In practice, a unique generational-based danger exists that “being young/a child” and/or “being deemed to have a mental health issue” become the justification for denying psychiatrized children and youth their autonomy and full participation in decisions about their lives. In other words, in the lives of young people, adultist and sanist practices intersect.
