Hey so, most of the time Jackson and Holt switch they're forced to do so, and they look like they're in pain when it happens (because in all Jekyll and Hyde media the transformation hurts like, a fuck ton, because it's a huge change of their physical bodies) but in ghoul spirit (I think) Jackson actually chooses to switch into holt, and he isn't in as much physical pain. And that's like the only time Jackson does that and the only time he doesn't look like it hurts him.

What a fucked up detail to add to the characters of Jackson and Holt. Like, seriously, what the hell.

he literally throws himself in the way of a lethal blow to protect dunban during the battle of sword valley. his mission was only to get the monado into shulk's hands to facilitate zanza's return; dunban never had to be alive for that. dickson could've just let dunban die and retrieved the monado after things died down but he didn't. and dickson's not exactly characterised as a charitable person; risking his life for the sake of another isn't something he'd do without a damn good reason, especially when doing so has no perceived benefit to his overall character motivations.

This is the one and only hazbin hotel post I will ever make.

The use of voodoo in hazbin hotel is nothing but disrespectful and useless to the story. Alatsors story would be the exact same if he created a Faustian contract instead. A Faustian contract is a contract between a demon and a human, and you know what it's named after? Faust. Because the legend of Faust is the first literary example we have of this type of deal, and you know what happens in the legend of Faust? Mephistopheles fulfills the wish but in a way that costs Faust everything. It's a monkey paw wish. A long con of a wish. Which would have been fucking perfect for Alatsors story.

Considering vivzie clearly knows nothing about voodoo and doesn't even seem to know anything about the culture in Louisiana beyond what she saw in princess and the frog, the depiction of this closed practice which faces heavy demonization, specifically with a character that is feared and untrusted by almost everyone in the realm, is not good character writing. It is not good world building. And the fact that people have told her that this is wrong and explained to her that this is wrong and she's kept it anyway is horrible.

I feel this same way towards princess and the frog, it's one of my favorite Disney movies but I also recognize that their use of and treatment of voodoo is wrong but there's the big difference: viv is a smaller content creator with direct connection to her fanbase. She is not the unstoppable empire of Disney who will do what they want regardless of the publics disapproval because they will make the millions anyway. Viv is not an empire. They are a person.
