A/N: Hi guys, girls, and non-binary pearls! I hope your week has been good. I'm starting to get my college workload under control, so life has been pretty good as of late. :)

TW: Lyrics are gendered but the fic is not.

Summary: Waiting for your girlfriend is boring, so you decide to listen to some music before Wheein comes home for your date.

You gently drum your fingers against the table as you wait for Wheein to return from her schedule. It feels weird to be the one waiting for her since she’s usually waiting for you to finish work or other events.

The clock ticks in rhythm with your fingertips, and you find yourself wanting to listen to something as you stare at the door in nearly silence. You pull your phone from your pocket, and a few songs pop up on your feed, but you click the one that pops up first and interests you the most.

Can you kiss me more?

We’re so young, boy, we ain’t got nothin’ to lose

You mumble the lyrics as you set your phone down and grab your shoes from the doorway.

It’s just principle

Baby, hold me cause I like the way you groove

When you finish putting on your shoes, you nearly jump out of your skin when you see Wheein staring at you from the doorway.

“Did you miss me?” She asks with a cheeky smile, and you laugh before heading her way.

“You know I did.” You place your hand on her hips as you pull her in for a kiss.

She happily obliges, and Wheein melts into her touch as you grab her bag and throw it inside of your apartment. She breaks away from you while laughing as you pull her inside and close the door behind the both of you.

“Was that necessary?” She lifts an eyebrow at you, and you shrug your shoulders before taking her hand in yours.

“I have a ride ready outside. Do you want to change first?”

“Yeah, that’d be great.” She sighs before slipping her shoes off and heading into the bedroom. “I’ll see you when I’m done.”

You smile at her before walking into the living room and sitting on the couch.

Tonight would be a great night with your girlfriend by your side.

a/n: this was way fluffier than I intended. And way longer. But it’s just so lovely! I hope you enjoy.

The two of them had done this dance so many times. It was the textbook definition of will they-won’t they, and every time, it seemed like the answer was that they wouldn’t.

But Goeun wanted to. She wanted to so bad that she could taste it. She felt it every time she looked at Moonbyul. Every time the older woman smiled or laughed, it tore into Goeun in a way that she had never gotten used to.

And tonight was no different.

Friends. That’s what they always said they were. Just friends. But in her head, Goeun wished that there was some way for them to be more.

They were each on opposite ends of the couch, curled up with a drink in hand. They both did this sometimes, just to have a relaxing night in. A comfort movie, soft blanket, and quiet conversation. It never failed to relax her.

Moonbyul was laughing about something ridiculous that had just happened on the television. Goeun was smiling to herself, but part of her was wondering if Moonbyul was thinking the same thing that Goeun was. If she wanted it just as badly.

Byul must have noticed that Goeun was being quieter than usual, because as her laughter died out, she looked at Goeun with a little concern. “Is everything okay? You look... so serious,” Byul said gently.

Goeun forced her smile to grow a little wider. “I’m okay.” She should say something. All she needed to do was reach across the couch. It would be so easy...

But she didn’t want to risk their friendship. What if Byul didn’t feel the same way? It wouldn’t be fair.

Byul sat up and moved a little closer to Goeun’s side of the couch. She looked perfect, the same way she always did. Goeun never cared what Byul was wearing. Pajamas, shorts, a too-large hoodie, dress pants--it didn’t matter. She always looked incredible.

Goeun’s eyes lingered on Byul’s lips, just for a second. What would it be like to kiss them? She wanted to know so badly.

“Are you sure?” Byul asked.

“I...” Goeun’s voice trailed off. Had Byul gotten even closer? It didn’t feel like there was much space separating the two of them at all anymore.

No. She couldn’t do this. She couldn’t put Byul in that position.

“I’m glad you’re my friend,” Goeun said softly. The words were true, but they made her miserable. Because no one made her laugh like Byul. No one made her smile like Byul. No one filled her belly with fire in the same way that Byul did.

Byul didn’t say anything, she just continued to stare at Goeun with heavily-lidded eyes.

“That... that’s all,” said Goeun, feeling awkward and out of place.

“I don’t think that’s true,” said Byul. But she wasn’t accusatory. She didn’t sound angry. She was... just stating a fact.

Goeun sat there in silence, a thousand sentences coming to her mind. She didn’t say any of them. She kept almost starting to say something and then holding back, just because the words didn’t sound right to her.

Byul was right in front of her. Their faces were only inches apart. When had that happened? Goeun hadn’t even noticed. “Byul, I...”

“It’s okay,” said Byul, and her voice was low and throaty. “I know.”

Goeun had never been with a woman before. Not like this. All of her relationships had been with men. It wasn’t that she was hiding anything. There had just... never been a good time. Or any one of a million other excuses that she had come up with. “I’m sorry,” Goeun said, going to pull away. This wasn’t right. She couldn’t do this to her friend.

“No,” said Byul, reaching out with a gentle hand for Goeun’s face. “Don’t be.”

Goeun stopped, frozen, her head resting on Byul’s hand. “What... what are you saying?”

“I’m saying I want this to,” said Byul. “And that I’ve wanted it for a long time.”

Goeun felt something unlock inside her chest. She was still scared--scared of what this meant for their friendship. Scared of how difficult she knew it was going to be to navigate. But at the same time, it was a moment that she had been dreaming of for so long. For what felt like her entire life.

And then Goeun leaned in, closing the small gap that remained, and gently kissed Byul’s lips.

It was a soft kiss, one that contained all the longing that Goeun had been holding within herself. The kiss surprised her, even though Goeun had been the one to initiate it. To be here, in this moment... it was surreal.

They separated and Goeun looked into Byul’s eyes. And she saw compassion. She saw tenderness. She saw the eyes of someone who cared about her. Truly cared.

“I’ve... I’ve never done this before,” said Goeun shyly, feeling inexplicably inadequate and embarrassed.

“That was a pretty good kiss for someone who hasn’t done it before,” Byul said with that little smile of her.

Goeun blushed just a little. “No, not that. I mean... with a woman.”

Byul’s expression softened. “Oh, Goeun.” Two words, but there was so much in them. They carried the weight of a woman who knew how hard it could be to not fit society’s idea of “normal.” They carried the strength of a person who had chosen to live their life in their own way. “Come here.”

It was all that Goeun needed to hear. This time, when she leaned forward to kiss Byul, it wasn’t in the same gentle way as before. This time, it was needy. It was hungry. It was a kiss that contained all the time Goeun had spent thinking about this moment.

Byul responded in turn, wrapping her fingers around the back of Goeun’s head, pulling her down onto the Byul. The two of them were entwined, their hearts beating as one, the rest of the world nonexistent.

To Goeun, the only thing that mattered was the woman underneath her. She was shaking, her hands fumbling as she attempted to undo the buttons on Byul’s shirt. She managed three of them before Byul stopped her, softly placing her hand on top of Goeun’s.

“Let me,” Byul said, without a hint of judgment. Goeun knew. Byul understood.

Slowly, deliberately, and sensuously, Byul removed her shirt, sliding out of it and discarding it to the floor, revealing her simple, yet elegant bra. “But maybe you can get this for me,” Byul said, a hint of her playfulness returning to her voice.

The next few minutes passed quickly. Goeun stood and undid the clasp of Byul’s bra, letting it fall to the ground. Then, Goeun slowly moved to her knees, so that she was eye level with Byul’s waist. Byul looked at her with surprise, but Goeun didn’t care. She wanted this. So much.

Goeun started to kiss the skin near Byul’s waist, gently caressing the older woman’s midriff with her lips. Byul let out a soft sigh of satisfaction, and then Goeun began to remove Byul’s pants, until Byul was standing there in nothing other than a pair of small underwear, a pair that showed off her frame in a way that Goeun had only ever dreamed about.

“Byul... you’re...” It was like Goeun was seeing her for the first time. Even in her imagination, Byul hadn’t been this beautiful. She looked otherworldly. And yet, she still looked like the same Moonbyul that Goeun had fell for so long ago.

“Lay down on the couch,” said Byul in a kind voice. “Let me take care of you.”

Goeun wanted to argue. She wanted to kiss every inch of Byul’s body. But there was something in the way that she spoke that stole Goeun’s thoughts away, and left her with no choice but to comply.

So she did, settling back down onto the couch, laying down and going limp so that Byul could carefully remove every article of clothing from her.

First, her shirt. Her socks. Her pants. Then her bra. And finally, carefully and almost reverently, Byul slid Goeun’s panties off, leaving her naked on the couch, already wet, already so desperate for Byul’s touch.

Summary: Studying is the best way to ensure your future, but Solar wants to remind you to relax every now and again.

“Please?”

Solar’s up in your face with a cute pout on her face, but you have to resist in order to continue studying.

“Unless you want to learn Chemistry for me, you’ll have to just go to the party without me.”

“But babeeee-” She whines before pulling on your arm. “You did this last weekend, and the weekend before that! You can take one night off, I promise. When’s this test, anyway?”

“Next week-”

“Next week?!? C’mon, we’re going out. You have plenty of time to study and be shut in next week.” Solar manages to pull you out of the chair, and you yell as you fall on the floor.

“Solar!” You yelp before fixing your papers. “Fine, I’ll go with you, but let me organize my shit and get changed. I’ll be out in ten or fifteen minutes.”

“You better, otherwise I’ll drag you out of here myself.”

You gulp nervously as she seriously stares at you before closing the door behind her. Although she was sweet and bubbly most of the time, there were moments where she could be really scary if she wanted to.

You quickly organize your desk, plug in your computer to charge, and close your notebook before grabbing an outfit from your closet. You get changed, comb your hair, and put on some deodorant before meeting Solar in the living room.

“Are you ready to go?” You ask as Solar nods. “Where are we going anyways?”

She smiles before winking at you and grabbing your hand.

“That’s for me to know and for you to find out.”

"You both know why you're here."

The security girl fidgeted with her fingers, avoiding looking at you two from her seat near the CEO.

Yes, you knew as soon as you stepped into the meeting room with Solar. Realization poured into you like the rainstorm outside, big windows showing a darkening sky with lightning in the distance. The company got fancier with your hard work; that was the truth. During debut times, you'd be oblivious to the outside climate since it used to be settled in a modest basement. There were no cameras around, too — so upper management was also oblivious to the inside climate. Completely unaware of any mishappenings between Solar and you taking place at the practice rooms.

"For formalities sake, for the record," he said while turning his chair around, remote control in hand to close off the blinds, "let's go over it. From the start. Have a seat, please."

Solar sat down first. You felt an uneasiness crumbling up your throat as you finally acknowledged her presence there. She walked by your side the whole time, yet, since your last kiss, you treated her like a ghost — not looking, avoiding being near. Keeping your head down. You approached it as a way to save your energy to tenfold interact and put on a friendly face once promotions begin.

Was it smart, considering you'd been caught? Probably not, and you could hear Solar going on about it inside your head — "We could've come up with a plan, we could've planned what to say" — but instead it just solidified your current behavior. You wouldn't bear her treating your feelings like a work matter ever again, albeit it being the rational course of action.

Just let me be the selfish one, for once.

"Hey," she called up to you, breaking the silence, saying your name in a lower tone. Solar made an effort to accompany the direction of your gaze, eventually locking both in the same place. "It'll be okay. Come on. Sit down too."

You widened your mouth, "What...?" not understanding a thing. Her tone and her sweet demeanor seemed so foreign. You watched Solar, expecting to find the same old traces of nervousness, regret, and anger, but none of it showed while she calmly poured water on an empty cup and slid it in front of the chair you were supposed to sit on. By her side.

"What the hell, Solar..." you whispered, pulling the chair to sit down. It was hard to keep your eyebrows from frowning when her affection finally came, just when you least expected it. Or wanted it.

The thunderstorm outside was loud but not enough to prevent you from hearing the CEO's frustrated sigh. The papers next to him resembled the contract you signed years ago, but you didn't dare stare at it to confirm.

"There's no use in denying anything here, I must warn you. It was sufficient damage to our trust already that you two hid this from us," he said, eyes going from Solar to you and you-to-Solar nonstop. "To guarantee that, let's hear from the security camera's person. What were your findings, Byulyi?"

She put her hand on her chest as if to defend herself from an accusation, "I-I-I-I didn't find it, I just gave their manager the footage when he demanded it..."

"Ahem, right, you didn't snoop on them. Just say what was on your monitor. What the cameras recorded when these two were alone in the practice room."

"Well, kissing. And arguing. Then, crying." Byulyi spoke with pauses and mouthed a sorry when the CEO diverted his eyes from her to Solar and you.

"We can't afford a crisis just before a comeback. Doing his job, your manager realized the change in behaviour after that one practice session and went after the footage," he explained. "So, save my time here. You're not denying it, are you?"

You gulped. It felt like instinct to deny since, after all, you denied even your own feelings related to her. But the words couldn't come forward this time around.

"No," Solar said with an unshakable ease. "It's true. All of it. And there's more to it than what you saw on camera."

Under the table, Solar grabbed your hand and pressed it. She was scared, you supposed, despite her attitude. Scared you might open up with a different story, ruining whatever cold plan she came up with to save her skin. You could see where that was going; you imagined she wouldn't deny it and would proceed to throw you under the bus.

Would she be wrong, though? You were the only one who cared. Who cultivated pointless feelings. If someone was to blame and suffer the consequences, it probably should be you.

But there's nothing more to it, you thought, and would've said if brave enough to, because you never wanted anything to do with me, Solar.

"Okay, more than that? Are you saying it's a relationship, Yongsun?" the CEO asked. "Even in office jobs you would report this sort of thing to HR, you know. Pff," he scoffed.

"I meant more feelings wise," Solar explained. A single tear rolled down your cheek while your hand felt lighter as your fingers escaped her grip. "Not a relationship. No, I'm too stupid for that. I've just been dragging this situation along and don't deserve to be with her."

He crossed his arms at his chest. "Look, I'm not here to hear your drama. Just tell me what is this that you two have exactly."

You looked at Solar, unexpectedly finding out that she'd been crying in silence just like you.

"We have nothing. I like her and that's all, it's irrelevant if she likes me back or not. Heck, I'm not even sure if she does or not." It seemed like she would say more, but the tears got in the way. Byulyi, who seemingly wanted nothing to do with the situation, appeared to be emotional too.

The CEO was the only one with a dry face.

"You just said it's irrelevant if she likes you back or not. Let's get to the point."

"Yes yes, I'm just reaffirming — she has nothing to do with it. As the leader I should've known better than being so unprofessional. The punishment should be on me and accordingly to what's expected of my position."

"So? You're both adults and I watched the footage. It didn't seem like an one-sided thing as you're painting it to be."

Solar sighed. The tip of her fingers found your hand again and caressed it.

"I'm just saying that —" she stopped to dry her tears "— if you're planning on cancelling our contracts, cancel mine. Only mine."

The surprise, the confession, the sacrifice she'd put herself up for because of you. The overwhelm in emotions made you a bit sick for just thinking the opposite, struggling to find the words to stop Solar from what she was trying to do.

The papers on top of the desk, supposedly your contracts, seemed to be growing in size as the CEO's fingers tapped on them. When his eyes diverted from it to you, you knew there was no need to say anything else.
