korra (legend of korra) x reader angst to fluff 🙏🏻
I gotchuuu 😉👍
Korra x reader
+slight Kuvira x reader cause I have a huge brain rot for her🥲
Angst to fluff,mentions of trauma,long fic because it has plot in it.
Tumblr media
Korra has been...distant.
Ever since Zaheer and the red lotus poisoned her and forced her to fight in the avatar state she's been different,to you and to her family.
She doesn't eat,when she sleeps she has nightmares, she doesn't talk to you...and it's worrying you so much,your heart aches each time she sends you away with her deafening silence.
You try talking to her about Asami's accomplishment or Mako's new job,even how Bolin made a name for himself.
But each time she'd have that empty look in her eyes,as she sits in that wheelchair she despises so much.
Sometimes you wish you could read her mind,chase away the memories that are tormenting her.
"Please Korra,I'm begging you,try...for me,just...I know you can do it." You sit on your knees,hands on her knees. Eyes looking at her pleading.
"I'm not who I used to be, (Name). Stop trying to save me." She turns her head away, avoiding your pleading eyes.
"That's not true,and you know it!" You cup her cheek, bringing her face closer to yours,yet your eyes hardly connect with each other.
She grabbed your wrist, pulling it away from her face."I don't need you and your pity, so find someone else to nag and leave me alone already!" Korra snaps,anger running trough her body.
Your eyes whiden in shock and you feel like she squeezed your heart with her harsh words.
"Do you even love me?" You bite your lip, waiting for an answer you know you won't get.
You avert your eyes from her face. Disappointed with her lack of will to be with you.
"That's what I taught." You get up and turn around ready to leave. Ready for a new start away from here,from Korra.
"(Name) i-" she wants to get up,run after you ,hug you and tell you she loves you more than herself. But she can't even gather her words properly.
You stop for a second , wishing to hear those words,only fooling yourself further.
.
.
With time Korra started getting more ambitious. She wanted to return to the person everyone knew her as. The avatar.
Her wish to prove to you that she can do better was growing by the day. Even so,the last time you spoke to here was the day you left, a day she still regrets even now.
Sometimes she would just feel like giving up,but you reminded her who she was doing this for,giving her the will to fight.
It's been a year since you've left the south pole. Being there with the shell of your lover was too much for you to handle.
Since you returned to Republic city you've been reunited with Bolin, helping Kuvira restore order to the earth kingdom.
It really took your mind off Korra. Now that you joined Kuvira, you got stronger. Unlike someone,you didn't let your trauma and past tragedies hunt you anymore.
"Well done (Name), you're getting stronger by the day." The dark haired woman smiles, hand laying on your shoulder proudly.
You wipe some sweat of your forehead, smiling back at her. "That's the goal I'm reaching for." She nods, looking at your form.
"I remember the first time Bolin introduced you to me and my cause." She wraps some bandages on her wrist, preparing to spar with you, "You were so lost." You watch her moves carefully, getting in a fighting stance.
"Im not the person I used to be." You speak,words giving you a sense of deja Vu.
Kuvira lounges , throwing some big stones at you. You grin, dodging them.
Once you find your opening,you make some ice disks and throw them at her.
Kuvira bends herself an earth wall,then throws it at you.
You make yourself a wave of water,going around Kuvira's wall, your water wave is circling the older woman. Once water is all around her ,you let it fall,and freeze, traping her in ice.
You move towards Kuvira's frozen body. "You cold in there?" A smug smile adorns your face as you slightly bend down to meet with her face. Your hands lazily lay on your knees.
She smirks,your metal collar suddenly pulled towards her. "Don't get to cocky now. It's just the first time you finally got to beat me. Let's try it with metal bending next time hm?"
You roll your eyes, releasing Kuvira from the Ice cage that kept her down. "I'm confident in myself,but not that confident yet." arms crossed as she rubbed some sore spots on her cold hands.
"Can't you have some faith in yourself?Keep going like this and you won't be far from becoming my second in charge." She smiles.
You smile proudly, happy you can finally accomplish something more for yourself.
.
.
Another year passed,with you growing stronger and smarter every day,but the taught of your former lover never ceased to fade. Even now ,her return growing closer by the day. You wonder how she's doing, from what Tenzin has told you,she's having a great recovery.so far. Finally able to walk again.
You worked hard to become Kuvira's right hand,and you're now closer to your goal than ever.
So many cities you helped bring back order and balance , so many lives you saved while being part of this cause.
Unfortunately, Kuvira soon has to step down from her spot,the council finding a new king for the earth kingdom while your boss brought peace wherever she went.
.
"Oh and Flying monkeys!" You blink, looking at Bolin. "Isn't that what Avatar Aang had ?" You raise a brow,not remembering how this conversation even started. "That is so incorrect." Bolin crosses his arms. Looking ready to give you a lecture. "Avatar Aang had a flying Lemur AND a bison as his animal companions. Not a flying monkey, (name)." You roll your eyes. "Whatever you say rock brain." You smirk noticing his anoyed expression. "Hey! How many times have I told you to stop calling me that?" He pokes you in the waist,making you joilt up. "Stop that!" You glare at him,poking him back.
The two of you go on like this for a little while, attracting a few stares to yourself.
Until someone clears their troath.
"Am I interrupting something?" Lin stands towering over you and Bolin, giving you a bored look. "Chief Beifong!" Bolin is quick to bow down, dragging you with him.
"You little-" you stop yourself, locking eyes with the police chief, now giving her an awkward smile.
"If the two of you are done acting like monkeys,could you follow me?" You and Bolin now stand straight, noticing Lin's mood is lower than usual.
"I can't stay for chit chatting,maybe (Name) could solve this? I remembered I was supposed to meet with mako,like 30 minutes ago." The brunette boy gives you a sorry smile as you glare at him. "How convenient." Your comment followed by narrowed eyes,sent chills down his spine. Bolin took a quick look at chief Beifong,then left.
"Good. I wanted to speak to you anyways." You raise a brow curiously at the older woman's words. "You did?I mean ,you do?" She nods,not saying another word until you get to a remote Cafe.
The two of you sit down in a corner, quite remote from the rest of the people in the public space.
"So ,what did you want to speak to me about Chief?" You start, looking at the window.
"It's about Kuvira." Your face turns to Lin as she got your interest.
"What about Kuvira?" You tilt your head.
"I'm worried she won't step down and allow the prince to rule the earth kingdom." Lin stops,as a waitress brought the two of you two cups of tea,"Kuvira seems to take great pride in what she accomplished,but I don't think she's willing to stop there. People of earth empire call her The Great Uniter." The chief looks at her mug, waiting for you to respond.
You fiddle with your fingers, searching for the right words to describe Kuvira's wishes. "She has done so much for the earth kingdom,and she's a strong woman,in combat and in mind,the name fits her ,if km honest."
You stop to drink a little from your (chosen) tea, "And I know it's not my place to talk but...ever since Korra is gone,the people see Kuvira as their savior."
Lin sighs, "Kuvira is forcing people to do labor work for her , threatening them with their lives." You whiden your eyes at the words spoken from her.
"I know how she can be..harsh,.but she wouldn't do such a thing." Your gaze moves to the window.
"She is manipulating you (Name), because she knows how strong you are. Should I also remind you how you used to date the avatar?." You close your eyes tightly, trying to push away the taughts of Korra. "Why do you think she chose to have you so close to her? If Korra ever becomes a problem for her,she'll have you as leverage." Lin's fist tightens, looking at your expression.
"It's not true. If you saw the way she acts...you wouldn't say that.Kuvira wouldn't just use me like that." She sighs at your way of defending Kuvira. How could you defend such a woman?
"Everything Kuvira does is for a reason,keep that in mind (Name)." Lin gets up and leaves some money on the table.
You remain there , trying to piece together your racing taughts.
.
And just like Lin said,once it was time for Kuvira to back down and allow the prince to rise,she made the announcement that from then on the earth kingdom would be under her rule.
The rule of The Great Uniter.
This got you contemplating ever joining her,it doesn't feel right with you.
Bolin chose to stick around,but you wanted to leave. Being in a situation like this was too much for you.
"So you planned to just abandon me?" The person you didn't want to see the most right now was behind you, leaning on your door frame.
"This isn't right,Kuvira." You stated, covering your arms as you turn to see her.
"This is exactly what's right for the earth kingdom. I can't let that spoiled Prince destroy everything we accomplished." She pushed herself of the door way, moving closer to you.
"It doesn't feel right,I can't fight for something that doesn't feel right with me." Kuvira sighs. She places a hand on your shoulder. "I know what I'm doing,but I can't do it without you by my side. We accomplished so many great things together." She starts slowly guiding you towards a window. "Just look at how much good we did" her hands point at the window. "The land is safe again, raiders are not attacking innocent people or stealing. What more could you ask?" you look at one of the cities she got back and supplied,it looks at peace. What if she was right?
You bite your lip, "What happens with the people after we leave?" Her eyes meet yours,
"We give them a job, something to do to make the earth kingdom a better place,even the raiders."
Even if your gut tells you not to trust her,your mind reminds you of the great things she did so far. Kuvira never left you down.
"Are you telling the truth to me?"
She smiles, holding eye contact with you.
"Why would I lie?"
.
.
This is getting out of hand, Kuvira wants to attack Zaofu, Suyin's home simply for not obeying her terms.
"Kuvira this is madness,you can't do this!" You enter the command center ,she dismisses the people that were in the room, leaving you two alone.
"No. It's necessary for me to do this. Once Zaofu finally surrenders to me I get total control of the earth empire."
You scoff at her words.
"Do you even hear yourself?" Pacing around the room,you can't help but glance at her troops just outside.
"I thought you were with me on this, remember everything we fight for." Her armor slightly clangs as she walks towards you.
"I fight to make this world a better place,you fight to take control and rule and empire, excuse me but there's a difference." You move away from her,scoffing at the taught of helping her bring Zaofu down.
Kuvira glares at the back of your head.
"I'm doing this because no one else was willing to. And I have to make some tough choices that many wouldn't,why can't you see?" The tall woman runs a hand trough her hair, trying to calm herself down.
Now it all makes sense,Lin was right and you were stupid for doubting her.
"I'm leaving and you can't stop me. Not this time." She sighs, once you start moving towards the door, two of her metal bands parts push you to the wall,hands stuck above your head.
"Let me go."you glare at her trying to get away from her metal.
"I expected better from you." She shakes her head disappointed. You look around the room, trying to find a water source, yet nothing in sight.or reach
"Lock her up tight. Make sure she gets no visitors." Kuvira calls for two of her guards.as they take you away,you see the shrinking image of Kuvira's disappointed face.
.
.
.
You watch as Korra fights with Kuvira for your life,and Suyin's.
She got so much better,but there's still something wrong with her you just know it.
Kuvira seems to have the upper hand,until Korra knocks her down. She was so close,but she hesitates suddenly, giving Kuvira the opportunity to trap Korra.
"No!" You scream,Kuvira turns her head to look at you,a smile adorning her face. Looking around desperately,you see a little source of water, hopefully close enough to you.
You move your hands that are tied behind your back to use the water,creating a razor form to slice trough Kuvira's metal.
You take off running, attacking Kuvira with spikes of ice.
The metal bender pushes herself away from Korra , creating a shield for herself.
Kuvira Is pissed,how could you escape? Are her soldiers good for nothing at all? More importantly,what are you going to do?
You create a big ice shield that goes all around to fit you and Korra trough,finally getting to touch her after so long.
"Korra please get up!" You cradle her head in your arms as her upper body lays on your thighs (Kuvira is jelly~~) she opens her eyes,bright blue eyes you would lose yourself in.
"I came back for you." She smiles touching your face lightly,fearing you might be another one of her illusions. Your eyes whiden, smiling at her words
"I shouldn't have left you in the first place." A tear falls on her face (imagine Kuvira trying to break the ice while those two have their moment ☠️)
"I didn't mean anything I said that day,I'm so sorry,I didn't mean to send you away." Korra gets up,now on her knees ,face to face with you. Her hands cup your face, staring at you lovingly." I Love you." Hearing those words,you jump on Korra,giving her a big hug.
You sniff, smiling at her. "We should really focus on getting out of this situation now." Your voice cracks as you joke.
Korra stands up,ready to fight once more, her will stronger than ever.
.
.
.
I originally wanted to write something else,but this plot came so I just rolled with it. ┐( ˘_˘)┌

Dining with the Rich
|| Avatar Korra x fem!reader
|| Warnings: none, just pure fluff
|| Summary: Korra finds reader hanging out by the park river and offers to take her on a nice date, it's been a while since they had the chance to.
Requests open!
~~~
Tumblr media
It was a peaceful day in Republic City.
You'd been enjoying your morning, laying by the park river and looking towards the sky with your arms folded behind your head. Feeling relaxed and at peace for the first time in a while. Being the Avatar's girlfriend meant you were always caught up in some chaos or drama that didn't originally involve you... but you somehow get dragged into anyway.
That's when you hear the sound of a familiar voice calling your name, propping yourself up on your elbows you turn your head and see Avatar Korra. Giving you that classic smile of hers you've come to love. A soft blush forms on your cheeks and you smile back as she waves at you, joining you by the river and sitting down beside you. Planting a soft kiss to your lips.
"Hey, you." She rests her hand on your knee," What're you doing out here? I've been looking for you all morning."
You lean your head on her shoulder, resting against her side and taking in her warmth.
"Enjoying the weather. You said you've been looking for you?" You couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that. Was your peace really going to be interrupted by more Avatar duties again?
"Yeah, I've been thinking... it's been a while since we went on a proper date, unless you count fighting villains as a date?" Korra jokes, you roll your eyes and suppress a laugh.
"Absolutely not."
"Didn't think so." Korra gives you a playful nudge, which manages to get that laugh out of you. She smiles," Asami mentioned a nice restaurant that opened up recently and offered to get us a reservation. If you're interested."
"Oh, definitely. I'm not missing out on free rich people food." You smile back and Korra laughs this time, draping her arm around your shoulders and pulling you in close to her side.
"How about tonight, then?" She looks at you and you nod.
~~~
A few hours later, you were getting ready for your date. In absolute state of panic trying to make sure you presented yourself perfectly.
Jinora walked past your door (you have a room in the Air Temple) then stopped and back tracked, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
"Why are you so freaked out?" She asks, you jump and turn to look at her. Having been startled by her sudden appearance.
"I have a date with Korra tonight and I need to look perfect. Asami got us a reservation at some fancy rich restaurant." You explain, your hands making frantic gestures.
Jinora stifles a laugh and walks into your room, arms folded across her chest as she tilts her head at you.
"Korra's not going to care what you wear. I mean, have you seen the way she dresses?" Jinora reminds you, you glance at yourself in your body mirror. Looking over your features.
You'd thrown together a quick outfit. A nice black velvet sleeveless t (which showed a bit of cleavage). Paired with velvet black dress pants. It was the nicest thing you owned and you had saved an embarrassing amount of money just to get it.
"I know but the place is like- super fancy-" You stutter out, rethinking your choice as you bite down on your thumb nail.
Jinora rolls her eyes.
"If you aren't going to listen to my advice you're hopeless." She leaves you to fend for yourself, not wanting to deal with you if you won't even listen to her advice.
~~~
After another hour of fussing, you finally decide you were at least presentable. Taking a breath, you stepped out of your room and headed down the hall. Why was this all still scary? You and Korra have been on a number of dates. This one shouldn't be any different.
But it was.
Because you'd be dining with rich people. God, you just realized you didn't even know proper table manners. Like, yeah you knew how to behave yourself at a table but not rich people level.
Though you quickly relaxed remembering Korra was in the same boat as you. Even if she was the Avatar, her manners... could use a little work.
You made it to the first level of the Temple, Korra standing by the front door and waiting for you. Styled similarly to how she was during the last scene of the finale episode.
I couldn't find any decent pictures.
She noticed you and smiled, taking in your appearance with a soft blush on her cheeks.
"You look... wow. Now I feel underdressed." She looks down at her own outfit and you can't help but laugh, smiling and taking her hand in yours.
"You look perfect." You assure her, a blush on your cheeks matching the one on Korra's.
Korra gives you a soft kiss, though you don't let her pull away and instead continue it for a moment. Your lips moving against each others in soft, rhythmic motions before your lips finally part. Separated by a mere inch or so as you looked into each other's eyes.
Your hand squeezed hers and she leads you out of the Temple, heading to your date spot.
The rest of the night flows smoothly. The two of you enjoying your meals, having conversation after conversation. Talking about anything and everything from latest bending techniques to latest interests. The hours tick by and you haven't even realized how long it's been. Just enjoying have a night off to be with each other.
It was nice focusing on your relationship rather than the world.
Guilty love two
Pairing: Toji Fushiguro x chubby reader
Part 1, part 3.
Warning: Ausgt, Thoughts of abortion, Unrequired love?Dilf Toji, Pregnancy, Sad Megumi, Arguments, Age gap, Soft-Meanie Toji, Lovemaking, Creampie, Daddy kink, Marking, Breeding kink, Impregnation kink, Mirror sex, Spanking, bathroom sex, Protectiveness, Allusion miscarriage.
Summary: Loving Toji Fushiguro wasn't easy, especially if you weren't supposed to. You're just the babysitter and a side piece to him, your guilt finally reached its peak when Toji and his girl decided to upgrade their relationship. So with a heavy heart, you left but it seemed you couldn't escape Toji just like that.
Tumblr media
'Well, I got what I wished for' you thought bitterly, walking into your apartment, reminiscing about your begging Toji for a baby. What were you gonna do? You sat down your purse at the coffee table and flopped onto your couch, you could always abort it but..this thing, this baby, you placed a hand on your stomach, it was a part of him. Could you go through getting rid of it? You would never have Toji the way you wanted him, so why lose something you never would get from him again? So you were still young but Toji paid you well Besides you always wanted Megumi as yours. It's decided, you were gonna keep it.
Now this begged another question. Should you tell him? Would he even care? You don't believe he would. So that answers that question, You could do this with or without his help.
The following weeks were pure hell. Your favorite food made you sick and the foods you disliked are your new favorites. And regardless of what you ate, it came back up with a revengeful fever, most mornings spent on the cool tile, by the toilet waiting for a wave of nausea to rip itself from you into the said toilet. The support from your girlfriends made it more worth it, anything you needed and wanted was put in your arms. Hangouts were filled with laughter, jokes of their 'innocent' friend was knocked up before them, and how 'motherly' you already were, you haven't smiled as much in your life. But thoughts of Megumi and Toji still plugged your mind, was Toji happy? was Megumi? Did neither of them miss you or have they erased anything that reminds them of you? You'd wasted the day if it wasn't for Asami, she was your rock when nothing else could be. She encouraged, protected, and lifted you at your lows, she became your family, and you thanked whatever or whoever was listening and watching up in the sky.
After weeks and weeks of hellish morning sickness, a mouth passed and your belly grew with a living being. You were out shopping alone when you saw Megumi well he saw you "BABA!!!" a little voice screamed, a little boy ran towards you as fast as his legs could carry him, fat tears flew off his cheeks "Megi?" you muttered as you stepped closer as the boy came closer, he immediately jumped into your chest when he got to you. Fast reflexes graced you as you caught Megumi, The boy shoved his face into your neck, his sobs jerking his small body "There you are you stupid brat!" a mean old-looking woman came forward glaring at the boy in arms, she lunged for him but you pulled back with a heated glare "Don't call him that." you hissed, "Who are you?" the older woman snapped back "I'm his rightful babysitter." you held him closer "Then take care of the little shit, it's not any skin off my back." She huffed before storming away. Oooh, you wanted to deck her straight in her wrinkled face but you didn't need to scare Megumi more than he already was.
"Wanna go home, Wanna go home," he repeated, pulling back to look at you, his eyes puffy and red. "Oh baby, I'll take you home." you gently cooed, rubbing his back "Your father must be so worried-" "No! Don't want to see him! Wanna go home with you!" he cried, holding onto you tight as if he was afraid you'd disappear "Okay, Okay. We'll go home." you kissed his forehead. It was a bit difficult to hold the sleeping boy in one arm and a bag of baby clothes, snacks, and clothes in the other but you managed. You sighed as you sat down on the couch, little Megumi sleeping on your lap, he refused to let you go. Your hand rested upon his spikey hair as you stared at your phone, Toji's contact number glaring at you. You couldn't just let him wonder where his son was, you can't do that.
You
Hey..I have Megumi at my place, he's sleeping. When he wakes up I'll bring him back.
Toji Fushiguro.
Okay. Thanks.
You turned off your phone. Wow did you honestly expect something different? Not really. You rolled your shoulders and looked at the ceiling, the sun cast an orange glow as it began to set and let the moon have its time to light up the night. Megumi started to wake up a good seventeen minutes "Baba?" he whispered as he rubbed his sleepy eyes "Hey Megumi" you smiled softly at him "It's you!." He sat up straight like he had risen from the grave and jumped up, warping his arms around your neck. "I missed you" he muttered, like it was a secret he was ashamed to say "Do you hate me now?" he asked quietly If he was talking by your ear you wouldn't have heard it. A painful ache filled your heart before going away "No, no baby I can never hate you." You pulled back so you could see his face, If the words hurt his sad face hurt worse, his eyes were glossy, and his lips quivered. "Promise?" he looked at you, pleading you to say yes "I promise." You held up your pinkie and that got a giggle out of the boy, he linked his pinkie around yours and squeezed it before hugging you again "Baba?" "Yes, Megi?" "You've gotten bigger." Ouch, that would've hurt if you weren't pregnant "Well that's what happens when a woman is pregnant." you replied "What does 'Pregnant' mean?" he moved back and got comfortable in your lap, his eyes looking at you with curiosity. "It means that she was a baby boy or girl in her belly" "You ate baby!" his eyes widened in terror "No, No. It happens when a man and a woman love each other, and with their love, a new life is created. The baby stays safely in the mom's belly until the baby is ready to come out." "Ooh," Megumi said simply, nodding like he understood. You looked at the clock it was close to his bedtime "Come, it's time to go home." You lift him off your lap "I am home." he looked at his feet "You know what I am." You said softly and took his hand, Together you walked to the place you wished you'd never see again.
You knocked on the door. A groan and footsteps were all you heard before Toji swaged out the door, he wore grey sweatpants that hung on his hips and a tight black tank top, that showed off his bulging biceps and chest more than his usual black t-shirt, and his hair was its normal messy style and his jade eyes seemed greener. His orbs traced down your body, slowly dragging his tongue across his lips to the scar. "I-I'll be goin'-" "Baba's pregnant." Megumi blurted out, Suddenly Toji's irises snapped back up to your face, "Megi, go to ya room. Now." he ordered not looking away, Megumi said a quick goodbye and then scurried off. "So You're pregnant?" he asked bluntly, an unreadable look in his eyes "Yes, I am." You looked at his shoulders, too scared to look into those green pools "How many months?" he stuffed his hands in his pockets nonchalantly "One month." you whispered "Come again?" he moved closer to you "One month." you spoke louder, neither of you spoke for a minute "It's mine?" Toji assumed simply and you nodded "Yeah.."
Toji hummed "We'll get your shit tomorrow." he walked back into the penthouse "What?" you walked in before the door closed "If you thinkin' that 'm finna let you stay, pregnant, With my baby, by yourself? Then you must've got me fucked up Babydoll." he walked into the kitchen, rummaging around in the refrigerator for a drink. You follow after him, ready to protest but he turns to you and gives you that look again. "I'm just g-gonna go umm..lie down. Now." You looked away and gulped, hurrying to his bedroom on autopilot. Why was it that easy for you to submit to him, You didn't know and you started not to care as you lay on the bed, sleep creeping it's way to you.
Toji didn't expect to see you soon again, he didn't expect you'd be pregnant, by his baby never less, but it's been a month, you decided to keep it and He may have done bad shit in the past and yeah he could be a cruel bastard but he'd never make you feel like you had to abort it or go without help. It's not like he had thought of knocking you up, to see that pregnancy glow on you, see you struggle to do things because of your soft tummy growing bigger with his son or daughter getting in the way or to feel you in his arms at night, talking to his baby and you, fast asleep. He knew you'd be a great mother and shit he knew Himari would hate knowing you were staying with him but she ain't the saint she pretends she is. He saw those little text messages between her pathetic 'boy toy' or her little brags to her envious friends about how she got him 'pussy whipped', That never failed to make Toji laugh. The little girl thinks she knows the rules of the game but Toji played this game longer than she had. Why he was gonna marry her? He didn't know and he wouldn't admit to it either. Toji took one last sip of his beer before trashing it and stood up from the couch, he yawned as he walked to his bedroom, he stopped at the entrance of the door, his eyes taking in the you-shaped lump in his bed. Toji shook his head and his scar twitched as he walked to the unoccupied space, on his way he threw his tank top and took his sweats off leaving only his black boxers on. He laid behind you and pulled you against his chest, draping his arm over your stomach.
Toji hasn't slept that well since you left.
As he had said, Toji helped you gather the things you deemed you had to have and move them into his house. Megumi was beaming ear to ear when he saw your stuff in his home, it was like his dream was coming true. It was like you were a family, eating dinner together each night, game nights it..it was like you were his mother, he always wanted that. When you left it like his world no longer had any happiness, he knew it had something to do with his dad, he saw your face the day before you left him, the pain in your face made him want to cry you shouldn't be sad! You should be happy! He was so angry at his dad, that he didn't look nor talk to him, he was the cause of his pain, and he hated him but it all went away, You were back and that's all that mattered.
You have been living with Toji and Megumi for about two months, and it has been wonderful, The days were filled with laughter and smiles, but there were ups and downs too, Himari didn't bother to hide that she didn't like that were living with him or that the baby was his. Every time she was around, her glare burned into your skull, and you could see the rage surrounding her. She wouldn't do anything, she knew you knew that because Toji wouldn't let her. And Toji..he was so soft. There were times it was just you two, you would go out to pick clothes, toys, and anything the baby could want or need, Days where you'd go to eat someplace, and just..talk. He told you about his family, the things he had done and wasn't proud of, about his first love, he confided in you. There were nights when you'd wake up, and Toji sat up on his side of the bed, looking up at the moon, he did this every time he dreamed of her, Megumi's mother. He never wanted to talk about those dreams so you'd just move closer to him, and rest your forehead against his solid back, the tense muscles relaxing from your touch, and he'd turn around, eyes meeting yours, words unspoken but seen and it always ended with the rest of the night, spent sleeping in each other's arms. He was becoming your rock and it seemed, you hoped you were becoming his.
Toji watched Himari order something off the menu of the fancy restaurant that she insisted they go to. He hadn't said a word to her since he picked her up and he didn't want, everything about her, Toji couldn't help comparing her to you. You're kind, never one to judge anybody for wearing something out of 'fashion' or saying something you didn't agree with. You knew his boundaries and you never tried to push them. You never asked for more, and were always humble and grateful for the things you get. And the way your eyes lit up when you talked about something you were passionate about or even disliked, the way he felt at peace just being in your presence.
And the way you felt in his arms, your pudgy form made him so relaxed, worries that he hid so well faded away when he held you at night. Oh how can he forget the times when he did more than just hold you, it has been a while since he had you like that but fuck. Those thick fuckin'-crush-a-mans- skull-thighs wrapped around his slim waist, his hand grippin' your neck as his hardened cock drives into your gummy pussy walls and how he loved when he'd pick you up, the worry and terror in your eyes would be quelled down as he lifts you into the air and drops you down on his length, without a waiver in his stance. Fuck he got to stop thinking about that or he'll get a boner and he didn't need Himari thinking it was for her when he didn't want to even talk to her. You were everything Himari wasn't, and he didn't love her, he never will. "It's over." he bluntly told Himari getting up from the table "What?!" she shot up, slamming her hands down on the round table, Toji put his hands in his dress pants and walked away "Is it because of that pregnant Bitch!?" She shouted gaining people's attention. Toji stopped dead in his tracks, and the whole restaurant held their baited breaths as they felt a dangerous aura coming from Toji "What? She's all that now?" Himari stormed up to Toji, who simply turned to her with cold jade eyes "I'm so-" she tried to start but the tight grip of Toji's hand on her jaw stopped her, Terror welled in her cat-like eyes as she saw the murderous glint in his irises "There's a tip, you ain't hot shit. So don't go mouthin' off on my girl, all you ever gonna be is a toy. Don't ever come around my place again unless you don't want a jaw." he let go of her jaw before he walked out and into his car, driving home.
It was you, he loved you and he was too blind to realize until now but it wasn't too late. He slammed the car door, he needed to see you, he had to tell you what he felt. The trip up the elevator was agonizingly slow, and his heartbeat pulsed within his ears. He found you looking in the mirror at yourself, turned to the side, in the master bathroom, You appeared to have just gotten out of the shower, Toji bit back a groaned at the sight of your naked body, it's been too long. "Fuck babydoll, are ya trying to kill me?" he leaned his arm again the door, his hand unbuttoning his dress shirt "Toji!" you gasped, backing away "That's not my name, doll" he stepped closer, moving on to shrugging off his suit jacket flinging both his shirt and jacket on the floor by the shower, "Daddy?" you mumbled uncertainly "Atta girl." he pulled you into his chest and his lips locking yours. Your eyes widen, his kiss had such passion and want, Was this..real? It didn't matter, your eyes closed, and your tongues swirled around each other, dancing as your lips massaged his, The scar you so longed to feel gave a rough edge but you loved it all the same. Suddenly you were pushed away, turned around, and faced the mirror, eyes lidded and lips turning a different shade, hands on the sink, You watched Toji take off his pants and underwear, the last things between you gone. His emerald orbs watched you through the mirror as he leaned down and kissed your shoulder before he whispered in your ear "I'm fallin' for you." Tears built in your eyes, words you dreamed of hearing from him became true. The tip of his cock, slid between your wet folds, coating it in a glistening essence, and catching on your entrance, which got wetter on every slide "Ready?" he asked before letting some of his saliva drop on his dick, lubricating himself with his spit "Please Daddy, need it!" you begged, wiggling your hips in an attempt to incite him enough to fuck you already. You yelped as a sharp slap met your left butt cheek, and he lined his thick cock to your core, thrusting into you, till your outer lips kissed his base. His firm chest lay against your back and his hands held onto your hips, his lips sucking on your shoulder and his eyes never strayed from your own, his hips drew back, and then snapped forward, his head bumping your cervix with every hard but slow pump, shot jolts of pleasure, Toji wasn't fucking you, no he was making love to you. You cried out when Toji moved you both back, and picked you up, your back still against his ripped chest and your knees held up by his hands, this position shows a perfect view of his cock pounding up into your messy cunt, a creamy ring formed on the base of his dick, created by your juices and his pre-cum. "Fuck! Fuccckk" you mewled, your climax became closer and closer, as Toji now used you like a fucktoy, lifting you up and down on his member, the slapping of your skin with his echoed throughout the bathroom, and the scent of sex was overwhelming "So fuckin' beautiful pregnant with my baby, should've gotten knocked you up sooner." Toji groaned, your pussyhole clenched hard at his dirty words "Hehe, like the sound of that..ahh-fuck..Does babydoll want Daddy to keep her nice and pregnant? Fuck-yeah..Gonna give Daddy a big family." he thrusted quicker, chasing both your climaxes, "'m gonna cummmmm." you babbled, a small bit of drool escaped your lips "Cum, baby." he bit your neck. Your body shook as you orgasmed, Toji grunted as his semen filled your pussy, stuffing your already full cunt. "Fuck Babydoll, careful." Toji laughed as you almost fell when he sat you down on your feet "Shut up." you smacked his abs, making him laugh more.
You both cleaned up before heading to bed, his arms held you in a sleepy embrace, and your head lay on his shoulder, with happiness and love, you fall asleep, now a happy family. Groaning, you stumbled out of bed and into the bathroom, the sudden urge to pee had taken over, you turned on the light and sat on the toilet. You sighed as you finished your business, You were washing your hands when you felt something go down your legs.
Red was all you saw when you looked down.
Bloody red, a puddle of blood.
Tenzin: "now THAT is Aang's son right there. That shit was bad-fucking-ass."
Bumi: "again, now THAT is Aang's son. THOSE are his children. Not the shitty adults we saw last season"
Kya: "a lesbian?" Me: "doesn't get confirmed til the comics" Her: "oh for FUCKS SAKE"
Jinora: "i love her i cherish her she's the smartest and most powerful character in this show she beats everyone else"
Korrasami isn't perfect and it's not one of my favorites, but it will always be better than Kataang for me. They didn't have to dumb down or regress Korra or Asami's characters to make it work, their ending leaves a lot more room for growth and relationship development than Kataang does, and Asami wasn't presented as Korra's prize for being the hero. They both get to keep their autonomy.
It also doesn't feel one-sided. It feels like two women who are not only coming to terms with their sexuality, but also relatively new feelings for one another and exploring that together. I wish more people understood that
AGREED. Just because they’re both canon ships doesn’t mean they’re alike. I mean Korra had gone through some serious shit and had been held responsible for her actions way more than Aang ever was, so Korrasami was never going to have that “Perfect Avatar and Doting Girlfriend” dynamic. Unlike Aang, Korra was narratively not rewarded for liking someone and acting like she’s entitled to them just because she’s the Avatar. Unlike Aang, Korra actually undergoes an evolution in how she interacts with her love interest’s parental trauma and learns to be a better friend. Neither Korra nor Asami pushed for a relationship or tried to win the other over, even though they realized their feelings way before they got together. Like you said, it feels a lot more mutual. Imo, Korrasami was better written than Ka/taang even though it had way less development, because — probably due to 2010s Nick censorship — they couldn’t resort to will-they won’t-they romance tropes that send conflicting messages about what the characters want and what is good for them. Most of their romantic development had to be platonic in nature, and Bryke are much better at writing meaningful platonic relationships than romantic ones, so this worked out in Korrasami’s favour.
In some ways, Korrasami actually reminds me a little bit of Sukka. Like Suki, Asami is super competent, super gorgeous, and didn’t need to compromise herself for this relationship, though she did have to teach some lessons to her eventual partner. Asami was never set up as a deuteragonist (unlike Katara) and I don’t mind her narrative weight being tied to that of her love interest, especially since — as previously stated — much of that romantic development was platonic.
Brother & Bestie: The Roy Problem
Summary: Still keeping a secret from your bestie your new fuck buddie tries to solve the problem.
1.9k
Dick Grayson x Reader
Warnings: SMUT 18+, edging, fingering, piv, blackmail.
The First Time
"Dick, you still haven't told me what you're going to do about Roy. What if he tells Jay? We're fucked," you start to pace around your kitchen, "we'll I'm fucked. Not like he's going to kill his brother." You sigh, planting your head on the kitchen counter.
"I'm handling it. Don't stress yourself over it," he leans down, kissing into your hair, "it'll be fine," his hands wrap around your middle pulling you up to hug you from behind, "I gotta go. Stay here and try not to spiral okay."
"I'll try, but I make zero promises."
"Good girl," he steps towards the door checking his phone, but just as he's about to leave he turns to face you, "and Pet, if he was to find out from Roy. I'd be in way more trouble than you." He shuts the door leaving you to reel in that statement until he gets back.
Xx
"Mr Harper, take a seat." Dick smirks at the younger man.
"What is this Grayson? You trying to intimidate me?" Roy tries to sound confident, but it comes across as the opposite.
"Nope, just wanted to talk."
"About what?"
"Exactly. Nothing. I just wanted to show you something." He opens his laptop, a file sitting on it labeled Harper's Harpies. "Thought you might want to see this."
"What is this? Blackmail? Didn’t think you’d sink this low."
"No, I just wanted to remind you that you did things that maybe you weren't proud of and that maybe you'd like Little Wing not to know about."
"You're not proud of her? Should be, you know Jay told me about the talk you guys had."
"Which talk was that?"
"When he asked you not to fuck her. To keep that fuckboy dick of yours in your pants. Don't know why he hasn't noticed yet, how long has it been going on?"
"None of your business."
"So you are fucking her."
"Look Roy," he leans down on the table, "I don't care if Jay knows. But she does, so I am asking you not to tell him." He changes tactics, knowing how the outlaws feel about you, "I know you guys have your banter, but you wouldn't do this to her would you?"
"Using her to save your skin? Not very classy Grayson."
"Blackmail didn't work, so yeah. She is though, she thinks he'll kill her."
"Kill you more like."
"You think I don't know that?” he runs his hands through his dark hair, “Please just keep it to yourself."
"Do you love her?"
"What a question." He sits down, resting his head in his hands. Dick sighs, does he love you? He could, he sees it when he goes to sleep at night. But what is this to you? He doesn't know.
"You're scared, I get it." Roy stands, "We’ve been friends a while and I love you, man. I won’t tell him, but you should. Keeping this going in secret isn’t good for anyone. Just promise me you’ll delete this and think long and hard about what you’re going to do and we're even."
"Didn’t think you cared about Jay seeing it?”
“I don’t, but I still don’t want it floating around.”
“Thank you." Dick clicks delete on the file, then looks up from his hands to see the pitying look on Roy's face as he opens the front door.
"I’m not doing it for you.” he pauses one foot already out of the door, “And Grayson,"
"Yeah."
"If you hurt her, even slightly as badly as Asami did. You will get twice the punishment," He slams the door and leaves Dick to dwell on his feelings.
Xx
"What happened? What did he say? Is he going to tell him?" You swarm Dick with questions as he comes through your  door.
"Told ya I'd sort it, but Pet-" he's cut off when you jump into his arms, yours wrapping around his neck as your legs hold you close to him.
"Thank you, thank you," you liter his face with kisses. His hands sink into your ass grinding you down onto his cock.
"We should talk, I need to"
"Later, please. Please Dick."
"Okay Pet, later." His fingers slip under your dress, pulling your panties to the side, "you need me now don't you?"
"Yes, right now."
"So needy for me," he pushes your back into the wall, his fingers flicking through your pussy stopping to rub at your clit, "so desperate for my touch," his face pushes into your neck, licking and sucking at the soft flesh, "my pretty little pet. You've been such a good girl for me. You deserve a reward."
"Please," your nails dig into his back, gripping his shirt and pulling it over his head, "want to feel your skin."
"Hmm, smart girl. Clean these for me." He shoves his fingers in your mouth and when he's satisfied he pulls your dress up over your head, "no bra, Pet? Fuck, you really are perfect," his lips seal around your nipple while your hands fiddle with the button on his jeans, "there's no rush, let me take my time with you. I'll make you feel so good." His fingers thrust back into you, his teeth biting down on your nipple while his tongue flicks over it.
"Yes, fuck." You dress down onto him, your tit pressing out into his face. You can feel your release edging closer, your pussy clenching on his fingers while your tits tingle in his mouth.
"Can feel you getting close Pet," he mumbles his kisses moving up your body, "don't you cum."
"But you said you-"
"I promise to make you feel good. Trust me," his voice now in your ear, "do you trust me?"
"Really? Aladdin? Right now?"
"Stopped you from cumming didn't I?"
"Yes. You dick."
Grayson laughs, pulling his fingers from you and starting to walk down the hall towards your bedroom.
He drops you on the bed and drops his pants almost as fast. "Bring that pretty pussy to me, Pet." His fingers dig into your thighs, pulling you down to the edge of the bed. His face is buried in your pussy as he starts to lick you up.
"Fuck, give a girl a chance."
"No Pet. No chance," he smiles into your pussy before slowing down, his lips pressing their way into your inner thigh, "do you want me to stop?"
"No, don't stop."
"And your safewords?"
"Lance Tucker." You start to thrust up into his face.
"Good Pet," his tongue licks at you, laps at you, his fingers slipping inside you, "I know your body so well, Pet." His fingers split, spreading you open, and holding your cunt apart, "better than even you."
"Di- fuuc- I. AHhh."
"Like that noise means you're going to cum soon."
Your hands fist the sheets your heels digging into nothing as you try and find leverage go push your pussy further into dicks face, "dick, more, I need-"
"I know exactly what you need, Pet," he mumbles into you, "you need to hold it."
"Yes, I can-"
"I want you to want it" he starts to suck on your clit and when your pussy starts to pulse around him he stops, "I want you to want me."
"I do."
"Do you want me or do you just wanna cum?" His breath grazes over you, his finger just toying with you, "be honest."
"I want you to make me cum." you pant, squirming in the sheets as he climbs over you, crowding you into the mattress.
"That's a great answer, Pet. Because why?"
"Noone can make me cum like you can."
"Fucking right." Dick hoists your legs up over his shoulders,  bending you in half as he kisses you deeply, "and Pet." His cock parts you, teasing you so bad it makes you shiver.
"Dick," you grab at his face, pulling his down down a deep kiss.
"Noone takes my cock as well as you." He shoves himself inside you grinding his pelvis down onto yours, his cock making you feel so full and fuck, you're so close already.
"Dick, if you don't stop that i-"
"I know, Pet. I can feel it."
"Fufk, can you, stop."
"No, I want it all." He grinds down harder, "all your cum," his nails dig into your thighs, his lips stealing another kiss, "it's mine Pet." You feel his cock throb inside you, "give it to me," he bites down on your lip, growling into your mouth, "give all of yourself to me."
"Ah, fukdk dick, I hwhs-" you moan a jumble of words that gets lost as your brain starts to melt and your legs start to chase. You can feel your pussy sucking dicks cock in, feel it hitting ao deep inside you and when he bites you again you lose your mind as you shatter underneath him.
He doesn't stop, instead changing movement to slam his hips into you. "Fuck, you take it so well," he drops your legs wrapping them around his hips, "draw me in, Pet." His hand holds your face, "look at me," you try but your eyes are so close to just rolling away to space, "stay here," he kisses you as if to keep your mind on this plane, "stay with me, Pet. Don't float away on me."
"I'm here," you flutter your lashes, trying to focus on those pretty blue eyes staring down onto you.
"Good girl, stay with me," he continues to pound into you, fucking you so full. But you keep your eyes on him and fuck if his smiles doesn't make this harder, make you want to cum harder, make you want to take him every moment of every day, "you’re doing so well for me, Pet."
Your hands grip at his shoulders as your back starts to lift from the mattress and he hits so deep within you. His cock throbs inside you, his Pacing becoming erratic as he changes his release inside you. It's so fucking hot the way he uses you like this, like you're his own little fuck toy, "Dick, I'm getting close again."
"Just let it out," he moans, "let all of it out and I'll follow you."
You pull him down for another  kiss, your legs tightening around him and holding him so hard that he can barely move his hips to fuck you. "Fuck Dick," you fuck up onto him, pushing him further and deeper inside you.
"Yes, yes let. Fuck- I can feel it, you. God-" your cunt pulses and clenches down so hard on him, your body goes into full shakes as you cum on him. The sight of you losing yourself like this sends Dick over the edge and he cums so hard that his muscles tense and he collapses on top of you. Your legs are still holding him deep inside.
"Fuck, Dick. You ok?" You ask, your pussy still twitching around him.
"Hmm, sleepy. Are you alright?" He sits up, giving you space to breathe and inspecting the marks on your thigh, "do they hurt?"
"No. I like the sting.".
"Course ya do. Little degenerate." He pulls out of you, rolling onto his side and pulling you up to him and kissing your forehead.
"That was kind of intense." You angle into him, squirming at the cum dripping from you.
"Intense bad?"
"Just new. Any reason for that?"
"Maybe, maybe I just think you needed a treat. My pretty pet." He angles your face up so he can give you a sweet kiss.
"And Roy?" You finally ask.
"Let's not talk about hmHarper right now. Can we just cuddle in peace?"
"I guess. But we will talk about it, right?"
"Yeah," he pulls the comforter up over the both of you, "later."
Spirit World Vacation Canon Version
Wanted more from Turf Wars, so wrote this. Note, the song that Korra sings is a slightly altered version of the song Kyoshi sings to Rangi. If you all like it, I can continue it. (Though honestly, I'm convinced they kissed before the "official kiss" in Turf Wars. I think Asami just wanted to kiss her again. And again. And all the time probably.) EDIT: Per your request, I'll update on Sundays here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/50312500 (Four more chapters are planned.) ___
Vacationing in the Spirit World
Asami Sato planned things meticulously. She designed to the last bolt. Attempted to anticipate all possible scenarios and account for them. This had proven to her advantage while fighting at Korra's side. It did not prove her advantage for a vacation. Especially one spur of the moment decided at a wedding.
A certain thrill filled Asami at the fact Korra and her were sneaking away. Made her feel years younger, although they did tell two people. Bolin, simply because they knew he'd never keep it a secret which was what they hoped for, and Jinora, mostly because she'd caught Asami in the women's dormitory with a backpack and wearing her engineering outfit.
"Where are you going?" Jinora asked, confused.
Awkward. Asami had never lied to the teenager, and she wasn't about to start now. "Korra and I are sneaking out for a vacation. We badly need it. Give us a day or so and then tell the others?"
Jinora grinned and launched herself into Asami. "Of course! I'm so glad you two are finally admitting it!" She hugged Asami's waist tightly. "Thought you never would."
Asami patted Jinora's back. "Thanks… wait. Wait, are you saying Korra…?"
Surely that was wishful thinking on her part. Asami was the one in love. Not Korra, right?
Jinora released her and blushed. "Well… you should just ask her! Okay bye!" Spinning on her heel, she raced out of the dorm, leaving Asami to stare after her.
She'd confided in Jinora by accident during the three year sojourn. It had been after she'd brought over her newly completed airbending suits. Having them fitted on the testing subjects and marking out the results of tests had been exhausting. Not physically more emotionally. All of Air Temple Island reminded Asami of Korra to the point of pain. It had been not quite two years then, and she'd yet to receive Korra's letter.
Jinora had found her sitting in the pavilion in tears.
Asami Sato prided herself on having a handle on her emotions. To her chargin, she'd blurted it all out to Jinora after she asked why Asami was crying. At least Jinora honored her promise and never told anyone. Though her teasing about the park and the statue Asami had built had been relentless.
The price one paid for confessions Asami supposed.
Korra waited for her on the far side of the island, near the cliffs, though why she'd picked this spot was beyond Asami.
Again, the lack of plan grated. Was she really doing this? Really going alone with Korra into the Spirit World?
Seeing Korra standing by the cliff with her own backpack, the wind blowing her short hair around her face, Asami gulped and slid to a stop, stunned yet again by her beauty. Why did Korra have to look so perfect? The bulge of her muscles in her tunic and sleeves, the soft waves of her golden brown hair, the deep brown of her skin tone that seemed to shine in the setting sun.
Having Korra back meant the world to Asami, but she had not anticipated nor planned for the devastatingly intense emotions seeing Korra's physique could do to her.
Asami prided herself on her fitness routines. She was an accomplished martial artist, and yet she was being utterly undone by Korra standing and looking at a sunset. Her dojo master would be shaking his head at her lack of self-control.
Get a grip, Sato, she told herself sternly. It's not like she had definitive proof that Korra liked her back, let alone loved her the way Asami loved everything about her.
Korra turned right at that instant and grinned. "Asami!" Oh. Oh. That smile, the brilliance of it.
Asami Sato had cataloged many of Korra's expressions, especially her smiles. Korra had thirteen different flavors of smiles for a variety of occasions. Asami might have drawn all of them in her Idea Journal, but she wasn't about to admit that. Not yet.
This smile, however, did not fit the other thirteen. No, no, this was new.
She needed to document this. Draw it. Record the evidence. Or rather, speak. Yes. Words were a thing people did, correct?
"Hi."
Oh spirits, did she really just say hi to Korra? She really was a lovesick fool.
Korra skipped down to her. "Hi back. You ready to go?" She grasped Asami's hand and squeezed it.
Oh, oh, this was a thing they did now? Asami knew she was grinning like an idiot. So much for her composure. She nodded and did her best to swallow the urge to cry and wrap Korra in a hug so tight. Or worse kiss her. She still hadn't confirmed what this was. No, no, she had to wait. Gather more evidence. Maybe actually talk. Yes. Asami could indeed talk. Words were necessary for communication.
"Yes, yes, let's go…"
Wait.
Asami looked around and realized they had no transportation off the island. This was nowhere near the docks, but then to use those meant dealing with the wedding, and they'd never escape then. "Uh, transportation?"
Korra laughed. "I thought I'd get us there. But you'll have to hold on tight, okay?"
"Okay." Asami would do anything Korra asked at this point, especially when that brilliant smile was leveled at her. As heightened as her senses were to Korra's every move, she saw Korra's arm move toward her, and she stepped immediately into Korra's side and wrapped her arms tightly around Korra's chest.
Korra held her tightly against her, just like she had when they'd jumped off the train bridge with Mako and Wu.
Asami knew the jump was next, but despite anticipating it, the leap still caught her by surprise, as did the fact Korra was surfing the waves with her. They flew at a far faster speed than expected, and Asami found herself whooping at the thrill of it. Why had they never done this before? This was fantastic!
Korra laughed and guided them to the docks of Republic City, right where Asami had parked her Satomobile earlier that evening.
Asami's legs felt like water when Korra swept them up onto the dock. She held on for a moment longer, no longer caring who stared, because Korra was holding her waist still, and looking at her, and Asami could kiss her.
No, she shouldn't kiss her. Not yet.
"Uh, I… I'll drive us there…" Or as close as she could get them considering the devastation to the city. And the giant mech that lay sprawled in pieces across the Spirit Wilds. Oh and the Spirit Wilds themselves, which seemed to be half a giant vine crater with a portal in the center.
Asami needed an off road version of her precious blue satomobile. The one she'd made in honor of Korra, like most things in those three years honestly. She found she wasn't the slightest embarrassed. Korra deserved it. She'd always deserve it.
"Right." Korra released Asami and laughed, nervously. "Right. Uh. I'm glad you're driving."
Asami raised an eyebrow. "I recall our one lesson. Don't think you're getting out of a second one." She wagged her finger at Korra. "I'll get you to drive one of these days, Avatar Korra."
That got a solid laugh from the most beautiful and lovable woman in the world. Oh, Asami really could kiss her, but instead, she linked her pinky with Korra's and led her across the quay to where a line of vehicles were parked, her precious satomobile being quite a ways from the others. Purposely placed to avoid anyone daring to bump it. Not to her surprise, Korra hopped over the side of the vehicle to land in the passenger seat. Only to remember she still wore her backpack. She dumped it at her feet with a sheepish grin.
Asami stowed hers in the backseat and settled into the driver’s side. The silence between them felt comforting almost, not at all tense as she’d feared while packing. She headed down the street, and considered the route, careful to avoid the worst of the damage. Thinking about it would depress her about how she’d have to rebuild the damn city again, but well, maybe someone else could worry about starting that. She’d certainly left a long enough letter with the courier for her project management team and assistant.
“So… why’s your satomobile blue? Don’t you normally drive black ones?” Korra tapped her knuckles against the side of the satomobile.
The question startled Asami out of her thoughts. She glanced at Korra and smirked. “You really don’t know?”
Korra looked at her, blankly.
Asami laughed. Oh, this was precious. “What color are you wearing, Korra?”
Korra looked down at her clothes. “Uh… blue?”
Asami nodded and drummed her fingers against her steering wheel. Another glance out the corner of her eye witnessed Korra’s confusion that slowly changed to understanding.
“OH. You painted it blue because I wear blue? In honor of my people?”
Asami stopped the vehicle to turn and stare at Korra in disbelief. “What? I asked what you wore… not…” She reran the conversation in her head and couldn’t follow Korra’s logic train. Did she have to bluntly say it? Asami could feel the blush burning her ears and spreading to her neck.
“Me. Oh. In honor of me.” Korra studied her for a long moment. “Huh. That’s actually really sweet.”
Asami started up the drive again, convinced her face was now beet red. Well, Korra had seen her at her worst. A blush wasn’t the end of the world, right?
The route grew more convoluted the closer they came to the epicenter of the destruction, and finally, Asami gave up. She found a relatively safe location to park her vehicle, and flipped the switch to bring up the hood. Korra jumped, her eyes wide, as the hood elongated and clanked into place above her windshield.
“Wait, could all your satomobiles do that?”
Asami smirked, amused. “Yes. What did you think we’d do if it rained?”
“Uh, huh, you know, I never even thought about that.” Korra tapped her bottom lip. “Now it makes perfect sense.”
“Oh you are adorable.” Asami hadn’t meant to say it out loud, but she had, and Korra looked at her with a blush. Now they were both blushing. This was a sign, right? Korra wouldn’t blush unless she felt similarly? Asami could hear Jinora’s words in her head, where she’d assumed the two of them had finally admitted… whatever Jinora knew.
"And you aren't?" Korra teased.
Oh, oh, how frustrating. Asami could no longer tell if that was a friendly banter like old times or something more. She desperately wanted it to be something more.
She hurriedly exited the vehicle, and then had to backtrack to grab her backpack. Korra watched her, looking amused by how flustered Asami had become. How utterly rude. To lean against her vehicle looking so incredibly hot and amused by how much Asami was blushing? She’d have to get Korra back somehow.
That, of course, required a plan.
Which lead her back to the original problem. “What is our plan exactly?”
“We go on vacation!” Korra slid on her backpack and walked around the vehicle to fall into pace next to Asami. “By walking into the Spirit Portal. Perhaps the most crucial part of the plan.” She walked sideways to bestow Asami with that absolutely mind-melting smile.
Oh, how cruel. So, so cruel. To look that kissable and yet all this space was between them. Asami sighed but she couldn’t resist smiling back. “Fine. What is the plan after entering the portal?”
Korra blinked. “Oh. Well, we walk! And explore.”
Asami raised an eyebrow. “You have no plan.”
“You don’t either!” Korra slung her arm through Asami’s. “Besides, it’s way more fun to go with the flow, right? Be in the moment and relax.” She poked Asami’s side. “Are you capable of relaxing?”
Asami huffed. “I relax!”
Except, did she? Now that she actually thought about it, she hadn’t really had much time to herself to relax. Unless it involved bringing Korra tea. Now that Asami would drop everything to do. Even if the reasons she came up with were... a trifle ridiculous in hindsight.
Korra poked her again. “Riiiight. Ms. Workaholic. I read all your letters. I don’t think you took a single day off those three years, did you?”
“I…” Her protest died at the fact Korra had said all. “Wait, you read all my letters? All of them?” She could feel the blush creeping up again. “I… wrote you twice a week.”
Korra laughed. “Long ones too! And yes, I kept them at my bedside in a separate pile from the others. So I can get to them easier.”
“You… did?” Asami had no idea how to parse this information.
“Yeah, of course. I mean, why wouldn’t I?”
“Oh.”
Korra tugged Asami to a stop and turned her to face her directly. “Asami, I know… it took me a long time to write back, but I thought of you a lot. I mean. A lot, okay?”
“You did?” She was repeating herself now. Surely she could say something more intelligent, but her heart was beating so much faster, and tears stung her eyes. She took a deep breath to try to calm her racing heart. “I… thought of you every day,” she said quietly, and looked down at her boots.
Korra reached up and tucked a stray lock of Asami’s hair behind her ear. The gesture felt so intimate that Asami’s breath caught in her throat. She looked up to see Korra had tears in her eyes too. “How about we do our vacation then? Together?”
Together. Yes. Asami liked the sound of that. She nodded, unable to quite voice her thoughts, her heart too full of hope.
Eh, who needed a plan? Not when she had Korra at her side saying the sweetest things and slinging her arm through hers again. Maybe this time, Asami could let her anxieties go and just go with the flow. It couldn’t be that hard, right?
When they reached the edges of the portal, Asami reached out without thinking, only for Korra to do the same. Their hands bumped each other and then curled into a tight hold.
This was it then. The moment of truth. Time to walk into a portal. Asami stood staring at how it split the sky, it’s swirling golden-white light with its helix of pale green at its center. She’d been close to a portal before during the Water Tribe Civil War, but Korra had entrusted her with the getting her father to safety, so Asami hadn’t had a chance to truly look.
This beam of light somehow pierced both worlds to intertwine them together like that semi-transparent helix, but how did it work? Would it hurt? Was it instantaneous?
Korra chuckled. Gently, she pulled Asami toward her. “Now we walk in, you know.”
Asami laughed, nervously. “Right.”
Their nonexistent plan. She could do this. Especially with Korra holding her hands and giving her that affectionate look. Asami met her gaze with a smile, but then Korra grasped her other hand. Asami’s heart skipped a beat. Oh, oh, the expression Korra gave her, the one that made her knees weak, the urge to kiss her nearly overwhelming.
Slowly, Korra lead her into the portal while walking backward. Asami couldn’t look away as the light highlighted the hues of brown in Korra’s skin, the crinkles around her eyes from her smile, the soft look in her cerulean eyes.
Then the light cascaded around them, and for a moment in time, Asami felt this intense connection with everything. A breathtaking pulse of energy, that left her gasping when Korra gently tugged her through. She counted out her breaths until her breathing slowly calmed, her eyes focused on Korra, and only Korra.
How was Korra looking so calm and adorable? That tender smile was too much.
Asami almost leaned down to kiss her. Almost.
But the way the portal light reflected across Korra's gorgeous brown skin, the way it highlighted her magnificent muscles and curves -- Asami lost the ability to think or act. Only look and look and spirits, look.
If Korra hadn't gently tugged her hands, she might have continued to stand there, grinning like a lovesick fool for the rest of her life.
Or at least until she gathered up the nerve to just kiss her. That was where this was heading, right? Oh spirits, Asami hoped so.
That’s when the full reality hit her.
The Spirit World laid before her in a patchwork of landscapes. She released Korra's hands and stepped forward in amazement.
Mountains lined the valley, the peaks shrouded bit swirls of spirits or what Asami thought were clouds. A river meandered down its left side. Her eyes widened at the sight of a huge serpentine spirit swimming through the lazy waves of the river, blobs of possibly more spirits floating in its wake. Clusters of forest marked the edges of a wide plain of flowers, and to the far right a path curved through stone pillars. Near the stone pillars, massive birds walked the plains toward massive mushrooms. All of it so surreal, as if the world had been painted and sculpted.
This was not at all what she had expected. Asami had based her assumptions on Korra's and Jinora's descriptions, which had painted a world that shifted and molded to emotions, yet this landscape seemed oddly fixed. Maybe the alterations to the landscape happened more slowly than they claimed? Or was there stronger emotions needed to unlock such oddities? Her mind raced with possibilities, and she pondered what sort of experiments she could devise to test the limits of this odd emotion force.
Was it only fear or anger or more negative emotions that caused such changes? Or could any emotion alter the landscape? Could it alter the way the spirits responded?
“Welcome to the Spirit world," Korra said, startling Asami from her thoughts. Asami looked at her, and realized Korra still stood in the same spot, her eyes not at all on the world, but on her. A blush spread across her cheeks.
“I can’t believe I’m actually here!” Asami said, to try to distract herself from doing something stupid. Like grabbing Korra and kissing her.
Would Korra be okay with that?
It was a thought that had haunted her since she'd crashed into her at the restaurant for their reunion. She hadn't thought that through, but seeing Korra standing there? After three years? Asami's brain had ceased to function, and she couldn't even remember what she said. Only that she'd practically tackled Korra, their bodies pressed so tightly together that Asami could feel her heartbeat. Korra hadn't pulled away, but held on as if she needed it as much as Asami.
And in their interactions since that reunion, all of them had felt charged with an intensity that had left Asami wanting. Was that evidence that this was more than just friendship now?
Asami needed this connection with Korra to flourish, but as much as she had dreamed of this moment, she realized she had no idea what to do.
Asami's eyes raked over Korra's body for probably the millionth time since Korra's return, and once again, she settled on her lips. What would Korra's lips taste like?
No, no, thinking about kissing her wouldn't do. Not yet. Asami had to gather more evidence that this was mutual attraction, and not just Asami's wishful thinking.
Best to focus on anything else. Asami turned and strode through the flowers. She breathed in their sweet and tangy scent, and listened to the murmur of spirits and the whisper of wind through the vegetation.
Here she was, in the spirit world, with Korra. Korra was with her. Them alone in the Spirit World.
Okay, there simply was no objective way for her not to be a giddy, lovesick fool, was there?
Asami breathed out a sigh and looked back at Korra. This trying to distract herself was failing.
Korra lifted a finger and a spirit bird landed on it with a soft chirp.
How incredibly adorable. How was Asami going to survive this? The urge to tackle Korra and pepper her with kisses was maddening.
“The Spirit World is a pretty unpredictable place," Korra said. The bird chirped again and flew off. "You never know when the ground might drop right out from under you. So stay close, I don’t want us to get separated.”
“Me either…” Asami barely registered her words.
Ugh, she so desperately wanted to lean forward and kiss Korra, to taste her, to feel Korra’s strong arms wrap her in a tight hug, their hips pressed together. She needed to get a hold of herself.
It took some willpower, but she managed to look away toward the great valley ahead of them. “So… where do we start our vacation?” She had tried to settle on a nonchalant tone but failed when her desire crept into it anyway.
Korra laughed. "Walking forward might be a good start."
Asami rolled her eyes. "Beyond that. We need a plan. And you're the expert, right?"
Korra shrugged.
"Sure, like I said. Stick by me. And besides, it’s a vacation, Asami. Release the need to plan." She turned and grasped Asami’s shoulders with that heart-warming smile. “Your Avatar commands you.”
Your? Her brain halted on that word. Your, she said your. A nervous laugh escaped her.
If Korra wanted her to go with the flow, to live in the moment, then dammit Asami would do it. She'd do anything for Korra.
Shyly, Asami reached out and gently pushed a lock of Korra’s golden-brown hair from her eyes. Her fingers traced over Korra’s temple and ear. The Avatar didn’t pull away, only seemed to lean into the touch. This was really happening then. Korra might actually feel the same, that was the logical conclusion, surely? She couldn’t be misinterpreting this right?
Her hand trembled, and she dropped it, suddenly uncertain.
A dragon-bird swooped across the valley and screed a greeting.
Asami jumped, startled.
Korra turned with a laugh. She held up her hand in greeting, and the dragon-bird landed with a gust to gently nuzzle Korra’s side.
“Look like our ride’s here!” Korra tugged on Asami’s hand. “Come on, I’ll help you up!”
Asami placed a hand on Korra’s shoulder and then her foot in her Avatar’s hands. Effortlessly, Korra lifted her up.
Oh, oh. Korra's strength. Hot. Beyond hot. Boiling.
Right. She needed to pull herself up. Get ahold of yourself, Sato, she told herself sternly.
Asami grabbed hold of some of the feathers of the spirit and pulled herself up onto its back. Korra airbended herself into place in front of Asami.
“Hold on tight!” Korra instructed.
“Always,” Asami murmured. She slid her arms around Korra’s waist and pressed herself to her Avatar’s warm back. Maybe she didn't need to hold on this tightly, but Asami couldn't resist.
It took off in a whoosh, the wind blowing Korra’s hair back into Asami’s face, but she didn’t mind. Korra’s hair smelled like spice and jasmine, absolutely lovely. Korra laughed in delight, and Asami found herself grinning from ear to ear too.
Korra leaned forward and whispered something to the dragon-bird, and it curved in its flight. With a short dive, it landed near a forest of giant leaves that grew like trees. Dirt and grass blew briefly into the air to settle in a soft cloud.
Korra slid off first and held out her hands to Asami.
Asami laughed in delight as she slid off into Korra’s strong embrace. For a moment, Korra held her slightly off the ground, her arms around Asami’s waist.
Korra smiled, but this was unlike all the other smiles Asami had carefully cataloged. It crinkled the skin around her eyes, and her gaze held what looked almost like adoration.
Asami's hands gently parted Korra’s hair on both sides of her face. She trailed her fingers down her Avatar’s brown cheeks that were tinged with the flush of a blush, past her lips, down her strong jaw until she landed her fingers on Korra’s muscular shoulders.
Spirits, she'd always wanted to do that.
Korra swung her gently away from the dragon-bird and lightly put Asami down. As her boots sunk a bit in the soft dirt, Asami kept her hold on Korra’s shoulders, just as Korra held her waist.
“What did you think?” Korra asked, her smile now held a hint of that cocky grin she’d always wear in their sparring sessions.
“Beautiful,” Asami whispered. Them together, holding one another, as a dragon-bird spirit lay next to them, its tail half curled around them. What could be more perfect than this moment?
Kissing. Kissing Korra.
Except, what if this was just a dream? If she blinked, would it be gone? Her waking up alone as the dream faded into the ether?
For a moment, her anxiety clenched her stomach, and she blinked back tears. No, no, this was real, right?
Korra released her, and Asami dropped her hands from Korra’s shoulder a bit breathless still. Already she felt cold without Korra’s strong arms around her.
Korra reached out and wiped away her tears, her thumb lingering on Asami's cheek. Her breath caught in her throat.
There was no mistaking that gesture. Far too intimate.
Korra took her hand again.
“See you soon!” She called to the dragon-bird with a wave. “And thank you, great spirit!” The dragon-bird hummed a sweet reply and took off in a whoosh of air.
Dirt cascaded around them from the takeoff and broke the spell Korra had cast on Asami from her touch.
With a cough and a snort, Asami dusted off her pants and jacket. “Is that your usual ride around here?”
“I guess so,” Korra said, thoughtfully. One finger tapped her bottom lip. “Does tend to come when I’m here.” She turned toward the forest of trees, no, giant leaves. “So, let’s stroll through this… uhh…” she tilted her head at the giant leaves.
“One-leaf trees?” Asami ventured, also at a loss for what to call them.
“Yes. One leaf trees.” Korra agreed. They walked, hand in hand, and to Asami’s surprise, Korra hummed softly with that tender smile on her lips again. She listened but she didn’t recognize the tune.
“What are you humming?” Curiosity had gotten the better of her.
“Oh.” Korra rose dusted her brown cheeks. “It’s an old sea shanty song, though the words changes depending on the singer."
Asami squeezed her hand and raised an eyebrow to encourage her to keep talking.
Korra smiled with a rush of air. "Well, I wasn’t always at the compound, you know? Sometimes I visited my parents for a few days every few weeks or so. We’d talk for hours, me telling them all about my training and who knows what else,” Korra laughed, embarrassed, “until I’d get so tired that I’d fall asleep. I’d always wake up to Dad singing a variation of that song to Mom, and they’d be dancing together by the fire.”
“That sounds positively romantic, Korra,” Asami teased.
If Korra’s blush could get any deeper her face would be the color of burnt embers. “Well, this is romantic. Here with you, holding hands, walking under giant one-leaf trees.”
Asami’s stopped walking to face Korra. “Then… this is what I think it is?”
Korra tipped her head to one side, that new tender smile back. Asami needed to draw it, capture it's perfection. “What do you think this is?”
Words. Spirits, why did words evaporate the moment Korra turned that beautiful smile on her? In her time away, it was like Korra had gotten ten times more beautiful, which Asami hadn’t thought was possible considering how breathtakingly gorgeous Korra had always been. She reached out and cupped Korra’s chin.
“The start of something wonderful,” Asami finally said, her voice soft with wonder.
“Yeah. That.” Korra turned her head to lightly kiss Asami’s hand. That sent a jolt of electric desire through her arm and body. That cocky smile had returned. “I could sing you the song if you’d like. It’d be my take though. I don’t remember Dad’s version well. And we could dance here under these…” Korra looked up and then back at Asami. “… one leaf trees.”
“Yes, please.” Asami didn’t care if Korra could sing or not. Nor what variation of the song she sang. The thought of listening to Korra say or sing anything and then dance with her sounded absolutely lovely. “Are you leading am I?” That would probably be important. Her hand dropped from Korra’s chin to her shoulder.
Korra smiled that gentle smile that Asami could hardly bear, it was mindbogglingly adorable. “You? You saw me at the wedding, I was terrible.”
“Oh, I know.” Asami remembered quite well how Korra had grabbed her hand at one point and offered to dance, only to admit she had no idea what she was doing. It had been highly amusing and so incredibly cute. "My toes still feel it," she teased, and to her delight Korra blushed yet again.
Asami adjusted her stance to face Korra, gently lifted her arm that still held Korra’s hand, and moved her other to Korra’s waist. “Now put your other hand on my shoulder. Yes, like that.”
Korra laughed, nervously. “And now I gotta actually sing it, don’t I?”
“Humming works too,” Asami suggested. “Or us quietly dancing to music only we can hear.”
Mmmm.” Korra looked nervous. “Okay. Maybe start dancing first.”
Asami raised an eyebrow but couldn’t hide her smile. “Okay. We’ll keep it simple. I move back, you toward, then I move left, you move left, and I move toward, you back. Now keep it up.”
As Asami moved, Korra followed, her face scrunched adorably in concentration. At first, Korra stumbled, barely avoiding stepping on Asami's boots, but soon caught on to the rhythm.
Asami was highly tempted to swirl them a bit, but that would definitely cause Korra to trip. Maybe after a few practice sessions. The thought of spinning Korra made her breathless, and Korra spinning her, Asami's heart might not be able to take it.
After several successful three-steps, Korra began to relax again. She started humming again, but kept the tempo close to the dance.
“I’ve got my sails turned to the breeze,” she sang, her voice husky and a bit deeper than usual. She kept her gaze over Asami’s left shoulder.
“The wind pierces all the way to the soul, I sail to you with the promise of love Like the moth to the flames to the coal…”
Asami flowed their dance to the words, gently turning them at the end of what sounded like a stanza. Korra’s singing was slightly out-of-tune, but Asami didn’t care. The words warmed her heart and soul.
“You’ve got hair like the starless night,” Korra had shifted keys, likely on accident, but had finally shifted her gaze to look directly into Asami’s eyes.
“It sticks to our lips when we smile, You’ll wind it with mine, and we’ll drift off course, In my ship, our hearts touching all the while… For the way I walk is torch lit, It leads us into the night, I’ll hold you close and…” her voice cracked a bit, her face reddening again. “… you the most, Until our end is in sight…”
As her Avatar’s voice trailed away, Asami slowed their dance to a stop. She hadn’t missed the word Korra’s voice cracked over as the blush had given it away.
The song though, Korra’s words were strangely familiar. Asami released Korra’s hand and dropped her other arm to Korra’s waist; in response, Korra wrapped her arms tight around Asami's shoulders, her head tilted up. Asami recognized faintly that she ought to say something.
“Have you sang that before?” Asami whispered.
Korra’s eyes shone with a hint of tears. “Maybe…” But both of them knew Korra had never sang once the entire time they’d known each other.
Asami leaned closer, and Korra’s face upraised, her feet tipping her upward.
Only for a loud caw to startled them both. Asami spun to see several large bird-like spirits swoop low right over their heads. Korra had released her and shooed them away when they dived again.
“Okay, okay, overstaying our welcome here,” Korra grumbled. The irritation in her voice matched up with Asami’s frustration at the moment being interrupted.
“So onwards?” Asami grasped Korra’s hand again and tugged to get her walking with her.
“Guess so.” Korra looked at her and that tender smile twitched at her lips. “What a moment to break though.”
Asami sighed, torn at how close she’d come to kissing her Avatar. With the moment shattered, she’d have to wait for the next. She wanted their first kiss to be special. “You’ll have to sing that again sometime.”
“If I can remember the words!” Korra laughed. “I sort of made it up…”
Asami raised her eyebrows. “Odd. The words sounded very familiar to me…” she trailed off in wonder. That moment had felt so clear to her, the connection between them almost visible.
“Hmmm. Maybe?” Korra shrugged. “Well, I’ll sing variations of it as much as you want!”
The cheerfulness in her voice convinced Asami to not say anything about how out of tune she’d been. In the end, it was the intent that mattered, and the moment itself had been precious. That’s what Asami wanted to remember, the feeling itself.
and I hear him begging someone named god
tw/cw: non-graphic depiction of death/character death
There’s a distant kind of pain registering in Mako, but he’s not sure where it’s from. It really, really hurts. He’s not really thinking about much other than that, so he doesn’t spare much attention to the clogging in his nose or the dripping from his eyes. Something in that burns in a way he doesn’t think tears and snot are supposed to.
Mako finds he’s too exhausted to really care. He’s sniffling and crying like he hasn’t in years. Something in his subconscious tells him to move his hands, hide his face and wipe away the evidence, but gentle hands are already reaching for him with soothing cool and twitching his arms makes the distant pain much closer. He doesn’t like it.
Mako’s thoughts drift to his life. He thinks about his first eight years.
He realizes he might be dying. He can’t seem to pull himself away from the memories to worry about it. Bolin is in almost all of them. Mako thinks he will miss Bolin, if he’s not able to wait up. He’s sorry he has to hurt his brother, but he hopes Bo won’t feel rushed to join him. Mako is patient.
Toza is there, too. Mako kind of misses him. He knows he owes him a lot for how Toza helped him and Bolin out. He hasn’t seen him in a while. He wonders if Toza might be waiting.
Then there’s Korra, and Asami. Korra, brash and proud and present in a way that made him present too. Korra who’s saved his life a thousand times over. He feels a little bad her efforts are going to waste. He’ll have to wait up for Asami, too. Hopefully she lingers with Bolin if Korra isn’t able. They could be like Avatar Aang’s friends—meeting two avatars in a lifetime. How incredible.
Mako can’t quite remember what brought him here. He—he’s a police officer, that’s right (Chief Beifong). Something must’ve happened with that to bring him here. Mako wonders if the Chief is mad one of her detectives got himself killed. He knows she can’t afford any more hits to her narrow ranks.
Maybe she’s even worried. Mako tries to scoff at the thought, but he only summons more too-thick tears. The hands move frantically to shush him, but Mako really misses his mom and dad and Chief really reminds Mako of his mom. It hurts just a bit, through his idiotic attachment, to think she might not care at all.
The vague lights Mako’s been seeing are getting more tinted. His eyes are burning, though he’s not sure if from his wrong-tears or the too bright lights. He lets his eyes slip shut.
Muffled sound filters in as his sole point of focus. It’s a strenuous task to process the information his brain is receiving, but Bolin’s voice is frantic and Mako needs to know his little brother is okay before he can let himself sleep.
He’s almost certain Bolin is begging for something. The person’s name sounds almost like ‘God’. Mako hears his own name, but he can’t summon the energy for a grunt of acknowledgment. He hopes Bo knows he’s trying to listen anyway.
He’s promising to stop running away from his problems, to take care of every street kid and orphan he can find—as long as. Mako can’t figure out what he wants for such a promise.
He laughs, but it comes out more like a choke. His throat burns like someone’s breathed fire back down it and his lips are crusted in something metallic when he wets them with his tongue.
Mako tells Bolin not to be silly, in as few words as he can manage. Whoever this God guy is has better things to be doing, and there’s no way Bolin can make good on his promise.
The snark takes more out of him than he thought. He ends up sounding more worn than anything. He realizes absently that he’s still crying, which isn’t helping add levity to Bo’s distress. He feels bad for crying in front of him, but it really is just all too much to stop.
Someone screams when his breaths even out. Mako isn’t awake to hear it.
His chest stills. Seven minutes pass, and Mako sees all the best times of his life. His eyes fall shut one last time and his spirit fades.
The spirit world is just across the valley where Mako lays, he knows somehow. But he is content to wait until his family is old and withered and can walk the threshold with him in the forms of their youth.
Mako will wait as long as they need. He hopes they know they were in every single minute.
The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 28
CALM BEFORE THE STORM
Y/N'S POV
Frustration is fuelled within me every second we stay in our apartment. Pacing back and forth, hands clasped, behind my back, I stare daggers into the ground.
"Y/N, relax." Korra suggests, concern in her face.
Relax? How can I relax now?!
After Aiwei escaped, Korra proposed we use Naga to track down the truth seer but Chief Beifong forbid us to do so! She wants to send us back to Republic City so she can protect Korra! Even Suyin agreed with her much to everyone's surprise and now we're leaving tomorrow!
"Every minute we waste, the further that traitor gets away." I grit out, my steps increasing in their speed and intensity. "This is our best chance to catch Zaheer and we are now losing it!"
"None of us are liking it." Mako comments, his voice so bitter that I can practically taste it. "But we have to listen to the Chief's orders."
Unfortunately, he's right.
"I guess so." I concede and I eventually drop to one of the chairs. "She better know what she's doing."
A loud knock brings the scene to a halt.
Who's knocking at this time of night?
Korra opens the door and there, standing by the entrance, is Suyin.
Wait, Suyin?!
"Su."
"You really think Naga could track Aiwei?"
Huh?!
"Definitely."
"Then, here."
In a flash, I see the matriarch handing Korra some keys. Wait, keys?
"There's a jeep packed with supplies on the east gate." Suyin explains. "It's all gassed and ready to go."
Korra, obviously, is confused by all of this. "What? Why?"
Suyin responds immediately. There isn't a hint of hesitation or regret. "Because I want you to hunt down Aiwei and bring him back to me."
WHAT?
Despite my shock, I manage to speak up. "I thought you said-"
"-I said what Lin wanted to hear and I bought you guys some time." She clarifies. "Go. I'll deal with Lin in the morning."
YES! We can finally catch that bastard!
After a quick hug to Suyin from Korra, we all begin to depart. Before I walk past Beifong, I give her a small smile. Despite our differences, despite the arguments, despite everything, at this moment, we are allies. She helped us and I will be grateful for that.
"Thank you."
Suyin, probably having the same thoughts as I did about our relationship, smiles back. "Don't mention it. Now, go!"
I nod and with a quick dash we head off, Korra on Naga and the rest of Team Avatar in the jeep.
The hunt begins.
TIME SKIP
We have been travelling for hours. Once the sky was as black as Vaatu's heart is now as bright and blue as the hope we now have.
Throughout the trip we all managed to have a little bit of rest. We needed it after all the excitement we had back in Zaofu.
The thought of the metal city reminds me of Lin. She's going to be PISSED when she realises we're gone. Spirits, she probably already knows.
Right now, we're at some local Earth Kingdom desert village. Naga managed to track Aiwei to the small area. He must have took a quick stop.
It isn't much. Just a bunch of run-down and withered buildings bunched up close together. Its clear the village hasn't been well-kept by the populace.
"Aiwei has definitely been here." Korra tells us. She then looks at Naga with a grateful smile. "Nice tracking, girl."
"Let's ask around." Mako suggests, already beginning to walk to some sort of tavern. "Maybe someone's seen him."
We all follow, and we enter inside. Just like the outside village, the tavern isn't well kept. The citizens are just as dirty and sketchy as the area.
I look around the area, trying to spot someone who appears to be at least a little trustworthy and-
Uh oh.
"Shit."
My curse catches my friends attention and they all turn to see what I was talking about.
Right by the entrance, there are five posters. Posters that have pictures of each and every member of Team Avatar. Korra, Mako, Bolin, Asami...and me.
"Wanted posters!" Korra exclaims in shock.
Mako leans forward and narrows his eyes. ""Wanted by Her Majesty, the Earth Queen, for crimes against the Kingdom."
Crimes? Oh, you have got to be kidding me!
"The Queen is still pissed about what happened in Ba Sing Se." I growl like an animal. "The fucking nerve to place a bounty on us..."
"Those airbenders won't hers to keep!" Korra angrily barks out. "I swear, if I see her pinchy little queen face again, I am going to..."
"Uhh, guys..."
Asami?
We all turn to see why she's all of a sudden nervous.
Oh...
There, in the tavern, all of the customers are glaring daggers right at us. The dirt, scars, and ripped clothing amplifies the intimidation they already radiate. I even see one pulling out a long, slick sword and another a sharp spear.
Uh oh...
"Lets get out of here." I quickly mutter and in a blink of an eye we all rush out.
Welp, I guess we should continue the trail. No point sticking around this...fun...place.
We eventually reached another town, much larger, tidier, and generally nicer looking than the one we visit before. Apparently it's a place called Misty Palms Oasis. I guess its an oasis in more ways than one after our las location.
But that pales in comparison to what we found.
Naga found something.
Aiwei's jeep crudely hidden beneath the large rocks that spread across the plains.
Bingo.
"This must be Aiwei's jeep." Asami tells us, pointing out the obvious. "He can't be far."
She's right. Aiwei must be in Misty Palms!"
"Let's get this guy." I tell them, cracking my knuckles. "He must be in that settlement over there."
"No." Mako disagrees, hands raised in a soothing gesture. Then, he points to his younger brother. "Bolin and I will investigate the Misty Palms Oasis. You, Korra, and Asami wait here in case he comes back. Besides, we don't want to call too much attention to ourselves."
Dammit. He's right.
Sighing heavily, I relent. "Very well." I reluctantly agree. "I take it you two would be wearing some disguises?"
"Did someone say disguises?!" a very loud and cheery voice calls out, causing Mako to pinch the bridge of his nose and mutter "Oh no..."
Bolin, clearly more excited than his brother, dashes to the bags of supplies Suyin had provided us and then, in a moment of light speed, whips out a yellow raincoat, so bright that it nearly hurts my eyes, and pulls it all over him and proceeds to bring out some green goggles and slaps it on him. A few moments later and Mako does the same.
Um...
Well, uh, it's certainly a disguise...
I mean, it might attract a lot of attention with its colour but at least its something...
Oh dear.
I trade looks with Korra and Asami and its clear we all share the same thoughts about their...disguise.
"Now we need some backstories!" Bolin continues, clasping his hands together and rubbing them back and forth in a preparation gesture. Then, he dramatically places one on his chest in a dramatic sense of sadness. "I'm an ex-United Forces operative named Ting-Ting. War was the only woman I ever loved, until Ivy came along and showed me what real love is. Tragically, she was taken from me by my archenemy Dr. Razor and-"
"-Enough!" Mako interrupts, clearly fed up with his brother's antics, and begins dragging him towards the Misty Palms. "Let's just find Aiwei."
"Good luck, guys." I tell them and just like that they are off to the local area.
Well then.
"Is there anything in his jeep that can help us?" I ask the two women as I begin walking towards the vehicle.
"Only one way to find out." Asami says. "You check the boot and I'll check the glove department. Korra, you watch out for us."
"On it." We both respond at the same time and we get to our tasks. Korra sets herself upon a large boulder while I go to the back of the jeep. In a quick motion, I pull the lid of the boot open and I am greeted with...nothing. Great.
"Nothing in here." I tell them with irritation, slamming the lid shut. "Any luck with you?"
"Not yet. There isn't seem to be anything of-WAIT! I think I found something!"
Oh shit!
"You found something?" Korra speaks up, sliding down the boulder and joining Asami and I.
The CEO of Future Industries pulls out some sort of note and hands it to Korra. What is it with these guys and notes?
"Xai Bau's Grove, sundown." Korra reads aloud carefully. When she finishes, her features light up in excitement. "This must be where and when Aiwei's going to meet Zaheer!"
"Sure sounds like it." I agree, crossing my arms. "Never heard of Xai Bau's Grove before, though."
"Good thing we have a map." Asami points out and then spreads it across the jeep and begins analysing it with precision and care. "All right. Xai Bau's Grove, where are you?"
Our eyes scour the map, draining and drinking the information before us like we dying of thirst. I can't see the name we are looking for. Dammit!
Almost immediately after we begin our search, a couple of blue butterfly-like spirits land on the map, covering portions of the map.
Asami brushes them away with annoyance. "Go away! I'm trying to find something."
Damn straight. Now, where in the spirits is this pla-
WAIT!
SPRITS!
"Hold on a second." I urgently tell her. "Maybe they are trying to tell us something."
"What do you mean?" Korra asks."
Before I answer her, I do a thorough scan of the Earth Kingdom map one more time to make sure I am not mistaken.
I am not.
"Xai Bau's Grove isn't in the Earth Kingdom or anywhere." I finally answer. "It's in the spirit world! That's why it isn't on the map."
Upon my revelation, their features flash with a new understanding. Asami scrolls up the map and places it away. "You're right! That's got to be it."
"We'll wait for Mako and Bolin to return and tell us if Aiwei is here." Korra declares, her voice full of leadership and authority. "If he is here and he's staying in Misty Palms, then we'll wait until he mediates into the Spirit World."
I nod in agreement. Sounds like a plan.
Eventually, Mako does return but by myself. Before I can panic, he tells us they found out Aiwei is hiding in an inn and Bolin is keeping an eye on him. We tell him of our own discoveries and we agree to stake his room out until sundown and quietly enter his place.
We manage to book a room ourselves opposite to Aiwei's. A perfect place for a stakeout.
Well, almost perfect.
Because this room is fucking awful.
Literally, it's so small its ridiculous with only one bed. Like, its okay for one person I suppose. But still! Naga is literally filling up nearly half of the damn room.
"I'd just like to say, for the record, this room is definitely not perfect." Bolin speaks out our thoughts but is immediately hit in the face by the polar bear dog's tail.
"Understatement of the century." I dryly comment and glance at Korra and Mako peeking out of the window.
Bolin continues his (understandable) complaints. "I thought stakeouts were supposed to be exciting. This isn't. At all!" To avoid total boredom, he begins searching through the room but then gets all excited out of nowhere. "Hey, look! A Pai Sho board! Mako, you want to play?"
"Kind of busy, bro." Mako quickly refuses, focusing on spying on Zaofu's traitor.
"I'll play."
I glance at Asami, and I see her lit up with excitement and anticipation. I didn't know she played Pai Sho.
A few minutes pass and, as I silent observe the multiple games between Bolin and Asami, I come to learn that the CEO of Future Industries is actually a Pai Sho master or, at least, a master of the version she plays. Turns out Pai Sho has multiple versions, which now I realise isn't really surprising since the game is apparently over a thousand years old, and Bolin played a way, WAY different version. Sato's version is slow, methodical, focused on strategizing. Bolin's is fast, reckless, and little thinking. The earthbender doesn't like this, obviously, and seriously asked Korra to standardise Pai Sho rules. The sarcasm she shot back at him went completely over his head.
"So, we know at sundown Aiwei is going to go to the Spirit World." I state, glancing in the directions of Korra and Mako who are staring at the truth seer's own accommodation. "We go to his place and you just meditate into the Spirit World?"
"That's the best plan I can think of." Korra responds, still gazing through the glassless window. She doesn't sound worried at all despite what happened back at Zaofu.
"Korra, you were nearly kidnapped last night." I tell her with complete seriousness. "I don't like the idea of you confronting Zaheer in the Spirit World all alone."
This time, my best friend turns to me with complete determination in her gaze to me. "Y/N, I have to. This is the only way we can find out more about these guys and stop them."
"I know that." I shake my head. "I just..."
I trail off, not really knowing what to say. I'm overthinking this. It's not like Korra can be taken in the Spirit World. Neither she nor Zaheer would have their bending.
But Korra looked so vulnerable back in Zaofu...
I don't want her to be in that state again.
"Maybe I can come with you?" I weakly ask, already knowing the answer.
Korra shakes her head gently. "It's best if I go alone. By myself it will be easier to hide and might give Zaheer a false sense of security."
I nod solemnly. Dammit.
Then, a light touch of her fingers press upon my chin and I see her tilt my chin upwards. I see a small smile on her lips and comfort in her ocean eyes.
"I'll be fine."
Yeah. Yeah, she will. Of course.
"I know." I tell her, a smile slowly spreading on my lips too.
"Ugh!"
And, like that, the tender moment is ruined by Bolin's scream of frustration. Sounds like Asami has defeated him yet again.
A quick glance and, unsurprising, I was correct as I see Bolin laid down on his back, face buried in his palms, and groaning quietly while Asami has a triumphant smile on her face, arms crossed.
Hm. Okay then.
Displaying a big and cocky smirk, I walk over to Bolin and sit down, cross-legged, next to him. "My turn."
"What?" Bolin squeals out, shooting straight back with wide eyes. "Don't do it, Y/N! Asami is too skilled! She's undefeatable!"
"I'm afraid he's right, Y/N." Asami agrees with complete arrogance, her triumphant smile now a smirk. "I'll destroy you just like I did to Bolin."
Oh, really now?
I cross my arms in defiance. "Then you won't mind if I have a go, oh so Pai Sho Master?"
She chuckles at my mockery title I give her. "If you don't mind losing then sure."
Oh, I'm not going to be the one losing.
"I didn't know you played Pai Sho." Asami points out as we reset the board.
"I played a few games of it back on Air Temple Island." I tell her, placing my own pieces back to their starting positions. "Jinora taught me how to play."
"Did you and Korra play together?"
I give her a sly smile. "You really think Korra will play Pai Sho? A game of patience?"
"Hey!" Korra barks out with an offended look, mouth agape. "I can be patient!"
"You can." I concede. "But you can't be patient enough to play Pai Sho."
Asami chuckles. "Sorry, Korra, but I have to agree with Y/N on this one."
"Asami!"
The jet-black woman and I gaze at each other as we hide our snickers behind our mouth as we try to contain our laughter at the sight of Korra's offended and infuriated look.
When the moment subsides, we go back to our board and not too long afterwards we are finished with resetting our arena.
Bolin slumps away melancholily and moves to the side of the two of us and then gives me a dedicated stare. "Avenge me, Y/N!"
I give him a serious gaze that shouldn't really be serious in the first place given the situation. "I will."
I turn to Asami, the woman giving me a hardened glare, and I smirk.
"Your move."
Unlike the previous matches, this one lasts for what feels like a lifetime. Each move her and I make is coordinated, organised, and with purpose. The arrogance that once filled our forms has now drained away as we realise that our opponents are actually good. Really good.
"This is the longest Pai Sho game I have ever seen." Bolin comments.
"This is the longest game I've played." Asami agrees.
"Ditto." I add. I then manage to retrieve a drip of arrogance I had and smirk. "I thought you said you were going to destroy me?"
"Don't get cocky." Asami warns, smiling dangerously. "I don't see you doing any better."
Hm. Touché.
We continue but no more teasing comments are made. This game is dead silent now as we make our moves one by one, piece by piece, strategy by strategy.
I don't know how much time has passed but eventually we reach a deadlock. Our number of pieces are low and equal.
"This can go either way!" Bolin announces, voice full of shock and anticipation.
Asami and I glare at each other, intensity in our eye-lock so powerful and thick you can slice it with a katana.
The sound of an excited fire ferret is the only warning we hear and in a blink of an eye, tiles from the game fly into the air while the board acts as a resting pad for the cute pet.
NO!
"PABU!" Asami, Bolin, and I yell, startling Korra and Mako. In a fit of anger, I swing my arms upward into the air but this accidentally sends Pabu and the Pai Sho board and tiles right into Asami's face!
"Asami, you okay?!" I tell her, moving Pabu away from her and giving it to Bolin.
"I'm fine." The CEO of Future Industries groans out, moving strands of hair away from her face.
"Shhh, guys!" Mako sternly orders us. "We don't want Aiwei hearing us!"
"But Mako you should have seen it!" Bolin exclaims, despair in his voice. "It was the most intense game of Pai Sho ever and Pabu ruined it! Now we'll never know who would have won!"
"I'm sorry the game was ruined but just keep it quiet." Mako tells his brother, not having any of it.
Welp. Thanks Pabu. The game between Asami and I will forever be inconclusive. Just peachy.
"I'm sorry for blasting all of that stuff at you." I apologise. "It was an accident."
Asami, now finally tidied herself, gives me a tired smile. "It's okay. I'm just surprised at the strength of that blast. You've really progressed fast with your airbending, huh?"
Warmth rushes to my cheeks in embarrassment and I scratch the back of my neck. "Eh, I'm not that good. I suck compared to Tenzin, Korra, and even the air kids."
"Don't be too hard on yourself." Asami refutes. "For a novice, you're great! I mean, remember back at Zaofu? You deflected an explosion!"
True...I did do that. To be honest I'm surprised I was able to do it. I wasn't even thinking when I did it. I just...did it.
"She's right." Korra agrees, giving me a proud smile. "Not any newbie can do that. You'll be a great airbender."
The heat in my face intensifies and engulfs into flames. I really hope I don't look as red as I am feeling.
"T-Thanks." I tell her, shyly looing downwards. Then, in a surprising boost of confidence, I chuckle. "Sprits, I'm going to have a big arrow on my forehead someday. Imagine that."
"I can imagine it." She tells me with a slight teasing smile. Then, the smile shifts into something tender. "And we'll all be there when you get them."
"You said it." Bolin agrees, wrapping an arm over my shoulders. "An airbending master in Team Avatar?! How cool is that?!"
Huh. Me, an airbending master?
I close my eyes and imagine myself as that. Me, wearing big, bold, red and yellow robes with a cloak similar to Tenzin's that signify my allegiance to the Air Nation with bright blue arrow tattoos all over my body and being clear as day on my hands and forehead.
"Yeah." I tell everyone, giving them a smile. "It would be cool."
"Uh, guys." Mako announces. "I hate to break the moment but it's pretty much sundown. We got to make our move now!"
The friendly atmosphere shatters as we are brought back to the reality of the situation.
It's sundown?! Already?! How long were Asami and I playing Pai Sho for?!
Standing up straight, I gaze at the outside world and I see the all-too familiar orange glow of a sunset.
"Lets do this." Korra declares and she starts marching out of the room. One by one, my friends leave until I am alone.
Taking a deep, hard, breath and release it, I follow.
Korra will confront Zaheer.
We will find out who he and his friends are.
We will find them.
And we will stop them.
One way or another.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's it!
Feedback is appreciated! :D
See you all in the next chapter!
Makorra Week 2023: Day 5 – Buried Feelings
Hunger hurts, but starving works When it costs too much to love.
“I wanted — I hoped — I’d get another chance,” he admits.
“I know.”
“I still love her, Bo.”
“I know.”
“It’s stupid.”
“No, it’s not.” Bolin releases him, but keeps a hand on his shoulder. “That’s the thing about you, bro — when you love someone, you devote everything to them. That doesn’t just go away when the other person moves on. It’s not stupid to still have feelings. Although…you do need to be better about expressing them.”
He winces, inadvertently reminded that he lost his chance to do so.
“I was going to tell Korra.”
Bolin blinks in surprise. “When?”
“At the wedding. We talked, she thanked me for taking down the Colossus, and I almost said it.” Dammit, I should’ve just said it.
Bolin’s expression turns sympathetic. “Why didn’t you?”
He groans in frustration. “I don’t know. I guess I thought it was too soon, and I didn’t want to rock the boat after everything we’d just been through. I thought there’d be a better time.”
“I’m not sure there ever is a right time for something like this.”
He laughs without humour. “Well, now is definitely not the right time. She’s happy with Asami. I’m not gonna ruin that by saying anything.
An absolutely FLOORING commission I am beyond honored to share, from the art MASTER, @alduade-art. Thank you so much for your devotion and deliverance of such a masterpiece!
This scene and dialogue is from Chapter 3 of another one of my favorite Makorra fics: Moments in Lightning by Peonywinx. I cannot recommend this fic enough if you are a Mako stan and long for a story where he gets an arc worth his caliber. The whump is so, so overpowering in all the right ways. And this scene in particular...UGHHH my boy why must you be so noble to your own detriment!?! Thank you so much again, Alduade, for capturing and conveying all the heartache and pain in your one-of-a-kind style 🙇🙇🙇
Amon tries to convince Korra to learn bloodbending, so she could defend herself from bloodbenders and more advanced benders in future. She's against it, but she appreciates his concern. In the similar fashion, she wants to teach him healing, but Amon isn't patient enough. And it would remind him of the few times when Tarrlok or the village healer would heal his wounds when he was a kid, and it makes him sad :(
Korra and Amon love traditional Water Tribe food. Mako, Bolin and Asami don't like it though, and it disappoints Korra. Sometimes Tenzin makes Korra some traditional recipes which Katara has taught him, since it's her comfort food, and she shares it with Amon. And yes, Amon will cook for Korra whenever she wants 💙
Amon always thought he's asexual, but after meeting Korra and getting close to her, he realizes he's actually demisexual. He was just lonely for many years, without any close bonds 🥺 but the whole newly discovered sexual attraction is weird and overwhelming to him, luckily Korra, who is just as awkward like him, is there to help 👀
Korra doesn't want to get pregnant, the whole idea is scary and uncomfortable to her (and she doesn't know how the Avatar state will impact the pregnancy, there's no information about it). Meanwhile Noatak turns out to be infertile, so they both decide to adopt. I like to imagine they would adopt a waterbender, non-bender from Water Tribe and a firebender. And they would settle in Korra's hometown in the South Pole, while often traveling with their kiddos 🥺 and the idea of uncle Tarrlok babysiting his nephews/nieces is funny
Not gonna lie it would be interesting to see Korra learning blood bending, especially with Amon/Noatak as her teacher, but I think he would be REALLY hesitant at first. To me, he would do EVERYTHING in the world before teaching his cursed skill, (thanks to Yakone), and I think he would do it only if it was truly needed, otherwise he wouldn’t… especially with Korra.
The second ABSOLUTELY❤ to Amon is nostalgic due to his childhood memories and for Korra is everything, I headcanon Asami and Mako enjoy spicy food and Bolin is more into sweets but yeah they don’t share tastes 😅
About Tenzin I am not sure because he could prepare watertribe food yes but I think he follows Aang’s vegetarian life style, so I think he only might prepare recipes that don’t have meat.
About cooking… well I hc Amon is paranoid af and has been cooking for himself for years but is not one of his favorites tasks, he will eat whatever is available in the kitchen (making a revolution takes a lot of time and energy 😬) but sometimes he and Korra will cook together and sometimes something god might come of it <3
Korra can cook too but her food is… not the best, she needs help at first and eventually she gets decent food for the family.
I used to hc Amon as Ace too! Gimme five 🖐😎
Now I hc Amon as bi but I love your hc too! He became Demi for our little Korra 🥹
About the pregnancy… I think Amon and Tarrlok might be terrified by those topics, mainly because they fear repeating the cycle as Yakone did with them and they do not want any little creature to result like them, (actually that’s one of the theories behind the boat explosion, it happened because they wanted to close the cursed blood bending cycle forever ;((
But coming back to the kids I am sure they would get one or another eventually, either planned or not they would become a sweet family ;)
Oh and you are one of the few I who gives them an adopted child love that! I haven’t seen many give them adopted kids but I have one too!
Tumblr media
They have a biological child, (Anoki), and an adopted child, (Nilak), if you investigate a little bit more in the gold era of Amorra Nilak was a pretty common name for Amorra children, so I decided to keep that little detail in honor to the good old fandom?
May I ask if your kids have names yet?👀
Give the Red Lotus more!
I know I made a post praising the fact that the Red Lotus had diverse personalities, but I think all fans could agree that they could’ve used more to differentiate themselves from Zaheer. Naturally, I have thoughts. The entire prison break scene just proves that P’li and Ming-Hua are ride-or-die besties, so why couldn’t that dynamic have been continued, huh, Bryke? Just a scene with P’li braiding Ming-Hua’s hair for her or teasing each other over something stupid or having a running gag with Ming-Hua, the tiniest of the group, giving the literal giant P’li piggyback rides, just because she can. I mean, if they had more moments like Ghazan’s “really? Right now?” Like, the BROTHER-SISTER DYNAMIC THAT COULD EXIST BETWEEN GHAZAN AND P’LI? I saw a creator talk about a who-can-be-more-destructive-in-battle competition between themn and like...
YES.
Like, hello, the banter during their fight scenes on the bridge getting out of Republic City or in Zaofu? Or even Ghazan gloating as he destroys the air temple with lava because he SO just won with that entire move.
Imagine a throwaway scene with P’li making too-spicy dinner and the others literally dying as she just peacefully eats and goes in for seconds. The badass Zaheer, sobbing in pain and begging Ming-Hua for the water she’s hogging for herself.
Also, I’d play up the bromance between Ghazan and Bolin a bit more, even it’s just Ghazan making a comment during their final fight that he’s sad he’s going to have to kill him.
During the stakeout fight, I’d have Ghazan and Ming-Hua sharing amused glances and snarky comments, make it explicitly obvious they’re just playing with the boys before they pummel them and Ghazan runs off to try and find Korra. They’re supposed to be “able to take down any bender,” and have had nine episodes to get back into bending after 13 years.
An idea that recently surfaced was that the red lotus should cause more conflicts within team avatar. Team Avatar’s been a little all over the place for the first two seasons, so having the red lotus so in sync with each other might motivate them to work on their own unity, and maybe help add to Mako coming back to the group and not being a weirdo about his breakups. That all just kind of disappeared as soon as they left. Hell, give them all internal conflicts surrounding anarchy! Have Korra struggling with her own doubts about the world needing an avatar and being raised by authorities--the white lotus--isolated in a compound. Have Mako struggling with being a cop when he’s reminded of how the authorities failed him and Bolin when they were on the streets, with Bolin coming to similar realizations. Even Asami, who faced discrimination as a nonbender, even if it was better because she’s rich and the Avatar’s bestie/gf. Have the red lotus leave lasting impressions on the characters. Plus, this kind of things would be great for team avatar to develop their friendships more, in a way a lot of LOK fans wish had happened.
I would show more foreshadowing to P’li’s backstory before it was revealed in enter the void. One thing I came up with was--and this is kind of reaching--Asami or Mako being reminded of their mothers, both of whom were dark-haired fire nation beauties. Maybe Asami’s mother was taller than average and fairly quiet, as well, and had some similar physical features to P’li, or maybe it was Mako. Let’s explore that trauma and its lasting impact on them! ATLA did it fantastically, and the LOK characters deserved at least some of that treatment. Maybe give one of them a brief moment alone and ask her why she’s doing these things, to which P’li’s only response is “you have no idea what people in power can do,” which we later learn is a reference to her own exploitation at the hands of a warlord. Hell, during her conversation with Zaheer in “enter the void,” maybe even add something about how she never wanted to kidnap an innocent girl, but will do it for the greater good, etc., or something that makes one of the mysteries of season 3 clearer: why would a girl who’d been kidnapped and exploited as a child be willing to do the same to another? I’d actually change the poisoning scene, having Korra knocked unconscious before they administer it, with one of them making a remark to the effect that P’li would only go through with the plan if this part of it were painless--even Zaheer yelling in their final fight that he doesn’t want to hurt her, or SOMETHING like that!
Some kind of will-they-or-won’t-they between Ming-Hua and Ghazan that has the other two rolling their eyes also wouldn’t hurt, fyi.
Red Lotus miniseries when?
Hi , I am not a fan of Maksim but I simp on Maksim 🙄 everyday . So my question is does Maksim know Simon was brainwashing Akihito ?. If yes , I can't forgive him . I am sorry if this question doesn't make any sense because I wanted to ask this question for a long time but I can't bring myself to ask this . When I saw Maksim for the first time I didn't find him attractive,but after reading the mercenaries days extra I just couldn't get him out of my mind I started to feel a soft corner for him I was also thinking that Maksim's childhood would be as shitty as Asami's but the sence where Maksim was forcing Asami to joint the organisation in an exchange of the antidote I just hated him I was like fuck you !! . I am sorry I know it's too long I just pour my heart out.🙏
Hiii!!
I don’t blame you for simping on Maksim (i like how u spell it, gives him a more eastern european vibe!) he is almost Asami’s twin and its hard not to like him. He actually reminds me a lot of Asami, not just in terms of looks, and though the brothers seem not to be on good terms i think they have more in common then one might think. It seems he had a similar upbringing to Asami, which couldnt have done good things to him. He seems as coldhearted as Asami was at the beginning of Finder. When we read about Maksim in his mercenary days, you get a glimpse of this softer side to him- dare I say a nobler side to him. Being loyal to his men, how hard he works to prove himself— his love for KITTIES 😅
But unfortunately their is no denying that he had direct knowledge of what Simon was doing.
Remember too that this whole arch, Alec was spying on Asami and reporting everything to Maksim. Maksim surely heard about Akihito’s initial failled attack on Asami in Poland. Then how they were looking for Simon, and how they suspected Akihito had lost his memory and was brain washed.
And don’t forget that we know for a fact that Maksim was the one that gave Simon a headsup about Asami’s plans fairly early on, allowing Simon to escape Asami’s first assult.
It was Alec that leaked to Maksim about Asami’s incoming attack on Simon’s house. Remember that when Asami arrives at Simons house its empty. Simons men were already warned that he was coming and they had a surprise attack awaiting them. It’s at this point that Asami starts to grow suspicious of Alec— because how else would they know he was coming? When he later confronts Alec about it, Alec claims to have not known the extent to which Maksim was using that information, nor about any partnership Maksim had with Simon.
So not only did he play with Akihito’s life by withholding an antidote that he knew Akihito needed - not just to cure him of brainwashing but indeed to save his life. But he also played with the lives of Asami and even Alec, who is in love with him - allowing both of them to walk into what would be an ambush.
Though I doubt he thought he was putting either of them in danger and knew that they would get out…
I am afriad too that this goes deeper too, as there are still questions in my mind about early instances. Recall way back - somehow Maksim knew to rescue Asami from the hospital before Chernobog attacked it. How did he get that information in the first place, those questions have never been fully answered. I think its not that much of a stretch to think, they (“they” being Papa Asami’s organization and Maksim) left Akihito in the hospital to be Simons experiment on purpose.
We will see if the upcoming arch answers any of that. I know some fans have even theorized that its possible Papa’s Asami’s Organization has some connections with Chernobog- and that they did nothing while they knew Chernobog was targetting Asami. Given that nobody knew (not even Fei Long) that Asami had connections with this unknown organization that his father runs — its possible Chernobog targetted Asami without knowing who his father was.
Despite this though, I wouldn’t worry to much about simping him 🤭 I do too even tho he is kinda evil! As I said in my last post about Papa Asami, Finder has a lot of characters who are coldhearted and evil masterminds but who end up not being as villianous as I think we think they are. Think of all the things Fei did! And what about Mikhail (who also was the one responsible for chernobog chasing Asami in the first place because he was the one that stole the shipment — and thats recent history too!) But we forget all that stuff because eventually they are redeemed during the storyline - they are just doing their jobs after all and we can’t blame them for that…
In the end, Maksim did get punished for his partnership with Simon. And whatever contract he had Asami sign - if it *was* force him to return to their father or something else. I think its possible he wont hold that against Asami anymore since Asami will be the one who rescues him from Simon. Maksim is primmed to be next in line for a redemtion arch after being humbled and humilated in so many ways by Simon. I think Alec too will be a good influence on him and he will soften…
But still its exciting to see what next arch will bring with him, maybe we will see the two brothers getting along a little better….
🥑🍄🦋 hehehe
Thanks for the ask! Heh heh 😈
🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
I dunno, man. It sounds kinda FED-y to me! 👀 but ig if I gotta implicate someone *cough* @lilypixels *cough* @zynoox *cough*
🦋 ⇢ share something that has been on your heart and mind lately
*Holds up a copy of NYT* All of this and so much more.
Lately, it's been the double aged sword of being known, if that makes sense?
Like this blog for example, I love doing it, I love helping you guys where I can and interacting with you all, but we all know the internet can be a very draining and daunting place especially for creators/artists. Not only do you have to do the thing, but then you have to go around waving the thing you did in everyone's face, and many people aren't so nice about it.
I don't know, I have this fun little thing where I want to be loud and start a revolution and take over the world, but also if I talk to stranger for longer than five minutes then I'm ready to move to the woods and adopt a reclusive old hag lifestyle 😅
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
Okay, I'm gonna do a couple because I'm not sure if this is about my characters that I ship or others, so I'm going to use it as an excuse to gush about both.
Canon ships v
Others: Korra/Asami (The Legend of Korra)
● They've learned to love themselves through the other's eyes. Korra thinks she's too headstrong, which is what Asami adores the most about her, and Asami thinks she wears her heart on her sleeve too much while that's what made Korra fall for her. Because they know that's what got the other's love, it's made them take pride in those parts of themselves.
Mine: Jared/Jayne
● He thinks her calm balances out his crazy, but she thinks his calm balances her crazy. They have a perfect yin and yang to their relationship but really have no idea. They're just following their instincts, and it's always right. They just know the other is exactly what they need and try to repay it to the other in the best way they can.
Noncanon ships v
Others: Steve/Bucky (Marvel)
● They know everything about each other, the good, the bad, and the ugly and love each other because of it, not in spite of it. If Bucky decided to go on a murderous rampage, Steve would be right by his side. If Steve got excommunicated from the US, Bucky's already packed their bags because it's til the end of the line.
Mine: Conner/Parker (It would, could, and probably should never ever happen but like it's there...)
● They have a kind of synchronicity, in a way. Especially with the hard stuff, like emotions. They're both just so in sync with each other, if Conner's had a stressful day Parker's already rented Ghostbusters and is making popcorn, if Parker's fighting with his family Conner makes it a big deal to remind him that there are people that love him. It's just ahh.
i (re)devoured all official Avatar material in like 2 weeks (except the novels, I'm about to start those) but the rumors of Avatar Studios making a new series of the Earth Avatar has me buzzing with ideas about it :D
like imagine if Bolin after having 15613 different jobs ends up being a pro earthbender trainer in his old age and he's the buff old dude spinning random unbelievable tales about Avatar Korra that nobody really believes since a lot of time has passed and his gen is mostly gone. Bonus points is the new Avatar ends up stumbling into gym Bolin works at & gets an earful about their past life, except Bolin doesn't know who they are until later and ends up reenacting the fanboy moment he had when he first met Korra but with the new Avatar and ends up being their earthbending master. And old lady Jinora definitely needs to come back not just to teach airbending but tell all the wild stories she has b/c she has so many just from the ones with Korra, and her siblings dynamic in old age should appear I wanna see them grown up. And even tho widowed Asami sounds sad, I want Asami to outlive Korra so she can appear as another connection and maybe possibly interact with late spirit-Korra via the new Avatar's past lives omg we need a old lady couple reunion ahh T.T
I can totally relate, Anon. I've been binge-watching TLOK and scrolling through ATLA content recently, as well as reading some fics. I haven't been in a fandom before and only discovered AO3 in 2021. I know, it sounds so dumb of me, lol.
Yeah, I saw the character design for the new Earth Avatar, and he's bulky! He reminds me of Bolin and Iroh II. Oh, please, I love this idea—Bolin would definitely sound like Bumi. And he could be his master because I can't think of anyone in Korra's generation who could be a master, unless they introduce a new character.
I still can't move on from the idea that Korra is gone. In my head, she's still happily married to Asami and doing mundane things with their adoptive kid(s) (if they decide to adopt). Also, I'm curious about what Korra would look like when the new Avatar tries to reconnect with her. Hear me out; she's definitely going to be hot. Ugh, I need to draw this.
