My favorite actresses
In no particular order
Kim Se-jeong
Tumblr media
What I've watched: Busted, A Business Proposal, The Uncanny Counter
What I want to watch: School 2017, Today's Webtoon
Okay, so though I said it was in no particular order, Se-jeong is definitely my top pick. I just love her, both on- and off-screen. She can nail both a bubbly rom-com protagonist and a hard-core, ass-kicking action star. And off-screen, she's just so happy and excited about everything in variety shows. I'm definitely hoping for a lot more dramas to come from her in the future.
Han Hyo-joo
Tumblr media
What I've watched: The Pirates; The Last Royal Treasure, W, Happiness
What I want to watch: Treadstone, Masquerade, Moving
This woman is just so goddamn cool in every role I've seen her in, as well as from what I can tell of her other roles. I'm not really sure what else to say tbh. She's amazing, end of sentence. I cannot wait to see her other projects as well, I'm sure they're fantastic.
Jang Na-ra
Tumblr media
What I've watched: The Last Empress, Sell Your Haunted House
What I want to watch: V.I.P., Family; The Unbreakable Bond
The Last Empress was one of the first dramas I watched where I was like; "oh so that's what a kdrama can be" - and her role as Oh Sunny is still one of my favorite characters ever, even years later. Just for that alone, she gets a spot on this list. SYHH was fantastic as well, only adding to my point here.
Kim Ji-won
Tumblr media
What I've watched: Arthdal Chronicles, Descendants of the Sun, The Heirs, Fight For My Way
What I want to watch: Queen of Tears
This is a case where she somehow just ended up in dramas I had planned to watch, without knowing she was in them. And in every one, she just stole the show. I don't know what it is about her, but she just stands out in the best ways. I was so sad when I found out she wouldn't continue as Tanya in Arthdal, as I just think she was perfect in that role.
Park Bo-young
Tumblr media
What I've watched: Strong Girl Bong-soon, Doom At Your Service
What I want to watch: Abyss, Concrete Utopia
She was so heart-shatteringly amazing in Doom At Your Service that I just had to put her on this list. Though the others actors were fantastic as well, she just carried this entire drama on her back. And Bong-soon is just an iconic character all around. It took me a while to realize they were played by the same actress, she's that good.

Jongsuk cut.
Read: 5 Good-Looking K-Drama Villains We Have Hearts Eyes For: Lee Jong Suk, Lee Dong Wook, More!
Before the K-Drama scene became a global fad, many actors were typecast with a specific acting role. Some of them only played the matinee idol type, rich chaebol lead and more.
But as the years passed by, many stars showcased their improved acting chops. Many actors took risks and challenged themselves with a new genre and acting role.
Instead of sticking to their prince or cool guy image, many of them perfected their villainous roles on terrestrial television.
Here are five of them.
Lee Jong Suk
The global heartthrob Lee Jong Suk once proved that he's as talented as he's beautiful! Apart from his worldwide works "Pinocchio," "W: Two Worlds," "While You Were Sleeping" and more, the actor has taken a sadistic murderer in the film "V.I.P."!
Many fans and critics alike were shocked by his transformation as he portrayed pure evil without any problems.
Lee Jong Suk received high praises for his performance, which was a 360 transformation from his "good boy-next-door" roles.

Dramas Being Watched Over Here This Week
The Beauty Within  (Korea; complete, binge) - I got three eps left and, as anyone looking at this tumblr for more than five minutes can tell, I am beyond obsessed with this drama. It puts me into a permanent swoon because of the OTP and the angst and the way the hero loves the heroine to such a negation of self (unhealthy, sure. What I want in fiction? Hell yeah.)
Catch the Ghost (Korea; airing, Monday/Tuesday) - this continues to be cute though I probably like it less than anyone in the entire fandom (I like it but don’t find it memorable)
Chocolate (Korea; airing, Friday/Saturday) - melllow melo, some angst (but not too much) and actors I love. This isn’t as intense as Lee Kyung Hee can get but more of her softer toned mood pieces (think Will It Snow On Christmas instead of Nice Guy) but I am charmed.
Haechi  (Korea; complete, binge) - I am on ep 8 of 24 and it’s smart and passionate and just a good old school sageuk.
Joy Of Life (China, airing) - a cracky period fantasy about the usual rebellion against the emperor blah blah blah but surprisingly light in tone. Too light for my usual tastes, tbh, but I am keeping with it for now.
Pinocchio  (Korea; complete, binge) - once I finish Beauty Inside, this one is my next contemporary kdrama binge. I watched it ages ago and loved it but never finished and I’ve been missing Lee Jong Suk (not enough to watch Romance Is a Bonus Book - I like my LJS suffering, not romcomming; only romcoms I dig are ones like the Beauty Inside, which have a train load of angst in there.) I can’t wait! It’s been so long I am just going to restart from scratch.
Psychopath Diary  (Korea; airing, Wednesday/Thursday) - black comedy at its very best, that somehow manages to make me care for the meekest of the meek Dong Sik who mistakenly decides he is a serial killer and tries to implement that destiny with hilarious gusto.
Royal Nirvana (China, airing) - you want bleak? We got a gallon sized gulp of depression right here. You want smart? Come right in. Intense? Ditto. This story of the beleaguered crown prince, played impeccably by Luo Jin, is everything I watch period cdramas for.
Six Flying Dragons  (Korea; complete, binge) - I am on ep 5 and this is smart and history heavy and has a hell of a cast and is all about the rise of Bang Won but also a lot of other characters and if you love history, or sword fights, or complicated characters, or tortured men, or strong women, or hell, really, if you have a pulse, just watch this.
V.I.P. (Korea; airing, Monday/Tuesday) - someone really really wanted to do a French novel as a kdrama. I give them points for managing to take a single plot point (is the heroine’s husband cheating? with whom?) and last it eight eps, but honestly, I just want to know already and if it wasn’t for my love of morally compromised fictional relationships and completely irrational lust for Lee Sang Yoon’s beyond repressed character, I’d probably bail.

Secret Garden. 10.
Story: 10
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10 🔥
Comparable to: Mr. Queen (kdrama) Queen in Hyun’s Man (kdrama)
I know many must of heard of this before, but yes it’s a ‘classic’. It may have every cliche in the book, but it’s like the drama that started all cliche’s, ya know. It has a young Hyun Bin too showing off just how talented he was 10 years ago then he is now, especially also Ha Ji Won who is beyond kickass in this. I also have to give a shout out to Lee Jong Suk babystepping role too😘 Overall though, it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but try it at least once. It will always be one of my favs.

Jang Nara and Lee Sangyoon are respectively the most ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ actors i can think of. They’re the type of parents whose only pose in awkwardly shot photos is a thumbs up or putting their faces as close to the camera as physically possible.
Exhibit A:

(he’s literally a tennis dad)
Exhibit B:

(she reminds me of a fairy, she’s so unbelievably adorable)

In conclusion i love them both even if they give me second hand embarrassment 90% of the time and whoever cast them together is an actual genius (even though i would love to see them in a soft romcom). This was in no way critical, i just wanted to talk about my parents.

I will never understand why they spent so much time on irrelevant things in the first half of the drama when the last two episodes are why i was here in the first place. It’s just starting to get good and it’s going to be over next week. They did me and Jang Nara so dirty.

I hate that for a split second I wanted Jung Sun and Sung Joon to reconcile in this finale. Then I quickly came to my senses.
Sung Joon is trash. I only wavered because Lee Sang Yoon.
Anyway not enough karma for Sung Joon and Yuri,
And no Sang Woo/Jung Sun love connection, but not a terrible finale. Just bittersweet. Glad I'm done with these stressful 16 episodes though.

This pretty much sums up their marriage - regardless of what is going on with him (I am still Team Not Cheating; it looks like he is cleaning up his boss’ mess), they have zero communication in that marriage, mainly because it looks like his way to cope with things is to shut down. His stiff upper lip approach to things makes a Victorian seem garrulous. That is really really bad for a functional relationship regardless of what else is going on!
Yes, they are pushing the theme a bit thick here, but after eight eps where I still have no clue what is going on, I am at least going to enjoy looking at Lee Sang Yoon shirtless.
Tumblr media
Except instead of going to explain to his wife as promised, he ends up going to comfort the boss’ discarded mistress. UMMMM DO YOU LIVE TO BE MISUNDERSTOOD, DUDE? Is it a hobby? He feels all sorts of self-loathing for helping awful boss cheat and cover up from boss’ wife and not even going to help the mistress in public earlier but UMMM THEN WHY ARE YOU GOING ALONG WITH IT? If you are a moral person, then why would a promotion be worth it? For God’s sake, just get another job somewhere,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, if I were his wife, I’d peace out of there. She’s given him so many chances and instead he clams up and blows them all up and just - if you want to be a martyr, there is a better cause out there, Mr Ideal Employee.
PS I still want to know what the traumatic event in the past in their marriage they keep alluding to but not talking about because they never talk.
