'Your losing me' -Taylor Swift
Anyone else think in the following lines of the song,
"A pathological ppl pleaser,
Who only wanted you to see her
And im fading thinking
Do something babe, say something,
Lose something babe, risk something,
Choose something babe I got nothing'
Shes talking about how she possibly introduced a friend of hers to joe and they possibly wanted to talk alone without taylor so taylor, being a pathological ppl pleaser watches from far way and then in the midst of the party and sound she sees her friend reach to kiss joe or something and thats why shes saying , do something babe say something, as in for him to stop the kiss or interaction and the lose something babe risk something as in to risk the girls attention for taylor and on the line 'choose something babe i got nothing' shes practically begging him to choose her because shes got no one, no options. Does anyone else think this?

I didn’t realize how much I needed a swfitie s/o until my boyfriend starting religiously listening to taylor all the time so he could get me. now he’s a swiftie and i dont know how i was surviving before. the other day i showed him joe alywn’s instagram story where he posted benji and i was like “this is benjamin button, he is 1 of 3 cat children---” and he was like “oh yeah I know. and meredith is the one who hides!”

Realizing that Taylor wrote and rewrote her meeting and falling in love with Joe over and over on each album because she was desperately clinging to the hope that the magic and golden love would come back, but over the years it never did.

You know, it's rather interesting to me that Taylor Swift's parasocial relationship with her fans is honestly more akin to a YouTuber than a writer's. When I scroll through her tag on tumblr/Twitter, it's far more regarding the connection to her personal life/relationship developments than the actual metaphors/fictional story she might be telling. Everything comes back to how her songs reflect back on her relationships with Joe/Matty/Travis/Jake/insert ex-boyfriend here. And what fascinates me about it is that even though she complains about it, she leans into that very perception because it strengthens the parasocial bond.
The marketing for TTPD so clearly being about Joe Alwyn and the songs to Matty Healy. The marketing/video for Red TV so CLEARLY being about Jake Gyllenhaal, with so many of the new lines in All Too Well specifically being digs at him (I'll get older but your lovers stay my age, casting an actor that looks like him for the video, specific lines in I Bet You Think About Me). The fact that songs like Getaway Car and Bejeweled and Gorgeous and London Boy and Lavender Haze being picked apart at time of release and long after for signs of relationships crumbling. The way she uses surprise songs in relation to her relationship development with Joe/Matty/Travis. The damn TTPD "stages of grief" playlists where she deliberately undid/changed the meanings of old songs just to keep her audience speculating on her love life.
It's not sexist to point out that her wielding her love life is a marketing tool and that the strongest connection to her audience isn't the strength of her writing/the composition of her music- it's her deliberate crafting of a connection between her music and her personal life, leaving the audience invested in her music as an extension of Taylor the Person/Girlfriend rather than Taylor the Artist.

The way our fandom terrorises this man simply because he’s Taylor’s ex is reprehensible. He’s the one who actually has a moral backbone and is brave enough to take a stance on Palestine (all while being sent death threats from Swifties).

swifties are angry at joe alwyn for posting about gaza on taylor’s birthday, calling him “pathetic,” “manipulative,” and “evil.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wish I could tell you that this was all a joke, that these are all parody accounts, but they’re dead serious. and of course we get the conspiracy theory about HIS TEAM trying to make him look good, because anyone who comes online and says anything critical about taylor MUST be a member of joe alwyn’s PR team. 🙄
but yeah, swifties are convinced that joe was trying to SHADE taylor by posting about gaza on her birthday, because s hasn’t said or done shit regarding this issue. also, they literally cannot fathom that there is anything happening in the world that is MORE IMPORTANT than a billionaire’s birthday.
and these swifties really need to ask themselves: WHY does joe alwyn posting about gaza make them SO ANGRY? is it because they’re reminded that taylor has not done or said JACK SHIT about palestine because she’s too afraid to lose money by being too “controversial?”
Tumblr media
“not to mention it’s a screenshot and it’s not even a donation link like…”
it’s a LINK TO AN ARTICLE and it’s still more than TAYLOR has ever posted?? y’all think he was trying to “shade” taylor on her birthday (even if he was, so what? she + her team + her stupid friends have been shading him SINCE APRIL) by bringing to attention her lack of care about palestine or really any issue that doesn’t directly affect her (or her “home state.”). and the fact is, taylor could VERY QUICKLY AND EASILY shut up the critics who say she hasn’t said or done enough regarding palestine, but she won’t. miss americana, the goth punk billionaire, who spent a whole documentary crying about how she wasn’t allowed to speak up on important issues, has suddenly become ALLERGIC to saying anything remotely political or controversial. and at some point you’re gonna have to ask yourself why.

this tracklist has me thinking so many thoughts you guys.
they broke up a fortnight into tour... the first show post joever was in florida... who's afraid of little old me being a twist on who's afraid of virginia woolf a film which starred elizabeth taylor and richard burton about a couple whose relationship breaks down at late night drinks in front of people... my boy only breaks his favourite toys - is she the toy??? free from the slammer where the slammer is an obvious reference to jail after all the criminal metaphors of her and joe tricking the system... but daddy i love him being a reference to the little mermaid where she gave up her voice for a man... clara bow being a 1920's film star who found her voice, married a guy who denied they were ever married publicly and then died + the majority of her fame coming from silent films where she literally didn't need to have a voice and then successfully transitioning into 'talkies' (films with sound).... the smallest man who ever lived vs. 'the loudest woman this town has ever seen who had a marvellous time ruining everything'... oh boy.

the issue with ttpd personally is that I love some of the songs but sadly I've been force-fed her personal life so much, these details keep coming and leaves a bad taste in my mouth
You can't say "1830s without the racist" after writing an album about matty healy
"So high school" is a cute love song, but it's about our xenophobic racist king tk
"I can fix him" have some elements I like but it's about mh and her getting offended she's being held responsible for her problematic actions
"guilty as sin?" is one of my favs, but it reads very different when you know (unfortunately) the context
"so long, london" is amazing, but just like "renegade" she blames joe alwyn for having mental health issues, but also out them to the world which is the worst part of it all
wishing I didn't know the context, but it is practically impossible to engage in any taylor swift space without knowing

I'm sorry but Taylor Swift literally writing a song about having a tantrum because her fans called her out for dating Matty Healy.
Her fans go, "Yes, queen, no one can tell you what to do!"
Her POC fans were allowed to be upset that someone they have monetarily supported dates a known racist who said he enjoyed watching corn of black women being brutalised. And even if it was a joke--- no, stop, hear yourself, it's not fucking funny.
She also keeps cosplaying mania and mental breaks. Babe, having a breakdown is not an excuse for dating a known racist like jfc.
On another note, she keeps referencing and alluding to Joe Alwyn having depression. She's done it on multiple albums. It's not her place to out his mental health issues.
It sucks because I genuinely enjoy so much of her music, but she's so damn problematic.

my swiftie boyfriend (of over a year) and I’s song is Sweet Nothing and oh god the people the song being about being broken up now makes me wanna cry because to me that song is like the epitome of love, it’s my everything when it comes to romance ya know? my boyfriend says its okay that it’s not joe and taylor’s love song anymore because now it can just be ours, but it still hits me hard that they could have written such a beautiful love song together and then it’s just over.

did you guys notice that the main theme she put about her relationship with joe in this album was that it felt like a cage to her because he was depressed. the song, so long london makes me feel so sorry for joe because she is resenting him for having his blue days and not snapping out of his depression faster so that she can have a perfect wedding. it's so insensitive given how joe was there for her during her darkest days and pulled her out of it, deleted her social media apps so she wouldn’t see the mean things people say about her etc etc. he was there for her when nobody else was. but she couldn’t be there for him when it was his time. she got bored and started rekindling her fling with matty when joe was dealing with his issues on his own. and she wonders why he wouldn’t marry her?
the worst thing happened after the breakup. she knows that joe deals with depression and yet she sent her fans after him to harass him on a daily basis for a whole year! she used the cheating rumours as a marketing scheme to release an album about matty. she let her fans harass any woman that worked with joe. how can a person be so vile?

Let me get this straight because Taylor Swift’s hardcore fans have this unhealthy parasocial relationship with her and it’s really crazy…
A year ago Joe Alwyn was the perfect boyfriend because he took Taylor out of her darkest moment, gave her the privacy she needed and shelter her while the entire world was turned against her. She also produced her best work while being with him (and her best love songs may I add). But ever since they’ve broken up, turns out he was the villain because apparently “he never let her shine” since he refused to feed into the crazy consumption of his private life. Taylor Swift’s fandom has speculated and made up the wildest theories about him and even reconned her past lyrics (some of which she said were written for fiction) to made him fit that narrative because one thing about Swifties is that they can’t never just decide that two adults didn’t want the same things because relationships just run out with time…no, Taylor needs to be the victim of every situation and everyone is just an obstacle to her fairytale and Taylor allows her fans and even feeds into it.
But turns out, he just was too depressed and so he didn’t want to marry her. Which mind you, is a very valid reason. You never know what being stuck in a depressed state feels like until you’re in it. And it’s also fair for Taylor to want to walk away if it made her unhappy, but I think it’s wild she let her fandom harass that man for a year because according to her lyrics — he’s dealing with “his blues” and that made her feel caged so she fantasized about another man. Like, her fans were ready to put out the pitchforks on Joe Alwyn — just for most of her album to be about a relationship she had with that racist loser (Matty Healy) and wrote a song about how mad she is her fans ruined it for her. Insane.
