How do you discover the vettonso ship?And when did you decide is your favorite ship?

Hmmmm, okay so Vettonso was originally one of those ships where I kinda had to be like "love it and then leave it" bcs its just so small if that makes sense? Fernando and Seb are my favorites so of course I would love to put them together, but it just wasn't established enough for me when I had first found out about it, whenever that was. But then: boy king au. Basically I posted the statue Seb is based on and was like haha wouldn't it be fun to draw him as a boy king??? So I researched the statue more, and it was of Joseph I, whose brother, Charles VI, is who boy king Seb is based on. Charles VI was in a war of succession for the Spanish Throne. So when I originally drew boy king Seb, I'm like "yeah historically I think the only ship that would work would be Vettonso, bcs of that war. Austria(Red Bull Seb) vs Bourbon-Spain(Fernando and Renault)." So it spiraled from there, because I realized, oh hey wait I can draw fanart for it now! And write lore!

So you can blame the Habsburgs on why I'm so into Vettonso I guess 😭😭 It was just basically that that pushed me into it, bcs it made me realize, oh hey wait I can establish and make whatever I want! Fernando and Seb are my favorites to draw as well, so that worked nicely. I got very into their dichotomy and "storylines" because of that. And I'm now just forever obsessed with trying to put their dynamic in different situations, bcs I think they're equally fascinating. Just with how their careers line up, how they're so similar yet different, how their relationship progressed, etc. Vettonso is fascinating to me because they really are equals in a way I feel like most others ships aren't. It's hard to explain but yeah, idk, I just really enjoy them and exploring their dynamic. I think because they're opposition, but eventually fond, it's very easy to put them in situations, and try to parse out how they would connect, if that makes sense?

Basically: they're my favorite little dolls I like to play around with and put into all kinds of different situations and eras

The more I play, the more I think people that who super dislike Astarion have never experienced a trauma before.

Like ofc you're allowed to dislike a character for any reason, but it also makes so much sense why he is how he is when you unlock his positive approval rating covos. He's a snarky stab happy fuckboy yes, but his quest for power isn't unjustified. Astarion is scared, he's terrified he'll be brought back to Cazador and tortured 5 ways to sunday, if not outright killed. The tadpole is what's keeping him safe, and he isn't going to give it up without a fight. So he thinks the only way to ensure his safety and freedom is to go full scorched earth, take as much power by any means possible no matter who it hurts. He's a spurr of the moment decion maker, of course he's not going to think it through. When your ticket to freedom after 200 years of torture is right there, you don't stop to think about the cost of it, to yourself or others.

Astarion doesn't want power so he can rule over the sword coast, he wants power to make sure no one ever can ever hurt him again. You hear something simular in folks who have experienced trauma (plz understand that I'm generalizing here, trauma is processed differently by different people no one brain is the same). Anger, grief, fear, confusion, terror all are things that can go through your mind after a traumatic event occurs. Your brain is trying to find a way to make things hurt less, so if there's a chance for revenge, or the ability to take back power, you bet your ass its gonna sound delicious to your emotionally flooded brain. This is what I think is at the core of Astarions story. That this confident, cunning, flirtatious vampire is mostly an act, it's what he's practiced and what's protected him thus far. He likely learned that showing any sort of vulnerability is a weakness that will be used against him. His grab for power is selfish yes, but not in the way it seems at the surface. But absolutely power will corrupt absolutely, which is why I say his desire is justified, but not exactly supported depending on what type of run you're doing.

Idk man I just immediately looked at this man and went "aweeh.... it's traumatized". That boi ain't got any coping skills whatsoever and I'm a sucker for characters who's confidence is just a ploy to keep you from seeing just how fucked up they actually are. Anyways each character in this damn game is written so freaking well I could write a billion essays about it everyone say thank you Larian

Yanqing didnt get manipulated by a heliobi because he feels like hes not good enough/a disappointment to jingyuan AND breakfree from it by realizing that jingyuan was never disappointed in him and has always believed in him from the start and that jingyuan has hopes that he will one day understand why he trains and perfects his swordsmanship for people to call jingyuan a terrible parent

And even so, jingyuan then proceeds to blame HIMSELF for not doing EVEN BETTER when it comes to teaching yanqing and told him not to worry to much about what had transpired

Yanqings worries about not being good enough and wants to make jingyuan proud is very understandable, its like a kid who just wants to make their parents proud in general, and jingyuans worries about yanqing being in grave dangers is also like a parent worrying over their kid regardless of their age, because thats what children and parents are just like in general, no one was wrong in that situation or in any, its just part of life and thats why finding the middle ground is very important as to not make one side feel belittled, but Jingyuan had never held yanqing too tightly till the point yanqing feels trapped, he just worries for the boy, and yanqing had gotten to decide on his own what he wants to be, it was not forced upon him

Not to mention the many instances we see in game or even events that jingyuan cares for yanqing too

They are very father and son, and i refuse to believe otherwise

It's funny how so often the biggest fans of media also have the most grievances and straight-up disdain for large portions of canon, just because they love the worldbuilding and characters so much that they can pick up on where the creators don't share that same amount of care.

Arc-V is like that. The fan experience is being like "Yeah, I love Arc-V!" followed by multiple asterisks detailing all our issues born out of that love lol. It's the kind of show where what it doesn't do makes you like it all the more, just because of the fuel it gives your imagination to expand on all the worldbuilding and characters that canon barely focuses on — or treats badly.

It really does have some great concepts. That's probably why it's so easy to make AUs and headcanons out of it (for me at least).

midnight brainrot… i am thinking about wilson. about when he tells house during “the c-word” that he always thought he’d have a wife and kids around him when he was dying. about how he probably wanted that— or at least he thought he did— for a while. about how, if he had gotten that, he probably would have ended up feeling like he didn’t deserve to be a father. like he shouldn’t be a father. he pays three alimonies because no matter what, he ends up ‘ruining’ every relationship he puts time and feelings into. he carries guilt and blame for how danny ended up because he was ‘too selfish’ to answer the phone instead of studying for an exam. he probably spends the rest of his life haunted by the question, “am i my brother’s keeper?”. he IS truly haunted by that little eight year old cancer patient who was supposed to survive, but didn’t. he’s an oncologist. he is supposed to help people, to ‘save’ them. and yet he spends his time off the clock ruining his relationships with the people he loves most, and then spends his working hours trying to atone for it somehow with his patients. any child of his… i think that wilson would, selfishly, want to at least try forming a bond. maybe it could be his second chance. another way to atone for his mistakes with danny, with julie or sam or bonnie. but i think that he would also know deep down and without a doubt that eventually, he would just ruin them, too.

The most compelling part of my incredibly elaborate Alison Corruption Arc AU™/Alison Stranded in 1993 AU™ is definitely Alison just becoming an accepted part of Julian and Margot's marriage. The Cooper-y filling in a Fawcett sandwich.

Corey just moved towns entirely, from abroad actually (though he never mentions that). He joins just a week after Ire does! Last I knew, the accused professor is still tenured
