Well well well well!
I have seen you being asked about your fav TW BL dramas. but I’m here to ask about…… your top 10 (or however many you want tbh) BL thai dramas!
Teeheeheeee!!
Ps: can someone else pop up and then ask you too Korean BL dramas? *wink*
Anon, I think YOU will have to come back and ask about my top Korean dramas because after people see this list, they will realize how trashy I truly am and never seek a response from me again. I've already written about my Top GMMTV Actors, my Top GMMTV Pairs, and my Top Five Taiwanese BLs, but this requested list will really show people that I am a dumpster fire, so let me present my
Top Ten Thai BLs
Before I start, I need to list my personal preferences since I have watched over 150 Thai BLs (if not 200), with a third coming from within the past year and a half alone. A show must meet at least two:
Don't bury the gay (MANDATORY!)
Be gay. Do crime! aka "Eff the police" (literally or figuratively)
I'm a messy bi, and I'll cry if I want to
Adulting is hard like my sexual attraction for you
Vice Vers(a) - Flipping the norms and changing dynamics
Next, I need to establish some ground rules:
The series must have completed prior to June 1, so Step by Step, Be My Favorite, La Pluie and other running shows cannot be considered.
It had to be marketed as a BL, so 3 Will Be Free, The Warp Effect, and Great Men Academy cannot be considered.
I could only pick a pair once, so most of GMMTV shows couldn't be considered if I picked another show the pair was featured in.
It couldn't have hurt my queer feelings, so My Only 12%, Until We Meet Again, I Told Sunset about You, and 180 Degree Longitude Passes through Us were cut for rubbing salt in real-world wounds.
A third of the final list had to be BL shows that aired prior to 2022.
Narrowing it down with those two filters, here are a dozen shows that didn't make the cut with a brief reasoning:
The Eclipse - pair already picked
Triage - the gay died each time the clock reset
Ghost Host, Ghost House - not within my personal preferences
Never Let Me Go - aired in 2022. Sorry Jojo!
My School President - pair already picked
Secret Crush on You - aired in 2022
Bad Buddy - it knows what it did to me
Together with Me - pair already picked
Lovely Writer - not within my personal preferences
A Tale of Thousand Stars - pair already picked
Between Us - it knows what it did to me
My Ride - not within my personal preferences
One more thing before I give you the list -
Honorable Mentions
To Sir, With Love
Tumblr media
I was raised on soap operas and telenovelas, so this lakorn was seventeen episodes of blissful drama, yet served one of the best pairings and family members of 2022. It was also a historical drama, so the ending being happy was unexpected, but much appreciated.
Destiny Seeker
Tumblr media
All the shows on my list have color coding, but this show wins every color-coding award I can give. As a self-proclaimed color demon, this show fed my soul and my heart with its color exchange between two great characters who were just trying to unify the Pretty Boys and the Jocks in a tale as old as time, yet more colorful than ever.
Now, the actual list
Top Ten Thai BLs
#10 - Dark Blue Kiss
Tumblr media
Pete and Kao went from a bit toxic in This Kiss series, to a solid couple trying to navigate the difficult situation of having one person in a relationship still in the closet. The reason was realistic as well - career. Kao coming out could have not only hurt his future, but his mother's job as well, and the socioeconomic difference between Pete and Kao was front and center during these discussions. Mix all of that with the addition of Sun and Mork and their dynamic of light enemies to lovers, and this ended up being a surprise favorite. It also had beautiful cinematography at a period when the production value of BLs was being elevated which is greatly due to director/screenwriter Aof and cinematographer Rath.
#9 - Big Dragon
Tumblr media
If someone would have told me during the first episode that I would like love this show as much as I did by the end, I would not have believed it, but here I am, in love with this show. It started off with two idiots being at their peak toxic level, yet ended with the softest men in love. The cinematography was beautiful, Mangkorn and Yai had a natural chemistry when teasing each other, and the music was good, so good that I actually listened to the lead sing his love confession…twice! Mos and ISBANKY made me excited to see what else Star Hunter has in store, and that was a door I had closed long ago. Big Dragon 2 when?
#8 - Bed Friend
Tumblr media
Much like Big Dragon, I showed up for a raunchy series about fuck buddies, but ended up witnessing two men work through trauma and showed that with support, healing is possible. King was the biggest green flag that has ever graced my screen, and the way Net's big brown eyes portray lust, love, and devotion is a skill that only matches James' embodiment of a sex kitten. I watched them in Catch Me Baby, but Bed Friend brought an entire new level of chemistry from them that balanced the heavier aspects of the show in a way that any other pair would have squandered. Because of NetJames, this show will remain in my tops for years to come, and makes me even more excited for Love Upon a Time.
#7 - You're My Sky
Tumblr media
We, collectively, did this show dirty. As BL fans, we did not appreciate it enough, and still don't. Because it came out in 2022, a year stacked with excellent BLs, it was pushed to the sidelines when it should have been at everyone's top for any number of reasons like the pairings were solid (childhood friends, senior/freshman, pseudo-enemies to lovers), the plot was consistent, and the cinematography was beautiful. We have a few sports-related BLs which do a great job of discussing the connection between toxic masculinity and male-dominated sports, and although this series didn't lean all the way in, it gave us a glimpse of what men must sacrifice in order to be considered the best in such an environment, especially when it comes to love.
#6 - Not Me
Tumblr media
Every character is shippable with every other character. That is the power of this series. Yet, because I’m petty, I’m still holding a grudge not about GramBlack (Eugene/Gene, really?!) BUT that ToddBlack did not happen! In a show that was queer in several aspects (marriage equality, society’s disapproval, found family, etc.), it was strange that it didn’t deliver on the Black front examining how power dynamics, socioeconomic inequality in regards to privilege, and performance of masculinity affect queer experiences (all possessed by the ToddBlack pairing), but what it did deliver was a great premise about fighting back against oppression (labor discrimination, educational gaps, monopolies), which is why even though the ending was shaky, it still deserves a top spot for existing.
#5 - KinnPorsche
Tumblr media
As much as I wrote about this show, I’m shocked it isn’t #1, but sitting through the final episode’s credits believing what I believed about Vegas left me feeling a certain type of way that I’m still not over. It had all the elements I love: Be gay, do crime, messy tears, vice vers(a), and the cinematography was perfection. Symbolism and foreshadowing were intertwined into every scene, so watching each episode was an experience and the aftermath was devouring hours of meta analysis. This was the first series I was excited to watch live unmuted and at normal speed, and I liked each pairing, plus rooted for others who were never going to happen (Big & Chan, Khun & everyone), which made this a fun journey even after the final credits finished (World Tour, anyone?!).
#4 - Love Mechanics
Tumblr media
I LOVE MESS, and this show gave me ten glorious messy episodes of the messiest mess. Much like the chokeholds VeeMark excelled out, this show had me by the throat (implication intended). I was shocked when it was announced En of Love: Love Mechanics would be remade and extended from four episodes into ten. I liked the original, but the basic plot (drunkenly having sex right at the beginning – how very Together with Me of them) did not sit well with me the first time around, yet once I saw the remake’s trailer, I WAS SOLD! Look at the angst! Look at the pining! Look at the chemistry! Look at the same steps and dorm from Together with Me! I could write forever about this show because it is better than the original, it was so similar to Together with Me that I had to squint to make sure it wasn’t, and the happy ending with Mark’s tears, although never doubted, feels like a personal win, which is why it was my number one of 2022.
#3 - Manner of Death
Tumblr media
MaxTul own me. Every couple I watch gets compared to MaxTul and the chemistry they bring. Together With Me is a favorite, but when Manner of Death aired, it spotlighted the evolution of MaxTul in the most beautiful way imaginable. The dark plot of drug and sex trafficking was difficult for most, but both of these characters' commitment to finding the truth in their own way while taking on the ACAB attitude even towards the one police officer they did like was a buffet that just kept serving me. I was truly worried because of the nature of the show that a happy ending wouldn't be possible, but not only did the show end with vows being exchanged, but the promise of another season as well. TRANSPLANT WHEN?!
#2 - Moonlight Chicken
Tumblr media
This was an adult show and toes the line of being truly queer media rather than a standard BL. I felt seen every time Jim sat silently examining his life and his choices. His hesitation to open his heart again to another person after being hurt in such a realistically queer way in a country that doesn't have marriage equality almost made me cut this show due to hurting my queer feelings. However, if I was willing to give up three pairs (FirstKhao -The Eclipse, GeminiFourth - My School President, and EarthMix - A Tale of Thousand Stars) for this one show, I knew it had to included. Aof working around the grief of losing a parent while examining gentrification and generational trauma all through a queer lens is a feat most would fail at, but this show shines, literally and figuratively thanks once again to cinematographer Rath.
#1 - He's Coming to Me
Tumblr media
I must end where I began - Aof, the director and screenwriter, changed the Thai BL game with this one, and hasn't slowed down since, which is why two of his other pieces are in my top ten, and several others are featured in my short list. Cinematographer Rath has also made his mark on this list, and it all started with this one for me. No other BL series has stuck with me the way He's Coming to Me has. Not one element of this show doesn't work. It's cohesive. It's emotional. It's everything to me. I cannot give this show enough praise. It created a unique magic in eight episodes that hasn't left my heart for four years.
And probably never will.

Thai BL: The Fanservice Problem...
Now here's the thing... I'm not here to offer solutions, though I do have proposed ideas that I may include at the end, but more just to breakdown my thoughts on fanservice in Thai BL.
First, we'll start with a general definition of fanservice:
Tumblr media
I think that the connection to print media originally is important when we're looking at modern BLs series and movies, as they have a base in print media. In Thailand you have niyaai waai (“Y” novels), kaatuun waai (“Y” comics), as well as the Japanese Yaoi Manga and Korean BL Manwha that are very literally the basis for numerous series, in addition to original story BL series.
In terms of the fanservice we see in relation to Thai BLs...that goes a step further, moving out of the fictional world and into the real one. The fanservice we're now talking about is actors whose characters are couples often being paired for promotional events and they are expected to on some level act similarly to their onscreen characters. This includes individual character behavior, but also having the two actors behave in a way that could be (and is intended to be) read as romantic by fans. This includes a lot of different actions, but skinship (which I'll breakdown later), general chivalrous behavior (like serving your partner first), going on 'dates' specifically with the intention of presenting those experiences on social media. The important part about fanservice in this context is that it is always done with the intention of being seen by fans. It doesn't matter if it's a publicly streamed and hosted event, or just an Instagram post, if it's made public by the actor, or their company, it's intentional and it's likely fanservice.
What is the purpose of fanservice then?
Profit, essentially. For these companies, who both produce BL, but also often represent these actors as a talent management agency, there's a profit to be increased by presenting actors in this way. Having these 'couples' become popular to fans means continued view of future series, but also means that they can set contracts to have them promote various products. You will see the actors often promoting the same products that are used in product placement in their series. A brief list off the top of my head: the Lays chips, whatever that flavored water or juice they're always drinking in Wabi Sabi shows, Epson printers (I think it's Epson), various skin-care serums, L'Oreal hair color, the menthol inhalers, the list is likely endless. In the series, product placement gives them direct funds to actually make the shows, but by having the actors promote the same products, these companies are getting a percentage of that payment also because they are also working as representation for the actor.
Tumblr media
To make easy numbers, while Gemini's contract might have been $1000 for this post promoting this brand of Ramen, because GMMTV set-up that partnership/contract, and they represent Gemini as talent, they'll get $200 for themselves, Gemini takes home $800 minus taxes. Again, these are made up numbers and I truly hope that no one is actually getting a 20% commission, but I trust none of these companies, so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was higher.
But because this is genuinely how a good majority of production companies gather capital to be able to make shows, the more popular a ship is can directly equal out to how many ad partnerships they can create for them, as well as the price they can charge. In order to give an approximate view, I chose two actors from the same company, Domundi's Zeepruk and Tutor. Because of Zee's vastly higher popularity and the wide difference in follower counts I wanted to have a third actor for comparison, and so I chose PP Krit. It's not an exact match across the board, but I think gives a good view of scale. Here is the break down of their last 30 Instagram posts:
Tumblr media
Now I'll start with some definitions of how I categorized things. Ads are things that have clearly been shot specifically to promote a product, and often have instructions in the captions on where to purchase, or specific benefits about the products. Sponsored posts are any posts where they tag a brand in the caption, but it doesn't have the detail of the Ad posts, or posts of them at a place or event where they were invited to attend by the brand for the purpose of being photographed there. Self-promotion is trailers, photos from their series, or fan events. And finally candid is any pictures that are just there for the fun, thirst traps, vacation pics, pics from behind the scenes of events, and while few of these are actual 'candid' pictures, they're not for the purpose of promoting a 'brand' in particular (outside of the fact they are all clearly intend to promote the 'brand' of the actor). The Couple+ 'whatever' is the same as listed above, but is for any posts that include the other half of their acting pair (meaning Yim, Nunew, and Billkin). The Couples Candid is only found once on a post from Tutor, and is clearly taken when they were filming their Tiktok BL short, but there's no tags for the short series, nor instructions on where to watch it, so I'm calling it a candid post. For PP Krit, there are two posts that I'm categorizing as 'Self-Sponsored' as one is for PP's own brand (Caremate) and the other is for a Car Repair shop owned by a family member. Later when I do math with this information those posts won't be included in the 'potential profit' as I can't guarantee he was paid, and if he was I doubt he charged his standard rate.
Tumblr media
Looking at Tutor 7/30 of his latest Instagram posts are ads/sponsored and 5 of the posts are 'couple' posts, meaning they also feature Yim. For Zee 10/30 are sponsored and 5 of those are 'couple' posts also featuring Nunew. It's also relevant that the earliest post I counted of Zee is from April 8, 2023, for PP is April 6, 2023, and the earliest one from Tutor is from December 6, 2022. Given that we have about 30 posts from Zee in 2 months, I'm simply not going to scroll back to December to see what the comparison is time wise, but if the ratio remained the same 10/30 in 2 months, that would equal 30/90 over 6 months, with 15 being 'couple posts'. So you can see the difference made in terms of money brought in by more 'popular' actors. If we stick with our $ 1000 per post cost for individual posts, and double that for 'couple posts' ($ 1000/per actor) that's $ 45,000.00 total brought in and $ 9,000 kept by Domundi as commission. For Tutor, in the same 6 month span, he (and partially Yim) brought in $ 12,000, with Domundi keeping $ 2,400 as commission. That's a marked difference for Domundi. And completely ignoring the very high likelihood that Zee is probably bringing in 2 to 3 times what Tutor his because of his popularity and longer time in the industry. If we look at those same number with PP, he has 15/30 posts that are Ad/Sponsored, at $ 1000 per post that's $ 15,000 directly in PP's pocket essentially, since he has his own independent company that represents him. Which causes it's own complications, as he has many more sponsored and ad posts on his company account, many of which he also appears in with Billkin. (Sidenote: I actually find it fascinating that there's no sponsored/ad posts featuring Billkin on his personal account, in fact it's surprisingly rare for him to post Billkin on his account at all outside of stories, at least recently.) So all of this to say, you can see how having these actors promoted in pairs is more profitable for the company as far as ad promotion.
Tumblr media
The additional benefit is we're looking at is fans being able to follow pairs through different stories. Like many fans of media, we will often find actors we enjoy, and then proceed to actively work to watch different projects they are in because we like them, find them to be incredibly talented, think they're handsome, etc. This general expectation is capitalized on by companies by having pairs act opposite each other in multiple stories. At this point for ZeeNunew and TutorYim, we've seen both in the Cutie Pie series, but both also have future work to look forward to. I've previously mentioned the BL Tiktok shorts with TutorYim, and they are going to be the leads in Middleman's Love, which is due to come out at the end of the year. ZeeNunew have a new film, After Sundown, as well as new series The Next Prince, and will be returning as Lian and Kuea in Naughty Babe as second leads. All of these future shows and series are produced by Domundi, meaning they will get a portion of profits from appearances, merchandise, etc. that goes along with those series, as well as the potential ads or product placement in the shows. There’s also a high likelihood that product placement in Naughty Babe will garner a higher price, as it’s a spin-off of an already popular show with already popular actors, where Middleman’s Love, as the first series showing Tutor and Yim as leads, would be ‘cheaper’.
Tumblr media
Fanservice as perceived by Fans
Now this can be difficult to break down, because it all depends on the fan. Fanservice as a concept is widely understood by Thai fans. They actively recognize that it exists, and they enjoy it. Other East Asian countries also recognize that Thai BL employs fanservice, and while they accept and enjoy it, they generally do not want to see the practice taken up by BL actors in their own country. In fact, it’s generally rare for actors in BL series in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, etc., to have actors paired for multiple series, outside of appearing as the same characters over various series. The first to come to mind is the characters of Bo Xiang and Zhi Gang from HIStory 3 having in a small guest appearance in HIStory 4, played by the same actors, Wilson Liu and Zhang Han Yuan. Because they are rarely kept as an acting pair, fanservice outside of the actual scripted media is not expected and would have little benefit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moving away from East Asian, very particularly to Western, audiences where fanservice is something that many media consumers ONLY expect to see in the media itself, never outside of it. Speaking as a western fan myself, I was genuinely surprised at the amount of ‘bonus content’ that is the expected norm with Thai BL’s. The fan meets, sponsored events, concerts, the vlogs and excursions, the behind-the-scenes content, all of it is generally beyond what I am used to as an avid media fan. Director/or actor commentary, behind the scenes documentaries, while popular generally fell out of favor with the decrease in popularity of physical DVDs, as it was originally intended to be a selling point of purchasing DVDs instead of VHS. (But honestly, that’s a different post.)  And observing the behavior as someone with the perspective of a western fan, it is both the requisite behaviors of fanservice, as well as the difference in cultural norms, that causes confusion and blurs lines. The number one thing that is seen as surprising by western fans of East Asian media, is skinship, particularly skinship between two men.
Tumblr media
The concept of skinship isn’t directly unfamiliar to western people but is generally something that occurs between direct family members (parent-child or siblings) or between romantic couples. In East Asian culture it’s moves beyond familial and romantic bonds to include all platonic bonds as well. You can expect to see skinship practiced between any two people who are close and feel affection for each other. So, in the context of fanservice and Thai BL acting pairs, not every occurrence of skinship (hugs, holding hands, sitting especially close, playing with hair, fingers, etc.) is fanservice, but it is a tool in the fanservice armory. Given that it is a cultural norm, and that many of these actors are at least well known to each other and friendly, it is likely an easy one to enact in the name of fanservice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watching these interactions through a western lens however, causes the viewer to more easily see the behavior in a romantic context. And there’s honestly a lot of factors that play into that, the biggest being ‘masculinity ideals’ where most western cultures don’t promote or encourage men to show affection outside of family (generally strictly parents or children) or romantic couples. Then you also have good ol’ homophobia, men don’t want to show too much affection towards other men for fear of being seen as gay. And this is a very broad sort of description, as the ‘norms’ for what is acceptable platonic contact will of course differ in immigrant families, or indigenous communities, or among black Americans, even just geographically. I’m just a white person speaking from their own experience and observation, though I do have the benefit of knowing, working with, and interacting with a remarkably wide variety of humans.
Why is Fanservice a ‘Problem’?
If it’s widely understood that fanservice is an extension of the acting, that it’s very often something required by contract, that it’s not an indicator of a romantic or sexual relationship, then it’s not a problem. But that’s not widely understood. And that lack of understanding or even the preference of fans to ignore that knowledge has created a problem in the Thai BL industry. We’ve watched over the last several months personal attacks on actors for ‘queerbaiting’ (which is a term intended ONLY for fictional characters), fan clubs being upset over actors going to appearances alone or without the other half of their acting pair, personal attacks on close friends of actors (very particularly female friends), and even the attacking of an employee and friend of an actor for ‘pushing the fanservice agenda’. What is intended to be cute and fun, is turning into something that is having real life negative effects, both on the actors themselves, but also people connected to these actors. It’s also spreading beyond Thai BL, with fans (mostly western fans) being upset at non-Thai actors for not engaging in fanservice.
Tumblr media
Fanservice, by virtue of it being monetizable, also indirectly exploits the Queer community. This is something that’s recognized and often brought up by western fans, as culturally, we’ve reached a point where the expectation is that Queer media will cast Queer actors in roles. This is done specifically in an attempt to help Queer actors to get more roles in the entertainment industry in general (which is a worthy goal) but is also only considered in the context that while being an out Queer person in the West is easier/safer than in many other places around the world. Many Western nations have not only marriage equality, but anti-discrimination laws that give additional protection to Queer people. And even with these laws there are still hundreds of thousands of Queer people who don’t feel comfortable being openly out in all aspects of their lives. In many East Asian countries, legal protection against discrimination is not guaranteed, and even in those countries with anti-discrimination laws, there’s often caveats. And that’s completely setting aside societal discrimination, which would be a top concern for these actors. Taking Thailand specifically, homosexuality isn’t illegal, but there are no laws in place for marriage equality or even the recognition of same-sex relationships. While there are anti-discrimination laws in place, those rest on the ability of a Queer person to PROVE discrimination, which opens its own can of worms.
Tumblr media
So, what I’m saying in regard to monetizing or exploiting the Queer community, is that it is understandably frustrating for actual Queer people in Thailand to see actors ‘performing’ queerness through fanservice, and being rewarded for it, while many regular citizens are living in situations where being out could be damaging to their livelihoods, cause loss of friendships or family relationships, and even put them in physical danger. Now, are some of these actors part of the Queer community? We know for certain that some are, we know for certain that some aren’t, but the vast majority we don’t have any concrete knowledge of their sexuality or Queer identity (and we are NOT entitled to it!).  But it would be understandable and reasonable, given the current political and societal landscape of many of these countries, that any actor would have to very seriously consider potential ramifications of being out. Like any Queer person anywhere, there’s a laundry list of considerations that have to be addressed. Top of the list is ‘Would I be physically safe if I came out?’ but you also have to consider possible negative effects on your career, the potential limitations if you want to move outside of BL to mainstream content. We also have VERY clear examples of societal discrimination and hatred towards openly Queer actors, both from ‘local’ fans as well as international fans. But we do very often see BL actors being openly supportive of their local Queer community, promoting proactive voting in elections, and even this past week making appearances at PRIDE events. This is in addition to potential work they are doing quietly to support the community, like donating to non-profits that work to assist or advocate for Queer people, both individually and as a whole.
Tumblr media
So, What’s the Solution?
I have no idea. I stated in the very beginning that I’m not here to give solutions. (That’s above my pay-grade.) But I do have some ideas. Now, these are not going to be the easiest for many BL fans to hear, I’m sure. They bother me too, to be honest.
I think an excellent first step is to have companies be upfront about whether fanservice is part of actor’s contracts. We know for a fact that BOC does not contractually obligate fanservice, but any other production or management company that works in BL more than likely does, though the scale and level of expectation may vary. I don’t 100% know if this would actively work, at least initially, because the actors themselves are aware that fanservice can help to raise their popularity, which enables them to be contracted for ads, sponsored social media posts, and appearances, which is how most of these actors make the majority of their money, NOT through the pay they receive for their actual acting work. So, they may perform fanservice as it’s currently known even if it’s not contractually required, but I do at least prefer the actors being in control of the level of fanservice they take part in, if any.
Tumblr media
A second step, or option, is to have companies not solely send actors to events in their ‘pairs,’ and not keep them in the same pair for multiple series. I think if a company took the step and intentionally mixed up their ‘pairings’, specifically those from lead roles, then we would see less direct attachment to the ‘pairs’ and more to the actors as individuals. This could help in the long term prevent the fallout we’ve recently seen from acting pairs “breaking up,” very specifically the hateful attacks we’ve seen directed at the separate parties. But I think it could also prevent the fans from ‘choosing sides’ as I’ve also been seeing frequently in online BL spaces. In other direct online discussions, I’ve likened it to having a friend couple break up, and all of the other friends in the group essentially have to pick a side. Sometimes, you knew one person before they were a couple, and you stick with them. On occasion, one of the people will have done something terrible, and even if you knew them first, you stick with the other person. But often these are people who became your friend already a couple, and neither really did anything wrong, they just grew apart…so is it right to throw one aside in favor of the other?? Or is it more reasonable and realistic to maintain friendships with both separately? In a similar fashion, when BL pairs go their separate ways, isn’t it more reasonable to continue to follow them separately, assuming you find them both to be equally talented, versus putting one aside?
As a supplement to my suggestion of not maintaining static pairings I made this lil picker wheel with the actors at GMMTV...
…to be honest I’m quite intrigued by the idea of First and Gun. Both are phenomenal actors. I can picture the vibe of a potential story, based mostly on my desire to see Gun as a homme-fatale. PICTURE IT: Gun is a sultry assassin, beautiful and deadly, First is the ever-weary federal agent on his tail…but he begins to find an interesting connection amongst Gun’s ‘victims’, they’re all users and abusers, arguably far more detrimental to society than Gun himself. As he tracks down Gun and learns more about him…he begins to fall for him. In the end…does he stay true to the commitments he made to his country, or does he breaks those promises in favor of following his heart??

Anyway...this was 3,500 words. Hopefully some of them made sense. PLEASE share your thoughts, if you have any on this subject. I'd be especially interested if you are outside of the US.

Fjfjfjfjfjfjf what!?!?
Tumblr media
let me explain the gyuri boyfriend lore
they started dating in 2019, broke up in 2021
he is the grandson of guy who was once in charge of major construction business so the whole family is rich
they were known for being a noona - dongsaeng couple bc of 7 years age gap.... officially. but then after his car accident he was exposed for ageing himself up 5 years because 'young people aren't treated seriously in business' so in reality they have 12 years age gap 🫣
you'll be the judge. him at 21:
Tumblr media
the news about his age came out loong after they broke up, when he announced he's gonna take part in elections and... gyuri subposted him on ig story
On January 12th 2022, KARA Park Gyu-ri posted six letters with an ambiguous meaning on her Instagram story. What she wrote was “loss of humanity”. Some people speculate that she might have written this after knowing about the recent issue related to her ex-boyfriend Song Ja-ho. However, this is just speculation, and there is a possibility that it was written as she wanted to express an opinion on social issues or her personal matter.
june 2021 ... dui
According to media outlets, Gyuri’s boyfriend Song Ja Ho, also known as the eldest grandson of Dongwon Construction founder Song Seung Hun, was caught drunk driving in Cheongdamdong. He reportedly fled the scene after hitting another vehicle in the parking lot. At the time, his blood-alcohol level was high enough for the cancellation of his license. Song is also accused of confinement as he allegedly confined a woman in the car even when she requested to be dropped off.
september 2021 official breakup confirmation (to be fair a lot of korean celeb couples not rarely release breakup announcements late, to the point you have actors talk about their ex on variety shows like they are still dating bc officially they are... all while their new partener co-star promoting the same drama on the same show is watching 🫣 jiyeon's ex did that. there's a whole i think happy together episode that's super awkward to watch... later he married the co-star but they are now divorced and co-parenting)
official reason was 'oh we are both having busy schedules, it's hard to meet'
they both deleted all photos of each other etc from ig right away. and they were a very public couple, they did charity stuff together and were pretty known
before i start the fraud part, gyuri did post on ig that she was unaware of what he was up to 🧐
If I did something wrong, my biggest mistake was not ending things earlier. As I stated in my official position, I am not involved, so I hope everyone writes based on the facts that have been revealed. — Park Gyuri
so basically 2 weeks ago he was released on bail after 7 months of detention
The Seoul Southern District Court’s Criminal Agreement 12th Division granted Song’s bail application on February 5, setting the stage for a trial that involves nearly 14,000 victims and a scam amounting to approximately ₩33.9 billion KRW (about $25.5 million USD).
Song Ja Ho, who ran a shared economy art company, was arrested last July. The charges against him were severe, involving violations of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. Song was accused of recruiting investors to put money into artworks that he had not secured and then manipulating the market price of a virtual asset known as PicaCoin. Alongside brothers Lee Hee Jin and Lee Hee Moon, Song is suspected of a massive embezzlement scheme that has left thousands defrauded.
The court has set stringent conditions for Song’s bail, including a 200 million won bail bond, a prohibition on leaving the country, the requirement to wear an electronic device for real-time location tracking, and restrictions on his residence. These measures reflect the court’s attempt to mitigate the risk of flight, given the gravity of the accusations. This case is particularly notable because of Song’s high-profile connections and ambitions. Prior to his arrest, Song declared his candidacy for the Seoul Seocho Gu National Assembly by-election, signaling his interest in entering the political arena.

Facts about Choi Jung Gun
(Spoiler alert, I guess?)
he was a Korean teen who suddenly got transported by the God of Death into a fantasy universe, presumably with no warning (just like Choi Han who's from the same family, from probably the same universe – Choi Jung Gun was his youngest uncle from his father's side)
he either landed right in the middle of the war against the Original White Star, the patriarch of the Crossman household, or right before it began, so he was pretty much screwed since the start
his landing point was the same Forest of Darkness where Choi Han ended up, and that was where he met with the Guardian/Super Rock, whom he considered "a mister with a terrible attitude" 😂
unlike Choi Han, our beloved terrible actor, he decided to act like he belonged in this new world despite "Nature trying to reject him" – whatever that means, so he completely made up a fake identity for himself to blend in, with a very nerdy name too – what kind of first name is "Nelan"?? Isn't that the surname of some Canadian rock band guitarist??? It sounds 100% like a Korean teen desperately trying to sound Western and cool 🤣
he originally had no skills aside from the "Dominating Aura" – a "bluff" power which allowed him to trick his opponents into thinking that he was strong. But it also raised his allies' morale and protected them from the Blood-Drenched Rocks' power, which the Guardian used to end the war
he was the only survivor from the final battle of the Super Rock vs the Original White Star and got some major PTSD from it, judging from his journal entry in the Dragon Slayer Village – in which he expressed severe survivor's guilt, just like the Vitality of the Heart
he became friends with a dragon at some point, Sheritt, who was considered "weak" and "unusual" – since dragons are supposed to be selfish and dislike humans, so it's weird for one to befriend a human, or to have the attribute of "protection". Perhaps it was due to Choi Jung Gun's influence??
Sheritt and Choi Jung Gun were both nerds who came up with the with the whole "Dragon Slayer" concept, just because it sounded cool 😂
he scammed the whole world and made them believe he was a super powerful hero, gathering many powerful individuals by his side – and entrusting the truth behind his "power" to his closest companions
he made a vow with Sheritt (at least I assume it was him, Sheritt only stated that she made it "with the Dragon Slayer at the time", so it could have been someone else... but I doubt it) to protect the Castle of Light with her two eggs, and made his successors continue doing so as well as part of being the leader of the Dragon Slayers. He also passed on his fake name "Barrow" as part of the leader's inheritance, since he had no wife or kids
after being left behind by Sheritt, who gave up 200 years of her life to leave an illusion version of herself for her children in the castle, he gave up his own lifespan to create the Dragon Blood-Drinking Crown (what was he thinking???) and the Sword of Disasters. So we can conclude that he didn't cope well with the loneliness or his longevity, I guess
he was a Single-Lifer, someone who doesn't reincarnate, and due to his dimension-travelling shenanigans – courtesy of the God of Death – his lifespan was extended to be... probably longer than a Dragon's, actually? Since Choi Han was supposed to live longer than Raon Miru, despite Raon being younger than him by at least a century. So Choi Jung Soo probably gave up more than 200 years of his life to create his powers. No wonder the Sword of Disasters is so powerful...
he rejected some Divine position – probably Godhood – and became the Divine equivalent of a mercenary called a Wanderer, I think. It wasn't 100% clear
at some point he started to hate the Hunters and became obsessed with killing them all?? Maybe they were behind the Ancient White Star's rise to power? Who knows. But it kind of drove him crazy, judging by how he acted with Cale in the Sloth Test
he travelled more dimensions and did all kind of crazy stuff to get rid of the Hunters – including going to high school again. Crazy bastard... (Also, it proves he really still looks like a teen, lol. Poor guy)
he used young Kim Rok Soo as bait, so he's morally grey at best by this point. Poor guy – immortality and loneliness really did drive him insane, it seems
also he wrote a series of very suspiciously detailed books about the future in the TCF world, so he probably regressed at some point?? Or at spoke with a regressor – maybe future Choi Han??? Who knows! He definitely couldn't know everything from just the God of Death, since the Gods don't seem to be able to read people's minds (why else would no God believe in Cale's desire for Slacker Life...? 🤣)
his narrator POV in "The Birth of a Hero" makes it clear that while Choi Jung Gun had never been in a relationship (looking like a teenager for eternity would make romance difficult I guess), he was a total SIMP for King Shickler and the Whales, whom he described as "so beautiful they made Elves look like squids in comparison" 😂

[ARTICLE] Lay Zhang Signs With Range MEdia (EXCLUSIVE)
Tumblr media
Range Media Partners has signed Chinese actor, singer-songwriter, dancer and fashion icon Lay Zhang and will represent him globally across all areas.
The 31-year-old star, who operates under multiple pseudonyms including Lay and Little Sheep, rose to fame as a former member of K-Pop boyband EXO before launching a solo career, already is a household name in Asia, boasting more than 80 million followers across social media.
As an actor, he stars under his full name Zhang Yixing in the Chinese box office smash “No More Bets,” which has earned more than $527 million in China to date, becoming the country’s biggest hit of the summer. Zhang is now the youngest and fifth-ever Chinese actor to reach this box office milestone. “No More Bets” also received a limited release in the U.S. on Sept. 1.
Next year, he will be seen starring opposite Jackie Chan in the film “A Legend.” His other film credits include films “The Island” and “Kung Fu Yoga,” and he has also appeared on the TV series “Go Fighting!” and “Idol Producer,” serving as a judge and host on the latter.
Since his rise as a core member of EXO, he embarked on a solo career, with his debut EP “Lose Control” hitting No. 4 on Billboard’s U.S. World Albums chart. He is the first Chinese solo artist to hit the Top 25 on the Billboard 200 and the first Chinese solo artist to hit Top 5 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart.
In August, Zhang’s “Grand Line Tour” concerts in Shenzhen and Beijing immediately sold out, with more than 30,000 tickets purchased within seconds of going on pre-sale, leading to additional concerts being added in Shanghai, Nanjing and Chongqing.
As a global brand ambassador, Zhang is currently working with Hublot, Sprite, Fila and Bang & Olufsen. He was Calvin Klein’s first Chinese global spokesperson for their underwear and jean lines and the first Valentino, Converse, Perrier, MAC and Daniel Wellington spokesperson in China.
“Lay Zhang is exactly the type of artist Range was built for. He’s a true multihyphenate with global appeal,” said Range Music managing partner Cory Litwin and Range co-founder and CEO Peter Micelli in a joint statement. “With the recent breakthrough success of his latest film, ‘No More Bets,’ his presence onscreen shows big box office potential.”
Zhang, who is fluent in Mandarin, Korean and English, joins a Range Music roster that has made impressive strides since its inception two years ago. The division launched its own label in partnership with Capitol Music Group and Virgin Music & Artist Label Services and represents a wide range of talent including Jack Harlow, Saweetie, Justin Tranter, Cordae, Midland, Murda Beatz and Nicky Romero. The division earned seven Grammy nominations this year, with Nova Wav nabbing two awards for its production and songwriting work on Beyonce’s “Renaissance.”

LGC STUDIOS ( Q2 2024 )
SCHEDULE TYPE: BI-WEEKLY GIG SCHEDULE RESTRICTIONS: for reference as to whether your muse is eligible for this event, please click over HERE.
thanks to BAE SIWOO and SEO HANEUL’s radio show and the influence it has with the public, LEGACY decided to have their own building called LGC STUDIOS ( similar to dive studios ). all the vlive shows that were once filmed in the small practice rooms have been expanded, allowing hosts to have their own show in a bigger space. furthermore, as more celebrities dive in to the world of podcasting so has the company too! this means that there will be additional rooms for people to film and record their podcast shows.
for Q2 2024, LEGACY has brought back the youtube shows and podcasts for trainees ( excluding muses participating in NKND ) to partake in. for the muses who have done CASTING CALL 016, we strongly advise to please wait until APRIL 14 to decide whether to sign-up for this event. as mentioned previously, all of the youtube shows and podcasts have different requirements so please read through the bottom portion before pitching to us any ideas you may have!
YOUTUBE SHOWS ( NEW )
to host a show and pitch an idea:
a trainee must have at least +50 VARIETY and +70 KOREAN. please keep in mind their skills while pitching an idea — someone who has 50 variety points but 0 hosting points will be best suited for a game show or something similar to it.
you may not team up with another muse, but remember that there will be a guest on every episode.
management of the calendar and guests will be up to you; however, keep the main updated quickly for us to post when the episodes air on our lgcmedia sheet!
duration of the gig is from APRIL to JUNE. this could be extended if your muse is interested and if requirements are met.
before pitching an idea, please note that this is a long term commitment ( 3 months minimum ) and will require you to write multiple threads during this period of time.
since the show is biweekly, there will be 4 episodes ( each episode is 50 minutes ).
you may write up to three ( 3 ) threads of four ( 4 ) replies minimum each to collect +3 MCING/HOSTING, +3 VARIETY, and +3 NOTORIETY per episode (for a maximum total of +9 MCING/HOSTING, +9 VARIETY, and +9 NOTORIETY).
to be eligible to keep your show another season, you must complete the writing requirements for at least 2 THREADS.
to be a guest on a show:
for those who aren’t interested in having a regular show or simply don’t have the minimum skills required, it will still be possible for your muses to participate! once shows are announced, hosts will be tasked to post a call for guests.
trainees and any MODELS, ACTORS, or IDOLS with less than 200 notoriety at the time of this post can participate as a guest. if the MODEL or ACTOR with less than 200 notoriety has a personal channel currently, they can still participate as a guest on a youtube show.
if there is more than one show ongoing — since open slots are limited ( 4 per show ) — your muse may only guest on one show OR podcast during a trimester. they cannot be in both to allow other people to participate as well.
for the time being, hosts cannot guest on another show or podcast.
to avoid overwhelming hosts, they aren’t obligated to thread with their four ( 4 ) guests and may only collect points for two ( 2 ) threads.
guests without threads will be rewarded +1 MCING/HOSTING, +1 VARIETY, +1 NOTORIETY.
guests with threads will be rewarded +2 MCING/HOSTING, +1 VARIETY, +1 NOTORIETY.
a muse cannot guest two seasons in a row on the same show.
PODCASTS ( NEW )
to host a show and pitch an idea:
a trainee must have at least +50 MCING/HOSTING and +80 KOREAN. because podcasts are more of a talk show, the concept idea should be related to that.
you may not team up with another muse, but remember that there will be a guest on every episode.

Hey I'm actually taking you up on the Asian film recommendations. Any genre except outright horror is a go! (:
You've come to the right person (I abhor horror and would never recommend that to anyone)! <3
I will preface this by saying that everyone should watch Fullmetal Alchemist if they haven't already LOL it truly the best anime ever. 10 stars for Arakawa! My second-ranked anime is Naruto, but Kishimoto's depictions of females is laughable at best and downright sexist at worst lmao. I recently binged Spy x Family too, which I really enjoyed!
Off the top of my head, some recommendations I have are:
Ghibli films (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for all tbh, Ghibli never disappoints): Kiki's Delivery Service Whisper of the Heart Howl's Moving Castle Spirited Away Castle in the Sky and the usual suspects :) honorary mention goes to Kimi no na Wa because I was a total wreck on the plane watching that show (and I got to visit the iconic staircase irl that inspired that scene this year, which was a real treat!).
Dramas: 花より男子 Hana Yori Dango (aka Boys Over Flowers; there are also Korean and Taiwanese adaptations of the same) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Goong/Princess Hours (a real Korean classic, also the cast is so attractive) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ King of Baking 🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞 Vagabond (not horror, but there are elements of thriller! the budget for this was insane lmao and it had me so on edge I had to go through the episodes at 1.5x speed hahaha) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Witch at Court ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Business Proposal (had such a fun time bingeing this one with @tsaritsa) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Familiar Wife ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Extraordinary Attorney Woo ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Shooting Stars (the male lead is so my type lmao) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Little Women (both the movie directed by Greta Gerwig, and the k-drama that came out not too long ago haha!!) ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tearjerkers (includes both films and dramas; this is going to be a long list because this is my ultimate guilty pleasure):
Japanese *1リットルの涙 1 Litre of Tears (warning: the title lives up to its name. make sure tissues are accessible at all times) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Midnight Sun (there is a drama and movie available; the drama lead is played by YUI, who sang FMA's 'Again'!) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Koizora (translates to 'Sky of Love') ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My Rainy Days ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Korean A Millionaire's First Love ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ No Breathing (my friend and I walked out of the cinema drenched in tears lmao the actors really ate and left no crumbs) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beethoven's Virus (@nightofnyx8 I feel like you would love this, plus the OST makes me cry every time...) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 200 Pounds Beauty ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Taiwanese 那些年 (Na Xie Nian / Those Bygone Years -- I think the official English title was 'The Apple of my Eye') ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our Times / 我的少女時代 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As an aside, the movie adaptation of Rurouni Kenshin was actually stellar and the only film adaptation of anime that I personally deem acceptable (let's not talk about the FMA movies... 😂). Another one that will always hold dear to my heart is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (Cloud was my very first kid-crush before I even knew what that was lmao).
I'm sure everyone has heard of Everything Everywhere All at Once by now -- that was truly spectacular and wacky, I loved it!
Lowkey obliged to recommend Crazy Rich Asians since it was filmed in my hood, but if I'm being brutally honest this movie was probably a 5/10 at best for my bf and I lol, I personally preferred Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby (10 ⭐️s from me). Speaking of Constance Wu, Fresh Off the Boat was really funny (also available on Disney+ I think)!
Most of these should be available on Netflix, if not Youtube/other random online sources should work (and generally have subtitles as well)! Most if not all of the above have AMAZING OSTs as well :')
Happy watching, dearest! 💕 and of course if anyone has any further recs feel free to drop them :)

some scrambled thoughts post moving (2023)
i might need to watch the series again to catch some details so excuse me if I'm confused about the obvious. but spoiler alert, to those who haven't watched it.
me when the temporary teacher got stabbed: (blinks)... i mean I don't like you, not that I want you to die either. oh well.
so what was bang kisoo looking for loitering in the school like that? his files to better his report? the files of the ones with powers to verify things? maybe han byul's memory card too? to observe what had happened in the gym? to pick up a fight with kanghoon? man i lost somethings really...
...so kisso wasn't the one to sabotage that jumpboard?
it was that temp teacher/agent?
anyway what is wrong with that tempt teacher honestly - did he sabotage kisoo's ankle just to find out if he has power or just out of sheer distaste like...?
gosh i hate him now, but he died! we'd never know his motives!
(the way this drama have 20 ep but i still have questions)
(it's the flashbacks. too many flashbacks when we could've gotten new scenes. i always hate this abt kdramas)
on the good side, kisoo going soft and protective with han byul when he realized the NK agents aren't here to play
that was a really short and sudden ship but o ma gosh the potential
hyewon too deserved more screen time - like suddenly moving schools too?
like honestly a bummer that they're graduating college - bongseok, huisoo, hyewon, han byul, ganghoon and kisoo would have been such a good friend group (or pairing, if you want it that way. the potential is there, honestly)
anyway about kanghoon - takes-his-duty-seriously class president kanghoon
wanna see him working as an agent/civil servant in the NIS
working under that seagull guy? *rubs hand excitedly* is gonn be fun honestly, man we need a SEQUEL we really do!! the next gen of supers is gonn wreck some stuff, i can feel it!
i came to this show to see mihyun and doosik but ended up being such a fan of guryongpo
mr ryu was the topmost actor in the wikipedia page so i was like, oh he's the main main guy turns out!
he came to any scene and i was like "guryongpo! he's alive! huisoo appa! 희수 아빠 멋있다! 희수 아빠 화이팅!!"
best man, best partner, best husbando, best dad
i thought frank rolling over him with that truck again and again was bad but then he had 200 gang members breaking his bones with their cars like... you've been through a lot sir.
episodes abt his and jaehee's married life was either the cutest or the most heartbreaking like staph, my heart cannot heal itself
unconventional couples are the cutest i swear by it
huisoo >< jaehee: helps lost adult men on the roadsides
juwon >< jaeman: protective dads
on a more depressing note, that useless jo principal might have orchestrated jaehee's accident.
maybe just to see if huisoo has powers. the wife dies as consequence? not my problem, i'm just gonna wait in this car.
his death seemed excruciating. well deserved, i might say.
and Frank still didn't die either lol not even fire stops him
curious as to what he's gonna do next 0.0
(crack suggestion: he can work at the chicken shop and they can rename the shop as immortal chickens)
(i don't know how huisoo got yongdeuk to work at the shop but if she can persuade her dad to take in a defector, she can persuade him to take in an assassin that once wanted to kills him)
(that's jaehee's passion running through her)
is elias gonna be worse or what? also a korean native?...gotta see that episode again to look at the boys
another thing i feel robbed off: reunions.
moonsan and guryongpo needs to meet up I NEED TO SEE IT
code names?? f- that, name's kim doosik. you're my hyung now, let's work well together.
THEY WERE PARTNERS FOLKS, PARTNERS. DOOSIK LEFT JUWON HIS KNIFE GAH
THE KIMS AND THE JANGS NEED TO EAT DONKASS AND CHIKIN TOGETHER!!!
(imagine the conversation abt huisoo and bongseok relationship will go abt lol)
(JW: sunbae, i respect you a lot, i'm glad you're back, but that's my only daughter-- DS: hyung, i just got to know my son again this year-- MH (towards the kids): i knew it, you two are just the sweetest!)
you know, for someone who doesn't know if her husband is alive or dead for 13-14 year but constantly waits for his return by leaving hints, mihyun is very composed at seeing dusik just landing on her rooftop
i don't know if i should credit that to her training as a black agent or toughened up by being a single mum for that long
but she didn't even react at seeing jang juwon at the teacher's office although it's been like, 24 years and suddenly you're here coz your kid's in the same school as mine? coincidence? I think not! this institution is more slippery than fish!
mihyun's really cool like, she's still that sharp and quick even after doing office jobs, farming, single-parenting and managing a restaurant. what a role model. you really don't forget your training huh?
Yellow Man Bongseok - Bunggaeman being his inspiration is just--

INDIES TOP 1036 ACTORS & ACTRESSES (COMBINED LIST) IN THE HISTORY OF W-O-R-L-D C-I-N-E-M-A !
Welcome one & all, to Indies latest & as we believe most seminal researching in the field of entt & performing arts, charting out the All-Time Top 1036 World Actors & Actresses (Joint) List! Correspondingly offering some insight into another fun comparative analysis- Namely, The Top Cinematic Nations of The World for last 125 yrs & 20th c. in particular!
NOTE: In Nos 1-100 : 46 of these names in Positions 1-100  are awarded predominantly for their contribution to US cinema! 25 for contribution to Welsh cinema! 20 for French cinema! 8 for their service to Indian cinema (incl 3 in Top 5) ! & 1 from Pak cinema!
NOTE: In Nos 101-200 : Half ie 50 names honored from French cinema alone, including a veritable deluge of French actresses placed in this segment! Followed by Russian cinema with the next highest 31 cinematic legends! Thereafter US with 10 big cinematic names, India with 3 legendary awardees, UK with 3 biggies, Welsh with 2, & Pak with 1 honoree !
NOTE: In Nos 201-300: All 100 names gracing this segment extraordinarily being the beautifully talented Leading Lades of 20th century French cinema !
NOTE: Positions 301-400 are greatly occupied by French actresses numbering 68, foll'd by Rus actors at 17, US+Canadian actors at 13, & 2 Indians.
NOTE: Nearly 2/3rd of the entire 400-500 segment lorded over by Korean cinema! Foll'd yet again by French cinema that will emerge as the biggest provider of world-class artistry, esp in the middle 1/3rd of this all-time world list! NOTE: Once again, ~ 100% in Positions 500-600, belonging to the magical & historically rich French cine world! Undoubtedly & by far the most cinematically powerful & overall artistically enriching industry in the world (even if sadly alienated by lang, from majority English-speaking diaspora) ! NOTE: More than half the 600-700 segment, again dominated by Cinema Francais, followed by the, first & soon-to-be overwhelmingly noticeable, entry of Italian cinema into the mix (even if in last 1/3rd of the world list), with half a dozen contributions from Indian & British cinema each ! NOTE : ~100% domination from 700-800 of Cine Italiano! And even more ahead, "Bellissimo"! NOTE: Plaudits from 800-900 shared close to equally yet again in these lower segments, btwn France & Italy, with India quietly yet assuredly sneaking in half a dozen legends into the big picture, & Cuba the newer entrant! NOTE: Nearly 40% of the final 900-1036 segment belonging to Korean cine stars, with Russia next at 1/4th, then UK-France-Italy-Japan together sharing nearly 2/3rd of the remainder, & India yet again consistently (from 1st to last!) lending it's half a dozen & some. With China for first time alongside US after long making their presence felt. NOTE: In terms of sheer numbers > The full list of Top 1036 Actors & Actresses in World History, includes:
 I) 493 French super cine stars,
 II) 185 Italian screen giants,
III) 98 South Korean cine excellences,
Joint IV) & V) being the 72 Russian cine stalwarts & 72 icons of US cinema,
VI) 53 superlative artists of UK-Welsh cinema,
VII) 36 Indian silver screen legends (incl the All-Time World No. 1 & 3 in Top 5!),
 VIII) 14 Japanese hero-heroines,
IX) 3 from Cuba ,
X)-XI)-XII) 2 legends from Pakistan & Egypt & China each.
NOTE: In terms of quality weightages for contributions made per nation (largely in the 20th century & thereabouts) > Using different weightages for different positioned artists, herein weight of 3000 for those in Top 20, 1000 in Top 100, 700 in Top 200, 600 in Top 300,  400 in Top 400, 250 in Top 500, 150 in Top 600, 100 in Top 700, 70 in top 800, 50 in Top 900, & 40 thereon uptil position 1036.. (We arrive at the following calculations, as plain for all to see - Fr – 0*3000 + 20*1000 + 50*700 + 100*600  + 68*400 + 37*250 +  99*150 + 54*100 + 0*70 + 48*50 + 17*40 = 1,74,780 Ita – 0+ 0 + 0+ 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 33*100 + 98*70 + 41*50 + 13*40 =  15,810 South Korea -  0+ 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 61*250 + 0+ 0 + 0 + 0 + 37*40 = 16,730 Russia – 0 + 0 + 31*700 + 0 + 17*400 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 24*40 = 29,460 US – 5*3000  + 41*1000 + 10*700 + 0 + 13*400 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 2*40 =  68,280. UK-Welsh – 7*3000 + 18*1000 + 3*700 + 0 + 0 + 1*250 + 1*150 + 6*100 + 0 + 0 + 18*40 = 42,820 India – 3*3000 + 5*1000 + 3*700 + 0 + 2*400 + 0 + 0 + 6*100 + 2*70 + 7*50 + 8*40 =  18,310 .
Japan – 14*40 = 560
Pakistan – 1*1000 + 1*700 = 1,700
Egypt - 1*400 + 1*40 - 440 Cuba – 2*50 + 1*100 = 200 China – 2*40 = 80. ) THUS ARRIVING AT OUR ASSESSMENT FOR THE 6-7 GREATEST CINE NATIONS ON EARTH, FOR THE 20TH C. ! 1. FRANCE ! -- LORDING OVER THE WORLD FIELD, PLACED ATLEAST 2.5+ TIMES AHEAD OF THE NEXT BEST, 'FRANCE & 'LA CINEMA FRANCAIS' RULING THE ROOST AS THE CLEAR NO. 1 FOR 1ST CENTURY OF CINEMA SINCE INCEPTION ! 2. USA ! 3. GREAT BRITAIN ! 4. RUSSIA ! 5. INDIA ! 6. SOUTH KOREA ! & 7. ITALY ! ( We realize this mode of assessing natl contributions to cinema may be a bit unorthodox, yet given that any of the other modes either don't offer any greater quantitative perspective, given the nature of art, Indies believe it to be as fair & accurate an angle for assessment as available. )

Elliptic analysts had predicted that the amount laundered through DEXs, bridges, and coin swaps would rise to $6.5 billion by the end of 2023 and $10.5 billion by 2025. Blockchain analytics platform Elliptic has found through recent on-chain analysis that criminals, including the notorious North Korean hacking group Lazarus, have laundered approximately $7 billion of illicit cryptocurrencies through decentralized exchanges (DEXs), cross-chain bridges, and coin swap services. According to a press release, the second edition of the State of Cross-chain Crime report revealed that sanctioned entities and terrorists now hold more than 80 crypto assets across over 26 blockchains. $7B in Crypto Laundered Through DEXs In the first and previous edition of The State of Cross-chain Crime report released in October 2022, Elliptic analysts had predicted that the amount laundered through DEXs, bridges, and coin swaps would rise to $6.5 billion by the end of 2023 and $10.5 billion by 2025. At the time, the amount of illicit assets laundered through these platforms was just over $4.1 billion. However, the current figure has exceeded Elliptic’s estimate to hit $7 billion. The company discovered an additional $2.7 billion was laundered through cross-chain and cross-asset services between July 2022 and July 2023. The Lazarus Group is the largest source of all illicit funds laundered through cross-chain bridges and the third largest for all cross-chain crime, being responsible for $900 million of the entire figure. The criminals now use more complex cross-chain methods like derivatives trading and limit orders to obscure their laundering activities. Tom Robinson, co-founder and chief scientist at Elliptic, said: “Over the past decade, Elliptic has helped to mitigate risk and bring transparency to blockchains by identifying and tracking illicit activities within the crypto ecosystem. Now, with the innovative insights from our Holistic blockchain analytics capabilities released last year, we’ve seen that cross-chain crime continues to grow, as bad actors continue to exploit services such as decentralized exchanges (DEXs), cross-chain bridges, and coin swap services.” Bad Actors Persist Via Hacks and Scams As the amount of crypto assets lingerie through DEXs, cross-chain bridges, and coin swaps continue to increase, bad actors have doubled down on the theft of tokens via hacks, exploits, and scams. CryptoPotato reported that approximately $332 million was lost to hackers and scammers in September, with a single attack leading to roughly $200 million in losses.
