Dazai’s relationship with Kunikida is so interesting actually, because its kind of entirely built on lies and there’s always this weird emotional distance there, but also… that doesn’t seem to be a bad thing in the context of their relationship? Like, it almost seems to be out of respect and affection on Dazai’s part, if that makes sense.

Also I think that relationship stresses the fuck out of Kunikida but he still cares about Dazai (and does find him quite impressive and almost charming in the light novels) , but it might honestly be very comforting from Dazai’s perspective. They have this consistent jokey rapport with each other that usually never actually gets too close to genuine vulnerability or intimacy. Dazai can be whoever he wants to be with Kunikida. Kunikida’s not stupid, but he is a little bit naive and gullible at times, and Dazai’s a good enough liar to pull off any facade he wants. He can be a good person with Kunikida if he wants to be.

And while I don’t think he entirely agrees with Kunikida’s ideals, I do think he respects that Kunikida is so dedicated to them. (Maybe it reminds him of Oda? Or well it’s probably more like Dazai finds people having strict moral codes novel and endearing, because he also seems fond(?) when Hirotsu, Chuuya, and Ango express basic empathy or loyalty.) I think being that close to such intense righteousness makes him feel like he himself isn’t as I guess… hated by righteousness? Even if he has to lie a bit to get there.

People always compare it to his relationship with Chuuya and say it’s lacking in comparison or that it’s better. But honestly I think they’re two equally important relationships that serve two different purposes in Dazai’s life. I’d say his relationship with Chuuya is a lot more intimate and a lot less comforting. Kind of like how you can love someone without fully liking them. But not exactly. They know just a bit too much about each other and were pitted against each other just a bit too often as teenagers for it to ever be a truly positive relationship. But there’s definitely some deep affection and understanding there, and they both hate that.

Although I would also argue that Kunikida has expressed just enough emotional vulnerability throughout their partnership for it to be kind of uncomfortable for him in how one sided it is. Like Dazai knows so much about him, but Dazai’s an enigma to him. I think that’s what Dazai likes about their relationship and what Kunikida finds annoying about it.

Omg you like SatoSugu and Soukoku too? I’ve GOTTA hear your thoughts on them

If I start talking about my relationship with these two ships I might actually end up sobbing while I write this- But basically, both Soukoku and Satosugu are really important to me because the whole dynamic of "best friends to enemies who still have feelings for each other" reminds me of something that happened to me with my former best friend. Which is, uh, not pleasant to talk about but we had a very nasty break up and I think it's a very common experience. Somebody said something once (in my post about Shuggy making more sense if they were girls) about these ships always resembling friendships between sapphics that don't know they're sapphics yet, which changed my whole view on these three ships completely because oh lord, that person was so damn right. Because it's the possessiveness of it all, you know? Like- Being close to your best friend, so much it hurts to see them with other people and so much it's frightening to think about a world without them. You have so many feelings about this person that you can't quite place and you can't put a name to, but it's more than a friendship and it's not romantic love either. And it makes more sense being a closeted sapphic because you don't accept it might probably be love until the friendship ends in a very nasty and toxic way and then you keep resenting that person forever.

I am kind of traumadumping here, lmfao, but basically I really like these three ships because they treat this dynamic in very different ways and I am a sucker for them. The angst is immaculate and I'll never get tired of them.

I like Soukoku for a lot of reasons, BSD being my favorite manga of all time and everything. Dazai meets Chuuya when he doesn't have any reason to live but keeps working for the mafia nevertheless because Chuuya is interesting enough to keep being alive. Because perhaps that's what Dazai has been looking for. And Chuuya, well- He has mixed feelings for Dazai but his loyalty is unmatched and that's both his best and worst trait (we see that constantly, poor boy). Dazai is still, after everything, his partner. They need each other, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They're basically canonically soulmates, at this point, and you don't even need to ship them to acknowledge it because it's just that obvious. Chuuya is the only one able to keep Dazai wanting to live and Dazai is quite literally the only one with the ability to stop Chuuya from losing control. They really are made for each other. It makes me go completely insane. The whole thing about Chuuya not being a human but being the most human and empathetic person of the mafia, and Dazai saying he isn't worthy of being called human but being physically one? That's just insane. And I could talk for hours about them and write a deeper analysis of their relationship, but I'd never finish this post, then.

Then, Satosugu. They make me equally insane. They were best friends. They were so damn close. And Gojo loved him so much that he couldn't stop Geto when he turned his back on him and walked away to become what he is now. It's just so heartbreaking, losing someone like that and all of a sudden. We see Geto losing himself over the years and falling into desperation and emptiness and Gojo not noticing until it's just too late to do anything. That's Gojo's weak spot. He's the most powerful sorcerer and dude can't fight his ex best friend because "there's no curse more twisted than love". That fucked me up completely, honestly. Gojo is such a complex character, growing up so quickly and with so many expectations, not being able to enjoy his teenage years either because they stole them from him like this. And Geto ending up all alone too, turning into just a vessel of vengeance. Like- Shit is too deep to explain it in just a tumblr post, but they make me go insane.

And Shuggy is basically the same thing but at least these two have the chance to make up and reunite at some point. Shuggy is the one that feels more realistic to me, honestly, because it genuinely feels only like a normal falling out between best friends (that definitely were something more) rather than this complicated poetic mix of metaphors and poems. These two were just kids when all of this happened, too, it makes me so ill. But I have a whole post talking about Shuggy too, so I don't think I need to explain why I like them.

TL;DR: These ships are definitely for the sapphics who had THAT best friend and had very strong feelings toward them but didn't know why, and years after a very nasty break up that still haunts them to this day they realized it was a bit more than just a friendship.

Hi! (Sorry this is long. I wasn’t sure how to shorten it)

I saw your most recent post involving your social experiment with your friend and I figured I can (maybe) contribute data to your social experiment!

Context: I started watching BSD somewhere around 2019 (I think I watched season 3 as it aired or it had just finished and it seemed like the anime ended). I accidentally found it, the description seemed interesting and the names looked familiar (i.e., I recognised some of them as authors right away)

So, I looked up the characters and while trying to minimise spoilers (and somehow mostly succeeded in that?) and was exposed and was exposed almost exclusively to knkdz (I didn’t realise Chuuya existed until I got to episode 9 and wasn’t aware of any other ships). It’s also worth noting that I didn’t really interact with fandoms that much back then (the most— for all the things I was a fan of/consumed— was accidentally discovering and seeing knkdz fan content. It seemed like an interesting ship)

Anyway, then I watched the show (and started the manga). The result? For me personally, I found knkdz to be the least interesting ship (romantic or queerplatonic)— don’t get me wrong/that being said, I *love* their canon relationship and whatnot

(We’ll see if that changes after I read the light novels since stuff like new manga scenes/arcs, Beast and Dazai, Chuuya, Age 15 have affected my opinions on characters, relationships and etc)

Most of the relationships I like to see when consuming content is actually platonic, with the few ships I do like being mostly queerplatonic (off the top of my head, I think the only actual romantic ship I have is Fitzgerald and his wife?), and all relationships being treated as roughly equally important

(And, if asked to list my favourite ships by order, it would have more to do with my favourite characters than actual ships lol)

Note: I’m on the romance-repulsed area/spectrum (for lack of a better word that I can think of at the moment) of AroAce so, like, that probably affects things lol

(That being said, it’s nice to see that BSD treats all relationships fairly equally and contributed me to liking the show so much!)

a response that i’ll make sure to factor in! i will say however that i have to disagree w you bc even as just friends or even going lower as just work acquaintances kunikida and dazai are written to have a lot deeper relationship than they actually let on. none of this is elaborated on in the anime or manga bc the series’s main focus is atsushi for the beginning but if you read dazai’s entrance exam you get kunikidas entire inner monologue abt dazai and it’s very interesting how quickly they latch onto each other. dazai’s reasons are more tragic than he lets on i believe, but until we get that directly from him we can only assume he gets so close to the ada and kunikida especially bc kuni reminds him of odasaku. that’s a whole tangent i can go on separately but suffice to say it’s the reason why he fell hard and followed him like a motherless duckling everywhere in the beginning, bc he saw oda’s unwavering resolve and firm ideals in that man. despite being in a conscienceless world that weighs survival against humanity, both oda and kunikida fight to ensure their personal beliefs are still held up. dazai finds that admirable in both men

But like I wholeheartedly was on the bandwagon and still am on the bandwagon that- yes while chuuya isn't hard to take aback with random small affection- dazai is less used to affection.

My contentions are simple

The sheep were very close and I wholeheartedly stand by the fact that most of them were probably each other's first kiss, the lot of them probably had cuddle piles and just stacked up next to each other or close to each other in huddles. Either to keep warm or when they're staying up late at night and end up whispering plans with each other or playing card games. Like when you're a street kid or have that close knit of people you can do that sort of stuff with, you're close. I wasn't like in a gang or anything. But I was in close knit groups of friends/general peers where touch just isn't that big a deal. Yknow before the fear of touch grew but yknow. We'd just lay on each other, jump and tug each other's hair to get attention, kissing a hand or a cheek or a forehead of a little cousin or a younger adopted sibling or that sort of thing. Like touch was definitely something he was used to with the Sheep.

Dazai is totally the opposite up to this point. The only touch he's ever had has been inherently negative in some way. Painful, emotionally damaging, to push him in some way, all of it has never just been to simply touch a person yknow?

However he is never prepared when chuuya grabs him and cuddles while watching a movie and is like fuck it sure after awhile of break ins.

Conclusion: Chuuya just grabs his hand or leans on him and if dazai did something just runs and jumps to tackle him down and sees nothing wrong with the random touch and affection and the lingering, meanwhile dazai is having trouble processing it all and is also constantly rebooting trying to figure out Chuuya's motives.

Then of course post the 4 years after dazai left they're both kind of equal on the touch scale

Chuuya hadn't gotten many people after the flags were gone and then dazai left to be so close to like that. And dazai still isn't fully use to it but is more used to sudden touches since the ADA tends not to like be overly scared of that.

i think it heavily depends on the situation itself and on the motivation/reason why chuuya feels the need to steal time against dazai’s wishes. if it’s because dazai is being unnecessarily and unfairly greedy with you, and is using his power and title as Boss of the relationship to shove chuuya in a lonely little corner while dazai soaks up all of your attention and love for himself, then yes absolutely i could see him disobeying whatever bullshit rule dazai has tried to impose on him and taking the time that is rightfully his, because he genuinely believes he deserves this (like i said in this ask, i think chuuya would be willing to push back against dazai when he feels it’s necessary/feels very strongly on the matter, but would know when and how to do this to ultimately keep himself safely within and a part of the relationship).

omg i’d like to see dazai try to punish chuuya the way he’d punish aku!!!!! chuuya only just barely submits to him, doesn’t trip all over himself and cling to every letter that slips from dazai’s mouth as if it’s fucking holy gospel the way aku does. chuuya also doesn’t desire dazai’s praise or attention the way aku does. as such, dazai’s punishments when it comes to chuuya would need to be a lot more sly and clever, more on the level of psychological warfare and emotional torture than anything physical and sexual.

hm my favorite… to have or just in general? (i’ll actually just answer for both eep)

favorite that i’d want to have would probably be Akutgawas ability, Rashomon, or or Q’s ability, Dogra Magra.

favorite that is like to see or just in general: Shibusawa’s Draconia’s Room i feel would just be so pretty, imagine standing in a room with such a beautiful and powerful aura with such simple jewels, personally i’d love to see it. the other would be Lucy’s ability, Anne of Abyssal Red, again i think i’d be very interesting to see what it’s like and the ability has a lot of depth which i love!

strongest to capture or conceal people/things: this one’s a little more tough… the abilities that can create large spaces are obviously candidates but… i’d have to go with Illuminations. as it cuts of people from the outside completely and the ability user has full control of the space and what’s inside it. yes it is bypassed because of Dazai’s ability but i’m assuming that other abilities don’t exist in these scenarios. (Light snow is a close contender but the fact that it’s just an illusion and hypothetically you could swing a sword around until you hit the user and deactivate the ability i have to choose this other one) (also Poe’s ability is nice other than the fact you have to build up a space before and the person inside is technically able to be freezes by themselves)

this has been sitting in my askbox since september and im really sorry anwsering took so long, but ive been trying to articulate how the last few chapters/last episode made me feel and im still not sure, because there have been so many bizzare choices made by both asagiri and the ppl behind the anime i still cant wrap my head around it fully (this got stupid long sorry)

starting with fukuzawa, i made a post a while back talking abt how i was assuming he was going to die/why it'd make a lot of sense, and there were really two main reasons for that; 1. he hasnt had anything interesting to offer for the story for a while and 2. his ability actively stops other important characters (mainly atsushi and kyouka) from further developement. the first thing is now gone which im pretty happy with! i love fukuzawa a lot so it's nice to see him finally have a purpose in the main story and im excited to see where it will go (also fukufuku you will always be famous to me <3333333), but the issue of his ability is still very much here. ive seen ppl theorize that all men are equal is just him lying and there is no ability but i honest to god would hate that, bc it would seem like such a shallow twist. atsushi's conflict with the tiger is central to his character so if it suddenly got revealed that a huge reason why he's even capable of using his power is just placebo "believe in yourself" bullshit i think i'd tear my own hair out. so im still thinking fukuzawa may get killed at some point, esp with the position he's been put into now and how much he seems to not want it.

and as for the "chuuya was never a vampire" fiasco, i honestly have no words, it was so unbelievably bad. ik there's been a ton of posts about how "its actually good" bc fyodor's death was caused by his inability to trust, and dazai's belief in his allies is what put him at an advantage, which is nice yeah, but it doesnt change how fucking stupid of a plan that was. if their goal is to kill fyodor, why not do it in that flooded room? fyodor escapes solely bc chuuya gets him out but if he was concious the entire time why not just leave him there? why continue to pretend? im usually not a huge fan of getting angry over plot holes when the narrative and themes are whats more important, but this is just so blantantly stupid. it feels like asagiri just wanted a plot twist for a plot twist's sake. mersault in general is so poorly constructed as an arc (dazai communicating via his heartbeat,,,, give me a break) but at least you'd hope it would end in a way that makes you excuse all of that, and then it doesn't. i think this post sums up how i feel about this than i ever could

and the fact that its december and we are STILL behind the fucking anime asagiri be so for real. it's easy to see now that the constant half chapters and short releases were a deliberate choice to have the anime catch up which i dont love, but fine, whatever. but now??? what the point of half releases? these chapters have been ready for a long time, and there's no way asagiri and the editors and whoever else is involved arent aware of how frustrated the readers have been for years now. the only explanation i can think of is that maybe the manga will have a different arc conclusion and ctheyre trying to idk, make it seem like we're following the anime closely? idk this shit is so stupid

overall this past arc or two have been bad, there are some elements that make them enjoyable still, but there is no theme consistency and overreliance on cliff hangers (that ppl still somehow buy). it feels like there are no stakes to the story, and that's really bad. maybe it's why i was hoping for fukuzawa to be killed alongside fukuchi idk, it'd finally feel like something is changing

on a brief positive note i quite enjoyed fyodors death, weird catholic freak, ofc nikolai is cradling your arm like this. i was a little suprised to see fyodor killed just yet (bc he always needed to die for the story to be able to wrap up eventually), but given the jesus quote, he may as well come back in some way tbh

(in many fics i've seen people write Dazai using "bella" for his significant other but,, i dont see it sorry.)

Having witnessed Dazai being a sweet talker, especially towards women when asking them to commit double suicide, it is a fact of he nature that this man never runs short on nicknames. And creative ones at that...

Be it a certain trait, a specific clothing item, a certain word they say or just a pun regarding their ability; dazai has a nickname for everyone in his life, he just keeps it to himself sometimes...

but when it comes to you; it's when all that creativity and flirtious nature pours out of him like a waterfall, to the point that kunikida has to be verbal to get him back on work.

and as dazai knows people so well, he makes the exact nicknames to tick them off, get on their nerves and usually end up with a hit on his head. maybe it's the knowing that you won't resort to violence, as much as kunikida or chuuya, that he likes to tail around you often, blabber nonstop and never stop starting a sentence with a nickname that makes you roll your eyes.

what begins with cheesy nicknames, often long and sometimes so ridicilous you cannot pretend you dont hear, they start to change one by one, and one day you realize that he calls you "(ma/mon) chérie". for some reason, it's this simple set of two words that gets to you and warms you up more than the previous ones combined.

Chuuya + Nickname headcanons

Despite being quite the sentimental one, chuuya isn't the best when it comes to showing his love. be it gifts or jests, he got that down but when it comes to conversing – addressing you, he is tongue tied.

it is known far and wide he has a foul mouth and he makes no hiding of that. and the insults spread around aren't reserved for dazai only. so like it or not, especially when you tease him, that is what you'll end up with.

some days, chuuya fears if you take his mean nicknames to the heart, the very idea that you might is dreadful to him. though your closeness isn't to his liking, he doesn't want to lose you, and the possibility of driving you away solely from being himself puts a great fear into his heart. it takes a lot of convincing of certain black lizard members and a good ol' scolding from elise to make him realize that you, in fact, do see to his words and know that he never means them.

and once the step is taken and in elise's eyes "what should've been done ages ago is finally done", there is no man happier on earth than chuuya. but this doesn't mean the foul mouth or the bad boy act (as you like to call it) will disappear suddenly.

chuuya prefers to keep the romantics and the acts in your private lives and once the two of you are together, honey is dripping from his mouth.

as if he is not the same man who found fifty new ways to curse dazai an hour ago, the names he call you are like out of a novel, a sacred confession or a poetry.

chuuya can never stick to a single nickname for you, he claims it's because you simply cannot be defined by one word. but maybe it's the "my love" or "my everything" that tells it all at the end of the day, lost in each other's arms

Domestic life Soukoku family Headcanons

So my friend has dazai and chuuya in their sims 4 game and they made them have a child and listen- 

domestic soukoku family is always one of my favorite things SO HERE ARE SOME GOOD OL FLUFFY HEADCANONS FOR THEM!

First things first, if this was a modern AU in which Dazai and Chuuya adopted a child, I feel like as soon as they meet that child and they adopt them, they write down that day and celebrate the day they officially became a family with that child. So like lil soukoku baby gets like two birthdays because Dazai and Chuuya find that day to be so special. 

Chuuya is definitely a very easy going parent, and although he has his moments where he can be strict and the level-headed parent, he’s actually really silly and laidback when it comes to kids. He falters to puppy dogs eyes and when his child cries, he has a hard time trying to keep his foot down.

Dazai is similar to Chuuya, he’s also a very easy going parent - but tOO MUCH. It oftentimes feels like Chuuya is raising two kids instead of one because Dazai is so wild and crazy but despite that, Chuuya knows Dazai is a good parent. He’s more capable of putting his foot down when he needs to or having to tell his child off even though he doesn’t want to.

Now, this is Dazai we’re talking about and of course, he is very protective. He’s crazy protective over his family - it sometimes gets out of control and Chuuya needs to talk to him about it - but Dazai is very protective of his family. There is nothing in this world he would not do for them. 

And while yes Dazai is crazy protective, so is Chuuya. Chuuya is very protective over his child, sometimes he’ll get scared and freak out about things and when he does Dazai needs to calm him down. You might think they both have zero chill because of how protective they are but like Chuuya was in the mafia and so was Dazai at one point, they know how the world can operate, so they are always thinking of the what ifs so that makes them worry a lot more than they should.

Y e s. Dazai does get jealous of his own child sometimes when Chuuya is giving them a lot of attention - i mean c’mon. Dazai is a big baby himself, he NEEDS attention and he has gotten really jealous before and he lets Chuuya know it (and when he does Chuuya grounds him, yes, i mean he sends him into time out, he ain’t afraid to do that.) 

Dazai actually is the first one to wake up in the household, so he prepares breakfast for both his husband and his child. On weekends, Chuuya gets to sleep in, so he wakes up their child and treats it as if they are both being sneaky which makes their child act very giddy and excited. Dazai will let their child have things Chuuya is usually very careful of, like coffee and sugary things during breakfast. Dazai also sometimes wakes up their child a little bit earlier so they can help him make breakfast to give to Chuuya in bed. 

Chuuya sings their child to sleep whenever they are too scared or are unable to fall asleep by themselves. So he will sing to them and Dazai will be in there with them, kind of snuggling the both of them. Whenever their child needs them, it’s always a group effort type of thing because they want their child to know even through the smallest of gestures, they are a family and both of them will always be there for them.

Sometimes though, their child just can’t fall asleep. When that happens, they’ll get up in the middle of the night and sneak into their parents bed. Sometimes, the child wakes up when Dazai or Chuuya is already awake. When that happens, if it’s Dazai, Dazai will let them sit with him and watch TV for a few minutes. The child usually falls asleep eventually if they just sit with Dazai for a while. If it’s Chuuya who's awake, he makes the child some milk and they sit down on the couch and Chuuya quietly reads a book to them and eventually, they fall asleep that way.

Dazai buys their child toys all the freaking time. He comes home from work with a new toy every day and it makes Chuuya so mad every time. XD It’s not like Chuuya doesn’t want their child to have a lot of toys, it’s just tHEY DON’T NEED SO MANY - THEIR ROOM CANT HOLD ALL OF THEM.

Dazai and Chuuya try very hard to raise their child to be a good person. They want them to know that everyone deserves love and everyone is equal and beautiful in their own ways. They try to teach their child early on that things like gender and attraction are concepts that are different for everyone, so if their child comes to realize that they love someone of the same sex, or they like people off of their personalities not genders, or they don’t feel like the gender that they are - they make sure that they know that that’s okay. Everyone is valid and no matter who their child grows up to be, they will always love them.

The words reaching his ears were muffled and distant, like he was submerged in deep, deep water. “Why are you telling me this, boss?” Chuuya asked, and his own voice sounded equally distant. Emotionless.

“It seems only fair,” Mori’s voice said, with a note of amusement that cut through Chuuya’s mental fog like a knife. Amusement. “After all, Dazai-kun is your partner. I thought I should inform you that he may soon be a traitor.”

Somewhere, beneath all of his swirling thoughts and rising fury, Chuuya found he felt betrayed. Because Mori knew that this wasn’t his strong suit, knew that Chuuya had always struggled to make the merciless but necessary decisions to run an organization like the Port Mafia. That was why he followed Mori without question. He didn’t need to know these things, to know the darkest sacrifices that their progress was built upon.

And he didn’t understand why, after all these years of leading him, Mori would choose to impress this knowledge on him now. That Mori had done it just to warn him was unthinkable; the boss rarely, if ever, informed anyone of his plans.

Chuuya had his own strengths, but he wasn’t built for the mind games that the likes of Dazai and Mori took part in.

Which meant that his best bet was not to play at all.

“I don’t like it,” Chuuya said, bluntly, truthfully. “There must be a way to get the special ability permit without sacrificing our own men.”

Mori, bizarrely, relaxed at this, and his smile eased a little on his face as he continued to watch Chuuya. “I do find your straightforward approach refreshing on occasion, Chuuya-kun,” he said, and if Chuuya didn’t know any better, he could almost imagine Mori sounded friendly. “Yes, there are many methods that would not involve Dazai-kun or Oda Sakunosuke. However, I believe in making the most of given opportunities, and Dazai’s loyalty has been wavering. If he becomes more loyal to this friend of his than to the organization, he is of no use to me. So this is not just an opportunity to earn the special ability permit, you see. I plan to use it as a test, to determine where Dazai’s loyalties lie.”

Chuuya kept very still as this sunk in. So that’s what Mori’s play was. It wasn’t just a test for Dazai; he was using the situation to test Chuuya’s loyalty as well.

“I understand,” he said, and his voice came out steadier than he expected. “Do you wish me to take part in this affair?”

Mori blinked. It seemed that somehow, Chuuya had surprised him. Whichever part of his response had caught him off guard, Chuuya was too on edge to care.

“No,” Mori said at last, eyes narrowing. “All you have to do is wait. I trust you understand that Dazai cannot know anything about this conversation.”

Of course, Chuuya thought bitterly. That was the test. To know, and just let it happen. “Of course,” he said dispassionately, bowing with his hat still clutched to his chest. Clinging to the symbol of his loyalty to the Port Mafia like a lifeline. “When shall it begin?”

“Oh, about one month,” Mori said, glancing out of the vast window overlooking the city. “It all depends on when our friends from overseas arrive to set the plan in motion.”

That was vague. Fair enough. Logically, Chuuya didn’t need to know the details if he wasn’t directly involved in the plot.

You are involved now, his own voice whispered in his head, sharp and furious. Whatever happens, whether you act or not, the end result will be on your conscience.

“In the event that Dazai betrays us, I will be prepared,” Chuuya promised. Though, can you really call it a betrayal if we’re going to do this to him? “Was there anything else, boss?”

“No, that will be all,” Mori said, waving his hand in an elegant dismissal. “I hope you rest well on your day off, Chuuya-kun. You deserve it, after all your hard work.”

Bastard, Chuuya thought viciously. Mori knew perfectly well Chuuya wasn’t going to be relaxing, not with this hanging over his head like an ax waiting to fall.

Chuuya crushed down his instinct to lash out with some difficulty, and left the room with measured steps.

He was silent in the elevator ride down to the base floor, and he remained quiet and controlled on his ride home, letting the roar of his motorcycle beneath him fill the void swirling in his own mind. He couldn’t let himself think, not yet, so he kept a mental lid firmly clamped down on the wounded thing writhing in his chest.

It wasn’t until he was back in his apartment, door shut carefully behind him, that he let the lid loose.

All at once, the full weight of that conversation, the magnitude of what had been pushed onto his shoulders crashed down on him. The desperate numbness that had gripped him while facing Mori fled away, opening the floodgates to horrible, twisting emotions that threatened to engulf him.

“Fuck,” Chuuya snarled, and he slammed his fist into the wall of his entryway, wild and uncontrolled. It smashed straight through the drywall, and he stood there breathing heavily as the dust fell from the jagged hole around his glove.

"Thief/Detective AU" excerpt:

A file dropped onto Dazai’s face, startling him awake. He blinked, not bothering to move his arms from behind his head or take his feet off the desk, and let the case file slip down to his chest, the papers inside coming loose.

He must have been more tired from that last case than he thought, even boring as it was. It looked like he had slept through a good portion of the afternoon. The sinking sun shining in through his office window had turned golden, and the light transformed the small, rather dingy space into something glowing and beautiful.

Dazai squinted down at the name of the file on his chest. “The Sheep Thief?” he read off, and raised an eyebrow up at Kunikida, who was standing over him looking unimpressed.

“He always wears a mask fashioned like a ram’s head,” Kunikida said tersely. “You were complaining about being bored, weren’t you? So he’s your problem now. He’s managed to stump our regular operatives for months.”

Reluctantly, feeling the welcoming grasp of his nap slipping away with every moment, Dazai picked up the file and began to flip through it, leaning back in his chair until he was on the brink of tipping over. He heaved an exaggerated yawn at the contents. “Just thievery? Boring. He hasn’t even killed anyone?”

Kunikida’s nostrils flared, and he visibly reigned himself back from snapping. “Murder would not be preferable, you insufferable—look, just figure out how he’s committing these thefts, and work out a way to catch him. Ranpo is busy, or Fukuzawa would have assigned him to it instead. As much as I hate to admit it, you’re our next best detective when you’re actually doing your job.”

“Fine, fine, I’ll do it, never fear Kunikida-kun,” Dazai said, flapping his hand lazily as he continued to scan the documents. His eyes caught on one detail and narrowed. “My my, he’s been in Yokohama for five months? It’s taken an awful long time to prioritize this case, hasn’t it?”

“He isn’t seen as much of a threat, given that he’s never harmed anyone in his robberies,” Kunikida explained, relaxing a bit now that Dazai appeared to be focused on the case. “But he is becoming a nuisance, if nothing else. He keeps sending letters to his targets beforehand, and even with advance warning, no one has been able to stop him. He appears to be gifted—people say it looks like he can walk on air. He has also pinned people to the ground with an unseen force, and knocked holes in walls, among other unnatural feats. It’s been suggested he may be telekinetic.”

Dazai hummed. Whatever gift the thief had, it would be useless against him. Still, it added a layer of intrigue. “It looks like he’s been getting bolder with time,” he observed, tracking the details across the pages. “More and more expensive items?”

“Yes, he’s starting to inconvenience the rich and powerful of Yokohama,” Kunikida sighed, nose wrinkling in distaste. “So the Agency has been put under pressure to bring him in. As though justice can be bought.”

“I mean, in many ways it can, Kunikida-kun,” Dazai pointed out in his most irritating tone of false sympathy. “After all, you are prioritizing the case now, aren’t you?”

Kunikida turned away from the desk, stalking towards the door. “Even if that’s how it is,” he said, “it shouldn’t be. It goes against the ideals we should all strive for.”

“Yeah! Fight the system, Kunikida-kun!” Dazai called after him. “I’ll be cheering you on!”

Kunikida sent him a withering look and swept out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

I've been receiving multiple reqs for soukoku fics, so here I am, compiling them all into this post.. I love them both so much.. anyways, here u go!

Early Reunion

"You bastard! Did you really think I would go through with your plan?! I am an ally of the Mafia. Unlike you, I'm actually loyal!"

Chuuya shouted at the brunette.

Dazai stood a few feet away from him, towering over Chuuya's petite form.

Dazai wanted nothing more than to hug Chuuya, breathe in his perfume, and kiss him. But he knew that there was a chance that they were being watched. Chuuya was out of sight, hidden behind the large curtains of the makeshift apartment Dazai was living in. Meanwhile, Dazai was facing the open half of the window.

Chuuya couldn't handle Dazai's abrupt leave, and had decided to hunt him down. He couldn't let his lover go away from him, especially not without a proper explanation and goodbye. After three months of secretly attempting to track his boyfriend, he had found him in this house, situated in a remote location within Yokohama. Dazai had some guts to stay back in this city.

But Chuuya had a feeling that his leave was orchestrated by his boss, and that Mori wouldn't go after Dazai. This is why Chuuya hadn't told his boss about his little operation.

"I told you already, I didn't leave because I wanted to go. I left because of boss' cowardly nature, and the aftermath of his pathetic attempt to get me out."

Dazai's eyes held flames as he spoke. He was reliving those memories.

"He killed Odasaku, Chuuya. I know that you probably didn't meet him a lot, but he was a good man. He was someone who deserved a good life. I shall avenge his death."

Chuuya gasped.

"You aren't planning on going against the Mafia, are you?"

Dazai smirked, and shrugged.

"Who knows. Maybe I am."

Chuuya balled his fists.

"That's practically suicide, idiot!"

Dazai turned on his heels, glaring down at Chuuya.

"And why do you care? Are you actually worried about me?"

He mocked.

"So what if I am?!"

Chuuya's voice cracked as he spoke. He looked down in shame. He was never one to express concern or emotion during their relationship. As loving and warm Dazai was, Chuuya was equally cold and distant. It's not that he didn't care about Dazai, no. He did care. It could be seen during battles. He would be the most concerned one when Dazai got hurt during their escapades. He just couldn't express his feelings properly to Dazai. Dazai knew this, and hence, loved him.

"Chuuya..."

Dazai pulled the curtain closed, blocking the house from the surveillance of any potential spies.

He walked over to the ginger, pulling him into a hug.

"I love you, Chuuya. But I need you to pretend that you haven't seen me. I need you to pretend to hate me, despise me for leaving."

Chuuya sniffed. His face was hidden in Dazai's chest.

"I don't need to pretend to hate you."

He mumbled, voice muffled by the brunette's chest, causing Dazai to giggle.

"Sure, sure."

Chuuya pulled Dazai closer.

"God, I hate you."

Dazai pecked his hat.

"Good, keep it up! You're doing great at 'pretend-hating' me!"

They both giggled.

"I need you to go through this plan, Chuuya. Please. If they find out that you found me, and came here alone, they'll think that you're a traitor. They'll torture you. Please. Just go along with my plan."

Chuuya nodded and pulled away, gazing into Dazai's eyes.

"Why did you leave without telling me?"

Chuuya asked, his voice small; his eyes held hurt and pain.

Dazai smiled, caressing Chuuya's cheek with his thumb.

"If I would have told you, would you have let me go?"

Chuuya frowned at his words, and looked away.

"Hey, Chuu, I've got something for you."

Chuuya looked back at him, confused.

"Something for me? What is it? Like a gift?"

Dazai nodded and beckoned him to come closer.

Chuuya listend to him, leaning forward.

Dazai crashed his lips onto the shorter male. They both shared their first kiss in months.

Parting, Chuuya tried to regain normal breathing.

"I was expecting something like a wine bottle, but you're so broke."

Dazai grinned.

"But you like this more than wine, don't you?"

"Yeah, you idiot. You intoxicate me. And nothing can do that, but you."

Wedding Aesthetics: Chuuya

A/N: Finally got around to writing another one of these! Chuuya's wedding is going to pull out all the stops! This man is going to make sure his S/O and himself feel like goddamn celebrities on their wedding day. Chuuya is picking red and gold for his wedding colors. Red is a color of passion and love and wine. Gold is opulence and luxury, and he is going to make sure his S/O feels like a million bucks every single day. He would go with traditional wedding vows, but his eyes would be basically piercing into his S/O's soul as he said them, a passionate fire in them that is hard to miss. His S/O would probably burn themselves trying to match his desire.

If his S/O is fem: Chuuya is trying to show off his S/O on their wedding day. He wants everyone to know how sexy they are and that they are HIS. He would want a fem S/O in something sexy, form fitting and it is probably ridiculously expensive. She would be stunning and he wants her to feel absolutely confident in herself. Since he wants it form fitting, it would either be a fit and flare or mermaid style dress. Gold or pearl beaded details mixed with lace draw all the eyes to her. Chuuya is a passionate man and I think he would absolutely love a plunging neckline on his S/O, but he is also a jealous man and his S/O probably kept that detail of the dress a secret until the big day. His face is scarlet and matches his hair when he first sees her at the alter.

If his S/O is masc: Chuuya would like his S/O in gold and white so that he, himself, can wear red. His S/O tux will be well-tailored to their body with gold accents for them to look like the pair they are. Again, he wants sexy, confident and luxurious. Visually he likes small details added to the tux so his eyes can explore around his husband's body; gold buttons, intricate cufflinks, pocket detailing. He knows how attractive his husband is and so will everyone else.

Chuuya's Clothes: We all know Chuuya has style and his wedding day is no exception. He'll have his hat off for the ceremony, but it is coming right back for the reception. Chuuya will be in red. It's a color he knows he looks good in and that will play up his cerulean eyes. He'll want something tapered and fitted, which helps him look taller. He'd go with a deep maroon or burgundy shade of red, so that he doesn't stand out too much, but he wants to be as equally impressive as his S/O. He would make sure certain details are gold to match his S/O, like his tie, buttons and lapel chain. He also went to get mani-pedi with his S/O the day before the wedding and got both of their hair professionally done for the occasion. They will look like the power couple that they are.

Bouquet/Boutonniere: Chuuya is going for passion, romance, and red. What would be better than roses for that? I also think roses are something that Chuuya would have been giving his S/O for a long time, so it would also be a staple to their relationship. He and his S/O might have even saved some of the dried roses from throughout their relationship and used them as the flower petals for the walkway. He wants his S/O's bouquet to have a tone of volume and he loves the dramatic effect a cascading bouquet gives. The boutonnieres would have matching gold accents in keeping with their theme and if his S/O is masc, they would have more roses on their boutonniere than on Chuuya's.

The Rings: If anyone can pick out a red and gold ring that still looks stylish, it's Chuuya. He picked out an expensive ring that compliments his style as well as his S/O. He likes the designs that loop around each other. It reminds him of how he and his S/O hold each other when their at their worst and even after his hot temper gets the better of him, they always find their way back to each other. He is grateful for how his S/O makes him feel like he belongs.

The Venue: Chuuya wants his S/O to have an amazing view on their wedding. He would love to have something overlooking the see, making them feel like they are on top of the world. I also think he would like the big windows and the idea that onlookers could marvel at his S/O but they're separated so they couldn't come and interrupt their day. It's doubtful that any onlooker would ever try though, since the mafia will be there, especially with Mori himself in attendance. Everyone who is supposed to be there, will be well-protected. I think Chuuya would like a high-end venue, but he would definitely read all the reviews beforehand to make sure that everything would be as he expected. Honestly, only the best for his S/O.

The Decorations: Dramatic and Romantic. That's the vibe Chuuya wants for his wedding day. Rose petals will be scattered all over. There WILL be red wine fountains and dark chocolate fountains at the reception. And not just any red wine fountain. He is having it custom made to be similar to the free wine fountain in Italy. He wants the guests to have the most memorable experience. No other wedding will compare to his S/O wedding. I think he would like dim lighting but with lots of candlelight at each table, illuminating his S/O face in a warm golden glow.

The Wedding Cake: What Chuuya lacks in height he makes up for in cake. He will get an extremely tall cake with a lot of layers. He can't have the other decorations overshadowing it, so it will be placed in a central area where everyone can see him and his S/O during the cake cutting. He will go with whatever flavor is his S/O's favorite since he cares more about them having the time of their life than about his own tastes. He will make sure that the cake is cleanly decorated and not too gaudy. Again, he wants roses to be everywhere possible, so they will show up on the cake too.

After the Wedding: Chuuya is riding off with his S/O the back of his motorcycle to grab their bags and head to the airport. Tachihara wanted to attach wine bottles to the back of Chuuya's bike, but was stopped by Kouyou, who instead tied beautiful gold and red ribbons along the handles and a few other places. Chuuya didn't tell his S/O where they would be headed, opting to keep it a surprise, but they are headed to the French Riviera to have a week full of romance and each other. Chuuya also brought along their handheld games for the days when his S/O felt like staying in and just playing against him.
