I don't talk about my job a lot but I like to rant from time to time; here's a story tho: I'm a hotelier. I've been in this business for 20 years, always in the Sales Department ( Either management or Direction, although depends of the hotel's size because it's entirely the damn same thing, only the position changes because they like to pretend they're better in bigger more luxurious hotels lol )

And at the beggining of the month you have to present both ytd and month results, right? Well I've worked for american/european hotel brands these past 7 years and everything, /EVERYTHING/ is automatized, right?

However, one decides to return to the place you loved the most... Well, sometimes, and that's why I'm back to work to the brand that helped me build my career, it's a mexican brand, I LOVE IT and I really missed it but LORD!!! They seriously need to find better ways to make reports cause, it's report, of the report, and report and report and.. It's almost 9 pm and I just finished cause I'm rusty LOL

However, since this hotel is a franchise of the brand, hopefully they let me improve a few excel sheets that'd let me make this quicker cause seriously? A production report should be only a matter of downloading the companies production from the system and just to paste it in a damn macro sheet, THAT'S IT

Anyway, just a little rant. I love my job, I realized how much I missed working for this company but I DON'T MISS all the damn reports lol

and I'm going to use this studyblr so I can keep myself accountable and log my progress :)

I'm sitting for FAM on (ideally) march 7. I didn't realize it was so soon bc I kept accidentally looking at the 2023 exam dates instead of 2024 LOL so I am pretty behind where I would have wanted to be since there is a lot of content for this one.

also work will likely be very very busy for me in mid-january plus my mom is visiting over the first weekend in jan so I would really like to work really hard for the next 3.5 weeks so I can take a break during that time!

important dates:

registration: "week of" dec 18 (literally what does that mean) - very important so I can get my ideal date/time and have the most days possible to study

goal to get ahead by: jan 3 - pretty important. I won't study at all while my mom is here and I can't count on having the energy to study during year-end close except on the weekend.

content goals:

this week: S1.2 through S2.5

next week: S2.6 through half of S5.2

by jan 3: through L2.4

I went ahead and planned my content targets based on the CA schedule and it turns out I can get through L2.4 on time by working at double the suggested pace on weekends and my study half-days and at the suggested pace on the other days, which seems tough but doable. mostly tough bc even at that pace I won't get any days off. but it's just for the month of december plus a couple days, and then I will get like 2 weeks off! I did IFM on a similarly tight schedule and it did make me insane but I did it! plus for any other day I go double pace I get a day off which is a big incentive.

I also have no idea if studying will actually be impossible during the middle 2 weeks of january... but I don't want to count on being able to do it. I can always make up for some lost time after YTD disclosures. so I am going to try my best to not go insane. but that is difficult for me LMFAO

so we will see!!!!! my main things to keep in mind/remember are that a) if I don't totally meet my content goal before my mom comes then that's ok and b) that I DO NOT NEED TO UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING PERFECTLY THE FIRST TIME... fr... like if I go through and have a hard time with a concept or problem type I am going to try my hardest to just make a flashcard and move tf on. this one is really hard for me but time is of the essence here so I hope that helps.

so ytd i was at this paper presentation competition with my very mediocre paper (the sole reason to that was bcs i am not a banking public finance girlie i never will be) but that's not the story. the story is that i met this dude from a year above me and he's from this very presitigious old traditionally left leaning and social sciences focusing college and i thought ha he might be interesting lemme chat him up. now usually i am decapacitated by social anxiety at events like these but i thought no girl you can't let your demons get the better of you and stare at him for the rest of the event, go talk to him maybe you could get a friendship out of this. i CANNOT tell you just HOW MUCH it took for me too even get up and go say hi. but i did, and i was so proud of myself. he was since enough and we started chatting.
