Sooo there was that whole weird thing where Harry was trying to do that Texas rodeo in early March 2022? Nothing seems to have come of it but it was super weird. The staff there said at the time "he was going to enter the bull riding but the airline lost his rigging bag"
Then Frogmore was being discussed March/April 2022, after which Harry comes out with the statement that he is 'protecting' the Queen from 'those around her'. But they knew their lease was up. He openly says to Hoda Kotb that "home for me now, for the time being, is in the United States".
In early May 2022, NF cancelled Pearl, so they started to panic about having content. They had hoped they could ride on the 'success' of releasing Pearl until they could build up more royal + invictus footage. So they hit up the polo, and Meghan does Uvalde. Unsurprisingly NF wants nothing to do with this weird pivot to Texas, or non-royal polo.
End of May, Harry takes a bike ride with one of the Van Strawberries, probably learning that Chelsea got married that month. And another Met Gala comes and goes without invites to Meghan. This wasn't how they imagined things going at all!!!
So they call up Misan in June 2022, and task him with photographing Lili for the birthday. But they also probably get him to take as many other pics as possible while there - perhaps those professional looking photos of the duo in the Queen's childhood wendy house?
They pack everything up in June, sob, take pics, finish packing, sob, and take more pics. The royals don't want a circus and H&M don't want to admit to losing Frogmore, so no one leaks about the arrangement. But H&M finally have some recent 'royal content' to hand over.
Barely 2 months later in September and the Queen passes, to everyone's surprise. H&M's original plans are completely screwed, with Meghan acknowledging their doco in October but claiming "it may not be the way we would have told it". NF doesn't care and just wants to get something out of them at this point to justify their deal.
The doco gets pushed out in December 2022, when they wanted the book to come out first (the negative stuff) and the doco second (the love/overcoming/triumph stuff). With the book out in early 2023, it's clear all bridges have been burnt. Worse, the book sunk Harry's remaining popularity like a lead balloon.
The royals have finally got around to figuring out royal residences post-Queen, and tell Harry to hurry up and move his "ornate Ottoman bench and a chaise longue" over to Casa Olivegarden. The press finally picks up on the fact that H&M no longer rent Frogmore.
To try to claw back some sympathy, they trot out Omid to tell everyone what a "cruel and unusual punishment" this is. Unfortunately it just so happens that the news coincides with being papped at an exclusive private dining club. Hence no sympathy.
#timeline
All excellent points and I totally forgot about the odd rodeo appearance. You are right that they absolutely could not have afforded to let the news about Frogmore leak before their reality show aired, because they did their damndest to film everything they could while they could on that property. They needed to showcase it as a "current home in the UK". Which brings us to January, which again, they could not let the news distract from Harry's book. I guess they were saving it for their reconciliation tour turned victim tour 8984.0

UK Times skewers H&M...
After a month of glorious silence, Meghan’s back — as wronged and stoic as ever
Hilary Rose
Wednesday October 05 2022, 12.00pm, The Times
Because I always strive to be a happy little elf, I will start with the happy news. It’s been four weeks, nearly a whole month of glorious silence, since the last episode of Meghan’s podcast.
To recap, previous episodes proved to be the most persuasive argument ever heard for living off-grid. The Duchess of Sussex delayed the next one until the official mourning period for the Queen was over and, to be fair, a month without Meghan is surely what the Queen would have wanted.
But all good things must come to an end and now she’s back, as wronged and stoic as ever, telling the sad truths we must all take on board if we are to become better people. Or something. I won’t lie, these are tough times to be a happy little elf, although the news this week that she employs a fact-checker on the podcast is beyond parody and cheered me up no end. Is one enough? Will she ever develop the ability to fact-check before she opens her mouth?
● Meghan Markle’s Archetypes podcast review — almost entirely preposterous
In this episode, she starts strongly, if incomprehensibly, with ghormeh and larb. Apparently they’re foodstuffs. Her guest is Margaret Cho, a successful Asian-American actress, activist and comedian. Cho has many interesting things to say about the perceptions and stereotypes surrounding Asian-American women, and whole seconds go by in which she is allowed to say them uninterrupted.
Ultimately, though, it falls to Meghan to point out that “all people” are multidimensional and layered, although no mention of elves, which makes me wonder if I am truly seen. She also confides that she loves Los Angeles because it is “full of culture”, which makes me sad, not happy, because if only we had some culture of our own, maybe she’d have stuck around.
It’s been a busy time for the Sussexes. Watching the Queen’s funeral, did they recall hitting back at her with the jibe “Everyone can live a life of service”? Probably not. The brand building is going brilliantly, though, or at least better than that tin-eared visit to a Californian cemetery on Remembrance Sunday.
Only yesterday, in a last desperate plea for privacy, they released new photographs of themselves. Meghan goes for smouldering stateswoman. Harry, bless him, manages something closer to gormless or, in the word of royal biographer Hugo Vickers, sad.
Tumblr media
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured holding hands before attending the opening ceremony of One Young World in September -- MISAN HARRIMAN
Back home in California, there are reports that they’re trying to row back on the Netflix documentary that pays the mortgage, and that Harry is frantically trying to tone down his memoir now that his father is King. He might be panicking because it’s too mean about Camilla, as some suspect, or he might just want to bring it bang up to date with all the many slights he no doubt feels they suffered while they were here. Some were uniform related, as they always are.
My favourite is the story that Meghan had to be banned from going to Scotland, a country she usually flies straight over. Just this summer, the couple allegedly declined to holiday at Balmoral, when the Queen was still alive, but perhaps the fact-checker can get to the bottom of it.
They’ve parted ways from their American PR company, Sunshine Sachs, which successfully remained in their employment for more than half an hour and deserves a long-service medal with the P45. And they appear to have suffered the indignity of being NFI to the launch of George and Amal Clooney’s charitable foundation.
For legal reasons, we must consider the possibility that they were invited but chose not to go, before snorting into our tea and proceeding. The event featured exactly the sort of Obama-heavy guest list they’d like to be on, and it is exactly the sort of glitzy foundation, honouring worthy people, which they’re struggling to establish for themselves, possibly because the fascination with their navels remains strong.
We don’t yet know the pain they’re feeling about the continued uncertainty over Archie and Lilibet’s titles, but we can be sure they’ll keep it to themselves. Harry spent his entire life cursing his royal title, so it must be excruciating for him that his children may never get to experience the full horror of being an HRH.
Anyone who thinks, “Hmmm, didn’t he once speak about severing the cycle of genetic pain suffered by royal children?” must have misremembered, as Meghan once told a High Court judge. I will leave you with Meghan’s closing remarks, as rendered by the transcript of the podcast, which it warns is automatically generated and may not be accurate. Judge for yourself. I’m just an elf.
“Be yourself your full complete whole layered, sometimes weird, sometimes awesome, but always best.” Quite so. I couldn’t have put it better myself.

Stars shine the brightest during a supernova
this is crossposted from ao3
warning there is one misspelling i only corrected on ao3 and not my notes so i dont remember where it is, ignore it
this fic is gonna be 10x better if youre listening to first love/late spring from mitski while reading it
also if you take this in a shipping way i will personally murder you
as much as we dont want to admit it, the most powerful moment for everything in the universe is when they are the most vulnerable. The most common example of this would be a supernova, a stars death. As dust clouds drift away from their original position, the former star gives off bright light, light so bright it would blind you the moment you looked at it.
humans are no exception of this fundamental law. we never see someone truely, until they finally let themselves be vulnerable and break down.
this especially was the case for one person, Yoshi Nanase. Everyone knew him as Nanashi, nevertheless, everyone had separate opinions of him. Some thought he was weird, some people loved him, may it be a little too much. Out of all the people he knew and had grown to care for, only 2 people knew him, or atleast, one of them believed she had known him.
Misane had known Nanashi for awhile, wether it was in the year 2230 or in the year 2222, she believed she had known him. She couldnt have been farther from the truth, until the day she had finally gotten Nanashi to break down and finally let himself be vulnerable around someone.
Almost everyone knew Nanashi wasn't alright mentally. From his comments about him hating himself, to the small comments hes made about how much he had been bullied. What most people didn't know though, is that even with his small comments on his mental health, very few people had seem him when he let himself be vulnerable.
The truth was, even with how much he loved everyone, not everyone had loved him. After he had dropped out of middle school due to bullying, he had learnt to hide his emotions from people, all so he wouldnt get hurt again. If he let himself be too vulnerable, he would just end up back where he started, being bullied to the point he was constantly coming home with bruises and other small injuries.
up until summer, the only person he had ever let himself be someone vulnerable around was his cousin, Mikado. Of course, Mikado already knew Nanashi was hiding his emotions, they were the same after all. Mikado couldnt say anything though, not like its easy to tell your younger self youre from the future.
But, that one summer, had changed everything for Nanashi. Who wouldve guessed finding a girl in your bed one day would change the entire course of fate. Misane was also pretty aware of Nanashis mental problems, but not as well as she believed she did. She had known him in the future, but the version who she was standing next to in the control room at the top of the 307 tower right now, was a completely different person.
"The control room is up a head"
They were in a comfortable silence up until this point, so the sudden words caught the white-haired boys attention. Why say something now?
"hm? Misane-chan?"
The shorter girl lowered her head ever so slightly, before turning to Nanashi "first let me apologize," She had started "I hid many things from you. Even if it caused you to hate me, even if it caused you to lose trust in me... I did it wholly out of the desire to help you, Nanashi."
Obviously considering how much Nanashi had loved misane, albeit platonically, he didn't get the comment. He couldnt hate her even if he wanted to. What he also didnt get, is why Misane had gone out of her way to help him so often.
"... why?"
"What I feared most was... that you would choose to vanish from this world. That... that was scarier than anything."
Nanashi let out a small, sad, laugh before continuing the conversation
"No, I was wondering why you went that far for me?"
"well, thats as I said before." Misane quickly caught on to the fact Nanashi wasnt alright in this moment. "...it was quite embarrassing to say"
"Still, if that troubled you, Misane-chan... If it made you unhappy, I'd hate that"
Nanashis expression quickly changed. He almost immediately went from the usually happy, yet off putting guy, she thought she had known, to finally showing how he truely felt. His voice tone also changed with him, normally it was very bouncy and higher pitched, but, he had lost the spark in his voice.
"I dont want to meddle to much in people being happy or not. But I couldnt stand it if I was responsible for troubling them," The taller boy had glanced away from her before continuing, "It wouldn't matter if and when I vanished. Like everyone says, I'm worthless. I don't think anything of being unhappy, I dont mind"
Nanashi had tried to add a small laugh onto the end to make it seem more lighthearted than it was. Though, it almost made it sadded.
It was obvious to Misane at that point he was lying. She knew he was affected by how people thought of him, no matter how much he lied and said he wasn't bothered.
Nanashi had finally looked back to her, "so why..? Dont be so nice to the likes of me"
"... Is that all you wanted to say?"
"I dont have a name. I dont have a 'me'. I want to fit in like someones lost puzzle piece"
"All pieces have their own shape. Even you.... have one"
Nanashi had began to slowly back up from her, out of instinct.
"I know. The more time people spend with me, the more they begin to feel a certain feeling. one they didnt start with."
Everything Nanashi had started saying hurt Misane, more than his self deprecating comments already did
"And thats fine. In fact, its correct! I dont know why theres something wrong. so it must be myself whos wrong"
He began laughing. Not in a cute or funny way, but in a way that made Misanes stomach clench. She hated how he can go on about stuff like this, then just laugh. For Nanashi however, he was only laughing to keep himself from crying.
"Out of billions, im all alone. It doesnt matter i f I exist or not, does it?"
"Are you done!?"
Misane had stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his waist. Nanashi had stumbled backwards, he wasn't exactly expecting her to pull him into a hug like this.
"...misane-chan?"
She had moved her chin onto his shoulder, it was comfier for them both. Misane had continued to hold him like that in silence for a few moments to give him time to process the sudden embrace from his best friend
"I told you before, I like you. So I want you to know sorrow from happiness! It wouldnt be any burden at all on me!"
Nanashi had finally returned the embrace, even if not fully
" You aren't worthless. Someone said you were just like a program - but he was wrong!
Nanashi, you're just clumsy, a little slow, overeager"
Misane had finally begun to slow down her scentences.
"A little cowardly... and too kind. that's all"
"no... dont do this. I don't know what to do..."
Nanashi didn't know how to react. He was so used to everyone constantly making fun of him or physically hurting him. He wasn't used to actually being cared for.
"I dont know what I'm supposed to do here... what is this..?"
"thats your heart. Its your self" Misane was releaved she had gotten through to him. Even if it pained her in the process
"You arent nameless. Youre Yoshi Nanase! the Yoshi Nanase... who I... love. ... You can show yourself. More and more of yourself!"
Nanashi had wrapped his arms tighter around her, properly returning the hug
"So can I... laugh?"
"yes"
"can I yell?"
"yes"
Nanashi knew what he wanted to say next. even if he was terrified to. He had buried his face into the smaller girls shoulder
"well... can I... cry?"
"yes."

-1bitHeart-
Nov, 28,2023,
Hi, I'm new here. I've been wanting to create a blog for a long time now. I wasn't sure how to start a blog, what exactly should I share. I meaan...I have a lot to share but I was thinking to my self..should I just be consistent and stick to one thing or would it be ok to do a little bit of everthing?? Well I guess we'll see since I'm kinda..winging it. lol
Today I'd like to share with you what I've been up to recently. I decided to give youtube a try. I love to game and thought why not..it might be fun. I recently finished a game and posted the short series. I still have a lot to learn about editing so it's not great to be honest but the good thing is I've learned a lot for my first time.Oh yes..from the many mistakes. It was not so fun starting over a lot, I'll tell you that ,yet I hope the next series is much better and maybe I'll even have some commentary.
The game I recently completed and posted on youtube is called 1bitHeart. It is created by, not a very well known, developer Miwashiba. This Japanese dev is from Fukuoka and has illustrated and created various cute and interesting RPG games. Miwashiba is known for creating their own pixel adventure games Alicemare, LiEat series,1bitHeart and the sequel 1BeatHeart.I just found out, while doing some research, that pool of creativity has not run dry just yet. In fact, there is a game in production right now by the name of The Faceless Double. You can find all of the games on steam; all but one,1BeatHeart.The game is available and you can find it here on this link.I have yet to give the game a try but so far the big difference I see between them is the more dull or muted colors and maybe less cuteness? It doesn't seem to be going on steam anytime soon so I'm a little hesitant to give it a go.
So far, all of the games that are available on steam are also published under the same publisher, PLAYISM. They publish a variety of genres. From story-focused games to Horror to strategy etc.
Now, I'll be honest, I didn't dive too much into the dev or the publisher so sorry I have no idea if there is any juicy gossip lol. I do though, want to tell you a little bit more about the game,1bitHeart. As far as I know, the game was released on steam back in 2017. The game is set in Japan, in the near future, where technology has progressed to the point that I'd say it's somewhat similar to now in our lives; it is used pretty much everyday, everywhere. It dominates the lives of everyone.
In the game, we play a young guy by the name of Nanashi, who spends most of his time indoors. He is very intelligent but a bit socially awkward. He meets a young girl by the name of Misane. While out making friends and solving mysteries, he learns of a frightening plot to take control of people via hacking. Together they set out to stop the people behind this evil plot.
I have yet to play the other games myself but I can tell you that this game, compared to the others, it's a 2D side scroller instead of using the top down perspective the others used. This allows for larger side view portraits of the game's many characters which lets the game to emphasize Miwashiba's incredible skill at designing cute characters and more detailed during dialogue. The game doesn't have turn based battles like LiEat, according to some other reviews, and also isn't solely based on exploration like Alicemare. The game has it's own systems. The hints being one, that helped me, which you get to chose to have them on or off in the very beginning. When you come across hackers and they attempt to hack the player, you defend yourself by directional inputs; which are basic. Still, the game is fun when you have to play detective and have the subsequent confrontations. You also progress the story by solving the various cases through the chapters during which you need to gather information and evidence.
Stardew Valley is a game I have played, but not finished but I can tell you that in the same way that you are able to give gifts to the characters that hang around the town in 1bitHeart you do the same. You'll trigger scenes once you become better friends with them but you are not able to romance any of the characters like in SV. This leads to one of the most impressive parts: there are actually about 48 characters in all that are spread across the town. Each with their own story, personality and style. The end goal, depending on what end you want, is of course, for these characters to become the main character's friend. You can see the amount of love and effort that was put into the game. In a review I read that the backgrounds during character's dialogue could use a little work. They probably could but I think it was done that way so the characters and their dialogue was the main focus.
Like I mentioned earlier, you need to give gifts to the characters in order to be friends but you need money or bits to buy gifts. You get bits by playing tetris-type minigames but it'll take A LOT of grinding=time to get enough bits to befriend everyone. Fortunately, the dev was aware of this flaw, as there is a secret in the game to acquire endless bits=endless gifts.
Honestly, I enjoyed the soundtrack. It's ok. One of my favorites its the opening theme.
youtube
The biggest gripe I have with the game is that I didn't see the option for borderless windowed or something to prevent the game from minimizing. The game would minimize each and every time I clicked out of the game. It was very frustrating and annoying. Honestly, it's one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to play them to record them.
I wonder if streaming would be easier in this case?? I don't want to totally give up.Anyway..If you made it this far, THANK YOU for taking the time to read my blog today. Let me know what your thoughts are...til next time!

without a doubt
rowan x lorcan, modern au, yulemas au, word count: 2098
“Darling, please,” his boyfriend laughs, “stop pouting.”
Rowan frowns and tucks his chin into the collar of his hoodie. Lorcan’s hoodie, actually. “I am not pouting. I’m upset.”
Through the screen of the laptop, Lorcan’s image is grainy. His smile dims slightly, “I know. I’m sorry, Ro. I was really sure that we would be done by now.” He flicks his eyes to the side and the muscles in his sharp jaw feather. His dark brows lower and he mutters, “I never would’ve taken it if I knew I’d be gone this long.”
“I know, my love,” Rowan whispers, subtly wiping away the silver that lines his eyes. “But this is your dream. It’s always been your dream, L. I can’t be the reason you give that all up, you know?”
Lorcan nods, that frown still on his fiercely beautiful face. He looks down and picks at his bedspread, “Yeah, I know.” Quickly, he snaps his head up, his eyes ablaze, “I would though. I’d give it all up for you, if you asked.”
The words rest on the tip of his tongue. Rowan almost blurts them out, but he doesn’t. Instead he smiles softly to hide the aching, yearning feeling that never quite dulls. “But I’m not asking you. So you’re stuck there.”
Lorcan laughs humorlessly and his eyes sparkle, “Yeah, I know.” It falls kind of flat. If they were together, Rowan would kiss him and they would forget all about it all. “Oh, I got you your Yulemas gift today. Putting it in the mail tomorrow.”
“Oh, really? Will I like it?” Rowan shifts to lie on his stomach and props his chin up on a ring-laden fist.
“Rowan Whitethorn!” Lorcan gives him an offended look, “When have I ever gotten you something you haven’t liked?”
Rowan laughs and concedes, “You’re right, you’re right. You truly are the gift master.”
“I know,” Lorcan replies smugly. He stretches his bare arms above his head and tucks his hands behind him, his head cradled by his inked biceps. “You’re a very… appreciative receiver.” With his cocky grin, there’s no way to ignore the implication.
An outraged gasp escapes Rowan, “Are you calling me a whore?”
Lorcan laughs, “No, I am not calling you a whore. You can have the qualities of a label and not be the label.”
“You are calling me a whore! Oh my gods, I hate you,” Rowan complains, his green eyes narrowed in warning. “Maybe it’s a good thing you aren’t here ‘cause I could kill you right now.”
“Oh, I love it when you sweet talk me, baby. Reminds me of how you stole my heart.”
Rowan snorts and grabs a pillow to cushion his chin, “I love you. And I wish I could say it in person.”
His boyfriend’s face softens. Lorcan says back, “I love you too and I wish you could hear it for real.”
They smile at each other, eyes filled with longing and reverent adoration. Until hours later, when they both fall asleep without bothering to hang up, they talk about everything and nothing at all. It mends their incomplete souls, even if just for a moment.
 ☽ ☼ ☾
“Happy Yulemas Eve!”
Rowan smiles and accepts the hug Aelin pulls him into, “Happy Yulemas Eve, Fireheart. Is everyone here already?” He looks over his friend’s head down the front hall of her apartment.
They step back and Aelin nods, “Yeah, they’re all here. Well, almost.”
He nods and steps in, “Yeah… he- he tried, you know, but there wasn’t any way.” Rowan shrugs his coat off and hangs it up. “It’s fine. He promised to call and say ‘hey’ later, during presents.”
The golden-haired woman grins and takes his bag of gifts, “That’ll be nice - we all miss him. Now,” she tucks her hand into his elbow and tugs him in, “come along, there’s lots to do!”
In the open-concept living room, their friends are already there, at varying levels of sobriety. They call out their cheerful greetings as Aelin puts Rowan’s presents beneath the tree. Fenrys surges to his feet, “Rowan!”
Rowan laughs at the sight of his drunken friend, “Hey, bud. How are you doing?”
“I’m very, very, very good,” Fenrys slurs. “Ress is here, did you see?” He casts an adoring look at his boyfriend, who blushes like always. “He’s my boyfriend.”
“I know, Fen,” Rowan says, his bright grin not quite reaching his eyes.
“Oh! Oh no, I’ve upset you,” Fenrys exclaims, his face twisted in wasted anguish. He throws his arms around Rowan and pats the top of his head, “Oh, it’s ok, it’s ok. Lor’s a miserable misan—”
“Ok, Fenrys, why don’t we go somewhere else, hmm?” Lysandra interjects, pulling Fenrys away. She kisses Rowan’s cheek, pushing him to the kitchen like a perfect hostess should. “There’s food and drinks in the kitchen and dinner will be ready in half an hour - help yourself, ‘kay?”
Rowan nods and walks to the kitchen, quietly filling a plate. A petite woman slips up to him, a drink in hand for him, “Hello, Rowan. How are you?”
He smiles as he pops an olive into his mouth, “Hey, El.” Rowan shrugs, “I’m… fine. I’m fine. Really, it’s…”
“Fine?” Elide suggests, a cheeky grin on her heart-shaped face.
“Yeah,” Rowan sighs.
She leans against him, rubbing his back soothingly, “Ok, well, c’mon to the living room and sit with me. Borte and Aelin are going at it again.” Elide pulls him to the couch without waiting for his response.
For a while, Rowan forgets about being alone. Around him, his family talks animatedly, egging the two most chaotic members on as they battle over the finale to some show they’re both obsessed with. The others watch with rapt attention, laughing outrageously at the things Borte and Aelin say.
In a lull of silence, Rowan stands up, “I’m going to step out for a bit. Too warm.” He walks to the balcony as the conversation resumes, albeit much quieter. Everyone turns to their respective partners, whispering soft nothings and laughing at stupid jokes. His breath hitches and Rowan looks to the kitchen just in time to see Lysandra hold a sprig of mistletoe over Aelin’s head and the couple kisses, smiling as they press their lips together.
His chest squeezes painfully tight. Tears burn his eyes and Rowan rushes outside. It’s bitterly cold and the sharp winter wind nips at his face. He sniffles, blowing out a long breath to keep his tears at bay. It’s stupid.
In the pocket of his oversized corduroys, Rowan feels his phone buzz. He hastily pulls it out with clumsy, half-frozen fingers. He expects to see Lorcan’s contact flashing over the screen with a waiting call, but all he sees is a text message.
lover boy <3: srry ro smthng came up
lover boy <3: can’t call tn
lover boy <3: luv u
All his air escapes him in a pathetic, teary exhale. Rowan shakes his head in disbelief and types back quickly.
pretty boy: are you sure? i really miss you
lover boy <3: i’ll call tmrw
lover boy <3: promise
Rowan sighs and replies resignedly.
pretty boy: ok love
pretty boy: i love you too
Rowan shuts his phone off and wipes his eyes, cursing himself for his tears.
Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? Asks a hissing voice. His ears burn in shame. He’s finally doing what he’s always wanted to - why aren’t you happy for him? He would be happy for you.
Rowan shakes his head to dispel the thoughts and puts his phone in his pocket. He pushes his silver-blond curls off and braces his hands against the railing. After a few minutes, the glass door slides open and someone steps out, “Ro? Is everything alright? We’re going to open gifts now.”
“Y-yeah, everything’s fine. Something came up and Lor can’t call tonight.” He turns, shrugging his shoulder up. “It’s fine.” Rowan drags his red and silver lined eyes up to Aelin’s. “I’m fine.”
“Oh, honey, I’m so sorry.” She steps out and takes his hand, “Come on, we’ve got presents.”
He smiles and lets her pull him inside. He’s ushered to a seat and handed a mug of mulled wine.
Aelin peruses the available gifts and picks a slim box up, “And this one is for Rowan, from his very own lover boy.” She passes it to Rowan who takes it. He traces the tip of his finger over the label, smiling at his boyfriend’s looping handwriting.
Rowan doesn’t bother to be patient and tears into it, not noticing the tittering giggles and scurrying feet behind him. He tosses the wrapping paper to the side and eases the top of the box off.
Whatever’s inside is covered in tissue paper. Rowan carefully opens it, puzzled as he sees a folded slip of paper. He takes it out and glances into the box, but there’s nothing more. “Oh.” He unfolds it and reads it quickly.
turn around - L
Rowan frowns and puts the box down. “What is this?” He looks up and their faces are pink with barely controlled glee. “Guys, what did you do?”
From behind him, he hears a dry, dark chuckle. “Won’t you turn around, my darling?”
A half sob escapes Rowan and he stands up, the note fluttering to the floor as he turns. In the hall, Lorcan stands. He smiles a tired, weary smile, but it’s lazy and easy and golden and Lorcan. “Lor?” Rowan runs towards him, crashing into his boyfriend. He clutches at the back of Lorcan’s jacket, his smile blinding.
Lorcan laughs quietly and pulls Rowan close, his big arms around the green-eyed man’s waist, “Hey, Ro.”
“Hi,” Rowan whispers, tears caught in his lashes. “Are you really here?” He lifts his head, eyes searching Lorcan’s face.
Instead of answering, Lorcan closes the distance between them and kisses Rowan deeply. Rowan melts into the embrace and softly sighs his boyfriend’s name, slim fingers sliding into dark hair.
“Good gods, get a room already,” Aelin heckles cheerily.
Lorcan bites Rowan’s lower lip and flips Aelin off as he slides his tongue over Rowan’s. Rowan hums sweetly and pulls away, his lip tucked between his teeth, “What are you doing here? What about work?”
“I quit,” Lorcan says proudly, his eyes bright.
Rowan gapes at him and pushes his boyfriend backwards, “You what? Lorcan!” He smacks his boyfriend’s shoulder, “You love that job. Oh my gods, you did this for me, didn’t you? Didn’t you?”
Lorcan grins widely, tugging Rowan back into his arms, “I’m sorry, pretty boy, but I did. No matter how much I liked it, I couldn’t be without you for that long.”
“But,” Rowan makes a helpless gesture, not entirely sure why he’s fighting this, “you love that job.”
“Yeah,” Lorcan bumps the tip of his cold nose into Rowan’s and pecks his lips, “but I love you more. I couldn’t enjoy it ‘cause I was missing you all the time.”
Rowan can’t articulate everything he wants to say, so he hopes his kiss does it for him, “I love you so much. So much, love.” He lazily cradles the back of Lorcan’s head.
“Hellas below, you have no idea how badly I’ve wanted to hear that for real,” Lorcan murmurs. “I love love love you.”
Behind them, their friends start to catcall and whistle in appreciation. They break apart, cheeks burning and lips love-bitten. Reluctantly, the couple walks into the living room. Rowan sits down in the oversized armchair and picks up his drink. As Lorcan goes around, saying hello to everyone, Aelin perches herself on the arm of Rowan’s seat and toys with his light curls, “So, how do you like your gift?”
“You- this was you? You did this for me?”
“Oh,” she laughs merrily, “I wish I could take credit for it, but I only helped with the getting him here. This idea was all your mans.” Aelin tilts her head to the side, “Best Yulemas ever?”
Rowan looks up to find Lorcan already looking his way. The dark-haired man walks over to him and bumps Aelin out of the way with an expert hip check, “What are you two talking about?” Lorcan sits down beside Rowan and slides his hand into the hair at the back of Rowan’s head.
Rowan rests his chin on Lorcan’s shoulder and kisses the skin beneath his jaw, “This being the best Yulemas ever.”
“Really? That good, hmm?”
“Mmm,” Rowan smiles and kisses him softly, “without a doubt.” He nuzzles his nose against Lorcan’s, “Best Yulemas ever.”

Lewis Hamilton: ‘There are so many things to fight for’
In his 14th season in Formula One, Lewis Hamilton has won more races than anyone else. And with his win in Turkey earlier this month, he achieved a milestone not just in his career but in the history of his sport: a seventh world title. But it’s also his actions off the circuit that make him our Game Changer Of The Year, as he takes a knee and raises a fist for the global Black Lives Matter movement
By any standards, even if Lewis Hamilton hadn’t spoken into a single microphone this year and hadn’t sent a single tweet and hadn’t once bent knee to ground in order to shake up the very male and oh-so-pale world of Formula One, he would have had one of the most remarkable years of his life. In winning the Portuguese Grand Prix in October, the 35-year-old surpassed Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 race wins, a feat most in the sport felt untouchable. And with his victory at the Turkish Grand Prix earlier this month, he equalled the German’s seven world championships. As his race engineer Peter Bonnington succinctly put it, “You are rewriting the history books.”
But GQ’s Game Changer Of The Year is not only a sporting great: he has quite literally used his exalted platform – or, more specifically, podium – to raise the issue of race in a sport for which it rarely comes up, precisely because there are so few black faces in it. In taking a knee before races – and even making his team change the colour of its car – he has pushed for change in a world that badly needed changing, consequences and criticisms be damned. GQ spoke to him as he was on the cusp of claiming his seventh championship and found that, both on and off the track, he’s just getting started...
Misan Harriman: What was your motivation when you first decided to take the knee?
Lewis Hamilton: I remember watching the video [of George Floyd’s death]. This life extinguished in front of my eyes by the people who are hired to protect others, and I heard when he was calling for his mum. This happens time and time again and that’s why there’s been such a large cry out. When I was watching it, tears came, so many emotions came up. It brought stuff up of my past. I started experiencing racism when I was five and people looked upon it so lightly, when someone would throw out these words, the bullying and the beatings and the intimidation... My dad always said, “Do your talking on the track,” so I held my tongue, but we suppress a lot of things and all my suppressed emotions came up and I was like, “You know what? I have to do something. I cannot stay silent.” If we all stay silent, it will continue for generations. I look at my niece and nephew and do not want them to experience what I experienced.
How do you feel about the response from F1? Thirteen drivers knelt with you in Spain and I think seven didn’t...
It’s not always a good thing for me, but I often post out of just kneejerk reaction, passion. And I called everyone out. I see all of you out there who have platforms, who have a following and just stay quiet. My team was the first to react. Since I joined, I remember mentioning that this team is not diverse. Year on year, I would talk about how our team is not diverse, how our sport is not diverse. So I got to sit down with my team and get into deep conversation of what is going on. And, you know, we changed the car to black and that had to go through a chain of command. Everyone got on board and it was overwhelming to see the response from our partners, because logo colours had to change. Brands put the issue first rather than themselves. I think as a sport, they were very, very nervous of what the right steps were. We saw the reaction: 13 drivers, as you said, took the knee. Obviously, the ones that didn’t, I don’t know if some drivers were like, “I’m not doing it because this is what Lewis is doing” or whether they didn’t get it... I think there are plenty of people in our sport that still don’t understand what we’re doing.
Do you think it helps that your record is so extraordinary that it adds to your ability to do this within the sport? If you weren’t winning, would it be harder?
Well, you can look at some other sports and there’s some people that aren’t super successful yet, but the more successful [you are], the wider your audience, the wider the impact. I’ve had a very, very difficult life and I’ve been thinking a lot about all these wins. I’ve had a lot of success in my racing career. It’s a great feeling, it’s a real privilege, but what does it really mean? All these numbers... what is it? Why was I the one who was chosen to represent black people in our sport? But I think as my life is unravelling, as the journey unravels itself, my purpose here is to utilise my voice to help encourage change. And my goal, really, is to shift the sport in a direction that it perhaps wouldn’t have gone if I wasn’t here. And most certainly not have gone if the Black Lives Matter movement hadn’t started, if George’s life wasn’t so visible.
You were critical of Vitaly Petrov’s comments about Black Lives Matter before the Portuguese Grand Prix. Was it a mistake for the FIA to appoint him as race steward?
I don’t know whether they call it a mistake. I think that the FIA is a large organisation and they are leaders and if you’re going to state what your values are and what you fight for, yet you hire people who don’t seem to have those in common... I don’t understand. I don’t personally get that. I don’t really know the guy very well and I won’t really comment about whether he’s good or not – I think his results speak for themselves over his career – but I thought that it was a step in the wrong direction or even a step backwards. But, you know, you look at Donald Trump, people can obviously see he’s racist. He even said, “I am the least racist person in this room,” so he’s acknowledging [it]. But people are willing to put aside the fact that he’s said so many bad things about minorities, for wealth or for other policies.
Formula One rules were changed after the Tuscan Grand Prix to effectively ban T-shirts with political statements after your Breonna Taylor message. Will you ignore those rules in the future?
If I believe it is important enough, I will. I will do it again. Going into that weekend, the case with Breonna Taylor had really been on my mind and I’ve been chasing down this shirt for weeks. Every weekend that I arrive, we have the spotlight on us and every weekend there is an opportunity to raise awareness. We don’t live in a time when everything is OK. And I remember as I went through the day I was like, “OK, I’ve got to win this race. I can’t come second and wear this top.” So I remember racing my heart out, pushing with every ounce for first place and I remember getting that win and I was like, “OK. I’m here for you, Breonna.” And I put that shirt on and in the 70 years of our sport, no one’s ever stood up there for anything but themselves. And I was standing up there for someone else. It was one of the greatest feelings.
You’re virtually in uncharted territory, on the verge of a record-equalling seventh F1 world championship. Is it sinking in? Is your operating system even able to process what that means?
I remember winning my first championship when I was ten years old and I remember how great that day was. My dad was – is – a tough man. It was really not easy to make that man happy, but I remember winning that championship and we had the best moment – we went away singing, “We are the champions.” And I remember the relief I had in that period of time, because I wasn’t good at anything else. I struggled at school, no matter how hard I tried. Then I won these other championships and, as I started getting older, I realised it doesn’t change anything. Like, it’s a relief of tension for a second, the muscle can let go, but then you’re like, “OK. What’s next?” And it’s taken time to be present and enjoy the moment for a longer period, because it passes so fast. I never thought I’d get to seven. No one ever believed that I would ever get to seven. And now I’m on the verge of equalling the most successful driver of all time and [have] more race wins and I have a chance to potentially go and win more championships. Even if you just take my name away, there will always be at the pinnacle of our sport someone of colour. So I’m very proud of that and I think that’s probably the thing I’m going to be most proud of.
Do you think you have reached your own limits or do you think you can get even better? And would you love to race everyone in the same car, without any advantage?
Well, firstly, on the driving side of things, you know, I was just doing the race yesterday and I was going through this race realising that I’m getting stronger. My skills are getting sharper – my intuition and understanding of strategy, my understanding of my tires... I’m getting stronger and I didn’t expect that. And I didn’t know at what point I was going to plateau, but I’m realising that I’m getting better and that is a great feeling. But it doesn’t come without the hard work. There’s no coincidence that I’m driving the way I am. And, of course, we do live now in a sport where there’s such a gap between all the teams. And people try to devalue what I do because of the machine that I have, so without doubt, I would love to have everyone in the same car, with a track that enables you to really, really race. And then we’ll see... Like, [Fernando] Alonso, I beat him in my first year, straight out. I was 22 years old, a rookie, and I finished ahead of him. Even today, you know, people talk about Max [Verstappen]. Like, it’s probably never ever going to happen, but if I did have Max come into my team and I did the job I currently do and beat him, people would say, “Oh, it’s rigged.”
What about the rumours of you ever being tempted by the red paint of Ferrari?
That’s not going to happen. The Ferrari thing is not going to happen... I think. I’ve always been positive about Ferrari. I watched Michael win there. I’ve always been a Ferrari fan. I remember one of the first cars I ever bought was a Ferrari. And I think it’s a hugely iconic team and brand, particularly. I think the team has, in my period of time... There have been things I’ve seen that I don’t necessarily feel mirror my values and my approach. However, it is a team that every driver, I think, has dreamed of what it would be like to sit in the red cockpit. No disrespect to them, but when I stop I want to work with Mercedes in helping them be even better in the outside world. You know, they’ll always have beautiful cars, but how can we be a more diverse industry?
So when you stop, what are you going to do? Salsa dancing, fishing, Fifa?
Definitely not salsa dancing. And definitely not fishing. I’m vegan! I’m not going to catch fish out of the sea! There’s a lot of different things that I want to do. I would say on the fun side of things for me, I’d love to try a bit of acting. I love my music, so I’ll continue to do my music. And I want to continue to want to learn to play the piano. I really would love to learn a language. My mum is a dancer, so I may take her to go and do a dance course with her son. But then, on the business side of things, there’s not a lot of black-owned businesses in the Fortune 500, for example, and I’ve had the privilege of working with someone like Tommy Hilfiger, who’s really opened my mind to the fashion industry. And I love that industry. I really do have a dream of one day having a fashion brand that’s fully sustainable, fully ethical. I’m always going to be trying to get involved in tech, because that’s the key to the future, I think. And then, most importantly, working with organisations out there to raise awareness for important issues that I care about. There are so many things to fight for.
Lord Hain, who was a Labour cabinet minister and who vice-chairs the All Parliamentary Group On Formula One, said it was “unacceptable” that you hadn’t had a knighthood yet. Is he right?
Well, it’s the first I’ve heard about this! It’s not what I’m racing for. I’m not like, “I’ve got to win these races so I can be knighted.” My granddad served in the Second World War – I’ve got all his medals – and I was so proud to see Captain Sir Tom get his knighthood this year. I think the unsung heroes are the ones that deserve these things. If I’m one day honoured, I don’t think it’s something I’d say no to, but it’s not an issue for me right now. Like, I’m really grateful. The fact I’ve even had the opportunity to go to Buckingham Palace and I’ve got an MBE – like, wow, a kid from Stevenage, so I’m grateful for that. Look at Captain Tom, he was 100 years old before he got recognised.
The black community, obviously, are very proud of our own and sometimes I think the frustration is your level of success should have been recognised a lot earlier on. And maybe, ironically, your activism is getting that kind of attention, instead of what you’ve done on the track, which is a surreal thing to say. I actually think the Lewis Hamilton of 2020, what you’ve done off the track, is almost making as much noise as you making history by beating Schumacher’s record.
The mixed feelings that I’ve had this year... I could never have ever dreamt of having the year that we’ve had, in the sense of the sadness, the isolation, the trials and tribulations. This is going to be the one I remember the most, I think, and, you know, I still have a job to do: I’ve got to win the seventh title. And when I win that seventh title, what am I going to do with it? I’m still going to be taking a knee and using my voice on that day. But I’m near. I’m closing in on it. I’m still energised. I came back last night [after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy] and I was like, “I can’t believe I just won that race,” but the thing is, the world moves on so fast, you just keep going.

'A great cover for their first album': Harry and Meghan's romantic rebellion against royal portraiture
Jonathan Jones
The Sussexes’ baby announcement shared on Valentine’s Day is a confident image of defiance that seems to take us inside their love – granny must find it utterly baffling

Tumblr media
True style leaders ... Harry and Meghan.
The Duke of Sussex’s left foot steals the show. His knobbly toes shove themselves into the foreground, bulging out to rhyme with his wife’s baby bump. Misan Harriman, the Nigerian-born photographer and friend of Meghan who took the picture remotely from his home in Woking, has created an unbuttoned romantic pastoral that doesn’t so much rebel against royal portraiture as bring it to an end.
Producing babies has been the primary business of royalty since time immemorial. Harry and Meghan’s new child will be eighth in line to the British throne, but the picture tells us quite flamboyantly the Sussexes are not in Britain and have no desire to be. It is a confident image of defiance. A cup of California dreamin’. The garden looks semi-tropical. Harriman’s preference for black and white gives the sun-kissed lawn a lovely silvery glow that sets the couple almost in a vision of paradise. But at the same time, their intimate casualness – those toes again – is intended to show us they are anchored to the reality that matters.
It would make a great cover for their first album
It’s the reality of love. Released on Valentine’s Day, this is about their relationship as well as their baby. Meghan has her hand over her unborn child as if to tell us this will be her child, not just another Windsor. Harry’s besotted gaze into her eyes suggests he too sees this as her story. The revelation of Meghan’s miscarriage last year clearly adds to the intensity of their pleasure, relief and happiness in a new life.
Harriman seems to take us inside their love, to show them not in the eye of the public but as they feel to themselves. That’s quite an achievement in photography. The camera is by definition an exterior observing eye. It’s impressive how he has been able to turn it inward, to let us feel like we’re empathising with Meghan and Harry, directly sharing this moment with them.
He has surely been inspired by the moment we’re living in and the new intimacies it creates. Forced apart physically by the pandemic, people get together on Zoom and FaceTime and find themselves in each other’s homes on the far side of the world. This picture was taken on an iPad with Harriman directing over the internet, and it has that quality of distance obliterated.
This picture might be a happy moment politically, as well as personally. Harry angered some by making his feelings about the US election clear. For a moment, if only in this tranquil garden, the “hate” he warned against has been eclipsed and love rules supreme. It reminds me of pictures of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in bed. It would obviously make a great cover for their first album.
The Sussexes are true style leaders. They seem to be announcing a new era of loved-up togetherness. This is their folksy equivalent of Taylor Swift’s pandemic album Folklore, getting back to human basics as the modern world stalls. It seems that, like many people, they are mellowing out to folk rock as we all feel as helpless, helpless, helpless as Neil Young. Does this picture then succeed in making them into everywoman and everyman, looking forward to the birth of everybaby?
That probably lies in the eye of the beholder. But whatever your feelings, there’s no denying their feelings. The pastoral, in art, poetry or folk pop, is an escape from the social, a dream of love in an earthly paradise. It’s quite a mythic and intense idea to put in a family photo. Granny must find it utterly baffling. But Harry’s mum might have understood.

galaxy brain thought, but: did Nanase know beforehand that Shinobu is the true culprit? or at least suspect it?
Even though he only uses his abilities to read minds sparingly, wouldn’t it have been really easy for him to notice the bugs on the fatcats? or to just take a quick peek at shinobu?
and at the beginning of chapter 3, he deliberately leaves misane alone with shinobu, going for an obvious excuse like “i gotta talk to your father” despite said father currently being atrociously busy.
tl;dr: nanase, my man. boy, are you shady. I may or may not be reading too much into this due to incurable 1bitbrainrot, and also throughout the game Nanase’s BitPhone is broken, and that’s the device that allows him to process his numbers faster, so he may not have had access to his mind reading stuff at all, but like. I dunno?
even tl-er:dr-er: i may be right but also i may be overanalyzing a red herring
……it’s probably a red herring.
……………..it does leave another interesting option though. which is: bait.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, what was going on there?
Can’t Nanase also detect live signs? He’d know his neighbour died, and, after Misane talks to Shinobu, he suggest she crash in his room, instead of her own.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but the entire time, he just keeps ditching misane to do things on her own? people are dead, nanase.
Tumblr media
he keeps leaving her so she can talk to shinobu alone??
Tumblr media
and then there’s this:
Tumblr media
how is he investigating? what’s the point of going with koza to check rooms he’s already been in at this point???
i have. a suspicion. because later, during the… third? talk with shinobu, they discuss who the culprit might be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
thing is, thing is… after this conversation…. misane goes to talk with nanase. at this point, shinobu is pretty clearly suggesting nanase as the culprit. With how the scene is set up - the player walking misane to nanase, as her heart thunders in the background - i was honestly afraid misane would kill nanase in my initial playthrough.
she likely would’ve, if nanase hadn’t handled the situation as he did.
everything i’ve described above may very well have been a red herring. Nanase is in the perfect spot of suspicion; he no doubt has the ability to a) hack people into killing themselves, because he’s the lead developer of the master programm and b) leave no trace in the hotel logs, due to his aforementioned hacking skills, even without a BitPhone.
when misane shows up, he immediatly knows something’s wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he also immediatly knows what she’s thinking, which may just speak to being her bff at this point and just plain knowing her that well. The effect associated with his mind-reading also only plays later, when he uses it to see who misane spoke with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also: growth. With just this statement, Nanase dispells all suspicion the narrative built, and hits us, the players, as well as misane, over the head with “no, he’s done thinking like that”
Tumblr media
i love him. look at this
howweverrrrrrr, i have an interesting preposition to make, that’s likely just. wrong, but anyways.
Tumblr media
*insert mind-reading effect here*
Tumblr media
It appears he saved up a little bit of that number-crunching juice for this specific situation.
As we can tell from his shit excuses, leaving Misane alone was deliberate. What I’m speculating is, Nanase knew, either by recognizing the “unforgivable feeling” he himself experienced in younger years, or by means of deduction, seeing that the other culprits were filled with rage but weren’t hacked.
Thus, he may have seen Misane’s own boiling anger, and used her as bait. Not maliciously, may I say, since it did lead them to the culprit, yet it’s the only explanation i can think of as to why he’d ditch her so frequently and with such bad excuses, at that.
Therefore, he left Misane in a vulnerable state (though not without a safety net, he did reassure her as soon as he noticed Misane was affected), already suspecting the culprit used brainwashing of some sort on individuals with a thirst for justice, and waited until Misane came to him after a nice chat with the murderer, specifically saving on.. energy? to read her mind, since his BitPhone’s broken and can’t crunch the numbers for him.
It’s a bit insidious, yes, but there’s already enough parallels between Mikado and Shinobu anyways; it’s clear Nanase has completely abandoned that kind of ideology, that those who do not fit must be eliminated, and his little plot also served as the most effective way to help Misane realize her thinking is unhealthy as well.
Even without talking to Shinobu, Misane’s thoughts were on a downward spiral. He still repaid the favor and helped her up, in the end.
this concludes me replaying chapter 3 for those tasty tasty screencaps i can use in my analysis of the intro. this took like an hour to write. i haven’t done any homework today whatsoever.
stan nanase. growth, we love to see it.

August 2020 saw no soca floats sliding along West London’s Ladbroke Grove. No pink feathered wings or giant plumes of headwear. The Notting Hill Carnival was canceled, like all mass gatherings in late COVID lockdown, the streets still spare, the air still choked with grief. No curry goat or jerk pan smoke rose up into the city trees. And the music, the great churning music of the Caribbean islands, of Black Britain, of Africa and the Americas, did not thump to the foundations of the neighborhood terraces, making them tremble.
All of this would have been part of a normal summer for Edward Enninful while growing up in the area in the 1980s. His mother Grace might look out of the window of her sewing room in their house right on the Carnival route, and see some manifestation of Trinidad going by, or a reggae crew, wrapped in amazing sculptures of bikini and shiny hosiery. Edward, one of six siblings, would stay out late and take it in, all that sound and spectacle, which for decades has been the triumphant annual pinnacle of London’s cultural and racial multiplicity.
It was this world that nurtured his creativity and helped shape the vision he has brought to the pages of British Vogue since being appointed editor in chief in 2017. “I was always othered,” Enninful says on a nostalgic walk through the streets of Ladbroke Grove, a much gentrified, still bohemian part of London, where he moved with his family from Ghana at the age of 13, “you know, gay, working-class, Black. So for me it was very important with Vogue to normalize the marginalized, because if you don’t see it, you don’t think it’s normal.”
Today, Enninful is the most powerful Black man in his industry, sitting at the intersection of fashion and media, two fields that are undergoing long-overdue change and scrambling to make up for years of negligence and malpractice. Since becoming the only Black editor in history to head any of the 26 Vogue magazines—the most influential publications in the multibillion-dollar global fashion trade—he has been tipped as the successor to Anna Wintour, the iconic editor of American Vogue and artistic director for Condé Nast. The privately held company is navigating, on top of an advertising market battered by the COVID-19 pandemic, public controversies around representation both in its offices and on its pages.
Tumblr media
Wayne Tippetts—ShutterstockEnninful at London Fashion Week on Feb. 16, 2019.
Enninful’s vision for British Vogue comes at a critical moment for the international publisher. “I wanted to reflect what I saw here growing up, to show the world as this incredibly rich, cultured place. I wanted every woman to be able to find themselves in the magazine.” He chose the British model Adwoa Aboah to front his first issue, in 2017: “When others took steps, Edward took massive strides, showing the importance of our visibility and stories,” she says. Covers since have featured the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna, Judi Dench (at 85, British Vogue’s oldest cover star), Madonna and soccer player Marcus Rashford, photographed for this year’s September issue by Misan Harriman, the first Black male photographer to shoot a British Vogue cover in its 104-year history. While other publications, including American Vogue, have reduced frequency during the pandemic, British Vogue has remained financially stable and is still producing 12 thick issues in 2020.
Under Enninful, British Vogue has morphed from a white-run glossy of the bourgeois oblivious into a diverse and inclusive on-point fashion platform, shaking up the imagery, tracking the contemporary pain. Its shelf presence is different—more substance, more political—and perhaps in part because of it, the shelf as a whole looks different. No more do Black women search mainstream newsstands in vain for visions of themselves. Now we are ubiquitous in my newsagent, in my corner shop, and it really wasn’t that hard; all it took was to give a Black man some power, to give someone with a gift, a voice and a view from the margin a seat at the table.
“My Blackness has never been a hindrance to me,” Enninful says. Yet he is no stranger to the passing abuses of systemic racism. On a Wednesday in mid-July, while entering British Vogue’s London headquarters, he was racially profiled by a security guard who told him to enter via the loading bay instead. “Just because our timelines and weekends are returning to normal, we cannot let the world return to how it was,” he wrote on Twitter. This summer, in the wake of worldwide Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the killing of George Floyd, we are seeing a seismic reckoning across industries, scrutinizing who is doing what and who is not doing enough to bring about real change in equality and representation. “My problem is that there’s a lot of virtue-signaling going on,” he says. “But everyone’s listening now, and we need to take advantage of that. This is not the time for tiptoeing.”
We meet at Ladbroke Grove tube station in a late-summer noon. When anticipating an interview with the leader of a historic luxury fashion bible, it’s tempting to have inferior thoughts about your Nissan or your Clarks boot collection or your latest unlatest something, but Enninful, 48, is unassuming, arriving in a loose navy suit, pale blue shirt and shades, the only giveaway to his sartorial imperium the no socks with his brogues. He is warm and relaxed, bearing the close-shouldered tilt of the lifelong hard worker; he rises at 5 a.m. most days to meditate before work.

I-D: Nick Towers; Vogue Italia: Steven Meisel From left: a Fashion Week report by Enninful in I-D’s January 1995 issue; Naomi Campbell on Vogue Italia in July 2008.
These days he resides toward Lancaster Gate, on the posher side of Ladbroke Grove, with his long-term partner the filmmaker Alec Maxwell and their Boston terrier, Ru Enninful, who has his own Instagram account and whose daily walking was a saving grace during lockdown. But the London Underground is where Enninful’s journey into fashion began, one day on the train in a pair of ripped blue jeans, when he was spotted by stylist Simon Foxton as a potential model for i-D, the avant-garde British fashion magazine. Being only 16, a shy, sheltered kid who grew up in a Ghanaian army barracks and who was less than four years in the U.K., of course he had to ask his mother. Albeit a clothes fanatic herself, a professional seamstress and regular rifler (with Edward) through the markets of Porto-bello and Brixton for fabrics, Grace was wary of the hedonistic London style vortex, the enormity of the new land, and reluctant to release her son into its mouth. He begged. He wore her down: “I knew I couldn’t just walk away from this, that something special was going to come out of it.”
He never had the knack for modeling, he says with characteristic humility. “I was terrible at it. I hated the castings, all that objectifying. But I loved the process and the craft of creating an image.” He soon moved to the other side of the lens, assisting on shoots and assembling image concepts and narratives, a particular approach to styling that impressed i-D enough to hire him as their youngest ever fashion director at only 18, a post he held for the next 20 years. Without the courtesy designer clothes later at his fingertips, he would customize, shred, dye and bargain for the right look, using the skills he’d developed at home in the sewing room. “I realized that I could say a lot with fashion,” he says, “that it wasn’t just about clothes, but could tell a story of the times we’re in, about people’s experiences in life. And that freedom to portray the world as you saw it.”
What was innate to Enninful—this blend of skilled creativity with the perception of difference as normal, as both subject and audience—was relatively unique in an industry dominated by white, colonial notions of beauty and mainstream. Legendary Somali supermodel Iman remembers a 2014 W magazine shoot in which she, Naomi Campbell and Rihanna were cast by Enninful, the publication’s then style director, wearing Balmain, designed by Olivier Rousteing. “Until Edward appeared, no one at the mainstream fashion magazines would have cared to commission a portrait exclusively featuring three women of color, and furthermore who were all wearing clothes designed by a person of color,” she says. “He’s an editor in vocation and a reformer at heart, compelled to spur woefully needed social change.”
Tumblr media
Courtesy Jamie Hawkesworth and Condé Nast Britain Train driver Narguis Horsford, on British Vogue’s July 2020 issue.
He shows me his various old haunts and abodes, the top-floor bedsit where he used to haul bags of styling gear up the stairs, the Lisboa and O’Porto cafés of Golborne Road—or “Little Morocco”—where he’d sit for hours chewing the fat with people like makeup artist Pat McGrath, Kate Moss, Nick Kamen and photographer David Sims. Name-drops fall from his lips like insignificant diamonds—stylists, photographers, celebrities—but he navigates his domain in a manner apparently uncommon among fashion’s gatekeepers. Winfrey says of him, “I have never experienced in all my dealings with people in that world anyone who was more kind and generous of spirit. I mean, it just doesn’t happen.”
Her shoot for the August 2018 cover of British Vogue left Winfrey feeling “empress-like,” and she ascribes his understanding of Black female beauty to his being raised by a Black mother. “Edward understands that images are political, that they say who and what matters,” she adds. Enninful’s father Crosby, a major in the Ghanaian army who was part of U.N. operations in Egypt and Lebanon, had thought that his bright, studious son would eventually grow out of his fascination with clothes and become a lawyer. But three months into an English literature degree at Goldsmiths, University of London, studying Hardy, Austen and the usual classics, thinking maybe he’d be a writer, or indeed a lawyer, Enninful quit to take up the position at i-D. His father did not speak to him for around 15 years, into the next century, until Grace suffered a stroke and entered a long illness. “Now that I’m older, I realize he just wanted to protect us. He’s come to understand that I had to follow my heart and forge my own path.”
He credits his parents for his strong work ethic—“drummed into you from a very early age by Black parents, that you have to work twice as hard”—and his Ghanaian heritage for his eye for color. His approach to fashion as narrative comes from the “childish games I would play with my mother,” creating characters around the clothes, sketching them out. “I can’t just shoot clothes off the runway,” he says. “There always has to be a character, and that character has to have an inner life.” Since Grace’s death three years ago, his father has lived alone by the Grand Union Canal and is very proud of his son, particularly of the Order of the British Empire awarded to him by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016 for his services to diversity in fashion. The Queen, incidentally, is high on Enninful’s list of Vogue cover dreams.
The British Vogue Enninful inherited from former editor in chief Alexandra Shulman three years ago was starkly different from today’s rendition. During her 25 years in charge, only 12 covers out of 306 featured Black women, and she left behind an almost entirely white workforce. Now the editorial team is 25% people of color—“I needed certain lieutenants in place,” he says—and similar shufflings are being called for over at Condé Nast in New York. Enninful is reluctant to tarnish names any further, maintaining that Shulman “represented her time, I represent mine,” and declining to comment on the U.S. headquarters.
Tumblr media

Enninful’s rise is particularly meaningful to people like André Leon Talley, former editor at large of American Vogue, where Enninful also worked as a contributing editor. Talley describes the new British Vogue as “extraordinary,” and was joyous at Enninful’s appointment. “He speaks for the unsung heroes, particularly those outside the privileged white world that Vogue originally stood for. He has changed what a fashion magazine should be.”
“I’m a custodian,” Enninful says of his role, sitting in a sumptuous alcove of the club bar at Electric House. “Vogue existed before I came, and it will still exist when I leave, but I knew that I had to go in there and do what I really believed in. It’s our responsibility as storytellers or image makers to try to disrupt the status quo.” Ironically, though, he does not see himself as an activist, rather as someone who is unafraid to tackle political issues and educate others, while remaining firmly within the Vogue lens. “They said Black girls on the cover don’t sell,” he says. “People thought diversity equals down-market, but we’ve shown that it’s just good for business.” British Vogue’s digital traffic is up 51% since Enninful took over. He previously edited the 2008 Black issue of Vogue Italia, which featured only Black models and Black women and sold out in the U.S. and the U.K. in just 72 hours.
Since the incident with the security guard in July—which Enninful reveals was not isolated and had happened before (the culprit, a third-party employee, was dismissed from headquarters)—building staff have been added to the company’s diversity-and-inclusion trainings. Enninful would also like to see financial aid put in place for middle management, “because we forget sometimes that the culture of a place does not allow you to go from being a student to the top.” In 2013, he tweeted about another incident, where he was seated in the second row at a Paris couture show while his white counterparts were placed in front. “I get racially profiled all the time,” he says, going right back to his first experience of being stopped and searched as a teenager, which “petrified” him. “When I was younger, I would’ve been hurt and withdrawn, but now I will let you know that this is not O.K. People tend to think that if you’re successful it eliminates you, but it can happen any day. The difference now is that I have the platform to speak about it and point it out. The only way we can smash systemic racism is by doing it together.”

Activism, then, is intrinsic. Fashion is altruism, as much as story and craft, as much as the will to capture beauty. For Enninful, there is no limitation to the radicalism possible through his line of work. Rather than the seemingly unattainable elements of style (the £350 zirconia ring, the £2,275 coat) obscuring the moral fiber of the message, the invitation to think and see more openly, the style instead leads you to it, perhaps even inviting you to assemble something similar within the boundaries of your real, more brutal, less elevated existence. “Relatable luxury,” he calls it, and though it’s difficult to imagine exactly how one might evoke a £2,275 coat without his customizing skills and magical thinking, I am inclined to accept the notion, partly because I saw soul singer Celeste in a £1,450 dress in the September issue and think I might give it a try. Anything is possible. “I still feel like I’m at the beginning,” he says with palpable optimism. “I feel the fire of something new.”

Reach Influencer Review – A Simple Way To Monetize People’s Profile
Reach Influencer Review – Methods to reach out to influencers
With the growth of social networks and digital marketing, we have seen a lot of new concepts and professions emerging. If you spend some times on the Internet, perhaps you have heard of the phrase “Influencers”. So what are they?
Perhaps we should start with the definition of influencer marketing. This is a new form of marketing in which marketers mostly focus on people who have huge influences to the public. They will find those individuals who have profound and genuine influence and are able to orient their purchase habit. This is actually a very smart way of marketing your products.

Who should use it?
Obviously, those who have been marketing their products and services should definitely use this product. It is a modern, impressive and effective way to call more attention and drive traffic and leads to your site.
If you are looking for a new way to approach prospects, Reach Influencer is an ideal choice to start. Making use of other people’s profile to get more profits is a very clever way of running your online business.
Comparison
Reach Influencer offers a new way of doing marketing. Like other big brands, Reach Influencer uses the popularity of popular people to market user’s product which will boost traffic and leads effectively. No more struggling with creating animated videos or ad campaign, the tool introduces a new way of dealing with business.
What’s more, Victory is so thoughtful that he also prepared a lot of message templates so that you can pick one and send it to the person you want to contact with. By doing this, you can save hours straining your brain to write a decent message. Everything is automatically managed.
Victory has been working in marking for many years and he has earned six figures in gross sales revenue. With that ability, what he shows you in this package is absolutely stunning and clever.
If you spend some minutes looking at the demo video, you can see that the dashboard is made with an incredibly newbie friendly interface. Every element is put in the right order so that you can go from the top to end and get your things done. There is literally nothing confusing or complicated about the process.
Another thing I would like to mention in this Reach Influencer Review is your marketing skills. Although there is no requirement on how competent or how skilful you are, if you have experience in the field, you can deliver stunning results much faster.
User experience
Now let’s talk a little bit about my experience with ReachInfluencer. I have been familiar with this method for a while and I have tried it on my business. It’s much more effective than any other way I used to do. However, when I handled everything on my own, it became too much of a nuisance.
From finding what is trending or who have influences on social networks to contacting them, sending wordy messages to ask for collaboration, it takes me whole days. A lot of effort and time must have been put in this way.
However, this is no longer the case when I discovered ReachInfluencer. Literally, it allows me to automate everything. It saves so much time. Rather than doing everything manually, now I can use the tool and within some minutes, I can finish a whole workload of a day.
Speaking of the efficiency, after using the tool for a while, the number of traffic and leads I receive is improved to some extent. But the most dramatic change when I use ReachInfluencer is that I have a lot more free time to do some other things. That’s what I love about it.
Reach Influencer Review – Evaluation and Price
I hope this Reach Influencer Review give you a new perspective on the product. As far as I am concerned, Reach Influence has met all of my requirements of a digital product – newbie friendly – effective – affordable.
The front-end price of Reach Influence is $37. I don’t see any reason why you are still hesitating about getting this monster. This product is exclusive. Secure your slot HERE.
Some other benefits you can have when buying this monster guy is 30 days money back guarantee and some bonuses if you get it soon. Remember, there is a whole customer service team who is willing to help you out. Contact them if you need anything.
Thanks for following. Goodbye!

shinobu rlly is just mikado with better social skills tbh
okay rant time bcuz of course yall better know me by now (also featuring an extensive tangent on nanase’s growth between games)
to start out with, shinobu’s manipulation of others through conversation already bears great similarity to the hacking incidents mikado created, which prompted people to act in ways they normally wouldn’t.
there’s obvious differences though. like how with the hacking, people did things they actually would refuse to do if asked, while shinobu influenced people to take extremes they already thought about.
also, funny thoughts. if the events of 1bitHeart hadn’t left off with the best ending, nanase absolutely would’ve been one of shinobu’s victims.
taking a second to think about it, shinobu motivates people to act on that “unforgivable feeling”, which translates to somebody who is beyond redemption, who cannot be forgiven, and who thus must be killed.
sound familiar? In the bad / normal endings of 1bitHeart, it is just as shinobu says about the suicides he caused. sometimes that “unforgivable feeling” isn’t directed outwards, but in.
Nanase experienced it before, he experienced it deeply, and for years. He thought himself to be unforgivable and unlovable.
Which is probably why he, and not misane, was able to resist shinobu. Misane is just one year older than in 1bitHeart, She hasn’t actually matured all that much. She’s still the same analytical yet occasionally clumsy girl, who always does what she believes to be right in an attempt to make the world safer.
For Nanase, however, there are nine years between the games. He had time to become an adult and to move past the unforgivable feeling. He’s still affected by years of depression and self-loathing, but he’s making attempts to be better, and obviously holds himself in higher regard than his 1bitHeart self (which is still leagues below your average person, but a gigantic step up in comparison).
Even how misane is the protagonist now, and nanase fills the shoes of the sidekick shows his progression. in 1bit he was the one in over his head, dependant on the guidance of his much more mature companion.
Now, as he even says in chapter three, he wants to repay the favor.
growth, man.
back to shinobu (boy i love badly structured rants with tangents)
his motivation appears to be “justice”, similarly to misane. When he talks with her, he strenghtens her anger against the mastermind, against the one who comitted those terrible crimes.
How he influenced merue and namoto must’ve been similar, telling them that those that wronged them deserve to be scorned, and must be disposed of for their own betterment.
This “justice” also bears some similarity to mikado’s whole motivation, “world peace.” The want for everyone to be happy. And if everyone being the same, or if killing yourself or someone else is what would make everyone happy? So be it.
The ending of the game stands in complete antithesis to that, which, i speculate, is the whole point of it being so anticlimatic.
Nanase tells misane that you can’t change everything at once; you need to take things as they come, and move forward one step at a time. The mastermind might’ve gotten away, yes, but that doesn’t mean misane hasn’t made progress! She knows the mastermind’s modus operandi, typical signs of his involvement, his abilities, his personality.
The anticlimatic ending stands in direct support of what nanase says. And that’s kinda good actually even though it sets up a whole series we’ll never get and also the post-credits scene gave me whiplash.
rant over stan nanase and his personal growth. i probably didn’t compare shinobu and mikado as much as i could’ve but know mikado lives in my brain rent free
