You know, since this is a fanfic blog, can I recommend “Fire Agate” for people in the trollhunters fandom?

It has Jim/Toby/Claire and Blinky/Aaarrrgghh, but neither of these ships are like. Super apparent? (Like they are mentioned but it doesn’t really get in the way of the story… so like. If you don’t like either of these ships it doesn’t really take away from the fic?) ((I mean, you can take either or both of them platonically,))

Also Toby is Jewish in it and frankly it fits :)

It’s a post-trollhunters fic set mainly in the New Jersey troll market where 3below through RoTT didn’t happen (it was written before they came out) where Toby decides to become a troll.

It’s pretty long but it’s a very good read!

the people have approved Jimvenette+ so im gonna give some more

battle couples. LOVE EM. obviously the canon groupings are already doing great fighting alongside each other. Jlairby, Connverse, Adrienette. They're so good at working together.

But let's do some switch ups! Who's working together across the board well and who gotta work on it?

JimCon. Jimnie? Connie and Jim. I'm real sure they are gonna absolutely be able to go back to back and throw down. They're sword bros. they help each other get better with swordplay and can cover each other's weak points pretty well *cause its the same weak points*

Mariven? Stevenette? Steven and Mari. I think they can absolutely work together. Mari is miss "rush headfirst and think on your feet" and she's pretty good at it, while Steven can do that, he's a little better about having a fallback plan. If something catches Mari off guard, Steven's got her back and can shield or catch her in whatever way she needs.

I think Connie Claire and Mari would be untouchable. like, you got shadow magic with Claire, Connie's got Rose's sword and Mari with her ladybug vision? the three of them are going to kick ass and take names and the boys will be behind them cheering

Jim and Adrian would be interesting i think. i know Toby would definitely appreciate Adrian/Chat Noir's mid-battle banter, though I'm not sure about Jim. I think they'd be ones who need to work on it. Adrian/Chat's much more flowy and bouncing around while Jim is more about standing his ground and being solid.

Other side, Toby and Adrian are so good together. they're besties dude. unfortunately, their fighting styles are a little. incompatible. they can make it work, but its gonna take some time and effort

Steven and Jim are of similar mind sets so i think they could fight together easy and are glad to cover for anyone else who needs to, which is important when they're fighting with Mari. The three of them take a bit to work out their lingos and movements, but they work together crazy well

Jlaire and Ajaire are both romantic. Either the Ajim side of this ship is queerplatonic and/or this is a case of Claire Has Two Hands.

What makes me happy about them:

I really liked Claire and Aja's interactions in Lighting in a Bottle, and then Aja and Jim's instant friendship in the timeloop episode screams queerplatonic.

What makes me sad about them:

As long as Aja is queen of what appears to be an absolute monarchy and Jim is the trollhunter, the three of them can't live together.

All I want in the world

Jim sighed in contentment, his sigh turning into a soft rumble in his chest. Claire slept against his chest, his arm over her shoulders. Toby was under his other arm, his head on Jim's shoulder. A positive thing about his transformation, his chest and shoulders were now broad enough they could both sleep on him at the same time. And he never had to worry about his limbs falling asleep again.

He leaned his head back, resting his horns on the back of the couch. For once they were all tired from completely regular teenager things. There had been no emergency last night that they had to respond to. Instead they had just stayed up too late talking and catching up.

Jim and Claire were finally back in Arcadia, for good this time and they had stayed in Jim’s living room laughing and sharing stories till the wee morning hours. Toby and Claire had each fallen asleep on him, Toby in the middle of his sentence.

Jim’s ears flicked at the sound of a vehicle pulling into his driveway. His amulet lit up across the room, reacting to his emotions, ready to fly across the room so he could don his armor. He bared his fangs at the thought of anything disturbing the two people sleeping against him. He would defend the two of them with his life, not that he would be alone in the fight. He knew he could count on both of them fighting by his side. Their weapons were leaning on the side table he had set his amulet on last night.

The sound of his mom laughing from the driveway stopped his mind from spiraling on it’s dark path. He heard the sound of two car doors close then after a few seconds the conversation he could barely hear approached his front door. He took a deep breath and let himself relax, and his amulet stopped its flashing. Then his mom unlocked the door and stepped inside. She stopped herself mid sentence as she saw the scene in her living room.

“Hi mom, Ms. Nomura.” Jim whispered, not wanting to wake the others. The smaller woman walked in behind his mother. Last night after dinner with her son Barbara had left to spend the night at Nomura’s apartment, leaving the kids alone in her house. Jim couldn’t help but notice that his mom’s hair was still wild from her “activities” at the changeling’s apartment. He decided he wasn’t going to mention it as long as she didn’t mention the similar way his mane was messed up.

The two women quietly set some belongings down in the hallway, before Ms. Nomura walked upstairs. Jim knew his mom had taken a couple of days off from the hospital to spend time with him, so she was probably going to spend some of the rest of the morning resting upstairs with her girlfriend. Barbara set one foot on the bottom step, then paused.

“Can I get you anything honey?” she asked. Jim smiled happily at the two people sleeping on him.

“I have everything I could want in the world right here.” Another deep rumble filled his chest as he squeezed them lightly. His mom smiled at that. She pulled a spare blanket out of the hallway closet and carefully laid it on them. Jim kept speaking while she tucked the blanket around them. “I love them so much mom. I love them more than anything in the world. I love them more than I loved my vespa. I love them more than cooking!”

The rumble in his chest seemed to grow louder. He looked up to see her eyes edged with tears as her smile grew wider.

“These two really have been good for you.” She paused for a second. “Also, are you purring?”

“What?” The rumble cut out quick in his surprise. He had never thought about the noise before, it was something he knew some trolls like Aaarrrgghh did when they were happy.

“Yeah I think it’s purring.” Claire said sleepily. “And we love you too, Jim.”

She sat up and kissed him slowly. As soon she pulled away, a hand on his jaw turned Jim’s head in the other direction. Then Toby kissed him as well. He felt a little bit of color rush to his cheeks and the rumble in his chest returned in force. This caused him to blush even more. His mom hid her smile behind her hand, then turned a walked to the stairs.

“You kids can go back to sleep, Zelda and I are going to sleep in my room.” And she walked quickly up the stairs.

Jim settled back, still purring slightly. Claire had one hand tangled in his mane. Toby was tracing patterns on his bare chest. Jim sighed again, everything he could want in the world, is right here, in his arms. Soon the others were back asleep, lulled by the rumble of his purring. And Jim felt his eyes grow heavy as well, till he joined them in sleep.

Hi, in my HBB story, I didn't come up with title as a reference to Jim's line, it was a mere coincidence and just came up with it at the top of my head. (And season 3 was pure crap.) Anyway, in HBB, should I have Claire get with Jim, or Toby, the latter to spice things up? Are there any WarStaff fanfics that you could link? Are there any Disney movies or sequels that you really like, but everyone else doesn't? And what is up with Infographic having a lot of EyeTrauma!Toby in his stories?

Neat coincidence. (Yeah, I was disappointed by the third season as well.)

I am a firm believer that it is no one’s place but the author to decide which ship they should or should not include in their fic. That said, since you’re asking, I do think WarStaff would be more of a twist and therefore more of a ‘hook’ for the audience.

There are more Jim/Claire/Toby polyamorous triad fics than there are WarStaff fics that I’m aware of. [Jlairby AO3 fic list] [The one WarStaff fic I saw that didn’t include Jim in the ship tag]

As I’ve said, I don’t tend to read movie reviews, so I don’t know how many movies I like are unpopular.

The only Disney movie I’ve seen that I actively disliked was Maleficent, the live-action Sleeping Beauty remake. They cut all the songs, and I was hoping for the Queen to get a bigger part than in the animated version but I think she actually had less of a role, and the movie kept stopping for these mostly-static shots and facial closeups which were probably meant to be moody but which felt more like “the movie’s paused, time to go to the bathroom or on a snack run, oh wait never mind it’s playing again”. Basically the only parts of that film I felt were improvements were the expansion on the raven’s character, Maleficent getting caught by the setup of her own curse (”the princess shall grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her,”) and the platonic True Love’s Kiss twist.

Strange Magic is technically a Disney movie, but you already know I like that one.

That last question’s really better directed at Infographic, but I think it falls under the heading of, “with some writers, you can tell who is their favourite character because that character suffers the most in their work”. Also he’s got a theory Toby really is going to lose an eye at some point.
