Meanwhile, Drive Away Dolls is Junko and Kyoko go on a road trip, only Junko has a southern accent instead of a valley girl one.
Junko: We have to stop here for all the dykes, and then we have to go here for all the BBQ, I know you won't like it, but it is the BEST—
Kyoko: It's a straight shot.
Junko: And we could stop here to see the world's largest Dixie Cup!
Kyoko: It's. A. Straight. Shot. And the guy said it's a rush job. We need to get the car there tomorrow.
Junko: But if we take an extra day, we can go farther and see girls in bikinis and high heels!!!!
----
Kyoko: You shouldn't have sprayed anything on the back of the car.
Junko: It's art!!
Kyoko: And when we hand the car off, it stops being art and starts being vandalism.
Junko: It comes off with soap and water, sour puss.
Kyoko: No, it doesn't.
Junko: ...what doesn't
Kyoko: The graffiti. I tried.
Junko: It's part of my larger project!
Kyoko: ...what larger project

I've been thinking about KHR's bonds. (When am I not?) And I've thought about the way that Amano likes to write bonds. You'd be pressed in this fandom to find people who don't care about at least one area of it whether that's the Vongola kids, Varia, the Arcobaleno, Kokuyo, etc. After a conversation with my best friend, I realized it's kinda interesting how Amano has somehow successfully created so many realistic bonds for such a diverse cast. Like we see so little of them, but you'd be pressed to convince the KHR fans that the funeral wreaths don't adore Byakuran.
So there's the thing right? Katekyo hitman reborn is the shonen that is 100% about the power of friendship. Like yes other shounens use it and its a meme for a reason, but they also have other stuff going on. Other motivations. Other theming. Meanwhile Tsuna growing up and becoming a better person for his friends /is/ the theme of Reborn. That is the entire motivation for the series. There's no grandiose scheme where Tsuna will save the Mafia world and be the chosen one, though the series tries to put Tsuna in this position to his chagrin.
As evidenced by the scene in Future arc, where Tsuna is unable to light his ring because he is so stressed about sending everyone back to the future and fighting this unknown powerful enemy. And so Reborn walks up and tells him "You're not a hero. Stop trying to be. It's not like you. What were you thinking about when you first lit your flame?" And he responded with "I just..wanted to protect Kyoko." Reborn satisfied with that answer then asks, "And who do you want to protect now?" And Tsuna answers with "Everyone." And then his ring lit up. That's the core to the series!! Right there!! All it ever was 403 chapters worth of these characters just wanting to protect each other.
So, in talking to my best friend, he pointed out that outside of daily life arc, these characters don't really have moments of vulnerability towards each other. Frankly, it seems the cast of KHR is allergic to being vulnerable. There aren't that many scenes of "you guys are important to me. I love you guys." Y'know stuff that tells the audience yeah these guys are close. And when Tsuna TRIES to have these moments, like with Reborn, Reborn pretends like he's asleep and doesn't hear Tsuna say that he's going to save him. Yet somehow, we all understand that these characters love each other so deeply.
And that made me realize it's all in the dialogue and actions, rather than inherent bonding moments. It's Reborn clenching his fist when Tsuna is getting gravely injured by Daemon. It's Yamamoto and Gokudera having a fight about Gokudera not being worthy of being Tsunas right hand man as Gokudera doesn't care for the other members of their family. And Gokudera never addressing this again, there's no verbal indication that Gokudera even heard Yamamotos criticism. Yet later during Merone invasion, Gokudera reaches a hand out to catch Yamamoto when they're getting separated. And later, he protects Ryoheis unconscious body as he is fighting Gamma to the death. It's Byakuran saving the funeral wreaths from their miserable lives and them protecting him even when he begins to strike them down. It's the way Mukuro runs to assist Chrome when she is in danger, or swears up and down that he is not allied with Tsuna but also feeds the Vongola information about Byakuran. It's the way Squalo refuses to cut his hair for his vow to Xanxus, or Mammon's gratitude towards Xanxus's willingness to fight for them. It's Ken ensuring that Chrome is always fed by giving her the snacks and candy they bought. These characters don't need bonding moments, their love for each other shines through their every breath and finger twitch.
And I think that's a fascinating way to write a connection on Amanos behalf. And it was done so well we can't even argue that these characters all love each other.
The way I summarized it is most characters love each other because they spend time together and improve together. KHR characters spend time together and get better together because they love each other
Anyway that's it for this one. Please let me know any dialogue/actions that drive you guys mad about these characters 👀 I know this series is full of them.

Walpurgis Rising Trailer Analysis
So this is basically my magical girl blog so I had to make this. I’ve loved pmmm for so long and I had a mini heart attack when I saw the trailer was out. Spoilers for pmmm, Rebellion, and the Wraith Arc ahead.
Here’s the trailer if you haven’t seen it already: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TGxyrO-27dQ&pp=ygULYW5pcGxleCB1c2E%3D
General Speculation:
So let’s start with everyone’s main speculation. Most people who watch the trailer believe that in this new world Homura created, she’s the one who created magical girls, which I also believe. In the beginning of the trailer Homura says:
“Can you accept the risks and responsibilities?”
Before she says this a phone can be heard ringing which comes from where her soul gem should be. This means that Kyubey is no longer in charge of wish granting and or choosing magical girls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing that I find interesting is that the Clara Dolls (Homura’s familiars) call her “Akuma Sama” or “Devil” if you watched the trailer with the subtitles.
I believe this shows that Homura is taking the role of Kyubey. If magical girls are being chosen by Homura like we speculate, it means that they are literally making a deal with the “devil.”
Even in the Wraith Arc when things were significantly better there was still a cycle of hope and despair with magical girls still having the risk of getting their feelings eaten by wraiths. Homura’s world still needs despair in it, meaning that being meguca is still suffering. In fact, it might be Homura’s way of punishing Mami, Sayaka, and Kyoko.
Homura’s New World:
This versions of Homura’s world seems a lot more stable than Rebellion since it’s no longer a controlled environment. Homura has full control and self awareness of what she’s doing.
One of the shots we get of this new world is a shot of Madoka, Sayaka, and Hitomi presumably walking to school. They are surrounded by flowers with light shining down on them. I believe this is supposed to represent the world that Homura wanted to create for Madoka: A place that’s beautiful and carefree. Even in the trailer Homura says: “This world is for Madoka.”
Tumblr media
Then we got shots of how Homura and the other magical girls might see the world. It looks heavily industrial with the sky being filled with reds and oranges.
This can show that Madoka is most likely in the dark about what’s really going on around her, at least in the beginning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Magical girls (and their outfits)
If Homura is the one granting wishes and choosing magical girls, I believe that the change in outfits has to do with how Homura sees Mami, Sayaka, and Kyoko.
Mami’s new outfit is similar to her old one in a lot of ways but the change is most definitely noticeable. Her outfit looks a lot more free flowing and focused more on the fashionable aspect of magical girl outfits.
Homura has always seen Mami as the mature leader. Along with Madoka, she was the first magical she meant and in the other timelines she’s the one that coaches Homura and teaches her how to use her abilities. It’s even speculated that Homura chose guns as her weapon because of Mami.
Tumblr media
It doesn’t look like Kyoko’s outfit changed that much. Her soul gem does look bigger but that could be intentional or just a design choice.
From I can see, it looks like there’s a black undershirt underneath the top piece of her outfit but that doesn’t give us much for symbolism.
If you look at her gloves it looks like Sayaka with the gold band around the edge. This could show her connection to Sayaka.
What’s most noticeable is her hair that still appears long but seems a lot more spiky. This could represent Homura seeing Kyoko as a tomboy and exaggerating that concept.
The reason why I think Kyoko’s outfit didn’t change much is because worked good together and that Homura sees her in a better light than she does Mami and Sayaka who she believes are constantly getting in her way. Kyoko was the one Homura went to when she needed a teammate: Wanting her to help with  Walpurgisnacht in the original and Homura reaching out to her in Rebellion.
Tumblr media
I saved Sayaka for last because she has a lot going on. The bandages on her face and her cape looking more like a coat looks like it could reflect her wish of healing Kyosuke and all the time he spent in the hospital. It also goes along with her ability of healing.
Sayaka is heavily covered up with the cape, bandages, long sleeve, and gloves. This could be seen as Sayaka disguising herself or hiding who she really is like in Rebellion.
If you have seen the concept movie trailer, Sayaka looks different but one similarity is having something cover her mouth. This could represent secrecy or Homura trying to silence Sayaka.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Homura has always had problems with Sayaka. Such as Sayaka accusing her of different things in different time lines such as working with Kyoko, trying to blow her up with bombs, and lying about magical girls turning into witches. In Rebellion, Sayaka was the one who called Homura out and actually stood a threat to her.
If Homura is making magical girls I feel like it’s possible she could be going out of her way to punish Sayaka which is really tragic. I think it’s obvious that Sayaka is my favorite character.
The New Magical Girl:
In the trailer we are shown what could potentially be a new magical girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This new magical girl is shown to wield Homura’s bow but also have abilities similar to Mami with what looks like red ribbons. Her outfit also looks similar to Homura’s but she has a light hair color in a ponytail.
My personal theory is that this magical girl represents Walpurgisnacht. Walpurgisnacht is an amalgamation of witches which could show why she’s seen using different weapons and abilities of other magical girls.
The trailer describes Walpurgisnacht as a “fool who goes around in circles” which represents both Homura and Madoka. Both of them were affected by karmic destiny as the clock kept turning. This new magical girl could be the aftermath of messing with karmic destiny.
Dang this is long. Maybe I’ll make a second part of this that focuses more on Kyubey, Madoka, and Homura.

Wait, but also, in the AU where Izuru kidnaps memory-erased Makoto, we still eventually get Kyoko finding the files on all the other students. So it's like, "Mukuro Ikusaba, the 16th student, hiding somewhere in the school. Also, there's this guy named Makoto? I don't know, he was the Ultimate Lucky Student. I don't know what that means or entails. He feels significant, too, but I don't know where he comes into play."
Except of course, she probably doesn't confide this in anyone. But there is a point in the game where she knows there's another student in their class but not what the deal is with him.
The way I'm imagining the scenario, Junko was fully caught off guard by Izuru taking Makoto, and she restructured a lot of things to accommodate that. Either she goes through with the killing game right away, which will be the case in this post, or she delays it to track down Makoto. Maybe sends the 77th class after him; that is a cool scenario to pursue.
But for now, the scenario where she just starts the killing game without him. She left Makoto's room with his nameplate and everything, so now there's a question of, "Who's this fifteenth guy clearly represented as one of us who we've never met or seen?" Then they get to the courtroom and there are sixteen podiums, and that's like...Okay, noted.
Junko doesn't kill Mukuro, because in her mind she's going to confront Izuru later because she can't let this one classmate get away unscathed, and if she wants to confront Izuru then she'll need Mukuro.
Mukuro also knows that Izuru has Makoto. She's still pretending to be Junko. She's deeply worried about Makoto the whole time.
This feels so mean, but I am going to say Chihiro survives because the idea of training with Mondo is not suggested. The reason I'm saying this is to make it so we no longer have to worry about how the group will get through the final trial without Makoto to encourage them; they have Alter Ego and they have Chihiro, so their solutions are more in the spy thriller genre than the intended hope/despair stuff. The world isn't given hope, the killing game is pretty much a bust for both sides.
When enough cards are on the table that Kyoko can talk about Makoto openly, Monokuma reacts with extreme irritation, like "Don't even say that name in front of me! I'm still pissed off that he was taken out of play so early! To put a guy like him in a killing game- that would really pull the heartstrings! But I guess you wouldn't know, since you've never met him before. Puhuhuhu~" Very different to how he reacts when Mukuro is brought up.
Maybe at some point someone asks, "Could Makoto Naegi be the masked figure who attacked you?"
And Kyoko just goes, "No. Look at his file again; Makoto Naegi is five foot three."
All of this to say: Eventually some of these kids get out of the school, get their memories back, and find out that someone took Makoto. Maybe Junko even leverages this; maybe she induces them to recover their memories so they suddenly care about Makoto and then makes it a race to see who can find him first.
Izuru's secluded place is well secured against intruders, and his entire focus has been on "guiding" Makoto to love only him. He's not paying enough attention to the broader world to know that there's a hunt on for his luckster. That Enoshima's disciples and what remains of the 78th class are searching for him, the full weights of their talents devoted to the search.
One day the power suddenly cuts off, and Izuru sits up in bed at once. Makoto's just like, "What? It's just a power outage, right?"
And Izuru goes, "We aren't connected to the local power grid; we have a private generator. And it should not have failed." He gets up to leave the room. "Wait here."

saw your yuki/kyo dissection and i was curious to know what's the other ship you think was an obvious possible option?
... after consulting @cafedanslanuit , Imma say it. For the plot. And Imma write my essay explaining my case. But y'all... don't get mad at me for being right. Strap in, this is gonna be a long one lmao.
But before I actually say it, we need to talk about Akito and Tohru and how they parallel one another.
Tumblr media
Because these two are the same character at the opposite ends of the spectrum and 2/3 of the key aspects of Fruits Basket that make the show work. Without them, there's no Fruits Basket.
Both of them are quite literally the same character.
Masculine naming convention? Check.
Abandonment issues? Check.
A favored parent and a parent they have negative feelings towards? Check.
Especially since their respective relationships with their parents led to those abandonment issues and how they interact with the world. Akira was to Akito what Kyoko was Tohru. Ren's unnatural hatred of Akito, viewing her as a threat for Akira's attention, Akira's death and Kureno's curse suddenly breaking for no rhyme or reason led to Akito becoming the person she became.
Katsuya's death caused Kyoko to fall into a depression so deep she neglected Tohru for an indeterminable amount of time. Very nearly left Tohru to herself before coming her senses and becoming the best mom in the world that we the audience know her as. But that period of Tohru's life was very forming for who she became.
Kyoko came back after coming to her senses, we know this. But to Tohru, her mother suddenly embracing her for the first time in likely weeks, was the result of Tohru mimicking her dad's speech. A formal way of speaking that became so engrained into her daily habits, it's completely inseparable from her now.
Akito and Tohru's respective experiences ultimately lead them to the same core aspect of their character: Loneliness.
Both of them are terribly afraid of being alone, they just keep people in their lives in very different way.
Akito relied on fear, Tohru used kindness.
Akito used violence, Tohru used compassion.
Akito's go-to was embracing her father's words that she was a special child born to be loved. As such, she could do anything she wanted to the other members of the zodiac without facing any repercussions.
Tohru's go-to was her belief that her not prioritizing her mother over rest is inherently connected to her mother's death. That she should have prioritized her mother over everything. That her mother had to be her number one even in death. Thus, she became afraid of loving anything or anyone more than her mother. And yet, she still didn't want to lose anyone else in her life.
Tohru's kindness is genuine but there is a benefit she gains from it similarly yet juxtaposed to Akito's abuse.
That's why the two of them are able to come to an understanding with one another by the end of the story. Why Tohru was able to set everything else aside to start from zero because she understands that fear of being alone all too well.
They are both a mirror into what the other person could have been like if their circumstances were different. Tohru could have been that bitter, hate-filled woman, while Akito could have just as easily been the sweetest woman in the world.
Akito is Tohru
and Tohru is Akito.
All this buildup is to say that...
I think the only other obvious choice for Tohru was Shigure.
Tumblr media
Yes, Shigure.
Y'all heard me right.
The final piece to what makes Furuba work, the one who instigated the plot in the first place.
And I'm sorry if y'all get mad at me for saying that, but I really don't think this is an incorrect assessment. I'll die on the hill that it was an obvious what if.
There's superficial things one can have fun mentioning in regards to these two ー
Across all adaptations of Furuba, Shigure is the first Sohma we are introduced to
Shigure's cursed year is the Dog, Tohru's birth year is the Dog
But the biggest thing for me is in how Tohru is an intrinsic part of something Shigure lacks as a person, that being empathy.
To make myself clear, I'm not saying Shigure is completely void of empathy. Because we can see him expressing it to the people he cares for in the story. (Ex. Wanting to go on a vacation during Golden Week so Hatori can avoid his ex's wedding.)
But for Shigure, empathy isn't something that comes easy for him. As he words it, his kindness isn't as good as the real thing someone like Hatori has. Shigure considers his kindness a hastily manufactured afterthought.
He's someone perfectly content using someone if he gets something out of it. And if he sees someone hesitating to reach for something they want, he'd rather just provoke them into action than attempt to warmly encourage them or understand where they're coming from. Because he doesn't see a point in hesitating at all and frankly, he knows comforting people like that doesn't come easy to him. So he normally opts not to.
Tumblr media
As such, he's fascinated by the levels of empathy and kindness Tohru has. Tohru's kindness sometimes even makes him feel guilty and Shigure isn't someone who often feels guilt in the first place.
Contrast to him, Tohru is so pure that Shigure can't help acknowledging how twisted he is. In season 1/the manga's first arc, he even tells Hatori that because of that forced realization he gets every time he looks at her he thinks Tohru is too pure for him.
Tumblr media
Compare to that to our final arc of the manga/season ー where it all eventually escalates to Shigure's quiet contemplationthat maybe he should have dreamed of Tohru.
That it's most likely that Akito wasn't the right one to dream of.
That someone as twisted as him needs someone like Tohru to balance it. To be that beacon that can lead him into being a 'normal' person.
He genuinely thinks about it in that moment as he playfully tells Tohru 「もしもの、お話し」 which is more accurately translated as "It's a what-if story".
Tumblr media
Had Shigure dreamed of Tohru all those years ago, what would have been different?
...
But Tohru isn't who he dreamed of and this is the bed Shigure has decided to make for himself. One he has kept on the path of for years. So he lets himself think about the what ifs for a moment before ultimately deciding to keep lying in the bed he's made in hopes of the day Akito finally comes around.
But it's in Shigure's mind, and now the audience's mind, that more than likely it should have been Tohru. Tohru and what she represents is who he should have dreamed of.
You can see signs that a relationship with Tohru is something Shigure's considered even vaguely in the series even before that point though.
Tumblr media
Sure it's passed as a joke, but when you look back at the scene with the "what if story" goggles, you can't help wondering "was it really though?"
Tumblr media
Hell, Shigure desiring Tohru is something that even Akito feared.
She was enraged at the thought very thought of it during the Summer Vacation arc. It's what set Akito off enough to tell Tohru that she is the God of the zodiacs and they all belong to her, Shigure in particular.
Akito was already even in an agitated state before she asked Shigure if he felt anything even partially romantic towards Tohru. Why? Because she's displeased that Shigure isn't kind to her the way he used to be. That he used to only look at Akito but now he doesn't. She wants him to be kind to her again, like he was before.
And Shigure is exceptionally kind to Tohru.
Tumblr media
Like he is very careful and considerate when he comes to Tohru which he even confesses to Mayu at one point when she tells him that he should treat her carefully. He tells her 「これでも僕にしてはめずらしいくらい大切にしてると思うんだけどね」 which can, more accurately be given a rough translation of "I think it's unusual for me, but I'm taking good care of her" or even "I think it's unusual for me to value someone this much".
And if you look back on the series, that isn't cap.
Excluding characters like Kisa, Hiro and Momiji (who isn't the same age as the other two but acts youthful enough it is easy to forget), Tohru is the only character Shigure doesn't really treat the way he does everyone else.
Shigure has no problem poking and prodding at people, even in moments where they're very clearly in emotional turmoil when he says them.
Asking Yuki what Akito told him during the Summer Vacation arc.
Telling Kyo that he is using hating Yuki as a shield for what he doesn't want to think about.
(... Telling Akito "bitch I wouldn't have cheated on you if you didn't cheat on me first" lmaooo.)
Even if at the end of the day, it is coming from his own way of caring (trying to get people to act and move forward), that doesn't change the fact Shigure can be a complete asshole. One that will say some very hurtful things to people.
And he's done it multiple times to the same people over and over again. Measuring what's the right amount of what to say to avoid or invoke a specific reaction that he does or doesn't want. Sometimes it's played for laughs, other times it is to rile someone up so badly they cannot contain their aggravation.
So it really isn't cap when he tells Mayu he does, in reality, treat Tohru very gently. For all that Shigure is capable of doing, he treats Tohru with more care than he normally gives to people. Especially considering he has no real reason to since she was a stranger to him until recently.
Tumblr media
It takes Shigure until the final arc to do anything of his usual nature to Tohru. And when he does, he asks her if she's mad at him afterwards. It doesn't sound like much until you realize he's never done anything of that sort for any other character in the series.
Yuki. Kyo. Akito.
He'll back off. He might sigh and state it's pointless to continue a debate when he and the other person are going back and forth in circles. But he never asks to see how that other person feels because he doesn't care. Hell, he can tell if that other person is upset with him or done with his shenanigans.
And yet with Tohru, he feels compelled to ask for the first time ever.
Tumblr media
And, of course, I can't talk about all this stuff and not mention Shigure's calm fury when Tohru fell from the cliffside. He stayed quiet for damn near 20 seconds as he processed that Akito told him that Tohru fell and we don't see his face the entire time he's processing. Then once he finally pulls himself together, he couldn't even let Akito finish her sentence when he asked if Tohru's 'fall' was a push.
We never truly get to see in Furuba, something that could set Shigure off.
But I think in that moment we get a glimpse of it. A glimpse that shows just how strongly he feels for Tohru. Because it begs the question, if Akito had pushed Tohru off that cliff, what would Shigure have done? How would he have reacted? I don't think even Shigure knew how he would have reacted.
I'm honestly morbidly curious.
That's all to say, that, "what if" story was with Shigure. Not Momiji, not Yuki. It was Shigure.
'If you didn't end up with A, you definitely would have ended up with B'. If we narrowed this down to Yuki and Tohru specifically, there's only two other characters that come close to that. If it wasn't Machi for Yuki and Kyo for Tohru ー YuKyo and ShiTohru would have been at the finish line.
If Shigure had dreamed of Tohru... or hell, what if he had dreamt of Akito but decided that that dream alone wasn't enough to keep the canine sense of loyalty he was cursed with?
There definitely would have been more than just proposals played for laughs and musings of that 'what could have been's.
Well anyway if you're curious to see my take on what it could have been like if Shigure dreamed of Tohru (complete w/ YuKyo and onesided AkiGure) do I have the story for you because I'm writing it on AO3. Read and give me comments to validate my delusions wwwwwwwwwww

I wonder what their witches will look like 👀 👀
WOOOAHWHWHHREH I WAS EXCITED ABOUT THAT ONE!! Witches in PMMM was one if the most interesting concept in the series to me. The style as well!! (I'll just list out the main casts from what I've already worked on). I can only provide concepts of them for now, as much as I love witches designs, it will be a pain TO design them as witches.
Took me a while to respond since I need to do some more reasearch on the names and such.
First things first we will start with Kyoko, her witch name will be Elvira; butterfly garden witch, her nature is "distrust". She only has one familiar on her and that is Holmes (get the reference?) Whose role is to only followed her instructions and look after her even when she never looked at their way.
Bio: The butterfly garden witch, her nature is distrusting. Living in her own world surrounded by injustice, her only purpose now is to getting rid of anyone- even her own minions- that disturbs her from seeking out the truth that will forever out of sight. Out of mind.
Second will be Nagito, his witch name will be Hyman; clover witch, his nature is "accepting". With two familiars on his side: Faust, whose role is to only bringing good luck. And Pechman, whose role is bringing bad lucks. Faust are annoying to handle, but be sure to avoid Pechman if possible!
Bio: The clover witch, accepting was his nature. With his body- frail and dying, that looks like it might fall apart and yet he never fell over like seasonal leaves. But he'll make sure to accept and leave all his regrets to the world that was left impurity.
Third comes next is Chiaki! Her witch name be Irene Von Adalwine; Knight witch, her nature is "attachment". With a few familiars to accompany her: Mel- whose role is to defend her world with their sword, Arvy- with a role to keep everything in place, and Ruth- as their role is to stay by her side.
Bio: The knight witch, where it is her nature to attachment. A witch that was pitiable, hiding her woe in entertainment that her familliars provide. In attempt to fill the empty void in her chest, humans that stumbles in her world will be captured by them to throw the victims inside the lonely void and piling them up.
Fourth came in will be Hajime/Kamukura, (why? Because if one of them doomed to fall in despair then both will become a witch! As they are connected) their witch name is Ikarus und Daedalus; fruitless witch, their nature being "vanity". Their Familiars are: nutcrackers- their jobs are to crack the impossible of things for the witch, they have the faces of those he held dear. Deacon- the bearer of bad news to him. Gottschalk- their roles are to carry out the witch's orders as they talk behind his back, their power almost match that to a magical warrior.
Bio: The fruitless witch, where Vanity is their nature. No matter how hard this two headed being cannot reach the warmth of the sun. As their familiars leads them both to the never-ending path towards the edge of the cliff, one must face death if being in their way. The fake seeks death, the failure seeks freedom.
The last one in the list is Makoto, his witch name being Gudrun Gretchen; witch of savior, his nature is "mercy". His familliar was called Useless; whose role is to be his wings that carries humanity to aid his process to cleanse the world. It is said that he is one of the strongest witch for he doesn't hide in his labirynth just like Walpurgisnacht.
Bio: The witch of savior, where his nature is merciful. Ti'll this day he still believes he is saving the universe, as he absorbed every last bit of humanity into his source of energy that led him to become bigger in size that could possibly destroy the galaxy. If everyone is gone, there is no need to feel despair, or even hope in that matter.

i've had dysfunctional Honda family on the brain lately, and i got to thinking about Katsuya's sister—better known as Tohru's bitchy aunt who had no respect for Tohru's boundries and treated her like shit. she and Tohru's cousins are set up as an inconsequential first boss, out of Tohru's life and the story halfway through the first act, and then she's barely in the series ever again. canon-wise there's not really much to be said about her: she's a shrill, selfish woman who's basically a Japanese Karen. there isn't anything more to her character, and in the context of the story there doesn't need to be.
but i just got to thinking—what was she like as a kid? what was it like for her growing up, when she had a strict and uncompromising father, a mother who died when she was a teen/young adult, and an older brother who grew up frustrated and repressed?
Tohru's grandfather said that he and Katsuya were always struggling, with Katsuya striving to meet his father's unfair expectations and Tohru's grandfather (who henceforth is going to be called Toshiro bc i can't keep typing out "Tohru's grandfather") unwilling to accept that his son wasn't the person Toshiro wanted him to be. imagine having to live in a house where your older brother and your father are always fighting, where your brother slowly becomes a different person over the years and your father won't stop pointing out everything that's "wrong" with your brother.
(i think it's also important to note that the story takes place approximately from 1999-2001, which means Toshiro is very firmly from the war generation. that almost certainly influenced his values and approach to life, from the sharp focus on education to how he expected "good etiquette" from his children. and i dunno—not to drag a far bigger can of worms into the mix, but i think there is something to be said about how horrific worldwide cruelty deflates into systematic national cruelty which trickles down into mundane societal cruelty that somehow becomes "just the way things are", which feeds nicely into the series' themes of generational trauma and how people come to normalize abuse.)
we don't know much about the Hondas' domestic life, but we do know this: Toshiro was unhappy with his kids and his kids were unhappy with their father. then the mother died and Toshiro lost what was probably his strongest connection to both of them. Katsuya and Toshiro didn't really get along until after Kyoko came into their lives, which was probably a good several years later. meanwhile, we don't know anything about Toshiro's relationship with his daughter, but clearly there isn't the same kind of bad blood between them as there was Katsuya and Toshiro.
and it's just. Katsuya's sister. his younger sister, the one who grew up beside him. a woman who married a faceless (but respectable) man, who has enough money to take vacations and hire private detectives and completely renovate houses, who looks down on Kyoko and can't stop judging her own brother's child for being raised by an ex-delinquent.
do you ever think about it? how the unnamed sister spent her formulative years in a house that was never at peace. her father was proud and stubborn, clearly not willing to deal with anything other than what HE thought was right. her mother likely tried to play peacekeeper, because that's often what the wife is reduced to in a fight between family members, and who knows what her relationships with her kids were like in the face of that. her brother started out as someone like Tohru, but slowly became a different person as their father's expectations pressured him into walling off entire parts of himself. she constantly heard her father talk derisively about Katsuya for being less than his ideal (maybe even to Katsuya's face). and she clearly comes from a high-status family who have no qualms with being assholes toward "unsavory" family members, if the flashbacks to Katsuya's funeral are anything to go by. every time she met with family—aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins, in-laws, what have you—she was reminded that you had to marry the right sort of person or you would be openly sneered at, receive no help or support, and be virtually disowned.
do you ever think about how she probably absorbed her father's ideas of an acceptable life because that's all she ever learned to value? how she took cues from her other family members and crafted a respectable persona that they would all approve of? that she possibly dotes on her family and supports her son's dream because she never got any of that love and acceptance for herself? her life is one of a stereotypical upper-middle-class suburban housewife, the kind who's obsessed with status and appearances to the point of becoming a shallow, cruel miniboss in a story about far worse cruelties and far less shallow motivations.
listen. listen. Tohru's aunt is an annoying person but also one that's easy to read. she felt "uneasy" around Kyoko. she wanted her son to succeed in life. she judged Tohru—a sweet girl who had literally never done anything of suspicion in her entire life—solely because of Tohru's parentage. she loved her father. she thought her father would support her in deriding the "distasteful" member of the family and she was wrong. she lost her mother at a young age. she refused to see Kyoko as worthy of respect. she thought Tohru was a delinquent like Kyoko who was shacking up with three strange men, but she still called to inform Tohru of Toshiro's illness and offered to go to the parent-teacher's conference with Tohru. her own father called her and her children "nasty by nature." she is a product of her childhood and also a deeply unpleasant person because she never chooses to extend compassion or kindness to others, much less any inklings of good faith.
and it all drives me a little nuts because Tohru's aunt is decidedly a minor character, and i don't think much thought was put into her characterization or backstory—she's the shitty judgmental family member who's there to be a roadblock for Tohru, and that's it. but the nuggets of information we get on Katsuya's past also creates a path for his sister's backstory, one that points to a quietly dysfunctional family, high pressure to be an acceptable member of society, and other unfortunate circumstances that led her aunt to becoming such a shallow, hardhearted person.
anyway. dysfunctional Honda family is very interesting.

Holy Quintet and their paranormal elements
I have been twirling this idea around my head for a good amount of time until I finally indulged it (and because I got some free time) so yeah. But first, let me explain to you what "paranormal elements" I'm talking about.
Simply, the paranormal elements from the Brazilian RPG called Ordem Paranormal (Paranormal Order if you will) and it has four main elements in which people can connect with.
BLOOD - Everything starts with Blood. Blood is the flow that drenches the eternity of the Other Side.
Blood is the entity of feelings. It seeks the intensity: pain, obsession, passion, love, hunger, hatred - everything evolving feeling an extreme emotion pleases the Blood entity.
DEATH - Everything has a start and an end, and time takes everything with it. Nothing transformed by Death can return to what was before.
Death is the entity of time. It seeks the lived moments, distorting the egocentric perception of each individual's existence for its own satisfaction.
KNOWLEDGE - To know everything is to lose everything.
Knowledge is the entity of consciousness. Discovering, learning, knowing, deciphering. Having one's perception of the Other Side and its entities pleases the Knowledge element.
ENERGY - Chaos is inevitable.
Energy is the entity of chaos. Everything that cannot be explained, the intangible, anarchy. The constant change, the heat and the cold, the light and the darkness. Everything that involves unpredictability and transformation pleases the Energy entity.
With that aside, let's get into it (and please, know this is my opinion based on their personality and character design overall).
Homura Akemi – Death/Knowledge
With the characterization of the anime and half of Rebellion (Devil Homura comes later), Homura has always struck me as a mix of Death and Knowledge.
For Death, obviously, her time powers. She doesn't have the ability to speed or slow things, only pause and reset. Her journey can be defined as "running around in circles" and the main symbol for this element is spirals. She seeks to live once again the happy moments with Madoka, in order to change her fate. Her mind is old but her body is young. Homura is an anachronistic. But playing with time - every story has an end eventually.
Along with that, there's Knowledge. Homura prefers logicality, she's strategic in her steps and plans. She takes mistakes as an opportunity to learn and turn better. She doesn't let emotions blind her sense of awareness. She stands on the side of reason. All of those traits are perfectly descriptive of the element of Knowledge. And yet - the holder of information, she can't even tell the others. The truth kills those who know, hence: to know everything is to lose everything.
Now, Devil Homura. She's blood and energy. Why?
What was the factor that made Homura do her board flip? Love and obsession. She tainted the entire universe with her feelings alone, creating a new world just for her beloved. This intensity is what the Blood entity seeks. An emotion so strong that is capable of changing the entire fabric of the universe.
This twines finely with her rebellion against the law and order the Law of Cycles set. Anarchy, the other side of the coin. Nobody expected her to suddenly overthrow Madoka. She's the darkness to Madoka's light. She's evil and unholy to Madoka's purity and divinity. Those traits fit into the description of Energy. Not to mention the entire purple motif going on.
Kyoko Sakura – Blood
A pretty damn obvious one. Intense with her own feelings, has a red motif. Bold, seeks carnage and hunts witches and if needed, magical girls. With a mindset of survivalism and refusal to lose against the chain of food with anger, hatred and bitterness in her heart, Kyoko's erratic intensity is basically a perfect description of what the Blood entity is.
Madoka Kaname - Knowledge
Meanwhile Knowledge is all about being logical and constantly seeking to discover, it also has this motif of purity and holiness. One of the creatures from the RPG associated with this element is literally the Angel from the bible, you know, biblically accurate angels?
Madoka, even much more in her Goddess form, fits into the category of Knowledge. The entity messes in a "psychological" way, spilling truths about things that are out of our reach - like a concept or an universal being. It maintains the balance of reality so it doesn't collapse. Guess who did something similar in the anime? The two colors which are commonly used to those who connect with the entity of Knowledge are yellow/golden and white. Once again, guess who uses this exact palette when she ascended to godhood? Madoka Kaname, you're Knowledge through and through.
Mami Tomoe - Knowledge
Just like Kyoko, Mami's also an obvious one. Thinks in the side of reason, has a yellow and white motif. She's elegant, not failing to have this aura of purity and holiness (hence, Holy Mami). When not having emotions blinding her sight, she's extraordinary. And yet… The truth is cruel in killing her. Despite fitting into the Knowledge entity, being aware of the truth behind Magical Girls makes her lose her mind without pity. She's a great explanation behind the meaning of the phrase "to know everything is to lose everything".
Sayaka Miki - Knowledge/Blood
Oh boy, I do love to analyze multifaceted characters.
Sayaka might not fit entirely into the Knowledge mood but she has some traits of it. A knight who fights for justice, for what's right or at least, what she thinks it's right. Through Sayaka's eyes, that's logical and reasonable. She fights to maintain peace and balance. In Rebellion, she used to be literally one of God's angels and lived in the Magical Girl heaven.
Despite these traits, Sayaka lets herself be swayed away by her own emotions. She's intense and isn't afraid to hide them. Despite sharing similar traits, she heavily conflicted with Kyoko, who's Blood as well. But later, in Rebellion, they connected more than ever. She summons Oktavia through her own blood because everything starts with Blood. She made a wish because of an emotion - love. Died because of that and with that because Kyoko loved her.
And for bonuses…
Nagisa Momoe - Energy
This sweet little ball of chaos. Who cares if it is God or the Devil who's in control of the universe? As long she's alive and has cheese, she's apparently fine. While Homura and Sayaka go down into an argument, she's seen running in the background, laughing. Maybe because she's free or maybe it's cool as hell to run through a river of punch juice. It's really funny to see a character who aligns with the entity of Energy be the family of someone who aligns with Knowledge. Oh, the irony. That's what Energy seeks for.
I hope all liked my shameless crossover between my two favorite pieces of media. It's fun to analyze characters through the lens of another universe. Don't care if it's cringe, at least I'm free. And if you're interested, search for Ordem Paranormal on YouTube! Recently, a special two-shot has been released with global creators, it's all in English. Other seasons have been subtitled in English as well. :)

(heads up, this post mentions death and suicide)
I started writing Bloom Within Us about 8 or 9 months ago, almost a year after losing a grandparent, as one way to deal with my grief from that loss. I hadn't written any fiction at all since high school, and I'd never written a story of more than ten pages (double-spaced), so it was very much a surprise to me that, despite being only about 2/3 complete, Bloom Within Us sits at over 220k words and nearly 600 pages. Writing it has led me down a rabbit hole, learning about the craft of fiction writing, and I'm so touched to hear it's resonated with readers. When I started, I truly thought I'd be lucky to get even one reader.
Though Bloom Within Us is based on a tragic premise (what if Tohru died after falling from the cliff?), it's meant to be a hopeful story. Kyo has faced traumatic loss after traumatic loss; would he really be able to survive losing Tohru after he told her about her mother?
I think the answer is maybe. He'd be devastated, for sure, and I don't think he'd be okay for a long while. However, even though it would be incredibly painful, this would be the first time in his life where he'd be mourning as part of a community. He'd have people there to support him, to grieve alongside him, and to tell him it's not his fault.
Kazuma was all but a stranger when Kyo's mother died, and he never knew what caused Kyo to lose all hope when Kyoko died. Kyo had no one who really understood, though Kazuma certainly tried, and probably saved Kyo's life in both instances.
But I imagine, if Kyo were able to mourn Tohru properly, alongside his cousins and friends and adoptive father, he might be okay one day. Maybe there's a way (or multiple ways) things could align that would allow him to move forward, and that's the path I've tried to take in my story.
In a lot of ways, writing about dark or tragic subjects is my way of trying to find (or create) hope. Things can feel unbearable, but they won't always feel that way. And while they do, you don't have to feel that way by yourself. There's always someone who can understand at least some of what you're experiencing.
For Kyo, whose arc really revolved around him choosing to live (both figuratively and literally), I think it would be really powerful to see that even after losing Tohru, he could one day be okay, and maybe even have a life he loves.
So, in many ways, I hope Bloom Within Us comes across as having an anti-su*cide message. That is my intent, along with the other ideas I'm trying to explore, such as the universal nature of loss, or the importance of having community during challenging times.
When I learned that a younger cousin of mine ended their life this weekend, it brought up a lot of feelings. I wasn't particularly close with this cousin. I wasn't "not close," either; they just tended to keep a distance, and I was anxious that I'd come on too strong, so I let them remain at a distance.
Hearing now about the things that felt insurmountable to my cousin, I wish we'd been able to connect. They'd felt insurmountable to me, too, at that age, but I made it through to the other side. And I know so many people who went through a crisis in their late 20s only to emerge from that crisis with a better understanding of themselves, and a life they actually want. Life can and does get better, for so many of us. I think it would've gotten better for my cousin, too, if they were still here. I wish they'd been able to hang on at least until they could see that, too.
I don't know yet if I'll need a break from writing, especially writing a story that deals with grief and suicide. I don't know if I'll need a break from fandom or social media. Right now, I've been going about everything more or less as usual, and that's been working for me, but that could change. I am okay, and I know I'll be okay, even though I'll be sad for a while. I have a good support network and I'm in a good place despite everything. If I disappear for a bit, it's because I'm relying on my IRL support network. ❤️

Big Celestia/Chihiro/Celeshiro headcanon post:
Wanted to compile a bunch of my headcanons here:
Celeste:
Starts off cold towards the class as in canon, but warms up to them. Becomes fiercly protective of them since they'rw her only friends
If she catches people bullying Toko, Chihiro, Taka, Hifumi, Makoto, etc she will retaliate
Is trying to come off super cool but is actually incredibly awkward. Most of the class still think she is cool after bedriending her
Extremely eager to show off her knowledge about her interests. Will just infodump on whoever is willing to listen.
Cries a lot in secret
Very insecure about her body and appearance
Also insecure about her interests that aren't gambling and European culture. Only Chihiro, Hifumi, Makoto, and Kyoko know she's into things like manga and video games. The rest suspect she's secretly a nerd.
Speaking of also prone to gamer rage and she's very thankful the dorms are sound proof
Secretly a My Little Pony fan. Only Chihiro knows because they made a joke while they were hanging out once about her name and noticed her panic. She took her first name from Princess Celestia. Also why she calls the others darling after befriending them.
If Byakuya's not around she'll be one of the first to offer to pay. She is bad at showing how much she values the others so she compensates with paying for meals or tickets to places
Basically kind of a bitchy Rarity once she has gotten over herself and connected with everyone.
Sews her own clothes, and eventually starts making clothes for the others with a discount on comissions
Gets roped into the obligatory D&D episode by Hifumi
Comes from a family that lived in poverty, got bullied as a kid as a result
Part of the bullying was being called a loser over and over again
Why she ends up being one of the first to stick up for the others
Has learned some self-defense to protect herself since she spends a lot of time illegally gambling
While she does drop more and more of her persona as time goes on, and is more authentic with everyone she still prefers the Celestia name and fancy clothing. They help her feel comfortable in her own skin.
She's only really comfortable using Taeko with the rest of Class 78, and even then not when they're out in public
Absolutely unable to cook well
Will start arguments with Byakuya, Leon, and/or Mondo for the fun of it.
Her and Makoto kinda confide in each other about how they feel like fakes next to everyone else.
She has read every single one of Toko"s books multiple times.
Ocassionally she will correct Hifumi when he gets something wrong about an anime and whistle innocently when people are stunned she knew that.
Makes the time to go to events the others are doing like Sayaka's concerts or Hina's swim meets.
Once she went with Hifumi to help sell his doujins. Ended up with Hifumi punching a guy in the face for creeping on her.
Sakura and Mondo also worry about her going to seedy parts of town to gamble and have discreetly followed her to make sure she's safe
She enjoys challenging Kyoko to various cars games
She also ends up enjoying discussing history with Taka
While at first she really hated Yasuhiro she did end up finding he could have surprisingly good advice from time to time.
Chihiro:
Trans girl. I accept any hcs on their gender. For me personally I just see them as a trans girl who compensated by trying to fit into a mold of manliness before realizing and accepting her identity.
She still likes to work out and try to get stronger.
Into making mods for video games
Has been into just about every embarassing fandom at one point or another. Superwholock, Homestuck, Undeetale, MLP, Steven Universe. She was overjoyed when she found out Celeste was too.
She will also haplily offer to pay for the others when Byakuya's not around. Her programming skills have made her a good amount of money, placing her just behind Celeste's wealth and 3rd highest overall
Also can not cook at all
Has a terrible sleep schedule, will need coffee as soon as she wakes up
While she identifies she/her she still doesn't have many feminine typical interests beyond the clothing.
Bottles up frustrations and anger, lets it out online in arguments.
Genuinely admires all of her classmates
Besides Makoto she is the most popular person in her class
Cries a lot too, but openly
She has written a program for each classmate that helps with their talent in some way
Celeshiro:
They kept it a secret for a long time
While keeping it a secret everyone thought they were just crushing on each other and kept trying to get them together
They kept playing it off pretending not to get it
Kyoko knew from the start
When they finally let the others know it was after they had an argument that was their first big argument.
They like spending a lot of time together in their dorms watching movies/tv, playing games together, being affectionate, and talking a lot
Because they both have a lot of hang ups they end up comforting one another a lot.
Said this before but Celeste ended up trauma dumping on the first date.
Celeste also had a panic attack prior to the date
In general even though it seems like Celeste is the cool mature one, Chihiro is the one that's more mature
Chihiro is drawn to Celeste because she thinks she is cool, that she is protective, and admires her willpower
Celeste is drawn to Chihiro because she loves her optimisim and friendliness. That she is not judgmental, and is always willing to listen to her ramblings
After they reveal their relationship they get a lot more affectionate in public
Chihiro also basically moves into Celeste's room.
Because Celeste forgets to lock her door a lot, they have been walked in on by every single one of their classmates at least once
They get married pretty quickly after graduating
While they don't really want to have kids the old fashioned way, they do get very adoption happy and they tend to spoil the kids. They might even run a foster home
Among them is Kokichi who Celeste likes to playfully have compete against Kyoko's protege Shuichi
Kyoko nor Chihiro even realize there's supposed to be a rivalry going on
Chihiro and Celeste are very cuddly. They find it difficult to get to sleep without touching the other in some way
Celeste makes Chihiro clothes for free
Because neither of them can cook they order take out a lot.

I woke up today no thoughts, brain empty.
Which is fine.
I've already hit word count today, so I may take a break from all the things. Nothing seems...interesting right now. All is still and quiet.
That said, OAEI looks like it'll be 75-85k (I expect it to pass 75k because I'm about at 63k, I have five Remnants chapters to put in (1k-2k a piece, probably), and maybe five other chapters left not including potential epilogue. 75k is a small amount, all things considered).
It also looks like the time span of the fic will be roughly 10 days (10.5 if you count Day Zero).
It may only be nine. I've got four non-memories chapters left. It really depends on what happens on Day Nine.
...it might actually be only nine days because it would be the end of the ninth when the thing happens, so it would have to be during the late hours of Day Nine or the early hours of Day Ten.
...I should make it the early hours of Day Ten just so that it's nearly exactly ten days - a few hours at the end of Day Zero and a few hours at the beginning of Day Ten.
Hm.

Comparison between Kyoko and Aoi, for who’s ass is the best!
Warning: lewd content below
“I’m obviously right!”
“Think about it logically and you’ll see you’re wrong.”
“What are you two arguing about?” Makoto walked into a classroom afterschool to see his two best friends arguing. Originally he just went into the classroom because he left his binder due to his bad luck, but it seems like the argument between the two girls is more important.
“Makoto! Glad you’re here!”
“There’s an important question you’d need to answer.” Makoto was lost as to what they were talking about. They both approached the boy, and Makoto just assumed they would both just tell him. Instead, both girls turned away from him. Before Makoto could voice his confusion they both bent over, putting their phat asses on full display.
“‘Whose ass is better?!?’”
“What?!?” Makoto stumbled backwards, but both girls still looked at him with anticipation on his face. He could tell he eagerly awaited his response. “Uhm, g-girls. You shouldn’t compare yourselves to each other. You’re both, uhm, beautiful in your own way.”
“Huh? No, I'm pretty happy with my body. I just think Kyoko has a better ass.”
…huh?
“Quit being modest. You’re obviously the more gifted when it comes to sex appeal.”
“Wait wait wait wait wait. You are both arguing that the other person has a better ass than you?” Makoto interrupted the pair’s back and forth. Both girls looked at him confused, like he was the crazy one.
“Uh, duh? What were you thinking?”
“He probably wasn’t thinking at all. Most boys can’t when they stare at your ass.”
“Oh like you’re one to talk!” Hina suddenly crouched down and pulled down Kyoko’s skirt, revealing her pale and bouncy ass to Makoto. Makoto and Kyoko’s faces turned fully red, especially once it was revealed that Kyoko decided to go out without any panties. “See! Her ass is way bigger than mine. Plus it's so bouncy!” Hina tapped her ass repeatedly so that Makoto could see it jiggle. Hina squished and spanked Kyoko’s ass, causing her big behind to shake accordingly. Kyoko, who was originally furious, allowed the swimmer to play with her ass for as long as she liked. Makoto could’ve sworn he even heard her moan, but it’s not that she’d ever admit to that if he asked her.
“If you’re finished, I have a wonderful counterargument to make.”
“And that is?”
“Just watch.”
Now it was Kyoko’s turn to pull down Hina’s shorts. And of course, to make it fair, she pulled down Hina’s panties as well so that both girls were bottomless. Almost like clockwork, Hina’s face erupted into a blush just like Kyoko’s did. “As you can see here, while my ass may be bigger, Hina’s is much more bubbly and thick. Plus, it’s much tighter which is much more pleasurable for use.” Kyoko explained her preference for Hina’s ass like a dentist examining a patient's teeth. She even touched her ass like a professional, pulling apart her cheeks and letting them clap as they connect back together. Granted, if Kyoko jumped her ass would also clap just the same as seen whenever they’ve had gym class together. But that’s a story for a different day. Right now what was important was that the detective’s gloved fingers have traveled past Hina’s ass and began fingering her as she used her other hand to stretch open her cheeks. Kyoko’s deduction was correct as Hina’s hole was tight, as judged by the speed at which Kyoko pulled her fingers out. If Kyoko’s moans were a quiet hum, Hina’s were a loud yell as she vocally moaned to being fingered in public for several minutes.
“U-uh. G-guys?” Makoto chirped up for the first time since Kyoko's ass was revealed. The two girls looked over at him to see the noticeable bulge in his pants. Makoto refused to make eye contact as he sweat nervously. Both girls exchanged guilty glances before approaching Makoto while he was looking away. Before he knew it he was pushed to the ground and was pantsed by them both. When he finally looked at the girls they were both bent over his erect cock.
“Sorry Makoto, we didn’t mean to tease you.”
“Allow us to apologize.~” As Kyoko finished that sentence she and Hina pressed their asses together and around the lucky boy’s member. They both started shaking them up and down, pleasuring Makoto with a double buttjob. Makoto felt some precum be siphoned out of his balls, which only caused the girls to move faster. Not that he was complaining, watching to cum glazed asses shake up and down was heaven on earth. And the pleasure his cock was feeling was the cherry on top.
Unsurprisingly, at the end of it all, Makoto forgot about his binder.

Incomplete Stage Girls (1340 words)
Or: I ramble about Seiran because I love them so much and they don't get enough love.
Typical disclaimers of a bunch of this is just my interpretation and I could very well get some info wrong. I just like Seiran, I'm far from all knowing about them.
Kyoko Yakumo: Suprise, I'm talking about their teacher as well because she is important! A lot of this is from Saikai Eyes which you should definitely read if you haven't... If getting to hear Yakumo and Souda's backstory doesn't convince you, you get the backstory of the character who is canonically the lead in New National's Production of El Dorado in the movie so....... I'm off track already whoops! Anyways to sum things up Yakumo is someone filled with regret over the past. Specifically over her own decision to run away. Her story itself is incomplete. The reason she is the person she is now is because she knows the pain of lingering regrets that being a stage girl can cause. Thus the whole battle with Seisho in Transition with the ultimate goal being to show Seiran that they needed to find their own strength (and also a bit to get back at Souda, but don't worry about that for now). The guiding principle that Yakumo brings to her teachings (as shown in both Transition and Blue Glitter) is to help her students find their own internal strength that will carry them forward as stage girls. Heck the whole curriculum is built around this! The students don't just study either acting or tech, they study both, and seemingly given relatively free reign on working together and what they work on. Suzu, Hisame, and Koharu sort of lead the students, but ultimately it is all of them working together. Plus unlike schools like Siegfeld or Seisho with set plays, the students at Seiran get to pick their own. (I think? At least that's what Transition seems to imply).
Anyways, the core value of Seiran is helping students grow to be self-fulfilled stage girls. Which is really perfect for our main trio because they are not doing great in that department when they first arrive.
We first meet Seiran in Transition. And at first they are defined, not by themselves, but by the Seisho characters they have known. They are literally incomplete narratively as before we learn more about them as individuals in Blue Glitter we learn about them from their pasts with Seisho. Hisame's jealousy and fear of her time in middle school with Nana. Suzu's failure to stand by Mahiru's side, and (most hilariously) Koharu's hope that she can relate to Maya and stop being alone (to which Maya just does not give a shit and completely ignores her,, Koharu I'm so sorry). Which by the way in the manga adaptation there's short vignettes added in that give more info on their pasts and they are excellent, so go read that if you've only seen the play. Notably these connections are all regrets, or weaknesses that they hope the others can fix. Just like their desire to steal Starlight. A solution that is only a substitute for their own deeper struggles. Ultimately throughout the play they begin to move on, but they don't quite fully connect with each other. In the revues they never truly fight together. Only individually at first. And then altogether with Seisho at the end. At this point in time while Seiran is clearly working together they aren't quite truly a team.
Blue Glitter opens with Seiran really going through it. Koharu is struggling to live up to the pressure she feels from being in charge. Hisame feels unable to help, and can't properly take Koharu's burden or break free of her own. Suzu is in a dilemma of being unsure how to bring the three of them to the same page. All of them are struggling to work together and understand each other. But crucially it is due to their care for each other that this conflict has arisen. They definitely aren't fully a team yet, but even while they fight it is out of love.
Each of them holds regrets, fears, and weaknesses. All of those things brought them to Seiran. Brought them together. As we learn throughout the play Koharu was never able to communicate with others well. Combined with her talent at performing she was seen as harsh and unfair even when she didn't intend anything of the sort. She became isolated and saw the stage as a lonely place. Meanwhile Hisame felt that her own fear had driven those close to her away. That she didn't know how she could continue as a stage girl, even if she desperately wanted to reach that place once more. Suzu was unsure with her acting abilities. Able to continue pushing forward with her enthusiasm, but always unable to actually reach the mark. She didn't know if she would ever actually be able to succeed.
But when they found each other, they were able to understand each other, connect with each other, and help each other. While each individually is incomplete, together they are far greater than the sum of their parts.
A common idea in revstar is the loneliness of performing onstage. One must always be able to stand alone, and yet you are never alone as a performer. Each character and in a broader view each school tackles this idea differently. It's not a coincidence that Seiran studies tech as well as performing. In the climax to Blue Glitter the three are literally rejected by the theatre for their failure to perform. Yet they rebuild the stage and stand on it once more. By having someone else who understands them. Who feels the same way that they do. Even if they must stand alone, they can still derive strength from being together.
The auditions and revues in revue starlight are really significant, and tie into so many different things. But for Seiran, whose view of the stage was bleak to be generous before they meet each other. To truly bring themselves back from the abyss (thank you manga chanpter names for the reminder that being unable to perform is literal death for a stage girl) is just so significant. And their brand of connection is just so meaningful and a lot of why I love them so much.
I'm not sure exactly how the translation works, but a key difference can I think be summed up in Seiran's version of the rebirth metaphor (listen this is one of my favorite themes from revstar I love talking about it). Specifically when its used in the anime (specifically by Karen) it is "I am reborn" or "self-remake", but in Blue Anthem it is, "self-reform". Seiran isn't brilliantly reborn from their passion. Instead they meticulously grow. Their weaknesses are guides as they support each other and deliberately work to improve themselves.
Really what I just mean is go listen to Blue Anthem everything I'm trying to say is in there.
I feel like I have barely scratched the surface, but I don't know how much of the rest of it is comprehendible right now, so I should probably shut up soon.
But uhhhhhh Hisame's story in Climax shows the significance of Seiran being together, but also how their bonds continue with them even when they are apart.
I could talk a bunch about how Hisame and Akira connect with each other and about Seiran in Edel Delight (they finally get to be doing good!!), but I'll just say that the AkiHisa Rose Poems was my favorite
I'll probably write another long ramble really soon about Koharu and Sakura, because Sakura is sooooo important, but my thoughts on it ended up getting too long... (it is the parallels between Sakura and Koharu, and Karen and Hikari, its....)
This made me start thinking about how all the schools are slightly different in their themes, and now I want to take a second to just rethink about how each character fits into each school
I can't stop rotating revue starlight in my head... the ideas for keep coming.
So that is a bit of why I love Seiran so much. There's a lot more, but.... yup

Let the meeting begin!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well... given you search for this Masa, I suppose we should all check it out, right?
Tumblr media
I guess so... still, I'm not sure if it's safe to go; I mean, I have other projects to work on...
Tumblr media
Look, all I'm asking is for you to check them out and if it gets too dangerous, you can leave; it's why I ask Gozu to help with transportation so he can make sure none of you are hurt.
Tumblr media
Wait... Gozu, did you really agree with this?
Tumblr media
I did, as say; I was the first to read it, suggested who should handle this and it's why you 3 are here; I'll be sure to help with transporting and making sure all 3 of you are safe.
Tumblr media
Given that Makoto Naegi's actions and about that restaurant that that was connected to Ultimate Despair, I think we should at least see where this does lead us.
Tumblr media
Exactly so how about it?
Tumblr media
...Okay fine, I suppose I can go see what I can uncover and report back.
Tumblr media
But remember, this might take a few days to gather, I hope you can be patient, alright?
Tumblr media
Oh don't worry, I can do just that but thank you but what about Daisaku, you in?
Tumblr media
hmm, I'm... still not sure, I mean it's dangerous but if Gozu is going to help out, I suppose I wouldn't mind to look...
Tumblr media
But this will take a while to report back as well, it should take me 4 days or so to look into this.
Tumblr media
Yeah and I suppose I can see where the shipments are from and locate them; so leave this to me.
Tumblr media
Good thank you 4 for helping us out, I'm sure whatever you find is going to be useful! I'll be sure to investigate further until then; if you find anything as well so good luck.
Tumblr media
Alright then, thank you - will get started, see you until then.
Tumblr media
Heh, yes yes good luck to you all; I hope whatever you find has proven useful.
Tumblr media
Yeah, see you then Mr. Tengan...
*the 4 left the meeting room; leaving only Masa and Kyoko*
Tumblr media
Seems like we are going to be quite busy, aren't we?
Tumblr media
Looks like it, given not just what's going on in Towa City right now but also investigating this lead.
Tumblr media
I'm still wondering how you got this lead, Masa - given you ask for 4 divisions assistance here; I am curious where you got the information from.
Tumblr media
I already told you, I had my sources and at least if it helps with the investigation then it should be fine, right?
Tumblr media
Plus you are aware how things have been since Pig Boy has been expose as Ultimate Despair, correct? People are staying in their homes and not getting any food since the shipments could come from the same place, right?
Tumblr media
*sigh* Yes, I'm... aware of it, still we should wait until Class 77-B have all awaken...
Tumblr media
But Masa isn't wrong, we do need to find out about this before matters get worse so let's-.
SECRETARY: Mr. Tengan, you got 2 people calling you?
Tumblr media
I do? Very well - put the first caller on...
SECRETARY: Understood...
*CLICK*
Tumblr media
Good I got in, Mr. Tengan - I want to speak with you on a matter that has happen recently and I'm sure your aware of it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
A matter? What do you mean...?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Oh you know exactly what I mean, one of your agents went into the Otori Mart, grab personal documents meaning they stole them which means they took something that was meant for the Kisaragi Foundation! I'm sure you must know that the one that stole them was Masa Esumi so don't you dare hide it from me!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
... (So that's where she got the documents from?)

Event: Can't Communicate
When a person has extreme social anxiety, they struggle to communicate with others.
Bear in mind, they only struggle to form connections. It doesn’t mean that they don’t want to.
(Before anyone asks, yes. This event is inspired by Komi Can't Communicate. I also thought it would be fun use the exact quote as a reference. Also, keep in mind that this takes place sometime after the Towa City event
As the camera turns on, Makoto was facing it with a slight smile on his face. He's gotten a bit more confident it seems.
Tumblr media
"Hey everyone. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who heled us to save our loved ones and go up against to Warriors of Hope. Things have been a lot better now that we've been reunited. The warriors themselves have since been living better lives in our care too. Best of all, we saved Towa City. With all that all being said..."
Tumblr media
"We uh... kind of need your help with something else. Recently, we found an Ultimate Despair and helped freed him from the Despair he was in."
Tumblr media
"He's... pretty nervous to show his face. I'm hoping that maybe making some new friends will help him, but... He doesn't seem too sure about it."
Cautious footsteps can be heard.
Tumblr media
"Huh? You want to introduce yourself?"
Tumblr media
"In that case, go for it! I'm sure you'll be making friends in no time."
The footsteps kept going, until eventually, a new face is revealed.
Tumblr media
"..."
Oh! Look! It's Nagito Komaeda. He looks like he wants to say something, but... isn't saying anything. Is he okay?
Tumblr media
"..."
Tumblr media
"...?"
Nagito tried looking at the camera to say hello.
Tumblr media
Oh dear. That just made him even more nervous. The other timid luckster was now shivering and whimpering. As of matter fact, this was making Makoto begin to shiver and whimper as well.
You might want to step in.
(Yes. This is a timid version of Nagito. I figured since we have a one timid luckster, why not have another.
Originally, this was going to have Makoto try to calm Nagito down, he fails, Nagito hides, Makoto feel super bad, then he hides, Makoto feel bad and hides as well and leaves the interactor(s) to try and calm them both down.
But of course, tumblr has to limit images to 10 per post. *sigh*
This is still the same hope-crazy Nagito we all know and love by the way, He's just more timid than timid!Makoto is(and he has his own backstory for it too) And yes, he is somewhat based on Komi.
I hope that you all enjoy this 200 follower special event! Anyone who isn't tagged can interact too.

On December 8th 1980, John Lennon was gunned down and killed in New York.
Over the years  it is Paul McCartney who is the Beatle most connected with Scotland, but John Lennon has links with our country going back to his childhood.
The ex-Beatle was a regular visitor to Durness in Sutherland during his younger years after his dear Aunt Mater remarried a dentist called Bert who owned a home that overlooked Sango Bay. John, who travelled north with his cousin Stanley Parks, who lived in Edinburgh and later in Largs, would head to the coast for weeks on end, often being dragged into helping his uncle fix up the house.
“The family party roughed it in a primitive farmhouse lit by oil lamp and candles and noisy with the screeches of Mater’s pet parrot,” wrote Philip Norman in his biography John Lennon: The Life.
The house where Lennon holidayed at Sangomore, a settlement at Durness, was demolished just a few years ago with a new property built by the owners.
Parkes also recalled:
John never forgot those times at Durness. They were among his happiest memories. He loved the wilderness. John was nine when he started coming up with my family to the croft in Durness. The croft belonged to my stepfather, Robert Sutherland, and John just loved the wildness and the openness of the place. We went fishing and hunting and John loved going up into the hills to draw or write poetry. John really loved hill walking, shooting and fishing. He used to catch salmon. He would have been quite a laird. In the last letter to me before he was killed he quoted a famous Scottish saying that says ‘It’s a braw, bricht moonlicht nicht since I last had a word’.
John later took his to Scotland, but his visit was tainted by an accident he had in his Austin Maxi car.
He, Ono and Kyoko sustained cuts to the face and Ono’s back was injured. They were taken to Golspie’s Lawson Memorial Hospital where Lennon was given facial stitches, Ono 14 in her forehead, and Kyoko four. Julian Lennon was treated for shock but was otherwise unhurt. He was taken to stay with Lennon’s Aunt Mater in Durness, around 50 miles away, before his mother Cynthia took him back to London the following day. When she arrived at the hospital to demand an explanation from Lennon he refused to see her.Lennon remained in hospital for five days and famously told reporters:
“If you’re going to have a car crash, try to arrange for it to happen in the Highlands.“The hospital there was just great.”
Lennon was never a confident driver and gave up driving after the accident, hiring a chauffeur to take him wherever he needed to go and reportedly having the old car’s carcass mounted on a pillar at his English estate.
This 1969 crash wasn’t John’s first brush with danger on Scottish roads; Ken McNab, author of The Beatles in Scotland, revealed that the Beatles had an accident during their first tour in 1960, when they were backing up singer Johnny Gentle as the Silver Beetles.
As McNab put it, “John Lennon began the ’60s with a car crash in Scotland and managed to end the decade with another car crash in Scotland.”
There is a wee memorial garden to Lennon’s memory in Durness, other memorials in the country include a bench in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens and a plaque  in Durness.
