i just love microfics i literally dont edit shit, think abt ways to implement figurative language to make the prose prettier or refine it and it's so stress-free and it's just now i realize that after tt I've been worrying too much that all of my writing should be a consistent representation of 'my best' bc more people started reading it and the way iv been constantly comparing works i find 'top tier' and 'what was i on when writing this' literally nearly plummeted my writing drive.

reblog with your ranking of the eight cliffhangers from “not bad, actually” to “shannon, i’ll be banging on your door by sunrise”. this is. for science.
(side note: this is a ranking of the cliffhangers themselves, not how they were resolved or continued in the next book. so if a cliffhanger really hit you hard but then you found the way it was resolved in the next book to be underwhelming, that’s irrelevant. it would still be more toward the “shannon, i’ll be banging on your door by sunrise” side, and vice versa.)
mine is:
(not bad, actually)
“Sophie Elizabeth Foster is unmatchable.” (Flashback)
“I’m going to be hiding the same way the Black Swan hid you. [ . . . ] Love, Keefe.” (Unlocked)
“‘Sophie?’” (Lodestar)
“‘As of this morning, Prentice is awake.’” (Neverseen)
“‘Let’s go join the Black Swan!’” (Everblaze)
“‘Who’s Alvar?’” (Nightfall)
“‘You’re saying stellarlune is a Forgotten Secret.’ [ . . . ] ‘Bring it on.’” (Legacy)
“‘My name is Elysian,' she said. 'And I am the power source you’re all here looking for.’” (Stellarlune)
(shannon, i’ll be banging on your door by sunrise)

ok sorry for getting emotional about lilith again but dialogue from the fight for sanctuary dlc
quest: the dawn of new pandora
an echo you can find in the backburner
quest: paradise found
like lilith having to fill roland's shoes after his death whether she wants to or not because everybody's looking at her to make the executive decisions and expecting her to be just as capable....then comparing that to dialogue at the end of the dlc where she's starting to prove herself to the others but she's still being held up to a standard.......im putting my head in my hands

this cahara fellow intrigues me… might i know more 👀
SMILING ok so basically he's a mercenary who's been hired for a hefty sum to retrieve a prisoner from the dungeons of fear and hunger, a captain of a mercenary army. The job is already suspicious to him but having to do dirty work and petty thievery from a young age he takes it.
Though as selfish as he is this job isn't entirely for himself, he promises his pregnant wife he'll buy her out of debt from the brothel she's working at and a life of luxury after this mission so they won't have to ever think of their past again. Makes sense when the intro of his playthrough says he had been abandoned as a child.
It's interesting because while you play as him you get a lot of other insight such as some flavor text when you pick up the small dagger. Unsuited for someone like you but smaller kids could wield it, and he is reminded of his father who taught him how to use one in combat at an early age. So his parents were at least semi-present.
If you play as any other character you can find him in the level 3 prisons where he asks if he could join your party, upon agreeing and leaving the area you'll find he's missing along with some of your blue vials (if you don't have those then literally anything else) already showing petty thievery. Though if you find him later in the mines you could lash out at him putting you in battle or pretend that didn't happen and he can be recruited in your party permanently.
He's a funny guy, sort of the most laid back out of all of the party even being flirty at times. Keep in mind he's still in a relationship with Celeste (his wife) and even with that demeanor I don't think he would like. abandon her so it's definitely an open agreement. With how his S ending has him return to her and his dream sequence he's pretty devoted. That said he's always down for the marriage sequences having some of the best dialogue when you "show love" to him.
It makes it all the more obvious when he starts losing his will the deeper you both go depending on how you manage him.
SPOILERS DOWN BELOWWWWW↓↓↓
ANOTHER THING THAT MAKES ME ABSOLUTELY INSANE (through spoiler osmosis, I haven't finished most of the endings yet nor have I gotten to termina) IS HOW ITS IMPLIED HE DIED IN THE DUNGEONS. YEA ALL THE PLAYABLE CHARACTERS' S ENDINGS ARE CANON EXCEPT HIS. HE'S THE ONE WHO LED THE GIRL TO ASCENSION AT THE DEPTHS. THOUGH I DON'T THINK HE'D KNOW THIS IT ALSO MAKES THE MOST SENSE SINCE HE'S AN EXPECTING FATHER HIMSELF AND WOULDN'T HAVE LEFT HER BEING ABANDONED AS A CHILD HIMSELF AND OHHHHHHHHH GOD CAHARAAAAAAA. CHARAHHEA

if u were a book (nit like an actual book a mad up book of you as a person) whatwould u be
mmmm paperback
TRICKED YOU, NOT THE END OF THE POST!!!!!!!!!!!!
okokok I think it would be fun to be a children's book but like? Let's be honest here that's not happening. THOUGH if it would happen? One of those thin, fully illustrated ones. Watercolor maybe... who knows. I know most children stories have like.... some sorta moral? A lesson of sorts. I don't think I would have one. I would just be a story for the sake of a story,, I think that's enough. Or like. Pete the cat. I just remembered he existed. Love Pete the cat so mcuh.
okok that aside erm... if I was actually turned into a book? Like cursed by an evil wizard of sorts.... I'd like to be a paperback perhaps, just because I personally read them more (lots of hardcovers are like. Huge) and they're slightly more representive of me like,, as a person. If that makes any sense. Also I hate dust covers or whatever on hardcover books. Just 2 note.
Format? Well there's these two books I've read recently and I have NO idea what you would call the formatting but im obsessed with it.
books are long way down and the book thief, respectively. (Don't tell anyone but I haven't actually finished the book thief,,, working on it) obviously some divide in the formatting here, but they're both atypical for a book.
[TANGENT I LOVED LONG WAY DOWN SO MUCH!!!! ITS A SUPER QUICK READ I READ IT IN LIKE A DAY.... which is a common theme w things I like (finishing way faster than I should and can) honestly if I don't finish your story in an unreasonably fast amount of time what's even the point (JOKING IM JUST RLLY BAD WITH FINISHING THINGS...... it's like sampling bais because the only things i do finish are things i finish super fast)]
erm what else is in a book........ (googling) OUH not like. That it specifically comes with a book. Moreso an environment type thing. There would be a bunch of writing in the margins and a cracked spine and dog eared pages etc because I don't see myself being a perfect book like brand new style. Also think it would be cool to be a huge dramatic spell book of sorts but like. Let's be real here I'm not getting that either.. mayhaps a small book. Like those really small horror novels we have. Thick, but small enough to fit in a hoodie pocket if you really wanted. also like a bazillion years old (not actually that old tbh)
um. Things in a book. Cover...? Covercovercover. Not sure what my hypothetical cover would look like. I suppose it depends on what the book (me) was about...? But that could be any number of things,,, who knows! Whatever ur heart desires. A like. Hard cover would be cool. In theory. Hypothetically, though not in practice.
author would be unlisted

What's the ship, OP? 👀
😭 ik it makes no sense okay it makes sense in my HEAD
and only in a very specific dynamic that i maybe wrote a 1k intro chapter to already
iruka/obito no i know. it makes no sense. I just had this incredibly specific vision in which obito is an (unrepentant) war criminal and imprisioned post 4th war, and he is so toxic and bitter and dangerous and kakashi is so obviously compromised and guilt ridden about the whole thing! so kakashi (as the 6th hokage) realizes (reluctantly, and definitely pushed by his jounin commander/advisor shikamaru to the path of logic) that in order to best serve his village and stay loyal he shouldn't talk to obito, or see him. period.
and where does iruka come in? well the 6th hokage needs to assign one person to interact w his problematic beloved but also someone who isn't going to go crazy and has extremely high security clearance but also might feel some level of empathy and is proven to put the village first always.
and oh, hey. would you look at that one mission desk shinobi/academy sensei/big-hearted loud-mouthed chunin who fits those criteria exactly?
and thus Iruka is given the extremely dubious honor of being obito's jailer basically.
