you dry, rinsed you clean like pork bones for soup. there's only so much to keep running from and only so much to hold back until you explode. it's okay to not be okay!

I can't exactly say this fits Jess, but most of the given answers didn't, and that's ok! I'm just a really boring person who has boring OCs, no real trauma, no self-hatred, no angst, none of that. Jess is generally a happy person who seeks to live life to the fullest and has, honestly, gotten everything she's ever wanted in life. She's damn proud of all she's done and where she's at, and doesn't really have doubt or regrets or anything like that - just excitement and hope for the future!

Jess isn't the only one cut off. Thancred's hand claps over Kali's mouth and he gives the dragoon a grin that's little more than bared teeth. "I'm fully aware of what you ladies discuss in private. We won't discuss it in public, as well."

Over his hand, Kali's eyes promise plenty of spilled details... later.
