*huge spoilers for Little Goody Two Shoes + Pocket Mirror*
now that Little Goody Two Shoes is finally out, we know the whole truth about the deal Elise made with the demon, and how she got the Pocket Mirror...
so one of the requierements for Elise's wish to come true was to sacrifice "the good company" which is basically, the love of her life (which she found out too late...). she was too naïve to realize she was being played and so her loved one was fed to the demon.
now, we know the girl who is canonically sacrificed is Rozenmarine (and therefore, the canon girl out of the three you can date in LGTS) because one of the wax records you can listen in Pocket Mirror says this:
and in the ending called "Moira" from LGTS (which is the one you get when you choose to date Rozenmarine and sacrifice her) you get the following dialogue:
and on top of that, this is the only ending that explains how Elise got the Pocket Mirror for Goldia...
which is from her friend Lebkuchen, who is also one of the romanceable girls in the game and unfortunately, it is confirmed their friendship is broken by then :(
so yeah. now we also know who the pocket mirror belongs to.
Elise's backstory is more heartbreaking than i originally thought when i played Pocket Mirror. In that game, the whole deal thing sounded like she did it out of pure greediness without thinking about the consequences of her actions. and yeah, she was an idiot for falling for such an obvious trap, BUT she was also a very young and naïve girl who absolutely hated her life, and so when she had the opportunity to leave that life behind she just took it. and when Ozzy (that is, the demon) told her he would take something else in exchange for that, she just came up with something she was sure would never happen.
it was never her intention to doom Goldia. hell it was never her intention to even have a second kid after she had Henri. but her fate was already sealed.
and thus, that's how Goldia's fate came to be...
also rip Rozenmarine :(

[ID: A digital illustration of Hunter and Raine from the Owl House. They stand beside each other in front of a mirror. Hunter uses a pair of scissors to cut a strand of his hair. He glances over at Raine who stands beside him. Raine runs a razor through their hair with a tired expression. They also have scars from Belos. End ID]

on topic of my emotions regarding Idiot Steve…
He should be terrified, but he isn't, not in that moment. In fact, he doesn’t feel anything as he stares at himself in the mirror of his en suite bathroom. He doesn’t know where the panic went, seeing as nothing has been resolved, nothing has changed. Except, well, he has a plan now. A plan that got derailed the very second he saw himself and another piece of reality has settled. Or unsettled. He’s not sure yet.
He gets stuck like this sometimes. Is fully aware of it, but that doesn’t make it any easier to stop, doesn’t make the comments any easier that get flung his way, sniding words from the genius kids or his genius soulmate — Platonic with a capital P. Just one more thing in the Idiot Steve Harrington collection, but this one doesn’t feel like it’s his fault. Actually, it never really does.
this one doesn’t feel like it’s his fault. it never really does
Now, though, it’s staring him in the face. It’s almost comical. We expect you to be great, Mother said where other parents would have written words of love and kindness. 'We expect you to be great. The next few years will leave you traumatised to all hells and back, you will almost die several times and find friends who let you care for them but maybe don’t entirely reciprocate that. We will never hear about any of that and we don’t really care. The last hug you got from me was April 1979, and that was only because I was grieving and you were there. Be great, Steven. And have a pizza for your troubles.'
and find friends who let you care for them but maybe don’t entirely reciprocate that
me writing the time travel au, or just about anything steve-centric:

yknow in my final high school years i used to draw these tiny androgynous fem figures trapped into little bottles and objects filled with plants and for my final va project i made this:
its clumsy but i still think about how 17 year old me was trying to express the feeling of being trapped in society and gender roles and unconsciously everything is just relates back to my weird ununderstanding of gender isnt it

I was trying to find a clothing term that I’ve seen in traditional Ainu wear for the ID for the last lil comic I posted on my art blog (couldn’t find a specific term for the vests I’ve seen Ainu wear in photos!) but it sent me down a hole of looking into more Ainu backstory and the like. Found a really good interview from an Ainu woman, and I think I’ve mentioned the conspiracy theory before, but if anyone’s wondering why canon Volo is. Like that (weirdly… white).
It’s because there’s a literal conspiracy theory that the Europeans colonized Hokkaido first. Heavily disproven, but still taken as fact to some. So that’s fuckin fun I guess (huge sarcasm cannot stress enough)
IDs for the two images:
The first image states: “JD/RD: The Ainu have been depicted as "mysterious proto-Caucasians" unrelated to Japanese people. However, DNA research shows that Ainu are the direct descendants of the Jomon, the ancient people who created Japan's first culture and one of the world's oldest extant potteries. This means that the Ainu and present-day Japanese are biologically related. Would you comment?

KD: The findings were only new to those who wanted to cling to the myth of a lost Caucasian tribe. Some anthropologists have reluctantly supported the theories that came into question because of DNA evidence. True scholarship is open to change, and the advent of DNA research was threatening for some. Other anthropologists knew DNA would revolutionize the field, and were excited by what that might mean. What has been done so far is only the beginning. I don't think that it is an exaggeration to compare DNA with finding out that the world isn't flat.”
The second image states: “Another origin myth that is losing credibility is the belief that the Ainu are some kind of lost tribe of Caucasians. The myth was created by early European scholars from the mid-nineteenth century, and because this was a respected view of Europeans, the myth can still be found as fact in some textbooks and reference books. There is some legitimate basis for the 'mistake.' The Ainu of the period looked nothing like the Japanese. The Ainu were muscular with skin tones similar to the darker French or Italians. They were very hairy, with thick and wavy hair, luxurious beards, and abundant body hair. Eye color was mostly brown, but could be 'bluish' or 'greenish,' no doubt a Russian influence. Most importantly, the very young were reported not to have the Mongolian 'blue' spot on their lower back. Today, because of intermarriage with the Japanese, the above features are not always present, but I have very thick wavy hair and in the summer I get a very dark tan, my eyes have a more European look, and my body build is somewhat muscular. For all these reasons during my youth I was subject to verbal taunts of "dojin." While the dictionary meaning is “native," it is often used as a pejorative term.”

What is your OC’s Role in a Tragic Play?
I was tagged by @corvosattano, @fourlittleseedlings, @shellibisshe and @aceghosts to take this uquiz for my OC/s, thank you!
Not tagging anyone since it’s been a while, but if you see this and would like to do it consider this an open tag, and feel free to tag me in on your results :)
Deputy Morgan Malone (FC5)
misunderstood villain
prepare for an onslaught of both the most dehumanizing and hateful takes, and flood of thirst comments. you are chronically misunderstood. whether or not you're actually evil is debatable. you may be acting out for revenge, to defend someone you love, or even just to protect yourself. you're a pretty jaded person. you don't trust or even really like most people. maybe you did at one point. but that part of you is gone, and you don't go a single day without grieving it. you think a lot about what your life could have been. you're stuck in the past. you're angry and maybe you don't even want to be, but this is the only way you can see to survive. you're open, but less in a trusting way and more like a wound. you don't like to let people see you, but the hurt spills out of you before you can stop it. you're impulsive, even as you try hard to plan and prepare. maybe someday your side of the story will finally be heard. until then, you can convince yourself that being hated is safer anyway.
