The plane left the tarmac almost 7 hours ago, just a few short hours left until it landed in Singapore. The plane’s shifty Wi-Fi allowing you to watch the current race going on in the Singapore streets, your boyfriend maintaining a good speed, and a good position throughout most of the race.

Your stomach dropped immediately when the commentator’s voices picked up, George’s name dropping from their lips as the cameramen panned to his car.

The inner turmoil started the moment you watched the replay of the Mercedes hit the wall during the final lap. You, alongside every other person watching the race, were not expecting such a dramatic end to an even more dramatic race.

It had been an incredible day before this, your own P2 finish still pushing high levels of joy through your body. It had been an exhilarating race, after qualifying in P6 just the day before, you were able to jump up 4 positions, holding everyone off behind you as you maintained your speed and composure to finish the race in your highest finish this season.

You were almost immediately carted off to the airport once all your media responsibilities were completed. You had booked a flight to Singapore that would get you there just a few hours after George’s own race was over, allowing you to surprise him after weeks of being apart.

What you didn’t expect was the internal dread that was currently encompassing your body, unsure of how George would react when you arrived at his hotel door after how his race just ended. He would be happy to see you, regardless, but would he be upset at you for coming after the end of your own successful race? Would he want to be alone? Would you end up having to spend the night in Pierre’s room, leaving George to wallow in his own self-pity?

It was all you could think of as the map showed the flight radar on the screen in front of you, the estimated time of arrival dwindling down the closer you got.

You had texted George the moment you saw his crash.

Are you okay???

That looked bad

I saw the video of you walking away, you looked like you were in pain… I’m so sorry mon amour :(

You drove an amazing race… I’m so proud of you

If you want to talk you know you can call me, I love you :(

He had let you know he was a little sore and would probably be back to the hotel late so he likely wouldn’t be calling you tonight. It’s what prompted you to call Pierre the moment you were off the plane, the phone ringing a few times before he picked up.

“Incredible race! I watched a bit of it before we had to get in our cars, you kicked ass. Jumped up 4 places and everything, let’s goooo,” he trailed off the end with a small ‘woot’ of celebration, his gigantic smile prevalent even through the phone.

“Thanks Pear, but I wasn’t calling about the race. My flight just got into Singapore; do you think someone from your team could come pick me up? Or like anyone? George doesn’t know I’m here… it was supposed to be a nice surprise.”

The sigh was loud through the phone, Pierre agreeing to have someone from Alpine come to the airport.

“You should know… George is devastated. Charles says he was crying his eyes out when he saw him walk by, said it looked like he was super distraught. I don’t know how happy or excited he is going to be about your race today.”

The tears sprouted to your eyes immediately, you had already seen on social media that George may have been seen crying, but to hear it directly from someone who had seen him… the sadness wreaked through your body.

“I don’t care about my own race, right now. I’m happy enough for myself, he needs someone to be there for him.”

It didn’t take long for someone from Alpine to pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. You had bothered one of the men from George’s PR team earlier in the day to text you what room number and hotel he was staying at, promising him it was all for a surprise that wouldn’t cause any issues for George or the team.

Your knuckles rapped against the door in front of you, sounds from inside the room halting the noise encompassed the air. You couldn’t tell if he was coming to the door or not, no noise now coming from the room. Just as you were about to knock again, the door swung open to reveal your boyfriend.

His red-rimmed and puffy eyes were the first thing you noticed, a clear indicator that he had been crying. The small smile that grew on his face was real, a tiny bit of happiness shining in his eyes as he took in who was in front of him.

“Oh, Georgie…”

You dropped your bag to the floor, pushing your body into his. His arms wrapped around your frame, his head pressing into the junction where your neck and shoulder met, your own arms wrapping around his taller frame. You played with the hair at the nape of his neck, holding him as tight as you could, allowing him to push any emotions he was currently feeling into the hug.

“What are you doing here?” He murmured into your ear, his arms tightening around your body as if he was trying to fuse the both of you together.

Shrugging in his arms, you continued to hold his frame tightly in your own. “Thought it would be a nice surprise, was going to fly with you to Japan after and spend some time with you. Haven’t seen you in a while, I guess.”

George pressed a gentle kiss to the top of your head before pulling away, a sad smile falling on his lips. “You drove an incredible race today, my love. I’m so proud of you.”

You couldn’t help the pull at your heartstrings as he praised you for your own race, even after the devastating end to his own. It was obvious he was trying to keep the sadness at bay, to not ruin your own accomplishments.

“Thank you, mon amour. I don’t want to talk about my race, though.”

George grabbed your bag as he gestured for you to walk into the room, allowing the hotel door to slam behind you as he placed the luggage next to his own. “I don’t really want to talk about my own race, either. I’d much rather talk about yours.”

He pulled you onto the king-sized bed, immediately wrapping his body around your own as you snuggled into his chest. You could feel his heartbeat against your ear, his fingers rubbing soothing circles on the indent of your spine through your shirt.

“I feel like such an idiot. I’m not a rookie, I shouldn’t be making those kinds of mistakes, I lost complete control of my car at the worst possible time and cost myself one of the best finishes this season. It’s not fair,” he choked the words out, his nose pressing into your hair as he took a deep breath, trying to keep the inevitable tears at bay.

“Georgie… it happens, mistakes happen. It sucks, don’t get me wrong, but we all make mistakes. Do you know how many fuckups I’ve had this season? Don’t get me started on how many Pierre’s had, it doesn’t make you rookie-caliber to mess up one race. You’ll come back stronger from this; I swear.”

You could feel the small shrug of his shoulders as he pulled your body closer to his own, a light press of his lips to the crown of your head the only indication that he heard you.

“I can’t believe you got P2. I was trying to watch it while we were getting ready, someone said you jumped up 4 places huh?”

You nodded your head, a bashful smile pulling onto your lips, “It wasn’t that impressive, I’ve done it before.”

George nudged your side, prompting you to look up at him, a small smile edging onto the Brit’s lips, “That was your highest finish of the season though, darling. I’d say that’s pretty impressive, no?”

“I don’t want to overshadow how you’re feeling to be happy about my own race, mon amour. That’s not fair to you.”

Nudging you again, you felt his fingers dig into your ribs lightly, an indication he was telling you to stop talking. “You’re not overshadowing how I feel, I’m devastated, and I’m pissed at myself for how my race finished. It doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to be happy for you, to feel some type of joy over the fact my best friend just finished P2.”

Leaning up, you pressed your lips to his gently, a ‘thank you’ imbedded in the way your lips moulded together. George pulled you closer, pulling back to rest his head against your own once again.

“At least my crash damage numbers aren’t as high as your brothers. Did you see he finally hit the millions a few days ago? Knew he’d beat me there.”

“Oh my god, George. Not everything has to be a competition between you and my brother.”

Season 7 Press Article Buddie Analysis

Okay I don't usually write meta/spec on press runs/articles but I found these super fascinating today, especially in comparison to how the showrunners (including Tim himself) and the actors have spoken about their arcs in the past.

First I want to say that in these interviews the goal is never actually to give the audience any important information but rather to tease, and purposely be as vague as possible. So most of what they're saying will likely have double meanings and all of them are being extremely careful with the words they choose to say. Now with that out of the way in the first EW article (linked here), I found several things extremely interesting.

Calling Marisol Eddie's "Hardware store flirtation". It's so funny to me, for one, but it's also interesting that that's all she's reduced to. A flirtation. I know that was really all they were in the last season, but we know Marisol's involved (likely minorly) in at least 2 episodes out of the first 5. Natalia on the other hand is for the most part understood to not be coming back (I would honestly be surprised given the actress is in NYC). But what's even more interesting is that Marisol is not mentioned anywhere else in either of these articles, meanwhile Oliver WAS asked about Natalia. So, I want people to keep in mind that in whatever way Marisol IS a part of this season, I SEVERELY doubt she's making it past the finale.

2. This answer about Natalia is your typical non-answer but to me, it's basically a confirmation she isn't coming back, which lends a tad bit more credibility to Tommy potentially stepping in as a LI for Buck (fingers crossed).

3. Buck is apparently called in to help talk to Christopher about dating women. Do I even really have to talk about how weird this sounds? Eddie had a whole WIFE? He dated Ana for many many months. He's currently dating hardware store flirtation Marisol right now. And yet, Ryan is claiming that Eddie feels like he doesn't know how to talk to his son about women? Enough so that he calls Buck to help? Talking to your kid about dating is a new avenue yes, but why are we acting like Eddie has never been with a woman before? Like I know last season in particular emphasized that Eddie isn't the best when it comes to dating but like ??? I swear to GOD y'all it's giving such severe compulsory heterosexuality. Eddie, my man, I hope this is indicative of where your story is going this season because it's been heading this way for many many many years. Separately, I also find the lack of mention of Shannon very interesting as well.

4. Which brings me to this part. The whole family dynamic aside...Buck's romantic relationships have been severely questionable at best the entire show. Before Abby, it's canon that all Buck did was sleep around a lot, which doesn't seem like something you wanna tell a young teen dating for the first time. So what's he gonna talk about? How women flee him? As I saw someone else say on the timeline "are the successful relationships in the room with us"? This is especially odd if the spec is true and he and Natalia broke up off-screen prior to the start of the season. Eddie, you just saw Buck have yet another failed relationship with woman #4 and your thought is that HE'S the one best suited to talk to your son? These two men are so queer and so dumb, but their hearts are in the right place.

Okay, moving on to EW article #2 linked here. Here I'm shifting a little bit more to Tim Minear, and what he's said before in the past as showrunner about Buck, Eddie, the buddifer dynamic and the buddie ship.

I have a love-hate relationship with Tim. On one hand, I think he's a far better showrunner than Kristen (for OG 911, 911 Lonestar does and always will suck ass). But on the other hand, I remember some of the things he said back when season 2 was airing. It's part of the reason why I can't take things like "he's so cute. he gets that a lot" or "does this boycrush on eddie mean you're over abby" or "you two have an adorable son" or any Big Buddie fanservice line in season 2 seriously or as any definitive proof of anything. Tim has openly admitted most of those were in season 2 to throw shippers a bone. Not to be taken seriously. And that didn't sit right with me. Very obviously, there was a shift in season 3 and no longer was buddie and shippers the butt of the joke. Season 3 is when I genuinely think the writers and Tim shifted from "haha this is funny" to "oh wait, maybe there IS something here" and obviously The Powers That Be (Fox) had some control over whether or not that happened and is honestly why I think it didn't happen in season 5 or 6 where it realistically could've fit very well after s4.

So firstly, please take everything I say with a grain of salt because Tim is a Known Liar and Word Twister and is very VERY good at saying a lot while absolutely saying nothing at all.

5. So...I find what he says in this article interesting because it's not in the first article. First, his word choice is very interesting. Using both "friendship" and "coupling" in the same sentence, which have two different connotations. Secondly, he says that "at their core" their relationship is about their friendship. When something is the core of something else, that doesn't mean that's all there is. The core may be the essence, or the foundation, or the glue of something. But it is something that is BUILT UPON, something that extends past the core. To me, it means that while the core of buddie's relationship is their friendship, their relationship encompasses much more than that. It's like those successful old married couples who say the key to being married happily for 50+ years is that "we're still best friends" or that "the key to a successful romantic relationship is having that foundation of strong friendship" etc. Now, I'm not SAYING this means canon buddie, but I just find it interesting that this is how Tim chose to describe them this time around. To me, that says Tim is very much aware that there's far more to be explored in their relationship than just their friendship. Whether that means far more buddifer family arcs, or an actual real exploration of Buck and Eddie as a romantic couple, I'm very excited to see where it goes.

Damn I’ve been seeing a good bit of criticism about the pjo show and while everyone can have their opinions on it, so can I. So. (Lemme warn yall this is gonna be a long one)

I’ve seen a lot about how things are being figured out too easily in the show and it’s taking the mystery out of the scenes from the book (i.e. the lotus casino, “aunty em” being Medusa, etc). What this boils down to (to me at least) is that people think the trio is.. too smart??

I get where they’re coming from but if anything? I think that makes everything in the show better compared to the books for a few reasons:

they can focus more on keeping season 1 character-centric and story-driven instead of constantly about action (which sets a lot up for the next 4 seasons when they can dive into all the action because the characters and their motivations/personalities have already been fleshed out and established)

(and much more importantly) the trio is supposed to be smart and somewhat prepared for this quest

Like i get the whole “they’re 12 year old kids” argument but we’re forgetting that they’re not regular kids. Because they do suck at regular people stuff: Percy sucks at driving (ik he’s a kid still), they have a hard time communicating with each other, their relationships are rocky as hell for a while, they don’t do well with listening to or respecting authority figures.

But when it comes to the demigod stuff? There’s a reason they’re all so good at it. For one, it’s explained that the same ADHD and dyslexia that makes their regular lives so difficult, makes it easier to function in the mythic world. And when it comes to each character, lemme go through them one by one.

Annabeth: the literal daughter of the goddess of wisdom and strategy. the girl who learned on her own how to survive using nothing but her quick thinking and wits at 7 years old before being picked up by Luke and Thalia. the girl who spent 5 years training and learning everything she could in hopes of getting a quest to prove herself. and then on top of that, that pride she’s got just pushes her even more to be the smartest and bravest version of herself.

Grover: the satyr whose literal job description is to be a protector of demigods, which means he’s been trained just as much, if not more than annabeth and taught everything he needs to know to shield these demigods while they’re in the real world. He’s smart, adaptable, strong, and has the added advantage of increased senses and a connection to nature and animals that comes in handy.

Percy: whose mother spent his entire life preparing him for this life, knowing one day he was gonna have to do all of this himself. She told him all the stories. She knew as a son of Poseidon, he was gonna have to face all kinds of gods and dangers. And he does constantly use what he’s been taught to get him through whatever he faces. The only reason he seems inexperienced is because he is. He’s only been a demigod for a week at this point. But both Grover and annabeths experience more than make up for this. Because they’re a team and they travel and fight together as one.

They may be 12 year old kids, but they’re not regular people like the rest of us. They’re demigods. And they might still have a lot to learn, but they’re still demigods. They have training! They have amazing instincts! They know the history! The stories!! The Greek tragedies!!! They learned them so that they don’t repeat the same mistakes their ancestors made, and they used that to their advantage at every stage of their quest so far.

So yeah, I’m glad they’re smart enough to know when they’re about to walk into a trap. And I’d hope to god they use these advantages at their disposal, because nothing else they face is gonna be easy regardless. They have no choice but to be ready, it’s literally life or death.

At the end of the day, a complete copy of the book would be so boring as a show. We already read the books. We know what happens. So the changes they’ve made so far have really just been for the better. I love watching smart protagonists that don’t make me yell at the tv when they miss the glaringly obvious!!

a comprehensive list of all the Implications (TM) of the WishVerse that were never explored. enjoy.

so in case you forgot: buffy never came to sunnydale in season 1. the master took over sunnydale and made xander and willow his deranged vampire sidekicks. buffy fights the master and her, cordelia, angel, willow and xander all die. almost all these points are going off the branching timeline where giles didn’t destroy anya’s pendant and the wishverse kept going.

larry is a “white hat” working with giles, oz and nancy. he has dyed black hair. I think it’s safe to assume that larry is out in this universe, and apocalypse or no apocalypse I love the idea of these three being a found family friend group just like buffy and the scoobies. also love the idea that oz and larry were in love but that’s just because I am insane lmao. anyway larry is out as gay and friends with oz with surrogate father figure giles… yeah that just makes me happy. I would love to see his season 1-3 growth in coming out and becoming a better person / not a bully similar to cordy. and shittily dying his hair black.

were spike and dru there during the season 2 period? did the master kill them? did the white hats kill them? did they leave? WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM????

the mayor, adam, glory and the first would likely still happen on top of all the vampire apocalypse stuff. the trio could be dead or vampires and dark willow obviously would not be able to happen. does giles fight these threats, collecting various child fighters over the years?? no idea. do they succeed?? no idea.

dawn doesn’t exist because buffy is dead. I wonder who the key would have taken the form of, perhaps she would be faith’s sister…???

what’s the status of jenny calendar?? joyce?? tara?? amy?? no one knows!! I just hope they didn’t meet too grisly of ends. the idea of leather-clad apocalypse vampire versions of all these badass women intrigues me though…

did anya remain a demon?? destroying her necklace would reset the timeline back to normal, so I guess she must have done. my anyiles heart says giles thought “I could fix her” and fell in love with a vengeance demon who doomed reality but that might just be wishful thinking (no pun intended).

angel investigations simply doesn’t exist. angel and cordy are both dead.

connor would not exist because darla would not be brought back (I wonder if jasmine would find some other way to bring about her birth??)

lindsey would have both hands intact and he and lilah would likely stay at wolfram and hart, and neither would die unless they were caught in the crossfire of vampire apocalypse stuff.

gunn would stick with his crew in LA and would likely fight the master at one point, not to mention even more vampires than usual, and without superpowers would likely die eventually.

angel investigations would never run wolfram and hart, meaning illyria would have to find a different host body. if it was lindsey or lilah that would be awesome.

pylea would stay the same and suck forever because cordy would never go there.

lorne is flourishing and loving life running caritos. he’s probably better off for it tbh. the wishverse says gay rights!!!!

in terms of wesley, faith and doyle, I recommend this amazing fic. it really speaks for itself, it’s awesome!!

its unclear as to who would be called after buffy. is it a person to person thing or simply a timing thing?? would it be kendra, faith, or someone else entirely? as I said this is explored in the fic I linked, but still interesting to discuss.

season 7 would be very different. we don’t know what slayer is currently around and we don’t know if that would change the first’s plan or the ending with all the potentials becoming slayers. no idea. kennedy would not be important thank god.

OK SO I'VE WATCHED EPISODES 7 AND 8 OF SEASON 2 OF TOTAL DRAMA 2023

SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT AS ALWAYS!!!

So we got our first big gen 1 cameo! That and official canonisation of Owen's win! It was one of the season wins that had a clear better winner but a confirmation is nice! I feel like it fucks the timeline up since they just. reused Owen's design from TDI again. Im not looking into it

The challenges were really fun! I liked how the cooking challenge wasn't all athletisism, and while they've already done a human pinball challenge back in WT, this one was different enough that i didn't care all that much.

I think Damien is the most 6/10 contestant so far? Like he's nice and stuff but he doesn't grab me. Maybe the immunity idol thing can make him more interesting to me? Hope they do something with that! Oh, and Wayne or Raj are SOOOO getting the boot soon. They don't have much to do outside of comic relief and they're not invested in the current drama. Personally i'd prefer if Wayne got the boot over Raj? That or they don't get booted one episode after another. I want interesting conflict damnit!

the plotline was boring as hell and Zee getting axed because of it SUCKS. Caleb would've gotten the boot if he didn't have plot armor. Like give him immunity if you wanna kick Zee out so bad!!!!

transitionning to the eliminations, Ripaxel getting double elim because "haha gross ass couple" was predictable. I litterally called it twice in a row, they were gonna get eliminated for it and they did! I do think they were great and Ripaxel has legit won me over, sorry, i love Ripper being a gross idiot and Axel liking him for it. They were funny.

1. Three ships: Rylan my beloved they do no wrong. theyre the epitome of awkward bashful and honest gay summer teen romance with the perfect contrasting note of horrific life threatening monsters which is unsurpassable genre peak. and yeah ngl its pretty rare that i get behind a ship but two others i can think of are amity/luz from the owl house (but mostly in season 1 because they do cute anxious crushing stuff and after that they just kind of turn into supportive gf A and supportive gf B), and legosi/louis from beastars because how do you just gloss over neurotic homophobe slut ptsd theatre twink x weird brooding puritan loser freudian pervert and the fact that it does WORK too like hello

2. First ever ship: i wanna say gregg and angus from night in the woods?? i remember i was in that weird sexual orientation puberty where you literally know you're gay but it's not like a consciously meaningful part of your identity so i remember seeing them and thinking wow that's cool that they're boyfriends i guess idk. also i'm inexorably drawn to their existence for some reason and my lockscreen is them cuddling with the lazy morning light peeking through the curtains

3. Last song: My Kink is Karma - Chappell Roan, im a sucker for moody electronic pop and that album DELIVERS

4. Last film: i watched the first three movies in a pirates of the caribbean marathon with some friends which ngl after the first one feels like trying to suck sugar water out of a sock 😶 the last film i personally chose to watch was the 1976 Carrie! it was nice being able to watch it and appreciate it as an adult with an education and not a teen recluse going "yeah carrie you show those villain highschoolers what's what"

5. Currently (re)reading: Shakespeare's Twelfth Night! i have my old copy from highschool open next to me and the 2012 shakespeare's globe production up and i just sit and sift between watching and reading and analysing it, just like when i first learned it in class. i'm not really sure why i wanted to reread it again in the first place, but i find it kind of soothing to read older texts where the language and culture's a little ways off from its modern successors. i find it calming to kind of pull those stories back in a way we can understand with its old contexts and writing, and see more and more of that timeless human experience shine through. sudoku for english nerds i guess LOL

6. Currently watching: my watcher's stamina has actually gotten so shit im ngl like i actually haven't watched a show in months 😭😭😭 the last show i watched was bluey (which was pretty good! (and pretty indicative of the kind of attention span ive got these days 😂👌))

7. Currently consuming: this horrible like nutraloaf nightmare bowl i made because my appetite was really poor today and at 5 pm or so i was like ugh well id better eat something quick and dense if im not gonna have a proper meal so i insulted God and put together reheated smashed potato (in the microwave so they lost all their crunch and flavour) + dried roasted edamame beans + peanut butter + regular butter + cheddar + yoghurt + whole salted almonds in a bowl and had a slice of walnut fig cake as a side. that thing needed a censor bar like i was in the trenches trying to get that down im ngl. eating that meal took more energy out of me than what it gave back like i knew i made something unholy and then immediately paid for it like it was so frankenstein and his monster right there on that kitchen counter

8. Currently craving: literally anything after that like god damn 😭😭😭😭😭 otherwise ive been hankering for a good chana masala and naan combo cus there's literally never a day where i'll turn south asian cuisine down like aw man i shouldve just gone out and got some of that to eat today ugh god damn it

And of course the one scene that involves the Velarayion's is when Daemon the crazy white guy inbred supremacist went and killed the innocent completely in the right random brother of Corlys that spoke the truth about Rhaenyra and her kids despite the fact that every normal ruler would have them killed too,all so the mainstream audience can yell afoul about racism and white privilege and crazy Targaryens and Daemon the psycho?They literally recreated Ned's execution here but with racial implication,with Daemon being Joffrey and the executioner here and this is somehow respectful and we'll handled to anyone?

Not saying that black actors can't be villians or be killed by white villians but I am just saying that an obvious social justice racial implication was tried here.

Everyone here comes across as one dimensional and bland expect Daemon and they keep giving the Greens more and more poor baby traits but it clashes so badly with their established characters that it gives a whiplash?

I like Matt Smith in every wig except for the ones starting from episode 8. the short one was my favorite, with the episode 3 one my second favorite.

Childhood Helaena's wig w/o braids was atrocious.

I imagined Rhaenyra's hair to mostly be loose before marriage and both loose, up, and in updos after marriage. Lucrezia from the Borgias is a great reference, loved her hairstyles. Her style in general, female aristocratic Italian Renaissance style in general really. Yes, Rhaenyra would be decked out like her.

Yes, she inherited black/dark brown hair from her Baratheon mother, Jocelyn. The daughter of Alyssa Velaryon (Jaehaerys I's mother) and Rogar Baratheon. As she gets older, Rhaenys gets white strips in her dark hair.

This is in canon as well, that all of Cersei's kids are blond, which later inspires Ned to look through the Baratheon family notes. He finds out that Baratheons, even when having bastards with Lannisters, have dark-haired scions. So in the case of the Baratheons, the probability that the kid of a Baratheon and any other house will turn out to have dark hair is very high. High enough that it's justifiably expected.

In the original lore, no the Velaryons had pale skin. I conclude so because Westerosi makes it a point to note that the person they are looking at is dark-skinned (Daella's, Saera, and Cersei's reactions to Summer Islanders), and all the descriptions we have of Corlys, any Velaryon, and Laena and Laenor never describe skin color. Europeans and white people and their fictional analouges tend to not mention skin color in anything written about people when their skin is as pale as theirs.

A problem with making it a point of "making it obvious that they are bastards" through skin color and race is that in the original lore, the boys' dark hair could have been argued in-world as coming from Laenor through Rhaenys and that Baratheon dark-hair gene. (I don't believe these boys came from Laenor because that guy was very unwilling to have sex with a woman and barely spent time with Rhaenyra before their sons were threatened).

There was some sort of tension with how one can detect adultery, adultery, and parentage in the character's environment. Once you realized this one element of the hair is enough to throw these blood purist aristocrats who wish to usurp Rhaenyra to take advantage of her socially-demonized sexual activities for their own political goals. Once again, they had no way of telling the parentage, and to bring up that the boys might have inherited Rhaenys' hair would throw off doubters not for "truth's" sake (at least about parentage), but to protect those boys and Rhaenyra from ridiculous blood purism, misogyny, and greed. It's meant to signal to the audience this game of thrones/royals, that such things as what parentage and fidelity mean is really just too slippery and unreal themselves, subject to human will and cleverness.

However, the show making the Velaryons black primarily bc the writers and producers saw these actors as useful to just show how those boys are bastards reinforces the blood purity. We're just superficially using race and colorism to reinforce how Rhaenyra slept with someone outside of marriage and that's all, folks. She's more open to condemnation instead of us looking critically at the game being played. Why is it so important to make it "obvious", what point are the writer and producers making here? Why should we care that it's "obvious"? If you read the original lore well and consider who these people are, if you have even basic critical thinking skills, it's clear that these aren't Laenor's kids.

That was never the issue. The issue was that Rhaenyra's castigated and humiliated for finding sexual autonomy, safety, and intimacy when she was forced to marry a gay man for her father and Corlys' political goals and had to have kids or risk losing her position as heir and future Queen--since no one wants either a barren woman nor a ruler who can't produce heirs.

This story is about how a woman was destroyed, not how she was worth destroying!

The other thing is that it is disparaging to the black actors and Velaryons. The actors are basically used primarily as tools to criticize and demean one white women's adultery. It doesn't take their acting chops into consideration, and their race, rather than being about representation in fantasy media, is the primary casting requirement simply to again highlight other white actors and their character's conflicts.

Again, this is if that was the producer's primary reason for casting black people to play just the Velaryons. But there is heavy misogynoir, espe with Laena Velaryon dying a gruesome death that realistically no one would want or seek unless they were severely mentally unstable. And yes, in canon, she dies surrounded by family, including Rhaenyra. She tried to go to Vhagar, but to fly one last time with her, not to get flamed out of existence. Laena's death was unnecessarily more brutal than it was. There is also a known link to the practice of self-immolation being gendered, as some cultures have widows burn themselves after their husbands die, which implies that she has no purpose without him alive.

Also, it's not fair we didn't get to see her claim/ride Vhagar independently and thus be a dragonrider apart from any shared scene with Daemon. finally, we don't see how she processed being arranged to marry what looked like a 50-yr old man at 12.

Corlys in the book was very eager to have a Velaryon marry into the Targ house to have grandkids/great-grandkids who are Velaryon for the prestige and influence. That was just accurate. As for Otto and Viserys's reactions to Corlys, I saw those scenes of them dismissing Corlys as negative on their part, not Corlys. I was on Corlys' side. continuously pushing him off regarding other stuff, like the St But they could have shown the Velaryons in their environment, amongst themselves, and how they interact, their dynamic as a family apart from the Targs. Corlys didn't need to be this simple guy that maester's notes couldn't expound on due to time difference and distance. Also, lack of care or imagination on the part of the writers.

Laenor was never a love interest precisely because he was gay. And he already had a lover in Joffrey. He filled a role that both acknowledged in their agreement, and for his show! witlessness, yes it's annoying considering that in the canon he stayed with her more often once their son Luke and the tensions got higher b/t Alicent and Rhaenyra:

I don't think Laenor was infertile so much as he really couldn't bring himself to stay and commit to the sex repeatedly to inseminate Rhaenyra. I imagine they tried twice or three times and that's all Laenor could handle. And it's actually not a predictable or controlled thing, insemination. Sometimes it takes 5 tries for conception, sometimes once.

Never heard of this thought. I think the audience is just upset that a black man got got by a white man, but considering how the Velaryons are not black in canon and this is about a class dispute rather than a racial one, I think people should throw this idea out. Daemon kills Vaemond in the book, and by Rhaenyra's express order, too. It wasn't a race thing.

Aemond wasn't saying he would "steal" Aegon's soon-to-be sister-wife, quite the opposite. He meant that if Alicent allowed it and if it was useful for their Ussurp-Rhaenyra cause (doing his "duty"), then he's gladly legally married Helaena. To castigate Aegon for not being willing. Aemond is very unserious, though, for putting it out there that he'd love to be the king over Aegon and not keeping that shit to himself, both in book or show.

This made me laugh. Yes, there is a discrepancy, huh, bt how Viserys regards his brother and vice versa?

Viserys seems to want to over-placate and make the more powerful/least under his control (or so he thinks) person be willing to do his bidding after the example of the conciliatory Jaehaerys I. Problem is that Viserys' position and circumstances are different enough from Jaehaerys' that he needed to apply his might more.

2. When Ivy mentioned they already did an “ex in the villa” last season I died. Whoever wrote these first few episodes definitely had some funny “we know last season sucked” moments💀

When she woke up a couple of hours later, Lucía felt like a new person. Her body still felt weak, but most of the symptoms were gone.

She was no longer feeling hot because of the high temperature, but because of Rúben's body next to hers. He had also fallen asleep, but not before putting his arms around her to hug her tightly. She tried to get up without waking him up but the moment she moved, his eyes opened.

"Are you ok?"

"I am, yes. A lot better".

She tried to get up now, but he stopped her. "Don't move. I'll bring you whatever you need".

"It's ok. I can get up. I don't feel dizzy anymore and it'll be good to move a bit after spending the day laying down", she said, stretching.

"I'm serious. Stay here. Are you hungry? Thirsty?"

"Rúben", she said, trying not to laugh. "I need to pee. You can't help me with that".

"I can take you to the bathroom…"

"Oh my God, stop it!", she told him, laughing at how serious he actually was.

She could notice his eyes following her while she walked to the bathroom. And when she got out, he was still sitting in her bed staring at her.

"See? All good!"

"You almost fainted in front of me a couple of hours ago. Don't judge me for worrying".

"Yeah, well, migraines suck".

"I've never had one".

She frowned at him. "I hate you".

And that, finally, made him laugh.

"Rob brought me food, you can have some if you want".

"Rob?"

"A colleague from work", and then she realised what time it was. "Shit! I missed the match! What happened?"

"3-1 win for United".

"What?", she was shocked by that score. Arsenal had not lost a match this season. In fact, they had won all of them. "Who scored?"

"Ummm, two from Rashford and the other goal was scored by the new guy".

"Antony?"

"Yes, that one".

"I'm so happy for him", she said, with a huge smile on her face. He was a good friend while they both were at Ajax.

"Let's celebrate by eating".

"So, do you get these migraines often?", asked Rúben while they ate.

"Not really. I have 2, maybe 3 per year. They knock me out, though".

"Is there anything you need? Medicine or something?"

"Hydrating is the main thing and", she looked around to notice she had finished the drinks Rob brought, "I ran out of drinks. Great".

"I'll go buy more", he said, already getting up.

"Rúben, you don't have to. I can just drink water".

"No, I'll go. It's fine".

Just as he said that Lucía’s phone rang. She had many messages she still didn’t feel like answering.

"Hi, Scott. Congrats on the win!! You want to come to see me?", she looked at Rúben, who nodded. "Sure. When will you be here? Ok, see you in 10. Bye".

"I'll go get the drinks. You can let me know when he is gone and", he continued, looking away from her, "if he doesn't leave, I'll leave the bag outside of your door".

"You don't need to hide from him".

"You say that, but your face says otherwise. It's fine. I just care about you being fine".

"Rúben".

But he didn't listen. He just left, and a couple of minutes later, the doorbell rang.

"Hey".

"Hi! You don't look so bad".

"Thanks?", she laughed.

"That came out wrong. My mum used to have migraines and she looked terrible after them. I expected the same for you but you look the same. Maybe a bit paler. Have you eaten?"

"I just did. I took a nap that did wonders for me".

"Amazing", he said, giving her a hug. "Do you need help with anything?"

She thought about the plan for the rest of the day. "I need a shower. I feel gross".

"I can't help with that. Erik won't like it".

She rolled her eyes at him and laughed. "How about you take the clothes off my bed so we can put clean ones when I'm done showering?"

"Yes, Ma'am", he said with a salute.

"I can stay with you tonight if you want", said Scott while he helped her make the bed. "You have two spare rooms".

Her mind went to Rúben. His mood had changed when he found out Scott was coming and now this…but she wanted him to stay. The problem was she wanted Rúben there too, but that wouldn't work. How did she find herself in this situation?

"Hold that thought. I need to text someone before I forget", she told him, leaving the room.

Lucía: Scott wants to stay here to make sure I'm fine but I can tell him no.

Rúben: do you want him to stay there with you?

Lucía: I mean, it would give you a break from looking after me. You’re probably tired of me 😂

She saw the three dots showing up and disappearing multiple times until he sent a simple "ok". She didn't know what to answer back and then another text showed up telling her he was leaving the drinks by the door. It made her feel horrible for him but she hadn't done anything wrong, right?

Lucía went to tell Scott that it was ok for him to stay.

"Should we watch a movie?", he offered. And she nodded.

When she heard some noise outside the door, she ran to it.

“I’ll be back in a second, my neighbour was picking something up for me”, she told to a confused Scott.

“Ok”.

“Hey! Rúben!”

When he turned around he looked at her like a teacher who was about to scold a child. “What are you doing out of the house? Go back inside. What if you faint again?”

“I won’t. I needed to talk to you. And thank you, for everything”.

“No need to thank me, it’s just what friends do. I’m sure McTominay would have done the same if he didn’t have a match today”.

Instead of stopping to think about the meaning of his words, she just hugged him. “Thank you”.

And when she turned around, she noticed the door was closed and she didn’t have her keys.

“You’re not going inside?”, asked Rúben.

“I’m waiting until you leave so you don’t realize I’m locked out of my house and I have to ring the doorbell”.

She only heard a light chuckle and his footsteps as he went back upstairs.

The next morning she woke up feeling fine. A bit tired but the migraine was definitely gone.

"Morning little Lu".

"Morning Scott".

"You look good. Are you feeling better?"

"Fresh as a daisy", she smiled.

"Good. The team was falling apart without you".

"I know".

Once everything was ready, they both went to wait for the lift. And because fate seemed to want to laugh at her, when the doors opened, Rúben was there.

"Morning", she said.

"Morning", he answered back.

He and Scott looked at each other, not knowing how to react. Scott knew she had a couple of City players as neighbours, but she had never mentioned who.

"This is awkward", he said, laughing. "No offence, mate. It's just funny she lives surrounded by another team's players. She works for my team, you know? We need to find you another apartment, Lucy. Or you can move in with me".

Rúben didn't really answer. He just made a weird noise that she guessed kind of sounded like an agreement.

The door opened and they all got out quickly. Lucía noticed Scott putting his hand on her back. It was a gesture that meant nothing to them. But what would Rúben think?

She turned to look at him but found him already turning to go to his car.

"Bye! Have a good day!"

"You too", he answered without really looking at her.

"You ok?", was the most asked question she had that morning. Everyone was treating her like she was going to break or something. While she was still mad at herself for getting sick on matchday. She kept asking all the players for updates on their fitness but they insisted on asking about her instead.

"I'm fine, guys! Can't you see?", she said, hoping it would stop their nonsense.

"Yeah, it seems like Scotty looked after you really well", said Bruno, and Lucía could tell what he meant with his tone.

"Really funny".

"What? It's true. He ran to look after you like a knight in shining armour. Didn’t even stay for the post-match talk".

"Leave it", she heard Licha say, "you are making her uncomfortable".

She sent him a look that said thank you.

"I'm just saying that you and Scott can stop pretending. No one cares if you two are dating or doing whatever it is you’re doing".

"But we are not dating!", she said to Bruno, annoyed at him.

"Who aren't you dating?", asked Scott when he was getting closer to their table.

"You".

He laughed. "Well, yeah. I knew that much".

"Then tell your teammates. They love gossiping".

"Well, you didn't even say goodbye after the match to go to her. And you are always hugging and stuff like that. And you spent the night at her place. I don't know, you can't blame us for assuming", tried to say Bruno to defend himself.

"Yeah, I spent the night there in her spare room. I'm not going to apologize for looking after my friend", he shrugged.

“Whatever you two say”, said Bruno, not convinced.

And with that, they all moved to the next topic and left her alone…for now.

On the way to her apartment, Lucía changed her mind and pressed Rúben's floor on the lift instead of hers.

"Hi. What are you doing here?", he said when he opened the door.

"I wanted to clear the air between us. And to apologize just in case Scott’s comments offended you. He’s just…he says the first thing that comes to his mind without thinking".

"It's alright".

"And, you know, the next few weeks are really busy with European matches and things like that so, we won't see each other much but I just wanted to say that and see you, I guess".

"Ok".

She was about to say goodbye and leave when he finally talked. "We can see each other on Wednesday or Friday, maybe".

"Sure. I'll check my calendar and let you know", she smiled.

"And maybe we can do something outside of here?"

"What do you mean?", she was confused by his comment.

"Like, go have food somewhere. Go watch a movie. I don't know".

A part of her wanted to say yes, but it sounded too much like a proper date and the idea of it scared her. Between these walls, she felt safe. How she would feel outside remained a question mark.

"Sure. I mean, friends do that", she said with a nervous laugh.

"Yeah. Um…I need to go meet the team soon. Sorry to cut this conversation short".

"That's fine. Have a good trip and match".

"Thank you".

And after a quick stare contest, they said goodbye and she left. Even an idiot could tell that didn't go too well but what was she supposed to do? Rúben confused her a lot sometimes. And she didn't like that. She did like him, though. More and more every day. And it terrified her.

That next Friday Lucía met Rúben, who she hadn’t seen at all since Monday. After some debating, they decided to go to the cinema and maybe grab some food afterwards. He was buzzing after scoring his first Champions League goal and she couldn't help but love how he talked about it. Like a kid who just got his favourite toy.

“So you like horror movies?”, asked Rúben while he drove them to the cinema.

“Yes. It’s a family thing”.

Even though that sounded like the simplest comment, it made her remember how bad her relationship with her family was. They had barely talked in the last 10 years and the last time they did, her dad praised her ability to always find an excuse to avoid visiting them. But she knew how that visit would go and that she'd be much happier avoiding it until it became literally impossible to do so.

“Family tradition of watching horror movies then?”, laughed Rúben. “Your Christmases must be fun”.

Lucía just said yes and changed the subject. Talking about her family with other people was always the hardest thing to do.

The movie ended up being just alright but she had a good time watching it. It had been a while since she went to the cinema.

“Did you enjoy it?”, she asked Rúben when they both were on their way back to the car.

“Can I say no without you thinking I’m a coward? I didn’t like the jumpscares”.

That made her laugh. “It’s ok. It wasn’t great. I’ll make you a list of good horror movies that don’t just rely on silly scares”.

“Or we could watch a comedy”.

“Are you going to sleep with the lights on tonight, Dias?”, she teased him.

“I might. I'll have to hug you extra tight if I have a nightmare”.

And she had to bite her lip to not laugh at his cute reaction. The movie didn’t scare her at all.

The rest of the evening had gone well. But there was something about Rúben’s behaviour that made Lucía uncomfortable. And she felt bad about feeling that way in what was a stupid vicious cycle.

“Today was great, don’t you think?”, Rúben asked again when they were about to fall asleep.

“Yeah, it was fun”.

“It was. It was nice to be out together and just do things together in general, right? We should do it more often”.

“Yes”, she said, giving him the smile she knew he wanted to see before cuddling him and closing her eyes.

That night he didn’t make her sleep with the light on because he was scared about a movie, but he managed to scare her with his words.

And as for today? He woke up and was dead fucking silent. I need you to know that for months now, ive been waking up to him, wide awake at like 7 am, already up listening to music and getting ready for the day in whatever way he can. And today, he woke up at 10 am and didn’t speak a single word at all for like 3 hours. And then while i was eating, he was drinking his coffee and then out of nowhere he went ‘what the actual fuck was that finale?’ And after all i did was replied ‘now you know the bullshit ive been mad at for years’ he went ‘how did people survive this bullshit when it aired?’

Then afterwards he sent a voice memo to our mom and went ‘mom, you have no fucking clue how bad it is. Its really bad. This shit is my 9/11. I need to talk to you’ he also sent a similar voice memo to our dad.

Then he called his best friend and went ‘remember iron man? Yeah, i wanna fucking jump off a building right now. This is..Dude, i feel like I got dumped.’

Then he called our uncle cause he sent my brother a text about the finale. And they talked for quite a bit and he realized that our family knew about the finale and he went ‘AND NONE OF YOU FUCKS THOUGHT TO WARN ME? I know i hate spoilers but im not that bad! (This is where my uncle reminded him that my brother stopped talking to his husband bc he accidentally spoiled who won on drag race once) okay, but that was..okay maybe youre onto something here but still! This shit hurt! I was happy for no wedding and then BOOM! No justin.’

The things he said to me about the finale were a lot and all over the place but these are some of my favorite parts that stood out and i could remember: this was said while he was pacing up and down ‘everyone got their happy ending except Justin and Brian. What the fuck man? This is bullshit! I will start a protest over this’

‘So basically what i got from this fucking show is that: everyone except Brian, Justin and Emmett sucks.’

‘I want to know how many people they pissed off with this finale. Because this is bullshit! I mean not the wedding part, god imagine if they got married….yikes. But seriously why? Did people get angry at the season 4 finale so they decided to do this abomination?’

this next one was said while he was on the phone talking to a nurse who was telling him about tomorrows check up. Btw he was trying to whisper which to me made it funnier cause it sounded like he’s never whispered in his life ‘i just don’t understand cause why would they do th- yeah i’m still here. Okay, okay, yeah, mhm..okay- that like they were finally happy. Together. After all the bullshit! The bashing, the cheating, LA, CANCER, whatever the fuck season 5 was and now gone, ripped apart by one fucking review and a bitch with a bad haircut- yeah, so I give blood first and then? Okay cool- how fucking dare sh- no no im not talking to you, im talking to my sister.. about this sh- actually nevermind, I can’t do this now’

And the last one that i can remember that he said to before he once again went on a silent retreat for the rest of the day was: ‘fuck you. I hate you so much for showing me this show. I was better off not knowing because in my world, they were still together under one roof and not doing this long distance..(i remember that i wanted to say something here idk what) THEY ARE STILL TOGETHER AND NO ONE IS TAKING THAT AWAY FROM ME! This last season was just a suggestion..shit ended with the bike race’

After that, he went back to his room. Then outside to smoke. Then had his 5th coffee. And then he sat on a couch for like 20 minutes just petting Brian. And that was it. He was dead silent for the whole day. Our mom couldnt call him today because of work so he was in an even worse mood. And then he passed out with the cat. So basically the finale completely destroyed him and left him speechless. We barely even talked today because he literally looked like he went through hell and back over and over again. Im honestly wondering how tomorrow will go. Especially since our parents did text me to ask how bad on a scale of 1-iron man is it. And when i replied that i think it might be worse, our dad texted me ‘fuck…that’s uncharted territory. We’re all fucked.’

How did people survive this bullshit? I think this is the time to bring up the existence of fan fiction and gifsets and fanart. That’s how we survive. We create art. Because in the end the writers DID make us care and did make us feel big strong feelings and it inspired us to go create more feelings… and isn’t that the point in the end?

AND NONE OF YOU FUCKS THOUGHT TO WARN ME? You were ALL so careful to avoid spoilers. For science. He would have been really angry if he had been spoiled.

I will start a protest over this. I really did think he would start a petition for a reunion episode. I also thought he would make it happen. He seems like he has great relationships with his friends and you and your family, so I just thought enough people would care and he would be passionate enough and he would be able to accomplish what 20 years of fandom hasn’t been able to.

Shit ended with the bike race. THAT IS LITERALLY WHAT I’M ALWAYS SAYING. END THE SHOW WHEN BRIAN ASKS JUSTIN TO MOVE IN. YOU CAN EVEN LEAVE AMBIGUOUS WHETHER JUSTIN GOES TO LA, it’s unambiguous that they’re partners.

You know how I shared my ikesoren playlist forever ago? I thought I'd share my FFXIV playlist now though it's audience is, uh, just me.

Some background: some songs are for generic WoL, but my specific WoLs are a female Au Ra named Yukiko Shirogane and a male Viera named Freyr Cyfddydd. They are both reincarnations of Azem, as Freyr almost died when he was born, splitting his soul in two. Their relationship is ultimately that of "like brother and sister".

OTH 2x10 REWATCH

OK I’ve gotten a couple asks for more OTH reviews and what had happened was the show was slowly sucking the life out of me that when I got to season 2, I couldn’t keep it together so I didn’t sit and watch episodes, I would skip ahead 10 seconds every few minutes and then I was getting so sick of it that I went back to watching GoT. LOL. But since it seems to be something a few people like I will go back to where I left off and do a couple of reviews.

1. Ugh Peyton and her like two-episode coke addiction arc. I actually find it hilarious that I hate Peyton more and not less now that I’m not a preteen.

2. IIIIIIIIII DON’T WANNA BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT I’VE BEEN TRYNA BE LATELYYYYYYYYYYYYY jesus what a convoluted line.

3. “Nathaniel Hawthorne once wrote--” SHUT UP, LUCAS.

4. Lucas’ jacket, chair and wall are all the same tone. This is ridiculous.

5. I’m trying to decide if Dan hiring Jules to get into a relationship with Keith only to break his heart is high school petty or actually insidious. Maybe it’s because it SOUNDS like a high school prank. I mean, Nate did start dating Haley to mess with Lucas, which is very teen. But I guess like father, like son, idk.

6. Lucas, the colour brown doesn’t give you a personality.

7. “Because you’re better than that” the slut shaming in OTH is laughably prevalent. Brooke's decision to sleep with Felix without wanting a relationship doesn’t make her “less than”, my god. Especially since what’s meant to be conveyed is that she deserves an emotionally fulfilling relationship.

SIDE NOTE, I love how in the episode before (formal) when Anna is drunk and initiates sex with him and he stops it, it’s because he wants to make sure he’s in love first and not “you’re drunk and therefore can’t really consent to having sex”, I hooked up with the DOUCHIEST dude but before that time happened there was almost a time before that but I was tipsy and he wasn’t and so he was like nah, HE understood this concept but not Lucas Scott, The Sensitive Hero of Tree Hill (and before anyone goes in the Olde Decade of 2000s, this was 2000s too)

8. “It took Brooke less than an hour to hook up with Lucas.” “Lucas wouldn’t do that, he’s with Anna.” “Really?” *points*

OH NO, NOT WALKING AND TALKING IN A PUBLIC SPACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9. I’ll low it tho because that’s actually very teen. But they need the melodrama of Dawson’s Creek to pull off the fact that everything is fucking monumental to you at 16.

10. YO. IN 2005 THE SPARKLY CARDIGAN WAS FUCKING EVERYWHERE.

11. “It’s not about the camp, Haley, it’s about trust” I’m sorry but that’s not how that conversation would go, this is very after-school-special-theme-of-the-week type dialogue, a more natural response would be, “It’s not even about the camp, Haley, it’s about the fact that I’m putting this marriage first, are you? I want you to stop working with Chris.”

12. The reveal of Peyton’s locker has me like, realistically, if she went to school and saw that on her locker, she would go straight to the principal, not open it and get her books etc.

13. I know Nathan walked out of the apartment without changing but he can at least take off the tux jacket.

14. “The fact is man, I used to destroy guys like you. Daily.” I know Nathan was basically a villain in season 1 but did we ever see him beat someone up? I know I just watched the season but I erased it from my mind because I love myself.

15. Oh my god it’s been 10 minutes?

16. How would Lucas not know about the slur on Peyton’s locker? Everyone is supposed to be talking about it.

17. Oh, so he did know, he just didn’t start off with, “I heard what happened. I wanted to see if you were OK” because why be straightforward.

18. “You miss Jake, huh?” “OK, you can’t just walk in here and ask me something like that!” Girl, what?

19. “When was the last time we even had a conversation about anything real?” a) when was the first time? “I want my art to mean something.” How unique, Peyton. b) he’s TRYING to talk about something real NOW.

20. “Because a REAL friend would know about all the crap that I’ve been dealing with lately.” PEYTON, he JUST tried to ask you about Jake AND he came over and asked about the locker in a really stupid roundabout way. I swear, I hate this ship.

21. “Just go, please.” “OK. I’ll go.”

You can’t make THIS face and be Sensitive Guy, Chad, that’s a face that says “bitches be crazy”, it should hurt you that she can’t talk to you and I mean this even on a platonic level because that’s the kind of guy you’re supposed to be.

22. “Whatever you think, I really do care about you, Peyton.” In the FLATTEST voice ever, what is this, a Steroline scene?

23. “Lucas Eugene Scott.” “Eugene??” I thought Haley and Lucas were best friends since they were kids, shouldn’t she know his middle name?

24. I know Haley has a failing marriage and everything but Lucas is her best friend and he’s refusing to take a test that will determine whether or not he has a heart defect, I feel like that should ALSO be a priority for her.

25. I always thought this exchange was unintentionally funny. “Why wouldn’t you want to take the test?” “For lots of reasons! Basketball! The way I want to live my life!” Because while ‘the way I want to live my life’ encompasses many things, Lucas only lists two things. And also you could die if you continued to play basketball, Lucas, you’re a teenager, not stupid.

26. “Do you really think I would put a game before my life?” “I would.” “Oh, GROW UP” I wish she said that with more irony, the way Lily in GG would say it.

27. Also, I love how it’s all LUCAS LOVES BASKETBALL, BASKETBALL IS HIS LIFE but it’s also not at the same time? Unless he’s actually PLAYING basketball, Lucas doesn’t really talk about it or seem to care that much about it.

28. Lucas is a minor, can’t she legally make him take a test?

29. Oh, NOW Nathan takes off his jacket.

30. “I’m not going to see Chris anymore.” I’m just going to go on tour with him!

31. “These feelings won’t go away.” What an appropriate song for an angsty Peyton sitting on her bed.

32. And to be fair, what Peyton is going through right now is terrible, I get that, she’s just incredibly annoying as a character.

33. So the Peyton and Anna scene is actually a pretty good scene, I just think we need a bit more before Peyon gets to this place. What I mean is, the locker incident happens and then she and Brooke are sitting outside and Brooke is trying to cheer her up and she’s like the Old P Sawyer would’ve just rolled with this and she’s like I haven’t been feeling like the Old P Sawyer lately or whatever then she cuts school then when Lucas comes to visit her she’s crying and then she tells him to leave and then she’s sitting in the room listening to angsty music then Anna comes and tells her to laugh this off and then Peyton responds with the album and “what about the girl who can’t?” speech like she was always going to make a statement when nothing beforehand suggests that she was going to do that, it seemed like she was just going to try and wait for it to blow over so if Anna’s response sparked that anger then the dialogue should’ve been like, “You know, people have been telling me to laugh this off, to just roll with it, but...” *pause* and then we can get to the scene.

34. Brooke slashing Felix’s tires is lol.

35. LOL OTH’s budget was nothing

but their clothes still look better than RoP’s.

36. “I heard you fixed Brooke’s windshield. I wanna pay for it. I took some money out of the bank.” What else would you do, Mouth? Steal it?

37. Lucas’ favourite colour is black and he, like, never wears it.

38. Mouth is a hedgehog.

39. Remember when there was that tiktok video going around where people had to come to a party dressed as the first character they had a crush on and people came dressed as Sonic? I just left that alone.

40. Black principal! Because of course there’s a Black principal. Just like there’s a Black judge or a Black doctor or now it’s a Black therapist or police chief. Roles of authority that are two-liners or supporting characters. And many times and in the case of this principal, are there to be the person who shows some kind of prejudicial or biased thinking.

41. So in the DVD commentary Mark Schwahn went on and on about fighting with the network about this storyline because the execs didn’t get why Peyton was making such a big deal about it since she herself wasn’t gay and he was saying how he was telling the execs that her not being gay wasn’t the point then he proceeded to talk about how Hilarie was really nervous and uncomfortable about taking off her shirt in front of everyone but she was finally able to do it because she’s a professional and then you find out years later that Mark Schwahn is a fucking predator who sexually harassed the female cast and it’s just terrible because basically, he just wanted to see Hilarie without her top on.

42. “Oppression isn’t exactly a mystery to me. I feel your pain.” “NO, NO, YOU DON’T. I’m sorry but YOU don’t know anything about MY pain” this whole exchange is just UGH. Skipping ahead.

43. So, Lucas, do you ever go to school? Like you start there and then you don’t get to last period.

44. And why is your hood on? Everything you do is insufferable.

45. Wow, I have more than 45 things to say about this?

46. “Girls see me as a little brother” so you smash Brooke’s windshield? The original incel.

47. “Haley went after Nathan when he was a jerk, Brooke went for Felix, Lucas you’ve screwed up a lot this year and you’ve had a different girl every week” I mean, you’re not wrong, Mouth, but that was a disproportionate and violent reaction.

48. So. Felix. You put some cash and a picture of you and your ex in an envelope and slid it under Brooke’s door then left in the off chance she’d take the money, see the photo, and ask you about it so you can show her you’re a person? What kind of plan is that?

49. Nathan wears black more than Lucas.

50. “I guess Dan’s not the only I can’t trust” Lucas, you’re being COMPLETELY irrational.

51. Skills must say “dawg” at least once in a sentence otherwise we’ll forget he’s Black. It is known.

52. All these teens having bedrooms that have doors that lead to outside. I know there’s a better way to say this but you get what I mean.

53. There is no way Felix did not hear them talking. Stay in the bathroom.

54. I feel like Chris wouldn’t wear this candy striper shirt

he’s someone who would wear black, no?

55. So, I think Lucas’ favourite colour being black really struck a nerve for me for no rational reason.

56. Don’t studios cost money? Like it’s expensive to just be in a studio, you pay for the time.

57. In the DVD commentary they were saying that Bethany was kissing Chris back and so they had to do a few takes so it could be made clear that it was just Chris coming onto Haley but Haley let’s him kiss her for a pretty long time, she should’ve moved away much more quickly.

58. And she’s not nearly as upset as she should be.

59. “Your dreams are a bus ride away” that sounds SO unappealing to me.

60. “IT WAS ALWAYS THERE BETWEEN US HALEY WHETHER YOU ADMIT IT OR NOT.” “YOU’RE THE LIAR, ELENA. THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON BETWEEN US AND YOU’RE LYING TO ME, AND YOU’RE LYING TO STEFAN, AND MOST OF ALL YOU’RE LYING TO YOURSELF.” All you men, just ugh, shut up.

61. If you’re having a bad day, I just don’t know if coke would be the drug of choice? The high lasts between 15-20 minutes that’s why people do it constantly. Smoke some weed, Peyton, chill the fuck out.

62. Oh look, Nathan’s in black again. And Lucas ... not so much.

63. I DON’T BUY IT LUKE, I THINK THERE’S SOMETHING IN YOUR HEART THAT YOU’RE RUNNING FROM. YOU KNOW THERE’S A GIRL YOU HAVE FEELINGS FOR.” I just ... WHAT is this writing. What does Lucas’ dumbass refusing to take a test to see if he could DIE from a heart defect have to do with his FIGURATIVE heart? NOTHING. Having feelings for someone has NO ROOM in this conversation. “You can tell me your heart’s fine, but until you tell this girl how you feel, your heart’s going to be flawed.”My guy, that makes no FUCKING sense.

64. Shady drug dealing at night. All my friends either went to the dealer’s house or the dealer went to theirs.

65. Deb wasn’t in this episode at all and then she just shows up at the end?

66. Who says “I love you” for the first time on a machine?

67. “You know how much I care about you” “I really do care about you, Peyton” Lucas, SWITCH IT UP, this is why you repeat shit in letters, are you sure the text in The Comet isn’t just taken from your text in An Unkindness of Ravens? Because you plagiarize yourself constantly.

68. Lucas’ breakup is so fucking ridiculous. “But there’s somebody else and she’s a part of my history that came before you and I’ve been lying about how I feel about her and I need to see her tonight because I feel like she’s slipping away” does Anna really need to know that right after you break up with her you’re going to see the girl you ACTUALLY like? Although I just remembered that he is literally going right next door to Brooke so if Anna sees that’d be awkward. WOW Lucas is SUCH a fuckboy, it’s LAUGHABLE. SHE LIVES RIGHT NEXT DOOR, LUKE. (More a softboy than a fuckboy)

69. I know this is not the point, but I feel like this coke would be bad coke. I feel like when Cousin Greg went to Central Park to get Kendall coke and Kendall was like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?

70. Don’t do drugs.
