been knitting voraciously for about three years and almost never swatch 😬 i’m knitting a sweater for the first time and decided it was worth it based on the amount of effort i’m about to put into this and was wondering how much people actually follow the best practices

I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure about the names I've given. There are multiple ways to do a crochet provisional CO and multiple ways to do a provisional CO over a cable or piece of scrap yarn, and they don't seem to have different names. So some of the options may actually describe more than one technique. (I know of at least three ways to do Judy's Magic CO.) If people want, I can try to find photographs illustrating the different techniques.
Please give more info in the tags or comments! Also I'd love to hear your reasons for why you like or dislike a particular technique.

Trying to decide on stripe colors for a new sweater! It’s Pheon by Bristol Ivy
I want the body to be in mustard yellow, with contrasting colors are: burnt orange/reddish, navy blue, plum purple, and teal. The sweater is knit from bottom to top - so I have time to decide the stripe order …. But what color to make the first row of ribbing in contrast color 1?!?!?
Original pattern image on top left and right, my mock up drawing on the bottom.

So when I started this tumblr blog I did intend to also make an actual blog (form of website) or something akin to a vlog on YouTube or knitting podcast
Those of you who found me through my trailing hearts scarf are probably aware that my girlfriend broke up with me about a week ago - I'm fine (eye twitching) but I am searching for some more creative endeavours to keep me busy.
I am considering starting the knitting podcast but I would like to know how many people on knitblr actually watch knitting podcasts to see if it's worth cross posting about it on here. I mean I probably will post it on my art Instagram but that's unrelated
Blog will exist at some point I just don't have the motivation to make a website rn

Using 9" circulars, do you throw or pick?
Here's a question for all knitters out there who enjoy knitting socks (or anything else) on 9 inch circulars. Do you throw (English style) or pick (Continental style) or a third, unknown to me, way?

knitters and/or crocheters, a poll for you! i'm a long-time knitter and very occasional crocheter; my wife is capable of knitting but very much prefers crochet. i feel like many (maybe most?) people have a strong inclination to one craft or the other, and am wondering how true that is.
i ran out of options in the poll, so this assumes that you're more skilled at the craft you prefer. if you're objectively better at knitting but really love crochet, or vice versa, please accept my apologies, and maybe go with 'prefer [whatever], equally skilled'.
for the 'prefer, but can' options, 'can' is meant to encompass basically any level of skill from 'i can do the most basic stitches' to 'i'm genuinely skilled at this, but clearly not as skilled as i am at the other craft'.
i imagine that this will only have like twelve votes, so it may not tell me much, but i'm interested anyway!

Preparing to go visit my parents for a few weeks. Sitting here, having breakfast, thinking about what to pack. And it's difficult because I don't know how long I'll be gone. Two weeks, minimum at least. Maybe three, maybe four.
And ofc the big question is: How many knitting projects are too many for 2-4 weeks? How many do I care to drag there and back? How many do you see as reasonable for a long trip? For funsies I'll do a poll:
