A/N: This is written for the fictional depiction from the show - no disrespect to the real veterans! I feel like I don't have as many fics for Luz as I do for Joe, so I decided to go with him. Thanks for the request, Anon, and I hope you like this! 💕🕊️ Warnings: mentions of war

The airfield is buzzing with energy, like a livewire. Uniformed men dart around in every direction, trying to find all their supplies, trying to get in line for a mohawk, trying to get the grease smeared on their face just right. And trying to find their friends to say goodbyes that hopefully won’t be goodbyes – merely see you later-s or good luck-s.

There seems to be an endless list of things to do, and at the same time, nothing you can do but watch and wait. Standing with your fellow nurses off to the side in front of the tents, you observe the scene around you, trying hard not to think about how some of these men that you’ve gotten to know will not be coming back from this jump. Instead, you keep your eyes focused on the sky.

It’s brilliant, as the British men walking around would say. Warm sunlight lights the area, spilling golden paint over the scene, giving it an angelic look. Even the palest and most nervous of the men regain some of their natural color standing in it, coming back to life. Artists will paint this someday, making them all look strong and shining, like paintings of the Greeks and Trojans preparing for war. Hopefully the artists will get the lighting right.

“Everything ready to go?” Sarah, one of the upper echelon of the nurses, asks for the hundredth time, just to give herself and everyone else something to do. When all of you nod in response, she pushes a sigh through her nose. “Well, nothing to do but wait then.”

You wring your hands as you watch the men. Men with whole lives ahead of them. Men with families back home worrying about them. Men with girlfriends . . .

As if on cue, one of the paratroopers approaches then. He strides forward purposefully, and even beneath all the paint on his face and his mused-up hair, you would recognize him anywhere – especially when he gets close enough to flash you a smile.

“Oh!” One of the other nurses pats your shoulder. The gesture says it all: there’s excitement and jealousy that your beau has sought you out before the Big Jump, but also sympathy because of the risk . . .

The rest of the nurses are probably expecting a show. The last thing you want is for these next few minutes to be a spectacle, though, something that they can replay in their minds whenever they need a bit of drama, or something they can claim as their own years down the road when they need a good story to tell. No, this belongs to you. And to George.

And to no one else, you decide as you step forward to meet him. Gently, you ghost your hand over his elbow, steering him away from the gaggle of nurses, back behind the tents, to a more private area. It’s not like you expect something to happen – there’s no time for anything that anyone would love to gossip about – but if you can be selfish this once, claiming a few moments for yourself, then now is the perfect time.

Once the two of you are away from prying eyes, George takes your hands in his. He holds them, and you squeeze his in turn. You stare at your joined hands, neither speaking; there’s too much to be said, with everything that’s about to happen. It is strange, though, to see George at a loss for words. Who would have thought it possible?

Finally, George shakes his head. “Can’t believe it’s finally here. The Big Jump.”

“I can’t believe we’re getting split up,” you say. “Two years. We’ve seen each other almost every day since Toccoa . . .”

A cruel twist of fate, surely. It had been easy to imagine that you would be one of the nurses chosen to travel to France and establish an aid station. But instead, you’ll be here, in England, waiting.

George runs one of his thumbs along the side of your finger. “Gives me all the excuse I need to get the job done and get out of there.”

You’re long past the point of feeling embarrassed whenever you realize how much George likes you, and how much you like him in return. Still, your heart flutters inside your chest like a butterfly beating its wings against a glass jar; it could soar to new heights if you would let it.

Now seems like the perfect time. You hate slipping one of your hands out of George’s, but you use it to reach into the pocket of your apron and take hold of a small piece of paper. Then you press it into George’s free hand.

“Here,” you say, pressing your token of affection into his hand. “To remember me by.”

The picture had come in a letter from home a few weeks before. It’s the small photograph that had been taken on the day of your graduation from high school. A few years old now, it still looks like you, nevertheless.

George smiles down at it. With care, he stows it away in his jacket pocket, right over his heart. He pats it. “That way you can make the jump with me,” he explains.

Before either of you can say another word, that fateful call echoes across the airfield – the men are being told to get ready to board the planes.

No! That can’t be right! There has to be more time. You have so many things to say, you just need a little more time to figure out how to word them –

“Hey.” George takes your chin in his hands, bringing you to focus on him. “I’ll see you soon, okay?” Beneath his face paint, his eyes look determined. Your own feel wide as saucers.

“Okay,” you agree. Not caring about the grease coating his face, you surge forward and kiss him. For just a moment, the rest of the world falls away. Away from prying eyes, you try to convey everything you want to say in this one kiss: how much he means to you, how you hope he’ll make it back . . . With the sudden rush of activity on the airfield, kissing George is like standing, unbothered, in the eye of a hurricane, safe from the storm.

The kiss breaks and the storm sweeps the two of you up in it. You’ve got to go, both of you. There are duties to be performed. Duties that the outcome of history, the fate of the world, depend upon.

“I love you,” you whisper. It’s only the second time you’ve admitted it.

“I love you, too,” he whispers back. “Will you wait for me?”

“Of course.”

He kisses your hand then, like a gentleman in a novel, as he departs. A smile flashes from beneath his face paint, and then he’s walking away, to the rest of his company, to the planes, to his fate. But every few feet, he glances over his shoulder at you.

There’s probably something that you should be doing. But with all the preparation that you and the other nurses took part in this morning, you doubt there’s anything to keep you distracted. Collecting yourself, you break away from your spot and begin walking back to the tent. As you walk, over all the commotion, you hear a familiar voice that hasn’t quite faded into the distance yet yell, “Hi-ho, Silver!” followed by other men laughing, cheering, and returning the call.

You smile despite yourself. If George is still joking, then everything is going to be okay.

One time you painted her, king, and Luz.

She pretended to not care but you saw how she looked at it.

She notices how when you paint you have a focused expression.

“Get anymore focused and the face might stick”. She would laugh while saying that.

Once you painted a picture of you and her, it’s in her room right above the nest.

Darius

He likes how your so into painting just like how he is with sewing.

Once you painted him and captioned it as, “the most beautiful man in the boiling isles”.

He posted it on penstagram, he also posted a photo of you beside him with the painting.

He put the caption, “alador got nothing now I was just called the most beautiful man”.

But he does love the painting, it’s in his living room.

Your paints are always stocked up.

He notices your almost out of canves’s, he went to grab some.

You painted him and hunter once, he showed hunter, hunter cried.

Honestly, Season 3 really does feel like the entire thing is fanservice

Thanks to Them was obviously the Lunter episode where they pretty much confirm Luz is the "Evelyn" to Hunter's "Caleb". Huntlow is non existent in this episode, which makes no fucking sense given what happens in the next one. They legit just wanted this episode to be Lunter propaganda from beginning to end. And they write TTT in a way where Hunter can be seen as a homewrecker from Amity's POV. Which will never NOT be hilarious to me, regardless if this was intentional or not. We get Flapjack letting Luz use him. We get Luz telling Hunter to basically come back to her while she's straight up hugging him. Luz is also the only one having trouble fighting Hunter while everyone else is wailing on him [Willow is once again painted in a bad light]. Philip name drops Evelyn and Caleb while speaking to Luz and Hunter specifically. Flapjack also flies to Luz when hes on his death bed and not Willow. Hunter's words are what finally get Luz to stop beating herself up over helping Philip and not Luzs literal girlfriend, who stands awkwardly in the background while Hunter gives his speech to Luz.

Then FTF is the Huntlow episode. Hunter acts OOC by not being concerned over Luz taking awhile to come out of the portal, which makes no sense since he literally told her at the end of the last episode to help him fight back against Philip. Its also OOC for Hunter not to be concerned for Luz when she made it pretty clear he was part of her found family with the Hexside gang. It's also weird for Hunter not to be concerned for a person he was literally prepared to die for in the previous episode AND for a person he clearly loves and puts alot of trust in. Luz also acts OOC by not asking Hunter if he's okay after literally dying and coming back to life before her eyes. Luz is also still feeling guilty over helping Philip despite everyone not giving a shit in TTT. The reason why Hunter and Luz do not talk even though they really should is because this is the Huntlow episode. Hunter needs to have A Moment with Willow, so Luz and Hunter need to act like they're complete strangers despite Everything That Happened in the previous episode.

Hunter gets a forced moment with Willow even though literally any other character, including Amity, would have been a better option to comfort Willow. And for some reason Hunter has to comfort Willow despite the latter showing him a picture of his dead friend. Again, This is the Huntlow episode, so they need to come up with a reason for Hunter and Willow to have a moment even if it paints Willow in a bad light. Speaking of painting Willow in a bad light, they made Willow look extremely shallow for only showing interest in Hunter after he develops an internal magic source. Going back to TTT: there is literally no reason for them not to make Huntlow canon in this episode. They could have done it in the montage or put a photo of them as a couple in Willow's photobook. And they could have given all of Luz's scenes with Hunter to Willow but they dont. Willow also shows no romantic interest in Hunter during TTT. So Willow only showing interest in Hunter AFTER he develops an internal magic source makes Willow look really, really bad. Especially once you factor in that Hunter's powers come from Flapjack - who had to die in order for Hunter to receive his magic.

Flapjack literally died for a forced Huntlow moment, maybe you can forgive this sin but I never will.

As for Watching and Dreaming... so this episode was the most boring one out of all three of them for me. My eyes literally glazed over up until I saw Luz and Hunter in the timeskip part of the episode. But Amity somehow having autonomy while she's still a doll is Lumity fanservice, because Amity needed to remove the doll spell so she could kiss Luz later. First of all, Amity shouldnt be able to move as a doll. None of the other characters can move as dolls but she can for some reason. Not only can she move, she also somehow knew a light glyph would free herself and everyone else from the doll spell. I guess she was able to read the script while in doll form. This bit of writing also makes King, Eda and Lilith look like complete idiots for not using the light glyph to free people from the doll magic.

Glowing Eyes Masterpost

Recently I’ve been noting down when glowing eyes show up in the show and what they mean, trying to see if there was a pattern. I found about fifteen different examples of a character’s eyes glowing:

Each of these fall into one of three categories. From top to bottom:

magic is being used to communicate or transfer information mentally

someone is being controlled/possessed

someone is using a mental link to directly command magic

The common thread:

Glowing eyes means there is a mental link being formed using magic.

For the first category, the mental link was used to communicate, or it was used to transfer information, like seeing the future. In the second category, the mental link is how the control happens, letting someone other than the body’s owner take over. In the third category, the mental link does the job of glyphs or magic circles; telling the magic what to do.

Under the cut, I go through each of the examples and explain my thought process. It’s a bit long though, hence the summary up here.

First of all is communication. When the Bat Queen communicates with other palismen, their eyes light up. When Barcus is reading someone’s fortune, his eyes glow purple. When the coven heads are shown a vision of the day of unity, eye glow. When Grom reads a person’s fears, their eyes light up. This happens again when Gus’ magic manipulates the coven head’s memories. When the titan trappers complete their ritual and make a connection between King and the collector, King’s eyes light up.

All of these have some sort of exchange of information happening magically. For King and the Bat queen, it’s presumably goes two ways: a mental link that lets both parties communicate. For Barcus and the coven heads, it’s one-way; knowledge of the future coming in. And for Amity and Graye, it’s an outside force examining their minds- -or their memories--for weak points.

So. When magic creates a connection to someone’s mind to transfer information, someone’s eyes glow.

The next category: control. Both possession and losing control.

When Gus, Willow, and Luz animate Hooty for the midnight conjuring, his eyes glow. Willow and Gus’ eyes glow when they lose control of their magic. As the owl beast takes control of Eda, her eyes fill with black. (It’s debatable whether that counts as a glow, but it does fit with the rest.) The coven seals, when activated, seal away someone’s magic, and their eyes light up. When the palismen take control of Philip’s mind, his eyes glow, as we’ve seen in one of the paintings in Hollow mind.

All of these examples have someone lose control of either their body or their magic. For Eda, Philip, and Hooty, it’s because someone else is taking over their mind and making them do something. You could also say the same is happening with the coven seal: either Belos or the Collector is taking control of someone’s body through the seal, making it so they can’t use their magic. Then there’s Willow and Gus. They lose control of their magic, and we don’t know why.

If we specifically look at Gus though, it almost seems like his illusions have a mind of their own. We often see them disobey him, and when his eyes glow, he doesn’t have any control of them at all. They also do something similar to Grom, drawing on his most painful memories to hurt him. I don’t think it would be right to say his illusions have sentience, though. Instead, I think the person controlling them is a deeper part of Gus: the part of him that holds all of his insecurities. Inner Gus, you could say. The part of him that feels everything, even the parts he doesn’t let show.

And if the inner self is the one controlling the magic in those glowing eye trances, that fits for Willow as well! Normally, she stays in control and takes whatever insults Amity throws at her. But when Inner Willow takes control of her magic, she lashes out with the frustration we so clearly saw in that scene.

So then the second category of glowing eyes is control: when someone controls a body or its magic, bypassing the person who would usually control it, that person’s eyes glow.

When we compare that to the first category, communication, it makes complete sense that they have a similar effect. Like we see in Hooty’s Moving Hassle, where Luz and co. are shouting orders for Hooty to do, control requires communication. When we see someone being controlled, it’s because something or someone else is linking to that mind or body and telling it what to do. It’s a mental link through magic, just like communication. The main difference is that it takes that link one step further, taking control instead of just communicating.

That brings us to the final category: power.

When Willow and Gus’s eyes glow, they have more power. When Belos absorbs palisman juice, their magic power, his eyes glow. When palismen are casting magic or flying, their eyes glow.

Let’s start with the palismen. They’re wooden carved animals and, as we’ve seen, they’re filled with liquid magic. When they pull on that magic to fly or cast spells, their eyes glow. From there, it makes sense that Belos’ eyes glow when he absorbs their bile. Their eyes glow when they use their power, so his eyes glow when he absorbs it. But what about Gus and Willow? I listed them under the control category, but I also think they fit here. The reason for that ties back to why the palismen eyes glow as well.

You see, all magic comes from the titan’s corpse. Lilith explains in Escaping Expulsion that “glyphs command the magic around them, like words.” Therefore, I think that when palismen’s eyes glow, it’s because they’re commanding the magic around them. It’s a mental link, like the control or communication categories, except it isn’t with a person, it’s with magic.

That’s why Willow and Gus’ eyes glow when they’re going into trances! They’re skipping spell circles entirely, and using a mental link with the magic around them to cast spells!

In conclusion:

Glowing eyes aren’t a random effect. They symbolize there’s a mental link being formed, to transfer information, to control someone, or to command magic without a circle.

Okay so!! For my friends(and my bf), I enjoy including their own inserts in my own story. For toh, Laika is part of a small rebellion group called "Visions and Variety," named after Hexside's old art club that she used to run. (Sidenote: it's why they all have black chokers, it's like their group thing)

Here's the two most important members + their palismen! (Click for better quality)

They're the s/is of my brother @loogiballoogi (Milo they/he) and my boyfriend @swapthewoz (Axel he/they). They ship with Eda(romo) and Lilith(QP) respectively!

Rambles about them and their palismen under the cut! Be warned about length haha

Milo does a mix of bard and plant magic, and is considered by most as a protector to any and all palismen. It's how they got their scars, which they're proud of and show them off often. Protecting palismen is actually what got him his own, Little D. They has a particular interest in the glyphs Luz has discovered as well, dabbling a bit in it themself. He's a season 1 character who later takes Lilith's place in season 2 when she leaves the house for good. He and Eda are kind of pinning idiots, Eda the only one out of the two who knows about the other's crush. She doesn't want to confess just yet however, she wants to wait until things are less hectic.

Little Dude is an extremely old Palisman, one of the first ones ever made. He was made by accident, and his original owner has passed long long ago. He was under the Bat Queen's care for a while, though one day while some of his fellow palismen were getting captured, they tried to fight against it and save their friends, only to fail and be put in the same cage. They ended up being saved however, by Milo. During the scuffle they got badly injured, to which Little D got the Bat Queen and asked for help. After all of that was done with, the two bonded and he became their palisman. They were never named, so Milo calls them Little Dude, or Little D for short. His personality is best described as chaotic good.

Axel does a mix of potions and construction, and he spends his time saving wild witches and leading them outside the city. He lost part of his arm long ago, as he used to have a sigil and tried to become the new potions coven head. It, obviously, went wrong, but on the plus side losing the sigil allowed him to practice wild magic again. He's a huge nerd about history and astrology, hench his jacket buttons. He's a season 2 character and gets a full episode with Lilith, Luz, and King. Sometime later, Lilith ends up bringing him to the Clawthorne family home and he ends up living there for awhile. He's also the leader of the current V&V, as Laika felt like she shouldn't be in charge and Milo didn't want to be either.

Icicle was a complete surprise to Axel. After living with the family for awhile, Gwen and Dell seeing just how deep he and Lilith's care was for each other, they decided to officially make him part of the family. Before the decision was made, Lilith shared a book about human birds with Axel, his favorite being a blue lovebird. Sometime later, the Clawthornes pretended that they had a specific request for a blue lovebird palisman, and that they wanted Axel to help carve it. After it was carved and painted, Lilith ended up lightly prodding Axel about what he wanted to do in life, to which he said he wanted to rediscover the lost history of mixed magic. That makes the bird spring to life, and Lilith reveals that surprise! She's his Palisman! Welcome to the family! After some happy tears, he names the little bird Icicle. She's an extremely curious bird, sometimes getting distracted by the simplest things. She feels like she needs to investigate every little thing, think like ADHD the bird

Oooh, interesting. Amity’s saying a lot here with just one line. 

We know from Episode 7 that Edric and Emira have a tendency to slack off and don’t put in a lot of work in school. However, Amity(’s diary) also said in that episode that most people think they’re perfect. And here, she’s implying that their scores on the exam are noteworthy enough that it would be an accomplishment to beat them. 

All this together paints a pretty clear picture of the type of student they both are: the type that doesn’t have to put in a lot of work because they’re naturally good at what they do. 

Meanwhile, Amity has said before that she’s had to work very hard to get where she is right now. She’s the younger sibling of these two, and she has to work much harder than either of them at learning magic yet still isn’t as good as they are. That’s got to be tough on her. 

Even here, Emira immediately shuts her down by saying it’s impossible for her to beat their scores. She doesn’t exactly say it in a mean way, she just states it as if it’s an indisputable fact. But that doesn’t really make it any better! 

I’ve said before that I got the impression that there’s a lot of pressure on Amity to excel as a witch, but I wasn’t sure what the exact source was. I’m starting to think a lot of it comes directly from these two.

Another thing I think is interesting about this moment, though, is that Amity tells Luz what she’s here for without hesitation. Her body language suggests that she isn’t entirely comfortable with admitting it, but she still answers Luz honestly. Meanwhile, Luz is trying very hard to cover up her own reason for being here because she’s afraid Amity and her siblings will think less of her if they know. 

While I think Luz’s concerns aren’t entirely unreasonable, given that there’s a very clear precedent for Amity thinking less of a friend of hers due to their personal limitations as a witch, not to mention Amity’s siblings taking every chance they can get to bring up Amity’s own limitations, I don’t think admitting the truth in this particular instance will be nearly as bad as Luz fears. It’s just going to take her some time to figure that out.

TOH update

Watching and Dreaming spoilers

( Hello fellow Matt Tholomule enjoyers

With the ending of TOH and the fact we kind of got a vague but happy ending, I will now be more focusing on Matt being headcanon based!

I'm not making any major changes, just moreso filling in what I think feels best.

This includes him now being friends with Amity in wlw/mlm friendship, in the time between Luz defeating Belos and the time skip we see Matt himself has been more included in hanging out with Gus and friends while working with the rest using what skills he does have.

He and Gus also still continue human studies but it's more a side hobby while Gus teaches it full time. His S tattoo implies he's been told about or shown the human realm enough he liked this and got it permanently on his body.

His friendship with Amity extends to studying and adventuring as well, fully embracing his interests and helping with alot of the new education that will have to be studied and taught to the new students at Hexside. Both of them working alongside Lilith.

I like to think she also enjoys telling Matt how much he's grown and is like his brother. While he has moved away from constantly emulating Steve, he has an 'M' on his apron implying its just a Tholomule thing to have your name/initial on your clothing because that's cool I guess. Lilith is also proud of him for this and supports him and Amity becoming their own people.

It shows Matt hasn't learned much about making things or at least still isn't great at it. Down to the point he still labels what he's made. This is just a funny testament to his skills more in organization than actual building.

As for more personal headcanons, I believe that yellow shirt is his brothers, the sleeves are just cut off. His name is confirmed as 'Matt Tholomule' in the credits and it was confirmed at some point that Steve's last name is also 'Tholomule' so they share a dad and Steve's bio mom simply isnt in the picture for some reason but Matt's is.

The way I write Matt specifically is that he is respectful of his parents and his mother actually taught him painting and pottery skills.

Speaking of pottery, it was and is a way for him to handle his extra energy. He still does it to de-stress and make his own little things for fun. He also paints it and has extensive knowledge in the process, and will share this information with friends.

Even in the time skip, I will write him still having chaotic tendencies and being silly mostly with friends and when he's off work not bossing Kikimora around. He can still be fighty sometimes and have a temper but otherwise has mellowed out alot since the start of the show. )

i've mentioned this before but i do recall having problems with hunter's introduction in the show, mostly based in my expectations of hunter being more of a "winter soldier" type of character instead of an over-confident quip machine - which is how i perceived him in separate tides. at the time, i wasn't sure if i vibed with the subversion or not, but nowadays the more i think about it, the less i like it.

in my review i brought up darius' introduction as being way better in its execution because he is presented as a real threat to the heroes, as well as showing off much of his personality. best of both worlds, and something that hunter lacked during his real introduction. instead of cocky he just comes off as dismissive and, at worst, just as incompetent as the rest of the emperor's coven. as the right hand man for the emperor of the BI, of course i expected someone who can live up to that name - and while i think hunter's eclipse lake meltdown is pretty compelling, that doesn't mean that hunter has to be presented as not a real threat from the very beginning. in fact, this would just make hunter's eventual insecurities even more compelling - kinda how TOH handled amity in the beginning of the show.

point being, this really annoys me because hunter's personality immediately changes in the next episode focused on him, hunting palismen. he comes off as more mature and stoic, instead of just incompetent, but he's also put on his place quite a lot through luz's shenanigans. IMO that episode strikes a good balance between presenting hunter as s holier than thou figure as well as recognizing that he's a kid in an adult's world, just like luz. and it makes me wish that separate tides would have really committed to hunter being a no-bullshit kinda guy, since it would have achieved the goal of humanizing hunter more and more with each one of his S2 appearances, instead of painting him with a weak personality coat that fades as soon as the writers give us an opportunity to take a good look at his character.

Thinking about how Luz's and Eda's childhood photos look messy, chaotic, and lively and just filled with love and fun

Vs

Willow's childhood picture are not nearly as chaotic but still imperfect, fun and lively. However while Luz's and Eda's are physical or digital copies Willow's were taken directly out of her memory

Amity's one family portrait that looks perfect and staged, and everything is dark and gloomy and Amity is not happy

Hunter's one childhood picture of him receiving the golden guard role and it is a painting in someone else's memory where his face is hidden

Belos's childhood pictures from his memory were all thrashed and were hidden away in dark dead forest, which were covered up by flashy gold hallways with paintings and murals of him being portrayed as a hero in picturesque perfect scenes and far removed from reality

Does anyone get sad thinking about how when Eda and co were younger they seem to be close friends but now they are just so estranged with each other? Like it's not even "school friends who lost contact and grew apart with time", some of them seem to actively resent each other before and during the events of the show.

Like we have Eda and Lilith and the entire curse mess who only started to get along after the events of Young Blood, Old Souls

Raeda broke up and only come to contact years later despite still being in love with each other and caring about each other. They still struggle with communication and tendency to keep secrets from one another

Raine and Eda were willing to kill Darius without hesitation. It was not out of malice and definately more out of greater good, a solid plan that Darius clearly appreciated and even encouraged a similar but less deadlier version for the day of unity. But still that was cold and ruthless especially if they were meant to be friends as kids. Not to mention it's "Head Witch Darius!" and "Raine Whispers!" like no familiarity. Absolute strangers. Only reconcilled when their goals aligned

Darius actively resents Alador and Alador doesnt seem to care about him either. They were close with each other and Odalia as kids and yet now the mere mention of Alador just irks Darius.

Odalia just grew up to be such a hateful and greedy person, like as a kid she seems to be someone who just wants to hang around with her friends, and now she doesnt care about anyone at all. Like girl what happened to you?

Perry seems to have nothing to do with any of them. Like he seemed sad when Eda was gonna get petrified even under the strict reporter professionalism but like that is it. (Then again this one is more likely to do with his non existent screen time than anything else)

Alador and Eda's only talk was Eda being rightfully pissed about the factory incident but it also feels like there was more resentment then that.

And just all of them were so separated from each other. Eda was living as a wild witch. Lilith was head of the Emperor's coven and trying to capture Eda and nothing else. Alador and Odalia were in a loveless marriage focusing more on their careers rather then each other and even their own children. Darius and Raine reconnected only when they revealed that their goals aligned. And Perry was doing his own thing.

Like what happened to that friendship both the show and the crew keeps hinting at. Was it a later added thing? Or would we have seen them through flashbacks only for it to be cut out due to disney?

Either way it really makes me sad thinking about so many friends who were potentially close, just growing apart and even starting to resent to each other.

Okay, sorry sorry, but I have no one to scream to about the new Owl House episode so I shall scream into the Tumblr void instead:

- What is the deal with the Collector and the Titan(s)?? The Collector wanted them all dead, to the point that there’s a very fucked-up cult about it, but why? I’m curious if it was just power, or because of specific magical properties of the Titans, or what, considering that they made King connect to the Collector before they were going to kill him.

- (Also King is connected to the Collector after that ritual thing and there’s no way that’s not going to come back to bite literally everyone. And he wiped the paint off his forehead onto Luz’s pants...I hope y’all Collector!Luz people are wrong but that worries me...)

- How long was the Owl Beast in that scroll? It has to have been over 400 years, since the Collector wasn’t trapped back then.

- Is it King’s dad’s fault/doing that the Collector is trapped??

- How long was King in his egg, just dormant? Did something specific happen to make him hatch?

- I have to mentioned the goddamn dagger. It’s that same. fucking. twisted dagger that Philip/Belos had in the flashback paintings where he was fighting/threatening/killing his brother. So did Philip already know about the Collector at that point? What’s the extra connection there? There’s zero way that’s a coincidence.

- Did Philip use his brother as a sacrifice? I know people were thinking about that after seeing some of his diary entries way back before the hiatus, but maybe he did actually do that, just in a different way than we were guessing before.

- But what would that have done, if he did? I can see theoretical benefits to sacrificing a Titan, who has very powerful blood and is definitely magic, but what would sacrificing a human do? Or was it a test, maybe? Because I fully believe Philip was willing to kill his brother regardless of whether the Collector gave their input there or not, but maybe that helped define the how.

- (Also, I’m so so curious to know the timeline. How long after his brother’s death did Luz and Lilith meet him? Had he already made a Grimwalker at that point, or did he complete his first one sometime in the time between that and the “nine bright hues” memory?)

- For bits I loved that were sweet/made me feel things: King calling Luz his sister, everyone both giving Luz space and then comforting her when she needed it, the way King grabbed Luz’s leg and hugged it when he was crying, Eda breaking down to Lilith and wanting to keep her kids safe.

- This episode was less of a “progressively whack me in the face again and again” episode (like Hollow Mind) and more a “the more time I take to think about it, the more different levels of fucked up I find” episode. All of these kids have trauma, good lord.

- Anyways: good episode! I’m scared and excited for next week! I’m so glad Luz has support times a thousand because she needs and deserves it and I hope Hunter’s with the rebel squad! King needs hugs and fluffy toys.

EDIT TO ADD: I almost forgot, but the Collector’s rhyme in Luz’s flashback was a little bit different! More openly violent, for one thing. I thought that was interesting and worth noting.
