I watched TWO!!! Two episodes of ATLA in honor of the live action coming out and I am SPIRALING at how perfect ATLA was and how sad I am about how makorra was handled/written!! (I want to rewatch korra season 1 but I think i will actually go insane)

So about that dark B1 scene…

I learned something new from reddit today.

Korra, in her own words, “wasn’t the avatar anymore” and she wasn’t at the edge of that cliff to self-reflect. She came pretty close to following her fears all the way down.

I didn’t catch that on my first watch. Or my second watch. That healing hut was full of her friends and loved ones and not one of them realized how deeply losing three elements had cut into Korra.

Not one…save for the person who didn’t give a fuck whether she was the Avatar or not.

He followed her. Even when Tenzin told him not to. Even when she yelled at him to go back to his city where he belongs, he followed her.

Because he will always follow her. No matter how crazy things get.

Are we really supposed to sit here and not ship this?? I am not okay.

while asami was not there (she was never shown supporting Korra before you go remembrances she failed to support Korra all she could do is go of course you are the avatar when her whole issue was focusing on Korra the avatar not the person. Tenzin succeeded in helping Korra by bringing up korra's growth as a person, and mako made a speech about Korra the person.

asami had no reason not to come with Korra.

I mean varrick could have done the display of the experiments on his own so you cant compare this to the episode where zuko and katara go to confront the southern raiders because aang had a moral basis not to come with katara

Im not aure if you're still active, it's fine if you're not, but I'm still upset makorra didn't happen. They had so many cinematic cues it's upsetting. Sincerely, someone who recently rewatched LOK.

Hi hi! I'm not super active on this blog anymore, but every once in a blue moon I'll reblog stuff lol.

I'm also still sad about makorra ;_; the setup was there and everything, it's honestly confusing and frustrating just from a cinematic standpoint.

I've been cooking an LOK rewrite in my brain for a long time, and maybe one day I'll post it, haha. There's so many things in the series that I wasn't satisfied with, so I think it could be a fun project (not that I'm a professional or anything haha).

Makorra Week 2023: Day 6 – First Date (AKA: HAPPY BIRTHDAY @messymosaic!!!)

Thank you to the brilliant @becasart for this absolutely breath-taking commission for @makorra-week-2023! I am...criminally late (sorry...yada yada life happens yada). But, I figure that this glorious work doubling as a way to say Happy Birthday to the great @messymosaic is the PERFECT opportunity 🥹💙🥳🎂🎊🎉

Headcanon rambles under the cut:

I imagine this taking place after the B1 finale, the evening of the day Korra got her bending back. It’s going to be a couple of days until the next boat for Republic City, and there is plenty of work awaiting Korra there. So until then, she has some time. They have some time 🥰 

Korra chose to take Mako to a favorite spot of hers: a remote glade with an open view of the Southern Lights. It was one of her favorite spots to visit on the rare occasions she was let out of the compound. She’s never shared it with anyone other than Naga, and she secretly wanted to see Mr. Cool Guy’s eyes light up when he saw that glowing skyline 😏

Needless to say, she had him speechless. But while those Southern Lights easily eclipsed all of Republic City’s most boastful views, the most beautiful sight for Mako was the smiling figure looking right back at him. She is his Avatar, and he’s her Idiot ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
