Family Trees of the Multiverse: Stewart-Pierce Family
So when I just posted my Quinzel family tree, I noticed that I... never actually posted my Lightning Fam tree? Ooops.
The main reason I even made this is because I was genuinely surprised to learn that Lynn Stewart and John Stewart are only siblings in the Young Justice cartoon continuity. It made me want to investigate both their families, and what they'd look like sharing one tree.
As always, color-coded for easier identification of who is exclusive to which continuity. Main colors used:
Black: Prime Earth continuity
Brown: New 52 exclusive (N52 changed Jefferson's dad's name)
Red: New Earth
Green: Arrowverse
Turquoise: Batman Beyond/Earth-12
Dark Blue: Young Justice/Earth-16
Light Blue: Dark Knights of Steel/Earth-118
Purple: Kingdom Come/Earth-22
Pink: Crime Syndicate/Earth-3
If a character's writing and frame are completely red, the character is exclusive to New Earth continuity and didn't carry over to Prime Earth; if it only says [New Earth] below black writing, the character was first introduced during the New Earth era and did carry over into Prime Earth.
I'm fascinated by the fact that Anissa and Jennifer were first introduced in Kingdom Come, as the children of Jonni Thunder and Black Lightning, but their mother was changed when they were included in the main continuity.
And though it is messy and the CW never pulled through in actually giving us his Green Lantern run, between Roy Stewart and John finding the Gren Lantern ring in the finale, it's clear that John Diggle very much was an adaptation/version of John Stewart, so I decided to include him and his family too.

TV Series Discussion: Black Lightning
Season 4 (2021)
Tumblr media
Source: Google Images
School principal and retired superhero Jefferson Pierce leaps back into action as the legendary Black Lightning after a gang threatens his family.
Source: Netflix (2018)
Not A Good Finale
I'll be honest here, Black Lightning has always bore me for most part of each season. Usually, I only begin to enjoy the show as the action comes onto screen, and that's mostly at the end of each season. This is the first TV show I finished in this new year and as much as I enjoyed season 4 a tad bit more than usual, this was not a good season, much less a finale.
Like every other Black Lightning seasons, the first third of this season was just plot development and it's the same thing, over and over again. For example, I understand the death of Jefferson's friend affected Jefferson and thus affected his relationship with his family. However, did I need four to five episodes showing me just how strained the Pierces' relationship is? No!
Afterwards, when the action finally started, it didn't live up to my expectations. The past seasons had better action. The action in season 4 really did not need to happen for most of the time.
Last but not least, so much was happening for such limited time. Honestly, we didn't need that much to happen. First things first, what was the deal with prolonging Grace's coma if there was no repercussions or long term effects after that? Secondly, why introduce the Ionosphere storyline and not develop it properly? That fight between both "girls" in the last episode was so redundant. Third of all, the entire Tobias Whale storyline since the first season. Goodness gracious, he is one of the most annoyingly frustrating superhero-show villains ever. Dude was boring and yet the entire show revolves around him half the time. The only thing Tobias did well was annoy the hell out of me but really, his villainous actions are not up there at all.
Closing off with one last complain, Khalil's arc in the final season. I have always liked Khalil but Painkiller on the other hand was a bore as well. At least, he was a bore until this season. The parts in this season that I enjoyed the most were Khalil's scenes. Unfortunately, again, why bring in his team filled with capable people and not develop on it? Also, the last part, really? The show was already coming to an end, why make him forget as a side effect of removing the kill order?
I had high hopes for Black Lightning Season 4 considering it was the end of this superhero family. Sadly, it fell so much from my expectations... If the writers wanted to end it with so much extra sub-plots, I don't see why they couldn't have argued for a few more episodes. Then maybe the last two episodes would not have felt like a badly rushed job.
Rating: ★★★☆☆
PS How has Jennifer not mature at all in four seasons of superhero-ing?

35.  Barry and Iris visit the Pierce Family (The Flash/ Black Lightning)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Covid happening, „Black Lightning“ filming in Atlanta and „The Flash“ in Vancouver, the Quarantine for travelers to Canada, and „Black Lightning“ ending with Season 4, we never got another crossover between the rest of the Arrowverse and „Black Lightning“ after „Crisis on Infinite Earths“ while the show was still airing. Jefferson did show up in „Armageddon“ for an episode and a scene, but those scenes never actually happened, so I am not sure that crossover does even count as one.
However Barry did get to talk to Jefferson about being raised by Joe during „Armageddon“, something that the showrunner of „Black Lightning“ actually imagined for a crossover moment that never happened, in which Barry and Iris should have had Dinner with the Pierce Family and the fact that Barry was raised by a Black Man would have come up.
Some of his ideas were stolen by „The Flash“, others of course could not be used, since the scenes were soley between Jefferson and Barry and neither Lynn nor Iris were involved in them (or anyone else for that matter). Since moving „Black Lighting“ to Earth Prime was also kind of senseless with no impact on the show at all, this Dinner would have been at least something that would have come from the merging of Earths, but thanks to Covid we just never got it.

Two passions of mine are lists and family trees/next generations. One of my bigger gripes with the Fandom Wiki is that they will put absolutely everything to be a character category... aside from “next generation”...
So, I’m making my own list of next generation characters from all over the multiverse. Which is ungrateful, to be quite frank, due to how hard they are to find if you haven’t met them personally in a comic yet.
Which brings us to this post. Consider it a WIP as well as an ask for help. If you are as interested in next gen characters as I am, look at the shiny list! If you have read comics including next gen characters not listed here, please tell me the source and name so I can add them!
(Listed in braces behind are home Earth and continuity; if nothing is listed, it’s a child from the main continuity. Also, the list is in alphabetical order by hero alias, so if you want to just check a particular hero, that’s where you’ll find them.)
Children of Aquaman / Arthur Curry / Orin
With Mera:
Arthur Curry Jr. (New Earth main continuity; dead and also erased)
Arthur Joseph ‘AJ’ Curry (New Earth main continuity; erased)
Andrina ‘Andy’ Curry (main continuity since Rebirth)
Arthur Curry Jr. (Earth-12; Batman Beyond; listed separately because this one does not die in infancy but lives to be an adult)

Artur (Earth-16; Young Justice cartoon)
Children of Aqualad / Garth
