Me putting myself through it to watch her live on insta for costume reasons - hilarious viewing for all the wrong reasons - you can try to back track all you like but your transphobia is showing in your inability to address it properly and quickly jumping to something else to avoid talking about it when you couldn’t avoid the comments!!!
Back to costume news the chain necklace is back and I think possibly another necklace that Ana wore (or possibly Taylor I can’t check my spreadsheet right now!!) along with a predominantly blue dress with yellow and green patterning on it and a lot of gathering elements (centre front and shoulders) - which is interesting - because it’s similar to some we saw Ana wearing and not something we’ve really seen on anyone else before!
Blue and yellow as a colour combination is queer coded (espeically mlm queer coding as I keep going on about!) plus blue is the girlfriend breakup colour - and with Marisol - we had her in yellow (trousers) and blue (blue flowers on her black top) when her and Eddie decided she should move out - when the first big nail was driven into the coffin - so with this being a louder bolder pattern - it hints at playing towards a similar theme.
I don’t know what scene it’s for (could be the firehouse commendation scene - which they’ve been filming today) or what Eddie is wearing opposite her for the scene (if it is his uniform - dress blues - then she’ll most likely just be there rather than it being a scene about her and Eddie per say)
I’m wondering if this might be - if not a full on break up - at the very least another major nail in the coffin of the relationship - if it is at the firehouse - perhaps setting her up as ‘other’ in the same way they did with Ana when she visited the 118 (who interestingly enough was in a yellow with blue and green top for that visit!!) or contrasting her once again with Buck and possibly with the other partners of the 118!
I’m not prepared to nail my flag to the this costume is a break up outfit mast right now, but I do think it has the potential to signal to us that’s where things are headed!!!
It’s super hard to read these things when you have zero context for the outfit - not even a set context - I don’t know where she’s been filming in that outfit to feel confident about anything right now - these are just some initial observations!

everyone is typing about how these relationships are doomed and how they spend this entire half telling you these relationships are not lasting and I just wanna know what is this evidence because the way Oliver is speaking Natalia sounds the farthest thing from doomed. I wanna have hope but IDK what people are talking about?
I'm repeating myself, but don't put too much stock in whatever Oliver says in interviews. He spoke very positively about Taylor too at the end of S4, and about Ali at the end of S2. He has no idea where the story is taking his character, and even if he disagreed with some choices (which we have no idea if he does or not) he would never say that to a reporter. His job is to say nice things about the show and that's what he'll do.
As for what people mean when they say the show told us the relationships won't last, well, of course a lot of it is just interpreting whatever we see on screen, and it's possible we're wrong. But it was an incredibly pointed choice to have Eddie tell Buck right to his (and our!) face that "dating someone you saved never ends well." Like, what was the point of having that line there? Lines don't just get thrown into a script willy-nilly, and they go through several revisions, so to leave that in there when both Eddie and Buck then go on to date someone they saved is a Choice. Then there's e.g. the narrative detail of Natalia being very interested in death while Buck is struggling with his own death and how to process it (a storyline that I at this point believe they will return to in S7, like they did with Eddie's PTSD in S5) and her saying she still doesn't understand why Buck helped Connor and Kameron concieve. Small details, but put them together and you kinda start narrowing your eyes suspiciously. To give a fandom example, we were all looking at all the small details of Eddie not doing well in 5A and predicting a breakdown incoming long before he left the 118 in 5x10 or we got it confirmed through promos for 5x13. It's media analysis, which is its own kind of pattern recognition.
There's also the fun detail of both Eddie and Buck being dressed in plaid in their scenes in the episode where they "officially get together" with their respective love interest. Kym @stagefoureddiediaz has analyzed the costume choices in the show and done by-episode breakdowns since sometime in S5 (she's worked with costuming in tv herself), and a constant pattern (heh) in the show has been to dress the characters in checked patterns to signal trouble ahead.

Dancing with the Stars Season 4 Week 9: Rewatch
Ballroom Round
Apolo and Julianne- Quickstep (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- I wanna start by saying that 2 things. 1) I think this is my favorite semi-finals that I have ever seen on this show. Everyone was amazing. 2) The dances are so long compared to what we see now. Now, Apolo was perfect. Everything was perfect. His posture was amazing. His technique was incredible. He performed it so well. Incredible.
Ian and Cheryl- Tango (Judges' Score=28, My Score=9)- Ian looked so confident out on the floor this time around. His footwork did get a little strange from time to time. But it was his best dance to date. He performed it so well. And other than the few not so great moments, it was really really really good. I thought CAI and Bruno were a little too harsh with their comments. Especially while still giving him 9s.
Laila and Maks- Quickstep (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- I love Laila's costume for this dance. Anyway, this dance was so good. Her posture was much improved. The dance was done so well. They did a good job of protecting Laila's knees by giving her a slight break from heels and using sandals. It worked and didn't take away from the dance at all. I loved it.
Joey and Kym- Foxtrot (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- I really can't say much about these dances this week. He improved a ton and it was perfect. And they balanced what Joey is so good at with what Len wants out of a dance. Again, I loved it.
Latin Round
Apolo and Julianne- Cha-cha (Judges' Score=29, My Score=10)- Idk what Len was talking about. You get a song like Push It, you gotta make it a little raunchy. And it wasn't over the top. Apolo is so sharp and precise. Some of his lines, were amazing. The dance, again, was perfect.
Ian and Cheryl- Jive (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- This was Ian's best dance of the season by far. He was light on his feet. He let loose and had a blast. Everything looked good. There were no mistakes. I enjoyed it and I am so glad he got to have one perfect scoring dance before he was eliminated.
Laila and Maks- Cha-cha (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- I think this has been Laila's best dance to date. Her technique was so so so so good. As the judges said, it was the actual standout of this performance. Again, another perfect dance.
Joey and Kym- Jive (Judges' Score=30, My Score=10)- Alright. So I think this could've gone so wrong because they chose to redo a dance that they already got a perfect score on. But I am so glad that Kym made it different enough that it could stand on its own while also drawing some inspiration from that dance. I enjoyed it (and yes, I am conveniently looking over the mistake as I've ignored the small mistakes in everyone's dances this round).
My Rankings and Scores Out of 60:
1 Apolo and Julianne- 60 (30 for both) = Laila and Maks- 60 (30 for both) = Joey and Kym- 60 (30 for both) 4 Ian and Cheryl- 58 (28 for tango, 30 for jive)
The bottom 2 was Apolo and Ian with Ian and Cheryl being eliminated. It could've been anyone this week, but I want to touch on something really quick. Up to this point, Laila has been the only celeb to never appear in the bottom 2. I'll talk more about this next week, but what that says to me is that she and Maks were on track to win the season. I do wonder what would've happened if the they did win. But more on that later. Anyway, next week is the finale. Let me know you all's thoughts and I will be back next week to wrap up season 4.

90s romeo and juliet supremacy forever
okay, you didn’t ask for this at all but i’m just extra and going to give it to you anyway.
one thing i will never understand is people disliking that movie — especially bc the only ‘consistent’ (eg over the years the handful of people i’ve met that say they don’t like it) surface level criticism i ever see of it is the fact that it’s the original elizabethan text set in modern day and that ‘doesn’t’ make sense.
how?! how does it not make sense 😭not to sound like i’m up some 500 year old man’s ass (except that i completely am) but shakespeare’s original language enhances the storytelling bc the words and praises he uses open the door to so many more ways of expressing feelings and emotions. romeo and juliet has some of the most beautiful dialogue and by placing it in modern day, it’s made so much more accessible because the context is so much clearer and relatable. (did anyone else watch the 60s adaptation with the zac efron look alike in school? love it, but why would you go w that one for teenagers to try and connect to the work)
baz luhrmann’s adaptation is camp, unique and all over the place in the best way. maybe i’m biased because i’ve always loved baz’s slightly off kilter signature style, but he took a story we’ve heard hundreds and times injected it with a new lease of life. shakespeare’s work is and will always be timeless – his words will exist long after we are gone, but how often does an adaptation of a play get referenced and drawn from consistently in media? for example, jules’ halloween costume on euphoria or hell, the entirety of skam season 3. the fish tank scene alone is iconic enough to garner it’s own references! shakespeare was a punk of his day and i truly believe that it’s exactly what he would’ve wanted for his work – especially 500 years later.
Tumblr media
plus, we get great performances from harold perrineau as mercutio – his queen mab speech is legendary, claire danes – who was only 17 and kills it and john leguizamo as tybalt – who is one of my favourite actors ever. to top it all off we get 2 hours of 90s leonardo dicaprio delivering poetry in a hawaiian shirt and wielding a gun – like, what more could you ask for in life? is it his career defining performance? no, but it’s still a bloody good one and i’ll argue with anyone over how he alone is worth the film’s icon status.
Tumblr media
this isn’t even mentioning baz’s music choices and how they too have earned their own reputation. kissing you by diseree? young hearts run free by kym mazelle? quindon tarver’s rendition of prince’s when doves cry? and my personal favourite talk show host by radiohead that kicked off my love for the band at 13. one of my favourite aspect’s of baz’s personal style is making music and the soundtrack as significant to the story as the characters are – and he does it so explicitly well in this film.
this is barely even scratching the surface of why I think this film deserves all the love it gets and how it is possibly the single most influential shakespeare adaptation... pretty much ever. i’m also a big believer that romeo and juliet (it’s one of my favourite plays and juliet is one of my favourite characters) gets misunderstood because of it’s reputation and that this is the perfect way to make his work accessible and fresh. anyways, if you unlocked a pandora’s box and if i don’t stop now, i probably won’t ever. in short: 90s romeo and juliet supremacy forever.

There’s one thing that I really like talking about. it’s Matrix world building and research! And for today’s slightly disjointed ramble is on the costume design/fashion of the Matrix. More specifically, focused on the costume design for the Zion portions on the films!
There’s not a lot of reference images out there for any of the costumes from the Real World/Zion portions of the Matrix films (not including the standard hovership uniforms), so a lot of this is my own best guessing, and a few cropped images/images I grabbed from the films and documentaries.
First up, concept art!
Tumblr media
So this kind of design seems to be common for the Zion residents, that kind of wrap around style can be seen in a couple of places, most notably on the APU operators, and on Niobe’s gathering dress (y’know, that sweet red one during the Zion rave scene?).  Also seen further down on Zee’s dress as well!
Tumblr media
More concept art that I grabbed from one of the documentaries on the Matrix reloaded dvd, you can definitely see the more African styling here, the robes are nice and loose (which considering Zion is an underground city, and is supposed to be warm and humid, makes a lot of sense). (also, for anyone curious, the above bit of concept art is capped from this documentary here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vm5JNyRovyE , I’ll do more caps in the morning!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Couple of screenshots of Cas from reloaded, she has this sheer poncho on over a loose, possibly knit fabric dress. Notice the metal bracelets she’s wearing in the first pic as well? Metal jewellery all around!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now moving on Zee, another wrap around dress, the dress has this really nice texture to it, with quite a long hem at the bottom to weigh it down a bit.
Another note to make is that Kym Barrett, the series costume designer, has stated that most of Zion’s outfits are made from hemp material, as it’s easy to grow in the hot, humid underground atmosphere of Zion. I think they’ve woven it into a few different types of fabric, as there’s various thicknesses and weave styles seen throughout. Unless they scavenged a whole lot of different fabric from the surface? Maybe, who knows?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to deconstruct some of the councillor’s outfits as well, as they seem to be a heck of a lot fancier than the standard outfits as well. The linen on Councillor West’s shirt was pretty easy to spot, not sure what’s going on with Dillard’s sleeves though? Both my mum and I looked at it and we weren’t entirely sure what it could be, not with that ribbing to it. Not sure what DIllard’s beads are made out of either, could be something scavenged from the surface, could be glass, could be painted metal, who knows?
The brocade seems to be relegated to the more...I’m loathe to say the higher ups but unless I’ve missed it elsewhere, it only seems to show up in a few places.
Tumblr media
And to finish off, since this is probably as good an image I’ll be able to find of this dress, Niobe’s gathering outfit. More brocade, very rich colours, pretty sure it’s a wrap around dress like Zee’s normal dress, but who knows?
Anyway, I’ll do a small follow up to this at some point. Also if you guys have any thoughts, let me know, I’m always happy to talk Matrix stuff :D

While research can help us understand our generation’s new morality and its changed consumption habits, the impact that the Covid-19 crisis will have on how our future looks and feels remains the most unclear. While times of crisis are when clothes seem to matter least, the irony is that fashion has been making itself at home with the idea of apocalypse as an aesthetic for quite some time.
“Survivalism” isn’t a word one normally lumps in with others like “glamour” and “style,” but according to the strategist and writer Lucas Mascatello, the idea of braving a dangerous future is one that has been a central pillar to many trends for quite some time (and will continue to be). Here, he explores the myriad ideas of the apocalyptic aesthetic — from dystopian to utopian — in our past, present, and future.
What Is Survivalism?
“Survivalism is a mentality. More than the daily practice of preparing for some unknown disaster, war, famine, or disease, it’s a complete worldview unto itself. Survivalism is a kind of reasoning that invites paranoia in, hammering your senses for warning signs and cranking your adrenaline into hyper-vigilance. In nature, we see the armored hides of armadillos and the scales of fish as practical choices made by mother nature, tactical choices that create an aesthetic. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs introduced the concept of tiered values, saying that at their most base, people first satisfy physiological needs like food, water, and sleep. These needs are followed by safety needs (security and shelter), then belonging and love, followed by self esteem and, finally, self-actualization. As a luxury market, fashion largely considers this top tier need: How can I achieve my full potential and what does that look like? It’s a far cry from where we started, concerned with security and defense ideas that inform military design and created armored organisms like turtles, serpents, and dinosaurs.”
Thirst for Annihilation
“Thinking about the end of the world is a romantic idea. And similarly, believing that you are living in the end of times is a great way to add meaning to one’s life. Fashion trends such as chest-packs, camouflage, and tactical gear all gesture toward survivalism as an aesthetic, one that feels like a rebelling against the classic luxury object (even if it’s just as expensive). There’s a long menu of world ending possibilities, each inspiring designers, authors and artists to consider what it might look like if the ice caps melted, if an asteroid hit, if locusts wiped out the crops and we were forced to live off of dehydrated proteins. The thirst for annihilation has helped propagate an array of disaster-based looks.”
Cyberpunk and Tech Gibberish
“Dystopia has its own aesthetic, one reaching deep into fetish and counterculture, mashing sex against sexlessness, turning nerds into heroes, and flipping the paradigm. The incel-meets-BDSM style of The Matrix was the brainchild of costumer designer Kym Barrett. And now, violent models dressed in spandex at a Burning Man-style orgy is how we imagine dealing with a hostile future. In Hackers, costume designer Roger Burton created the most everlasting pop-cultural reality for cyberpunk, featuring club kids rollerblading through New York City. This idea of a post-apocalyptic youth culture would later be echoed in the work of Alexander McQueen, in particular his FW99 collection for Givenchy, a collection created for the eve of Y2K that explores the possibility of a post-human type of glamour. Even in the face of disaster, there’s optimism.”
Disaster Chic
“Trend forecasting is about predicting the future, or at least making a bet on outcomes. Yet style is almost always about being ahead of the curve. At a citizen level, many of us want to be first: stockpiling, prepping, or wearing a mask before everyone is else wearing one are different ways of signaling a truth to come that most are too stupid to recognize. Crises are always a surprise, and yet they always feel inevitable in a way that hangs over even the quiet times. And it’s not always as straightforward as Diesel’s famous 2007 ads Diesel-ifying global warming. Brands like Acronym, Maharishi, and Stone Island have made their bread and butter by sexing up survivalism as a type of high tech roleplay. The apocalypse is stylish because it communicates pessimism, irony, and indifference — like being a smoker or drinking hard because we’re all going to die anyway. Rather than the classic outsider stance of ‘Fuck the World,’ it’s infinitely cooler to say, ‘The World is Fucked.'”
The Dirty Future
“If you zoom ahead 20 years, it is very unlikely that we will all be Errolson Hugh-style cyber ninjas. For while the future is generally tied to the idea of progress — the notion that things develop over time in some cumulative type of way — the unfortunate thing is that beings tend to decay. Colossal world events create the kind of disruption that upends progress, causing fissures and deltas in place of what was once stable. Films such as Mad Max show a world filled with skin rash, poverty, and violence. Kanye West’s first Yeezy Season collections (despite their flaws) were an example of embracing this kind of back to roots, spartan future. Martin Margiela’s first runway show on a playground in Paris’ 20th arrondissement was arguably the first to propose this dirty future in the context of fashion, an idea that began as something romantic and would later spin out into heroin chic. The idea of fashion role-playing destitution is so seminal that it plays a central role in the most famous fashion parody of all time, Zoolander, whose creative director villain Mugatu is planning a homelessness-inspired runway show called ‘Derelicte.'”
Hypothetical Optimism
“Having spent considerable resources imagining the apocalyptic future in its various manifestations, generations of designers and thinkers have proposed speculative solutions that point toward an apocalyptic brand of optimism. Geniuses like Issey Miyake explored survivalism as a pure function through conceptual brands like Final Home and APOC — both dedicated to innovating adaptive solutions for the barren earth to come. Founded in 1992, by Lica and Masahiro Nakagawa, the label 20471120 epitomized Harajuku maximalism while showcasing a future aesthetic based in recycling old products, fighting industry waste, and setting up studios where fans could donate old clothes to be remade as one-of-a kind pieces. Yet even in their most earnest, these future-facing solutions were at best speculative, never made to scale and living firmly within the realm of academia.”
Conclusion: Predictions About Our Real Future
“In the face of our present global disaster, we find ourselves in a situation that feels as though we’ve skipped the bells and whistles of dystopia and gone straight into decline. Few would imagine that New York City would be enduring a shortage of medical supplies and pondering the creation of mass graves — and, for now, the future looks more like looted Wal-Marts and canned tuna than flying cars and floating cities. Today, we’ve become focused solely on what we know works, turning away from novel aesthetics and how things look and returning to our most basic instincts. The real future involves catering to our physiological needs, making masks from old dish towels, draping ourselves in plastic, and wearing latex gloves. These are the aesthetics of coping, one where many of us are considering our own survival for the first time. Rather than replace the expressive and aspirational elements of style, fashion will likely come to play dual roles — both as the expression of our fantasy self and as the reality of who we are today.”

DWTS Premier- day after live blog
Since I didn’t watch last night, I promised to give my “Live blog” as I watched today. If you care to read what I thought, feel free.
Opening number:
Starting with an interview, this is odd. Really, let’s play the Hannah is single from the get go. I love Kel so much! Whoa, that mirrorball opening this was trippy. I love when the pros open the dancing. Oh, Tom and Erin, I’ve missed you! I really hate this lets not say who they are dancing with and make everyone come in by themselves. They should never do that again. This is quite the process to get started. I think I like the set. It’s very shiny.
This judges twist: I’m guessing they get to save a dancer. Que the eye roll.
Hannah: This is the most of the Bachelor/ Bachelorette I’ve ever seen. That was the most unenthusiastic hello ever. Gosh I love Alan so much! She smiles a lot. I don’t like her costume. She was off timing with her arms a few times. Her movements just seem slow and small. The moves she knows, she hits sharply though. Not bad for the first dance. I think they could go on to do well. Let’s not play the showmance and I’ll be good with them staying for a while.
7,7,6
Kel: I freakin love Kel! Always have. Bringing good burger, love it! I love the reaction. I’m also glad she has someone I like again. Sliding down his tongue. I kinda love their costumes. Opps, missed hands twice in a row. So serious faced. Is he chewing gum? That wasn’t great but I still enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to more from them. Stay around long Witney and Kel! He is really listening to the judges. I like that. And man, those gems on Witney’s lips have to be uncomfortable.
6,5,5
HEY BOBBY! Love that man’s smile!
Kate: I never watched the office…. Pasha, a new cutie. Nice dimples on him. That was the shortest segment. Weird opening to the dance. She almost forgot to take off her costume. She struggled at the beginning. She seems to be almost slipping around on the floor. She’s did well in some spot, struggled through others. I think she’ll do well as the weeks go on. I love that the judges complimented Pasha too. One thing about costumes, why is she in blue and he’s in red? They just don’t really go…
5,5,5
I just love how everyone keeps mentioning that it’s been a year. Maybe they’ll learn and not do that again.
Lamar: I heard this one was bad… Don’t know him. Nice slow clap Peta. She shoots, she scores! He makes her look so tiny and she’s really not that tiny. Oh boy. I like his costume. Oh, so slow! He arms aren’t bad. Those kicks lol. He’s leg don’t need to be flexible for basketball. I mean, it really wasn’t great but knowing what the scores were, I didn’t think it was that bad. Poor guy looks horrified. Carrie Ann, good for you for being kind and really complimenting him. He did the best with what he could.
5,3,3 (Way too harsh!)
Bobby Bones! (If only I could write it like it say it) I’ve missed him on my TV.
Lauren: She’s so sweet and I love her already. I don’t even like country music. But like, why Gleb! Anyone but Gleb! He’s my least favorite male pro. Maybe she’ll take him though. Wow, go girl! She hung right in there with the ladies. She’s acting the part and doing the steps so well too! Weird song for her but it works. That was so short! She did great though! I can’t wait to see more of her. Very well choreographed Gleb.

I saw Kym and MumI!
Christy/ Sailor: Poor Christy! So sad for her but so happy her daughter could replace her. Such a sweet simple meeting. Ah, her excitement over the song. So cute! Aw, Val! He’s so distraught. So amazing that Sailor took over. She’s so beautiful nit like in a normal looking person type way. They are so sweet to each other.  Oh she looks so gorgeopis! Three days and she dances like this! Wow. She’s going to thrive as the season goes on. She’s really jolding her own. And she looks like she is having the time of her life! I love it! I think I’m the most excited for them so far. I loved that she went to her Mom at the beginning of the dance and then the kiss and cry after. Amazing job. Lol, she looks taller than Val. Could just be the hair.
Wow, the worst break the doctor had ever seen. Poor girl! She should have a sling on to hold it elevated!
6,6,6 (I would have liked a 7 or two. I thought it was better than Hannah)
Karamo: Never watched this show either but I think I want to… just need some time… He just looks like so much fun! I am so glad he got Jenna! They are going to be so fun to watch together, like Jenna and Adam. That was the shortest video again. Kill it you two. Haha, there is the camera mess up. So embarrassing for whoever that was. They are killing this, and they just look so good. He’s having a blast! That was so fun! He did really well too. They could do really well too. Can’t wait to see more of them, without the camera mess up.
6,5,6
And I already want to tell Len to shut up! Remember, they are just learning to dance. How can you expect them to have every piece perfect already! You trained for years so you don’t know how hard this is for them so shut up and stop being so grumpy. Yes, idealistically, the dancers need to be able to do all things but why be so angry week one when the can’t? Ok, end of rant, for now at least. Back to the show.
Ray: He’s handsome and he just looks like a good man. He looks so happy to see Cheryl. It’s so sweet.  I always have mixed feelings when she comes back but I’m glad she did. Um. Nice little solo there. Those facials were creepy. He danced better on his own but he’s hanging in there. Stand up a little more Ray. Ok, yea, that was kind of creepy but that may have been thanks to the song… Not my favorite but not horrible. He seemed to be having so much fun. Good for him.
5,5,5
Mary: She’s beautiful! 75  and a half… I love it! What a personality. She is so sassy and she’s gonna be so fun! I love how he said, “you got some good rhythm” and she just goes “I’m black” lol. Brandon, love you too. We get to see so much of personality in the video. He’s leading her so well and she looks so elegant. She’s moving well. He arms could be a bit sharper bit She did well. They are so fun. Carrie Ann is being so sweet, and Len can’t stand it. Lol, Len saying they are the same age and she asks him if he’s 75 and a half and he’s just speechless!
6,5,6 (I love how excited she is about her scores. You can tell she is loving every part of being here)
Ally: She’s so tiny. There was no doubt she’d get Sasha (eye roll) Love her brutal honesty about not being flexible. Where was the package. Nice solo to start but that was girl group dance moves. She has a lot of energy, but Sasha brings that out in all of his partners. I’m not even sure what this dance is supposed to be. Oh, she missed timing and spacing towards the end there. Sasha’s fighting Len already. Len, I actually agree with you for once tonight. More like a Beyoncé dance, not ballroom. No real connect to them at all for me. Sasha has a pink snakeskin jacket, lol
5,5,6
Oh, I just saw Andrew East, but I didn’t see Shawn. I knew they were both there thanks to Instagram.
Sean: I have no feeling about him other than I wish he would have got someone else besides Lindsay because I just love her so much and I don’t want her to go out early like I expect him to. Not sure who I would want him to have otherwise. Maybe Cheryl (sorry Cheryl). Having trump say to vote for you probably isn’t going to help him… pre preschool level dancer lol, oh Linds. That shirt is just awful! He really is bad! He put effort in. This is kind of scary! I still love you anyway Lindsay. At least he seems like he had fun. Bruno couldn’t even talk about the dance. He was stuck on the bongo playing. I really don’t need him to go on past next week. Best comment from Carrie Ann “You were off beat most of the dance” love it!
4,4,4 (how did that get 4s and Lamar got two 3s?)
I love that no one has to go up those awful steps after their dance for interviews. So much better. And maybe we’ll get cool videos from the pros and stars from there.
James: Yes for brunette Emma! I hope she keeps her hair brunette. It breaks up all the blonde. I have no clue who he is either but he’s handsome. Oh my gosh, his kids are so adorable! All those blonde curls. Emma’s reaction is priceless. They are going to be a fun partnership too. Um, best solo part of the night. She looks gorgeous! Strong frame James. Sharna said that he reminds her of her James, and I agree. She just looks almost like a natural. Wow! That was just awesome. He’s definitely a front runner.
7,7,7
Overall, it was a good premiere. I still miss Sharna and Artem. I miss seeing their beautiful faces. I’m happy the good band is back. One of the band members has Sharna’s hair…I like the new ballroom layout. They are going to be a fun cast. I think Sean might go home at the end of next week but maybe Lamar. I’m ok with either.
I missed live blogging with you all last night, but I will be back to it next Monday, Lord willing. In the meantime, here to actually getting pictures and videos throughout the week.

OKAY, SO for anyone who’s a matrix fan like I am, there is something that wasn’t addressed (or I feel wasn’t addressed as well as it could have) in the films, maybe you haven’t paid much thought, maybe you have ideas, but I’m about to ramble on about the one thing that sometimes sends me pacing up and down my hallway while I think about this:
WORLD BUILDING
*jazz hands*
Alrighty, so this is mainly in regards to Zion, as that personally is far more interesting than the Matrix proper. Putting the rest under a readmore because I have a lot of thoughts!
So, what do we know? It’s a large underground city that’s made up of caverns, it’s the last human city (although given that this is a just one small section of the globe, it may not be), it’s close to the planets core to give it warmth, protection and geo thermal power (pretty sure Thaddeus says in the Animatrix that it’s about 4 km within the earth’s crust? Hate to think what would happen if there was an earthquake) and home to roughly 250 000 people. It’s also made up of a Dock (which is the main entry point into Zion via the main gates, except if you’re a machine and decide to crash through the ceiling), the living levels (including the temple cave), and the mechanical level which pretty much houses all of the important machinery that keeps the place running.
Okay, so being underground, they have no access to sunlight, so they’d be limited to what they’d be able to grow, in terms of food and fabric and medicines and stuff like that. Mushrooms are a thing, as the apparently hot and steamy (according to Kym Barret) environment is good for mushroom growing. For a lot of stuff, they’d have to go scavenge seeds from the surface, from any agriculture stores they could find, and only then they’d be limited to what will grow hydroponically. According to the internet, that would include: strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, mint, basil, lettuce, cabbage, green beans, peppers, eggplant, and a few other things like melons but they need a lot of room apparently. Oddly enough, strawberries are the only fruit I’ve seen on the hydroponic lists so far, as they do really well apparently. The other berries need more room by the looks of things. Bread is a thing in Zion as well, but it’s really special if the comics are anything to go by, given that it was common once but after the crew on the surface who were growing the wheat (that whole comic is pretty impressive in itself, also features a young Morpheus, who was as bald as a kid as he is now) were killed by the machines, their wheat stores were limited, so it’s a once a year thing.
Also, no sunlight and living underground = no animals (although the crew in Matriculated had a monkey in the real world? Makes no sense, if they have monkeys, why not other stuff? Like bees and goats and useful animals? Room and resources is the answer here probably.) So no animal products here. No meat, no eggs, no milk, no cheese, you get the idea. So everyone is a vegan, and needs a ton of vitamin supplements to supplement their diet (hence the goop).
According to an interview with Kym Barret (the costume designer for the matrix), the clothing is made out of hemp, and they make it themselves, but there’s clearly some shot cotton and patterned stuff (best seen on Councillor Hamann’s robe), so whether they grow that or they’ve scavenged that is up for debate. The clothing is generally loose and flowing, there’s a fair amount of dyed fabric (I’ve seen red, blue, yellow, orange and purple so far...), and some sheer fabric too. Also veils. Also worth noting is that a fair amount of clothing is based on African styles (at least in the concept art I’ve seen), and that’s not really surprising given that the population isn’t as Anglo/European as modern day society. Kinda refreshing, actually.
Living quarters wise, the apartments are carved out from the rock, with a lot of metal reinforcement. Actually looks like some of the apartments have metal walls and floors, so not sure what the deal is there. Furniture is metal, but there’s some stuff that looks to be scavenged, like the beach chair things Niobe has in her apartment. Beds are either just a shelf carved from the rock with maybe a thin mattress and blankets (like Neo and Trinity have in their apartment, and that cannot be comfy good god), or actual beds with a proper mattress and pillows (Like Link and Zee have, they have end tables too with racks for their stuff too! Living the dream guys!). Looks like Link’s apartment also has a little shelf hydroponics thing in the living room with some lamps over it, so they might grow their own little things too food-wise.
And now that I think about it, Sparks’ comment about ‘cremation or the gardens’ takes on a whole new meaning when you start to wonder what they use as fertilizer/soil substitute for the hydroponics...
Okay, that’s enough for now! Feel free to add on to this is anyone has any more ideas, I’d love to hear them!

Fun little fact about breaking points/ key moments that are either the end of Bucks relationships or the moment something happens that sets their demise in motion - Buck wears dark green
Abby leaves - dark green plaid shirt
Tumblr media
Buck moves into Maddies after he has accepted his break up with Abby (technically this is a bit later as he has moved into Chims and this is him being kicked out of Chims, but it all plays into the same concept!) and the uses of plaid here is also a bit of a nod to that airport costume in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Ali breaks up with him
Tumblr media
Buck tells taylor he kissed Lucy
Tumblr media
Buck ends things with Taylor
Tumblr media
I've included this because it felt like a break up of an aspect of Buck and Eddies relationship at this moment - as well as the moment when Buck was being delusional about Natalia and her seeing him. its also the scene where we get the line about not dating people you meet on the job - which feels like foreshadowing for the Buck and Natalia relationship
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now we have this still - I thought it was a green toned black shirt - and it might very well still be, I won't know for sure until we see the scene play out, -but now I'm looking at it on my proper computer screen and not my phone screen at 4am, its looking much more dark green to me and therefore potentially fits into the Buck relationship costume colour way - black with a dark green top layer.
So if this does in fact turn out to be dark green - it either means one of three things - this is connected to a Buck/Natalia break up in some way, or we're going to see some drama and divorce era 2.0 for Buck and Eddies relationship, or this is a scene where we see Buck and Eddie grow closer together.
I tend more towards it being a Buck/Natalia break up related scene which actually doesn't preclude it from also pushing Buck and Eddie closer together! The reason I say that the dark green could be a sign of them growing closer is becuase aside from all the outfits above, there are only two other instances of Buck wearing a dark green - the olive green jumper he wears in 3x11 - the This is Eddies house I'm not really a guest scene,
Tumblr media
and then the following episode when they take Chris skateboarding.
Tumblr media
both scenes that establish Bucks place in the Diaz boy's life and as part of hte Buckley Diaz family!!

Watched the third season of Scream (Scream Resurrection ? Scream VH1 ?) for the first time w mom these past two days, and I liked it a lot actually ! I’m aware it’s not well liked apparently. Maybe because they dropped the Seasons 1&2 cast (Brooke and Noah are the only characters I truly mourn in the Great Recasting of Scream TV, the rest of the living characters by the end of S02 do nothing for me), maybe it just wasn’t a lot of people’s style. Either way, I personally enjoyed it, and especially loved the nearly all-bipoc cast !!
I had a fewwww flaws with it, of course, but I’ll leave it under a cut so anyone who wants to read it can, and those who don’t won’t just see a wall of text rip
Also Spoiler Warning, duh
OKAY SO
One of the biggest flaws I had was for sure Olivia/Liv. She definitely seemed okay and likeable in Episodes 1 and 2, but my GOD did she just get worse as time went on.
Like, okay, so we know she’s got some (mental health ??) issues due to her mom’s cheating and eventual divorce from her father, but I kinda hate how it’s never... delved into ??? Like girl held a whole ass lighter to her arm at the end of one episode but it’s never actually ADDRESSED what her deal is ????? What are your secrets, Liv ????
Like, alright. Her snoopy ass self gets the hopes up of Deion (fka Marcus), that his twin brother (the REAL Deion) is alive and kicking, only for it to be revealed the poor kid got stuck in the trunk of an old car and died after all. Like, damn, Nancy Drew, look at what you’ve done. You gave the dude depression.
Liv: Your brother’s alive Deion: he’s literally not Liv: okay but he is Deion: hm...
ANYWAYS, moving on.
I really don’t like just how she treated Deion all season. So, hear me out. We have the scene between them post-sex. She’s holding the gun she found in his bag (ma’am I literally do not care that you stubbed your toe, that doesn’t give you permission to snoop through his shit ????), and THEN yells for her cop father bc she’s trying to “protect” Deion ??? Nah fuck off with that.
Was definitely relieved to see her father WASN’T a racist cop just waiting for a chance to have an excuse to execute a black person, surprised to see him reveal he’s worried for Deion’s safety BECAUSE of Liv’s aforementioned issues (sir get your daughter a therapist) but once again WHAT ARE HER ISSUES SPECIFICALLY ???? LIV ???????
She then kinda does it AGAIN by mentioning to a different cop that Deion knew about her father. Like GIRL you KNOW what you’re doing YOU HAVE TO. These actions nearly cost Deion a football scholarship, and never ONCE is she PROPERLY punished for her actions.
We do get Deion telling her on the phone that everything she’d done so far was actually really shitty and fucked up, and he even goes so far as to tell her not to speak to him anymore, but about an episode later that’s all resolved like nothing. Like Deion, dude, I get she’s pretty but the things she did should not be so quickly forgiven just because she said sorry ???? Deion stop kissing her TELL HER TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THE CLEARLY TRAUMATIC EVENT OF HER PARENTS DIVORCING.
AND THEN SHE’S PITIED in those TWO seconds Deion hates her ?? Deion “pumping and dumping” is viewed as a “gross guy hurts poor, innocent girl’s heart” when reality is that he had EVERY SINGLE RIGHT to want nothing to do with Liv after everything she had put him through. A person is not obligated to stay in contact w/ someone they had sex with if that person finds out their sexual and/or romantic partner is an ASSHOLE. Don’t pity Liv when it’s HER shitty actions that led to Deion not wanting to speak to her for two seconds !
Legit hate that she and Deion ended up together in the end. He deserved better, or at the VERY LEAST she should have waited until she was in a better place to even PURSUE a relationship with anyone, Deion or not. And, hey, maybe she did considering the last scene is a time jump, but that’s just an assumption.
Also, was it ever explained just who she was talking to about having blood on their hands ??? Like I get it was to make her look sus because it WORKED. Maybe she wasn’t the killer this season, but it’s well established she is Not Okay and also well established that she’s just an overall unpleasant person, so who is to say she wasn’t doing shady shit anyways ?? Once again, Liv, what are your secrets ????????????
Anyways, non-Liv related flaws I found that apply to me personally.
Tyg/a’s whole existence. So let’s talk abt Jay. Not entirely jazzed about his reveal. Kinda thought it was meh overall (sidenote: shouldn’t he have sounded more struggled in his last scene ? Dude was bleeding out and was talking like he was having a normal conversation my dudes)
Like, his motive is kinda interesting, but idk. Of course there were two killers, but I was hoping “Hook Man’s” death wasn’t actually related to the Ghostface killings. I knew for sure it was Jay, because it made sense. Get revenge on the man you think killed your little brother while wearing the costume your brother died in. I just feel like, compared to Beth... meh.
Enough about him, though, really hated seeing Manny die. Like, damn dude. I was legit hoping that him cracking the windshield was a sign that he was gonna escape, then BOOM next episode BOOM his funeral like DAMN OKAY.
When Kym was on the roof, I thought the Mystery Person was gonna be revealed to be Manny (forgot they had been selecting his clothes to be buried in tbh), who faked his death so he could finally be free of the town he wanted nothing to do with. Will say, though, the reveal of Hawkins being Manny’s secret dumb jock boyfriend was wholesome. Wish we could have seen more of them together and Hawkins could have been a more relevant character throughout the season, we deserved all the gay content we could have gotten.
That’s all the flaws I think I have, though. My brain’s fried and I’m TIRED so... yuh.
Oh but, a few positives real quick: Liv being the false final girl and KYM being the TRUE final girl (sidenote: another flaw - Kym should have gotten a showdown with Beth tbh). Kym was far more deserving of that title, and I’m glad she got the honor of putting the Big Bad down. Also loved her and Hawkins clearly becoming friends after high school (also just Keke in general, what an icon)
And, the Deadfast Club was an overall likeable group (Liv ASIDE personally). It hurt to see them die. Noah rlly said it in season 1, make my ass CARE about these people smh
Once again there’s probs more but I am falling asleep so that is all goodnight.

365 Day Movie Challenge (2019) - #53: Us (2019) - dir. Jordan Peele
Fittingly, I’m split as to how to process Us. It is a truly entertaining horror-thriller with excellent performances by Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke as the wife and husband who fight to protect themselves and their children from an army of doppelgängers that has risen up from beneath the Earth’s surface to invade the beach town of Santa Cruz, California; Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker also provide memorable support as the protagonists’ white yuppie pals. Even so, there are so many narrative inconsistencies (which I won’t spoil here) that I almost wish there could be a prequel so that Jordan Peele could go further into detail on how “Red” and her ilk were created. Such a story would presuppose that viewers already know the big twist in Us, but I think that would make things pretty interesting.
There is more than enough visual flair from cinematographer Mike Gioulakis (It Follows, Glass), editor Nicholas Monsour (Keanu, Action Point) and costume designer Kym Barrett (William Shakepeare’s Romeo + Juliet, The Matrix) to keep the action exciting, and the inclusion of songs by Janelle Monáe, the Beach Boys and Minnie Riperton is gratifying too, but Us generates far too many unanswered questions for it to be a complete success. With Get Out, Jordan Peele established himself as a new master of genre filmmaking with a social conscience, so I have confidence that his next feature will be a return to form.

Aaron Carter Headlines The Forvm On September Thirteen
Mya and Dmitry Chaplin/Quickstep/Samba - Len called the dance a disappointment because he couldn't find anything to criticize. Bruno found it like champagne, mild and sparkly. Carrie Ann praised the synchronicity. Mya's Samba was set in the 70's and outfitted with fringe. Carrie Ann called it unbelieveable. Len stated she was on hearth and Bruno stated she did an amazing Samba. Rating 29 & 30 for a complete of fifty nine. Tom Bergeron rehashed final night's motion and current judges' standings. And then. the men's component of tonight's DWTS 7 days 1 period nine elimination began: Louie Vito and companion Chelsie Hightower and have a peek here and companion Karina Smirnoff were proclaimed secure to dance again. I'm not really shocked; they're each adorable young thangs, after all.
youtube
Karina Smirnoff is usually a enjoyment to watch on the dance floor. There is no denying that she is 1 of the very best professionals in the bunch. However, placing up with the daggers she throws the judges and the viewers when issues don't go her way is just as well much to inquire.
Aaron Carter Wiki
It began, curiously sufficient, when entertainer Donny Osmond's son Don Jr. "tweeted" congratulations to his Dad, noting that "You and Kym [Johnson] are going to win this season. You've got my vote every week! Love ya!" Oops.
Tumblr media
Natalie Coughlin and Alec Mazo - How about that costume Natalie was rocking? I'm lovin it! But that include version of "American Lady" she and Alec danced to was absolutely heinous. I believed Natalie and Alec's Paso Doble was superb, but the judges obviously didn't concur. Score: 22. Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough/Quicksteps/Paso Doble - With a standing ovation, loaded with content, Carrie Ann disliked Joanna's ft. Lacking body get in touch with and containing too much running about still left Len non-plussed. Bruno said it wasn't 1 of their best dances. Joanna's Paso Doble was engineered in the long term. Bruno known as it a masterful reinvention of a classic. Carrie Ann called it excellent and completely executed. Len stated Derek was a genius bit of choreography. Rating 23 & 29 for a complete of fifty two.
Aaron Carter Oh Aaron
Tomorrow night's outcomes show will get rid of one more couple before Dancing with the Stars enters the playoffs. The highlighted visitor performer will be Susan Boyle and Michael Buble. Jerry Rice, Kenny Mayne and Stacy Kiebler will appear in the seasonal Dance Center vignette to add some humor to the evening. Eleven celebs remain in the Dancing With the Stars competition, so who will go home throughout 7 days 4? Is there any celeb right on the edge, and who is rising to aaron carter and nick carter the leading after 3 weeks of dances? But what Keara brings to the table is not another fairly face with a good voice - it is, instead, a distinctive combination of musical abilities that are adept far past her many years, matched with a serene, but youthful, vitality that keeps her relatable to audiences of all ages. With an R&B acoustic audio relatively reminiscent of a young female counterpart to Bruno Mars, Keara (or 'guitarprincesskeara' as she's known to her 3000+ subscribers on YouTube) is ready to bring a fresh edge to teen pop songs. I sat down with Keara just a couple of evenings in the past prior to an exceptional overall performance supporting Check This Out at the Live performance For Our Long term in Manville, New Jersey, exactly where she opened up about her dreams and objectives for her promising long term in songs.
youtube
Popstar Aaron Carter
Next we listened to from the Dancing with the Stars season 9 professionals about the challenges of breaking the celebs' poor routines. Meh heh. That should be fun. We learned from Lacey Schwimmer that Mark Dacascos talks to himself much too often, and Alec Mazo complained that Natalie Coughlin retains her breath too frequently. What a surprising factor for a swimmer to do! Co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha opened the hour of the initial Dancing with the Stars fall 2009 outcomes show by turning to head judge Len Goodman and requesting the judges' pick for the encore dance. Final evening's shock sleek swan of the ballroom Kelly Osbourne and Louie van Amstel delighted the crowd with their Viennese Waltz once once more. I'm nonetheless so impressed with Kelly. I had, pretty literally, nearly no anticipations for Kelly Osbourne on DWTS period nine. I thought she'd suck and I felt badly for poor Louie. But she's amazing and was incredible however once more tonight.

Aaron Carter Tattoos
DeLay experienced to toss a joke about politics in there, saying that it is "simply outrageous for him to go left." His "Wild Thing" dance was described as "surreal," and his dancing was really better than I thought it would be. He was goofy, and that was likely a fantastic idea to get the voting public to believe of him as a polarizing determine. At least, this season, viewers lastly got a chance to see Kym Johnson in full action. She has moves that she's never experienced the chance to display off in recent cycles. And Joanna Krupa (who)? Let's just say the reason she is still in the leading 5 is simply because of Derek Hough. Anyone who is lucky enough to get him as a companion is going to adhere around for awhile. He is, by much, the best dancer on the display (as well as Mark Ballas). Derek has some of the very best choreography and should truly be a great instructor because he goes a lengthy way on each display.
