Synopsis : Joseon is in a state of disorder due to uprisings and a power struggle surrounding King Lee Hun. To avoid assassination, a clown named Ha Sun is brought to the palace to take the place of King Lee Hun. Ha Sun looks almost identical to King Lee Hun. (MDL)
AKA : The Man Who Became King | Masquerade
Whumpee : Clown Ha Seon / King Lee Hun played by Yeo Jin Goo
Country : 🇰🇷 South Korea

Note : This is the new & improved Full Whump List
• Remake of Masquerade (2012), which in turn is inspired by "The Prince and the Pauper" by Mark Twain
• I color coded the 2 whumpees to make it easier to spot - I wasn't originally going to include King Lee Hun, but since it's the same actor I figured, why not?
• My favorite eps (what were on my OG style list) are pink : 00
Episodes on List : 11
Total Episodes : 16
*Spoilers below*
01 : King Yi Heon has a nightmare.. collapses.. steadily goes through a psychotic break throughout the ep. … Ha Seon is pushed down, locked up
02 : Ha Seon is in a fight (slightly comedic) … King Yi Heon is high AF … Ha Seon is grabbed & threatened, then drops to the ground.. in shock, collapses
03 : Ha Seon is shot at.. bit by a dog
04 : King Yi Heon pierced his own eardrum … Ha Seon is stabbed
05 : … continued from previous ep. : Ha Seon is stabbed & sick
06 : Ha Seon gets the hiccups that he can't get rid of (not really whump, but too funny & cute not to mention 😂)
07 : King Yi Heon beats up Ha Seon ... Ha Seon's arm is cut.. is thrown in a pit
08 : King Yi Heon has a migraine .. basically reached a full psychotic break; shaking, difficulty holding things, & understanding.. is poisoned & dies (I do not like his character at all, but in the end I do feel just a tiny bit sorry for him)
11 : (at end) Ha Seon is shot
12 : … continued from previous ep. : Ha Seon is shot ... is clapped on his wounded shoulder, winces
16 : Ha Seon is shot (presumably dies.. I honestly can't tell if the ending is supposed to be his survival or a dream/ghost/remembrance - type thing)

joseon is the country that killed my parents. it's the one I escaped from. that's why I wanted to crush it, leave it, and go back to my homeland, which is america. but then I met a woman. she often made me waver. I knew you'd give me that look if I told you my story. I knew, but it still hurts.
