Hero Academy AU (Dark SBI Edition)

I started to write an outline, but when it hit 2 pages, I decided to condense it.

Technoblade does not want to become a hero, but his Hero Parents force him to enroll in the hero academy.

He slacks off in class to try and get kicked out, but his parents talk to the headmaster and it doesn't work. No matter how much trouble he causes.

The only tolerable person at the academy is Mr. Craft, one of the teachers in charge of academics and not heroism. Which means Techno can succeed in his classes while trying to fail his hero classes.

Mr. Craft does have a power, though, and he is often asked to help in hero courses. Mr. Craft is able to temporarily draw out a person's potential, showing how their power can grow. It's not super practical in a fight because he has to be touching the person he is boosting.

Technoblade has blood manipulation powers, but he hides that and most people think he just has, like, enhanced strength or something. One of his parents is strong, so it makes sense.

Techno REFUSES to let Mr. Craft touch him.

Worry grows at the academy as more and more heros have been killed by The Angel, a villain with the ability to literally rip another person's power out of them. And while this doesn't kill someone, most wish they were dead. It's like a piece of their soul has been ripped apart.

There are rumors that The Angel can do more, but it's never confirmed.

The heros are only thankful that The Angel can't use the powers he steals. They are just gone.

The Academy won't let Techno keep avoiding training. They need HEROES and they needed them YESTERDAY. He's basically FORCED to let Mr. Craft use his ability on Techno.

The experience is...pleasant. Heady. Almost like a drug. Mr. Craft's power comes with a sense of Euphoria as Techno's powers are ratcheted higher. And Higher. And HIGHER as he suddenly can feel the heartbeats of the whole school, of the whole city, of the whole COUNTRY-

Technoblade pulls away from Mr. Craft in horror, staring at his Shocked Teacher with a silent plea for him to say nothing.

Mr. Craft just says that Techno has only slightly better than average super strength, and Technoblade relaxes. The other teachers move on, with dissappointment. Technoblade just thanks Mr. Craft profusely.

Mr. Craft assures him that he will keep his secret IF Technoblade agrees to private tutoring to help control Techno's powers. Because even if Technoblade doesn't want to be a hero, his powers will STILL grow as he ages. And if his powers are out of control, then he might hurt himself or others. Mr. Craft might not be a hero, but he can at least teach Technoblade that much.

Technoblade agrees on the condition that Mr. Craft helps him to get the heck out of The Academy.

Mr. Craft is more than happy to promise to do everything in his power to make sure that Technoblade NEVER ends up as a hero.

And The Angel is more than happy to get a powerful protegé.

Only sharing 10 here, this made me realize I need to finish more of my wips because I have about 15 fics I've completed for Cala total and not all of them have dialogue I really liked for this, so. that's some motivation I guess!

“And so can you,” she growls. “What’s the fun if you’re only going to jump away? Put in some effort, will you?” - the sunlit spark

Calantha rests her hand on his shoulder. “That’s kind of you,” she says. “But I would prefer having you next to me. I sleep alone enough as it is.” - before dawn

“Some meeting it was,” she says. A smile tickles the corners of her mouth. “Both of us alone in your quarters, and somehow we lost all our clothes…” - clouded thoughts and sunlight

“I wouldn’t dream of going back on it,” she says, barely fighting off the sarcastic note in her voice. “Give me a moment to consider what flavor of embarrassment I can still stomach.” - new friends, old fears

“If you’re worried about Ala Mhigo, the negotiations – Whatever happens, we’ll get through it. We’ll have everyone there together.” - blame the rain

“Love, hm?” Her words are slow, drowsy. “Is that what you’re calling me now?” - lazy

“I did promise you I’d return in one piece,” she murmurs. “Remember?” - reunion

“Hi, I’m Calantha Lenn, slayer of primals, and I can’t write a stupid letter,” she grumbles. - a heartfelt letter

Calantha’s eyes snap open. She glares. “I wasn’t floundering.” - sleep prompt

She glares, half annoyed, half defiant. "Why don’t you go? Stick your spiky face somewhere else. I can manage alone.” - the well-being of friends

Stress Relief

Calantha is somewhere between aggravated, alarmed and saddened – not that she perhaps would use those words herself. She mostly just finds herself weary, and glad she has the time to see Hien, her stress lifting as soon as she sat foot in the Kienkan. Even if she does, perhaps, slam the shoji open with more force than strictly necessary.

“Calantha!” Hien looks up from the scroll he’s been reading, and smiles at her. She doesn’t even resist the urge to smile back, some of her annoyance dissipating at the sight of him. “How you are you?”

“Fine,” she replies. Really, she is. “And you?”

Hien nods, rolls up his scrolls and stands. “To be forthright, I need to stretch my legs – too many missives today.”

He reaches for her, and presses a soft kiss to her lips.

“Do you care to spar, Calantha? I could use the exercise.”

Calantha considers. She is tired, but restless.

“Not afraid I will injure your pride?”

“We will see.”

They warm up both of them, the luxury of having time to stretch and not rushing into battle. Calantha picks a simple lance, and Hien a training katana.

“Ready?” Hien asks, and Calantha realizes she is more than, bouncing on her feet, restlessness winning over her tiredness.

Hien charges her, and she jumps, avoiding his swing. It’s a rush next; attack and dodge, weapons connecting, retreat and attack, strike and parry. She thinks she gets a hit in or two, but Hien doesn’t flinch and presses on, likewise managing a strike on her, the blunt weapon striking across her thigh.

Hien grins at her, and presses his advantage, but Calantha flips out of his way, landing solidly in the empty training yard. She wipes sweat off her brow, and their dance begins anew. Now, Calantha takes the time to assess the battlefield, determined not to let Hien get the upper hand. She knows his fighting style, as well as he knows hers. Considering, she vaults back when he advances, twisting herself to avoid crashing into a training dummy. Hien advances again, his gaze blazing, almost like a physical caress.

It wouldn’t serve to get distracted now. She goes on the offense, thrusting her lance with a renewed fierceness. Thrust and counter. Thrust and counter.  When Hien takes a step back, she presses, and jumps.

Calantha has him against the wall, the tip of her lance pressed against his throat. She looks down at him with a feral smile, and Hien swallows and licks his lips.

“You got me, Calantha.”

She breathes out, a hard puff, and tosses her lance to the ground.

“And your pride?”

“Hale and well.” He drops the katana, and puts his hands around her waist. “You did not have me on the ground.”

She bends her head and kisses him, hard and rough at first, but she slows when he melts under her, giving and giving and giving. Calantha feels much less tired and far more calm when they finally break the kiss apart, and she pulls him as close as she can.

“I think you tricked me,” she says.

Hien smiles into her collarbone.

“Did, I now?”

So Bas'riish's encounter with the siblings went a little different in my story. She's pansexual, you see, and… well…

She had both of them. At the same time. 🤯

(NO, there was no incest. They were both focused on Bas.)

They tried to keep a low profile after restoring their family's fortunes. But during the Zakuulan occupation, things changed. Cedonia tried to keep Lenn from doing anything stupid but… he did.

He got himself killed.

Years later, the Alliance brokered a peace treaty on Alderaan. (Vector and Ulannium were involved.) One of the stipulations of the treaty was that House Teraan's restoration would be recognized, with Cedonia as its head.

She and Bas did get caught up. (As friends.)

Can I gush about OC/comic stuff for a moment? (mostly spoiler free)

The story is about fate and friendship and how sometimes soulmates can be best friends too.

Now I won't lie, none of this was intentional, but this story has a way of writing itself in the darnedest of ways. I can dissect it like an english teacher for symbolism and themes. It doesn't even feel like I'm reaching... It's there somehow and come out of nowhere.

One of our main characters, Tony calls the majority of his friends or partners by nicknames. All of his friends end up with 4 letter nicknames, (Theo, Enzo) and all of his "soulmates," end up with 3 letter nicknames, (Wil, Meg, Oli, Liv). We haven't forced this or anything, it's just the natural break in their names.

Tony's a total romantic and thinks anyone he's with at the time is "definitely his soulmate"...............but it's somehow so beautiful that his BEST FRIEND Lennon, his name can be shortened as Lenn or Len and it's the same.........because sometimes your best friend is your soulmate... :)

The reason why Sanji (who never trains and just cooks) is still close to Zoro (the obsessed trainer) in power is very simple.

Sanji constantly has to fight to prevent Luffy from raiding all of the food they have.

Like, I would 100% believe Luffy would use any Gear to try and get past Sanji and get midnight snacks. The fact that the other strawhats don't starve is purely because of Sanji's willpower.

Sanji has to be strong in the same way a dog owner has to be strong enough to pry oreos out of their pet's mouth.

Pain -- sometime between 25 ATC and 29 ATC -- Bit of a kinky piece wherein Theron has his old scars replaced by Eva. This is Explicit for sexual activity, biting, bruising, and blood.

Shadow -- the legend of the Voidhound, from a child's perspective.

Partners -- 21 ATC -- A Theron/Eva heist fic, with their radio comms as cover

Reward -- 40 ATC -- Dr. Oggurobb finally retires... or so he thinks, thanks to Bowdaar.

Sacrifice -- 29 ATC (between patches 7.2 and 7.3) -- Theron sacrifices one of the few things to survive from his childhood. Eva is a pregnant person in this fic, so CW for that.

Dance - Eva dances with Jace Malcom. This is a continuation of an eventual post-Nathema fic about a party.

Apology -- 28 ATC (Between Elom and 7.3) -- Theron liberates Arcann from his job at a fast food join in Dromund Kaas by punching him in the face. No, I will not elaborate (I will totally elaborate).

Kiss -- 21 ATC -- Theron thinks about the his views on good morning kisses in the early days after Eva's return.

Rain -- 21 ATC -- Theron finds Eva out in the rain after Koth is worried about her. It's not as bad as it looks.

Protect -- 14 ATC -- Dr. Oggurobb meets the Voidhound on Makeb.

Shy -- 13 ATC -- Cole Cantarus becomes friends with benefits with Eva (she pays at the bar).

Fresh -- anytime after 23 ATC -- C2-N2 tries to start spring cleaning on Virtue's Thief. "Tries" is the operative word here.

It feels like she's been gone for eons. 

Calantha slides the door shut behind her. It's late, but she doesn't care. She needs to see him. To tell him she's home. To make sure he's all right. 

Hien turns from the window, surprised at the sound of her footsteps. He stops. His face turns from curiosity, to surprise, to relief and joy in a moment. 

He leaps towards her. She flings her arms around him, clutching his belt as she pulls him in. He whispers her name as he cups her face. His lips meet hers in a familiar rush. 

She catches his kisses with her own. Each touch begins to erase the thoughts of long months without him, the worries for his safety in the back of her mind, the fear that she might never return. She finds herself smiling against his lips. Her arms wind tighter around his waist. 

He leans his forehead against her cheek and clutches her close, as if she might vanish in a moment.

"You’re here." Hien whispers against her neck. "Thank the Kami." He sounds as if he can’t believe it.  

"I did promise you I'd return in one piece," she murmurs. "Remember?"

“That was before I knew of your last destination." He laughs, and pauses. "And the many wounds you took." 

He looks up at her. "Are you well?"

Her heart aches at the question. It's too much to answer. All that matters is being here, with him. She rests her forehead against his. "Well enough, now. This is all I need." 

Calantha smiles as he leans up to kiss her again. Outside, the moon crosses the heavens and crickets sing in the trees. A long lost warmth glows in her chest. She’s home.

It’s funny how I received two similar music asks in a row, but because this one is actually a different question on the topic, I can answer this one separately!

However, since even the last music post had me in agony (/j), I don’t think I’m going to go through every single character’s individual favourite song and artist, and moreso just their music taste (especially since some characters would canonically listen to music from cultures or genres I don’t listen to or know much about myself).

DR96

Hayasaka - most people would say classical, but my big brain (/lh) has bestowed the headcanon ever: vocaloid. I think it would be funny if this man had a secret love for the music, walking to work listening to the most depressing or cutesy song known to Earth. His favourite producer would probably be wowaka (rip) or 40mp.

Kurumada - that kind of grunge, heavy beat, but sort of depressing music? Not trap per say, but like r&b and rap. Or whatever is playing at the gym at the time, sometimes a song will get added to his workout playlist if it sounds good enough.

Mai - she’s that kind of pop girl, but also likes some more sombre songs here and there. Definitely indulges in songs with playful and or sensual lyrics.

Walter - (this is where my disclosure starts to show) Like classic, 50-80s songs. Jazz and blues, or something he can sing along to on the radio.

Jesse - hip-hop, trap, some heavy metal, rock, techno and house music. Anything with a stanky-ass beat (/lh) and Jesse will probably listen to it.

Saiki - I’ve given him the headcanon that he listens to hyperpop, speedcore and breakcore. I got the idea from another tumblr post that said he’d use loud, scratchy music to try and block out the thoughts of other people. It’s implied that’s what he was listening to during chapter 3 as well!

Kaidou - what we all listened to when we were 13 and wanted to be edgy. Also fandom songs (I know this isn’t nationally accurate unless there are hardcore jp fandom song fans lol), and video game OSTs that make him feel powerful.

Retsuko - heavy metal, obviously. But, I think she also likes pop and idol music, considering her history with that, hehe

Natsuki - vocaloid hardcore to the max (some favourite producers be like deco*27 and syudou). Also J-pop/idol music (and some video game OSTs).

Yuri - now I think she would like some classical music, considering her whole elegant aesthetic. I think she’d personally like piano and violin arrangements though, since they are relaxing to listen to while reading. I think she would be convinced to listen to some J-pop after Natsuki begs encourages her.

Hiroshi - he would be a classical guy too, but he would also enjoy some video game OSTs (since he’s kind of a certified gamer if you consider the novels and that chibi anime thingy).

Brian - anything past 1996 would be periodically inaccurate, but I feel like he’s the type of guy who’d try to listen to anything if someone recommended it to him. I think he’d enjoy new-age, or something relaxing on par with the vibes of his game’s OST (synth… rock? I’m not a genres expert).

Bojack - it’s either something really depressing or really sexual and there is just that scale and nothing else

Latte - canonically, folk and symphony since I think that’s the sort of music Parfaedia has. Although, she’d also listen to jazz and dance (she that type of teacher to play music in class all the students try to grin and bare because no one listens to it anymore /lh)

L - whatever music is scientifically proven to enhance focus. Classical? Some jazz? I feel like L likes to work in silence, but with music on the bare occasion.

Ena - something that we would not be able to comprehend if we heard it. Lyrics that sound like 14 different languages all mashed up together. Instruments that shouldn’t exist. Voices that shouldn’t exist. The same song that runs for 4 minutes on the first play, 15 seconds on the second, and 2 hours on the third. Or just webcore/weirdcore instrumental music lmao

Luigi - calm jazz and swing, I also think he be into acoustic arrangements.

Mario - I think he’d listen to energetic music to get himself pumped up. But also enjoys the folk music of the mushroom kingdom.

Peter - I would say 50-90s songs, ranging from classic hits to goofy ass songs (like the Rock Lobster bit)

Brian - I think he’s into ska, jazz, and blues. Also very pretentious with his music taste lol

Miku - Pop, dance, techno and electronica are her mains, but she can dabble into any genre. Likes to support and listen to her other fellow voice synth’s music.

Teto - rock, but also some dance/pop. Secretly enjoys listening to Miku’s songs (as long as she’s not around)

Nagito - nicher artists of alt and synth. I don’t think he’d be into mainstream music. Also depressing lyrics are his go-to lol

Sans - ironically, the stankiest beat you’ve ever heard and penis music (rubber band). Unironically, some smooth tunes akin to Nastablook’s music taste.

Parappa - rap, hip-hop, r&b and dance. Could unironically make a great rap over the instrumentals of ‘A Pimp Named Slickback’.

Fluttershy - Equestria folk music, acapella and that musical-type genre they have in the show’s music.

Ayano - whatever her Senpai is listening to. So, I would assume the latest trending J-pop mostly.

Ashley - rock and alt. Emo type beat. Mainly female vocals. One or two heavy metal songs. Any other warioware cast member will die upon listening to any of it lol

2D - his favourite band is canonically The Human League, so other new wave and synth-pop stuff too.

Mr. Krabs - sea shanties, unironically. He probably sang a lot of them while on the navy.

Dedede - (I have no Kirby lore but I must scream) I feel like he’d play classical music in his castle to give off those regal king vibes. But he’d also enjoy energetic music like his boss battle themes.

The Conductor - western and western movie soundtracks. Also some smooth jazz and soul. I like to think he likes the sounds of the piano the most, from the ‘heart to heart’ OST

The main timeline consists of a trilogy. The Gift-Knight's Quest happens, then The Crown Princess' Voyage, then The masked Queen's Lament. The standalone prequel Alathea: Goddess and Empress fits neatly into the beginning of The Crown Princess' Voyage in story chronology. Circa 100 years prior to The Gift-Knight's Quest, we find the last three releases: Prince Ewald the Brave occurs at the same time as The Fate of Lenn so they could be read in either order, but the last book The Redemption of Jarek branches off from The Fate of Lenn so it is better read after that. The reading order is merely a suggestion from the author. Numbers show the release order of books, while arrows show suggested reading order in this chart.
