This isn’t anything new, but I’ve recently gotten into “Konosuba”. As someone who despises the entire isekai genre (my hate stems from “Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody”, which is a story for another time), I think the reason why I’m digging “Konosuba” is that the show is dedicated to shitting on this trope. The main character’s introduction to the fantasy world is pathetic, everyone in his party is useless, and the plot barely progresses because the team sucks so bad.

And honestly, I love it. It’s like the anime version of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, there’s something so morbidly satisfying about watching these characters suffer and fail in life. And as someone who hates isekai, it’s doubly satisfying for me.

But you know what’s extremely ironic about this show? Because Kazuma gets shit on for 90% of the show, he’s actually forced to develop as a character since nothing goes his way. Hardships can really shape a character, so even though the point of his character is to mock the typical isekai protagonist, I feel like he has more personality and depth than other protagonists in this genre. 

Also, I’m watching it in both sub and dub. From personal experience, a sign that the show is great is when both the sub and dub are equally entertaining. The Konosuba dub is definitely up there in greatness, right next to “Kaguya-Sama” and “My Dress-Up Darling”. 

Anyways, good show, I’ll give it 10/10 useless water gods.

It is often a rarity, or even a miracle, that an anime that is well-received and popular amongst the anime community gets another season after so many years have passed. And there are only a handful of anime shows I know of where this happened while so many others did not. Among them was the 2016 anime series, KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! After the anime's second season ended and its movie released, many, including myself, wondered if the series shall gain another season. Things would stay unclear until, on July 18, 2021, the official Twitter account of KonoSuba announced and confirmed that a third season was coming. As of writing this, they have not revealed the official release date of season three, but that is fine. What mattered was that our favorite isekai anime was coming back with a third season. But wait! That was not the only thing they said was coming! Also in the works is an anime spin-off series called "KONOSUBA: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!" with our favorite pyromaniac wizard, Megumin, as the main character. I know I'm late to this whole thing, but as the old saying goes, "Better late than never." To celebrate, I made this minimalist wallpaper of the series' main characters, Dustiness Ford Lalatina, or Darkness as she prefers. My top favorite character from the show is Yunyun, but Darkness is one of my top favorites.
